We are one church. We love God, love people, love
-
his mission and love his church. Welcome to the One Church
-
Podcast. Hello, Welcome.
-
To the One Church Podcast. It's Monday the 14th of August
-
and we're so glad you could join us.
-
This last weekend. We continued our Names of God
-
series at One Church in all of our sights.
-
And today you're going to hear a message from Brian Niblock, who
-
was speaking at the one Church Obie site.
-
But before then, at the end of Matthew 28, Jesus says this all
-
authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me.
-
Therefore, go today. As you listen, remember this.
-
The authority given to Jesus has now been given to us.
-
So as we talk about Jehovah Rafa.
-
The God who heals us and the God who heals.
-
Remember this. We can see the same things that
-
Jesus did in and through our own lives.
-
So let your faith be built. Be ready to receive and enjoy
-
the message. Moses led Israel from the Red
-
Sea and they went in the desert of offshore.
-
For three days. They traveled in the desert
-
without finding water. When they came to Mara, they
-
could not drink the water because it was bitter.
-
That is why the place is called Mara.
-
So the people crumbled against Moses, saying, what?
-
What are we to drink? Then Moses cried out to the
-
Lord, and the Lord showed him a piece of wood.
-
He threw it in the water, and the water came fit to drink.
-
Then the Lord issued A ruling and instruction to them and put
-
them to the test, he said. If you listen carefully to the
-
Lord your God and do what is right in the eyes.
-
If you pay attention to His commands and keep all His
-
decrees, I will not bring on you any of these diseases.
-
I brought on the on the Egyptians, for I am the Lord who
-
heals you. There's the word Jehovah Rafah.
-
I am the Lord who heals you. Then they came to him, where
-
there were 12 springs and 70 palm trees, and they camped
-
there near the water. Praise the Lord.
-
This is the final part of the children of Israel coming out of
-
Egypt before. And continuing with their
-
journey on their way to the promised land, the children,
-
Israel were thirsty and needed water.
-
And when they came to Mara in the desert, they thought, here's
-
the water, but as they tasted it, it was very bitter and they
-
they couldn't drink it. And so the people grumbled
-
against Moses. And I think probably thinking or
-
saying, you've read us into the desert where there is no good
-
water to die here. And we're going to die.
-
And when you haven't got what you want or need, then you begin
-
to grumble and start to blame other people.
-
You have the blame game. We've all done it from time to
-
time, I'm sure. But thank God.
-
Moses was still in touch with the Lord, and he cried out to
-
him, and God gave him the answer.
-
Take out that piece of wood, throw it into the water.
-
And as he threw it in the water, the water became fit to drink.
-
And then the Lord then issued A ruling and instructions to the
-
children of Israel about doing right, paying attention to His
-
commands, obedience, and to His decrees.
-
And after that comes the declaration I am the Lord that
-
heals you. I just hope you today can just
-
take that into your mind, but also to your spirit.
-
I am the Lord God that heals you.
-
I am Rafa. I am Jehovah Rafa.
-
Jehovah Rappa is not just a name of a God supposed to be doing
-
something. And when other people may who
-
are the people may worship our God.
-
Jehovah by name is a true living God who heals, who is our
-
banner, who is our provider, and who also is our peace.
-
You know, his name embodies all that He's able to do, what he
-
can do, and also what he will do.
-
That's wonderful. We can just say Jehovah and in
-
that name, Jehovah there is wrapped up in that name all
-
which God is and can do and be to our lives and to our nation,
-
to our families or to our work colleagues, whatever it may be,
-
as we pray, praise the Lord. All his attributes work together
-
as one. So that's why I think that when
-
it says, you know, in Galatians 5, for us as Christians, we are
-
to put on the fruit of the Spirit.
-
And you might say, is it fruits? No, it's fruit.
-
Because they are all working together as one.
-
If you've got peace, you should have joy.
-
If you've got joy, you should have love.
-
If you've got love, you should have long-suffering also.
-
It becomes one as one. God works in oneness all the
-
time. He's never thinking.
-
Well, I can't. You know Joy's coming in next
-
week, not this week. But joy can happen today, You
-
know. God can be anything he needs to
-
do. Through his attributes to be
-
able to help us and to heal and to restore our lives.
-
So all his attributes work together as one call.
-
The Lord at Rama displayed himself as the Lord God who
-
heals praise the Lord. In Psalm 147 verse three it says
-
He heals the broken hearted, He binds up their wounds.
-
Jehovah Rapha heals our spirit, our soul, and our body.
-
Yeah, that means he heals us spiritually, emotionally and
-
also physically. Another example of Jehovah Rafa
-
healing is in numbers 21, eight and nine.
-
Once again the children of Israel grew impatient as they
-
traveled along their their journey to the Red Sea.
-
And it says they spoke against God and the servant Moses, you
-
know, once again. They'd already seen God working,
-
and here they were complaining again in the wilderness, No
-
bread, no water. And what was God saying to them?
-
Each day they detested the food which they were eating.
-
Talk about, you know, that phrase which people use don't
-
bite the hand that feeds you. And you know, God was feeding
-
them with what they needed. But they said we don't like your
-
food, God. And they And they.
-
So they began to complain. What God gives us, receive
-
because it's got something of the blessing of God even and
-
what he gives us. And the Lord said to Moses, make
-
a snake and put it on a pole. And anyone who is bitten can
-
look on it and live and live take hold of that word, live
-
life, live life. Holy Spirit brings life and it
-
causes us to live above the natural realm into something
-
which is supernatural and which is empowered by the Spirit of
-
God. God's mercy once more provided
-
healing from poisoning. To those who looked at the snake
-
on the pole, there are other scriptures which tell us that
-
God is a healing God. Jehovah, Raffa and some 100 and
-
103 has been read this morning. I think verses two and three
-
forget not all your benefits, all his benefits.
-
Sorry, who forgives all your sins and heals all your
-
diseases, All your diseases. So diseases and illnesses and
-
sicknesses and infirmities, all that which we, we, we embrace in
-
this world. God doesn't say, Well, I can't
-
do that. I can't do that today.
-
No, I I I haven't got the power to do that.
-
It says all your sicknesses, all your diseases, all your
-
infirmities. God is able to heal.
-
Praise the Lord. He is a God.
-
Jehovah Raffa. He is the one who heals.
-
Jeremiah 30, verse 17 says in God's restoration of Israel, he
-
promises that I will restore you to health and heal your wounds
-
and declares the Lord, praise the Lord.
-
So he's here to heal our wounds and He's here to restore our
-
lives. And so, you know, sometimes it's
-
more emotional, it's more sometimes in our mindset, it's
-
in our mind, which is which is troubling us.
-
Well, God can restore and heal you from that.
-
Yes, you may be under medication, not against that at
-
all, not against doctors or nurses.
-
But God supernaturally can heal us emotionally as well as
-
spiritually as well as physically.
-
Praise the Lord. I believe from these few
-
scriptures that after repentance and prayer God restores the
-
children of Israel and heals them to all together after he
-
says what they are to do. To me, that shows the nature of
-
God. It's considering for all those
-
people, not just one or two, not just the top brass, not not
-
people who are just, you know, doing something wonderful.
-
But it's for all the people, so all new people here today,
-
they're all part, You're all part of being in the company of
-
God's presence. And so potentially God can heal
-
every one of us. Potentially, God can work in our
-
lives. Because, you know, he didn't say
-
to the children of Israel, you know, he said I'm the Lord God
-
that heals you, plural, not just some of you or one or two of you
-
or Moses or in his family. He said all of you.
-
God is interested in his body, the body of Christ.
-
God is interested in his people. God is interested in families.
-
He started the family. He caused these things to happen
-
and he looks after us and he he wants us to know him as the
-
healing God, even in our families, in our church.
-
And to to see God working powerfully.
-
And so God is concerned for all, all of us.
-
And even those, even those people are not yet as people.
-
God is concerned about them. He wants them to be healed as
-
well. You know Jesus when he healed
-
the sick and the Gospels, we'll come to that in the moment.
-
So when he healed the sick and the Gospels, he didn't say,
-
first of all you must do this, This isn't this.
-
He just said be healed or he laid hands on them.
-
He just spoke the word to them and they were healed.
-
And then he said, and go and send no more.
-
And so God is wanting to bless with healing those who are not
-
yet believers. Their miracle or their healing
-
can bring them to Christ. Praise the Lord.
-
So he doesn't just heal one or two people or a few, but he
-
wants all God's people to receive healing in the church
-
today. You know, I have read
-
testimonies where God has moved powerfully amongst huge
-
congregations of people and He has healed.
-
Many of them, if not all of them.
-
And then, of course there is Isaiah 53, verse 5A, prophetic
-
word of what the coming Messiah, what he would be doing, what He
-
would do. He says he was peers.
-
For our transgressions, He was crushed for our iniquities.
-
The punishment that brought us peace was on him.
-
And by His wounds we are healed. By his stripes we are healed.
-
And I know some of you here today confessed very regularly.
-
By his stripes I am healed by the power of God.
-
His word is as good as as the healing he wants to give to us.
-
So now look, let's look at the New Testament and the ministry
-
of Jesus. He was God in the flesh, God's
-
Son. And he said I and my Father are
-
one. If you've seen me, you have seen
-
the Father. And so he linked himself to the
-
Father. You could say he linked himself
-
to Jehovah. I am Jehovah.
-
And I, the one who heals you. And of course Jesus displayed
-
the healing power of God as well.
-
He had the same Spirit of God as in the Godhead, since he was
-
conceived with the Holy Spirit. And then in the baptism with
-
John the Baptist, the Holy Spirit came upon him, and he was
-
filled with with the Holy Spirit and all the fullness of God.
-
And so he was, you could say he was dead, he walking around, and
-
yet he was still human. He was the Son of man as well as
-
the Son of God. But he displayed the nature of
-
God as he went around to minister to to people around
-
Jerusalem and elsewhere and the other in the other towns and
-
cities. After his baptism in the Spirit,
-
he continues, along with his other ministries, the ministry
-
of healing at all levels, as well as casting out devils.
-
We don't see casting out of devils of the Old Testament, but
-
we do see plenty of casting out of demons in the New Testament,
-
and of course even today. And so the name Jesus is like
-
the name Jehovah. It has all the attributes that
-
the Father has. That's why he's able to do
-
anything. All things are possible with God
-
to them that believe, you know, through Jesus.
-
Jesus said if you ask anything in my name to the Father, he
-
will do it or I will do it. Because they they are one in the
-
same nature. They are God.
-
You know there's power just in His name.
-
Power by the Spirit of God. I'm sure some of you over your
-
lifetime. When you've been in distress, or
-
when you've been upset, when you've been disturbed, or when
-
you've had bad news, you've just said Jesus, and that name has
-
just brought peace. It's brought a clarity, It's
-
brought something to you. That name is embodied all which
-
he all he is to us. And so in Matthew 4, verse 17,
-
when Jesus came out from the wilderness, having not yielded
-
to the three temptations organized by the devil, he said
-
repent. For the Kingdom of heaven has
-
come there. And so from that time he spoke
-
the Word and manifested the power of the Kingdom of God.
-
He loved people, He forgave people their sins, He spoke
-
wisdom, He displayed love. And He also manifested the
-
healing power of the Kingdom of God, just like it's in the Old
-
Testament, the Lord Jehovah. Rafa did at times as the same as
-
Jesus did in the New Testament. You know the cross is very
-
powerful. Just let me explain in case
-
there's anybody here this morning.
-
The cross which Jesus died upon, He gave his life.
-
We remember that this morning with the community, the breaking
-
of bread and drinking at the cup, He bore our sins, all of
-
our sins. And to as many as turn from
-
their sins and believe on Jesus they shall be saved.
-
You can be saved this morning just like that by asking Jesus
-
Christ into your life because the cross has power.
-
Because Jesus not no longer dead, he's no longer buried.
-
He's alive for evermore in heaven.
-
He's seated on the right hand of God and he is exalted today and
-
he's here by his spirit to minister salvation, to minister
-
healing. To minister what he wants to
-
give to you and your life emotionally in your mind.
-
To be set free. Praise the Lord.
-
So what about now? What about now?
-
What's happening now with the Kingdom of God?
-
What's happening now with Jesus? Is Jehovah Rafah still the same
-
today as he was many thousands of years ago?
-
The healing power of God is still available.
-
The outpouring of the Holy Spirit followed the resurrection
-
and ascension of Jesus. And the Holy Spirit was sent to
-
empower the Saints that journs me, the children of God, to
-
empower them to do the works of Jesus.
-
That's why he trained his disciples for up to three years,
-
so that they could get the the hang of what he wanted them to
-
do. So that they would know when the
-
Holy Spirit came upon them. They could do the works which
-
Jesus, which Jesus had been doing, following the works of
-
the Kingdom of God. Yes, wholeheartedly preach the
-
gospel, lead people to Jesus, but also.
-
He sends us out to heal the sick, cast out demons, raise a
-
dead and also to heal leopards if they are here today.
-
Praise the Lord you know Matthew 10.
-
Jesus gave this command to his disciples.
-
Heal the sick, he said. Heal the sick.
-
He said. Raise a dead.
-
He said cleanse the leopards and cast out demons freely.
-
You have received freely give. He tested them some, some
-
sometime later after he spoke of that.
-
And they went out to do just that.
-
And they came back and said even the demons came out of us, They
-
obviously saw people healed as well.
-
But Jesus said don't rejoice so much to that, but rejoice that
-
your names are written in the lambs book of life, Praise the
-
Lord, praise the Lord. But we are to do the same.
-
That's that's part of the ministry of Jesus here today.
-
Mark 16, you know, speaks there about.
-
To go and preach the gospel to all mankind, to all humankind,
-
to all people around the nations of the world.
-
And that's being done this present time for many centuries,
-
That's being done. But you also said, you can heal
-
the sick, you can lay hands on the sick, and they shall
-
recover, because you have the same Spirit within you as which
-
raise Jesus Christ and the dead which is in the Godhead, the
-
same Spirit you have. And therefore, as you lay hands
-
on the sick, impartation can happen.
-
Or Jesus. In the name of Jesus.
-
Power can come. People can be set free and
-
delivered even immediately there, Miraculously then or even
-
sometime later. You know, the leopards as they
-
went, they were healed. And sometimes we go from a
-
healing meeting and and we prayed for nothing's happened.
-
But during the week something happens.
-
We're healed. Well, I couldn't.
-
I've been healed. It's all gone.
-
As we trust and believe God, because Jesus said the works
-
that I do shall you do and greater work shall you do
-
because I go to my Father, you know of ourselves we can't heal
-
anybody. That the Lord has given us
-
authority to exercise our God-given authority and
-
empowered us by the Holy Spirit to heal the sick and to do the
-
other works which he said we can do.
-
My personal testimony I want us to share.
-
I wanted to. Testimonies and from other
-
people just to encourage us today what God is doing around
-
us. Not not years ago or centuries
-
ago, but today, here and now in our lifetime.
-
Praise the Lord. I'm not here to glorify myself,
-
but to glorify Jesus and just simply to exhort you to do what
-
Jesus told us to do. There's some testimonies.
-
There's a lady in our church today.
-
Some years ago we had a we we ran a series of evening meetings
-
on a on a on a Sunday night and the last Sunday of each night
-
each month. And we people were prayed for.
-
The first night we did, this lady came forward for prayer and
-
I said what's back, what's trouble?
-
She said it's back trouble. She said I have to climb.
-
I have to crawl up to bed every night, up my stair, up the
-
stairs. I want to be healed.
-
So I prayed for her and. You know, released her in the
-
name of Jesus. And she said, I feel much
-
better. I said we'll go and run around
-
the church. She ran around the church and
-
she said I'm here. I've asked her a week later, I
-
asked her a year later, some years later, I said, are you
-
still climbing? Are you still walking up to bed,
-
up the stairs to bed? She said yes, she's not climbing
-
anymore. You know what God does?
-
He does forever, doesn't he? Praise the Lord.
-
The second thing is a young wife and one of the Leicestershire
-
churches. A few years ago I was asked to
-
preach to that church and as I was leaving I asked the pastor
-
because I heard that there was the young young wife there who
-
was not able to conceive to have a child.
-
I said I'd like to pray for her, so I prayed for her.
-
I don't know whether her husband was there at the time.
-
I think he was working, but I prayed for her that she would
-
have a child and I left. That was it.
-
And I went there. I was invited just over a year
-
or later, and she she met me at the door of the church carrying
-
a little baby boy. She said, this is the answer to
-
your prayer. Praise the Lord, praise God.
-
He can do things which are impossible to us and sometimes
-
even to the medical field. I'm not trying to judge them or
-
run them down anyway, but sometimes they can't do
-
everything. But God can do everything.
-
He can do the impossible. And so believe God today because
-
his Spirit is at work as we hear the word of the Lord.
-
You know, I was speaking to a friend the other day in
-
Leicester here, and he told me a Muslim man came into his church
-
and he was full of cancer. He was led to Christ, to Jesus,
-
and then they prayed for him to be deliberated and set free from
-
the cancer. A week later he came back, my
-
friend said to the church and he said I've been healed.
-
And they said, why? What happened?
-
They said, well, during the week the cancer processed out of me.
-
I leave that to your imagination how the the cancer left him.
-
But Wigglesworth, when he prayed, who was a great healing
-
evangelist, he used the people used to vomit their cancer out
-
of the mouth and used to jump on the floor.
-
And so you, you, you, you think what happened there?
-
And so they said to him, well, can you go to the hospital and
-
just get some Xrays or get someone, you know, so diagnosis
-
again to see whether you've still got cancer or not.
-
And so he went there and he came back a week later and he said,
-
he said, they just said to me, you have no trace of cancer in
-
your body. So praise the Lord, praise the
-
Lord. I would like to see in the city
-
a cancer free zone, even now city, a cancer free zone.
-
I'm talking to my heart now, but I'd like to see that happening
-
more and more and more. Praise the Lord.
-
You know, during the summer, a number of youth camps have been
-
happening around the country by many various groups of of, of
-
believers, of of churches. And I've heard from people who
-
were there, young people coming to Christ in hundreds.
-
That's wonderful. Obviously they've got to be
-
followed and be discipled, but that's wonderful.
-
And the Holy Spirit was working. Young people were prayed for and
-
set free, crying with tears down their faces.
-
Jesus was at work healing hearts, minds, emotions, hurts,
-
even abuse. And these young people were
-
being healed. And I just say, well, how
-
wonderful, how wonderful. You know when the Holy Spirit is
-
working and operating in a company of people as we worship
-
the Lord and and Jesus comes to be alive amongst the people, you
-
know God can do anything and people can be set free just like
-
that in a moment. And sometimes you have to just
-
believe and confess the truth for some time.
-
Be prayed again if you need to be prayed for again this
-
morning. Don't worry, don't don't worry.
-
Come out, be prayed for. Even if you've been prayed,
-
prayed for even 10 times, you know that's another stage to you
-
towards your healing. Praise the Lord.
-
Let's just believe God, Trust him.
-
How wonderful. Just as I conclude, even our
-
team who went to Tanzania just a week or two back, saw healings
-
and miracles and salvations in a in a new area which I haven't
-
yet heard the gospel. I mean that must be marvelous to
-
hear that people come into Christ, miracles happening,
-
healings happening and lies being changed and the Church
-
being part of no doubt they saw those healings and salvations
-
and miracles. And you know, even our youth and
-
why adult adults weekends away saw God doing amazing things in
-
their lives as they had a weekend together.
-
Praise the Lord, Hallelujah. And so church, all I can say to
-
you this morning is let us rise up and believe God and see
-
Jehovah, Rapha and Jesus healing the sick and doing doing mighty
-
miracles. Obviously through all of that we
-
want to see people coming to Christ and having their
-
salvation known by Jesus and being blessed of God.
-
So our word today as I close is Jesus Christ, the same
-
yesterday, today, and forever. Jehovah Rapha, I am the law that
-
heals you. Thank you, Brian, for that
-
message, bringing us back to the Bible and what it says about how
-
God is our healer and encouraging us with those great
-
stories. We're believing for more stories
-
in the life of 1 church and even in your life, because God is
-
still our healing God. Jehovah Rafa is our healer
-
Today, If you'd like prayer, reach out to us and we're ready
-
to stand with you and see faith rise in your life.
-
And just perhaps we'll see God step in and do amazing things.
-
Even in the last 24 hours since our Sunday morning gatherings,
-
we've heard stories of people who've been healed had a touch
-
from God. And it's so encouraging to see
-
that God is at work. There is lots coming up in the
-
life of 1 Church. So here's your family news from
-
First of all, we're less than four weeks away from the opening
-
of the newly renovated 1 center at 10 Frog Island, and it's so
-
exciting to be able to share this momentous weekend with all
-
of you. So if you want to be there
-
Saturday night, Sunday morning. Make sure you've booked your
-
place on Saturday and come along as normal on Sunday morning.
-
And why not invite somebody as well.
-
Use one of the invitations and you can point to people online
-
or you can get an invitation from the church office or anyone
-
church site and let's just see what God wants to do on this
-
very special weekend. Secondly, if you are away on the
-
opening weekend of the new One Center on the 9th and 10th of
-
September, then don't worry, there is still a way that you
-
can get involved. You can TuneIn and stream the
-
service live on YouTube, the second service on the Sunday
-
morning, or you can catch up with that anytime, because our
-
heart is that every person who calls one church home can be a
-
part of this weekend. Thirdly, we are taking a trip to
-
Israel in 2024. It's the first time we've led a
-
trip like this as one church and by.
-
Partnering with Mao's Israel. One of our partner charities
-
that's based there in Israel and the UK, we get to put on a tour
-
and an exploration of this Holy Land, the ground where Jesus
-
walked. That is drenched in rich
-
biblical history, and it's something that will open your
-
eyes up to the reality of the history of the faith that we all
-
hold so dearly. So if you're interested in going
-
with us to Israel next year? Then let us know and get in
-
touch. There is still space for you to
-
be involved in this trip. And finally we have an encounter
-
night on the 27th of August and you are welcome to join us at
-
7:00 PM as we call on God and leave space for him to move.
-
We'll see you there. Have a wonderful week and
-
remember what Jesus says. I am with you always to the very
-
end of the age. Jehovah Rafa is with you.
-
Be blessed. The Lord bless you and keep you.
-
The Lord make his face shine upon you, and be gracious to
-
you. The Lord turn his face towards
-
you and give you peace.
