I'm excited and passionate about what we're going to be looking

at. I want you to look at One

Thessalonians Chapter 2 and then.

Verse just let's start in. Verse 11.

Thessalonians, chapter 2. This is what the Bible says.

For you yourselves, no. Brothers that are.

Coming to you was. Not in vain.

But though we had already. Suffered and been shamefully

treated at Philippi. As you know, we had boldness in

our God to declare to you the Gospel of God in the midst of

much. Conflict for our.

Appeal does not spring from error or impurity or.

Any attempt to deceive. But just as we have been

approved by God to be entrusted with the gospel, so we speak not

to please man, but to please. God who tests our hearts.

Amen. You know.

I love this because Paul is. Talking about being entrusted.

With the powerful gospel. Message.

He is talking about that he has received.

The message The powerful. Gospel of Jesus Christ and He

has been entrusted. With that message to proclaim it

to others. And I am here today to say to

you that you and I have been entrusted with this.

Message that we. Have been given this message to

declare to many that we have been given this message not just

to hold to ourselves, but to actually take it out there, take

it to everyone, take it to our world and our community to

absolutely take it to the people in our world.

Wow, what? A privilege to be entrusted with

this message. You know, there's a film that I

absolutely love. It's called 19. 17 and it's a.

Film that is set in World War One.

Some of you may. Seen it, but what basically?

Happens is that during World War 12 British.

Soldiers Lance Corporal Scofield.

And Lance. Corporal Blake.

They received. Seemingly impossible orders.

It's a race against time. They must crossover into enemy.

Territory to deliver a message that will.

Save 1600. Fellow comrades.

They are given this message and they are told if you can get it

through past the enemy territory and get it to the the soldiers

there, you will save 1600 people.

What a responsibility. Wow, you've been entrusted.

With this message. And you know, here I am today to

say this to you, that the Lord has understood that He wants to

entrust you with a. Message that can I.

Say as loud and as clear as I can that this message will save

a generation. That this message that we have

been entrusted with will radically turn people's lives

around. We'll save people.

We'll save families. We'll save communities.

We'll turn Lester around and we? Have been entrusted with this

message. Amen.

Wow. You see, they understood the

horrendous consequences of not carrying the message.

You know 1600 people will die. Including one of the soldiers.

Blake's brother. He was in that platoon.

They will die if this message does not.

Get to them. They were.

Compelled to carry the message and you know I.

Don't want to be over heavy with you, I want you to be my friend

at the end. But the.

Truth is, this guys is in 2026. If the church chooses not to

carry this. Message then a generation.

Is going to spend. Forever and ever without God.

That if we sleep. Through this moment.

If we sleep through the significant, poignant moment in

time, wow, our generation will be totally and.

Utterly lost for all eternity, like the responsibility of that

is on us. That wow, we could just.

In this such a significant moment in time.

Choose to not take. The message many of you know

that we're going through this incredible season where it's

they're calling it the quiet revival.

Where people? Are opening themselves up to

the. Gospel.

Like never before moments where people are actually coming into

our churches and are like saying.

I had a dream. People who are speaking to us on

the street who are like. Saying.

I've bought a Bible and I want to know how to become a

Christian Church. We've never seen this for.

Decades. We've never seen this for many,

many times years, but here we are in this time.

But I want to urge you and say to us that if we sleep through

this quiet revival, if we just decide not to carry the message,

we will not see the powerful outcome that God is wanting us

to see in such a. Time.

Wow, I don't want to. I don't want to sleep.

Through this significant time, I want to understand that I'm

entrusted with the message. You know this message saves.

People, the message. That we're talking about today.

The message that you could communicate this week to people

by the bus stop, by, you know, in your workplace, in your

street. This message can radically.

Turn people's lives around. People who are not sitting in

this room today could be. Sitting in it in a.

Future because you carried the message, you have been entrusted

with one of the most powerful. Messages.

Ever. And it's like.

Wow, will we? Pick up this challenge.

You see those two soldiers, compassion compelled them to get

him right through the enemy territory, right to where the

message needed to be. Because they had such a

compassion to see. Their fellow comrades saved.

And you know I stir us again. That we would be moved by

compassion, that we would allow God to stir our souls, That we

would cry out to God again for the lost.

That we would be like, oh, God, give us souls.

You know, my grandma, she used to weep over the lost.

She used to weep over the lost. She would spend hours and nights

in prayer and she would be there sobbing in her little room,

crying for people that had not known God yet.

And it's a challenge to me because I live in this

generation and I'm thinking, God, do we cry over the lost?

Do we weep over the? Broken mark?

I asked myself. Mark, are you more likely to tot

and moan about what's happening in the city centre than you are

to weep and be crying and compassionately moved for the

people that you see? Around you, I remember I I

prayed a prayer. It should come with a warning.

It should come with a warning. Because it's a prayer that will

change you, I says. Oh God.

Will you let me? See people how you see them, I

tell you, I absolutely. That prayer you begin to see

people. In a new way.

You begin to weep over people. You know that.

Neighbour that annoys you? They begun.

They capture your. Heart and you began to cry out

of God. For them.

Those people at work that do your head in?

Everyone, we're all Christian here.

Yeah, we love the Lord, but there are some.

People that do your. Head in and and now you know, we

love to moan about them and complain about them, but then we

start to see them how God sees them and it begins to stir us

and it begins to change us. And instead of moaning about

them, we begin to pray for them. We begin to call on God for them

all that why? Would God entrust us with?

This message, Why would he? You know when there's.

Such a such a sense in which we could be like, why would God

give us that job? But he has.

He has entrusted us with the gospel.

I love it, you know. So we speak not to please man,

but to please God who tests our hearts.

And you know, and Pastor Sue mentioned a little bit when she

was praying, but the truth is that this message that we're

talking about today, all my friend, we're not going to win

any popularity competitions with this message because there will

be some people who will not like you.

There will be some people who will get angry and irritated

that you. There will be people that will

tell you to stop banging on about God, or stop being like a

Bible basher or stop being a religious crazy.

You know it's all going to come your way.

But I want to tell you that when you take that message, there are

people out there who are desperately needing to hear the

message that is inside of you, right?

Now and they need. To hear it and they will hear it

and it will change them for. Eternity.

It's like, wow, wow. It's like when I was a young

lad. You know people.

Say to me, you know, when did you become an evangelist?

I've always been like, passionate.

About the lost and I think I. Was in like third year and at

school in year 9 and basically I was outside the gates and I was

speaking and. A few people.

Gathered and I actually did a little preach outside the gates

at my own school. And it was going pretty well.

There was a little crowd gathering and people were

really. Listening.

They'll never. Forget a guy came, right?

Through the crowd and in front of everyone, he spat completely

in my face. And you know, I know that the.

Enemy meant that to stop me. As I I was the.

Same as any other kid you know, you in 3rd year, year nine,

you're like trying to be. Cool, you're trying to be the

guy. It's not a.

Great look having someone. Spit in your face, I know the

enemy. Was.

But you know what? All it did was lit the fire even

more passionately. And you know, I want to

encourage you today that when you go out there and when you

begin to share. Your message.

You're going to get a few knock backs, you're going to get a few

push. Backs but.

Do not allow it to dampen your passion, but just let it fire

you up even more that you would. Bring this message that would

see lives changed. Amen.

Wow, here it is that we would be entrusted with the message, but.

Also that we would. Deliver a message deep into

enemy territory. Deep into enemy territory.

I am. I get.

Asked a lot. You know the show that I'm going

to. Do Tonight is is the show that I

did at the Edinburgh Fringe in August.

I absolutely love this because your church here you guys.

One Church Leicester, you guys helped and sponsored me.

To be able to do it, I was able to.

Communicate, communicate the gospel in right in the centre of

Edinburgh because you guys came alongside me and helped me and I

want to say thank you. Well, you know people, of course

they asked me. I'm a my dad.

Was a minister. I went to Bible college.

I became a pastor. Why is a Scottish pastor doing a

comedy show at the Edinburgh Fringe?

And I'll tell you why. Because.

When I was like 16. I used to go to the.

Edinburgh Fringe. And I used to see comedians

absolutely laughing about Jesus on the cross.

I saw them taking the Mickey out of the Christian faith.

I saw them laughing about people that are Jesus followers.

And I remember. Sitting there and saying.

One day I will be. On that stage.

And I will lift up the name of Jesus.

I will lift the name of Jesus up.

And in the last few years, I've been doing it for eight or nine

years, but the last few years I have got more fervent and more

passionate. I got the cross and I put the

cross right in the centre of the show, right there.

I talk about becoming a Christian.

I talk about giving your life to Jesus.

I talk about becoming a follower of Christ.

And I know that there's a chance.

I could get cancelled. There's.

Quite a few comedians this year last.

Year being cancelled because they're not falling into the way

that the Fringe would like you to talk.

And I know. That they don't.

Want me talking about Jesus being Lord of their life?

But you know what? Maybe.

One day you'll see me. Cancelled on the front papers

and you'll be like oh wow, finally they got him.

Yeah, but I, I honestly, I don't.

Care. I'm going to keep on going until

they cancel me because I want to get take Jesus right into the

enemy's territory, right into the enemy's.

Territory. It's like, wow, you see, I want

to urge US, Church, let us not stay.

In our. Trenches, let us not.

Stay in our trenches, entrenched in our ways.

Hunker down with all the other Christians hiding.

Let us take this message. Deep.

Into enemy territory. I don't want to hide anymore.

I don't know if you become good at becoming a camouflage

Christian. You're like out there.

No one really kind of knows really fully.

Sometimes you go on a Sunday, yeah, but you don't really.

That's a great little. Phrase in it, Yeah.

No one knows. What that means, yeah.

Many of us we we live our. Life as camouflage Christians

and I say. To you.

Everybody else flies the flag. Everybody else is happy to be

aggressively putting their. Message out there and.

Meanwhile the church we keep quiet.

Meanwhile the church we hide. Meanwhile, the church we we go.

Camouflage. No, no, no.

Friends, it's time for us to take the cross right into enemy.

Territory. Right in the centre.

And wow, there it is. I love a speaker called.

Timothy Keller. And he said these words, God.

Only calls you. In for intimacy and blessing in

order to stay now, I want you to live radically for other people

in a way you never have before. We get the lovely blessing of

being together as church. I've loved it this morning.

I have enjoyed it. I'm in church every Sunday.

I'm not knocking. Church in any way?

But friends, I want you to know that some of us, we love it

here. And we just want to keep it like

this. But the reason why we come, we

get filled up, we get energised, we get empowered so that when we

go out there we can make a radical.

Difference in the name of. Jesus.

That we can absolutely take. Territory for the Lord.

We can go from this place and that we can actually like go out

there and be the name of Jesus. Right there in our different

worlds, I am got a massive lesson.

When I was a young pastor and I was, I was doing these missions

and, and I used to get the bus into, into the office and, and

basically I was at the bus stop and I got a few ministers I

needed to phone and I was kind of calling them at the bus.

Stop. And then I got onto my bus and

it was quite a quiet bus and there's a lot of empty seats, so

I got quite near the back and I did like a proper British move.

I took my coat off. And I put my coat next to me and

the bus. Yeah.

Now, if you are maybe not British, you might not fully

know. That means that seats taken.

Yeah, that seat is taken. I'm sitting here and my coat is

sitting there. Yeah, that is what that means.

That's a clear sign. So I was sitting there.

And I was making these. Calls and there's all these

empty seats and we did a couple of stops and then the bus

stopped and a young lad got on maybe. 1414 or 15?

And this young lad looks all these empty.

Seats, he goes. Past all these empty seats and

I'm on the phone and I'm watching him.

I'm thinking sit down in one of the empty seats.

What? Is wrong with you.

Sit down. All of those seats are empty.

Why are you still walking towards me?

And he's still coming. He's looking all these empty

seats and then he gets next to me.

And he asks. Me to move, I'm on the phone.

Yeah, that's another sign. Yeah, I'm British.

I'm on the phone. I'm.

Talking with someone and my. Coat is.

Sitting there, yeah, he says. Oh, will you move your coat?

You know when you let move the coat very passively aggressive.

I'm like moving my coat, put it at my feet.

And then I'm talking on the phone and the young lad starts

to talk to me. Talking to me.

I'm on the. Phone I'm like what do?

I need to do. You don't need to write it on a

bit of paper. I'm on the phone, yeah.

You don't talk to me. And I'm really like, there's a

pastor on the other phone. I'm glad you're coming.

Bringing a mission. Yeah, yeah, yeah.

We just love the lost. We love the lost.

Why are you staying there? So I love the lost.

And I says, listen, just give me a minute.

It comes off the phone. I transfer the show.

I says, oh, you, you want to chat to me?

This is what he said. He says, last night I heard my

dad be in my mum and I heard her screaming and I lay there and I

says tomorrow morning on the bus I want to sit next to someone

who might help me. She goes, I've looked all over

and I can't say she goes, you look a bit different.

She goes and I'm asking, He says, I'm asking what should I

do? And there on, I mean, how Can

you imagine for an evangelist how humbling that is?

This little lads kind of just said, yeah, I'm basically asking

you to do your job. Yeah.

I'm basically asking you, never mind your call and your phone

call. Yeah.

I'm asking you to do what you're on the planet for.

Yeah. And I'm like, oh, God.

Like, deep in my soul, I'm like, oh God, you're making all your

calls to your church mates. Come on.

And, you know, I turned and I, I, I, I shared with that young

lad and we got a chance to chat to him.

We hooked him up with the youth ministry at church.

He came along, we were able to help him.

You know, I don't know if he ever became a Christian, but we

were able to be light in that darkness.

And, you know, I want to say that like for you, we're going

to pray at the end. And I'm believing that for some

of you. You're going to have

conversations with people. That will be life.

Changing. You'll be like, ah, but how can

I do it? I know none of us.

How God hasn't trusted us? With this message, God is wow.

God hasn't trusted us with this message.

And so firstly I wanted to say that he hasn't trusted us with

the message. Secondly, I wanted to say

deliver a message deep into enemy territory.

And thirdly, I wanted to say the responsibility of passing on the

message clearly, you know. We have been given this message,

but many of us, we do not communicate it well.

We do not communicate. It well.

Many of us. We we, we, we don't.

We don't. Say it in a good.

Way we we use religious. Words.

We get a little bit. Fumbly and.

We don't really know. Talk about things like we heard

maybe pastor say and we like. Maybe we'll say, oh, I'm washed

in the blood and the person sitting there listening to you

is like, what? Happens in your church on a

Sunday. That you are washing people.

In blood. Or maybe like we had a we had a

whole influx of young people coming to our youth.

Night and there was hundreds. Of them came so I we worked at

120 young people started coming to our.

Friday night, youth night and. Basically, you know, we started

to get people to stand up and give what we call.

Testimony and they would get up and they would say.

Stuff like oh oh oh I used to be in the.

World and everyone's like, where are you now?

Where if you used to be in the world and you're no longer in

the world, where are you? And of course.

We all know what that meant, but the people listening, they, they

did not understand, they did not get what we were saying.

So, you know, we we've been asked to carry this

responsibility of pressing the message on clearly.

I don't know. If I can just get a little.

Bit help somebody can help me bring up the board is is there

somebody around who can just grab that board for?

Me. Thank you so much.

Sir, I appreciate that. I don't know what your family's

like when it comes to Christmas and games.

Do your family play? Games at Christmas, anyone?

Some people are like, no, we we don't.

We don't do Christmas here. Yeah, we don't.

Thank you so much. You do games.

Thank you some anyone else gives a little way if you do games at

Christmas, thank you. Great.

Well, our family, we play. Games at Christmas and.

Everybody. Everybody does everything they.

Can not to be on my dad's team? Yeah, my dad is a nightmare to

be in the team now. Will you play Pictionary?

So. Pictionary is this game where

you're given a word on a card. You are the.

Only one that sees it. You put the card down.

And then you draw what the card says.

Yeah. And my dad, he gets the card.

He sees it. No one else sees it.

He puts it down. And then my dad will be like

this. You ready?

You ready? Everyone's ready.

And then you draw there. And then he doesn't like that.

And then he points like that. Yeah.

And then he's like, come on, come on now.

Anybody got any idea what that might be?

Anyone got a clue? A firework is a good answer, but

it's wrong. Yeah.

Has anyone else got any clue? A river.

A river. You are so.

Prophetic wrong. Sorry, you're wrong.

You know what? We'd be like Dad.

Dog would draw, Draw Something else.

The time's running out. And then my dad would have this

little penny drop moment and then my dad would like go over

exactly what he's already done and do exactly the same again

and just point again. And then the time.

Would run out and we would be like.

Dad, what is it? What?

Is it? And he would go.

It's Turkey and we'd be like, sorry.

And he'd be like, it's Turkey. He goes, there's Britain, yeah,

he goes and that's Europe and that's.

Turkey and we would be like, we don't want to be your sons

anymore. Yeah, we we're done with.

This. And we would be like, Dad, there

are so many other ways you could have drawn Turkey.

You could have drawn the bird. You could have.

Drawn Christmas. You could have drawn any of them

and like. What is that?

And you know so. Many of us when it comes to

carrying this message. We like do what we've always.

Done. And if the person is not getting

it. We don't look at ourselves.

And think we need to do the message differently, We just.

Do it again, but louder. That is what the Christian.

Word We. Do it again, but louder.

Oh, you didn't understand. Let me say it again.

No, no, no, no. We've got to start thinking

creatively and innovatively. And that's why, you know, I love

what you guys are doing at Easter.

And I just, you know, turned to Thomas says, wow, this is what

we're talking about, doing it innovatively, creatively, doing

it differently. And it's like, wow, it's like

the same message. The message never changes.

The message Never. Changes.

But wow, Incredibly, wonderfully, amazingly, we are

able to be innovative. And creative and take.

This message in a most. Clear and powerful.

And positive way, I want to urge you, you would maybe.

Take this serious, you see. I'm going to, I'm going to do

this and I'm going to ask maybe you would do it that you would

maybe between now and Easter that you would work on your two.

Minute story. Of how Jesus has rescued.

You and how? You could give the gospel in

two. Minutes.

I want you to do it in a way. That it's got no jargon in it.

So you're not. Talking about Jesus and and kind

of blood, you're not talking about other words that they

might not understand. Every time I use the word.

Sin I. Always talk about my mess, my

rubbish, my garbage. I try to use different words

that people. Will understand and then I like

try and keep it to two minutes do the discipline.

I don't know if you've got anyone like this in your.

Life. But I've got a friend at church.

When they see you see them coming, you're thinking, oh,

here we go. Get your seat belt on.

Yeah, this is going to be a while.

Yeah, this is going to be a while.

And some of us, we cannot tell a story.

Quick, have you met those? People, they're like, oh, so we

have to. Learn to.

Cut the waffle out. Yeah, cut the waffle out.

Cut out. Seem like people.

And it was a Tuesday now. Oh, no, it wasn't a Tuesday

because we have pie on Tuesday. Yeah.

Was it a Wednesday? No, Oh no, it's fish.

It was, it was a Friday. Yeah, it was fish like none of

that's important. We want to trim it right.

Down 2 minutes. Share your message.

Share your story. How about me putting it out

there? To you that you do this.

Before Easter. I am wanting to do it to someone

who's not a Christian. You're not allowed to turn over

to your wife who's been a say for 50 years and give your

two-minute thing and go Mark Richie take.

Yeah, you're not allowed to do that.

You've got to do it. To someone who's not yet a

Christian, I'm going to ask you right now if that's a challenge.

Are you going to accept that? Are you going to take it on?

I'm going to be like, I'm going to do it and I'm going to be

uncomfortable, so why should I be uncomfortable of my own?

You should be there as well. And of.

Course, you're going to say a little bit wrong and of course

there's going to be things that are not going to be perfect.

But we want to commit. To try and being creative and

innovative and getting our message over.

And here's another quick challenge just while we're on

with it. Is it like tonight?

You know this show that I'm doing is a.

Show that I did at Edinburgh Fringe in the summer and it's.

Fun, you'll laugh, you'll enjoy. It and there's an amazing moment

where we talk the gospel right out there.

And you know, I want to encourage you that maybe you

could text someone or e-mail them or phone them or whatever

this. Today, see why don't you come

tonight? And like, come along.

Or maybe you weren't planning on coming tonight.

You could come tonight just to fill the room with laughter.

And of course, you know, like, you know, just.

Over laugh, you know. Oh.

He's not that funny. But, you know, let's laugh

anyway. Yeah, Just help him.

Jesus. Yeah, That that, that would also

be helpful. But you know, just making the

most of every opportunity. Wouldn't it be wonderful

tonight? There's going to be a moment

where we're going to get the gospel out there.

And I'm believing that people will.

Respond to Jesus and say yes to the Lord.

We have been, wow, incredibly, the responsibility of passing

this message on clearly and you know.

That. Film I told you about 1917.

When they were getting the. Eventually they got to where

they needed to get to and the message was passed over, but now

he's just a foot soldier. And he's speaking to this.

High ranked Sergeant. And he's got this message, but

the Sergeant is, who are you? You are a little foot soldier.

And you telling me what I should do with my men.

And there's that moment of intimidation.

And I want to say to you today, guys, is that if you take what

I'm saying and you go with this, there are going to be times over

the next little while where you are going to be intimidated,

where you are going to be like, wow.

I got the chance to take my comedy show to Imperial

University. Here's the deal about me.

I've never been a university. On the way down, I got so

intimidated. The enemy got into my head.

I was like, how? I mean Imperial University.

They are intelligent. They are clever people.

You're going to get up and they're going to be like.

What is this? And.

I was so feeling intimidated I phoned.

I get into the centre of London and I'm my head's gone.

I am done. I'm feeling so intimidated.

I phoned Pastor David's friend and my friend Pastor Martin's

story. I think he's been here a few

times and I says Martin, man, I am, I'm.

Going to this. Thing in half an hour I don't

even know if I can speak I'm. Done.

My head's gone. I feel so intimidated.

I says Martin. I've never been to university.

These people are intelligent. Well.

Martin, it's like he goes, I am going to pray for you.

You get that phone up to your ear right now.

He goes, I am going to. He's in his office.

He's so he's speaking in tongues.

He's shouting in the name of Jesus.

We come against this intimidation.

I'm. They're like going, yeah, people

pass him. Yeah.

I'm like, yeah, I must. Admit there was a.

Few people pushing past and I was going, oh, what is this?

I was like, keep going. And he's like.

He was absolutely praying for me and at the end of that prayer I

felt 6 feet and I thought, you know what, I'm going to go in

and I'm going to do this. And I went in and we had an

amazing time and people spoke with us at the end and a

beautiful moment of. Response and I want.

To tell you that you, if you go for this, if we go deep into the

enemy territory, if we absolutely take this message,

there will be a time when you will feel intimidated, you will

feel the enemy go, Who are you? And I'm asking you, Church, to

stand tall and say we are a child of the living God.

We come here not in our own strength.

We come here not in our own strength, but in the anointing

of the living. God, wow.

See in that film, as I'm wrapping up more, we're.

Going to just have a few moments in the presence of God.

At the end of the service, but I wanted to say this.

Is that you know the young? Soldier, he says.

I don't bring this message. On my own back, I.

Come under a higher authority and he brought the message from

from general. Erin Moore.

He says it's from. General Erin Moore.

And when he said general. Erin Moore, He took it.

He took. It and he read it and he's the

men must not go over. Do not send the men over and the

men were saved. He came under a higher authority

and I want to say today you think how can I I'm not even

like that great a Christian. I've never been to Bible

college. I don't know where dinosaurs fit

in the Bible. I don't know whether.

Adam and Eve had belly. Buttons.

I don't know. And we can get intimidated, but

you do not come in your. Own strength.

You come in the authority of the living.

God. You know, my brother and me, we

used to share a room when I was like roundabout. 16 he was 14

and. We would get into fights and you

know, we got into this fight. And there was punches and there

was blood. It was bad.

And in the middle of this fight, there was this little.

Pitter patter up the stairs. The door opened.

It was my little sister. She was 9, little small girl,

92, nearly adult. Blokes.

Fighting. And we're like, what are you

doing here? Get out.

And this little girl in the quietest voice, she just said

Dad sent me. Dad sent me as.

Soon as we heard the words. Dad sent me.

Do you want? To know what happened, the fight

stopped. Immediately.

Because she was not coming. In her own little strength, she

was sent by the Father. She's coming in the authority of

the father, and we go from this. Place and we have our.

Conversations and we. Talk to people about Jesus and

we spread and share the gospel and we take this message and the

enemy says who are? You and we say Dad.

Dad sent me, Father has sent me. Come in the authority of God.

Some of you are going to carry the presence of God in powerful

ways. I'm going to tell you one last

thing before. We have a moment of response

because I feel just start to tell you this, but you know,

when I was 15, I told you that at school, I.

Used to be wanting to see all my.

moving. I mean, when we don't know what

happened, but when you walked in, it's still.
