  1. And so if you are new, you find

  2. yourselves here in the middle of a

  3. series called Make Room. And make room

  4. is not just um you know, two words that

  5. we thought of uh that sound good. You'll

  6. see it everywhere. It's actually our

  7. vision word of the year. We're believing

  8. this year that it won't just be two

  9. words that get put on a fancy banner

  10. outside or on great screens like this,

  11. but it'll actually be things that we

  12. implement into our lives. That make room

  13. will be a theme that we consciously and

  14. deliberately go after. Make room means

  15. that we need to be slightly

  16. uncomfortable. And this year, as we step

  17. into that area of uncomfortability, I

  18. believe that we are going to see areas

  19. of making room in the lives of people.

  20. Whether it's around experiencing his

  21. presence, whether it's around provision

  22. and disciplehip, whether it's around

  23. community, would you make room this year

  24. as you join us as we navigate these

  25. texts over the next 12 months together?

  26. Make room actually comes and um Lindsay

  27. shared earlier out of Isaiah 54:2 which

    Isaiah 54:2

  28. says enlarge the place of your tent and

  29. let the curtains of your habitations be

  30. stretched out. Do not hold back.

  31. Lengthen your cords and strengthen your

  32. stakes for you will spread abroad to the

  33. right and to the left and your offspring

  34. will possess the nations and more people

  35. desolate cities. Today uh as you join

  36. us, we are continuing on with the the

  37. series Make Room. When we're talking

  38. about making room for power,

  39. more so, we are making room in faith for

  40. the miraculous power of God.

  41. As I started to unpack um this thought

  42. over the last few weeks and think about

  43. it, I came across a quote by Awtoer

  44. that's really shook me to the core. It

  45. says this. It says Awto is quoted in

  46. saying, "God is looking for people

  47. through whom he can do the impossible."

  48. What a pity that we plan only the things

  49. we can do by ourselves. I feel like that

  50. frames a lot of us um throughout our

  51. lives. It's we serve a God. We know of a

  52. God. We've seen what he's able to do.

  53. But so often we become content with not

  54. experiencing that.

  55. And so we're going to pray. And then

  56. we're going to unpack God's word

  57. and understand practically what he's

  58. called us all to do as we start to make

  59. room. My goal always as a communicator

  60. is this is to ensure that head knowledge

  61. becomes heart revelation that you can

  62. actually start out working it in your

  63. life.

  64. More elegant speakers you will find no

  65. doubtedly. So that's not my goal to

  66. impress you with great words. It's just

  67. not who I am. But what I am hoping to do

  68. is through the text teach us some

  69. practical outworkings that we can apply

  70. to our lives from Mondays to Saturday.

  71. And so as we make room, we'll apply

  72. these areas and make room for his power.

  73. So we're going to pray and then we'll

  74. jump into it. Jesus.

  75. Lord, what a privilege it is just to

  76. gather

  77. under your name. Name that's above all

  78. names.

  79. Lord, I pray that as the word goes out

  80. today, Lord, that it won't return void,

  81. but it will break chains and restore

  82. hearts. Jesus, you know where all of us

  83. are, what our heart positions are, what

  84. we need. So would you speak to us all

  85. individually and specifically for what

  86. we need as we walk out these doors?

  87. Jesus, give us the confidence and the

  88. boldness to take practical steps and

  89. outwork what you've called us to do as

  90. we make room in our lives for the power,

  91. miraculous power of God.

  92. So we just thank you Jesus for your word

  93. in Jesus mighty name. Everybody said

  94. amen. I shared a quote by Awtoer

  95. a similarly similar you know that word.

  96. Thank you. Nailed it. Yes. [laughter]

  97. Quote by a 20th cent 20th century

  98. philosopher. Um you might know him Mike

  99. Tyson.

  100. He's good. I like it. Mike Tyson says

  101. this, "Everybody's got a plan until you

  102. get punched in the face." And I've been

  103. thinking about this. I know I It's what

  104. I do, go on these rabbit holes, but I've

  105. been thinking about it in context of our

  106. of our of our word of the year, making

  107. room.

  108. And as you can tell, I don't have the

  109. facilities to be a boxer. Not made for

  110. that. It probably looks like I've been

  111. hit in the mouth a few times, but that's

  112. not the case. I'm not a boxer. I just

  113. don't have the ability. Now, don't get

  114. me wrong, I love watching boxing in UFC.

  115. Like, I love it. Like, I take my hat off

  116. to it, but my mind struggles to

  117. comprehend that someone can walk into a

  118. ring knowingly that the guy on the other

  119. side wants to take your head off. I'm

  120. like, this is not for me. Not doing

  121. that. Not playing the game. I'm like,

  122. you want to win? It's yours. You can

  123. have it. I'm just not stepping in a room

  124. and wrestling with people. Look at me.

  125. I'm built for speed, not comfort.

  126. They'll just take me out. Boom. Gone.

  127. Fight over. It's just not what I'm made

  128. to do. But I've been studying and um my

  129. background is actually in sports

  130. science. That's what I did um at

  131. university. And so I study the brains

  132. and the mindset of athletes. And uh one

  133. of the things that I've studied and

  134. learned about boxers is that we all have

  135. a fight orflight reflex.

  136. But what boxers have learned to do

  137. through training by being intentional

  138. and deliberate is changing the way that

  139. the body reacts or the way that the body

  140. reflexes to external stimuli.

  141. What they've done is they've retrained

  142. the reaction time. What they've been

  143. able to do is where the typical person

  144. when somebody throws a punch at you

  145. would cower or step back or just put

  146. their arms up and hope for the best.

  147. That's me. Like what they've learned to

  148. do is retrain themselves

  149. to absorb external stimuli and then

  150. react accordingly.

  151. And I've been thinking about this in the

  152. context of our faith and about making

  153. room for the power of God.

  154. And it reminded me of the saying which

  155. is this. Courage isn't the absence of

  156. fear. You would have heard this. It's

  157. it's acting correctly despite it.

  158. In the same manner I think about faith

  159. and go faith is not the absence of fear.

  160. It's about acting correctly despite it.

  161. And you see just like boxes we have a

  162. fight orflight reflex spiritually.

  163. And my question today is helping us all

  164. unpack whether or not we react with a

  165. fear reflex or if our response is a

  166. faith reflex. And similar to boxes, the

  167. whole concept and premise is if we are

  168. finding ourself reflexing out of fear,

  169. how do we retrain our minds and our

  170. spirits to reflect and react out of

  171. faith?

  172. And so the question is, do you have an

  173. uncontrollable fear reflex?

  174. When the world comes at you, when life

  175. gets tough, when a situation doesn't

  176. make sense, what is your reaction to

  177. that moment? Is it one of uncontrollable

  178. fear where it takes you out, you can't

  179. do anything about it? Is it a a a reflex

  180. of frustration

  181. where you just turn and point a finger

  182. at God and God, I don't understand. This

  183. is not making sense.

  184. Or can we find a better way?

  185. Can we find a place where we acknowledge

  186. what's happening, but our reaction

  187. towards that is a reflex of faith?

  188. And so what we're going to do over the

  189. next few minutes we've got together is

  190. we're going to unpack some scripture

  191. and then what I'm going to do is give

  192. you three very practical points that we

  193. can build our life and the journey of

  194. making room

  195. for the miraculous power of God. Three

  196. very basic things. Here's the thing

  197. though. Always easier to say than it is

  198. to do like most things. And what I'm

  199. hoping is that this is not just a word

  200. we hear today and we leave you here and

  201. go, "Yeah, I remember that guy. South

  202. African said something. Don't really

  203. know what he said, but I knew you spoke

  204. about the power of God." No, no. What

  205. I'd love for us to do is go home and

  206. actually implement this from Monday to

  207. Saturday. Because making room, if we're

  208. going to see the power of God in our

  209. lives, is not going to be a once-off

  210. occurrence. It's going to be a daily

  211. decision that we make in order to be

  212. uncomfortable

  213. and make room for the power of God.

  214. So this is what we're going to do. We're

  215. going to read some scripture

  216. and I'm going to tell you a few great

  217. things that I think we can learn from

  218. it. So if you've got your Bibles, would

  219. you turn with me to Luke 8

    Luke 8:40

  220. verse 40?

  221. Going to read 13 verses

  222. and then we're going to teach from it.

  223. Is that good? Great. Here we go.

  224. Now when Jesus returned, the crowd

  225. welcomed him, for they were all waiting

  226. for him. And there came a man named

  227. Gyrus, who was a ruler of the synagogue.

  228. And falling at Jesus' feet, he implored

  229. him to come to his house, for he had an

  230. only daughter, about 12 years of age,

  231. and she was dying.

  232. And as Jesus went, the people pressed

  233. around him. And there was a woman who

  234. had an discharge of blood for 12 years.

  235. And though she had spent all her living

  236. on physicians, she could not be healed

  237. by anyone. She came up behind him and

  238. touched the fringe of his garment. And

  239. immediately, the Bible says, her

  240. discharge of blood ceased. And Jesus

  241. said, "Who was it that touched me?" When

  242. all denied it, Peter said, "Master, the

  243. crowds surround you and are pressing in

  244. on you." But Jesus said, "Someone

  245. touched me, for I listen, for I perceive

  246. that what? That power has gone out from

  247. me." And when the woman saw that she was

  248. not hidden, she came trembling and

  249. falling down before him, declared in the

  250. presence of all the people why she had

  251. touched him and how she had been

  252. immediately healed. And he said to her,

  253. listen,

  254. daughter,

  255. your faith has made you well. Go in

  256. peace. And typically what we do as

  257. communicators is we'll talk typically

  258. talk about this text and preach on this

  259. text or we'll preach on the next text

  260. which is the continuation of the story

  261. of Gyrus. But what I believe is there's

  262. a clear understanding here that Gyrus is

  263. about to learn something from this

  264. encounter between the woman and Jesus.

  265. And I believe that this story and this

  266. encounter that we notice is going to

  267. play a pivotal role in the way that

  268. Gyrus responds

  269. in the next section. So we continue

  270. reading.

  271. Verse 49 says, "While he was still

  272. speaking, Someone from the ruler's house

  273. came and said, "Your daughter is dead.

  274. Do not trouble the teacher anymore." But

  275. Jesus on hearing this answered, "Do not

  276. fear. Only believe and she will be

  277. well." When he came to the house, he

  278. allowed no one to enter with him except

  279. Peter, John, and James. We'll talk about

  280. that in the father and the mother of the

  281. child. And all were weeping and mourning

  282. for her. But he said, "Do not weep, for

  283. she's not dead, but sleeping." And they

  284. laughed at him, knowing that she was

  285. dead, but taking her by the hand, he

  286. called, saying, "Child, arise." and the

  287. spirit returned and she got up at once

  288. and he directed that something should be

  289. given to her to eat. We jump to

  290. Ephesians 1 uh 19. I'll start reading

  291. from verse 16 says, "I do not cease to

  292. give all thanks uh for you." Paul

  293. writing to the church in Ephesus,

  294. remembering that you in my remembering

  295. you in my prayers that the God of our

  296. Lord Jesus Christ, the father of glory,

  297. may give you the spirit of wisdom and of

  298. revelation in the knowledge of him,

  299. having the eyes of your hearts

  300. enlightened that you may Here we go.

  301. Know what it is to hope to which he has

  302. called you. What are the riches of his

  303. glorious inheritance in the saints? And

  304. here it is. And what is the immeasurable

  305. greatness of his power towards us who

  306. believe according to the working of his

  307. great might. Three very practical tips

  308. that I'd love for us to walk away here.

  309. three practical thoughts that we can

  310. build our lives upon as we start to make

  311. room for the power of God. Here's the

  312. first one.

  313. Very simply, know who Jesus is.

  314. Gyrus built his understanding and his

  315. willingness to approach Jesus based on

  316. what he knew and what he saw.

  317. Jesus was traveling through the region

  318. and Gyrus went, "Based on what I heard

  319. and saw, I know that he's able, so I'm

  320. going to go to him."

  321. And my question to us is, how do you

  322. believe when you don't know?

  323. If you don't know what he's capable of

  324. doing, how do you have faith that he's

  325. capable of doing something?

  326. And so Gyrus intimately knowing Jesus

  327. and what he is capable of doing

  328. approaches him going, "My daughter is

  329. dying. I've heard that you can solve it.

  330. Can you come to my house?"

  331. But he approaches Jesus with a

  332. confidence based on on an understanding

  333. of who Jesus was.

  334. I've been thinking about this thought

  335. knowing Jesus and the importance of

  336. community and and us getting around

  337. people of faith.

  338. Romans 10:17 says, "So faith comes from

    Romans 10:17

  339. what?" From hearing and hearing through

  340. the word of Christ. I spoke about this

  341. at the back end of last year, but the

  342. importance of all of us individually to

  343. have our own personal and daily

  344. relationship with Christ.

  345. Unfortunately, coming to church on a

  346. Sunday is just not going to cut it.

  347. Somebody reading 13 pieces uh verses out

  348. of scripture is not going to be enough.

  349. You see, a boxer doesn't step into a

  350. ring without training.

  351. He doesn't just decide one day, I'm just

  352. going to go take on the battle. Yep,

  353. here we go. No, what does he do? He

  354. conditions himself and trains that

  355. reflex day in and day out and day in and

  356. day out and day in and day out. And

  357. sometimes that consistency looks

  358. monotonous. And sometimes it feels like

  359. as he goes through those routines that

  360. nothing's happening. But here's the

  361. thing. when he steps into the ring and

  362. suddenly notices his ability to shift

  363. from fear to action.

  364. And so if we're going to make room for

  365. God this year, it's going to start with

  366. us by knowing who he is for ourselves.

  367. That's point one. Know who Jesus is.

  368. And my question to us all today is, what

  369. does that look like for you on a

  370. day-to-day basis?

  371. My wife always says, "It's not that you

  372. don't have a priority for it's not that

  373. you don't have time for something. It's

  374. just that it's not a priority."

  375. It's a challenging thought that always

  376. just reminds me I I don't have time to

  377. do this. I don't have time for this.

  378. Like, it's maybe just not a priority

  379. because I'm not saying read a whole a

  380. whole book of the Bible every day. I'm

  381. just saying let's get in the word, Dave.

  382. Five minutes, 10 minutes. If you're

  383. doing 10 minutes, can you do 12 minutes?

  384. If you're reading one verse of the day,

  385. could you do one chapter a day?

  386. But could we start to get a little

  387. uncomfortable as we believe that God's

  388. calling us to make room

  389. for these power? It's going to take a

  390. little uncomfortability.

  391. So that's the first point.

  392. Know who Jesus is.

  393. Here's the second one. Seems simple

  394. again.

  395. Maybe for you, not for me. Here's the

  396. second one.

  397. We ought to what? Silence the

  398. negativity. So the first thing we're

  399. going to do is we're going to know who

  400. Jesus is. Simple. The second thing we're

  401. going to do is silence the negativity.

  402. J squ both Jesus and Gyrus

  403. made a conscious decision

  404. to ignore the external stimuli happening

  405. around them. They made a decision to get

  406. away from the negativity.

  407. Gyrus,

  408. someone from his own house

  409. said, "Don't bother the teacher. Your

  410. daughter's dead."

  411. I don't know about you, but if someone

  412. from my own home came, I'd feel a little

  413. despondent. I'm like, "Guess so."

  414. What does he do?

  415. Spoke about the importance of the woman

  416. with the issue of blood being healed.

  417. But what does Gyrus do?

  418. He focuses on Jesus based on what he

  419. knew and what he saw.

  420. Because what did Jesus do? Jesus

  421. accredited the woman's healing to her

  422. what? Her faith. And then what does

  423. Jesus tell Gyrus after someone brings

  424. the negativity? And what does he say? If

  425. you'd only what? Believe.

  426. And Gyrus

  427. stripping away the negativity goes, I

  428. don't know what you're talking about.

  429. But I've just seen Jesus accredit

  430. healing to her faith and he's told me to

  431. believe. So right now I'm locked in on

  432. Jesus.

  433. The negativity didn't go away.

  434. The crowds didn't just disappear,

  435. but his focus on them did.

  436. As I mentioned, I enjoy watching sport,

  437. study sport, study athletes. I enjoy it.

  438. I dive deep into the understandings and

  439. the biomechan mechanics of how people

  440. work. And one of the areas that really

  441. intrigued me, athletes speak about this

  442. calling it being in the zone or the flow

  443. state. It's when training has happened

  444. so much that when they get into the

  445. game, their body starts taking over in

  446. situations. They ignore the external

  447. stimuli and they focus solely on what

  448. they're doing.

  449. But athletes don't find themselves in

  450. the zone unless they train for it. It

  451. it's they don't just rock up and go,

  452. "Oh, let's see how this goes."

  453. A 100 meter sprinter on the block

  454. standing there, crowd shouting, athletes

  455. on either side of them is focused on one

  456. thing, the finish line and the starting

  457. gun.

  458. There's a concept in running called run

  459. your race.

  460. That's what Gyrus does. He locks in on

  461. Jesus because he knows who he is. And

  462. these three elements are going to build

  463. upon one another. We're going to know

  464. who he is. We're going to silence the

  465. negativity. And my question to us all

  466. today is, what's it in your life that

  467. you need to silence?

  468. What negativity do you need to silence

  469. in your life?

  470. Whether it's the enemy or or I'm going

  471. to be honest, people in your life.

  472. Oh, you heard it before. Are you you too

  473. sick? Don't bother the teacher about

  474. that.

  475. Oh, that prodal you believing for too

  476. far gone. Don't worry about that.

  477. That relationship that you feel like you

  478. need to work on, ah, it's too far gone.

  479. It's too hard. It's uncomfortable. Don't

  480. worry about that.

  481. But one of the tricks that the enemy

  482. tries to continually play on us is to

  483. sew that negatively.

  484. Both Gyrus and Jesus understood Proverbs

    Proverbs 18:21

  485. 18:21. Both death and life are in the

  486. power of the tongue.

  487. And so when Jesus gets to Gyrus's house,

  488. what does he do? Peter, James, John,

  489. mom, dad, you're coming with me.

  490. Everybody else, get out. Why? Because

  491. both death and life are in the power of

  492. the tongue. Jesus knew that he was going

  493. to walk in and bring faith.

  494. Gyrus focused on what he saw and what he

  495. knew went with Jesus.

  496. I've been reading something in Mark 9:24

    Mark 9:24

  497. over the last few weeks and I've been

  498. wrestling with it because I feel like

  499. it's an indication of how a lot of us

  500. find ourselves.

  501. Mark 9:24 is a story about a dad who

    Mark 9:24

  502. falls to his feet in front of Jesus

  503. going, "Lord, I need help. My son is

  504. possessed by demons and nothing seems to

  505. work.

  506. And Jesus says to him, all you need to

  507. do is believe.

  508. And the father's response stumps me

  509. because I think so often this is an

  510. indication of human nature. And the

  511. wrestle we have with the external

  512. stimuli around us. The dad looking at

  513. Jesus goes, "I believe,

  514. but help my unbelief."

  515. Like I believe, but the external noises

  516. are telling me that's impossible. Like I

  517. believe and I've seen it for other

  518. people, but I don't know if I'm worth

  519. it. Lord, I believe, but you know, the

  520. people are telling me that the prodal

  521. that's so far is too far gone and

  522. they've done too much. I believe, but

  523. help my unbelief.

  524. Feel like so often that unbelief is

  525. stirred up by the enemy and by people

  526. around us sowing negative thoughts at

  527. you.

  528. We need to get around people of faith.

  529. People like Peter, James, and John.

  530. Well, Jesus says we're going to go heal

  531. someone. Let's go. And friend, listen. I

  532. I'm not saying and standing here saying

  533. I understand the nature of everything in

  534. the sovereignty of God. That's not what

  535. I'm doing. And what I don't want to do

  536. is dismiss any hurt

  537. or pain or situation that didn't align

  538. to to to the way you expected.

  539. I I I just don't get it.

  540. I don't know why some things work out

  541. for some people and not. I don't know

  542. the answer to why good thing bad things

  543. happen to good people. I just I don't

  544. have that. But what I have is principles

  545. that I've seen my life based upon that

  546. have made significant changes in my

  547. life. And these two have been pivotal.

  548. Just know who Jesus is and strip away

  549. the negativity. Those two elements in my

  550. life has changed significant.

  551. If you're sitting on the front row,

  552. you're getting a shower because I'm

  553. sweating. So, sorry.

  554. What a powerful verse. Proverbs 18:21.

    Proverbs 18:21

  555. Death and life are in the power of the

  556. tongue. Who are you surrounding

  557. yourselves with? People of faith,

  558. community of faith,

  559. people who say, I don't know how, Luke,

  560. but I know God can. I don't have all the

  561. answers, Luke, but I believe in the God

  562. that I serve. I've seen miracle upon

  563. miracle. I don't know how, Luke, but I'm

  564. willing to come into the room with you

  565. and pray.

  566. Or we surrounding ourselves with people

  567. that are going, "Don't don't bother

  568. about it, Luke. Just you might as well

  569. start to learn to adapt because it is

  570. your lot. Cel such is life."

  571. Very simply know who Jesus is. Stand

  572. firm on that. That's how Gyrus's journey

  573. started.

  574. That's how he saw healing. The second

  575. one is eliminated the negativity. Would

  576. have been so easy for him when the the

  577. the servant came to his house and said,

  578. "Don't bother the teacher." Just to go,

  579. "All right, you're right. Let's just

  580. back it up. Guess we need to plan a

  581. funeral."

  582. It takes him at his word. Here's the

  583. third one very quickly. We need to bring

  584. Jesus into the room. So, point one, we

  585. we're going to know who Jesus is.

  586. We're going to silence the negativity.

  587. Here's the third one. Simply, we're

  588. going to bring Jesus into the room. I

  589. shared the story for some of that you

  590. don't know. At the back end of last

  591. year, my son, he was five days old. Five

  592. days, not months, not years, five days

  593. old. Found himself in Westme Children's

  594. Hospital.

  595. Doctors doing all the the tests on him,

  596. trying to figure out what's going on.

  597. Uh, sorry. Um, Lucel, we just don't

  598. know. We don't know what's wrong, but

  599. just prepare for the worst.

  600. What does that mean? like like the

  601. worst,

  602. like death, Luke.

  603. Like, you need to get ready to say

  604. goodbye to your son.

  605. I remember walking through the corridors

  606. of the hospital. And I'm weeping. My

  607. shirt's literally drenched in sweat and

  608. tears and and I've got nothing left. I

  609. remember Holy Spirit arresting my heart

  610. and just saying, "When you walk into

  611. that room, you need to speak Jesus.

  612. And I walk in and and I almost get to a

  613. place where I need to fake it till I

  614. make it. So shoulders back, eyes

  615. bloodshot, I'm going whatever it takes

  616. to bring some level of faith into the

  617. room to ensure that any faith my wife

  618. had in the room, I wasn't going to strip

  619. and bring any negativity. And I walk in

  620. and I just say in the name that's above

  621. all names, in the name of Jesus, I

  622. declare healing. It's all I had. And

  623. over the next 12 hours, I could just

  624. pray the name of Jesus. I had no fancy

  625. words. I had nothing else. But I knew

  626. who he was and I've seen what he's done.

  627. Nurses and doctors walking in going,

  628. "Prepare for the worst. We don't know

  629. what's going on. Nothing we're doing is

  630. working." And so we made a decision to

  631. kick the doctors and the nurses out and

  632. all we could do is pray. And we brought

  633. Jesus into the room. And let me tell

  634. you, it's got nothing to do with who I

  635. am. At that stage, I wasn't a pastor.

  636. Sitting in the back corner over there,

  637. that's where I love to be. I enjoyed it.

  638. It was comfortable.

  639. But we brought Jesus into the room.

  640. I stood on the fact that I knew who my

  641. Jesus was

  642. and I stripped the room of negativity.

  643. Charles Burgeon says, "Prayer moves the

  644. yarn that moves the world." But so often

  645. we find ourselves leveraging prayer as

  646. the last resort.

  647. And just again disclaimer, I'm not

  648. saying don't go to the doctor.

  649. I'm not saying don't go get the

  650. financial aid and advice that you need.

  651. I'm not saying don't go to the recruiter

  652. to to help you find a job. All I'm

  653. saying is I wonder if we can start with

  654. Jesus as a faith reflex and not a fear

  655. reflex.

  656. feel like this year if we're going to

  657. start to make room for the power of God,

  658. then we need to stir up a little

  659. righteous indignation in ourselves. Be

  660. willing to get a little bit

  661. uncomfortable.

  662. I don't know about you, but when I think

  663. about that lady standing there with the

  664. issue of blood, all I can think about is

  665. the fear and the the the

  666. uncomfortability that she had standing

  667. there watching this teacher walk by that

  668. everybody called savior

  669. and going I've heard that he can do

  670. something

  671. but the willingness to break through the

  672. crowds

  673. and stretch out in a last ditch effort

  674. just to grab the hem on his coat. Her

  675. willingness to be uncomfortable and have

  676. faith.

  677. 12 years of suffering in a moment the

  678. Bible says immediately power left him.

  679. Making room for the power of God

  680. requires us to be slightly

  681. uncomfortable.

  682. Can't keep doing the same things and

  683. expect different results.

  684. And I'm not talking about works. I'm

  685. talking about a level of faith.

  686. going to make room for Jesus and the

  687. power

  688. of God this year. It's going to take us

  689. to be uncomfortable, but it's going to

  690. start with those three principles,

  691. knowing who he is,

  692. silencing the negativity in our lives,

  693. and bringing Jesus into the room.

  694. And in a moment when we wrap up the

  695. service,

  696. some of our prayer team are going to

  697. come up. We'll have some of our pastors

  698. up here and we would love [music] to

  699. pray for you, finding a situation that

  700. seems impossible.

  701. Friends, today is the day I believe we

  702. need to throw our shoulders back a bit

  703. more. Look our problem in the eye and

  704. go, "I don't know how, God, but I know

  705. you can."

  706. In the name of Jesus,

  707. we're going to see the impossible turn

  708. to the possible. That which seems so far

  709. gone.

  710. But it starts with saying yes to Jesus.

  711. Starts with making room for him to be

  712. the Lord and Savior of your life.

  713. Revelations 3:20 says, "I stand at the

    Revelation 3:20

  714. door and knock."

  715. He's the ultimate gentleman,

  716. but he'll wait. And he's been waiting

  717. for you to open the door to him. And he

  718. stands and he knocks.

  719. Would today be the day that you open

  720. that door and say yes to [music] him as

  721. you make room in your heart for him. So,

  722. with every head bow and eye closed, just

  723. to give people a moment of privacy here,

  724. I don't want to embarrass you. I'm not

  725. going to call you forward, but I wonder

  726. on the count of three, if you want to

  727. say yes to Jesus, either for the first

  728. time you've never done it, or you know

  729. in your heart that you've walked away

  730. from God, and today's the day you want

  731. to draw a line in the sand, you want to

  732. say yes to Jesus, would you be so bold

  733. enough, would you be willing to get

  734. uncomfortable just [music] for 10

  735. seconds, just to raise your hand so I

  736. know who I'm praying for? If that's you,

  737. on the count of three, would you say yes

  738. to Jesus? One, friend, know that Jesus

  739. loves you so much.

  740. Even if you are the only person on this

  741. earth, he would have gone to the cross

  742. for you. Three, that's you. Would you

  743. raise your hand just high enough?

  744. Awesome. Hands going all across the

  745. room. Incredible. Thank you. Thank you.

  746. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank

  747. you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. I

  748. see that hand. Thank you. Thank you. At

  749. the back. Thank you.

  750. Thank you. Another hand in the middle.

  751. Thank you.

  752. Give you a few more minutes. You want to

  753. say yes to Jesus. Today is the day of

  754. salvation. The Bible says.

  755. Come on. Why don't we celebrate with

  756. those people? We believe that is the

  757. best decision that you can make. Look at

  758. me. If you put your hand up. The Bible

  759. says that for every person that puts

  760. that says yes to Jesus, the heavens

  761. celebrate.

  762. This is what I can't guarantee you. I

  763. can't guarantee you that suddenly

  764. everything's going to turn around. It's

  765. going to be perfect. But what I can tell

  766. you is that you've got a savior with you

  767. that's willing to walk the journey with

  768. you. So, we're going to say a prayer

  769. from your heart to God. If you would

  770. repeat after me and as a church family,

  771. we're going to say it together. Say,

  772. "Dear Lord Jesus, thank you for dying on

  773. the cross for me.

  774. I invite you to be Lord and Savior of my

  775. life.

  776. guide me, guard me and give me peace in

  777. Jesus mighty name. And everybody said

  778. amen.
