  1. Welcome to church. If uh we've not had

  2. an opportunity to meet, my name is Luke.

  3. I'm one of the associate pastors here.

  4. Just get the privilege and honor of

  5. serving an incredible community of

  6. believers. Um incredible team that we

  7. get to serve alongside volunteers. We

  8. get to um serve alongside people that

  9. have just gone, "Yes, we want to build

  10. God's house." And hey, we could not be

  11. more grateful and thankful for you. Um,

  12. if you've joined us and you're new, like

  13. uh, Pastor Justin said, "Hey, don't

  14. don't don't run away after the service.

  15. We'd love to meet you. Understand as a

  16. community how we can serve you and

  17. that's our heart. A place for you to

  18. find home, a place for you to come in as

  19. sharp and iron as iron sharp and Zion.

  20. Um, here's the reality. Uh, we're about

  21. to preach a message and it's a uh, we're

  22. kicking off a new series called Get

  23. Wisdom."

  24. >> Yeah. I'm glad you're excited because it

  25. is a little uncomfortable.

  26. So, if you've got that response at the

  27. end of the message, I'll be I'll be

  28. happy. Hey, here's my role as one of the

  29. pastors at our church.

  30. On a Sunday, the goal is this. It's not

  31. just inspiration.

  32. My goal is to ensure that as you step

  33. into your Monday and as you lead your

  34. families and as you grow businesses and

  35. as you've encounter people every day of

  36. your life that you are equipped to walk

  37. into the fullness of God has called you

  38. to. And so this message today is not

  39. high on inspiration, but I believe that

  40. if we apply it, if we allow our heart to

  41. be malleable enough, I believe that God

  42. wants to do a working on our heart as we

  43. unpack what it means to make godly

  44. decisions. And I believe it'll start

  45. setting us up for the for the back end

  46. of this year. I believe God wants to do

  47. a work in each and every one of our

  48. lives. So, we we're going to be

  49. unpacking uh the book of Proverbs over

  50. the next four weeks, and it'll be four

  51. principles from Proverbs that position

  52. us for success for the rest of the year.

  53. We've been speaking about making room,

  54. and one of the areas we're looking to

  55. make room for is in the room of wisdom.

  56. I'm mindful that so many people live

  57. life as if wisdom is far off concept, as

  58. if it's only attainable by a few, and

  59. that if I need to get wisdom, I need to

  60. go to those wise people. And believe me,

  61. I'm I'm all for wise counsel. Myself and

  62. Sel, we we have people in our lives that

  63. that we seek wise counsel from, but as

  64. an individual, you actually have access

  65. to wisdom. And my heart today is that

  66. you would start living in that. So,

  67. we're going to unpack that. The

  68. imperative to state here that Proverbs

  69. is not a book of promises.

  70. It's a book of guidance.

  71. Bruce Watkins says this. He says,

  72. "Proverbs is a book that gives us the

  73. skill of living in the way of eternal

  74. life." gives us the the skill. And so my

  75. question before we start is this to all

  76. of us. What what fuels your decision-

  77. making daily? Because we all have some

  78. element

  79. or or something that contributes to our

  80. decision-m if we've got to be honest

  81. with ourselves. It could be hurt and

  82. pain, could be shame, it could be self-

  83. ambition,

  84. could be confusion, it could be because

  85. we're putting safeguards around our

  86. heart and around our lives. But we all

  87. make decisions from some or other

  88. position. And my heart today is that

  89. when when we start making godly

  90. decisions, we'll make it from a position

  91. of wisdom.

  92. So often I find people talking, hey

  93. look, can you help me make decisions? I

  94. need wisdom. And I go, it's accessible

  95. to you if you just know how to tap into

  96. it. If you just know how to receive the

  97. gift. Charles Spurgeon um is quoted in

  98. saying this. I like him.

  99. Don't fight me. Fight him if you got an

  100. issue. Says this. He says, "True wisdom

  101. is the right use of knowledge. To know

  102. is not to be wise. Many men have a great

  103. deal. Uh many men know a great deal at

  104. least and are greater fools for it.

  105. There's no fool so great as a knowing

  106. fool. But to know how to use knowledge

  107. is to have wisdom."

  108. And so today we'll be unpacking how do I

  109. make godly decisions? Luke and my heart

  110. is for you to understand that making

  111. godly decisions aren't isn't just about

  112. the big picture things.

  113. But as we align to the word of God,

  114. making godly decisions will put us on

  115. track for the will of God for our life.

  116. So, we're going to pray and then we're

  117. going to unpack it. You ready? I love

  118. it. Jesus, we just thank you, Lord.

  119. What a privilege and honor, Lord it is

  120. to gather under your name, the name

  121. that's above every other name. Jesus, we

  122. just pray that you'd speak to us all

  123. individually as we sit here. Lord, I

  124. pray that your word would go out, but it

  125. won't return void, but rather that it

  126. would break chains, restore hearts, but

  127. ultimately, here's the goal, Lord,

  128. that those who are far from you, Lord,

  129. that salvation will come to this house

  130. today. that people may know and believe

  131. that you died on the cross. You rose

  132. again for the joy set before you. The

  133. Bible says, Lord, and that joy was us

  134. and knowing that we could have eternal

  135. life with you. So I pray, Jesus, have

  136. your way. And all God's people said,

  137. "Amen." I'd love to tell you a story.

  138. I'll preface a story here. My wife's on

  139. that side, so I'm going to talk about it

  140. here for a second. I'll preface a story

  141. saying I love my wife. Blanket statement

  142. so we all are clear on that. I love my

  143. wife. But who knows in the in marriage

  144. you get two types of people. You you get

  145. the type that um have a great

  146. understanding of directions like

  147. phenomenal and they just they somehow

  148. know where they're going. And then you

  149. get those that have decided that the

  150. apps that have been created do a good

  151. enough job and you don't have to stress

  152. and remember things. you just follow the

  153. apps. Got to be honest, I'm the latter.

  154. I uh I'm directionally challenged, would

  155. you call it? So much so when my wife and

  156. I first came to Australia, we're going

  157. to church on a Sunday for six months.

  158. Literally every week, I'd be like, "Is

  159. it left here or is it right here?" She's

  160. like, "We've been doing this for six

  161. months. Get it together." But one day we

  162. were dropping my daughter at school. Um,

  163. and she started school this year and we

  164. we're dropping her at school and we drop

  165. her off and we need to get back for a

  166. meeting and I'm mindful that there's

  167. traffic in the morning. So I stick it in

  168. ways. There's this debate going on in

  169. our team. Ways is better than Google

  170. Maps. We all know that.

  171. Amen. Come on. I got amen at the back.

  172. So everything else that's said after

  173. this is untrue. No, ways is the best.

  174. Uh, but I stick it in ways and uh, as I

  175. stick it in ways, we're driving and we

  176. hit some traffic and as we hit traffic,

  177. my wife turns to me and says, "Just just

  178. go left." Yeah.

  179. I'm like, "But ways says that."

  180. She turned to me and said, "Just trust

  181. me." Now men, in my short span of

  182. marriage, the one thing I've learned

  183. when your wife says just trust me,

  184. there's no option in there, but I'm a

  185. grown man and I've made my decision cuz

  186. I'm a man. So I trusted my wife and I

  187. went left. And so I go left and

  188. women are like, "Yeah, someone finally

  189. got it. We're learning. We take long

  190. guys, guys." Well, I go left and now

  191. we're going left and we need some more

  192. traffic. So she's like, "Go right. Go

  193. left, go right. And we kept responding

  194. and reacting to every problem we find in

  195. our way. Every time we turned left or

  196. right, we hit a new set of traffic. We

  197. hit a new problem. And we kept reacting

  198. according to the problem that was in

  199. front of us. Eventually, we get to an

  200. intersection

  201. and I watch cars go past me. I'm like,

  202. that looks familiar. That looks

  203. familiar. That looks familiar. Come to

  204. be that all those cars were behind me.

  205. I'm seeing wives elbow husbands at this

  206. stage. It's awesome. See, I told you

  207. just listen to ways.

  208. But here's the thing. I think so much,

  209. you know, we we're so much like us in

  210. that situation when it comes to wisdom.

  211. You see, wisdom, just like ways, not

  212. only plots out the best route for your

  213. life, but it also calls out when there's

  214. accidents,

  215. calls out where where there's incidents

  216. for you to avoid. It calls out the path

  217. of least resistance sometimes. But so

  218. often instead of listening to ways, we

  219. make decisions based on knee-jerk

  220. reactions. And I love what Awtoer says

  221. about this. He says this around this

  222. issue of wisdom. He says, "Wisdom, among

  223. other things, is the ability to devise

  224. perfect ends and to achieve those by the

  225. most perfect means." And here's the part

  226. that I love. It sees the end from the

  227. beginning. So there can be no need to

  228. guess or conjecture.

  229. Many of you going, "Well, that's great,

  230. Luke. Thanks for that piece of

  231. information, but why? Why do we need

  232. wisdom? Why do we need to make godly

  233. decisions and better yet daily godly

  234. decisions?" Well, I'm glad you've asked.

  235. Let me tell you. Proverbs 1:7 says this.

    Proverbs 1:7

  236. Says, "The fear of the Lord is the

  237. beginning of knowledge. Fools despise

  238. wisdom and instruction.

  239. The problem with this verse, and there's

  240. only one, is that we interpret the word

  241. fear incorrectly.

  242. When we read fear, we think trembling,

  243. scared. But the word's better translated

  244. into the word reverence. And so when we

  245. apply that lens to the word, it's the

  246. reverence of God that is the beginning

  247. of wisdom.

  248. And so the reverence of God leads to a

  249. desire to live in the fullness of what

  250. he has called us to which leads us to a

  251. desire to seek the perfect will of God

  252. for for our lives. Which leads to a

  253. Roman 12:2 type of life which says this.

  254. Romans 12:2 says, "Do not be conformed

    Romans 12:2

  255. to this world, but be transformed by the

  256. renewal of your mind, that by testing

  257. you may discern what is the will of God,

  258. what is good and acceptable and

  259. perfect."

  260. Ephesians 5:15 says this, says, "Look

    Ephesians 5:15

  261. carefully then, how you walk, not as

  262. unwise, but as wise, making the best use

  263. of the time because the days are evil.

  264. Therefore, do not be uh foolish, but

  265. understand what the will of the Lord is.

  266. And do not get drunk with wine, for that

  267. is debortionary, but be filled, the

  268. Bible says, with the spirit, addressing

  269. one another in psalms and hymns and

  270. spiritual songs, singing and making

  271. melody to the Lord with your heart,

  272. giving thanks always for everything to

  273. God the Father in the name of our Lord

  274. Jesus Christ. And here it is, submitting

  275. to one another out of reverence for

  276. Christ. And so wisdom is not just this

  277. abstract concept, but is rather used for

  278. daily application to draw us into the

  279. perfect will of God.

  280. So that's the why.

  281. Now, how which is typically the hard

  282. part and like I said, this part of the

  283. message is not the inspiration part.

  284. This is the equipping part. This is

  285. where I've got to be honest that if this

  286. is just words to your ear and you walk

  287. out here and don't change anything, then

  288. this message will be nothing. Because

  289. the thing about wisdom, it requires

  290. application.

  291. So, uh this is the equipping part. But

  292. remember, we all love each other. We're

  293. all on the journey together and learning

  294. together.

  295. Remember that. So, if you got your

  296. Bibles with you, what I'd love to do is

  297. unpack a piece of scripture and from

  298. that piece of scripture, give us three

  299. ideas about how we can live in wisdom

  300. and make daily godly decisions. So, if

  301. you've got your Bible with you, turn

  302. with me to First Kings 3:3.

    1 Kings 3:3

  303. First Kings 3:3. If you've got your

    1 Kings 3:3

  304. Bible and you've got it, say, "I've got

  305. it."

  306. You guys are much quicker than the first

  307. service, let me tell you. I was helping

  308. them. If you're in Deuteronomy, you need

  309. to move forward. If you're in Matthew,

  310. swing all the way back. First Kings 3:3

    1 Kings 3:3

  311. says this.

  312. One of my favorite pieces of scripture

  313. says, "Solomon

  314. loved the Lord." Uh, love the Lord

  315. walking in the statutes of David his

  316. father. Only he sacrificed and made

  317. offerings at the high places. That's a

  318. whole different message in itself. And

  319. the king went to Gibian to sacrifice

  320. there, for that was the great high place

  321. Solomon used to offer a thousand burnt

  322. offerings on the altar at Gibian. The

  323. Lord appeared to Solomon in a dream by

  324. night. And God said, "Ask what I shall

  325. give you." And Solomon said, "You have

  326. shown great and steadfast love to your

  327. servant David, my father, because he

  328. walked before you in faithfulness, in

  329. righteousness, in uprightness of heart

  330. towards you. And you have kept for him

  331. this great and steadfast love, and have

  332. given him a son to sit on his throne."

  333. That's Solomon. And now, oh Lord my God,

  334. you have made your servant king in place

  335. of David my father. Although I am but a

  336. little child, I do not know how to go

  337. out or come in. And your servant is in

  338. the midst of your people whom you have

  339. chosen, a great people to many to be

  340. numbered or counted for multitude. Give

  341. your servant therefore an understanding

  342. mind to govern your people that I may

  343. discern between good and evil for what

  344. is able to govern this your great

  345. people.

  346. goes on and says that God responds in

  347. verse 12.

  348. Behold, the Lord says,

  349. "I do according to your word. Behold, I

  350. give you a wise and discerning minds

  351. that none like you has been before

  352. uh has been before you at least, and

  353. none like you shall arise after you. I

  354. give you also what you have not asked,

  355. both riches and honor, so that no other

  356. king shall compare with you all your

  357. days. And if, again, this is important,

  358. if you will walk in my ways, keeping my

  359. statutes and my commandments as your

  360. father David walked, then I will

  361. lengthen your days. Solomon understood

  362. his calling. He loved the Lord and his

  363. desire was to walk into the will of God

  364. for his life, but he also understood his

  365. inadequacy. He understood that he'd been

  366. called to something, but realize his

  367. inadequacy to fulfill it.

  368. Many of us find ourselves in the same

  369. position.

  370. See the favor of God in our life. We see

  371. a situation. We we find ourselves in a

  372. calling.

  373. Many times we don't ask for the wisdom

  374. to outwork that calling in our lives.

  375. God on God went on not only to to

  376. qualify Solomon for the work he called

  377. him for, but gave him so much more than

  378. he even asked for.

  379. So this is what we're going to do. three

  380. three very basic simple applications

  381. about how we walk in wisdom

  382. and make godly decisions.

  383. So, you ready? Ready. All right. Here we

  384. go. Here's the first one. Super complex.

  385. You know me, simple South African. 1

  386. plus 1 is three.

  387. And so, we've got to keep it simple for

  388. me. Here it is.

  389. You ask and apply.

  390. James 1:5-6 says, "If any of you lacks

    James 1:5–6

  391. wisdom, let him ask God who gives

  392. generously to all without reproach, and

  393. it will be given him." Now listen, it

  394. said, "But let him ask in what?" In in

  395. faith with no doubting, for the one who

  396. doubts is like a wave of the sea that is

  397. driven and tossed by wind. Let him ask

  398. in in faith. And faith without works is

  399. so if we ask for wisdom, we need to

  400. apply and outwork it.

  401. Well, that's all good and well, Luke,

  402. but how do I do that? So, we start by

  403. asking, Lord, Lord, can I have wisdom?

  404. Lord, your word says that you are

  405. gracious enough to give beyond measure.

  406. I love Proverbs 4:7. It says the

    Proverbs 4:7

  407. beginning of wisdom is this. Get wisdom.

  408. Don't you love the Bible? Sometimes

  409. you're like, But how Lord it was about

  410. 15 years ago I learned something around

  411. decision- making that I would love to

  412. share with you from a practical aspect

  413. it's something that has shaped the way

  414. that I make decisions that I s think is

  415. a simple way and a manner that we can

  416. apply so it has a starting position and

  417. here's the starting position we we start

  418. by revering God so we started there and

  419. reverence leads to uh is the start of

  420. that wisdom like we spoke about. So it

  421. starts from that position.

  422. But then the question is, Luke, how do I

  423. make daily godly decisions? And here's

  424. the outwork.

  425. It's a simple line, but it has

  426. transformed the way that I make

  427. decisions considering my past. It says

  428. the things I've been through, my

  429. testimony, what my schedule has looked

  430. like, life in the past, and my present

  431. situation. What do things currently look

  432. like for me? But yet more importantly,

  433. my future. What has God called me to?

  434. What are the things that I believe is

  435. put on my heart to achieve? Considering

  436. those three things, my present, my past,

  437. my past, my present, and my future, what

  438. is the wise thing for me to do?

  439. So, let's outwork this very simply, but

  440. I think you all are smarter than the

  441. 8:30. You are not allowed to say that. I

  442. can't say. No, you you are the smarter.

  443. No, no, I'm joking.

  444. How do we outwork this practically?

  445. Simple example, but I think you can all

  446. relate it to any situation in your life.

  447. The boys at church invite me to a footy

  448. game. I like sport. Heck, I'll go watch

  449. any live sport. So, if you tell me where

  450. there's a game, I'm going. That's my

  451. natural inclination. I want to go to

  452. live sport. So, they invite me. The

  453. question is, do I go or don't I go?

  454. This is how I process it. Considering my

  455. past, what has the last few weeks look

  456. like for me and my family? Has it been

  457. slightly chaotic? Has my kids got the

  458. best of me? Have I been diligent and

  459. invested time in my marriage and my

  460. relationships with other people? The

  461. present situation. I I know my calendar

  462. for the next few weeks and today is not

  463. looking good.

  464. And my future situation, what's my

  465. heart? My wife and I want to leave a

  466. legacy to our kids. And one of those

  467. legacies is a spiritual legacy where

  468. they've got a relationship with King

  469. Jesus. And therefore, that requires

  470. investment from me. And so considering

  471. those three aspects, what's the wise

  472. thing for me to do? It's probably not to

  473. go to the game.

  474. For you, it could be something

  475. different. You might have spent time

  476. with your family. You've invested.

  477. Calendar's looking great. So, could be

  478. the wise thing for you to go. And I know

  479. that's a simple uh correlation or

  480. example, but think about it in sense of

  481. big decisions as well. Do I eat this? Do

  482. I not eat this?

  483. Do I marry them or don't I marry them?

  484. Do I take that job or do I not take that

  485. job?

  486. Do I move or don't I move? Do I stay and

  487. be planted or don't I?

  488. And so the decision-making criteria that

  489. I think if we ply from the from the

  490. start point of reverence to God and

  491. wanting to be in line with the will of

  492. God for our lives, then can start

  493. shaping the way that we make godly

  494. decisions. Remember what we said? We

  495. said that if we would apply wisdom to

  496. the daily decisions we had, we wouldn't

  497. be going off route. But I think so often

  498. we just make decisions just, yeah, that

  499. seems like a good idea. What? No harm,

  500. no foul. Like, oh, that's not a big

  501. decision. So that won't impact my life

  502. too much.

  503. But considering my my past, my present,

  504. and my future, what's the wise thing for

  505. Luke to do? We all have things like

  506. that. So that's the first thing we ask

  507. and apply. Simple. There ends the

  508. lesson.

  509. Here's a second one. You need to align

  510. that decision to scripture.

  511. First Kings 3:14 says that uh Solomon um

    1 Kings 3:14

  512. held the statutes and commandments of

  513. the Lord and held it close to him.

  514. And so when you're making a decision,

  515. the question you need to ask yourself

  516. is, does this decision align to what the

  517. word of God says? So often I I have

  518. people coming to me as a pastor asking

  519. me questions

  520. and my first question is does it align

  521. with the word of God? Because because

  522. sometimes I'm going to be honest we are

  523. all people but some of the questions

  524. that I get I'm like wow

  525. read your Bible. That's the most wisdom

  526. I can get you. Believe me I'm not

  527. pointing a finger because that's me as

  528. well. I'm like Luke have you considered

  529. what the Bible says? Oh should probably

  530. start there.

  531. What does what does the Bible say about

  532. your decision?

  533. You can pray and seek God, but good way

  534. to hear from God is to read him.

  535. So, we align the decision-making

  536. criteria to to the word of God.

  537. Proverbs 74 uh 71-4 says, "This says,

  538. "My son, keep my words and treasure up

  539. my commandments with you. Keep my

  540. commandments and live. Keep my teaching

  541. as the apple of your eye. Bind them on

  542. your fingers. Write them on the tablet

  543. of your heart. Say to wisdom, you're my

  544. sister and call insight your intimate

  545. friend.

  546. So we ask for wisdom. We apply in faith.

  547. We align it to the word of God and what

  548. God's word says. Here's the final one.

  549. We we seek the peace of God.

  550. See, the thing about wisdom and peace

  551. doesn't necessarily mean it's the easy

  552. part. I think so often we think, "Oh,

  553. it's easy. If it's peaceful, it needs to

  554. be easy."

  555. In the short life that I've lived, I've

  556. come to realize that's just not the

  557. case. Peacefulness doesn't always mean

  558. mean easy or ease.

  559. And so when we seek peace, Proverbs 3:1

    Proverbs 3:1

  560. says this. Says, "My son, do not forget

  561. my teaching, but let your heart keep my

  562. commandments for length of days and

  563. years of life, and peace they will add

  564. to you." Proverbs 3:17 says, "Her ways

    Proverbs 3:17

  565. are ways of pleasantness, and all the

  566. paths are peace."

  567. One of my favorite Bible verses a lot of

  568. you would know is Philippians 4:6-7.

    Philippians 4:6–7

  569. Verse 5 says, "The Lord is at hand. The

  570. Lord is close." And then it goes and

  571. says, "Do not be anxious about anything,

  572. but in everything through prayer and

  573. supplication, make your requests known

  574. to God." And here it is. And the peace

  575. of God which surpasses what? All

  576. understanding, wisdom,

  577. would guide or guard your heart and your

  578. mind. And so often we make the easy

  579. decision, but it's not necessarily the

  580. peaceful decision.

  581. You know, I'll give you an example. Many

  582. of you know that Sel and I um were part

  583. of a quite a a flourishing church in

  584. South Africa, a church that was

  585. impacting nations. We were leading um

  586. quite large teams and just just part of

  587. a phenomenal move of God. And I remember

  588. driving home one day from from church

  589. and God I felt Holy Spirit prompt me in

  590. that moment and say, "Luke, you've

  591. become the ceiling for the ministry.

  592. it's time you step out the way. And

  593. initially my heart was like, have I done

  594. something wrong? And I felt Holy Spirit

  595. just softly say, no, no, you've done a

  596. good job, but you've done what you

  597. needed to do.

  598. It's time for someone else to step in,

  599. take it to the next level.

  600. Long story short, it it ended up being

  601. was Danell and I moving to Australia, a

  602. decision that made no sense.

  603. We sought God. We applied wisdom. But

  604. the thing that we followed was a sense

  605. of peace

  606. unexplainable.

  607. A lot of people were confused by the

  608. decision because we were living in what

  609. we thought was the call of God in our

  610. life.

  611. But we followed peace.

  612. You remember I'll never forget the first

  613. day I went to work.

  614. I stood in front of the mirror

  615. and I just looked in the mirror and I

  616. just said, "God, have I just made the

  617. worst decision of my life?" Like, is

  618. that it for me, God? Like, have I just

  619. messed this up completely? Have I missed

  620. you somewhere in this decision-making

  621. criteria?

  622. Have I lied to myself? Have I Have I

  623. just just messed this up completely and

  624. and you're done with me? Have I lost my

  625. opportunity, Lord? I remember standing

  626. in the bathroom and just tears pouring

  627. from my eyes,

  628. just just weeping because I was so

  629. worried that I'd missed the things of

  630. God.

  631. And all I knew I had in myself was

  632. peace. And I couldn't explain it because

  633. the situation didn't make sense. And for

  634. seven years, Nell and I just sat in an

  635. anonymity.

  636. We just sat and God just refined us for

  637. seven years. Refined our marriage and

  638. the way we viewed each other, revi

  639. refined our hearts and in a moment of

  640. uncomfortability. And if anybody knows

  641. when you go through refining, it's not

  642. comfortable. But we had peace.

  643. And the crazy thing is I wouldn't be

  644. standing up here

  645. if it wasn't for following peace.

  646. and what we're able to be a part of

  647. within this church and the community,

  648. the friends we've made, the family we've

  649. we we've created and added.

  650. Wisdom doesn't always make sense to the

  651. common the common mind. But the things

  652. of God call us into perfect alignment

  653. with him.

  654. just an awkward standard South African,

  655. not the most eloquent talking,

  656. but simply standing here saying, "You've

  657. got an opportunity to live into the

  658. fullness of God because I simply

  659. responded to a call of wisdom and peace

  660. upon my life. Got nothing to do with me.

  661. a decision I felt to my heart. God said,

  662. "Whether this decision was right or

  663. wrong, because you believe that you're

  664. honoring me with your decision, I will

  665. bless that decision because I sought

  666. peace and I sought wisdom." And my heart

  667. was positioned from a position of

  668. reverence and said, "God, even when this

  669. feels uncomfortable and everybody around

  670. us are asking questions that we can't

  671. answer, Lord, what I know is that you've

  672. called us."

  673. He called us into seven years of

  674. anonymity. And so for seven years, all

  675. we had was peace and wisdom. Daily

  676. decisions of peace just molding us and

  677. directing us from one place to another.

  678. Wisdom doesn't have to be this

  679. far-fetched faroff concept that can only

  680. be applied for daily decisions. But I

  681. stand here as living proof going it was

  682. because of the daily decisions we made

  683. that we're here. There was not one

  684. orchestrated massive decision that we

  685. made that we're here. It was just daily

  686. wise decisions that have aligned us into

  687. the call of God on our lives.

  688. Ask for wisdom and apply. Align it to

  689. scripture.

  690. Seek the peace of God.

  691. Obtaining wisdom is a gift. It's a gift

  692. from God and applying it is one of the

  693. greatest gifts.

  694. But in order to do so, it starts with us

  695. all just accepting the greatest gift

  696. that was on offer for us and is on offer

  697. for us. It's the gift of salvation.

  698. For the joy set before you, the Bible

  699. said he endured the cross. That joy was

  700. each and every one of you individually

  701. sitting in this room. He had you in mind

  702. when he died upon that cross. As he hung

  703. on that cross with nails pierced through

  704. his hands, it was your faith. It was

  705. your life. It was your story that had

  706. that he had in mind. The Bible and

  707. you've heard it so so often. It was

  708. saying you people say it's love that

  709. that held him to the cross that loves

  710. you

  711. individually. He had you in mind.

  712. And so in a moment what I'd love to do

  713. across this room is give people an

  714. opportunity to respond to Jesus to allow

  715. him to be the Lord and Savior of your

  716. life.

  717. It's a small step of a big decision.

  718. Revelations 3:20 says that he stands at

    Revelation 3:20

  719. the door and knocks. Oh, he's the

  720. ultimate gentleman. And he'll just knock

  721. on the heart of your door right now.

  722. That's what he's doing. Just let me in.

  723. Let me in.

  724. And the moment you open up that door,

  725. the love, peace, and the grace and the

  726. wisdom

  727. just flow and emanate through you.

  728. In this world, you'll have trouble. But

  729. the Bible says, "Take heart for I

  730. overcome." So, with every head bowed and

  731. eye closed to give people a moment of

  732. privacy, I don't want to embarrass

  733. anybody. I'm not going to call you

  734. forward. I'm not going to ask you to do

  735. something you're not comfortable with.

  736. But if that's you either for the first

  737. time or you know in your heart you need

  738. to recommmit your life to the Lord and

  739. start this journey of walking in wisdom,

  740. then would you be bold enough just to

  741. raise your hand high enough and long

  742. enough that I know who I'm praying for

  743. and then you can put it down. The count

  744. of three. One, friend, know that Jesus

  745. loves you so so much. Two, would you

  746. have the courage to say yes to him

  747. today? You don't raise your hand to me,

  748. but you raise it to him. three. If

  749. that's you, you want to commit your life

  750. to the Lord Jesus

  751. all across the room.

  752. Christians praying everywhere,

  753. believing that God's encountering his

  754. people online. If that's you,

  755. even if you're sitting at home, would

  756. you raise your hand? Say, "That's me."

  757. Come on, we're going to say a prayer

  758. together. Whether you raised your hand

  759. or not, but you know in your heart that

  760. you said yes to Jesus today that as a

  761. church family, we want to say this

  762. prayer together with you. Would you

  763. repeat after me? You say, "Dear Lord

  764. Jesus, thank you for dying on the cross

  765. for me.

  766. Lord, I invite you to be the Lord and

  767. Savior of my life.

  768. Guide me, guide me, and give me the

  769. strength

  770. to walk in the wisdom that you've called

  771. me to.

  772. in Jesus mighty name.
