  1. okay awesome you can grab a seat church

  2. and uh I know for those who like the

  3. order and routine you're twitching a

  4. little bit right now like um the pastor

  5. hasn't counted how many songs and we

  6. were just getting going it's okay we are

  7. uh doing things a little bit differently

  8. this morning we will have some worship

  9. at the end and we're also going to have

  10. some ministry so it's going to be a um

  11. an awesome morning but really looking

  12. forward to what the Holy Spirit's going

  13. to do in our midst and

  14. uh wow so we've been doing a series um

  15. as part of Lent um so Lent is uh a

  16. period of fasting in the life of the

  17. church in the 40 days and the lead up to

  18. Easter and really the three practices

  19. historically that the church has focused

  20. on during season of Lent is uh fasting

  21. giving to the poor and prayer and these

  22. all come from uh teaching of Jesus in

  23. Matthew 6 and so we've called the series

  24. the secret life because Jesus taught

  25. these practices and he actually said uh

  26. when you do these things in secret and

  27. so we've been talking about these

  28. practices we've been talking about how

  29. we live in such a world now where no one

  30. does anything in secret you know people

  31. eat their dinner and it's on Instagram

  32. and uh all of those things and and yet

  33. Jesus calls us to a life that is uh

  34. secret and so over the past few weeks

  35. we've talked about prayer fasting and

  36. giving um not in that order but those

  37. are the three things we've been talking

  38. about and so I'm going to finish the

  39. series this morning and so in Matthew 6

  40. there's actually this common theme that

  41. we look at when we read these uh

  42. passages so in Matthew 6 uh 4 it says

  43. "So that your giving may be in secret

  44. and your father who sees what is done in

  45. secret will reward you." And then in in

  46. uh 66 it says "But when you pray go into

  47. your room shut the door and your father

  48. who is in secret will see what is done

  49. in secret and will reward you

  50. it says "But when you fast in verse 17

  51. anoint your head and wash your face so

  52. that your fasting may not be seen by

  53. others but your father who is in secret

  54. and your father who sees what is done in

  55. secret will reward you." See there is a

  56. common theme in Matthew 6 and it's

  57. actually the theme that God wants to

  58. reward

  59. us god actually these practices are not

  60. practices in and of themselves they are

  61. not merely just disciplines to for the

  62. sake of discipline but Jesus in his

  63. teaching repeatedly says these are

  64. practices that actually carry a reward

  65. with them so Matthew 6 teaches that God

  66. rewards what is done in secret for him

  67. and right now some people are probably

  68. really comfortable with this idea of God

  69. as a rewarder some people are thinking

  70. flip um is this the uh will Aaron be

  71. here in a white full white suit next

  72. week talking about some hyper prosperity

  73. might get some veneers in you know opens

  74. her mouth we don't need lights the teeth

  75. just shine you know what I'm saying like

  76. oh I don't know like what's going on

  77. with this thing as God as a rewarder so

  78. that's what we're going to unpack this

  79. morning hebrews 11:6 is actually one of

    Hebrews 11:6

  80. my life verses and it says this "Without

  81. faith it is impossible to please him for

  82. he who comes to God must believe that he

  83. exists and that he is a rewarder of

  84. those who diligently seek him." So when

  85. we come to God there is two dispositions

  86. we need number one we need to know he

  87. exists the other disposition is that we

  88. actually need to know that he's a

  89. rewarder it doesn't ask our opinion on

  90. whether we're comfortable with the idea

  91. of God being a rewarder it doesn't ask

  92. us have our life experiences trump that

  93. reality so that no longer seems true to

  94. us it doesn't say do an inventory work

  95. out whether it's comfortable for you or

  96. not to view God as a rewarder it's

  97. actually a commandment that he who comes

  98. to God must believe he exists and

  99. believes that he is a rewarder of those

  100. who diligently seek

  101. him god is a rewarder and our

  102. recognizing of this is essential right

  103. so why for some of us is there a little

  104. bit of bristle when we think of this

  105. idea of God as a rewarder well sometimes

  106. we're like "Hey isn't everything done by

  107. grace?" And if everything is done by

  108. grace how does this um h how does this

  109. work if God is also a rewarder and

  110. rewards things that are done i like what

  111. Dallas Willard says he said "Grace is

  112. opposed to earning not to effort."

  113. Grace is opposed to earning not to

  114. effort and that's why Paul actually in

  115. uh Colossians 1:29 says "To this end I

    Colossians 1:29

  116. strenuously contend with all the energy

  117. that Christ so powerfully gives me." He

  118. says "I use all of my energy but I

  119. actually realize it's what Christ gives

  120. me." You see grace is not opposed to

  121. effort but it is opposed to earning c

  122. lewis tells a story of a boy who uh he's

  123. it's his dad's birthday coming up and he

  124. um wants to buy his dad a birthday

  125. present but he's like a six-year-old boy

  126. so he's got no money so he goes to his

  127. dad and he says "Um hey I'd like to buy

  128. you a birthday present." And so his dad

  129. says "Okay hey here's six p you can go

  130. and buy me a birthday present." So he

  131. happily goes down to the shop he uh

  132. looks all around he chooses the present

  133. that he wants he pays the six pence he

  134. comes back and he gives it to the father

  135. on his birthday the father opens it he

  136. hugs his son he's so blessed and then um

  137. CS Lewis says only a fool would think

  138. that the father was 6 p

  139. richer you know and so you might have

  140. heard that uh Christian band called six

  141. pence none the richer and their idea is

  142. that actually everything we have even

  143. the ability to diligently seek him is

  144. all through his grace but it doesn't

  145. mean that grace is opposed to effort it

  146. doesn't mean that we uh have no part in

  147. playing to diligently seek him it just

  148. means that even when we do diligently

  149. seek him God is six pence none the

  150. richer it's not like he was going "Wow I

  151. can't wait for Aaron to add his strength

  152. oh I'm going to move when Aaron finally

  153. adds his strength to what I'm wanting to

  154. do he's not sitting there waiting for my

  155. six pence but when I choose to take the

  156. time to give that thing that will bless

  157. his heart he moves in response to it

  158. even though he was the author of it all

  159. you see grace opposes earning not

  160. effort and so when we think about this

  161. topic as a rewarder some are like "Oh

  162. yeah I've heard this gone wrong." you

  163. know where all of a sudden someone's um

  164. taking up offerings for their private

  165. jet or um you know um and you know it's

  166. a double if they take up an offering for

  167. their private jet and tell you that you

  168. can have a 10-fold return if you sew

  169. into it you know um just uh sew into my

  170. jet and we'll give you a tenfold uh you

  171. can receive a tenfold harvest so some of

  172. us are like "Oh yeah that thing of God

  173. is a reward." We know what it's like for

  174. that to be

  175. manipulated but I'd like to say this

  176. morning God's goodness cannot be

  177. overstated but it can be

  178. misunderstood god is actually the very

  179. definition of goodness you cannot

  180. overstate the goodness of God you can

  181. try and distort it but when you distort

  182. it you don't end up with something

  183. better than God he is eternally good he

  184. is the standard of good this is actually

  185. what the temptation in the garden was to

  186. try and find some goodness outside of

  187. God and it does not exist some people

  188. may distort the goodness of God they

  189. might try and uh only look at the

  190. goodness of God as material blessings or

  191. those kind of things but they cannot

  192. come up with a picture that's actually

  193. better than who God

  194. is because he is the standard of

  195. goodness god's goodness cannot be

  196. overstated but it can be

  197. misunderstood and so God is a

  198. rewarder when we approach him we must

  199. believe that he exists and that he is a

  200. rewarder but you see Hebrews 11 goes on

  201. to tell us a little bit of what that

  202. looks like and in Hebrews 11:33 it says

    Hebrews 11:33

  203. um it's talking about the heroes of the

  204. faith and it says "Who through faith

  205. conquered kingdoms enforced justice

  206. obtained promises." So this is talking

  207. about the people of God in the Old

  208. Testament and their victories it says

  209. they stopped the mouths of lions

  210. quenched the power of fire escaped the

  211. edge of the sword were made strong out

  212. of weakness they became mighty in war

  213. put foreign armies to flight women

  214. received back their dead by resurrection

  215. and we're kind of like "Wow that's like

  216. the kind of reward I want they conquered

  217. kingdoms they saw the dead restored they

  218. done all that then it's talking about

  219. the same

  220. faith and it says some were

  221. tortured refusing to accept release so

  222. that they might rise again to a better

  223. life others suffered mocking and

  224. flogging and even chains and

  225. imprisonment they were stoned they were

  226. sworn into they were killed with the

  227. sword they were they went about in she

  228. skins of sheep and goats afflicted whom

  229. the world was not worthy

  230. of and all these through commanded

  231. through their faith even though they did

  232. not receive what they promised because

  233. God had something better intended for us

  234. that with us they would be made perfect

  235. you see here Paul is actually he's

  236. giving this this context that the same

  237. faith the same rewarding God sometimes

  238. brings immense breakthrough on this side

  239. of eternity sometimes the healed bodies

  240. uh get healed in the name of Jesus

  241. sometimes the financial breakthrough

  242. comes sometimes the promotion comes and

  243. that stuff happens and it is the

  244. blessing of God and people who try and

  245. say "No God doesn't care about blessing

  246. people materially." It's not true he

  247. does bless his children

  248. materially but that's not the only way

  249. he turns up as a

  250. rewarder you know sometimes it is the

  251. faith to pursue during a hard season

  252. that is the reward because it's actually

  253. sewing into eternity a reward that

  254. cannot be had on the earth you see

  255. sometimes we have amazing breakthroughs

  256. here on earth and sometimes we have

  257. breakthroughs in eternity and what we

  258. know is whether it's now or in eternity

  259. God is a rewarder who can be trusted he

  260. God's rewards manifest in our present

  261. life and they also manifest in eternity

  262. that's why Jesus said in Mark 29 "Truly

  263. I say to you there is no one who has

  264. blessed houses or brothers or sisters or

  265. father or children or lands for my sake

  266. and for the gospel who will not receive

  267. a hundfold now in this time houses and

  268. brothers and sisters and mothers and

  269. children i don't want a hundfold of my

  270. brother but that's okay um I'll work on

  271. that." Um that might be where the next

  272. part comes in with

  273. persecutions you get a hundfold or you

  274. my brother I'm telling you it's going to

  275. come with

  276. persecutions and in the age to come

  277. eternal life so he says hey there will

  278. be material blessings on this life but

  279. be aware they also come with

  280. persecutions and then he shares the

  281. other side of it and to eternal life

  282. that God is a rewarder and he wants to

  283. bless us so how do we get into trouble

  284. with this idea of God as a rewarder i

  285. think sometimes the way we get into

  286. trouble is when we think we know what

  287. the reward we're going to receive

  288. is now I believe we should pray for

  289. certain things we should believe for

  290. certain rewards that's not wrong but

  291. sometimes what happens is we get

  292. hyperfocused on one kind of reward so

  293. whatever's going on in our world

  294. everything is about that one thing so

  295. you know if you're uh looking for a

  296. house you know everything you're like

  297. praying about it you're believing for it

  298. so everything comes uh through the lens

  299. of well I'm believing for this house

  300. that we're looking to buy and so what

  301. happens is um you receive a word and

  302. someone says I believe you're going to

  303. see the goodness of God in this next

  304. season you go "Yes my mansion's coming i

  305. know it." Like "Yes the house I want."

  306. It's just amazing because I went through

  307. that house and then the next day someone

  308. told me "I'm going to see the goodness

  309. of God." And so we hyperfocus on this

  310. one area like now I'm not praying about

  311. other things i'm just believing I'm

  312. going to see the goodness of God in this

  313. one area and what happens is it becomes

  314. very binary right because sometimes God

  315. does provide that thing that we want and

  316. sometimes in his wisdom he has another

  317. way of getting us to the place where we

  318. want to go but when we're hyperfocused

  319. on one thing we create this binary

  320. outcome which means either God's good or

  321. he's terrible based on whether I get

  322. what I want

  323. and so God as a rewarder part of the

  324. revelation is actually realizing I can

  325. trust you to be the rewarder i don't

  326. have to believe necessarily to have

  327. faith for the reward i have faith that

  328. you are the rewarder and when my faith

  329. is in you as a rewarder I can survive

  330. those

  331. things that seem like disappointments

  332. because here's the reality the nature of

  333. the reward is not within our

  334. control ultimately we need to play our

  335. part yes we diligently seek God but the

  336. nature of the reward is not within our

  337. control

  338. and sometimes faith has been

  339. uh seen as if if we hyperfocus on one

  340. thing then God will provide it and uh

  341. sometimes we miss the goodness of

  342. everything God's doing in our life

  343. because we're focused on one

  344. thing and sometimes we need to widen and

  345. actually realize his goodness and the

  346. rewards that he is bringing us you know

  347. I think to the time when um my dad had

  348. recently been saved and then had a

  349. stroke and passed away and you know

  350. hearing that the pastor from the church

  351. that didn't really believe in healing

  352. turned up and prayed and absolutely

  353. believed my dad was going to be healed

  354. and yet he was um you know tragically

  355. passed away and so in that moment it's

  356. like well is God really a rewarder like

  357. I thought God was a rewarder and then

  358. this happened right so sometimes we're

  359. dealing with pretty big disappointments

  360. sometimes we are dealing with things

  361. that are large in our world and are like

  362. how does this work

  363. out and I think one of the beauties when

  364. you journey with God and you try your

  365. best and ask him to help you to keep a

  366. soft heart you see seasons of reward

  367. that you could never imagine

  368. you know I remember the first time

  369. sitting down with a that I sat down with

  370. one of our youth when I was youth pastor

  371. and he opened up and began to share

  372. about what it was like never having met

  373. his father and I remember in that moment

  374. being able to share my story and us

  375. connect in a way that I never would have

  376. connected you know had I not been

  377. through that now I still would have

  378. chosen not to go through that but in the

  379. midst of that I was like "Wow God

  380. there's even a sense of reward in this

  381. season that I've gone through even in

  382. this hard thing you're still using it

  383. you're still a rewarder even the worst

  384. things you can work together for

  385. good." And then in Genesis 15 he

  386. actually says to

  387. Abraham "See we get rewards in this life

  388. we get rewards in eternity and then he

  389. actually says "I am your reward." See

  390. there's actually no greater reward than

  391. the reward that he is our reward his

  392. very presence with us and that's what it

  393. was talking about in Hebrews when it

  394. said "Hey they died believing for the

  395. promise but God had something better for

  396. us." It wasn't the something better that

  397. it meant all of our material wishes

  398. would come true it was something better

  399. that we would live with our sins

  400. forgiven with the Holy Spirit anointing

  401. us with the power of God with the

  402. ability to love and be set free from

  403. things he's like "Wow." So God himself

  404. is our

  405. reward far beyond anything else

  406. but this

  407. morning I do want to uh challenge us if

  408. maybe we've had some disappointments

  409. along the way and maybe as a result of

  410. those disappointments we're kind of like

  411. "Hey I'm okay with eternal rewards but

  412. something's happened to my faith where I

  413. no longer expect to see the goodness of

  414. God in the land of the living." You know

  415. maybe there's something that's shifted

  416. in me where I'm like "Wow I no longer

  417. have faith for things the way I used to

  418. because of disappointments because of

  419. that thing that didn't happen because of

  420. in some instances really painful

  421. things." And actually Proverbs 13 says

  422. "Hope deferred makes the heart sick but

  423. a longing fulfilled is a tree of life."

  424. And so sometimes what happens is when we

  425. encounter disappointment we actually go

  426. to a place where we no longer have hope

  427. and we begin to defer hope and sometimes

  428. what we think we're doing is we're

  429. protecting ourselves from uh you know

  430. this um disappointment but actually

  431. what's happening is we're a sick heart

  432. is developing

  433. i remember uh when I was I think just

  434. about to turn 21 um my uh neither my

  435. brother nor sister are Christians and so

  436. my mom and I decided that we would go to

  437. a Hillsong conference together and that

  438. was a really big deal for us it was like

  439. oh wow we'll do this it will be amazing

  440. um you know it was in the height of uh

  441. Hillsong and Darene check and we're like

  442. wow this will be amazing we're going to

  443. uh book it and go together we probably

  444. because our family uh weren't all

  445. Christian we kind of didn't have that

  446. sort of experience regularly as a family

  447. so it was going to be something really

  448. special so we heard um my mom uh

  449. listened to Radio Rema she heard a

  450. company organizing uh trips so I thought

  451. "Sweet we'll sign up." And so um you

  452. know it cost us a few thousand dollars

  453. each we bought a a package that included

  454. flights tickets accommodation and we're

  455. like "Oh this is going to be amazing."

  456. And then um a few weeks later we find

  457. out hey that company that you've just

  458. bought your tickets through has gone

  459. into receiverhip and we're ah and then

  460. they said "But don't worry what they've

  461. been doing is they've been putting the

  462. money into a separate account so your

  463. money will be there it'll be okay." So

  464. okay that's cool and then we done some

  465. inquiry and they're like "Oh no what's

  466. happened is everyone else's money went

  467. into that um separate fund for some

  468. reason yours just got left in the

  469. general account." And um someone says

  470. "Why didn't you buy insurance?" If we

  471. had bought insurance we would have paid

  472. it to them and they still would have got

  473. even more of our money so um wouldn't

  474. have worked in this case so um we hadn't

  475. bought insurance and we were like "Oh

  476. few thousand." And neither of us were

  477. that motivated to pay another few

  478. thousand and so I was like "Oh they're

  479. advertising on Remma." And I'll be

  480. honest I'm like "I'm going to send an

  481. email to Remma i'm going to go through

  482. and just I'm going to pull on their

  483. heartstrings." And I'll be honest in my

  484. mind what I was like I could see like

  485. Reema were going to do this great

  486. campaign and like we want to send this

  487. mom and son to Hillsong you can picture

  488. it right i'm like what a great moment uh

  489. Reema didn't see that moment they just

  490. said "We're very sorry for your loss."

  491. Um I was like "There's a chance here

  492. feel good." Like mother and son

  493. traveling together i was like I let them

  494. know my dad passed away when I was 12 i

  495. was trying all the heartstrings i'm like

  496. "Surely this is a story that you want."

  497. And so I'm like "Oh God." Like there's

  498. there's going to be some way you're

  499. going to come through in this situation

  500. and it was like "Oh no we didn't get our

  501. trip." And so many years later I was in

  502. a service where someone was like "Hey

  503. talking about God restoring things that

  504. we missed out on." And I was like "Oh."

  505. All of a sudden I hadn't thought about

  506. that money in years and all of a sudden

  507. it it it sprung to my mind and I was

  508. like "Hey whatever happened with that?"

  509. Like and I felt like the Holy Spirit

  510. speak to me and he's like "No I already

  511. took care of that." I was like "Oh." And

  512. I began to think and when I was

  513. approaching my 30th birthday my brother

  514. who I insulted earlier and when I tell

  515. this part of the story you'll realize

  516. I'm the bad brother and he's the good

  517. brother when I was 29 approaching my

  518. 30th he phoned up and he said "Hey last

  519. year I helped," he was working in London

  520. at the time earning really good money

  521. and so he phoned up and said "Hey last

  522. year I helped your sister um come to

  523. London to visit me and so I realized

  524. it's your 30th this year i want to um

  525. pay for a trip for you and Sarah." I was

  526. like "Oh how nice that's amazing how

  527. generous." And we had just been thinking

  528. "Yeah so maybe not persecutions maybe

  529. you do want a hundfold of my brother i

  530. don't know so that wasn't usual for our

  531. family even though it's generous like

  532. that's never happened since this was a

  533. uh I was like "Flip when as I was

  534. approaching my 40th I was like I

  535. remember what you did for my 30th." Like

  536. come on uh and

  537. so just before that I've been praying

  538. and see my mom had actually gone on to

  539. be a missionary over in Puerto Rico and

  540. uh I was like "Oh I'd really love to

  541. visit mom." And um we were youth pastors

  542. and Brody will tell you that youth

  543. pastors don't generally get trips to

  544. Puerto Rico unless they're doing

  545. photography because um it's uh it's hard

  546. um so I was like I don't just don't know

  547. if we can afford it and so then my

  548. brother phoned this and he's like I'd

  549. like to pay for your trip somewhere i'm

  550. like I don't know if he's thinking

  551. Puerto Rico right but he gave us this

  552. cash contribution towards going to um so

  553. we went over to Puerto Rico were able to

  554. take my nephew came with us um and so we

  555. went visited mom where she was so

  556. special then we uh went back to LA

  557. actually uh for those who know Brad

  558. Walker we met Brad Walker in LA my mom

  559. came we um it was just amazing we got to

  560. um spend this time together and then

  561. here's the amazing thing my dad was an

  562. absolute rock and roll music fanatic he

  563. buddy Holly was his favorite he had over

  564. 3,000 records we had a music room in our

  565. home and he wanted nothing more than to

  566. visit the states but he never got to he

  567. actually had American friends and pre-

  568. internet he used to send them talking

  569. tapes so he'd actually record on a tape

  570. and send it to them and they would send

  571. them back and I would always get in

  572. trouble because I would be out the back

  573. throwing a ball against the wall playing

  574. like Martin Crow through the V timing it

  575. beautifully and my dad would be like

  576. "I'm doing the talking tape." And all I

  577. could hear

  578. is I was like "Dad they're finally time

  579. cover drives." But he funnily enough he

  580. didn't have the appreciation because he

  581. was doing his talking tapes but you know

  582. my dad had always dreamed of going to

  583. America and so we have this moment where

  584. it's uh me and Sarah and Elijah and my

  585. nephew Clayton and my mom and we go to a

  586. 50s diner and there's a jukebox there

  587. and we we put on Buddy Holly and there's

  588. just this moment where it's like wow you

  589. know as much as I would have loved to

  590. have been at the Hill Song conference I

  591. would never have traded it for that

  592. moment one of the most special moments

  593. of my life to have Sarah there Elijah my

  594. nephew Clayton my mom sitting there

  595. knowing this is what dad would have

  596. loved to have done and he couldn't do it

  597. but we're here together wow God you are

  598. so so

  599. good because he is a rewarder

  600. now I know that has that story has the

  601. the the finishing that you're like "Yeah

  602. well maybe my story doesn't have that

  603. finishing." And does every area on this

  604. earth end exactly like that no but God

  605. is a rewarder and he is a rewarder for

  606. eternity and he will take the things we

  607. missed out on and and and bring eternal

  608. reward but he is also a rewarder in this

  609. life and one of the things I've

  610. discovered is it's really subtle the way

  611. this filter comes in when we had

  612. expectations that weren't met because

  613. unmet

  614. expectations cause us to defer hope and

  615. so this morning in just a moment we are

  616. going to have a time of ministry and for

  617. some people I think it there's maybe

  618. been the subtle thing that's happened

  619. where

  620. uh you know you used to have this real

  621. uh belief that you're going to see God's

  622. goodness in this life and maybe that's

  623. just waned a little bit through

  624. disappointment maybe there's even as I'm

  625. talking about that there is the thing

  626. that you can think of that you missed

  627. out on that you're like man that's the

  628. thing that holds heavy in my life that's

  629. the one that's the prayer that wasn't

  630. answered that's the thing that I still

  631. can't make sense of and I am not

  632. suggesting to you this morning that we

  633. will have an answer to make sense of

  634. everything but what I am believing is

  635. that the weight of that thing can fall

  636. off you this morning that the goodness

  637. of God would be restored you know maybe

  638. for some of us we've been hyperfocused

  639. the other way on earthly rewards and we

  640. actually just need to process well maybe

  641. I'm in a season of God being my reward

  642. maybe I'm in a season of storing up

  643. treasure for heaven and that's okay as

  644. well and so this morning what we want to

  645. do is I've we've asked a ministry team

  646. and to be honest um I sometimes do say

  647. this this is a morning where man I

  648. encourage you to respond because we're

  649. simply going to be praying the goodness

  650. of God released over people where you

  651. know they're probably not going to ask

  652. you a whole lot of questions about what

  653. you want prayer for they're just going

  654. to pray that God's goodness would be

  655. restored to us that we would be a people

  656. that wouldn't be hyperfocused on this

  657. world but we would also know that we

  658. have a father who chooses to turn up in

  659. ways to show us how amazing he is he

  660. chooses to take a a cancelled trip and

  661. turn it around 10 years later make it

  662. the most amazing thing the most special

  663. moment because that's who he is he is a

  664. rewarder of those who diligently seek

  665. him and the greatest reward of all is

  666. actually that we get to live with him if

  667. you just want to close your eyes um if

  668. you're here this morning and you've

  669. never uh put your faith in Jesus you've

  670. never said "Hey uh that you want to give

  671. your life to Jesus." Then I want to uh

  672. say a prayer this morning for you if if

  673. you're like "Man I know I'm in that

  674. place." What we believe the gospel was

  675. simply this that Jesus came and he paid

  676. the price for the wrong things that we

  677. had done so that we can give our lives

  678. to him and when we do he forgives us our

  679. sin he gives us a brand new start and we

  680. begin to live life his way i'm just

  681. going to say a prayer this morning and

  682. if you're like man I want to be in that

  683. prayer this morning aaron I haven't

  684. given my life to Jesus but I'm in a

  685. place where I'm sick of doing things my

  686. way and I want to do things God's way if

  687. that's you this morning just with every

  688. eye closed um if you want to give give a

  689. wave of your hand and I'm the only one

  690. looking in the auditorium but if that's

  691. you this morning you're like I know I

  692. need to give my life to Jesus I want you

  693. to include me in that prayer Aaron then

  694. I just ask just give me a wave of your

  695. hand awesome i see that hand i see that

  696. hand

  697. awesome if you raised your hand or if

  698. you should have I'm just going to say a

  699. prayer now and we're not all going to

  700. repeat it out loud but you can uh pray

  701. it in your voice uh under your breath or

  702. out loud however you want if it's your

  703. prayer if you're like "Man I want to

  704. give my life to Jesus." These words are

  705. not the end of the conversation they are

  706. the start of a journey

  707. but they are the starting point of

  708. reconnecting to God so Lord this morning

  709. I come to you and give my life aresh to

  710. you thank you for sending Jesus to

  711. forgive me of my sin lord I confess of

  712. the wrong things that I've done and Lord

  713. I'm sick of living my life my way so

  714. Lord I ask this morning that you would

  715. make me new you would make me born again

  716. and you would give me a new

  717. life in Jesus mighty name amen and you

  718. know if you said that prayer this

  719. morning we would love to connect with

  720. you after the service but and uh just

  721. help um connect you with Jesus and so

  722. you know you can come forward at the end

  723. of the singing time but what's going to

  724. happen now is we are going to go into a

  725. time of worship and

  726. uh I really believe we're going to just

  727. see some things fall off some people's

  728. lives i actually think there are people

  729. here with past disappointments that

  730. maybe you didn't even realize were

  731. hanging on and this morning there's

  732. going to be a beautiful freedom that's

  733. going to come and there are people who

  734. aren't even sure what they need but they

  735. just want more of the goodness of God in

  736. their life and this morning we're going

  737. to pray and just believe that God's

  738. goodness would be displayed there are

  739. people that are going to their their

  740. relationship with God's just going to be

  741. different a as you begin to meditate on

  742. that idea that God is your rewarder and

  743. maybe some of the lust for things of

  744. this world is going to fall off and this

  745. revelation of just how good Jesus is is

  746. going to come and so we're going to sing

  747. this morning and just as we uh sing

  748. these first couple of songs we just

  749. invite you to come forward and there's a

  750. ministry team that would love to pray

  751. for you to see the goodness of God

  752. restored lord thank you for your

  753. goodness thank you that you do love us

  754. Lord thank you that you are the rewarder

  755. Lord that you reward in this life Lord

  756. you reward in eternity and ultimately

  757. that you are our reward and so Lord I

  758. pray for each person that has maybe a

  759. sense of hope deferred each person that

  760. just needs to see your goodness

  761. ar you meet with us again we declare our

  762. dependence on you lord no ministry team

  763. has the ability to change someone's life

  764. but Jesus you do and so Lord we confess

  765. our dependence on you we again say "Holy

  766. Spirit come holy Spirit come may this be

  767. a holy moment lord may scales fall off

  768. eyes lord may there be

  769. freedom and great breakthrough in Jesus'

  770. name." Amen amen
