-
Amen. Bless you guys. Thank you, Pastor
-
Sarah, for the lovely um words earlier
-
on. It's hard to believe it's a year
-
gone and you guys are doing a fantastic
-
job. Like, as we were sitting here last
-
week and it was packed. There wasn't a
-
there wasn't a seat in the place. And
-
you know what? You know what that does
-
to our heart? Love it. Because that's
-
the heart of God that people would be
-
would would would be drawn by a spirit
-
and saved and discipled and and equipped
-
where they can share their the gospel,
-
the good news to their friends. In fact,
-
can I take this off?
-
Okay. Bless her that she's the wife.
-
Here you go. Thanks, Debs. Hey, no,
-
thank you. And look, I just want to say
-
this starting off as well because we we
-
this is our second week here in about
-
seven weeks and people have said to me,
-
"Oh, do you still come to our church?" I
-
said,
-
"Absolutely. That's that's our family.
-
This is this is our house." But um you
-
need to realize that what what has
-
happened is that I just opened the elim
-
and said look if we can go anywhere and
-
preach or or encourage young pastor
-
whatever it might be we're happy to do
-
that cuz you mean we we we carry
-
something in the spirit of God. We're
-
like mothers and fathers in the faith
-
and that's not boasting. We're not
-
nothing special but doors have opened.
-
In fact next week and then the following
-
Sunday we're in Christ Church. So, I'm
-
preaching and and then Debbiey's doing
-
Mother's Day somewhere and then we're
-
home for about two weeks and then we're
-
down at House of Breakthrough in
-
Gizbborne
-
and we're going to Cambodia for three
-
and a half months on missions. So, we've
-
just committed to saying, "Hey guys, if
-
we can help anyway, I I don't know how
-
it's going to go. We need your prayers."
-
Um, but we said, "Look, if we can help
-
you guys do what you're doing, we'll
-
come. Just let us know." And of course,
-
Cambodia, they're a little bit slow
-
getting back to you. Like six weeks
-
later, they get back, they said, "Pastor
-
Trev, we'd love to have you and Debbie
-
here." They run a ministry where uh
-
young girls who's been trafficing and
-
stuff, they they actually help them get
-
out of that and and be trained up over
-
the next couple of years to be, you
-
know, how to get into work and all that
-
sort of stuff. So, Debbie will be great
-
in that area. I'll be able to help
-
pastors and stuff. So, guys, it's great.
-
I mean, who said retire? It's riff iron.
-
It's just different, but it's great. But
-
again, we are so proud to be in the
-
house today. And uh thank you, Pastor
-
Aaron, for trusting me to
-
um cuz you don't know what's going to
-
come your day. Somebody said to me,
-
Trev, you can do what you want and walk
-
away. And Aaron's got to clean up the
-
mess. I thought, I'd never do that. No,
-
no, no, man. I tell you what, wherever
-
we go, we'll always bring encouragement,
-
you know, because Jesus is awesome.
-
Okay. Can I encourage you as well, guys?
-
Pastor Aaron asked me to speak on
-
missions and um can I encourage you if
-
you ever get a chance to go overseas on
-
a mission trip, a short-term mission
-
trip, some like might be like Lily, get
-
a long one, but if you get a chance, I
-
want to say take it. It'll change your
-
life. I mean, seeing all our cultures,
-
experiencing all our cultures and every
-
it's just it's a blessing. And you know
-
what? You get blessed by going, but you
-
also bless them by being there. So, I
-
just want to encourage you if you can do
-
that, do it. We've got some slides here
-
that short-term missions that we did do.
-
And you can see the team there. And
-
that's Cambodia, actually. The left hand
-
side, this one is Samoa, I think. The
-
next one's Fiji. Is
-
it Fiji? Look at them. Look at the top
-
middle one. That's before we went.
-
Mission Iron had hair and I had dark
-
hair. But but what I want to say is guys
-
like I apologize for people who's not in
-
the photographs because I can't put
-
everything up. But what I want to say is
-
this. What I realized while looking at
-
this was that we didn't do anything
-
different there than what we do here. We
-
showed the love of God. You know in fact
-
I was lucky to go into missions in 1993.
-
I think it was 93 and uh with pastor
-
Norm from Gizbborne and in them days all
-
as we done as a team we had to wait in
-
the house all day long and then at night
-
time they would have evangelistic
-
meetings. Pastor Norm would pray and
-
then we'd be part of the team. But what
-
happened over the years especially with
-
coming through to to pastor Tarang uh we
-
got to because I've been in so many
-
years in a row like nine 10 years in a
-
row I built strong friendships with the
-
pastors and they trusted me. And what I
-
realized was I asked him, he said,
-
"Look, you were only allowed six people
-
at one time." And I said, "Look, can can
-
we bring a slightly bigger team in?" And
-
he said, "What t what size?" And I said,
-
"17." And we brought 17 people from
-
Taranga. Seriously, from from this
-
church, seven. But but here's the thing.
-
What I realized was, guys, we're all
-
gifted differently. We had people who
-
could build a clanding, who could jump
-
on their roof and kneel down the tin
-
roof with people who could paint and
-
stuff. So because here's the thing, you
-
know, helping people practically is a
-
big thing. Amen. So what I'm saying with
-
what you just seen on the photographs,
-
feeding the homeless and all that, we
-
already done it here and we just took it
-
to somewhere else. But we've seen people
-
get saved and get set free. Now, I'm
-
going to tell you a funny a funny story
-
in a minute, but the word mission means
-
a specific task or duty assigned to a
-
person or
-
persons to do. All right? A specific
-
task or duty assigned to a group of
-
people or a person to do. When Pastor
-
Deb and I were down and we were down to
-
South Island a few weeks
-
ago and we we had we had a thought about
-
do we do the bike trail ebike. So I
-
talked to pastor Iron before left.
-
Aaron, what do you think of that trip
-
from Cromwell down to Clyde? Brother,
-
you should do it. It's a beauty. Now I'd
-
only seen some of the track from the
-
main road when we were at Alex once
-
coming home cuz you can look across the
-
lake, right? So Debbie and I talked and
-
we thought, "Okay, our mission is to do
-
this." We'd never been on an ebike in
-
our life. We hadn't been on an ordinary
-
bike for about 40 years, apart from once
-
Malcolm loaned me a bike to come down to
-
church once. And I'll not tell you, I
-
could hardly walk after. But this is
-
never been on an e bike in life. So we
-
we we we meet this guy on a Saturday
-
morning. He gets us on an ebike each to
-
drive around the car park and shows us
-
what buttons to pre push and stuff. He
-
said, "Listen, by the time you get to a
-
certain spot, you'll know how to ride
-
the bike." I said, "Sweet." So, we asked
-
him, we said, "Hey, how far is it?" "Oh,
-
it's about 30 km."
-
47, right? Never slept as well in my
-
life after it. So, we we we're on these
-
bikes and and seriously, there's just a
-
odd little slope as we're heading along.
-
We' we'd be riding for about 5ks and I
-
don't know what I had done but I've
-
obviously hit a button somewhere that
-
knocked the bike off and put it manual
-
cuz the next minute Debbie flies by me
-
and I thought what and I'm tell I'm
-
seriously these bikes are like something
-
like 15 kgs and weight. So she goes by I
-
can catch her. I went up this little
-
hill. I had to get off the bike and the
-
old pride was getting me honey slow
-
down. So, I'm walking with a bike
-
thinking and I'm thinking in my head,
-
there's no way I can do this. I cannot
-
do this mission. I am going to fail
-
badly. I'm only on a small hill and I
-
haven't even started. Of course, it's a
-
woman saying, you know, God knows who to
-
give us as a
-
Wi-Fi. He knew what I was lacking, if
-
you know what I mean. So, Debbie
-
realizes, "Honey, you've been you've
-
been doing it in manual. You turned the
-
bike off." I said, cuz I said to her,
-
"Honey, we we got to take these bikes
-
back. We we can't we hang it down there
-
and look nobody nobody will know if we
-
don't do it because we didn't tell
-
people we were doing it. Nobody will
-
know anything. Keep it to yourselves.
-
She said you forgot to switch it back on
-
properly. So So anyway, I was showing
-
this nice photos. No, keep go away from
-
that one. Go to the first one. This one.
-
Look, it looks beautiful. Hey, look at
-
the scenery and stuff. We even got to
-
this place where they give you coffee.
-
They're on a little boat on the lake.
-
There's two boats on the lake. You can
-
buy a tea or a coffee. We didn't bother
-
with that because we thought no, we
-
we've still a bit of a journey to go
-
yet. And then we've seen
-
this that is like
-
this. I am telling you, I don't think me
-
and my wife have prayed as much over a
-
period of about 35 kilometers. Honestly,
-
Debbie fell off the bike a couple of
-
times. She wouldn't let me take a
-
photograph and put it on social media. I
-
said, "Honey, are you
-
okay?" Here's the thing, guys. The good
-
news is we did accomplish the mission,
-
right? It took about five hours. We did
-
accomplish the mission, right? I said to
-
Debbie last night, honey, how cool was
-
that to finish the mission? That was
-
good. I says, would you do it again?
-
No. And what I want to say is this guy,
-
but we were on the mission to do
-
something. We wanted to do the ride. We
-
wanted to finish and we finished it. You
-
with me? When we're on a mission, guys,
-
you know the
-
anx. They left home and they went
-
overseas for our benefit. The person who
-
done the greatest mission ever was Jesus
-
Christ who left his home in heaven and
-
come onto this earth. Why? Because he
-
loved us. And the thing is we carry the
-
presence of God. I love this prayer
-
present mission because that's the
-
thing. See, without prayer, you're on
-
your own strength. But you know, we
-
carry the presence of God because we're
-
born again. But the prayer and then the
-
reaching out is so so so important. You
-
with me? The great commission. Matthew
-
28:18-20. Then Jesus came to them and
-
said, "All authority in heaven and on
-
earth has been given to me. Therefore,
-
guys, when you read your Bible and you
-
come there, therefore, you need to know
-
why it's therefore.
-
Yeah. Therefore, why is therefore
-
therefore?
-
See, you you better take note of what's
-
coming behind it. You with me.
-
Therefore, he's getting their attention,
-
guys. Let's say, look at me. Listen to
-
what I'm going to say. Look at what
-
happens. Go and make disciples of all
-
nations, baptizing the name of the
-
Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit,
-
and teaching them to obey everything I
-
commanded you. And surely I will be with
-
you always, even until the end of time.
-
Guys, as disciples, he didn't say make
-
comforts. He said make disciples. That's
-
someone who follows Jesus, who practices
-
his way. He said, "Command them to do
-
the things I commanded you to do." With
-
love, everything comes from love. But
-
you want to realize within that love,
-
there is miracles. There is healing.
-
There is freedom.
-
There is joy. There is life. You know,
-
we're people. We're people who are not
-
called to cause strife, but to bring
-
life. Come on. Amen. So, he's saying to
-
them, guys, take heed. This is what I
-
want. The bottom line is guys, love is
-
the key. Love is the key. Jesus is love.
-
Jay
-
John put this quote, "The greatest thing
-
you can do in life is to make Jesus
-
known to others."
-
There's maybe some people here this
-
morning and you give your life to
-
Jesus,
-
but you've maybe been anxious about
-
sharing your faith, about sharing being
-
a believer in Jesus. And you know, God
-
has got people that you're around who he
-
really wants to use you to touch. He
-
really wants to let himself be seen
-
through you, if that makes sense. But
-
there's maybe somebody here this morning
-
and you give your life to Jesus. It
-
might have been years ago. It might have
-
been months ago. But but there's been
-
something that's that's holding you back
-
from sharing just sharing the love of
-
Jesus. Not talking about preaching to
-
people. Just sharing that love of Jesus.
-
You know, I don't know if there's
-
anybody here or not, but if there is,
-
I'd like you to be bold enough to stand
-
now. If that's you, if you've been in
-
that place, yeah, it's good. It's okay
-
to stand. Stand up. If you if you feel
-
that's you, but think of what I said.
-
Yeah, it's okay. It's okay. You know, I
-
had a a brother in Gizbborne and I don't
-
know, he was saved for about 5 years and
-
he said, "Well, Jeff, I wish I could do
-
what you do." And I said, "What do you
-
mean?" He says, "I wish I could tell
-
people about Jesus." I said, "Have you
-
not told anyone?" He says, "No, I'm too
-
scared
-
to I'm scared in case a little curse at
-
me." Whatever. I said, "You know what,
-
bro? Who cares what they do? Just reach
-
with the love. He loves them. He cares."
-
So Lord, I pray and I thank you for each
-
and everyone who was courageous to stand
-
this morning. And Lord, I pray in Jesus
-
name that you would move by by your
-
spirit through their lives that they
-
would share the love of Jesus in a
-
practical way. And Lord, when the
-
opportunity comes to share their faith
-
because you're the game changer, Jesus,
-
that they would share their faith in you
-
and their hope in you in Jesus mighty
-
name I pray. I break all fear in Jesus
-
name from off their lives right now in
-
the name of Jesus. And I pray Lord
-
freedom ensuring the good news of the
-
gospel through their lifestyle through
-
praying and loving on people in Jesus
-
name. Let's give the Lord a clap guys.
-
Thank you
-
guys. I listen I I I thought nothing
-
about that. My wife said to me this
-
morning, "Honey, maybe you need to do
-
this."
-
She did in the car coming from home. She
-
said, "Maybe you need to do that." I
-
thought, "I haven't got that in my
-
notes." I thought, "Oh, there's
-
something to that." So, there you go.
-
That's good. But here's the thing, guys.
-
Making Jesus known. Our mission is to
-
make disciples, not just comforts. J.
-
John quote. The only thing that matters
-
is that people come to know Christ. John
-
3:16. To come to know Christ. People
-
don't know. Lots of people do not know
-
the real Jesus. He's not a swear word.
-
He's not a religious not. He's somebody
-
who's full of compassion and kindness
-
and love and forgiveness and mercy who
-
came onto this earth guys to enable us
-
to have eternal life. He didn't have to
-
come but because of his love. But lots
-
of people honestly they haven't heard of
-
the real Jesus the son of God who was
-
full of love and compassion who came
-
onto this earth for us. Amen. You know,
-
love is a verb. It's an action word.
-
It's an action. You got to do something
-
with it. Do you know I know Jesus cast
-
out demons. I know Jesus healed the
-
sick. I know Jesus set people free. But
-
you want to know something else? He also
-
fed people. He also fed them a couple of
-
times, at least 5,000 each time with
-
fish and bread. He even showed them
-
where to catch the fish. That's how
-
concerned he is about provision. You
-
know, he washed the disciples feet. He
-
was the greatest servant. He showed us
-
how to live, how to do things. So, what
-
I want to say is this. What you guys do,
-
everything you do in this
-
church is
-
missions. You see, when you're feeding
-
the homeless, that's missions. I know
-
for a
-
fact that number one thing is that's
-
feeding the first. But I know our heart
-
is that one day we'll get a chance to
-
share with them that Jesus hasn't given
-
up on you. Hey, cuz they're drug addicts
-
and stuff. Hey, come on. Come on. But
-
you know, some of us were probably lucky
-
not to be there at one time. But Jesus
-
cares about them. But when you feed them
-
and you show a genuine concern, you're
-
not feeding them to get a notch in the
-
belt. You're feeding them because
-
they're hungry
-
and you show that love of Jesus. Listen,
-
that opens the door a bit for them to
-
maybe asking you, why do you do this?
-
Why do you care? And you can share your
-
story. Wow, I was almost there and I was
-
in the pit, but I called out to God and
-
he helped me. And now God wants me to
-
show his love by helping other people.
-
Guys, that that is life. That is
-
missions. Amen. You know, I remember we
-
started Scotty and Michelle, you were
-
part of this team, but we started like
-
it's great to see street reach and I'll
-
tell you I know for a fact God will give
-
you things and he has given you and ser
-
things add the stuff cuz that's what he
-
does. He adds or he multiplies, right?
-
But we didn't start off with having the
-
flash kitchen where we could serve
-
coffees and make kai. We started off on
-
the
-
streets. There's no strings attached
-
there.
-
There's a little we had a bag with food
-
in it. We went into the what we thought
-
was one of the most needy areas because
-
Pastor Harvey's was already sewing in
-
there through a charity shop and stuff
-
and we went into that area. Yeah. And we
-
put that on a bag. No str we hope this
-
small deed brings light into your day.
-
Simple way of saying God loves you and
-
we put on it. If we can help in any
-
other way, let us know. You know guys,
-
people would phone you in the office.
-
Could you come and pray in my house?
-
What for? Because there was a big fight.
-
There was a big scrap and I just don't
-
feel good. Can you come and pray? I walk
-
in the house, mate. There was blood
-
stains. There was holes in the walls and
-
stuff. But what happened was because you
-
got off your backside and we filled the
-
bag and we went, we knocked the door and
-
we said, "Hey, we Jesus loves you." That
-
opened the way for to show the love of
-
Jesus. Does that make sense? So do not
-
despise the day of small beginnings. But
-
I knew last year when we had handed over
-
to pastor Aaron and Sarah, I knew that
-
what God had done was his stepping stone
-
for what has got to come. It's exciting,
-
guys. It's exciting. But we started
-
small. Look what's happening now. You
-
still with me? The great commission.
-
We're all on some people, oh, I'm on a
-
mission. You hear that saying? Where you
-
going, bro? I'm on a mission. Mean,
-
they've got a task or something to do.
-
Hey, but we're all missionaries. The
-
word missionary comes from the Latin
-
word mito or meto which means send out.
-
The Greek word is
-
aposto which means send out. That's all
-
it means. You see a lot of us Jesus was
-
the greatest mystery right but lot
-
office is only I used to think a mystery
-
was somebody went into the jungle like
-
Dr. Livingstone. Not a few people
-
wouldn't know who that was, but I
-
thought you had to go into a jungle
-
where there was all these big snakes
-
that could kill you and spiders and you
-
had to go somewhere where they had a
-
bone through their nose and they might
-
put you in a pot and eat you. I mean, so
-
so I I would never have been interested
-
in missions. You want to go on a mission
-
trip? No, thank you. Cuz I thought
-
that's what it was. But what I want to
-
say is guys, we're all
-
missionaries. Everyone sitting in this
-
building is a missionary. You know when
-
Jesus himself the greatest missionary
-
left heaven to come to earth, what did
-
he do? Matthew 10, he sent out the 12.
-
And then 6 months later in Luke 10, he
-
sends out 72 also. But this is called
-
the great commission. Why? Because he's
-
sending us all. We're all sent from his
-
death and resurrection. Each and every
-
one of us sitting here today, you are
-
sent. The people you work with, the
-
people you live beside, the people you
-
do sport with, the people whatever,
-
they're the ones. They're in your radar.
-
God wants you to be able to touch your
-
lives with his love and his power in the
-
name of Jesus. Amen.
-
You no water here anymore.
-
We're feeding homeless. We're not pro
-
We're not giving the flicking pastor a
-
drink.
-
I'm going to get that one right
-
away. Boy, I'm melting up here, Ashley.
-
But it's good to be back. It's good to
-
be Thank you for inviting us. Thank you.
-
John
-
17:18, the words of Jesus. You got a
-
Bible, go to it. You got an app, go to
-
it. I know. Yeah. Come on. John
-
17. This is Jesus prayer about unity and
-
stuff, right? But this is the words of
-
Jesus himself. John 17 verse
-
18 as you have sent me into the world so
-
I have sent them into the world talking
-
about the disciples but we're his
-
disciples now my prayer is not for them
-
alone I pray also for those who will
-
believe in me through what talk to me
-
through what whose
-
message their
-
message you guys are shy
-
either that or you can't
-
read. I was but he's saying I have also
-
prayed for those who father I've also
-
prayed for those who will believe
-
through believe in me through their
-
message. You see we've all got a
-
message. Your message is different than
-
mine. It still points to Jesus. Do you
-
with me? But we've all got a message.
-
We've all got a message. And as Jay John
-
said, let's make Jesus Christ known to
-
all people. That's our job. We want to
-
see people know Jesus. Man, when you
-
know Jesus, your life turns around.
-
Yeah. You'll be like a little bit of us
-
when we were on that bicycle ride going
-
up them hills. We were praying in
-
tongues and everything cuz to do the
-
mission was hard at times. And sometimes
-
doing life is hard. But I'm going to
-
tell you something. When you got Jesus
-
with you, he gets you through what needs
-
to get through. He gets you up and over
-
what need to get up and over, etc. Amen.
-
But he had sent
-
you. Another quote is coming on the
-
screen. Jay John, a missionary is not
-
someone who crosses the sea. I love
-
this. But someone who sees the cross.
-
Guys, we've got family. We've get
-
friends who don't know Jesus. We know
-
what the cross represents. And you know
-
what? If we really love people, we'll
-
look at ways and just loving on them.
-
And that's what I'll encourage you. Love
-
on them. love on them. Help them. Look,
-
Alpha Course is coming up. I have heard
-
so many great things about Alpha Course.
-
And I know that Paul and and and Brody
-
will do a great job and leading that.
-
And I know that Stefan's doing a bit of
-
cooking and stuff. I mean, it's going to
-
be awesome. But here's the thing,
-
something so simple. Why don't you pray
-
about who do you
-
invite? And don't get caught in this
-
thing. But but like I've been a
-
Christian for 25 years and I know all
-
this stuff. I tell you, there's a lot of
-
stuff we don't know. a lot of and you
-
know there'll be a lot of stuff you'll
-
come think man I forgot all about that I
-
feel so good but why not pray about who
-
do you invite and then go and pick them
-
up and bring them along to the alpha
-
course seriously that's missions guys
-
something as simple as hey have you ever
-
been interested in know is God
-
real to think is God real did you ever
-
think that I used to think what happens
-
after I die did you ever think that you
-
know we questions like that and smokeo
-
something so oh I've always thought
-
about, but is God real? Hey, come along
-
with us to church. We're running this
-
little program, what do you want to call
-
it? Uh to find these things out where
-
there's questions, they'll be answered.
-
You know, pick them up. Love on them.
-
Hey, you with me. Okay, that's that's
-
cool. That's cool. Let me tell you
-
something. I want I want to say this.
-
Hold on. So J. John says what? He says
-
something about it's not going overseas,
-
but it's seeing the cross.
-
Yeah, doing missions is not going
-
overseas, but it's seeing the cross. So,
-
I'm at a tongue in Gizbborne. I'm at a
-
funeral in Gizzy and I'm stand I'm
-
telling you now, somebody I knew very
-
very well and massive funeral at the
-
grave side. I'm going to be honest with
-
you, I knew the person was in heaven
-
with Jesus. So, celebrating. But I'm
-
thinking at the time about boy, we're
-
going to have some feed after
-
this cuz you know down the east coast
-
they know how to feed you. Tell you
-
about that's why I'm like this. I used
-
to be skinny like iron when I came
-
here. But we did tell you. So I'm
-
standing at the side of the grave. I'm
-
thinking about now we're going to go
-
back to the Marai because that that's a
-
protocol. Go back to the Mariah and the
-
there's crayfish and everything you want
-
there. I'll tell you now, not being
-
super spiritual, the Holy Spirit spoke
-
to me and said, "Drev, I don't want you
-
going for a feed. I want you to go and
-
see this
-
lady." I
-
thinking, "I want you to go and see this
-
lady." So, I went to the husband of the
-
person who passed away and I said, "Bro,
-
I just want to put me apologies in. I
-
might make it, but I might be a bit
-
late, but I might not." He said, "That's
-
okay." So I go, this was 10 10 K outside
-
of Gizbborne. I knew this woman lives
-
somewhere. I go and knock the door. And
-
I'm going to tell you now, I was
-
nervous. I was nervous inside, but I
-
knew all God said me was you go to see
-
this woman and what I want you to tell
-
her. I haven't give up on her and I love
-
her. So I knock the door and she comes
-
the door. And I I knew the
-
person, Pastor Trev, I said, "Sweetie,
-
listen. Can can I come in? Have we
-
chat?" Yes, please. So, I again I sit
-
down with her at the table, takes a cup
-
of tea and I say to her, listen, I just
-
got to be honest with you. The main
-
reason I'm here is I thought I was
-
coming just for a tongue from Taranga to
-
here, but I got it wrong. I said, I'm
-
also here to let you know that God loves
-
you. God has not give up on you and God
-
is hungering for a relationship with you
-
again. And you know what? She sat and
-
she cried. had a tears come down her
-
face. So then I wasn't as anxious, you
-
know, that's a good sign. I think, oh
-
She said, you know, Trev, I'd
-
backsliden so bad. I was back into all
-
the weed and stuff. She said, but let me
-
tell you something. When I used to get
-
in the taxi with the girls after being
-
in the nightclub, stoned and all. I used
-
to say, "God, please don't let me get
-
killed in this car." She was still
-
crying out from my heart some way that
-
God's mercy would be on her. And I said,
-
"You know what? God's mercy is on you,
-
but you can't play with mercy and grace.
-
Here's the time to accept it. And you
-
know what? That day, she invited Jesus
-
back into her life.
-
Amen. But that I'm just trying to get
-
that across, guys. That's missions.
-
That's missions. I thought my mission
-
was just go to the tongue. But the Holy
-
Spirit is something else as well. And he
-
wants to do things with that with you as
-
well with those sort of things. The
-
people you're around, Pastor Aaron and S
-
aren't around. I'm not around. you are.
-
He wants you to be that witness within
-
that. Does that make sense? God has
-
impart us. Acts 18. But you will receive
-
power when the Holy Spirit comes on you
-
and you will be my witnesses telling
-
people about me everywhere. You know
-
when I say that girl, God loves you and
-
he wants you to know he hasn't given up.
-
That's telling her about
-
God. I didn't have to give her three
-
scriptures or anything else. I just told
-
her the truth. heck. Get her.
-
You know, God loves you. Come on. Good.
-
E. But look, be witnesses telling
-
everywhere. Jerusalem, Judea, Samaria,
-
and the ends of the earth. God is
-
wanting to impact lives with his love
-
and power through followers of Jesus
-
Christ. If you're not there, who's going
-
to do it? You know, the word says unless
-
you tell them, they won't know. How they
-
going to know unless somebody goes and
-
shares the good news? As it doesn't
-
mean, it doesn't mean rambling
-
scripture. It's good news off, hey,
-
Jesus loves you. Jesus cares. Can I tell
-
you who Jesus is? Can I tell you who
-
this Messiah is? Woo. You know, 23 years
-
ago, roughly 22, maybe 23, something
-
going to come up here. We were here.
-
We're just about to go on our first we
-
we'd be planned our first mission trip
-
as a church. And what happened was one
-
day I'm in the office and I get a phone
-
call. Uh I'm telling it, it might have
-
been evening. Oh, Pastor Trev, can you
-
come to the hospital? Why? What's wrong?
-
She said, "Little Hope's been hit in the
-
car and uh they think she's not going to
-
make it. He thinks she's going to die."
-
This is local. In fact, um Hope's dad's
-
here this morning. He was here last week
-
and I asked him if I could share this
-
stuff. So, I didn't just show it up
-
randomly. And he said, "Yeah, the family
-
will give the blessing to do that." But
-
this little girl, so I go to, she was
-
nice see you up in the hospital and I
-
walk in and the first thing the doctor
-
said to me was, "She's probably not
-
going to make it." I said, "What do you
-
mean?" He says, "Now, she's probably
-
they've got a helicopter coming, but the
-
chances are that she'll pass away before
-
the helicopter gets here." And I
-
remember looking at after that I walked
-
I was with them and I walked out and
-
Walker and his wife and some of the
-
family were there and I remember you
-
know encouraging them comforting them
-
putting arms around. We were all crying
-
at times and we were all weeping and the
-
young hopes laying on the bed. I said
-
we're going to we're going to pray. So
-
we all gather around the bed and and one
-
of the uncles looked at me and he said
-
Trey, do you really believe God can
-
heal? I said
-
absolutely. He said we're going to pray
-
then. I said yes. So the prayer was
-
simple. Lord we pray in Jesus name that
-
this accident will not lead on to death.
-
We pray that whatever needs done it'll
-
be done for hope to get her healing.
-
That the teleop get here she'll get up
-
whatever it was right and that her
-
family would get there well as well. So
-
we prayed that I went up instead we walk
-
in the family for two or three days
-
before they moved him into um McDonald
-
house whatever it was but she's in
-
starship and she's in a coma every day
-
we would go we pray for her we come away
-
with encourage we'd be thanking God be
-
worshiping God and stuff and then the
-
day came for me to go on the mission
-
trip so I said to walking stuff look we
-
we got to go but you know I'll keep in
-
touch will ring every every other day so
-
it was ringing from Fiji and he said
-
pastor Trevy not said before we went
-
that the chances are now guys if she
-
comes out of a coma she'll be a
-
vegetable that's what he said she'll
-
probably be a vegetable now we never
-
believed that and we weren't fighting
-
the doctor's thing it was hot god you're
-
you're bigger than I said we don't feel
-
that that's what it is so well in Fiji
-
one of the days I phon here's the good
-
news she's out of the coma she's come
-
out of the coma and there's no brain
-
damage none
-
whatsoever and you know yeah and give
-
glory to God. That was that's some of
-
the photos that was with and her school
-
were praying for her and stuff as well.
-
It's pretty awesome. Within about six
-
weeks of all that happen, she come back
-
into church. She was in a wheelchair,
-
you know, and they shared about the the
-
goodness of God. Isn't God good? But see
-
guys, that's on the mission field.
-
That's on the mission field as well. We
-
got to remember one thing. It's not just
-
a matter of giving somebody food and
-
encouragement. God does heal. God does
-
set free. You with me? That was a big
-
part of the missions. So, finishing off,
-
guys. All right. You still
-
there? Okay. Thank you. Jesus is a
-
friend of the sinner. The next one, big
-
mile on holiday. I just I just want to
-
get into you about wherever you are,
-
that's where God is. Cuz do you carry
-
it? Do you carry his presence? Yeah.
-
Yeah. So, I'm on holiday or in Bali,
-
right? We're in Bali on holiday. this
-
big Australian guy, big long blonde
-
hair, lots of I don't know if it was
-
gold, it might have been brass. It
-
looked like gold eye, but like he wasn't
-
a bad guy, but he was loud. I mean, I'm
-
loud, he was loud, right? You'd hear him
-
at the pool and stuff three, four days
-
ago. You know, it said I said hi to him
-
a few times and stuff. And what happened
-
one day, he wasn't there one day and and
-
it was just his girlfriend. I said,
-
"Where's the big fella?" And his
-
nickname was
-
Hollywood. Where's Hollywood? She said,
-
"Oh, Hollywood's very sick." I said,
-
"What do you mean he's sick? He's in
-
holiday. Not allowed to be sick on
-
holiday." She said, "No, he's very, very
-
sick." I said, "Listen, could you go and
-
ask Holiday if I could come and pray for
-
him?" Hollywood. What' I say? Hollywood.
-
Holiday. So, I'm too I need a holiday.
-
Hollywood, if I could come and pray for
-
him. So, she went to Eng Hollywood said,
-
"Yes, you can come and pray." So I went
-
and I said, "Bro, I'm just going to say
-
a simple prayer for you. You know, um I
-
believe, you know, Jesus who set me
-
free, he can heal you." So I prayed for
-
him.
-
Seriously, it seemed that nothing had
-
happened. We we left the room and stuff
-
and then we're in the swimming pool
-
about 2 hours later. Out he comes rip,
-
roar, loud as can be, boy. Seriously,
-
boy. At the side of the pool. Yes. Yes.
-
I'm healed and I'm going to enjoy my
-
holiday. And you know what that
-
photograph is? He took me for a feed
-
that night and Debbie and the
-
girlfriend. I just cut them out for the
-
sake of it. But that was that was crave
-
fish and stuff and he told me, "You can
-
have whatever you want to eat." Guys,
-
that guy was so happy of being healed
-
and set free. I said, "Bro, I I can't do
-
nothing." That's Jesus. Jesus has
-
touched you. So, I was able to share
-
with him about the goodness of God.
-
Amen. It's good to talk to me to God
-
about It's good to talk to men about
-
God, but it's better to talk to God
-
about men. Pray. Pray before you saying,
-
"Lord, give me something to share. Help
-
me to love this person." Does that make
-
sense? And and and finishing off. Share
-
the good news. You know, I'm at the
-
barbers last week getting the getting
-
the
-
haircut. She's getting a bit down her
-
own actually, but who cares? Like when I
-
look at you and how good-look you are, I
-
think I could do that as well.
-
Seriously, I thought if Aaron can look
-
as good as that, I'm sure I've got that
-
anointing as well. But I'm but I'm in
-
the hairdresser or the barbers. The
-
boy's cutting my hair. He's asking me
-
questions. So, I've been there three
-
times. Trev, what's the latest? What are
-
you up to now? I said, bro, I'm getting
-
ready to go to
-
Cambodia. What? What are you going to
-
Cambodia for? I just shared with him. He
-
says, bro, that's awesome.
-
That's awesome. I've never known anybody
-
to do that sort of stuff. I said, "Bro,
-
I might be home sooner than what you
-
think, but I'm going to give it a
-
go." But he but but but he he was
-
wanting no question. Why are you going
-
there? What are you going there for? I
-
said, "Bro, we're going there because
-
there's these girls and they get
-
trafficked. They get pushed into
-
prostitution and stuff and we're just
-
going to go and help some people who
-
help them get set free." And and how do
-
they do that? I said, "Bro, I don't know
-
fully, but I know that they actually get
-
them well, what do you call it? Re
-
rehabilitate it and they get them into
-
jobs and stuff over a couple years
-
because they do." He said to me, "Bro,
-
that's flipping brilliant. That's
-
absolutely brilliant." But see, that's
-
sharing the good news, isn't it? I
-
didn't notice at the time, but my oldest
-
boy the same day goes to another barber
-
and he starts sharing some of his
-
testimony about how he was trapped in
-
drugs and all that sort of stuff. And
-
Jesus turned up and now he's getting his
-
life sorted. That is that is sharing the
-
good news. That's on the That's been
-
missionaries.
-
We're not preaching to people. We don't
-
need to give them 20 scriptures. Hey,
-
God is good. Jesus is good. Here's where
-
we're at. Here's what's happening.
-
Here's what's going on. Is that all
-
right? Okay. Finished. I'm
-
finishing. There's a line in the song we
-
do here. And it talks in the song. A
-
line we sing is about
-
revival. We're moving out beyond these
-
walls to see the people know the
-
Lord. Is it just a
-
song? Are you just singing it as a song
-
or do you want to make it a declaration
-
that we really are moving out beyond
-
these walls? Because guys, here's the
-
bottom line. Once you go through those
-
doors at the front, you're on the
-
mission field.
-
That's said majority of us will never
-
get a chance to go overseas. And let me
-
tell you, I've been overseas like
-
probably 25 times, maybe more, right?
-
But I'm not any better than the person
-
who's never been over. That is a mission
-
field.
-
But can we finish with this song like
-
declare making it a declaration in our
-
hearts and then guys praying each day
-
for an opportunity to reach out and
-
impact somebody with the love and the
-
power of Jesus Christ. Can we do that?
-
Hey, so we're going to finish with that.
-
And just before we do, is there anyone
-
here
-
today? You've never gave your heart to
-
Jesus and you're maybe wondering why am
-
I there today? What am I doing with this
-
building? You're here because God cares
-
about you. You're here because he
-
probably he has drawn you here by a
-
spirit because you can't get saved
-
unless he draws you. You're thinking,
-
why? Maybe that's you today and you want
-
to give your heart to Jesus. If that's
-
you, can everybody bow their head a
-
minute first? If that's you, can you
-
just put your hand up? Anyone here? God
-
bless you. God bless you. Anyone else?
-
Do I see them three hands? Yep. I see
-
it. Say it anymore. Come on, guys. This
-
is great. This is what it's all about.
-
Know Jesus. To know Jesus, man. Wow. 1 2
-
3 4 5. Thank you, Jesus. Five. Six.
-
Guys, after the service, there'll be
-
people up the front who will pray for
-
you. Is that right? Okay. Here's the
-
second altar call. And I want you to
-
come up the front too after this. Right
-
now, these people are just going to pray
-
for you to ask Jesus into your life.
-
It's safe. It's good. There's some
-
people here today and you've been
-
backsliding. I love what Pastor Aaron
-
said last week. No, things haven't just
-
went wrong for the week. Things have
-
been going wrong for a very long time
-
and you've been far away from God. But
-
God wants you to know he hasn't give up
-
on you. God wants you to know he's not
-
condemning you. He's not judging you,
-
but he wants you to recommmit your life
-
back to him. He loves you. He cares. And
-
it's the same as it was with that woman
-
in Gizzy. He wants that type
-
relationship again. He misses fellowship
-
with you. If that's you today and you're
-
going to be honest about it and you want
-
to get your life right with God, can you
-
stick your hand up? I see one, two,
-
three, wow, four, five,
-
wow, six. I'm not even going to talk
-
about the counting. Sometimes that's a
-
pride thing while there's more than one
-
person. Hey Lord, thank you for these
-
people today. You see their hearts,
-
Lord, as they come up the front today.
-
They either connect with you for the
-
first time or reconnect. I pray you
-
touch them by your Holy Spirit. Lord,
-
turn their lives upside down. I pray in
-
Jesus mighty name. And Lord, as a
-
church, this song that we're going to
-
sing that it's not just words. It's a
-
declaration that we would be a people
-
who would move beyond these walls to our
-
family, our friends, our neighbors, our
-
work colleagues, whatever it might be in
-
Jesus name. And everybody who loved the
-
Lord said, "Amen." And let's give the
-
Lord a clap.
