  1. a while and I feel it stirring,

  2. stirring, stirring, stirring, stirring.

  3. The world doesn't actually need an

  4. encounter with another Christian.

  5. The world needs an encounter

  6. with someone who's actually following

  7. Christ.

  8. And there can be a vast difference, a

  9. huge difference. And uh

  10. I just want to call us the body of

  11. Christ

  12. to a higher realm of

  13. not settling for less than what God

  14. wants to do and who God wants to be in

  15. and through the body of Christ.

  16. Praise the Lord.

  17. Praise God.

  18. It's such a joy and privilege to be with

  19. you. Take that as my greeting.

  20. Let's keep on walking with God. How's

  21. that sound?

  22. Pastor Aaron, Pastor Sarah,

  23. I want to release this over you and then

  24. we're going to get into the word. If

  25. you're waiting for prophecy, it's

  26. started.

  27. Prophecy is making known the mind, the

  28. will, the intention of God. And again,

  29. we have reduced it down to what does God

  30. want me to do

  31. rather than what does God want to say to

  32. the church

  33. as he calls us to become who he's called

  34. us to be.

  35. And so, Pastor Aaron, Pastor Sarah, Lord

  36. spoke to me and I want to say this

  37. publicly because it's going to lean into

  38. what God wants to say in the message

  39. today.

  40. And I felt the Lord say very, very

  41. clearly, it's time to move forward with

  42. what's in your heart.

  43. Don't go slow.

  44. And then he said this statement to me.

  45. He he spoke about making disciples and

  46. we're going to lean into some of this

  47. today. He says it's more about people

  48. being crucified with Christ than people

  49. being comfortable with Christ.

  50. It's more about people being crucified

  51. with Christ.

  52. I no longer live. I have been crucified

  53. with Christ. I no longer live. I have

  54. been crucified with Christ.

  55. And many times

  56. we can overthink as leaders. I'm

  57. speaking this to you.

  58. Where are the people at? And uh I I

  59. don't want to rush too fast. And it's

  60. it's it's about how the people feel and

  61. where the people are at. And I just feel

  62. I need to release you from that.

  63. I want to release you from that. If it's

  64. in your heart from God, don't go slow

  65. thinking we've only been here this

  66. amount of time. Let's take it slow,

  67. church. You might like this, you might

  68. not like it. Frankly, don't care. I I I

  69. just want to release that from them

  70. because they're not here to make us feel

  71. comfortable.

  72. There's nothing comfortable about going

  73. to the cross for Jesus Christ.

  74. And we're brought into even language in

  75. the body of Christ. If you feel

  76. comfortable, if you feel comfortable and

  77. I love your hearts and even with the

  78. prayer and all that, we don't overly ask

  79. for much or prescribe much. Can I just

  80. say this not as a rebuke, this is as a

  81. setting us up. I think we need to ask

  82. for a bit more.

  83. I think our problem is we've lowered the

  84. bar so much in the body of Christ cuz

  85. it's about, you know, everyone's got a

  86. life and everyone's got so much going on

  87. and we don't want to sort of overstep

  88. and we don't want people to feel

  89. uncomfortable and we don't want people

  90. to feel bad and we that's not Bible.

  91. It's not Bible. We need a we need a

  92. revelation of what Jesus has actually

  93. called us to. And I just want to release

  94. you guys to run to go with what's in

  95. your heart.

  96. Some may stay, some may go,

  97. but you keep on going with what God has

  98. called us to be.

  99. Us to be.

  100. Us to be. And so, Father, I pray in the

  101. name of Jesus Christ for a fresh release

  102. to Aaron and Sarah right now in the name

  103. of Jesus.

  104. A fresh release. Just brother and

  105. sister, quickly come and stand here.

  106. Father, I pray for fresh release in the

  107. name of the Lord Jesus Christ. I just

  108. feel any anything that is a burden,

  109. anything that is a weight, anything that

  110. is a human consideration, I lift it off

  111. you right now. Right now. Right now.

  112. Those questions at times, is it time? Is

  113. it time? The Lord says, "It is time. It

  114. is time. It is time. It is time." Sarah,

  115. open your mouth. Open your mouth, says

  116. the Lord. There is wisdom to flow. There

  117. is discernment to flow in the name of

  118. the Lord Jesus Christ. I I just release

  119. you. Release you. Release you. Set you

  120. free in the name of Jesus. To run, to

  121. run, to run, to run, to run, to run.

  122. There's more. There's more. There's

  123. more. There's more. There's more.

  124. There's more. There's more. Lord, fill.

  125. Fill, fill a ar

  126. breath of God. Breath of God,

  127. Holy Spirit of God, just do them good

  128. today.

  129. Thank you, Father. Amen.

  130. Amen.

  131. Good morning, church.

  132. Are you ready to receive the word of the

  133. Lord? I want to talk about being a

  134. disciple of Jesus. And

  135. you might go, "Okay, that's not very

  136. prophetic." I I want to tell you, it is

  137. God is restoring some things to the

  138. church, not because he moved on, but

  139. because we moved on.

  140. God is bringing some things back front

  141. and center. Not because it's the time

  142. for it or a season for it. It's because

  143. we were never meant to move on from it,

  144. but we did.

  145. And I believe in the body of Christ. And

  146. for us today here, the word of the Lord

  147. is all about being a disciple of Jesus.

  148. You might say, "Yeah, well, I'm a

  149. disciple of Jesus." Well, see if you

  150. answer the same question at the end of

  151. the sermon because God is calling us to

  152. that.

  153. The Lord is speaking to me this morning.

  154. I I I just sense there's going to be a

  155. shift in many of our lives, if not all

  156. of our lives. I can tell you right now,

  157. I'm going to preach to myself today. If

  158. you don't get done any good, if if you

  159. if you think whatsoever, I'm going to

  160. speak to myself and edify myself in the

  161. Lord. Is that cool? So, I I encourage

  162. you to come. Uh I I think God wants to

  163. lift up the importance of what's on his

  164. heart

  165. and I I I think about the words of uh

  166. Jesus in the gospels

  167. where he talked about the church twice

  168. and he talked about the kingdom of God

  169. about 130 times.

  170. We've made it all about the church being

  171. part of church coming to a church and

  172. the Bible is clear. Don't forsake the

  173. gathering as some are in the habit of

  174. doing. You're part of the body. You

  175. can't be healthy unless you are. But he

  176. mentioned it twice. He mentioned the

  177. kingdom of God. So maybe God wants to

  178. bring front and center to our lives.

  179. Okay. The importance of the kingdom. He

  180. talked about praying it and seeking it

  181. first. And go he talked about those

  182. parables. It's like it's like that's the

  183. authority, the rule of God on earth as

  184. it is in heaven. It's not just I come to

  185. church. That's great. But are you are

  186. you part of the kingdom? the rule and

  187. the reign of God on earth as it is in

  188. heaven. We need to reclaim God's

  189. priorities. It's not church, it's

  190. kingdom. But we also equally need to

  191. understand in the Bible, depending on

  192. the translation, the Bible mentions

  193. Christians three times, believers four

  194. times, and disciples about 260 times.

  195. I'm a believer, great. I'm a Christian.

  196. Great. But are you a disciple?

  197. because there's a vast vast difference.

  198. Jesus never called people to come and be

  199. believers and Christians alone. He

  200. called them to come and be disciples 260

  201. times as opposed to three or four.

  202. So let's talk about the call.

  203. Lord Jesus, help me.

  204. I I I have this thing in me that what's

  205. in me finds it hard to get out. So, can

  206. you um can you just a draw it out and

  207. bear with me as I try to birth

  208. something? Is that cool?

  209. Birthing is not always pleasant.

  210. Sometimes it's messy. Can we receive

  211. spirit to spirit? Yeah, we receive it.

  212. So, let's talk about the call. Matthew 4

    Matthew 4:18–22

  213. verse 18- 22.

  214. I'm going to just speak prophetically as

  215. I go. the whole thing is but Aaron Sarah

  216. elders leaders

  217. uh youth leaders young adults everyone

  218. church to elim and the body of Christ

  219. right now

  220. I believe with all my heart being a

  221. disciple needs to come back to a top

  222. priority you might say prayer is a top

  223. priority yeah prayer is something that

  224. disciples do

  225. no it's about evangelism evangelism is

  226. something disciples do

  227. it. It flows from it. There's there's

  228. fruit that comes from it. Can I just say

  229. in a church this size, can we can can we

  230. feel that one hour of prayer? Could you

  231. not watch and pray with me for one hour,

  232. says the Lord? That's not really my

  233. thing. If you're born again, if you're a

  234. disciple, it's your thing. It's your

  235. thing. Let's raise the bark. Let's raise

  236. my house shall be called a house of

  237. prayer. Well, I just like

  238. fellowshipping. Well, that's great, but

  239. it's not what the Bible says. It says

  240. called a house from prayer. Could you

  241. not watch and pray with me for one hour?

  242. The world will be changed not when we

  243. fellowship but when we pray. Come on.

  244. The world will be um saved not when we

  245. worship but when we pray. The world will

  246. be saved not when we preach but when we

  247. pray. Come on. Something happens when we

  248. pray. Saul on the road to Damascus got

  249. saved because Stephen who has been

  250. stoned to death prayed for him rather

  251. than just say God rescue me.

  252. the core. Matthew 4:18-22. As Jesus was

    Matthew 4:18–22

  253. walking beside the Sea of Galilee, he

  254. saw two brothers. I like the fact that

  255. God sees us before we see him. Eh H

  256. Simon called Peter and his brother

  257. Andrew and they were cast in a net into

  258. the lake for they were fishermen. Verse

  259. 19.

  260. Come follow me, Jesus said. And everyone

  261. say and

  262. we got to get back familiar with the

  263. ends of God.

  264. It's all it's all about grace. It's all

  265. about grace. No. Jesus came full of

  266. grace and truth.

  267. Come on. Everywhere in the Bible there's

  268. an end. Everything I'm going to bring

  269. you today there's an and. There's like

  270. two parts and we take one part without

  271. the other part. It doesn't work. I'm

  272. following Jesus. That's great. Come

  273. follow me. Jesus said, "And

  274. I will send you out to fish for people.

  275. Come follow me and I will send you out

  276. so that through your life other people

  277. can start to follow me." That's what I'm

  278. calling you to.

  279. At once, everyone say, "At once." At

  280. once they left their nets and they

  281. followed him.

  282. Going on from there, he saw two other

  283. brothers, James, son of Zebedee, and his

  284. brother John. And they were in a boat

  285. with their father Zebedee preparing

  286. their nets. And Jesus called them the

  287. same way. Come follow me and I will send

  288. you out to fish for people. And

  289. immediately, everyone say immediately.

  290. >> They left the boat and they and their

  291. father and they followed him. Can I just

  292. make it clear from the start? A disciple

  293. literally means a student, a pupil, a

  294. learner. one who takes a posture of a

  295. pupil of a learner. I'm not just

  296. believing in God. I'm not just saying

  297. I'm a Christian. I'm actually learning.

  298. I'm following him. I I It's like the

  299. with the rabbi. He was a rabbi and those

  300. that were the rabbi's disciples walked

  301. with him everywhere. They they they were

  302. in their life continually. And it wasn't

  303. to learn information. It was to follow

  304. that person and actually to become like

  305. that person. And as Paul said, follow me

  306. as I follow Christ. It's about becoming

  307. like the one that you are following. And

  308. you learn their teachings, you learn

  309. their ways, but you also emanate their

  310. lives.

  311. A couple things I see in the call is two

  312. parts. What is a disciple? It's one who

  313. follows Jesus and it's one who fishes

  314. for people.

  315. is one who follows Jesus and is one who

  316. is sent out to help other people follow

  317. Jesus.

  318. Can I say long term if you've been saved

  319. for a long time and you're following

  320. Jesus but you're not living sent out to

  321. actually fish for people to share the

  322. faith and to actually help other people

  323. follow Jesus. Can I love you enough to

  324. be honest and say you're not a disciple?

  325. You may be saved. You might be a

  326. believer. You might be a Christian, but

  327. you're not a disciple

  328. because it's actually becoming like

  329. Christ.

  330. Do you know that Jesus didn't do

  331. anything but what he saw the father

  332. doing?

  333. In our language, it's like he was a

  334. disciple of the father. He he he only

  335. did his life was the exact

  336. representation of the father. That's the

  337. following what he wanted him to do on

  338. earth. But the Bible says that the son

  339. of man came to seek and to save the

  340. lives. That's why he came. And when he

  341. went back to heaven, he said, "The glory

  342. God that you gave me, I'm giving them.

  343. The reason you sent me, I'm sending

  344. them. I I'm not only praying for them,

  345. but I'm praying for everyone who will

  346. encounter you through their lives. The

  347. plan hasn't changed. A disciple follows

  348. and a disciple helps others follow.

  349. It's got to be both. It's got to be the

  350. end. And here's a couple things I see

  351. about the call to be a disciple.

  352. The first thing I see is that disciples

  353. walk with other people

  354. towards God.

  355. It wasn't just Jesus called Peter and

  356. just Jesus and Peter walk by themselves.

  357. We're not here today because Peter and

  358. Jesus. Peter just said, "Me and Jesus,

  359. that's enough. It's just no." He called

  360. Peter and he called his brother Andrew

  361. and he called James and he called John

  362. and said, "I want you to all come follow

  363. me." And as he was walking, they

  364. followed him. And then other people

  365. joined and other men joined and other

  366. ladies joined. Can I just say in the

  367. body of Christ, you can't be a disciple

  368. if you're following Jesus by yourself

  369. with nobody else. And I'm not talking

  370. about attending church. I'm talking

  371. about walking with people. There is no

  372. competition. There is encouragement that

  373. we are following Jesus. I'm following

  374. him. You're following him. If you

  375. stumble, I'm going to help you so that

  376. you can keep on following. If I stumble,

  377. will you help me up so we can continue

  378. following God together. There's got to

  379. be a greater awareness

  380. and understanding and acceptance that we

  381. can't follow Jesus by ourselves.

  382. That's like taking your finger, removing

  383. it from the It's just my finger. That's

  384. all I need. God and my finger. It's

  385. going to die. The body's going to

  386. suffer. The body is one body with many

  387. members fitly joined together supplying

  388. everything that the body needs. This me

  389. and God and that's enough is alive from

  390. the pit of hell that brings isolation.

  391. And isolation always breeds error.

  392. disciples walk with other people towards

  393. God. But the other thing I want to just

  394. say from this passage, I'm just

  395. preaching the word. When God called

  396. Peter, uh, sorry, yeah, Simon Peter and

  397. his brother Andrew, it says at once they

  398. left. When he called James and John, it

  399. says, "And immediately they left."

  400. Here's one of the marks that you said,

  401. "Yes,

  402. God, I want to start this journey. I

  403. want to be a disciple." I'm not talking

  404. about a Christian. I'm not talking about

  405. a believer. I'm talking about

  406. disciplehip this morning. Being a

  407. disciple which is the heart of God. Can

  408. I just say believing is essential and

  409. being a Christian is essential. But it's

  410. the doorway. It's not the destination.

  411. You enter the doorway and start walking.

  412. What's the walking? It's disciple. Being

  413. a disciple. The moment they turned and

  414. followed Jesus, they were in. They were

  415. with him. They were committed. But now

  416. they had to walk it out. And along the

  417. way, how many people know that they had

  418. times where they mucked it up bad?

  419. Brothers were arguing who's the best and

  420. who can sit on your right and left.

  421. Peter's putting his foot in every second

  422. moment. And Jesus walking together.

  423. There's correction. There was there was

  424. there was rebuke. There was instruction.

  425. There was him sending out before they

  426. were ready. But God knows what he's

  427. doing.

  428. But it's with other people. But the

  429. other thing I see in here about the call

  430. to be a disciple is it was at once and

  431. it was immediately. Disciples obey

  432. quickly and fully.

  433. If we're not obeying God,

  434. you might say not on the just the call

  435. to follow him.

  436. If he says forgive, otherwise I can't

  437. forgive you. I can't forgive. Can I just

  438. say we're not a disciple?

  439. Well, I need to go on a journey. We know

  440. you don't. You need to make a choice to

  441. forgive. Like God made a choice to

  442. forgive you while you were a wretched

  443. sinner and while I was a wretched

  444. sinner. Christ died for us while we're

  445. sinners. I want to receive that from

  446. God. I don't want to pass it on. Then

  447. we're not a disciple. This is not

  448. preaching that always gets you welcome

  449. back. But this is what we need back in

  450. the body of Christ. It's not about your

  451. comfort. It's about us being crucified

  452. with Christ. And at once, at once, at

  453. once, immediately if God whispers, I'm

  454. following.

  455. This is the call to be a disciple. Come

  456. follow me and I will send you out to

  457. fish for people.

  458. How many people are glad you came to

  459. church?

  460. Good.

  461. How many people know that in your life

  462. on the giving end or the receiving end,

  463. you can give an instruction maybe to

  464. your kids, maybe to someone at work,

  465. maybe you're on the receiving end, and

  466. you are given an instruction, you go,

  467. "Got it." And then over time, it needs

  468. to be clarified because you go, "I'm not

  469. sure they actually quite got it." Are

  470. you with me? Have you ever had that? You

  471. know what I'm talking about, right? It's

  472. not it's not that I heard it once, I'm

  473. all good. Come on. We need to have

  474. clarification of No, no, no. I I said

  475. this. Let me make clear what I mean.

  476. Jesus had to do this with his disciples

  477. and he wants to do it with you and me

  478. today. Is that cool? Because the call of

  479. a disciple is come follow me and I'll

  480. send you out so other people can follow

  481. me. Have you got that clear? That is the

  482. call. We do it together and we obey

  483. quickly. We we let's not complicate

  484. this, but God needs to clarify this

  485. because there's a time in uh don't put

  486. it up yet. There's a time in Matthew 16

  487. when Jesus started to talk in verse 21,

  488. you can read this about needing to

  489. suffer many things and go to the cross.

  490. And Peter

  491. Peter got up in Jesus' face and says,

  492. "No, no, no. Wrong. That will not

  493. happen. You will not need to go." And

  494. then we read in verse 23 of Matthew 16

  495. the famous words. Anyone know the words

  496. when Jesus said to Peter, "Get behind

  497. me, Satan." You talk about a rebuke. You

  498. talk about a rebuke. Get behind me,

  499. Satan. and you are a stumbling block to

  500. me because you do not have in mind the

  501. things of God merely human concern.

  502. Peter was trying to be helpful. Peter

  503. was trying to protect him. But there was

  504. a problem and and I honor my wife for

  505. bringing this um revelation. She shared

  506. it with me. Why did Jesus respond so so

  507. it sounds harshly to us? Because what

  508. was his original call? Come follow me.

  509. In other words, he's the one that sets

  510. the agenda. He's the one that says right

  511. is right and wrong. He's the one who

  512. declares what will happen. Right? Is

  513. that right? Are you with me? And we're

  514. following. And now you got Peter

  515. standing in front of Jesus. No, no, no.

  516. He's trying to lead Jesus and trying to

  517. say, "Hey, that won't happen." And Jesus

  518. says, "Hang on, get behind me. You're

  519. meant to be following me, not trying to

  520. lead me. Not trying to tell me how it

  521. should be and how it should be about my

  522. comfort and how it should be my about my

  523. ease." And in the body of Christ, too

  524. many times we're telling God, "Hang on.

  525. No, it shouldn't be that way. It

  526. shouldn't be so hard. It shouldn't be

  527. like that." And I believe the call of

  528. God to us today is, "Come, get behind me

  529. and follow me. Stop trying to tell me

  530. how it's meant to be."

  531. And so to that context

  532. he brings the clarification in Matthew

    Matthew 16:4

  533. 16:4

  534. when he then Jesus said to his disciples

  535. then when when he had just said get

  536. behind me you're meant to be following

  537. not leading. Are you with me church?

  538. Then he said to his disciples

  539. whoever wants to be my disciple remember

  540. he didn't talk about Christians or

  541. believers much. It was disciple,

  542. disciple, disciple, disciple, disciple,

  543. disciple, disciple, disciple. The call

  544. of God in your life is not just to be a

  545. Christian or a believer, but a disciple.

  546. Everyone say disciple. Everyone say, I

  547. am called to be a disciple. If you're a

  548. believer, you're called to be a No, no,

  549. that's not my That's not my call. Yes,

  550. it is. The Bible says in 2 Corinthians

  551. 5, therefore, uh we're being crucified

  552. with Christ. Um and we are born again.

  553. when we've been reconciled to God the

  554. Father and he's given to us the ministry

  555. of reconciling other people as if though

  556. God was making his appeal through us.

  557. That's how powerful it is. But here

  558. comes the clarification. They knew the

  559. call.

  560. Follow me and I'll send you out so other

  561. people can follow me. But he comes and

  562. he goes, "Okay." He said to his

  563. disciple, "Okay, boys, listen.

  564. Clarification time. Cuz you're not

  565. getting it. You're trying to tell me how

  566. it's going to be. Whoever wants to be my

  567. disciple,

  568. look at me and listen in the spirit.

  569. Whoever wants to be my disciple, and can

  570. I just say really boldly to the body of

  571. Christ, if you're a Christian and

  572. believer, you can't. Disciplehip is not

  573. a choice.

  574. That's what you're called to. If we

  575. don't embrace being a disciple, people

  576. will continue going to hell on our

  577. watch.

  578. Come on. God, Steve, this is a bit high.

  579. Jesus didn't lower the bar. He raised

  580. the bar. You've heard it said don't

  581. commit adultery. I'm saying don't lust.

  582. You've heard it said don't murder. I'm

  583. saying don't hate. Come on. If you want

  584. to, we heard it this morning. You want

  585. to keep your life, you're going to lose

  586. your life.

  587. And he comes and he goes, I've got to

  588. clarify. Whoever wants to be my disciple

  589. must deny themselves. How many say

  590. praise God for that and here's our and

  591. again and take up their cross and follow

  592. me. Look at the order. Remember the

  593. starting point is follow me and I will

  594. send you out so other people can follow

  595. me. Now he's coming back. Let's let's

  596. address the first one. The clarification

  597. is about follow me. You're not getting

  598. it. Let me tell you what it looks like.

  599. It starts with deny yourself. They were

  600. on their fishing boat. They had their

  601. livelihood. They had done their

  602. training. They had things coming in.

  603. They were comfortable in that place. And

  604. he says the starting point is deny

  605. yourself. Now you're going to have to

  606. take up your cross because it's going to

  607. cost you everything. And then you are

  608. following me. Can I say if we are not

  609. denying ourselves and if we're not

  610. taking up our cross, then we're not

  611. following Jesus.

  612. They come before the follow.

  613. Are you with me?

  614. Sakan, Jesus, help me.

  615. I felt the Lord say, look at the word

  616. deny in the Greek and it means to deny

  617. utterly. It's completely deny. And

  618. there's three things that he draw my

  619. attention to. First of all, it's disown.

  620. It's disown yourselves. How many people

  621. know that this doesn't preach in the

  622. world today?

  623. Because it's all about you. And you can

  624. be whatever you want. You can do

  625. whatever you want, whatever you put your

  626. mind to. It's about you. It's about you.

  627. Don't let anyone tell you what to do.

  628. And when it comes into the church,

  629. that's why we can't boldly say, "Hey

  630. guys, we all need to be in the prayer

  631. meeting because we can't tell people

  632. what to do." Rubbish.

  633. Rubbish. We should be praying. We should

  634. be praying. And the starting point of

  635. tonight is disown.

  636. Disown. I no longer own. What does 1

    1 Corinthians 6:19

  637. Corinthians 6:19 says? Do you not know

  638. that you're the dwelling place of the

  639. Holy Spirit who lives in you, who you

  640. receive from God? You are not your own.

  641. Oh,

  642. I've been crucified with Christ. I no

  643. longer live. Christ lives in me. The

  644. Bible makes it clear. Once you are born

  645. again, you no longer own yourselves. But

  646. the problem is many of us still live

  647. like we own ourselves.

  648. Cuz someone upsets us and we can't

  649. forgive them because we own ourselves.

  650. No. Deny yourself. The first thing is

  651. disown. And the second thing is abstain.

  652. When you abstain from alcohol, you say

  653. no to alcohol. When you say when you

  654. abstain from food on the fast, you say

  655. no to food. When you abstain from

  656. yourself, you say no to yourself.

  657. We need this reclaimed in the body of

  658. Christ. We are called to be disciples.

  659. Deny yourself. You don't own yourself.

  660. You need to learn to say no to yourself.

  661. Saying no to yourself is not losing

  662. power. It's plugging into the power. It

  663. is actually it's actually about.

  664. If you never say no to yourself, it's a

  665. sign you're not a disciple of Jesus

  666. Christ. I say no to myself countless

  667. times every day. Not because I'm bad,

  668. but because I'm a disciple of Jesus

  669. Christ. I live in this world and there's

  670. there's the lust of the flesh, the lust

  671. of the eyes, the pride of life. There's

  672. there's temptation, there's pollution,

  673. there there's even desires for good

  674. things that will draw me away from the

  675. commitment of spending time with my God.

  676. I'd rather spend time watching Netflix,

  677. but I sometimes I need to say no to

  678. myself so I can actually follow Jesus so

  679. I can be filled by him. But many of us

  680. aren't saying no to ourselves because

  681. it's become about me. Disciple

  682. starts with deny.

  683. It is actually disown and esteem. Some

  684. of us in this room are really not liking

  685. my sermon.

  686. No, it's true. But you need to hear it

  687. because this is the call. You That's not

  688. really me. I'm I come to church and I'm

  689. saved, but that's a bit too radical for

  690. me. Jesus died on a cross naked for you.

  691. It's not too radical.

  692. And he says, "I no longer live." Dead

  693. people don't think it's too radical.

  694. They don't think

  695. they're not fighting for your rights.

  696. They did this. They just No.

  697. The third thing about deny is this. Lose

  698. sight of yourself. Lose sight of

  699. oneself. That's what it means. Deny

  700. yourself. Please lean in. Lose sight of

  701. oneself. How many people know if I could

  702. do that in my life, things would be a

  703. whole lot better?

  704. I tell you right now, my greatest

  705. battle.

  706. Me

  707. self-focused,

  708. trying to be self-righteous, trying to

  709. be self-justified, trying to be good

  710. enough so I can honor God. All the

  711. while, sometimes I'm trying so hard to

  712. be what God needs me to be. My problem

  713. is I'm still focusing on me. No, when

  714. you behold him as in a mirror, you'll be

  715. changed into that image.

  716. Fix your eyes on Jesus,

  717. not on yourself.

  718. Praise the Lord. Deny yourself.

  719. Huh?

  720. To those who are

  721. battling in the spirit realm and there

  722. is a battle. I know there is. And you're

  723. going, "Yeah, but yeah, but

  724. outside of an embracing of this

  725. today, there's not manipulation. This is

  726. I'm speaking the truth. Outside of an

  727. embracing of yes, Lord, to this today,

  728. but but I but I I'm not sure about this

  729. and I I don't

  730. How many people know what the problem

  731. is?

  732. I

  733. deny yourself

  734. and then take up your cross. Why does he

  735. put that in there? Why didn't he just

  736. say deny yourself, follow me? Why did he

  737. specifically say deny yourself, take up

  738. your cross and then follow me? Because

  739. we need to understand this following

  740. Christ, this disciplehip is not just one

  741. time I deny myself. Man, I'm going to

  742. take up my cross. This is going to cost

  743. me everything.

  744. How many people know cost Jesus

  745. everything?

  746. It's okay to wrestle with God and in

  747. conversation say, "God, this is so hard.

  748. Can you do it another way?" Luke 22:42,

    Luke 22:42

  749. Jesus, the son of God, the perfect sin,

  750. the son of God who knew the father's

  751. will and why he was sent to earth said

  752. in Luke 22:42, "Father, if it's

    Luke 22:42

  753. possible, can you remove this cup from

  754. me? Father, if it's possible, can I not

  755. go to the cross? I know it's your will,

  756. but I'm wrestling because it's going to

  757. cost me everything. Yet, not what I

  758. want, but what you want because I'm

  759. going to deny myself and I'm literally

  760. going to take up my cross and I'm going

  761. to follow you, God. And that is the call

  762. of God on your life. And that is the

  763. call of God on your life. And that is

  764. the call of God on your life. And it's

  765. the call of God on my life. And it's the

  766. call of God on the body of Christ.

  767. Because people don't need an encounter

  768. with another Christian and another

  769. believer that is still living for self.

  770. And their lives are no different from

  771. the people they walk around. They talk

  772. the same. They walk the same. They do

  773. business the same. They need an

  774. encounter with believers who have

  775. learned to say, "No, Steve. No, Steve.

  776. No, Steve. No, Steve." And it's going to

  777. cost me. It's going to cost me

  778. popularity. It's going to cost me

  779. friends. There will be persecution.

  780. There will be opposition.

  781. There's going to come a time very soon

  782. if you're not being persecuted or

  783. opposed in some way, it's probably just

  784. a revelation that we're not really

  785. following Jesus.

  786. There's no such thing as undercover

  787. Christian or secret agent Christian.

  788. Jesus didn't die undercover. He died

  789. publicly for all. And he's calling you

  790. and I to live for all. But it can't

  791. happen outside of deny yourself, take up

  792. your cross and follow him.

  793. I follow Jesus. Great. Deny yourself,

  794. take up your cross, follow him. That's

  795. the proof.

  796. And I will send you out to fish with

  797. people. I will send you out

  798. to make disciples. This is the

  799. commission.

  800. Hallelujah.

  801. Hallelujah. If the

  802. keys can just maybe come back up. Praise

  803. the Lord. The commission.

  804. The commission.

  805. Today we're not going to pray for a lot

  806. of people afters or things like that.

  807. This is you and God because sometimes we

  808. just want someone else to pray for us

  809. and give us another thing. No, sometimes

  810. we need to just deal with God. That can

  811. be a distraction. Me praying for you

  812. right now is a distraction from you and

  813. God saying, "God, what are you saying to

  814. me right now?" So, we had the call. We

  815. had the clarification. Here's the

  816. commission. Matthew 28:18 to20. Then

    Matthew 28:18–20

  817. Jesus came to them and said, "All

  818. authority in heaven and on earth has

  819. been given to me." We sang about the

  820. authority, right? It's been given to me.

  821. In Luke 10:19, Jesus said, "I've given

    Luke 10:19

  822. you authority over all the enemy's

  823. powers."

  824. Therefore, in light of the fact that

  825. I've got authority, I've given you

  826. authority. Come on, people. Come on,

  827. church. Lean in. Lean in. Lean in. God

  828. says, "I've got authority. I'm giving it

  829. to you. I'm giving it to you." It's

  830. called delegated authority. It's not

  831. called earned authority. It's delegated

  832. authority. Come on. You submit to God.

  833. You resist the devil and he must flee.

  834. But we starts with the submitting, not

  835. the resisting. Some of us are trying to

  836. resist, but we're not submitting. We got

  837. to do the submitting to God first and

  838. then the resisting and the enemy's got

  839. to flee. But therefore, in light of all

  840. authority, go and make disciples of all

  841. nations. Oh, that's for them. No, that's

  842. for you.

  843. Jesus says, come follow me and I'll send

  844. you out. Once again, Corinthians, if

  845. you've been reconciled to God, God says,

  846. "I give you now the ministry of

  847. reconciliation. Back row, front row,

  848. left side, right side, youngest, oldest.

  849. God says, if you've been reconciled, I'm

  850. going to give you I give you the

  851. ministry of reconciliation. That's not

  852. really my thing. Well, I'm just going to

  853. be blunt. It's a Bible thing. So, are

  854. you going to do your thing or you going

  855. to deny yourself and we're going to take

  856. up our cross and we're going to follow

  857. Jesus?

  858. Go and make disciples of all nations.

  859. Well, what does that mean? What does it

  860. mean to make a disciple? Listen

  861. really clearly in this last few moments.

  862. Baptizing them in the name of the Father

  863. and the Son and the Holy Spirit. Here's

  864. our word.

  865. And

  866. you got it so simple. and teaching them

  867. to obey everything I've commanded you

  868. and surely I am with you always to the

  869. end of the age. Listen up please. Listen

  870. up please. We have reduced baptizing

  871. them. So the two what are the two

  872. aspects of making disciples, youth

  873. leaders, uh elders, every person in this

  874. room, you in your family in your work.

  875. What does it mean to make disciples?

  876. It's not a program. It's not a course.

  877. Right? It's two things. baptizing them

  878. in the name of the father, the son, and

  879. the holy spirit. Please do not reduce it

  880. down to the obvious. That is a part of

  881. it, but is by far not the main part. It

  882. doesn't mean just baptize people in

  883. water in the name of the father, the

  884. son, and the holy spirit. The word

  885. baptize mean fully immerse. The word

  886. name literally means the authority and

  887. the character. fully immerse people into

  888. the uh nature and the authority and the

  889. character of who the father is. Come on,

  890. keep on talking about the father.

  891. Immerse them in the father. They already

  892. know about themselves. They already know

  893. about their problems. Talk about the

  894. father more and do it into Jesus. Tell

  895. them everything you can about Jesus and

  896. fully immerse them into the name, the

  897. nature, the character of the Holy Ghost.

  898. just lift him up and he will start to

  899. draw people to himself.

  900. You're leading anything and that's all

  901. of you. By the way,

  902. your greatest

  903. first part of the two parts of making

  904. disciples is talk about God more than

  905. you talk about anything else. But you

  906. better make sure that you got the first

  907. part right, that I'm denying myself and

  908. I'm taking up my cross and I'm following

  909. him. Because otherwise you'll be living

  910. one way, speaking another way. And that

  911. is the problem that the world has with

  912. many people in the church. They say

  913. this, but they live this. Come on.

  914. It's time for our lives to be an

  915. accurate signpost.

  916. Lift him up.

  917. Talk about him.

  918. Preach Jesus. Talk about the father.

  919. talk about the Holy Spirit. What we do

  920. is we talk about our problems and

  921. somehow try to go through our problems

  922. and get to God. How about we talk about

  923. God and let God do some work

  924. supernaturally?

  925. Deny self. Deny self. Take up your

  926. cross. Follow me. Being a disciple means

  927. baptize them in the name of the father,

  928. the son, the holy spirit,

  929. and teaching them to obey everything

  930. I've commanded.

  931. We're going to finish. We're going to

  932. pray, but I need you to hear this right

  933. now. Teaching them to obey everything

  934. I've commanded. This goes back to the

  935. start. People don't want to be told what

  936. to do.

  937. Don't look at me, but you don't like

  938. being told what to do. It's only because

  939. you're not dead enough.

  940. Dead people don't mind being told what

  941. to do.

  942. Come on, let us sink in for a moment.

  943. They don't fight. But hang on. It's my

  944. right. Come on. The only right I have is

  945. to do the will of my father in heaven.

  946. And the will of my father in heaven is

  947. that I walk with him and I become like

  948. Jesus Christ. So that when people walk

  949. with me in my work and in my family,

  950. guess what? They're walking with me and

  951. I'm walking towards God. They have to

  952. end up closer to God.

  953. But part of that is not teaching them

  954. everything Jesus says. No, teach them to

  955. obey.

  956. Teach them to obey.

  957. And surely I am with you always.

  958. One of you close your eyes this morning.

  959. 2026 is a year to step forward and to

  960. step up.

  961. To step forward. to step up. Movement.

  962. Take another step. Take another step.

  963. It's about direction. It's about

  964. elevation coming up. Every eye closed in

  965. this place right now. And so I want to

  966. ask you by the spirit of God, what is

  967. your next step of obedience on this

  968. journey of being a disciple of Jesus

  969. Christ.

  970. Maybe for some your step of obedience is

  971. come follow me. Maybe you don't even

  972. know Jesus. The first step is if you

  973. believe in your heart, confess with your

  974. mouth, you will be saved. Praise the

  975. name of the Lord. But that's not the

  976. end. That's the start.

  977. Maybe for some, your next step is to

  978. commit to God sending you out

  979. to fish for people, to seek and save the

  980. lost, to be a minister of

  981. reconciliation, to help other people

  982. follow Jesus. Maybe your next step is

  983. this week, I'm going to I'm going to

  984. actively and intentionally deny myself

  985. when there's anything that I know is

  986. contrary to what God has asked me to do,

  987. including good things.

  988. Maybe for you, it's your next step is

  989. take up your cross. I need to commit to

  990. actually keeping on walking and not

  991. giving up. And come back tonight, we're

  992. going to talk about being strong in the

  993. Lord and his mighty power. God's going

  994. to do something powerful.

  995. Maybe it's commit to talking about God

  996. more and lifting him up. Maybe it's

  997. talking about your next step is I'm

  998. actually going to teach people to obey.

  999. I'm going to go on that journey.

1000. So, Father, in the name of Jesus,

1001. in the name of Jesus,

  1002. there's been

  1003. a clear word.

  1004. There's been a clear word.

1005. Jesus said, "Come follow me and I will

1006. fish send you out to fish for people."

1007. That is what it means to be a disciple.

1008. If God's been speaking to you and there

1009. is a next step in any of this that you

1010. know God is calling you and you even if

  1011. you're the pastor, even if you're

1012. leaders, if you doesn't matter who you

1013. are, if there's something in you that

  1014. says, "I don't want to just be a

1015. Christian. And I don't want to just be a

1016. lever believer. I want to live the

1017. fullness of what we've just talked

1018. about. I want to be a disciple of Jesus.

1019. Stand to your feet boldly right now

  1020. across this auditorium.

  1021. Don't be timid. Don't be timid. Don't be

  1022. timid.

1023. Lift your hands to heaven. Father, in

1024. the name of Jesus Christ, I release

1025. right now Holy Spirit to seal this word.

1026. Holy Spirit to seal this word. We yield

1027. to you. We submit to you, God. Teach us

1028. what it is to follow, to deny ourselves,

1029. to take up our cross. Father, we repent.

1030. If you need to do this, you need to do

1031. this right now. Father, I repent for,

1032. Lord, so often having me at the center

1033. of my Christian faith, about what I

1034. feel, what I want. Father, I right now

  1035. repent of that.

1036. God, I right now want to lift you up. I

1037. want to make it about you,

1038. but not just about me and you, but about

1039. others who will encounter God through my

  1040. life.

1041. As a church, we say yes to disciplehip.

1042. We say yes to disciplehip.

1043. We say yes to disciplehip. Being a

  1044. disciple.

1045. Being a disciple. I tell you right now,

  1046. Toranga will not

1047. talk about a move of God. It is already

1048. God doing great things. If you can live

1049. this not just in the emotion of right

1050. now, but wake up tomorrow morning, God

1051. help me to walk with you. If you I don't

1052. know how to do this. Ask the Holy

1053. Spirit. He will lead you into all truth.

1054. He will be the one who leads you. Keep

1055. in step with him. You don't have to work

1056. this out. You just need to walk it out

1057. with God and with other people. Forgive

1058. us for individualistic mindsets. Forgive

1059. us for walking alone. Forgive us, oh

  1060. God,

1061. for settling for less than being a

1062. disciple. And we say yes Lord. Yes Lord.

1063. Yes Lord. Yes Lord in Jesus name.
