enter our time of giving. Um thank you

to everyone that does give into the

house. Um we just had a great uh three

days, last three days here at um our

youth leaders conference um 2026. So it

was amazing. We had 120 youth leaders

come from uh all around the oxygen's all

around um come and fellowship and be

encouraged and level up as as leaders

and um disciple is that a word of young

people. Uh so yeah, we're able to do

that because of what you guys give. Um

so thank you to everyone. The four ways

to give on the screen uh are up there.

But Lord, we thank you for everything

that's been given in the house. Lord,

thank you for the ways that you uh use

it to grow your kingdom, Lord. That

we're able to have things like youth

leaders conference, Lord, and

functioning ministries uh in different

areas of church. We just give you glory,

Lord. Um continue in your work, Lord. We

just want to grow your kingdom in Jesus

All right. If you have your Bibles

today, I want you to turn to Luke 22:14.

Luke 22:14

This is the um Passover meal that Jesus

shared with his disciples before he was

crucified.

We're going to read from verse 14 to 20.

When the time came, Jesus and the

apostles sat down together at the table.

Jesus said, "I have been very eager to

eat this Passover meal with you before

my suffering begins. For I tell you now

that I won't eat this meal again until

the meaning is fulfilled in the kingdom

of God."

Then he took the cup of wine and gave

thanks to it to God for it. Then he

said, "Take this and share it among

yourselves, for I will not drink wine

again until the kingdom of God has come.

Then he took some bread and gave thanks

to God for it. He broke it into pieces

and gave it to the disciples saying,

"This is my body which is given for you.

Do this in remembrance of me." When we

think about communion, we often

naturally focus on the bread and the

wine. And rightly so. They remind us of

the body that was broken for us and the

blood that was poured out for us. But

today, I want us to focus on something

slightly different.

I want us to focus on when this moment

takes place.

It's not in a courtroom. It's not on a

battlefield. It's not in a temple. It's

not in a schoolyard. It's at a table. A

table is where families gather. It's

where people show, slow down, share

stories, laugh, and simply enjoying

being in each other's presence. I know

for my family, it's a place that is

safe, where you can be your true self.

Throughout scripture, the table

represents fellowship, belonging, and

relationship. And I don't think that's

accidental.

As Jesus sits with his disciples, he

knows what's about to happen. He knows

Judas Judas will betray him. He knows

Peter will deny him. And he knows the

others will flee from him.

Yet he doesn't push them away or shame

them. He invites them closer.

In verse 15, Jesus says,"I have been

very eager to eat this Passover meal."

In other versions, it says, "I have

eagerly desired." And I love that. It

reveals the heart of God.

Before Jesus endured the cross, before

his body was broken and his blood poured

out, Jesus's desire was to spend time

with the people he loved.

And that desire reveals something about

the heart of God. He has always wanted a

relationship with his children.

from the garden of Eden to the inner

room and now through Christ we see a

father who continuously

moves towards his children inviting them

into fellowship with him.

Sometimes we reduce the gospel to Jesus

died so I could be forgiven.

And although that is so true,

forgiveness was never the final

destination.

It was the doorway.

The father's goal has always been

relationship.

The cross didn't simply remove our sin.

It removed every single barrier that

kept us from coming home.

The cross wasn't about forgiveness. It

was about adoption as well.

In Romans 8:15-16, Paul says, "So you

Romans 8:15–16

have not received a spirit that makes

you a fearful slaves. Instead, you

received God's spirit when he adopted

you as his own children." Now, we call

him Abba Father, for his spirit joins

with our spirit to affirm that we are

God's children. And I love that Jesus

didn't simply die so that we could be

forgiven.

He died so that we could become beloved

sons and daughters adopted into his

family.

When he took the bread, he was saying,

"This is my body given for you.

I am giving everything

so that you could belong."

When he lifted the cup and spoke of the

new covenant in his blood, he was

establishing a relationship that could

never again be based upon our own

striving, performance, our ability to

get everything right. Cuz let's face it,

we always fall short.

Our identity is no longer built on our

performance, our failures or successes,

or what other people think about us.

Our identity is found in whose we are.

We are children of the father and

because of Jesus, we don't approach God

with a spirit of fear, wondering if

we've done enough.

And that's what makes communion so

beautiful. We don't come to the table

trying to earn our seat because Jesus

has already prepared one for us. We

don't come as servants hoping we've done

enough.

We come with confidence of the sons and

daughters that we who know they are

loved.

I wonder if that's what some of us need

to remember today. Maybe you've had a

week where you felt like you've fallen

short. Maybe you've been carrying shame.

Maybe you've been questioning your worth

or wondering if God is growing distant.

Communion is a great way to gently

remind us that the father has never

stopped pursuing us.

His fa heart heart has always been for

relationship.

Jesus didn't say fix yourself and come.

He said, "Take and eat." He knew exactly

who was sitting around that table. Yet,

he still offered himself. And that's the

kind of father we have. A father who

runs towards prodals. A father who

restores identity and who delights in

calling us his own.

As we take communion today, let's do

more than remember the cross.

Let's remember that we are chosen,

forgiven, welcomed, and sons of

daughters because of what Christ has

done. The table isn't just a place of

remembrance. It's a place of belonging.

And today, we're going to do something

slightly different. And because we're

all family here and our children are

still with us, we're going to break into

small groups of those sitting around us

and spend the next 30 seconds just

praying together, thanking Jesus for his

sacrifice. Thanking the father for

adopting us into his family and praying

that each person would know not just in

their minds but in their hearts how

truly and fully known and loved they

are.

When you're all ready, please stand with

us as we enter into a time of worship to

Almighty God this morning.

into the

spirit of God.

All authority.

I pray over my heart and might.

I am healed by your stripes. Your blood

declares that I am free. In the mighty

name of Jesus

I pray.

where you've just really struggled even

as with what uh Jeff led us and where

maybe just something's caused you to

really uh just have maybe an attitude

that you're struggling to see the

goodness of God. Then right now I just

release a grace that scales would fall

off eyes in the name of Jesus. that

there would be a fresh picture for you

of just how good Jesus is. Lord, would

you heal our hearts and our minds of of

improper pictures of you, Lord? We thank

you for your goodness. We love you this

Hey, as we uh said last week and um

asked people to pray, we've had um a few

youth leaders from around the country

gathering in Tonga. I think maybe about

120 in total. Was there Brody? Uh youth

leaders from around the country uh uh

gathering uh here uh just to seek God

together and learn. So I've asked Pastor

Brody if you'll come share a couple of

uh highlights of what's happened. Why

don't we give Pastor Brody a huge

welcome as he comes.

Yeah, boy.

>> So good. Yeah. Uh like Aaron mentioned,

we just ran our youth leaders conference

uh Thursday, Friday, Saturday, and uh an

epic turnout. We had people from the

South Island. Uh we even had people from

Wellington that still have hung around

and can't get rid of actually. Second

row over there, come home, please. We

love you. We miss you. Um but it was

incredible uh few days together. Um what

was real cool is just uh on Friday the

Friday night uh man the presence of God

was just so evident in this room and we

started at 7 and I think we finished at

like 10:30 people just wanting to

worship and I still believe like people

would have just stayed even up until now

worshiping God just because the presence

of God was in this place and we've just

had some testimonies coming back where

there's been youth pastors and youth

leaders that have felt like quitting

felt like giving up and they really felt

like God just reminded them in this

season to keep going to keep pressing

Then um we had people uh mention that

they uh haven't slept well for like

months and they came in and during

conference was the first time in months

that they've experienced good sleep. Um

we had other uh we had like one youth

leader come in and she was like I can't

believe it. Like I had this encounter

with God when I was 16 and I'm turning

40 this year and that was the last time

that I really felt like an encounter

with the Lord. And on Friday night I

encountered God like I was at youth camp

again. And so, um, the presence of God

was just in this place, but the whole

hope and heart behind it, I felt like a

year ago, God just placed on my heart. I

mean, I love young people and I love

seeing what God's doing here. Um, and I

love hearing what God's doing across the

nation. But I just really sensed and

felt, man, we can level up. We can

become better youth leaders. Um, we can

be become better disciple makers. And

so, the whole hope and heart of it was

that we would come gather together, that

would be encouraged with what God's

doing across the nation, but that we

would leave better together. And I just

really believe like people have taken

practical schools whether they have five

kids in the youth ministry or 200 kids.

Um every single person seemed to have

been really encouraged this last week.

Um and so yeah, that's pretty much what

happened. That's what took place. Thank

you for those that came and served and

helped out and thank you for those that

were praying behind the scenes, too. Um

even myself as youth pastor, I felt

super refreshed and recharged and

reminded of the call of God on my life

to keep going again. So, um, no promises

that I'll stay for 10 more years, but

who knows? Bless you.

>> So, you can just pray those golden

heavenly handcuffs over Pastor Brody

that he uh stays in Jesus' name. How

good. Um, how many people are grateful

for Pastor Brody? Eh,

>> yeah.

>> Um, you know, I do really want to honor

um honor Brody. Uh the reason why so

many people gathered is because of what

God is doing uh here. And it is a move

of God. It's not a move of Pastor Brody,

but he's stewarding it so well with him

and his team. And so um yeah, we just

really honor what uh what God is doing

um amongst our young people. So grateful

to see uh just God moving in that way uh

in so many lives. And um

you want to know what I'm doing right

now?

Got to be honest.

Elijah is at the uh national cubing

champs right now and he is about to find

out whether he got through to the second

round or not. So I'm just checking the

live updates to see uh he hasn't gone

yet. It's okay. We might get an update

towards the end of the message. So, um,

uh,

he, uh, got through to the second round

and he was the 44th fastest and you got

to make the top 32 to get through to the

semis. So, he he he's a bit of a chance,

but uh, uh, so um, anyway, you're should

we, uh, gather around the word of God,

Awesome. Hey, uh this morning I really

want to talk a little bit and actually

me checking uh Elijah's scores is kind

of okay because this morning we're going

to talk on a part of who we are to be as

a church which is we are to be a church

of a multi- uh generational church. And

so we have these three words, prayer,

presence, mission on the wall. And

really the way we would frame up who we

are as a church is we are a

multi-generational

church pursuing Jesus through prayer,

presence, and mission. We are a

multi-generational church that's

pursuing Jesus through prayer, presence,

and mission. And uh what's interesting

is the enemy has a plan to divide

generations. The enemy has a plan that

generations would be divided. And we

live in a world that seeks to divide

generations. And uh as that great Mike

in the Mechanic song says, every

generation blames the one before. And

it's kind of like the the the nature of

uh generations is that every generation

blames the one before and then every

other generation above often uh in the

world scolds the generation below. It's

like, well, look at them. They're just

into this. And it's like, well, no

wonder we're into this. We can't afford

a house cuz you guys bought them all

cheap and now you're selling them

expensive. Well, no wonder you can't

afford a house. You buy avocado on

toast. We never did that in my day. And

so we have this cultural narrative that

goes on that is designed to uh divide

the generations. But I believe the Lord

is after a multi-generational

revival.

>> And sometimes in churches when we've

heard that, what that kind of gets

interpreted is we're just all about

young people. Can I tell you we're about

young people, but we're about every

generation. We're not after just one

generation. We believe we need every

generation on fire for Jesus, honoring

one another. And so, it's a huge deal

for us as a church. And so this morning

is going to be probably just a recap of

a few thoughts that I have. Many of them

I've shared here before, but it is

something that we just need to have in

our DNA as a church because it is

central to who we are. And can I say if

you're here and you're like, "Well, I

don't really like the other

generations." This probably isn't going

to be a great church for you. If you're

here and you're young and you're like,

"Uh, don't really like coming to church

where there's old people." Well, sorry.

Like, maybe there'll be a church where

they focus on young people. Ah, those

young people. This probably isn't going

to be the place for you. You might

struggle here a little bit because man,

we believe we need every generation

honored, represented, and we believe

that there is a momentum of God that we

get the privilege of laying a platform

that generations can come after and they

can walk on the floor that we had as a

ceiling that it is actually the

privilege and it is the nature of a

generation to want the next generation

to exceed what they did. We we we we

shouldn't be threatened. We should

actually view have an inheritance

mindset that says we want each

generation to go to another level beyond

what we did.

Should we turn to some scripture seeing

how we've done cubing? And uh if you've

got your Bible, you can start at the

very beginning. Genesis chapter 1.

I was even disciplined I didn't look at

So, we have mankind created and then the

first thing that happens is it says that

God blessed them.

I don't know if you've ever noticed like

church talks a lot about blessing and

Christian language is often like God

bless you brother. God bless you. Hey

bless you. Bless you. Bless you. I don't

know how many times I say bless you a

week but I would suggest it might be

well in the hundreds like hey God bless.

God bless. God bless. Um it's a great

prayer when you don't have words

anymore. Like when you're fried you're

like bless you bless you. Bless you.

It's like a great prayer. But the very

first act of God towards humanity was to

bless them.

God blessed them.

And so we understand part of the reason

why we always say bless you. God bless

you is because it was something in our

fabric that the very first human

experience was actually being blessed by

God.

The original human experience was being

blessed by God. Isn't that an awesome

thing? Some people say, "Oh, that church

just wants to be a bless me club." Well,

of course.

I mean, we don't ignore that there's

struggles in life that there are things

that does everything go perfect. Of

course not. But people like, "Oh, yeah.

They just want to be blessed." Well,

what's the opposite? I certainly don't

want to be cursed. I can tell you that.

Like so God blessed them in the original

and in that moment he set a momentum

that the church and the kingdom and the

people of God would be the ultimate

bless me club. God would you bless me.

So God blessed them. It is the nature of

our father to bless them. But this is

what he then says next. He said be

fruitful and m multiply. Fill the earth

and subdue it and have dominion over the

fish of the sea. Oh come on. especially

kingfish

and over the birds

of the heavens and over every living

thing that moves including wagoo beef. I

reckon that's a little bit of creative

interpretation. But what happens is God

blesses them

and then he actually releases them a

mandate that is only going to be

fulfilled through multigenerations.

So he actually blesses them and then he

says multiply and that actually is

literally saying hey I blessed you now

you are going to have generations

like you're blessed and now there will

be generations that will come forth from

you

and it's interesting because I think

it's part of the vehicle it's one of the

vehicles of blessing because here's the

thing about being blessed. When God

blesses you, it is never just for you.

It's far more like a river than a lake.

It's not a lake where you just take the

blessing and go, "Wow, I'm blessed now."

No, it's actually a river that was to

flow through. So, even in the nature of

God blessing them. He could not bless

them outside of also giving them a

commission that there were going to be

other people because that blessing had

to have a place to flow. The blessing

had to have a place to flow to others.

You see, I think sometimes when people

say, "Oh, you're just a bless me club."

They mean you're you're just after the

blessing for yourself rather than a

blessing that would flow through

generations.

And we are to be a people of blessing

that flows through generations. It is

the nature of blessing to be a river,

not a lake.

God blessed them. And then we see we go

on to Abraham and we see his call before

he was Abraham. He was Abraham. And God

says to him, "Go from your country and

your kindred and your father's house to

the land I will show you and I will make

you a great nation and I will bless

you." So here again, God will bless him

and make his name great. And then what

happens? so that you will be a blessing.

You are blessed to be a blessing. It

it's not just a Christian cliche. It's

actually the way the kingdom works. You

are blessed. You receive from him so

that you can be a blessing. And then he

explains what does this blessing look

like?

He says,"I will bless those who uh and

and I will bless you and make your name

great so that you will be a blessing. I

will bless those who bless you and and

him who dishonors you I will curse and

in you all the families of the earth

shall be blessed." So, hey, I'm going to

bless you and I'm going to create a

momentum in you that causes every family

going forward to be blessed. This was

the covenant God is making with Abram.

And it is a covenant about generational

blessing.

And can I say this morning that God's

heart for generational blessing has not

changed. He still has a heart where he

is wanting generations to be blessed.

You see, I found myself in the midst of

a uh multi-generational

story that I just feel like the the

kindness of God towards me. Um, growing

up, I did not grow up in a family where

we did things with our extended family.

Like we tended to not do things with our

extended family. I really don't want to

offend anyone, but they they were from

uh Invagle and they um were a little bit

different. We'll just say that. This is

being live streamed. Oh, can we cut that

out? Um

if you're watching, I love you.

They're not watching. Haven't got

internet yet. Um

okay, I'm going to move on. Um,

I grew up in a family where we didn't do

a whole lot with our extended family.

And actually, I never met two of my

grandparents. I was the youngest. Um,

and so two of them had passed away

before um, you know, I um was born and

and the other two both passed away

before I was five. And so I grew up in a

loving family, but I didn't grow up in

real uh identity of legacy and of family

blessing. And hey, I understand there'll

be people who will go, man, I would give

anything to even have your story. Like I

know there'll be people here that will

be like, man, you think that's

dysfunctional? My family puts the fun in

dysfunctional, right? Like I get it that

there are people that would go, "Man,

like your story is sad, Aaron, but you

don't even know the levels of

dysfunction that I was in in my

generations." And hey, I acknowledge

that as a as a real thing um you know

that many of us may have come in. And so

for me, I I didn't have this real strong

generational connect. And then when I

was 12, my dad suddenly passed away. And

so what I found was this uh just this

disconnect of um in in life and I guess

for me already didn't have a wider

support network of family. There was uh

for me felt very isolated as a young

man. Um and uh you know heartbroken and

to be honest there weren't really any

other men in my world at that stage as a

12-year-old boy. We'd moved uh cities a

few years earlier. So a lot of our old

friends family network wasn't there

anymore. And so I didn't really have

anyone that as a man was like hey how

are you doing? like and um and so what

happened though, my dad got saved just

before I um just before he passed away.

And so I remember thinking I'd seen his

life change. Uh he got saved. His life

did change. Not totally. I remember he

still got really angry with me when I

laughed when he prayed during grace on

Christmas Day cuz we never prayed. And

then all of a sudden my dad was praying

and I thought that was funny. and he

apparently was not saved enough to be

totally saved of all of his anger. And

uh he did not think that his son

laughing at his very first audition of

public prayer at the dinner table was a

good thing. And consequently, it was not

the best Christmas of my life. Uh but

anyway, he he had been saved. And so I'd

seen transformation in him and I was

like, man, I wonder what this is. And so

I began to go to a youth group. And um

man, I'm so grateful for youth

ministries. And our youth ministry was

kind of like a youth and young adults in

one at that stage. And so we had like a

number of youth leaders who were like 30

to 35, like probably about 15 of them.

It was effectively their young adults

group where they would come and come to

youth group and be youth leaders and

young adults all in one. Uh it's maybe

not what you're supposed to do, but it's

just what what we had. And so what it

meant was I came into this youth

ministry and all of a sudden I was

surrounded by people who wanted to speak

into my life.

And the next few years what I had to do

was I had to grow and change my mindset

and become someone that allowed others

to speak into my life. And not not I

don't even mean just challenge. I mean,

I just had to allow myself to open up

and actually be like, "Lord, would you

minister to me through these people?

God, help me." I have a natural defense

of just saying, "No thanks." And I need

to learn what it is to step forward. You

see, I always love the scripture after

my dad had passed away and I came to

Jesus and you know, the scriptures say

that that God is a father to the

fatherless. And I was like, man, that's

amazing. Like, and I was so grateful for

that promise. But you know what? The

next verses, he puts the solitary in a

family.

And it was like, I I love the idea of

God being a father to the fatherless

until he's then like, hey, that actually

looks like you becoming family to

people. Hey, that actually looks like me

placing you somewhere and you being

willing to become family to those who he

has placed you in.

And so I found myself in the midst of

this

uh I didn't realize it was

multigenerational, but just having these

people encourage me and build into my

life. And uh it it it started a theme

that I didn't even know that God was

doing that would continue over the next

decades of my life and has still

continued where I felt like for whatever

reason

God took me as someone who felt so

broken, so disconnected in family and

was like, I I'm going to put

people in your life who are going to

encourage you and speak into you and

bless you. And man, I am so grateful.

I've had so many amazing people speak

into my life. And then he's like, "But

then I'm going to put you in a family."

And we uh came to to Elim and Pastor

Trevor um uh became our senior pastor,

Pastor Trevor and Debbie, and were just

so kind to us. Like we were Bible

college students. The first mission trip

I ever went on, Pastor Trevor personally

paid for me. I wasn't his youth pastor.

I was just a Bible college student at

his church and he's like, "Hey, I really

feel I just want to pay for you and

bless you to go to uh Fiji on a mission

trip. I remember uh I asked to borrow

his lawn mower cuz we moved into a new

house. Hadn't had our lawn mower yet. He

just turned up and mowed my lawns." Um

and so Trev is a great person to ask to

borrow his lawn mower just quietly. If

you ever need your lawns done, just ask

him, "Hey, can I borrow the lawn mower?"

Um and uh amazing. And so just felt like

I was invited into the story. And I

realized this morning like uh normally

uh we I I do tell a lot of stories, but

normally we go go through scriptures in

a systematic way, but I'm actually

wanting to share some of my heart with

you this morning. I'm actually wanting

to share some of my journey around like

why for me this is a core conviction,

but I believe it wasn't a conviction

that was in the heart of Aaron. It

wasn't a conviction because it was just

my experience. It was a conviction

because it was my experience of

something that God did and birthed in me

and has placed on our church. And so

it's actually the heartbeat of who we

are to be as people that we are to model

a multigenerational church. So I uh

became youth pastor at Tonga Elim. Um,

Brody was in my youth group uh back in

those days. Pastor Trevor wanted to get

rid of him on a a Friday night. So, he

he got to like 10 years old, maybe

eight, eight, nine, nine, 10, somewhere

around there. And he goes, "Oh, Brody's

going to start coming to youth group."

I'm like, "He's 10." And he's like, "Oh,

no. It's good. He's He's good." I mean,

I can tell you that was awkward when we

did the sex talk at youth group and 10

10-year-old Brody McDow is sitting

there. He's still a little bit scarred

from that. That's why he's single, you

know. It's just that that he's like,

"Man, as a 10year-old, I had to listen

just Okay, move on." Uh

so he he would come as a as a 10year-old

and uh man isn't it amazing what Jesus

does like I think now to think that

there was that 10-year-old boy that

would come to our youth ministry and now

to see that what uh he is a part of

leading and what God is doing that man

is just uh it's not all about numbers

100% but Man, it is significant numbers.

But the number of kids being discipled

and encountering Jesus, the numbers are

awesome because of what's happening, not

because of numbers, man. It's like

people are being and I never would have

guessed when this 10-year-old boy came

into youth and had to play drums and had

to be on a high seat cuz he couldn't

quite reach the the top thing and to

come in. I never would have guessed that

God was writing something in that would

cause generations

that would bless generationally.

And it is part of who we are as a church

that we have this thread and it's not

just in leaders and it's not just

leadership. It's actually just this

thread of blessing that flows through.

So, how does this become not just

something that we say, "Oh, well, that's

nice that um you know,

we have a few stories of generational

blessing." What does it actually look

like for generations to not just

tolerate each other, but actually be in

a multi-generational

revival? I love the scripture in Malachi

where there's a prophetic word and it's

it's partly outworked through John the

Baptist come but it says this. It says

behold I will send Elijah the prophet

before the great and awesome day of the

Lord and he will turn the hearts of the

fathers to their children and the hearts

of their children to their fathers least

I come and strike the land with a decree

of utter destruction.

And so there's this proclamation that

what will happen is hearts will be

turned yes within physical families but

I think it's also uh representation uh

representing generations that that

hearts of fathers will be turned to sons

and hearts of sons will be turned to

fathers. What happens to fuel a

multi-generational revival is our hearts

begin to turn. And I I I know I've said

this before, but you know, the next

generation

need a place in your heart, not a piece

of your mind.

>> And

the older generations need a place in

your heart, not a rolling of your eyes.

like that we actually

have this thing where our hearts are

turned.

You see, it all starts with the heart.

Cuz sometimes I'll have people come and

they're like, "Hey, I I want to mentor a

young person." And I'm like, "That's

awesome. Have you talked to any?" Well,

no, but I've just got all this stuff I

want to share. like I I just see some of

their mistakes and I see how they could

be doing things better and I see what

and I'm like okay let's start by turning

our hearts like let's start not with

like man I have all the stuff they need

to know but let's start by saying man

what would it look like to begin to what

will my heart be turned towards them

what do they need not what do I think

they need because those things aren't

the same question

sometimes we can be like, "Hey, I think

I know I know what they need." And uh

Pastor Brody was sharing with me a a

message that he heard the other week

where a young 19year-old preached and he

mentioned Gen Z. And then within it uh

all the comments, someone commented and

said, "Finally, someone in the church

from Gen Z is talking about Gen Z."

Because they were like, "What generally

happens is old bold men like me stand up

and talk about the next generation and

go this is what the next generation

wants. This is what they need." And

they're like, "Yeah, thanks old bold

guy."

And sometimes we don't start with

turning our hearts. We start with what

we know. And man, can I say there is

such wisdom and value wrapped up in all

generations. And we do need that wisdom

and value. But it doesn't start by

saying, "I've got wisdom to share." It

starts by saying, "I've got a turned

heart."

And we want our young people to have

hearts turned towards the older

generations. I include myself in that,

so don't feel offended. Um

that our hearts would be turned. You

see, I think the scriptures kind of have

this pattern where um it it it's not a

commandment as such. It's a pattern that

you can see where older generations

bless and provide inheritance for

younger generations. It says a in

Proverbs 19:22, "A good person leaves an

Proverbs 19:22

inheritance for their children's

children, but a sinner's wealth is

stored up for the righteous." There is

something about righteousness that is

supposed to leave inheritance for

multiple generations. And that is not

just uh uh financial that is actually

inheritance that we are supposed to pay

a price that leaves inheritance for

future generations. We're supposed to

live in such a way that that our hearts

are turned. And so if you're on the

older generation, you're like, man,

where do I even start with this,

man? Can can I suggest you start by

saying, Lord, what would it look like

for me to bless the next generation?

What would that look like? Not for what

would it look like for me to have

influence or what would it like look

like for me to be able to share or what

would it look like for me to mentor, but

starting off by saying, "What would it

look like for me to bless them? God, how

could I bless them, Lord? How could I be

a person of blessing? Lord, would you

turn my heart? How could I bless the

next generation?

And I think sometimes we hear the grand

stories and then we say terms like

multigenerational revival and we can

kind of think it's so complex, but so

often it's so simple. I can tell you in

one word every young person's love

language fo o d.

You want to influence the next

generation, come to Pastor Brody and

say, "Man, I'll cook an amazing supper

for your youth leaders." I I can tell

you, they will feel that your heart is

turned towards them. They will be like,

I I hear that applause.

But just deciding, hey, what could I do

practically? That's simple. that's not

trying to be mentor a generation but

saying Lord how could I bless Lord how

could I leave an inheritance Lord how

could I do that

when I was

a youth leader in Christ Church we had a

youth ministry that was called ground

zero and we um we had these hoodr rats

that would come to our youth ministry

and they were rugged ass and uh we would

try and reach them for Jesus and they

were pretty um pretty out there and um

what we did was a few of us started a

touch team and were playing touch on a

Thursday night and uh the problem is

some of these children like to give some

advice to the referee that maybe wasn't

particularly Christian language and part

of the other problem was

the youth leader was still only in his

mid20s and he would sometimes get a bit

frustrated with the referee, but we

would play touch and we'd have a Bible

study. And I'll always remember there

were two ladies in our church that lived

together. They were retired

missionaries. They were in their late

70s.

And every week they would say, "We're

praying for your young people's Bible

study." They never asked to come. They

never They said, "Hey, what are the

names? We're praying for those young

boys that are struggling that they would

come to know Jesus." I was like, "How

beautiful." And then they even inquired,

"Hey, how's your touch going?" I said,

"Hey, we made the semi-finals." Well, I

could not believe I'm on the sideline

and I look up and there's these two

nearly 80-year-old ladies on the

sideline watching our touch and all of a

sudden I'm like, I'll be on my best

behavior. I was just angry with the

riff. I'm like,

but that's multigenerational revival.

I still 20 years ago, I know Nero and

Esther were their names. They even sound

old.

Sorry to Esther.

Nil and Esther just wanted to bless the

next generation.

How beautiful. And for the younger

generation

generally the pattern in scripture is

that the younger generation honor the

older generations.

Now just like blessing should be given

and not demanded, it's the same for

honor. that true honor is given, not

demanded. So, it's not, "Hey, you guys

need to do this for the older

generation, but a heart that actually

says, "Man, I want to honor someone."

Wow, I heard that one of the people in

our church had a hip operation. Why

don't I go mow their lawns? What would

it look like to honor them? And that we

actually create a culture where we

mutually honor one another and our

hearts are turned

You know, if you come to our church, I

really hope there are some things that

happen within our services that you go,

"Oh, that wasn't really relevant to me."

I mean, one of our elim DNA is to be

relevant. But I hope there are bits of

the service that aren't relevant for

every generation because I hope there

are bits that every generation leans

into a little bit and goes, "Oh, that

was for me." Or or that was cool. And

then, you know, a younger generation is

rolling their eyes going, "Oh, that was

a bit different." And then, you know, a

bit later on, an older generation is

going, "Gee, I I'm all for the next

generation, but does it really need to

be that loud?" Um, and uh, you know, I

hope we have those kind of moments. And

then I hope within it that our hearts

are turned, that we have hearts that

turn. Can I tell you honestly, I'm so

encouraged by what God is doing through

the generations. on illucian what he

runs our seniors group. He just does an

amazing job. Like man, he is gifted. I

can tell you he's gifted on a

spreadsheet as well. He is a man of

order and discipline and he's got

spreadsheets and texts and he's awesome.

He like, man, I'm I'm thinking I need

some tips on how to administer a group

because he's so good at at administering

it and creating an environment where our

seniors want to come. You know, I'm so

encouraged by what's happening through

all generations in our church. And my

heart is that we would have a

multi-generational

revival where our hearts would be turned

one to another.

That it wouldn't be a law where we set

up huge structures, but it would start

with a heart to bless and honor. And so

what I want to finish this morning by

doing is I'm going to invite a couple of

people from uh different generations to

come up and pray a blessing over the

generations. I was I've asked uh Danny

and uh Pat Buckley to come. So if you

guys want to come now, that would be

amazing. And um I did say to Danny um

you can pray for the um I told her she

was allowed to say older generations. So

um yeah, I was kind of like what do we

say? You can pray for the generation

above you. I was like, "We're old, so

you can pray for us." Um, but thought

it'd be awesome if she round,

awesome.

We might have just lost our nextgen

prayer, but Brody will uh go and uh find

her,

which might be a good opportunity for a

Rubik's cubing update.

It's really hard to find someone's name.

Ah, there we go. Awesome. He finished

46th in New Zealand. So, that's pretty

cool.

And if anyone is interested, he had a

14second average across five solves on a

Rubik's cube. So yeah, pretty cool.

Wilson Daddy, come. Let's welcome her.

She is an awesome young lady and I'm

actually going to ask her to start by

praying a prayer of blessing. And uh man

um

we love you heaps. So appreciate you and

uh appreciate you coming to pray a

blessing. So man um young people who are

generally over this side you can just

reach your hand out towards all of these

bold gray heads and uh bless them in the

mighty name of Jesus.

>> Okay, cool. Let's all pray together.

Um yeah, Lord, I just want to um yeah,

just lift up this generation to you,

Lord. Lord, I just pray that they would

just continue to deepen their

relationship with you, Lord. That you

would just bless them with a fresh fire,

Lord. Just fresh wisdom, Lord. And that

you would just bless them with

sensitivity to the Holy Spirit, Lord.

And um yeah, Lord, I just also want to

pray that you would also just um

yeah, Lord, that you would just continue

to remind each and every one of them,

Lord, that they still have a God-given

purpose, Lord. And Lord, that you would

just continue to remind them, Lord, that

you're still using them to encourage

others, to lead others, and to disciple

those around them, Lord. And um yeah,

Lord, I just want to lift up just, you

know, their physical, emotional, and

spiritual strength to you, Lord, that

you would just continue to Yeah. just

heal them where healing is needed, Lord.

That you would just continue to sustain

them, Lord. And um yeah, that you would

just fill them with hope and joy and

yeah, just your peace and love, Lord.

And um yeah, Lord, I just pray, Lord,

that you would also just um

yeah, that you would just let them um

that you would just let the yeah, just

the fruit of their faith, Lord, um be

seen, Lord, just by the generations to

come, Lord. Yeah. In Jesus name. Amen.

>> Father, I just speak life and blessing

over this generation that is growing in

the church. Lord, I just pray that you

would just give them a humility and a

grace to reach out and connect with the

older generation. That they would see uh

the wisdom and the grace that's gone

before them. And Lord, they would be

willing to open their hearts with

humility and receive words of wisdom,

words of guidance, words of love, Lord,

acts of service, Lord, that they would

be uh open enough to recognize and

acknowledge that the generations that

have gone before them uh have paid a

price, Lord, in many ways. And Lord, I

just pray that they would acknowledge

and respect and learn to develop a a a

an ability to to reach out and to talk

to the older generation, Lord, that they

wouldn't fear and feel inadequate, but

they would just with humility reach out

in simple com conversation and just

connect and find ways to connect with

them, Lord. that they would uh just

recognize the the uh mantle that's on

them and Lord that they would be uh just

open to hearing what you have to say

through this generation. Father, bless

them. I speak life. I pray that the

generations that are now here, Lord,
