  1. All right. So, today we're going to be

  2. in uh door number eight. So, door number

  3. eight. And all that means is that in

  4. Revelation, God opens doors for us to

  5. see into the future, to see into the

  6. present, and to see what he is doing.

  7. It's kind of a a peak behind the curtain

  8. of what God is up to. And so, uh, in

  9. door number eight, we get to see the

  10. final battle between Jesus and the red

  11. dragon. The final battle between Jesus

  12. and Satan. And friends, it's kind of

  13. anticlimactic. Got to be honest with

  14. you. Uh, it's a blowout. It's like Super

  15. Bowl. Um, 1986, the Bears over the Pats

  16. 46-10. I know we got some Cowboys fans

  17. in here, right? Any

  18. >> a couple couple Cowboys fans? Well, um,

  19. you know, that's like Super Bowl in 1993

  20. when the Cowboys beat the Bills 52 to

  21. 17. Uh, Redskins fans got one for you,

  22. too. Wait one. Okay, great. I thought

  23. there were more. That's why I looked

  24. this up. I I was like, have they even

  25. seen a Super Bowl? I didn't remember. Um

  26. anyway, uh in 1988, the Redskins over

  27. the Broncos 42-10. It was a blowout. It

  28. wasn't much of a contest, right? This is

  29. not like the end of Avengers Endgame

  30. when Captain America makes that famous

  31. call. He's like on your right. Like

  32. that's the coolest thing. I got

  33. goosebumps when that happened cuz I'm a

  34. nerd. I don't care. Um like like it's

  35. not like that. It's not this final

  36. battle with Thanos that goes for like

  37. two and a half hours now. It's not like

  38. John Wayne and that cabin shootout and

  39. True Grit. Nothing like that. It's not

  40. like Young Guns, by the way. Shout out

  41. to John Bonjovi for one of the greatest

  42. soundtracks in the history of mankind.

  43. Um, criminally underrated actor Alio

  44. Estz in that movie as well. But nobody

  45. goes down in a blaze of glory in this

  46. battle. So, I'm sorry to tell you that

  47. we're not going to get to read about

  48. some epic battle at the end of time

  49. between Jesus and the red dragon. And

  50. that is because

  51. Jesus puts the red dragon to sleep. And

  52. he does it in the twinkling of an eye.

  53. So even though the battle may not be

  54. epic, the result of the battle is

  55. actually pretty epic. When when Jesus

  56. makes the red dragon, the Satan, the

  57. devil, when he makes him tap out, you

  58. got to understand that this is the end

  59. of death. All the things that we just

  60. sang about up here, it's the the end of

  61. that. It's the end of death. Anybody

  62. that's ever been through uh the grieving

  63. process when someone you love dies, you

  64. know how painful that is and how long

  65. that grief lasts. Do you understand that

  66. when Jesus puts the red dragon to sleep

  67. that that feeling will never be felt

  68. again because there will be no more

  69. death? There will be no more grief.

  70. Think about people that have battled

  71. prolonged illness. Maybe you have a

  72. loved one. Maybe you have battled a

  73. prolonged illness or a disease and you

  74. know how how how hard that suffering is.

  75. Well, when when the red dragon taps out

  76. to Jesus, when he throws him into the

  77. pit, when he gets rid of our enemy, no

  78. one ever has to suffer like that again.

  79. Illness, disease, all those things will

  80. be gone. No more broken relationships.

  81. No more f food insecurity. No more

  82. anxiety about politics. No more sin. No

  83. more guilt. No more shame. No more

  84. death. No more dis disease. No more

  85. division. No more loss. No more fear. No

  86. more violence. Hey, you know who's going

  87. to be out of work after this battle

  88. happens?

  89. I'm number one on the list. It's not

  90. just me. There are a lot of other people

  91. going to be out of work, too. No more

  92. presidents. All right. No. No more uh

  93. medical professionals needed, no more

  94. therapists. We're all out of work. Why?

  95. Because all the stuff that we try to

  96. help people with will be gone. All the

  97. suffering and humanity will be taken

  98. away. So what am I going to do in

  99. heaven? I mean like if you want to know

  100. about Noah, you can literally just walk

  101. over and talk to Noah. Uh if you want to

  102. know what the Bible says, you can

  103. actually just go and ask the people that

  104. wrote the Bible. You can go to Jesus and

  105. be like, "What does this mean?" and he

  106. will tell you. So, there's like no need

  107. for me. So, I'm guessing maybe I'll open

  108. like a a heavenly eBay store. I was kind

  109. of thinking about that. Be kind of rad,

  110. wouldn't it? Like, you know, I wonder

  111. what the Ark of the Covenant would be

  112. worth on uh bidding. Just saying. I got

  113. dibs on that, too. Anyway,

  114. so we're going to talk about the new

  115. heaven and the new earth, but that's

  116. going to be next week. So, you're going

  117. to have to come back to talk more about

  118. this. But today, we're going to kind of

  119. talk about the endgame. We're going to

  120. talk about all the things that lead up

  121. to that final battle and then next week

  122. we'll talk about the results of the

  123. final battle. So today we're going to

  124. talk about two things. Number one, a

  125. wedding feast and number two, the

  126. millennial reign of Christ. So let's

  127. start with this wedding feast. This is

  128. uh Revelation chapter 19 and we'll start

    Revelation 19 chapter mention

  129. reading in verse 6.

  130. Apostle John talking and he says, "Then

  131. I heard something like a voice of a vast

  132. multitude, like the sound of cascading

  133. waters, like the rumbling of loud

  134. thunder saying, hallelujah, because our

  135. Lord God, the Almighty, reigns. Let us

  136. be glad. Let us rejoice and give him

  137. glory because the marriage of the Lamb

  138. has come and his bride has prepared

  139. herself." That's us. She was given fine

  140. linen to wear, bright and pure. for the

  141. fine linen represents the righteous acts

  142. of the saints. Then he said to me,

  143. "Write, blessed are those who are

  144. invited to the marriage feast of the

  145. lamb." And then he says to me, "These

  146. words of God are true." I love this

  147. because God has always encouraged his

  148. people around a table. So, so make all

  149. the Baptist jokes you want about how

  150. much we like to feast because we're just

  151. being biblically faithful, right?

  152. Now, yes, we do like barbecue and fried

  153. chicken as well, but we're just trying

  154. to be biblically faithful because the

  155. Bible talks about feasts over and over

  156. again. In the Old Testament, there are

  157. so many feasts that God commands his

  158. people to take part in. One of the most

  159. famous, of course, is the Passover

  160. feast. Initially, this feast was to

  161. celebrate how God redeemed his people

  162. and brought them out of Egyp Egyptian

  163. slavery. But then moving forward, this

  164. feast began to symbolize all of the the

  165. the good things, the abundance that that

  166. God continues to provide for his people.

  167. And then when you move into the New

  168. Testament, Jesus brings us a new feast,

  169. a new meal that we are supposed to take

  170. part in regularly. And that is of course

  171. the Lord's supper. The Lord's supper is

  172. the celebration of our liberation from

  173. sin and death. It's the celebration of

  174. what Jesus did for us on the cross. It's

  175. a celebration of of getting together as

  176. a a church family and taking the the

  177. bread and the wine or in our case the

  178. juicy juice because we're we're

  179. Baptists. So, you know, we got the bread

  180. and the the juice, right? And we take

  181. these things in remembrance of what

  182. Jesus did for us on the cross. We think

  183. about how his body was broken for us.

  184. That's the bread. And how his blood was

  185. spilled for us to redeem us. That's the

  186. juice, the wine. The this symbol is a

  187. celebration of what Jesus did on the

  188. cross for us to conquer our greatest

  189. enemies, sin and death, and to put to

  190. sleep the red dragon. Now, it's not

  191. surprising to me then that the library

  192. of scripture, which is what the word

  193. Bible means, this is a library of

  194. scripture, various books that make up

  195. the canonized Bible that you have, that

  196. this this story, this true story ends

  197. with a feast. It's not surprising to me

  198. that it that it does because we've been

  199. talking about being encouraged around

  200. tables throughout the whole thing. Now,

  201. at the marriage feast of the lamb, all

  202. of you Marthas out there, um Martha and

  203. Mary, all you Marthas out there, all you

  204. uh like planners, all you hosts, all you

  205. party planners, all people that love

  206. putting together the event, um you're

  207. going to have nothing to do with this

  208. one, okay? So, it might drive you kind

  209. of crazy, but Jesus is in charge of this

  210. feast. He is the one that is doing the

  211. cooking. He is the one that is doing the

  212. hosting. He is the one who is doing the

  213. entertaining. It says that he will sing

  214. over us at this feast. It's all about G.

  215. He's even providing the clothing for us

  216. like like he's got a dress code and he

  217. gives us what we're going to wear to

  218. this feast. And of course, it's the the

  219. fine white linen which is the the

  220. uniform of a priest. And since nothing

  221. that is written in Revelation is not

  222. echoed elsewhere in scripture, this

  223. Revelation chapter 19 passage is an echo

    Revelation 19 chapter mention

  224. of Ephesians chapter 5, but also the

    Ephesians 5 chapter mention

  225. great Psalm of David, Psalm 23. Psalm

    Psalms 23:4

  226. 23:4, I'm going to be reading out of the

  227. King James on this one. Says, "Yay,

  228. though I walk through the valley of the

  229. shadow of death, I will fear no evil."

  230. Why will I fear no evil? Because I'm

  231. awesome. Because I'm scary. Because I'm

  232. tough. Cuz cuz I'm the man. Nothing's

  233. going to mess with me. No. Why? Why will

  234. I fear no evil? Because my good shepherd

  235. Jesus Christ is with me. It says, "Thy

  236. rod and thy staff, they comfort me." Now

  237. get this, verse five. Thou preparest a

  238. table before me in the presence of mine

  239. enemies. Thou anointest my head with

  240. oil. My cup runth over. Surely goodness

  241. and mercy shall follow me all the days

  242. of my life as I dwell in the house of

  243. the Lord forever. So, here we are. We're

  244. in Revelation 19 and we're eating a meal

  245. with our our global faith family. People

  246. from every tribe and every nation and

  247. every tongue, every nationality will be

  248. represented at this this wedding feast.

  249. And we're sitting there, we're

  250. celebrating what Jesus has done for us,

  251. but we're also celebrating

  252. in the presence of our enemies.

  253. This meal is taken in literal defiance

  254. of the beasts, in literal defiance of

  255. the demons, in literal defiance of Satan

  256. himself. See, Revelation 19 is the

  257. ultimate meal. It's the it's the end

  258. meal. It's the the the wedding feast.

  259. with Jesus. But we are commanded to have

  260. little meals along the way, little

  261. feasts along the way where we celebrate

  262. the goodness of God in the presence of

  263. our enemies. And I'm not just talking

  264. about the Lord's supper that we do

  265. quarterly here at Sawers Creek Baptist

  266. Church. I'm not just talking about our

  267. annual Thanksgiving meal where we get

  268. together as a faith family and just eat

  269. and celebrate. I'm not talking about

  270. just those things. This is also like

  271. inviting people to your house for a

  272. cookout. inviting your church family out

  273. to eat somewhere at a at a restaurant.

  274. These these little meals are eaten as we

  275. celebrate God's presence in our lives,

  276. but they're eaten in defiance of our

  277. enemies. Now, when we get too busy to

  278. participate in these meals with our

  279. friends and with our family and with our

  280. our church, then we are missing out on

  281. an opportunity to set in defiance of all

  282. the things that the enemy is trying to

  283. do to you and your family. So, our

  284. enemies, they're not gone. The beasts at

  285. even up until this point, the beasts are

  286. still there. They're still actively

  287. attacking the church. And we still have

  288. our flesh. We still have that temptation

  289. to sin. We're under attack. But we get

  290. to set in the presence of Jesus. We get

  291. to set in the presence of our our faith

  292. family. And those same enemies, they

  293. can't touch us when we gather together

  294. and celebrate God.

  295. >> That's why I encourage people to come to

  296. church and worship. This is your your

  297. your shield. This is the thing that gets

  298. you through next week. This is what you

  299. do. You come together. You celebrate.

  300. You worship God and he puts a just this

  301. heavenly force field around you that

  302. that keeps you safe in the presence of

  303. your enemies because as Eugene Peterson

  304. puts it, the Lord presides over the meal

  305. as our host.

  306. The enemy is powerless to harm you when

  307. the good shepherd is there. See, Psalm

  308. 23, it's a promise that that our good

  309. shepherd, that Jesus himself will walk

  310. with us and protect us as we journey

  311. through the valley of the shadow of

  312. death. And he will keep his rod and his

  313. staff nearby to protect us. And it says

  314. that goodness and mercy will be handed

  315. out to us in abundance. And then in

  316. Revelation 19, we come to the end of

  317. that journey. And it's a celebration of

  318. all the things that the good shepherd

  319. that Jesus has done on that journey to

  320. get us to the green pastures and the

  321. still waters. So we have this this feast

  322. and then that feast leads into chapter

  323. 20 where we start to look at the

  324. millennial reign of Jesus. So I'm going

  325. to read the first three verses there.

  326. Chapter 20.

  327. Then I saw an angel coming down from

  328. heaven holding the key to the abyss and

  329. a great chain in his hand. He seized the

  330. dragon, the ancient serpent, who is the

  331. devil and Satan. He bound him for a

  332. thousand years and he threw him into the

  333. abyss. He closed it. He put a seal on it

  334. so that he would no longer deceive the

  335. nations until the thousand years were

  336. completed. And after that, he must be

  337. released for a short time, but then he's

  338. going to get put to sleep. Now, the red

  339. dragon is bound for 1,000 years. I told

  340. you it's not much of a battle. The angel

  341. shows up. He's got a chain. Throws him

  342. into the abyss. That's it, right? Not

  343. not much of a a fight scene there. But

  344. but how did we how did we get there? How

  345. how did the enemy truly get defeated?

  346. Well, think about it this way. In a

  347. typical church, you will see pictures of

  348. Jesus on the wall, and it'll probably be

  349. one of two pictures. You will either see

  350. sweet little baby Jesus in the manger or

  351. you will see that blonde feather-haired

  352. like Channing Tatum stunt double of

  353. Jesus on the wall with his blue eyes

  354. shining through. Like those are the two

  355. typical pictures you'll see in

  356. somebody's house or at a church. But let

  357. me give you a third picture of Jesus.

  358. This is Jesus on the white horse. This

  359. is King Jesus. Look at this. Revelation

    Revelation 19:1

  360. 19:1.

  361. Then I saw heaven opened, and there was

  362. a white horse. Its rider is called

  363. faithful and true, and with justice he

  364. judges and makes war. His eyes were like

  365. a fiery flame, and many crowns were on

  366. his head. He had a name written that no

  367. one knows except himself. He wore a robe

  368. that was dipped in blood. By the way,

  369. this is Jesus blood. There hasn't been a

  370. battle yet, okay? This is his own blood

  371. on his robe. And his name is called the

  372. word of God. The armies that were with

  373. him in heaven followed him on white

  374. horses. White horses are victory horses.

  375. These are the horses you ride after the

  376. battle has been fought and you have been

  377. victorious. But not here because Jesus

  378. knows he's getting ready to win. So he's

  379. like, "Guys, go ahead and get the the

  380. white horses out because I know we

  381. haven't fought yet, but guess what?

  382. We're going to win. So, we might as well

  383. already be riding the white horses as we

  384. go into battle. And he's wearing pure

  385. white linen, priest robes instead of

  386. armor. And a sharp sword came out of his

  387. mouth so that he might strike the

  388. nations with it. He will ru rule them

  389. with an iron rod. He will also trample

  390. the wine press of the fierce anger of

  391. God the Almighty. And he has a name

  392. written on his robe and on his thigh,

  393. King of Kings and Lord of Lords.

  394. That's a picture of Jesus. That is King

  395. Jesus.

  396. Now, at this point, King Jesus has given

  397. people all the time in the world to get

  398. saved. He has kept his offer of

  399. salvation on the table for every single

  400. human to accept his grace and his love

  401. and his mercy. But at this point, the

  402. cup of God's wrath has been completely

  403. full. And it is now time for Jesus to

  404. come as a judge.

  405. Grace and mercy have given way to a

  406. sword of judgment. And the battle is

  407. over in an instant. if you keep reading.

  408. And now there there's some division over

  409. this passage. And I I'll be honest with

  410. you, there's there's multiple ways that

  411. good Christian, faithful Christians have

  412. interpreted the millennial reign of

  413. Jesus throughout all of human history.

  414. And I'm just going to tell you, feel

  415. free to land in whatever camp the Holy

  416. Spirit takes you to because there is no

  417. clear consensus as to when the enemy was

  418. actually bound and thrown into the

  419. abyss. So wherever you land, that is

  420. perfectly fine. I go back and forth on

  421. what I think as well. But that said,

  422. everyone in the Christian church, if

  423. they are being faithful to scripture,

  424. they believe this to be true. They

  425. believe that Jesus wins. They believe

  426. that we get to join him in that victory.

  427. They believe that the dragon loses, that

  428. the dragon is bound, and the dragon is

  429. ultimately killed and defeated. And then

  430. we believe that creator God makes all

  431. things new, a new heaven and a new

  432. earth. So that's universally accepted.

  433. Whether or not you believe the

  434. millennial reigns already started or

  435. it's in the future, those things have

  436. already been accepted. And so there is a

  437. very practical and relevant application

  438. of this passage to the way that you live

  439. your life. So let's talk about this

  440. thing called the kingdom power. The

  441. kingdom power. We're going to be looking

  442. at Mark chapter 1 for this. So in the

    Mark 1 chapter mention

  443. Lord's prayer, we are taught to pray,

  444. "Thy kingdom come, thy will be done on

  445. earth as it is in heaven." And when

  446. Jesus taught us to pray that prayer, he

  447. didn't say that this was some future

  448. hope for us. No, he says in the moments

  449. that you need it the most, you can pray

  450. that God's will will be done on earth

  451. the same way that he it is in heaven. In

  452. other words, you can ask the kingdom

  453. power of God to come to earth to help

  454. you in your witness, to help you in your

  455. ministry, to help you in your life. So

  456. then Jesus shows off this kingdom power.

  457. He he talks about he he performs

  458. miracles. He heals people. He brings

  459. people back from the dead. He casts out

  460. demons. He controls the the storms, the

  461. wind, and the waves. So, in Mark chapter

    Mark 1 chapter mention

  462. 1, you have this uh man named John the

  463. Baptist, and he's preparing the way for

  464. Jesus. And so, he's out there, and he's

  465. preaching, and he's talking about how

  466. the kingdom power is coming. And then

  467. when Jesus is born and gets near John,

  468. John starts to preach how the kingdom of

  469. power is at hand. And then they arrest

  470. John and they put him in prison. But

  471. Jesus comes behind him. And Jesus starts

  472. preaching. And Jesus says, "The kingdom

  473. power is here. The kingdom of God has

  474. come to earth. So Jesus has taken his

  475. throne, but he has not yet returned to

  476. take his people home. So we live in this

  477. thing called the the the right now, but

  478. the not yet. So there's going to be a

  479. little bit of tension in our lives. Yes,

  480. Jesus is on his throne. And yes, we have

  481. kingdom power, but it doesn't always

  482. work. Sometimes we fail at what we're

  483. called to do. The disciples had the same

  484. problem. They'd run into demons. They

  485. couldn't cast out. They'd go back to

  486. Jesus. They're like, "Why can't we cast

  487. this one out?" And he's like, "Well,

  488. this one you have to fast and pray this

  489. way." And so, there's going to be

  490. limitations from from time to time in

  491. what we are able to do. But that doesn't

  492. change the fact that the kingdom power

  493. is ours. Our enemy is bound. So, in Mark

    Mark 1 chapter mention

  494. chapter 1, Jesus is is casting out

  495. demons. And it's not like The Exorcist

  496. movie. There's not this thing where they

  497. have to go back and forth for 20 minutes

  498. and try to figure out how to get the the

  499. demon out of the girl. That's not at all

  500. how the Bible talks about um demon

  501. possession. Like when Jesus rolls up, he

  502. asks the demon what his name is. It

  503. tells him his name and then he cast out

  504. the demon. There's no back and forth.

  505. There's no fight. So in Mark chapter 1,

    Mark 1 chapter mention

  506. Jesus comes up and he he starts to cast

  507. out a demon. And in verse 23,

  508. we read that just then a man with an

  509. unclean spirit was in the synagogue and

  510. he cried out, "What do you have to do

  511. with us, Jesus of Nazareth? Have you

  512. come to destroy us? I know who you are,

  513. the Holy One of God." See, the demons

  514. know what's up. They know the end of the

  515. story, too. They They're like, "We know

  516. we're going to lose. When Jesus shows

  517. up, it's over. He He's going to destroy

  518. us." They they know exactly what Jesus

  519. is there to do, and they're like, "We

  520. knew this day was coming." is it

  521. actually here? And Jesus is like, "Not

  522. quite yet. Um, but but I'm going to cast

  523. you out, but it's not quite yet till I

  524. go to the cross and then defeat the

  525. grave." And then in Mark chapter 1 and

    Mark 1 chapter mention

  526. chapter 2, the Pharisees get really

  527. disoriented by this teaching of Jesus

  528. because these guys had all the power.

  529. They were controlling their communities.

  530. They were getting rich off of their

  531. religious activities. And Jesus comes

  532. and turns all that stuff upside down.

  533. So, they get really upset with him.

  534. They're not liking what he's teaching.

  535. And so they start a rumor that Jesus is

  536. casting out demons in the power of a

  537. demon. So in Mark chapter 3, Jesus

    Mark 3 chapter mention

  538. speaks these words in verse 23.

  539. So he summoned them and he spoke to the

  540. Pharisees in parables. He says, "How can

  541. Satan drive out Satan?" Like duh. How

  542. can Satan drive out Satan? If a kingdom

  543. is divided against itself, that kingdom

  544. cannot stand. If a house is divided

  545. against itself, that house cannot stand.

  546. And if Satan opposes himself and is

  547. divided, he cannot stand, but is

  548. finished. But no one can enter a strong

  549. man's house, get this, and plunder his

  550. possessions unless he first ties up the

  551. strong man. Sound familiar? Revelation

    Revelation 19:20

  552. 19:20. He ties up the strong man, then

  553. then he can plunder the house. So the

  554. disciples themselves would have been

  555. powerless in the face of a great enemy

  556. like the red dragon. But they weren't

  557. powerless because the kingdom power of

  558. God was already there with them in the

  559. form of Jesus. So Jesus is like, I'm not

  560. casting out demons in the power of a

  561. demon because that makes absolutely no

  562. sense. Why would Satan attack himself?

  563. Why would the devil ever let that

  564. happen? He says, "I'm casting out demons

  565. because I have the power to bind the

  566. strong man. And by the way, this guy's

  567. soul belongs to me. So demon, get out of

  568. him because I'm taking back his soul."

  569. Isn't it encouraging to know that your

  570. soul is something that Jesus deems worth

  571. fighting for?

  572. >> Isn't it encouraging to know that Jesus

  573. believes that your soul is such a

  574. treasure that he'd be willing to go to

  575. the cross and die for you so that he

  576. could purchase your soul back from your

  577. enemy?

  578. Amen. It is. See, this next part, it's

  579. going to sound a little bit like I'm a

  580. premillennial, okay? But I'm not. I'm

  581. really undecided. I don't There's a lot

  582. of stuff to go through here, and I'm

  583. just kind of undecided with that. But I

  584. will say this, the last time that you

  585. see the dragon is in Revelation 13. And

  586. remember, everything in Revelation, it's

  587. not on a timeline. It doesn't happen

  588. linearly. These things happen in

  589. different epics and periods. And so in

  590. Revelation 13, we see the red dragon and

  591. he has just failed to devour baby Jesus

  592. on Christmas morning. He has failed in

  593. his mission to destroy Jesus at his

  594. birth. And so he goes to the abyss. He

  595. goes to the shore and he calls up two

  596. beasts to help him in his mission to try

  597. to destroy the church that Jesus was

  598. establishing. And that is the last time

  599. that we see the red dragon. We see the

  600. beasts from time to time. They keep

  601. popping up throughout human history. But

  602. we never see the red dragon again.

  603. But we do

  604. see his influence.

  605. We we do we see the earth beast

  606. controlling culture and governments. We

  607. see the the water beast controlling uh

  608. false prophets and false religions. But

  609. there's really no sign of the dragon

  610. aside from that lasting influence. So,

  611. so perhaps when Jesus rose from the dead

  612. after his death on the cross, perhaps

  613. that's when the millennial reign of

  614. Christ actually started. Perhaps that's

  615. when Jesus took the dragon and threw him

  616. into the abyss. And maybe the dragon has

  617. been running things on this earth like a

  618. mafia boss in prison, giving orders to

  619. his lieutenants from his prison cell.

  620. Who knows? I don't. Okay, I don't. I'm

  621. admitting that. But if we keep the main

  622. thing, the main thing, which is our goal

  623. throughout Revelation, if we keep the

  624. main thing, the main thing, as

  625. Alistister Beg says, then Jesus victory

  626. on the cross gave us the ability to

  627. plunder what used to belong to the

  628. strong man. So I don't know how it all

  629. works, but I do know this. Jesus death

  630. on the cross. Jesus resurrection from

  631. the dead gives us the kingdom power that

  632. we need to plunder what used to belong

  633. to the strong man. And how do I know

  634. that? Because I've read what Jesus has

  635. to say to his church.

  636. >> And he says that we have kingdom power

  637. to take back what used to belong to the

  638. devil. What is some of the stuff we get

  639. to take back? Well, number one, we get

  640. to take back people's souls. Now again,

  641. it's not me that that wins anybody to

  642. Jesus. I just introduce introduce them

  643. to Jesus, the Holy Spirit, and Jesus.

  644. They do all the saving work. It's not

  645. it's not about me. It's or my

  646. presentation. It's simply about my

  647. availability. I tell people about Jesus.

  648. Jesus saved their souls. Now, do you

  649. understand like right now, Christianity

  650. is spreading at an incredible rate. In

  651. fact, Pew Research just said that the

  652. 21st century will be less secular than

  653. the 20th century. Why? Because

  654. Christianity is spreading. Kingdom power

  655. is working. Christians are sharing their

  656. faith all over the globe. And people are

  657. becoming followers of Christ. In fact,

  658. there are more disengaged people than

  659. disinterested people now according to

  660. the same research. There's a big

  661. difference there. Disinterested people,

  662. they don't want to hear what you have to

  663. say. disengaged people. They're ready

  664. and willing to listen. They want to know

  665. what Jesus has to say, but no one is

  666. engaging them. That's why we see in all

  667. these other countries, we starting to

  668. see Christianity flourish and spread.

  669. But right here in the Bible belt, it's

  670. getting a little bit rusty. Why? Because

  671. we're not engaging the culture as much

  672. as we used to. So, friends, we have to

  673. engage. We have to go into the the

  674. schools. We have to go to our ball

  675. games. We have to go to our places of

  676. employment, even our own homes, and talk

  677. about the good news of Jesus because

  678. people want to hear. Hey, we get to take

  679. back broken relationships.

  680. We get to take back broken

  681. relationships. Why? Because now we can

  682. seek forgiveness for our own sin. If you

  683. confess your sin, he's faithful and just

  684. to forgive you of your sin and cleanse

  685. you of all unrighteousness. So you can

  686. confess your own sin but you can also go

  687. to your brother and sister in Christ or

  688. you can go to your family member or you

  689. can go to your friend and say look I I

  690. messed up. You can seek their

  691. forgiveness as well. Forgiveness is

  692. available in a vertical way and also a

  693. horizontal way. Why? Because Jesus is

  694. king and he's given us the kingdom power

  695. to reconcile broken relationships. We

  696. get to take those things back. We get to

  697. take back our worship. We get to sing

  698. and preach and pray and celebrate

  699. baptisms because Jesus is worthy.

  700. For before Jesus came to earth, before

  701. he died on the cross and rose from the

  702. dead, the the people of God were

  703. constantly being attacked and they they

  704. were worried. They were wondering. Now

  705. they they worshiped but their worship

  706. would wayne because their enemies would

  707. seem overwhelming and they would turn

  708. from Jesus or they would turn from God.

  709. And so it was a much difficult much more

  710. difficult way of life back then than it

  711. is for us today on this side of the

  712. cross. Because on this side of the cross

  713. we get to look at Jesus victory and we

  714. get to say he wins in the end. So

  715. therefore he is worthy of my praise.

  716. We get to take back justice and other

  717. things that matter to God.

  718. We get to fight for the thing that our

  719. King of Kings cares about. We are

  720. citizens of the kingdom of God,

  721. empowered by the kingdom of God. And so

  722. whatever matters to Jesus should matter

  723. to us. And now we have the ability to

  724. fight for those things in the way that

  725. we vote, in the way that we act, in the

  726. way that we live as citizens in our

  727. local governments. We get to to fight

  728. for justice and unity and peace. all the

  729. things that Jesus cares about.

  730. And we get to finally take back the

  731. truth. We get to take back the truth.

  732. You don't have to believe what the enemy

  733. says about you anymore. You don't have

  734. to come into an agreement with the

  735. dragon anymore because you know exactly

  736. what Jesus says about you. You know

  737. exactly what he did for you. You know

  738. exactly how he has empowered you. You

  739. know what it's like to be a kingdom and

  740. the the a citizen in the kingdom of God.

  741. And so when the enemy comes and whispers

  742. in your ear that you are less than, that

  743. you are not worthy, that you can't serve

  744. on this in this ministry or whatever,

  745. you don't have to listen to those things

  746. anymore because you now have the ability

  747. to take back the truth. And it's all

  748. been written down for you.

  749. >> Let me give you a little bit of bottom

  750. line here. We could go on and on about

  751. those things that we get to take back

  752. from the strong man. But the bottom line

  753. is this. Jesus says to Peter in Matthew

    Matthew 16:18

  754. chapter 16 verse 18.

  755. He says, "I will build my church and the

  756. gates of hell will not prevail against

  757. it." Now, some people read this and they

  758. think that we're trying to break out of

  759. hell, kick the gates down and get to

  760. heaven. That's not the intent of Jesus

  761. teaching here. He says the gates of hell

  762. will not prepare prep prevail against

  763. it. Well, what what that means is that

  764. the devil has placed people behind a

  765. gate

  766. and now because of the kingdom power

  767. that we have, we are able to kick in

  768. those gates. Gates were meant to keep

  769. people out. To keep us out, to keep us

  770. out of the schools, to keep us out of

  771. the neighborhoods, to keep us out of the

  772. townships, to keep us out of the

  773. government, to keep us out of the

  774. cities, to keep us out of your house.

  775. Those gates were designed to hold you

  776. back from all the good things that Jesus

  777. has for you. But as the church of Jesus

  778. Christ, we now have the ability to kick

  779. in those gates and to go into those

  780. contexts with the good news about what

  781. Jesus has done for us. We get to help

  782. people be freed from their sin to allow

  783. them to be to to have those chains

  784. broken so they can have life.

  785. So question, how are you going to use

  786. your kingdom power this week even?

  787. How are you going to use the kingdom

  788. power that Jesus has given you? Because

  789. we know now that the strong man can't

  790. stop us. either he's already bound in

  791. Hades or maybe he'll be bound in the

  792. future. But we know according to Jesus

  793. teaching, the strong man cannot stop us

  794. from doing what Jesus called us to do.

  795. So with that in mind, what gates are you

  796. going to kick down this week?

  797. >> What people are you going to go engage?

  798. How you going to get the gospel into the

  799. places it needs to
