  1. We all have performance anxiety, whether it's just one person

  2. we want to impress, or we want to do a

  3. good job at this or make sure everything's done. I

  4. know the principles applied. What I'm coming to now is

  5. if I fix my intention. You heard me preach, why

  6. am I anxious? Right? You heard that? One? That really

  7. is my secret stash. That was one time where I

  8. just brought the church something that I wrote down for myself.

  9. I taught it to staff, but I wrote it for me.

  10. I sat down and thought, like, what are the things

  11. that make me anxious? And one of them that I

  12. didn't develop in the talk was intention, And I realized

  13. that every time that I felt overly anxious, not appropriately anxious.

  14. You know, the difference is like one is like I

  15. feel the weight of this because it's weighty, yeah, and

  16. it steadies me. I feel the weight of this.

  17. And it's crippling me.

  18. One is necessary and the other one is prohibited. And

  19. the difference for me is when I'm going out there

  20. with a mindset, there's always going to be a certain

  21. element of pressure to it, but it becomes unbearable when

  22. I'm going out to meet and expectation that others have

  23. of me, or that I perceive others have of me.

  24. When I'm going out with more of a mindset to

  25. connect with people and to be a vessel for what

  26. God poured into me. If I see myself as the vessel,

  27. I'm okay. If I see myself as the oil, I'm

  28. in trouble. And even in practical ways of thinking about it,

  29. if I let myself. Have you ever noticed that when

  30. I preach, Say, maybe if I go Saturday night, it's

  31. different than Sunday morning, it's different than eleven thirtyeth another,

  32. And even like when I come up after the worship moment,

  33. maybe one time I just preach. Maybe one time I

  34. sing an old song, time I sing a different old song.

  35. Maybe all of that is an effort to be in

  36. that moment. Because if I'm in that moment, I can't worry.

  37. If I'm in that moment, I can't regret. Like being

  38. so present in that moment and totally focused on what

  39. it is that God gave me for the people, I

  40. don't have room for self consciousness anymore. Like try it,

  41. Like try totally throwing yourself into the moment, whether that's

  42. you're preparing for something or you're in a performance moment

  43. where you're having to actually execute throw yourself so into

  44. the moment that it's not like, what are they thinking

  45. about me right now? Or what about this next thing

  46. I have? Or whatever? And see if that doesn't make

  47. the anxiety like just fall off a little bit, because

  48. you won't have room for it if you're totally focused

  49. on the moment. If I'm answering your question right now

  50. and my total sole focus is to help you and

  51. answer it and give you something from my heart, like

  52. I am right now, like I'm just totally flowing with

  53. you in this moment and saying the next thing, I

  54. don't have room to think like.

  55. Are they born?

  56. Oh my god, they're they disappointed? They've been looking forward

  57. to this. What if I'm not helping them? What if

  58. I tell them the wrong thing? I don't have time

  59. for those voices because I'm focused. So it really requires

  60. just this immersive ability to be totally in the moment.

  61. And there's practical ways you can get there. There's practical

  62. ways you can breathe, there's practical ways that you can smile,

  63. there's practical ways you can stop, there's practical ways you

  64. can pause. But I think if you don't have the

  65. right intention going in and you want to impress people,

  66. you'll always feel pressure. If your goal is to be impressive,

  67. you're always going to feel like a performer, and it's

  68. always going to feel like pressure. I believe this what

  69. I'm telling you right now, but I can't always get there.

  70. Sometimes I get stuck in all that little is this

  71. the better sermon? Is this better than the last time?

  72. And little things get in my head too, like they mean, well,

  73. but the campus faster we late. I met a couple

  74. from Hawaii. They flew in just to be in church today.

  75. Oh my god, why did.

  76. You do that? Eleven thirty one? I'm tired? Now you

  77. have to come to this one. Yeah, I really do

  78. think that. It's like I don't want to let them down.

  79. They came from Hawaii. Why did you come from Hawaii.

  80. To show it?

  81. Anyway?

  82. What's wrong with you? That's not my fault. Put that

  83. on me. But getting in the different gear man, like

  84. you know God called me to do this. I don't know,

  85. a lot of it is a lot of it is

  86. ego and narcissism. It's not wanting to serve God. It's

  87. wanting people to think or something. A lot of it is,

  88. however you want to play it like, I just want

  89. to do my best for the Lord. Yeah, that part

  90. is manageable. It's the other crap that I allowed to accrue,

  91. like how are people taking this and that? Like that's

  92. what takes it over the edge. I'm also getting more

  93. comfortable admitting what part of it is ego versus what

  94. part of it is.

  95. Healthy. Yeah, and as long as.

  96. You put yourself on the edge and try to be

  97. led by God, it's going to be a more healthy

  98. feeling pressure and it won't be audience based in your life. Hey,
