  1. The Bible says that when Joseph was seventeen years old,

  2. he had a dream, and his brothers hated him all

  3. the more for it. That phrase all the more lets

  4. me know that Joseph's brothers already didn't like him, And

  5. we can argue if we want to, about whether Joseph

  6. was wise to share with his brothers the content of

  7. his dream. There is such a thing as talking too much,

  8. posting too much. There is such a thing as sharing

  9. too much. There is such a thing as thinking that

  10. everybody else wants to hear what God has put on

  11. your heart. But one thing that we can conclude from

  12. the text, even from a biological perspective.

  13. Is that Joseph was different.

  14. And one thing I've noticed about having a dream is

  15. that a dream.

  16. Makes you different.

  17. Joseph was different from his brothers, not only in his aspirations,

  18. but he was from a different mother. They shared the

  19. same father, Jacob, and if I listed their names, you

  20. might recognize a few of them. They were the patriarchs

  21. of the tribes of Israel. But Joseph didn't come through

  22. the same mom that his brothers came through. He was

  23. the son of Rachel, the pretty one that his dad

  24. really liked and when Joseph saw that Rachel his favorite wife, Holley,

  25. you're my favorite wife, by the way, I just want

  26. to put that in this message.

  27. Had given him a son.

  28. He liked him, he liked him extra special, and he

  29. treated him special, and he felt differently about Joseph.

  30. Than the other boys. To the point.

  31. I don't know if you've if you've read the story lately,

  32. but you remember he bought him a Gucci coat and

  33. and Joseph's always wearing it around all the time. He's like,

  34. you like my coat, and his brothers are like, we

  35. hate your coat.

  36. Like you like my coat? You like my coat?

  37. You know, They're like, we hate we we hate you.

  38. We hate you because you're different.

  39. Okay, Now, I have a teenage son right now, and

  40. one of the things that I'm trying to work out

  41. with him in real time is that.

  42. People accept what is the same, but.

  43. They eventually respect what is different. People eventually come around

  44. and respect what stands out.

  45. But what happens to most of us is that.

  46. The moment we start to realize the differences between us

  47. and other people, we downplay our distinctives in order to

  48. fit in and conform with culture.

  49. One thing I'm proud about when I read about.

  50. Joseph, And I know it's weird to say that I'm

  51. proud of Joseph like he cares, but I'm proud that

  52. he had the courage to wear his coat anyway, you

  53. know what I mean.

  54. It may have been.

  55. Unwise, but I'm proud of him that.

  56. He was not afraid to show up in the.

  57. Room looking different because he was clothed with the fabric

  58. of the favor of his father. And I wonder, are

  59. you courageous enough to wear your coat, because a lot

  60. of times, what I've found is that God will begin

  61. to show you things about yourself, about your life, about

  62. your calling, about your direction, about what He's put inside

  63. of you, about the gifts He's given you. But someone will,

  64. someone will actually beat the distinctive out of you.

  65. If you don't know clearly.

  66. Enough that I have a calling from God, who is

  67. greater than people, and if he is for me, who

  68. can be against me? Touch somebody next to you and say,

  69. I'm gonna wear my coat.

  70. Even if people criticize me for it.

  71. I'm not ashamed to walk in the love and the

  72. favor of God. Oh we need some Christians who don't

  73. check this code at the door of culture, who are

  74. unashamed to be optimistic about the future because you know

  75. God is already there, if He is the author and

  76. the finisher of your faith.

  77. You see what I'm saying. A dream will make you.

  78. Different, and it takes courage to be different. It takes

  79. courage to speak different. If you get a hold of

  80. a dream, or better said, if a dream gets hold

  81. of you from the throne.

  82. Of God, it'll make.

  83. You walk different, talk different, think different, eat different, drink different,

  84. party different, text different.

  85. It'll make you different. Dream will make you different.

  86. And I'm glad that Joseph had the courage to be different,

  87. and I wonder, dew we have the courage to be different.

  88. The weird thing.

  89. About our church is that a lot of times people

  90. will be attracted to our church because it's different, and

  91. then when they get to the church, they start trying

  92. to tell us how we need to make it like

  93. the church that they left to come to, the church

  94. that was different. I don't want to say amen to

  95. the preacher today. It's the truest thing, Like you're attracted

  96. to something because it's different, and they even said it's

  97. a marriage that before marriage, opposite's attracted and then opposites attacked.

  98. Because you're attracted to what's different, you're drawn to what's different,

  99. not at first, at.

  100. First you fear it.

  101. That's why they had to take the Old Town Road

  102. off of the Billboard charts on country music because it

  103. was too different. They couldn't find a category for it.

  104. And they said, it's not country enough, but it's not

  105. rap enough, and we don't know what it is.

  106. It's different. That's why they crucified Jesus. You know, you

  107. don't have many preachers.

  108. They can put a little Nasacs and Jesus in the

  109. same paragraph. But he was so different, we don't know

  110. what to do with him. He's grace and truth. He's different.

  111. Somebody shot him different. And I don't mean different in style.

  112. I mean different in substance.

  113. I don't mean.

  114. Different just for the sake of difference, because that's frankly

  115. kind of annoying.

  116. And there's always a temptation. You know, I've.

  117. Noticed that some people just want to be different, just

  118. to be different. But there's nothing different about being different.

  119. To be different, there's.

  120. Something about being different because you have a different set

  121. of values and a different dream. See, I don't just

  122. dream of making it through the day. I don't just

  123. dream of surviving my life. I don't just dream. When

  124. you get a dream, it'll make you different. You'll start sacrificing,

  125. and people will think you're crazy because of what you sacrifice.

  126. Even if you go on a diet because you have

  127. a dream to lose twenty pounds, the first thing that everybody.

  128. Around you is gonna say is you're not fine anymore.

  129. He used to meet some much fine. You used to

  130. just eat all the time. When are you ain't chain?

  131. Why are you gonna now?

  132. Don't let the fact that they don't have the discipline

  133. to eat something different cause you to give up on

  134. a goal that you set that's real for your life.

  135. And if it's true with the diet, it's much more

  136. true with destiny.

  137. I wonder have you been dumbing down yourself because to

  138. be different is too painful, and if you're not careful,

  139. you will be conformed to the patterns of this world

  140. rather than being transformed by the renewing of your mind.

  141. Christians are supposed.

  142. To see different, think different, understand different.

  143. It's a different perspective.
