  1. And faith when you get to the essence of it

  2. is an expectation, a confident assurance that a negative circumstance

  3. still holds the potential to produce great purpose.

  4. In my life. Come on, shout on that. I'm gonna

  5. teach you all where to shout.

  6. Y'all have been coming to church too many years to

  7. not know where the shouting part is.

  8. That's the shouting part.

  9. Means I can walk into something dark and light it

  10. up because of my faith, because the light of the

  11. world lives in me. You say Jesus is the light

  12. of the world. Absolutely he is, but guess where he lives.

  13. It's an expectation.

  14. Faith is an expectation to know that, even if the

  15. sequence of things doesn't make sense in my life, that God,

  16. who lives outside of time because he is eternal, knows

  17. the end from the beginning. So then I have to

  18. trust him with element op if he is Z and

  19. A and if A.

  20. Is related to Z, because he is.

  21. Alpha and omega beginning in the end, first in the last.

  22. My faith is an expectation that before the movie even starts,

  23. he's already shot.

  24. The closing scene.

  25. It helps me to know today that I don't have

  26. to live in suspense as to whether or not I

  27. will see the goodness of the Lord in the land

  28. of the living. Because faith is an expectation. Faith enables

  29. me to wake up in the morning knowing that surely

  30. goodness and mercy will follow.

  31. Me all the days of my life.

  32. And since this is one of the days of my life,

  33. Goodness and mercy are my bodyguards, one on my right

  34. and one on my left. You can't see them there invisible,

  35. but if you look real close, I've got security. Tell

  36. somebody say, I got security, goodness and mercy.

  37. The favor of the Lord is the.

  38. Filter through which I view the fights of my life,

  39. knowing this that he who began a good work in

  40. me will be faithful to complete it.

  41. Don't know when, don't know how, not even sure what

  42. he's doing yet. But my faith gives me an.

  43. Expectation now unto him who is able to do in

  44. measure more than we asked or imagine, according to His

  45. power that works mightily in us, not according to my preference,

  46. not according to my understanding or the finite finite. You know, small, little,

  47. puny way that I tend to come at situations. But

  48. my faith is an expectation, and this expectation is contagious.

  49. Talk about talk about expectations. Man John the Baptist who

  50. we just read about, he was he was really, really

  51. familiar with the pressure of high expectations because he was

  52. a miraculous, miraculously born baby, and an angel prophesied his birth,

  53. and in fact, when his mother, Elizabeth got pregnant, you know,

  54. his father Zachariah was so shocked by it that he

  55. told the angel it couldn't happen because they were kind

  56. of old, and so his expectation. You know, with age,

  57. one thing can happen. With age, that's good. You can

  58. get experience, but it can diminish expectation.

  59. Do you know what I mean by that?

  60. I'm looking for over forty because I'm not there yet.

  61. I'm familiar with this. But John was born.

  62. Before he was born, you have to understand that he

  63. was the voice that prepared the way for the Lord

  64. that the entire nation was expecting to deliver them from oppression.

  65. That was their expectation of the Messiah, and they looked

  66. for for hundreds of years in centuries, so that this

  67. generation that was alive at the time the birth of

  68. Christ had heard the stories, the rumors and the rumblings

  69. about the possibility and potential of His coming into the world,

  70. and this expectation from their heart was that He would

  71. then set them free from oppression, whether economic or political,

  72. or deliver them from their their circumstantial containment.

  73. There's an expectation, and.

  74. One thing you got to do when you have an

  75. expectation is make sure that you connect yourself with people

  76. who have a similar expectation. And this is important because

  77. expectation is contagious. Say that out loud. Expectation is contagious.

  78. Those of you watching this message, you didn't get to

  79. be with us. In worship, I had everybody in the

  80. church turn to each other and I had them check

  81. with their neighbor and make sure that their neighbor was

  82. the right neighbor, because I don't want I'm sitting next

  83. to anybody who's not expecting God to speak today, just

  84. gonna play something on their phone, you know, candy Crush

  85. or whatever game is popular now.

  86. I don't play that stuff. I read my Bible in

  87. my free time. I was kidding. I was kidding, read

  88. my Bible, watch YouTube in my free time.

  89. But but I was just having him check you know,

  90. because expectation is contagious.

  91. Here's how contagious it is.

  92. When John the Baptist was still in Elizabeth's womb, an

  93. angel appeared six months after Elizabeth got pregnant with John

  94. the Baptist, to Mary, who was a relative of Elizabeth.

  95. Now you know, Mary, Mary, did you know from Christmas?

  96. She was told that she was going to have a

  97. baby and she hadn't had relations. And it's kind of

  98. hard to believe a revelation that completely contradicts the circumstances

  99. surrounding it. So the first thing that she did when

  100. the angel left was going to the hill country to

  101. see her relative named Elizabeth, because the angel said, she's

  102. also expecting. The best thing you can do when you

  103. are expecting is to get around somebody else who's expecting.

  104. If you get around somebody who's expecting, your expectation will rise.

  105. That's why I come to church, to be honest with you,

  106. because you know what, I could watch it on my phone,

  107. but there's something about being in an atmosphere with people

  108. who are also expected. You know what, if you're watching

  109. this message in your house, next time you watch it,

  110. invite somebody over and you'll drink some coffee together and

  111. get some expectation between the two of you, and get

  112. a Bible, and break out your Bible and stand up

  113. on your feet while I'm preaching.

  114. Even if you're watching in your kitchen.

  115. If you got somebody next to you, grab them right

  116. now and tell them I'm expecting something.

  117. And what I need is somebody who will help me with.

  118. This expectation, because if I don't get around somebody who's

  119. expecting something.

  120. This is so real. This is so real that we've.

  121. Got worship leaders in this church who lead worship and

  122. don't even have a microphone. Because when we're pulling in today, Graham,

  123. who's eleven, said to me, we listened to Heski Walker

  124. on the way to church today, So I had I had,

  125. I had the car bumping on the way in the

  126. parking lot. And then we moved over into Israel Hoten circa.

  127. Two thousand and six, and and then we pulled by

  128. the parking team. And do you know my son said

  129. to me when we pulled by the parking team.

  130. He said, I love that guy. Now this is Graham.

  131. Graham doesn't has never even said he loved me, but

  132. he was like, I love him.

  133. You can tell he's excited. Graham never said I love

  134. Chris Brown. He never said it once ever, But that

  135. parking attendant, Graham said, he does so much for our church.

  136. What could we do for him? But it was a

  137. childlike faith.

  138. And I promise I'm gonna talk about John the Baptist

  139. in a minute. But it's the craziest thing that when

  140. somebody is also expecting, you know, it created an expectation.

  141. Even in the parking lot. My son felt something. What

  142. he felt though he didn't know.

  143. It was the Holy Spirit in that man.

  144. The Holy Spirit in that man who didn't need a microphone.

  145. He had an orange baton, and he was expecting that

  146. when you pull in my parking lot, you're pulling up

  147. on the holy ground. So get ready something good. I'm

  148. expecting something. So when Elizabeth and Mary got together, Mary said, oh,

  149. I just got bumped. Mary said, what do you mean

  150. I just got bumped? This is the new modern steam

  151. fur the translation of Bible.

  152. What do you mean you just got bumped?

  153. She said, When you got here, the baby in your

  154. womb made the baby in my womb leap for joy.

  155. Now you can't see it, it's invisible, but something in

  156. you the Jesus in you, the Christ in you.

  157. I'm gonna calm down in a minute of preach.

  158. But somebody who's got a purpose on the inside. Sounds

  159. like you're expecting the greatest days of your life.

  160. Come on on, every campus.

  161. Let's take nineteen seconds and grace in it. There.

  162. It's all right, it's all right. It's all right to

  163. be expected.

  164. It's all right, it's all right, it's all right to

  165. love Jesus.

  166. It's all right to be enthusiastic. It's all right.

  167. It's all right to lift up your eyes to the

  168. hills and know where your health comes from.

  169. Expectation is contagious. Hey, thank you for watching.
