  1. You are not blessed based on the word of God

  2. that you hear or the word of God that you understand.

  3. You are base blessed, and your life is changed in

  4. accordance with the word of God that you apply, obey,

  5. and act on. That's why you can hear thirteen years

  6. of teaching and still be mean as the serpent in

  7. the garden of Eden. No, that's why you can hear

  8. a lot of teaching about love. But if you don't

  9. make the decision to forgive, the teaching about love will

  10. be snatched up by the birds of the air and

  11. will not take root in your heart. So verse four

  12. becomes really important if we really want to change, if

  13. we really want to get beneath the surface, and you know,

  14. not just have a skin deep spirituality and a skin

  15. deep relationship with God where we can fake it for

  16. a little while, and we create stages to impress people,

  17. and we have armor that we put on to go

  18. out into our job, but we come home and feel

  19. like miserable, miserable people to live with, or we feel

  20. like we don't know how to be in but we

  21. know how to be impressive. And so as long as

  22. people only see us from a distance, they don't really notice.

  23. We're starting to cover our skin and cover our souls

  24. and things that are just leaping.

  25. Out of us at all the wrong time.

  26. Verse four says that Naman went to his master and

  27. told him what the girl from Israel had said. And

  28. this took courage, and it took humility for Naman to

  29. go to his master and show his butt, to show

  30. his vulnerability when he was a man with so many victories.

  31. I just want to stay there for a minute.

  32. Because sometimes I feel like we use prayer as an

  33. opportunity to read God our resume, you know.

  34. And while I think it's.

  35. Great to celebrate all the Goliath that we killed, sometimes

  36. the giants in us are kicking our butt and we

  37. don't say anything about it until it's too late. And

  38. I'm getting bolder every year I passed her, as I

  39. commit more and more to preaching to the part.

  40. Of you that you would just as soon.

  41. Hide and never mention, because I think that's where real

  42. help is found. And Naman went to his master and

  43. told him what the girl from Israel had said. I mean,

  44. this is a servant girl. And Naman is what a

  45. great man, a.

  46. Great man, He's a great man, but he's.

  47. Got these spots that are starting to spread, and if

  48. he doesn't do something soon, there's no telling what might

  49. happen next. And since there are no essential oils for

  50. this particular form of leprosy at this point in antiquity,

  51. Naman has to take the advice of a little girl.

  52. And now we have a great man going to an

  53. enemy nation in Israel because of the advice of a

  54. little girl. Are you willing to obey God even if

  55. he speaks through.

  56. Something that seems smaller than you, because I notice a

  57. lot of us won't.

  58. A lot of teenagers will listen to me preach and

  59. roll their eyes at their parents. And I don't understand

  60. that because I'm not paying for your college or your bracests.

  61. I'm not even buying you ramen noodles.

  62. And sometimes I've noticed that men will listen to me preach,

  63. but their wife knows them better than I do and

  64. could say some things that would actually help them.

  65. It's getting quiet, and even the women left me out

  66. on that one.

  67. It's like that I'm a cancel reflective, y'all, don't help

  68. me with this sermon. It's something about exposure and when

  69. a spot in your life. Everybody says, spot a leprous

  70. spots something that is consuming you that others can't see

  71. when it is exposed by an experience.

  72. That's the second stage.

  73. I wanted to mention this experience because things will happen

  74. in your life and you'll come up upon situations that

  75. will expose something that you would prefer to hide, and

  76. what you do next determines whether you get healed. So

  77. Naman went to his master and told him what the

  78. girl from Israel had said. Verse five says that the

  79. king said, by all means go, I will send a

  80. letter to the King of Israel. So Naman left, taking

  81. with him ten talents of silver six thousand shekels of gold.

  82. That's like seventy five pounds of each. So Naman is going.

  83. To Israel with his resources to attain healing.

  84. He's gonna deal with this like he always deals with things,

  85. because he's a great man.

  86. He's a persistent man, he's a prepared man, he's a

  87. powerful man. These other things that start with the letter

  88. P as well, and the letter that he took to

  89. the King of Israel read with this letter, I am

  90. sending my servant naming to you.

  91. So that you may cure him of his leprosy. There's

  92. all kinds of stuff wrong with that sentence. It's like

  93. the telephone game we used to play when you pass

  94. a message along to somebody and it starts out, we're

  95. having Joe chicken for lunch, and it ends with I'm

  96. dying of cancer, and you pass it down and it

  97. only takes three people. This chain of communication has polluted

  98. the message itself because number one, the servant girl didn't

  99. say the king can heal him.

  100. It said the prophet can.

  101. And sometimes we run to the wrong people because we

  102. have our own ideas about where our help comes from.

  103. Talk to me, and it's not the king that is

  104. going to have the faith to get him healed. It's

  105. the prophet. His name is Elisha.

  106. But the king sends the commander to the king because

  107. you know, this is to me, the most logical way

  108. to get him healed will go straight to the top.

  109. But watch the king's response.

  110. And this is kind of interesting because when the king

  111. gets the letter and Naman shows up with all of

  112. the accumulated wealth that he believes it's gonna take to

  113. get him healed. You know how we have our own

  114. ideas about what it's gonna take to make a change

  115. in our.

  116. Life, and I'm gonna do it. I'm gonna do it.

  117. I'm gonna go back. I'm gonna get my degree. I'm

  118. gonna go back. I'm get my degree. I'm gonna eat.

  119. I'm gonna eat so much kill it's gonna be coming

  120. out of my nose. I'm not eatning gluten again until

  121. twenty twenty four. I'm gonna do hot yoga and cold

  122. yoga and powerlifting.

  123. And I'm gonna do it. I'm gonna do it all

  124. Mariema Bible.

  125. I'm gona delete every social media off my phone. I'm

  126. never going on Facebook again. I'm I got my face

  127. in the book. And he shows up with all of

  128. stuff that he thinks you can need to get healed.

  129. But as soon verse seven, as the King of Israel

  130. read the letter, he tore his robes and said, am

  131. I God, you want me to do what? I got

  132. This friend, y'all. His name is Alex Early. He was

  133. my college roommate and he used to make prank phone

  134. calls in college and they were hilarious. Most of them

  135. were clean. We were Christians, but he had the ability

  136. to push people to their breaking point. He was a

  137. big fan of a guy at the time who did

  138. prank calls named Roy D Mercer, and this guy was

  139. famous for taking people right to the.

  140. Edge, and so we would laugh.

  141. And we still have these phone calls recorded and one day.

  142. I'm going to release them on SoundCloud.

  143. And these phone calls to me just bring me joy

  144. at times in my life, because everybody's reaction was the same.

  145. He make up a million scenarios. You know. He would

  146. use this name, this alias Dwyane McGraw du wai Ne

  147. and put a thing over the e because it's French.

  148. My name is dew Wyane McGraw. And he'd say, my

  149. boy Bobby is throwing up all over the shag carpet

  150. because I came to a grocery store and I bought

  151. bad milk. And they would always say this no matter

  152. what scenario he made up. One time it'd be Bobby's

  153. throwing up on the shag carpet. One time it'd be

  154. I took my trousers to your laundromat and they shrunk

  155. up and now they're coming up around my thighs and

  156. I look like a European and you know, but whatever

  157. scenario he would bring up, their response was.

  158. Generally the same, what do you want me to do

  159. about it? The King? The King is like, you brought

  160. me a leopard. Do you think I'm God? I'm not

  161. a doctor. I'm a king. Have you ever felt like

  162. life brought you something that was above your pay grate

  163. to handle? God?

  164. They're doing that thing again where they sit there and

  165. look at me like they always have it together and

  166. they have all the answers. Because I looked at my

  167. kids the other day and said.

  168. I am not Google. I am not a search engine.

  169. I do not know. Furthermore, I do not care. Get

  170. out of my face.

  171. Sometimes I wake up in the middle of the night

  172. and replay things.

  173. That I've said to my kids and.

  174. Feel so bad that I have to get up and

  175. baptize myself in the baptop.

  176. And get saved again, just as I am without one. Please, Oh,

  177. Lamb of God, what do you want from me? I'm

  178. only a man? And the King says, I know what

  179. this is? This man? Watch can I kill and bring

  180. back to life. He's triggered because he.

  181. Is confronted with a situation that he is unable to transform,

  182. and whenever life presents.

  183. You with something that you were not equipped for. So

  184. you got to be a dad and you didn't have

  185. a dad.

  186. You've got to pay a bill, but God didn't give

  187. you a job. You've got to step into something that

  188. you've never seen before with the faith to believe that

  189. it's already done. And it can be exasperating. To the

  190. point watch this that you allow your past experience to

  191. contaminate your perspective the present moment.

  192. Remember what I said.

  193. The King of Aaron, Benedett the second would often go

  194. and invade Jehoram's land Jahorms, King of Israel. And so

  195. when he gets the letter saying, hey, can you help

  196. my guy name in can you heal my guy?

  197. Naming?

  198. It triggered within him a traumatic memory of the last

  199. time he was attacked, and so he goes off, not

  200. because of the situation that he's experiencing, but because of

  201. past experiences.

  202. Do you ever wonder why you go off?

  203. And it's inexplicable, like the level of the offense does

  204. not match the level of the outrage, and you wonder

  205. why what was that all about?

  206. Hell?

  207. You ever with the Elevation Church sticker on your car

  208. said some words that weren't blessed the Lord, Oh my soul,

  209. And wonder.

  210. You know how y'all think Holly is so sweet?

  211. What time in college she was singing a worship song

  212. in her Ford contour, and the song said I was there,

  213. I was in the passenger seat. The song said, you

  214. are so patient with me.

  215. Lord.

  216. She didn't get to Lord before she was screaming.

  217. At the at the dodge ram that pulled out in

  218. front of her. And she is loud. Holly is like

  219. when she's up here, A reflects, She'll be smiling. But

  220. I'm gonna tell you something about Hollyford.

  221. What what is that all about? Where did that voice

  222. come from?

  223. We?

  224. And then the devil starts telling you, oh, well, you

  225. know you're not a real Christian.

  226. You're hypocrite. Some of y'all are gonna lose it before

  227. that day is over.

  228. Because of your fantasy football lineup. No, not because of

  229. anything significant to anything having to do with real life

  230. in any way, because of other men that have absolutely

  231. no effect on you other than one hundred dollars at

  232. the end of the season.

  233. And you wonder, why did I go off like that?

  234. It's understandable because we live in not only the age

  235. of anxiety, but if you noticed, we live in the

  236. age of outrage too. How trendy it is now to

  237. just get mad about anything that you don't like the

  238. first time you hear it.

  239. Well, you aren't going to like this part of the sermon.

  240. I don't think too much, But.

  241. Can I be honest with you, I don't really care

  242. what shoes you were to church today. No, my perspective

  243. is different, but I spend too much time seeing people's butts.

  244. To care about what.

  245. You have on your feet today. So I don't have

  246. time when teen suicide is at an all time high

  247. to check and see if you're wearing a Didas or Nike,

  248. if you got yeezes or you want to just do it.

  249. I don't really have time to debate with you about

  250. a sluice or a commercial or getting mad about I

  251. really don't have time for it up here when people's

  252. lives are on the line. I really don't have time

  253. for it in here, when people are on antidepressants in

  254. a rate that's making them more depressed, but they don't

  255. know where else.

  256. To turn, And we're run into all.

  257. Kinds of places that are leaving us empty.

  258. But we want to fight.

  259. There will be at least one comment on this YouTube

  260. video about the holes in my jeans.

  261. Are you for real right now? But it triggers something.

  262. You're not fighting me over shoes, You're not fighting me

  263. over jeans.

  264. One moment told me until you save your beard, I

  265. can't watch you anymore. This is psychotic, she said, I'm

  266. praying for you.

  267. I want to say I'm praying for you. I'm a

  268. fast forty days. If you're that messed up, I don't

  269. know why I went off. I think like for me,

  270. this is just what I'm working through, and so this

  271. makes you think I'm crazy.

  272. You're right, but I'm going through this season of my

  273. life where I don't want to keep blaming my environment

  274. or consulting things that happened in my life, because the

  275. Cross of Jesus Christ gives.

  276. Me a new reality.

  277. And it really changes everything in the sense that all

  278. of my life has to be viewed through that lens

  279. of what He did for me and who he says

  280. I am.

  281. If I'm not careful, I'll be like the King, who, when.

  282. Confronted with an impossible situation that reminded him of a

  283. past hurt, he inflicted.

  284. The opportunity of his present moment with the pain of

  285. his past. Do you see what I'm saying he projected.

  286. See every time he dealt with AERM, it was an attack.

  287. And now it's an opportunity for this man to be

  288. healed and see what God can do. But if what

  289. you went through isn't healed by what Christ did for you,

  290. you will treat the opportunity.

  291. Like an attack. Hey, thank you for watching.
