  1. This is a word for somebody who has gotten comfortable

  2. in your dysfunction. In fact, I want to take you

  3. to another passage real quick that shows you the devil's strategy.

  4. How many of you would like to know the devil's

  5. strategy for keeping you defeated?

  6. Because Paul.

  7. Writes something in Second Corinthians chapter one that I have

  8. always loved as a counseling scripture. When people are going

  9. through hard things, I will often share this verse with them,

  10. because really the whole passage is good, but two verses

  11. in particular, where it talks about how sometimes when you

  12. go through something in your life, you're not going through

  13. it for you, but there is somebody who will go

  14. through something that will need what you will have after

  15. you get through what you're going through, and you will have.

  16. It to give them. It is the function of comfort.

  17. It is the function of comfort.

  18. Comfort has a specific function. The comfort of Christ comes

  19. into our life not so that we can only be comforted,

  20. but that we can comfort others. If you search the

  21. scripture for comfort, you will find many commands to comfort others,

  22. and you will find many promises that God will comfort you.

  23. But you will never find permission to comfort yourself. What

  24. the devil wants us to do is to learn to

  25. run for comfort and cover.

  26. To places outside of our calling, so that.

  27. He can keep us comfortable in our dysfunction, so that

  28. we will never see our destiny come to pass.

  29. When Paul says it, he says.

  30. Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord,

  31. Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion and the God of

  32. all comfort. Well, see, Pastor Stephen, you said that Jesus

  33. didn't come to comfort us, and there Paul says that

  34. he did. And so I'm going with Paul hang on

  35. for another verse. See if you still want to sit

  36. there and argue with me after I've been all over

  37. in these.

  38. Books all week.

  39. Verse four says, who comforts us in all our dysfunction?

  40. No, See, that's what the devil does.

  41. The devil wants to comfort you in your dysfunction until

  42. you no longer see it as a problem, until it

  43. becomes so normal that you can go to church with

  44. an evil spirit and take it to lunch and take

  45. notes but not take action. But Christ came to confront

  46. your dysfunction.

  47. Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord.

  48. Jeis Christ, Father Compassion, who comforts us in all our

  49. give me the verse.

  50. All our trouble, all our trouble.

  51. Comfort can become dysfunctional when we get it from.

  52. The wrong place. Some of us have comfort foods. Why

  53. are you looking at me like you like you never

  54. ate the whole bag?

  55. Okay, let me try another route, since you're gonna be

  56. all dietary about this point. Some of us have comfort friends.

  57. Here we go, help me, holy ghosts. I feel demon

  58. shrinking well, I preci this word.

  59. Some of us have.

  60. People in our lives who are good to us, but

  61. they're not good for us.

  62. I don't I don't mean to call.

  63. You out, but could it be possible that your comfort

  64. is keeping you from your calling, That you have put

  65. yourself in a space that seems safe, but you are sabotaging,

  66. silencing the power of God in your life because you

  67. love comfort. Praise be to the God and Father of

  68. our Lord, Jesus Christ, Father of all compassion and God

  69. of all comfort, who comforts us in all our troubles.

  70. In all our troubles, you mean God will use trouble

  71. to bring me comfort. Yes, and not only that, but

  72. God will disrupt my comfort to confront my dysfunction. So

  73. when I'm going through trouble, let me be a little

  74. slower to ask God to rebuke the devil. Maybe the

  75. trouble is the means of transformation. When God calls you out.

  76. Sometimes it is uncomfortable.

  77. Sometimes. The way I gauge the presence of God when.

  78. I'm preaching is by how uncomfortable people look in their seats.

  79. I didn't do that when I first started preaching. When

  80. I first start preaching, I thought they clapped. I was

  81. doing good.

  82. Now I understand when you squirm.

  83. My favorite is when the Holy Spirit has you pinned

  84. so up against your chair.

  85. And I'm like about to send the medical team to

  86. check your pulse. That's when the presence of God came

  87. when you got most uncomfortable. As long as we associate

  88. Jesus with comfort, we will miss him. Because Jesus comes

  89. to confront, not to condemn. There's a difference. Confrontation has

  90. the intent and the means to change you. Condemnation does

  91. not God soul of the word. He gave a son

  92. not to condemn.

  93. The world, but that the world through him might be saved.

  94. The spirit of Christ is not to condemn, but the

  95. spirit of Christ will confront.

  96. Confront.

  97. And my question today is what have we allowed to

  98. become too comfortable in our presence to occupy space that

  99. belongs to God. That man sat in their synagogue week

  100. after week, day after day, and the demon said nothing

  101. until Jesus came. The evil spirit the dysfunction stayed silent.

  102. But the proof of the presence of.

  103. God is not always comfortable feelings.

  104. Sometimes the proof of.

  105. The presence of God is disruption. Sometimes the presence of

  106. God is that one thing in your life dies so that.

  107. Something else can come alive.

  108. I don't think we recognize him when he comes because

  109. we don't understand what.

  110. He came for. But I'll show you one thing.

  111. The demons knew more about who Jesus was than the

  112. church people did. When Jesus spoke, they said, oh, you

  113. came to get rid of us. Oh this is our eviction. Notice,

  114. Oh this is the promised one. The church people were

  115. still taking notes, and the demons were popping prozac. Because

  116. the demons know the name at which every name must bow,

  117. the name at which every tongue must confess that Jesus.

  118. Christ is Lord.

  119. And if he is Lord, fear has got to go

  120. and if he is Lord, turn.

  121. This back up.

  122. And if he is Lord and has the keys of death,

  123. hell and the grave, there is nothing. I think we

  124. get too comfortable sometimes with our dysfunction. I do.

  125. I think.

  126. The devil doesn't want us to get uncomfortable because then.

  127. We would change.

  128. So he will make it so comfortable for us to

  129. be dysfunctional that we don't seek anything different. I don't

  130. hear a lot of people get into baptism tank and say,

  131. you know, I got a raise, I got married, the

  132. ring was seven carrots, and I went to elevation. I

  133. hear a lot of times where they say something shifted

  134. in my life. I lost something, I went through something,

  135. I faced the consequence of something, and at that point

  136. in my discomfort, God used my trouble to confront my dysfunction.

  137. So can I say something to everybody who's in trouble today.

  138. This is not just a test, This is a confrontation.

  139. This is an.

  140. Opportunity that God wants to use to confront what you

  141. have called normal and to call you into something greater.

  142. I believe the spirit of Jesus Christ is in you.

  143. And if the spirit of Christ is in you, greater

  144. is he that is in you than he that is

  145. in the world. So we're going to take eighteen seconds

  146. and issue the command to every insecurity, to every fear,

  147. to every doubt, to every regret, come out in the

  148. Enamel Jesus.
