  1. You can't disappoint what God has appointed.

  2. You can't disappoint.

  3. When God calls your name, when God gets ready to

  4. use you, when God gets ready to do work in

  5. your life, When God gets ready to raise you up,

  6. when God gets ready to send you forth, when God

  7. gets ready to stir up your gift, when God gets

  8. ready to release your purpose. This new stage breach is

  9. pretty good. I feel good about it. Shut somebody next

  10. to you and tell him he's calling your name, and see.

  11. I love God because he knew how to find David

  12. even in the field.

  13. He didn't need David to be in the line up.

  14. Do you know what.

  15. You don't have to position yourself in front of people

  16. to be used by God. You don't have to convince

  17. a committee that you're good enough for the grace of God.

  18. How many are.

  19. Grateful that God chooses sovereignly whom he wills, and uses

  20. sovereignly whom he wills. And when God gass's ready to

  21. use you, there's no devil in hell.

  22. They touch your.

  23. Neighbors say don't miss it, don't miss your turn. And see,

  24. if it had been up to people, David wouldn't have

  25. gotten his turn. But when God says it's your time.

  26. He knows exactly where to find you.

  27. Don't stress out about it.

  28. Don't worry about whether or not people appreciate you. Don't

  29. even worry about whether they notice you. Don't even worry

  30. about whether they call you by your correct name. It

  31. doesn't matter. You cannot disappoint what God has appointed. But

  32. if David hadn't been in the field keeping sheep, he wouldn't.

  33. Have been prepared to lead people.

  34. What he's what he should have would have seen as

  35. being very insignificant, was exactly the thing that he needed

  36. to prepare him for his assignment. It's a funny thing, though,

  37. because you know you would expect and after this moment

  38. where David is anointed and pointed and called to be

  39. a king, that the next scene we would see would

  40. be that of David and his driver making a trip.

  41. Perhaps Deniman Marcus, Come on, if God told you you

  42. would be the next king, wouldn't you want to go

  43. try on some robes and some crowns size forty two short?

  44. Wouldn't you want to.

  45. Try on some versace crowns? ARMANI Roe, I need to

  46. get ready for this thing. And sometimes we expect that

  47. when God announces a change in our life, it's going

  48. to be activated immediately, and we get confused when God

  49. says it's your time, but he makes us wait our turn.

  50. Sometimes God is doing things. It was on that day

  51. that David was announced to be a king, but it

  52. would be many years later that he would wear the crown.

  53. You know, when you give your life to Christ, in

  54. a moment you're saved, in a moment you're forgiven, and

  55. a moment you're cleansed, and a moment you're redeemed. All

  56. of those things are true of you immediately, but all

  57. of the changes that those new realities are meant to

  58. produce in your life happen not immediately, but gradually.

  59. You know what I see people do?

  60. I see people become very discouraged in the process of

  61. awaiting the change that God initiated, because we're a little

  62. bit confused. I remember Elijah was so confused when we

  63. gave the money to build Elevation Valentine. We bought the

  64. land back in twenty twelve, and Elijah was six years

  65. old at the time, and he gave an offering. Our

  66. whole family was supposed to give, and so I let

  67. Elijah give seventy dollars of my money that we pretended

  68. was his. It's like all the money that he thinks

  69. he has.

  70. And after he gave the.

  71. Money, he said, so, daddy, we're having church at Elevation

  72. Valentine next Sunday, because in his mind I gave the money.

  73. And so now it's four years later now and here

  74. we are finally the land in one season, we built

  75. the building in the next. And sometimes you walk away

  76. from your initial investment because you don't see the immediate development.

  77. I'm trying to say, sometimes you give up on your

  78. calling too easily, and you miss your turn. David didn't

  79. go on, try on crowns and practice is king wave

  80. and practice signing kingly autographs.

  81. David went back to.

  82. The sheep field to do what he was doing before

  83. until one day, everybody say, one day, one day he

  84. was given.

  85. An assignment by his father.

  86. His father turns to him one day, and I don't

  87. know if a lot of people know this part of

  88. the story, because everybody knows about the slingshot, and everybody

  89. knows about Goliath, and everybody knows about how Goliath fell.

  90. And I'll tell you what, if you ever want to be.

  91. A preacher, you should preach about Goliath. People love to

  92. hear sermons about Goliath because everybody has something in their

  93. life that's bigger than them. Everybody has something in their

  94. life that's been intimidating them. Everybody has a fear and

  95. anxiety and addiction.

  96. I could go around the room. I think I could

  97. probably point.

  98. At people and look at them long enough and guess

  99. what your goliath is. Some of y'all spend too much,

  100. some y'all eat too much, some of y'all talk too much,

  101. some of y'all judge too much. Can I keep going?

  102. I won't do it, but I could. And everybody has

  103. a Goliath. Right, preach about Goliath and makes for good preaching.

  104. Man, And Goliath is gonna fall down, and you could

  105. kill the giant. I believe that, man. But can I

  106. tell you something that fascinating to me that the Lord

  107. spoke to me.

  108. Lord spoke to me.

  109. I was studying this textan Lord said to me, most

  110. of the people you're talking to never even get to Goliath.

  111. You're trying to teach.

  112. Them how to kill an enemy that they're never even

  113. going to meet.

  114. So when he said that to me, you.

  115. Know, not out loud, just kind of this impression I got.

  116. I was like, what do you mean?

  117. And I went back to the text and I remembered this.

  118. I saw this back in college. In fact, I used

  119. to share about it in college because I thought it

  120. was important to talk about faithfulness in the small things.

  121. And it was one day everybody say one day, say

  122. a loud or say one day taught your neighbors say.

  123. This could be your day for a turnaround.

  124. Now, Jesse, this is for Samuel seventeen seventeen. It says

  125. that this giant from Gath named Goliath was confronting and

  126. defying the people of God for forty days, and every

  127. day he would taunt them.

  128. But Jesse, he said to his son David, huh.

  129. Verse seventeen is kind of confusing because Jesse must have

  130. forgotten that he was talking to a future king, because

  131. what he asked him to do was so menial. He said,

  132. take this etha of roasted grain, and these ten loaves

  133. of bread.

  134. For your brothers, and hurry to their camp.

  135. And David could have said, who do you think you're

  136. talking to? Didn't you hear what Samuel said about me?

  137. I am a man of potential and purpose?

  138. I don't have time to run your little errands.

  139. I'm not trying to take bread and cheese to the

  140. same brothers who didn't he and bring me into the

  141. room when Samuel came to choose a king. But this

  142. is the test, see to see if David will do

  143. the basic things. Sometimes we want God to use us

  144. to do a big thing, and.

  145. We won't even do the basics.

  146. Talk to me, somebody, how in the world can God

  147. use us to do something big and we won't even

  148. do something basic. I love David's heart because the story

  149. could have stopped right here if he had said, I'm.

  150. Not doing that. I'm a king, I'm not doing that.

  151. I'm not your demeaning to me. I'm not doing that.

  152. You know all the ways that we disobey God, these

  153. little things.

  154. That he asked us to do.

  155. Call your sister and tell her you're sorry. Reach out

  156. to somebody who looks different than you and listen to

  157. them about their struggle.

  158. It's funny to me. Some of us want to kill Goliath.

  159. But we don't want to tend sheep, and we don't

  160. want to make deliveries.

  161. We want to see big victories.

  162. But how in the world can God use us to

  163. kill giants if we can't even follow simple instructions. The

  164. Bible says that David, and I think this is why

  165. God used him. You know, every time we see David

  166. in the scripture, he's moving. Now. He says at first though,

  167. that he ran to Goliath. But you got to understand

  168. before he ran to Goliath.

  169. Look at verse twenty.

  170. He says, early in the morning, David left the flock

  171. in the care of a shepherd, loaded up and set out.

  172. Now here's what David didn't know at the time, because

  173. we know it, and it's much easier to interpret what

  174. God is going to do when you know the ending.

  175. But can I tell you something David did not know

  176. that this was for Samuel seventeen.

  177. From his perspective, this.

  178. Was just another day. Sometimes God raps destiny in what

  179. we perceive is just another day. The same day that

  180. he was told to take Brad to the battle lines

  181. was the same day he stood over Goliath. But he

  182. didn't know that, and he would have missed his turn

  183. if he did not obey.
