  1. I do need you to know that the reason some

  2. of you feel like you feel is because God's hand

  3. is on you and you're different.

  4. You're different. You're different. That's why you find yourself when.

  5. People that are around you, they're being kind of hateful

  6. or they're making fun of someone and they're calling them

  7. gay or they're calling them this or they're calling them

  8. that and you just kind of can't can't go along

  9. with it and even when you find yourself laughing along

  10. you're like man that.

  11. Doesn't feel right to me you're a leader.

  12. That's not what god put you here for is just

  13. to be a part of that that that mentality you're

  14. You're like one of those shining stars that was in

  15. Holly's Bible study that she taught that is thoughtless and

  16. pure in a depraved generation, that you would shine like

  17. a star.

  18. That's you.

  19. But leaders are lonely. I think Jesus was very lonely.

  20. Nobody got him. They were always trying to talk him

  21. out of going to the cross.

  22. That's the whole reason he came down in pampers. He

  23. didn't come to feed them fish. He did that, but

  24. that's not the main thing he came for. So you

  25. will see this pattern. Jesus chose to be alone.

  26. They're looking for you.

  27. You've got to do amazing things. Even that's what the

  28. devil told Jesus. Right before he was going to start

  29. his ministry, he had to be tempted, and the devil said,

  30. do something spectacular. You know how right now one of

  31. the only ways to be popular for girls sometimes is

  32. to go on certain social media platforms and kind of

  33. like show everything that's too much that's really not for

  34. everybody else to see that is really sacred to you

  35. but if there is something inside of you that knows

  36. that's not who i am that's all right that's all

  37. right that's all right.

  38. I'd rather be fruitful for.

  39. 30 years than famous for 30 minutes.

  40. I got something inside of me And Jesus chose to

  41. be alone. But when I read you the text, there

  42. was another man who was lonely not because he chose it.

  43. The Bible doesn't say his name. I doubt many people

  44. ever asked him his name. The Bible just tells us

  45. His condition, which was a skin condition called leprosy. Now,

  46. the Bible is pretty clear about what lepers were treated.

  47. Like in this culture. And it wasn't that they were mean.

  48. Y'all thought social distancing was so 2020?

  49. Way before everybody was wearing masks around. Social distancing.

  50. And the Bible has all kinds of stuff that is

  51. way more relevant than we think it is.

  52. So when people tell you, oh, the Bible's outdated. Social distancing.

  53. In fact, it wasn't six feet.

  54. If you had the skin disease called leprosy, the first

  55. thing you would have to do is go and show

  56. yourself to the priest. And what would normally happen is

  57. a spot would start to form there.

  58. On your skin.

  59. So they check you out and they would see if

  60. the spot was just on the skin, like a scab,

  61. or was it in the skin?

  62. And if it was in the skin and the.

  63. Coloration of the skin was starting to change and it

  64. was starting.

  65. To spread, then they would quarantine you.

  66. And they would keep you outside of the camp until

  67. they could see if it got worse. If it got

  68. worse after seven days when you came back to the

  69. priest and he checked you out, the sons of Aaron,

  70. the ones who kind of ran the church of that day,

  71. when you came back to them.

  72. Now, all of this is in the Bible in Leviticus.

  73. What verses did I give you? Leviticus, the Leviticus verse

  74. I gave you. Put it up for me. 13.

  75. It said anyone with a defiling disease must wear torn clothes.

  76. which some of us do by choice, but for the lepers,

  77. this was to signify something about their skin condition. And

  78. not only did they have to wear torn clothes, but

  79. they couldn't shave their.

  80. Beard, cut their hair.

  81. Man, this sounds just like March, April, May, June, and

  82. July in the United States of America.

  83. How did Leviticus know?

  84. But put it back up.

  85. It said, this is the saddest part about it for me.

  86. It said, cover the lower part of their face and

  87. cry out, unclean, unclean. So that means before anybody even

  88. got to know who you were really, they identified you

  89. by what they saw on you.

  90. Amen.

  91. And I need you to get that context because a

  92. lot of us in our lives, we have issues, but

  93. they're not on our skin. They're not spots on our skin.

  94. They're spots on our soul. The places inside of us

  95. that keep us isolated. What's your spot?

  96. What's your spot? Oh, everybody's got a spot.

  97. And if you look at me with that holy heart

  98. playing church face, Gabriel, I will look in your eyes

  99. and prophesy every demon that you've been. I mean, I'm

  100. telling you, everybody in this room has a spot.

  101. Not me. No, no. Yours is just a little deeper.

  102. When I thought about this man and In Mark chapter one.

  103. I noticed that when he came up to Jesus, because remember,

  104. he's not supposed to get near Jesus. In fact, he's

  105. not supposed to get near anybody, let alone the spotless

  106. son of God, let alone a rabbi.

  107. He's supposed to stay back. How far back? Not six feet,

  108. 50 steps back.

  109. Now I preached this text a couple of years ago

  110. in our church. But it feels a little different right

  111. now where our world is. This feels really like it's

  112. for us right now.

  113. 50 feet back. You know how lonely that would be?

  114. To live your life 50 feet back from human touch.

  115. You know how lonely that would be?

  116. That every time you walk into a room, you had

  117. to announce.

  118. Yourself by what was wrong with you. unclean.

  119. You had to say it loud too. If you didn't,

  120. they could stone you to death. If they found out

  121. that you were carrying something that you didn't let them

  122. know about because they saw it as being contagious and

  123. they were trying to protect people from it and that

  124. was the reason for it.

  125. It wasn't to be cruel.

  126. They were trying to be careful so they kept them

  127. back and you had to walk in the room and

  128. tell them not who you were, not what your hopes were,

  129. not what your dreams were, not what your gift was,

  130. not how you had a good heart.

  131. Unclean. How many of y'all would have come tonight to

  132. hear me preach.

  133. And I want you to really, really think about this.

  134. If before you came in, you had to shout every

  135. sin you struggled with at the door.

  136. They didn't get it, Elijah.

  137. Listen, he asked me the other day, we were watching YouthX.

  138. I don't remember who we were watching preach.

  139. Do you?

  140. You said, if every thought that you had right now

  141. came on the screen at YouthX, would you still have

  142. your job as the pastor?

  143. I said, oh, God, no. I said, would you have

  144. any friends? He said, no. I said, well, what are

  145. you thinking that would be so bad? He said, I'm

  146. not telling you.

  147. I said, I'm not telling you either.

  148. And then we finished our workout. But I want you

  149. to really think about it.

  150. What if you had to stand at that door and

  151. shout what you struggled with before you walked in? What

  152. if you walked in the door and instead of taking

  153. your temperature.

  154. You had to name your biggest temptation. What if you

  155. had to walk in the room?

  156. Porn!

  157. That was too real.

  158. Porn!

  159. I don't think there would be any men that would

  160. come in and watch me preach if you had to

  161. name your greatest temptation out.

  162. Loud before you walked in. Jesus Christ, Lord and Savior,

  163. help me preach.

  164. I'm preaching to the holy people right now. And yet,

  165. sometimes I think it would be better if our issues

  166. were on the outside than on the inside. Because when

  167. your spots are on the inside, you can learn how

  168. to manage around them. So you never really deal with them.

  169. This man walked up to Jesus. and he begged him

  170. on his knees. Verse 40, if you're willing, you can

  171. make me clean.

  172. And think about this. He hasn't been this close to anybody.

  173. We don't know how long, and we don't really know

  174. this man's story not fully anyway we know that he

  175. had leprosy on his skin but we don't know when

  176. it started or how far it has spread we know

  177. that since leprosy attacks the nervous system one of the

  178. things that it impairs is your ability to feel your

  179. ability to feel and it's been a long time since

  180. this man had felt anything that's a lonely place that's.

  181. A lonely place when you can't really feel anything.

  182. And I'll tell you this, I've been around some people

  183. who are really famous, who are the loneliest people of all,

  184. because although a lot of people know their name and

  185. know what they do and see how they perform, to

  186. most people, they are just an idea or an image,

  187. not an individual. And so when you think to yourself, oh,

  188. I'll be famous and then I'll feel fulfilled, it's a

  189. lie of the enemy. You don't want to be famous.

  190. You want to be fruitful. You want to be fruitful.

  191. And what good is it for you to be famous

  192. if it just makes you more isolated because you have

  193. to fake it for fame? This is what I love

  194. about the man. He was willing to risk being seen

  195. and and his issue being exposed in order to be touched.

  196. And the first person who touched this man.

  197. Since his disease showed up on his skin was the

  198. sinless son of God. I love how Jesus touched him

  199. because we know that Jesus didn't have to do that.

  200. Jesus had the ability to heal people and elsewhere he

  201. did just by the power of his word. But he

  202. decided to do something that would communicate more than syllables could.

  203. He didn't just want to show this man that he

  204. had the power to heal. He wanted to teach him

  205. a lesson about what God is like. And I want

  206. everybody in here who is struggling with shame right now

  207. to hear the word of the Lord.

  208. I want you to hear this in Argentina. I want

  209. you to hear this in Rock Hill.

  210. I want you to hear this right now in Tennessee

  211. and Alabama and Idaho.

  212. I want you to hear.

  213. This right now sitting watching this all by yourself today.

  214. And you've been isolated.

  215. And there's something inside of you that makes you feel

  216. like there's something.

  217. Wrong with you.

  218. See, in the Old Testament, if the priest touched something

  219. that was unclean, it made the priest dirty.

  220. That's why he couldn't touch it.

  221. But Jesus was not just any priest. I wish I

  222. had an organ like it was Sunday morning. Jesus was

  223. not just any priest. This is not a human priest.

  224. this is the lamb of god this is a great

  225. high priest he is not defiled he is not ashamed

  226. he knew no sin so watch this when you touch

  227. jesus the unclean doesn't make the clean unclean The clean

  228. makes the unclean clean. Y'all act like y'all want to

  229. praise God on hour 71 of YouthX 2020. Come on

  230. and let him touch you.

  231. I have a word for somebody today who.

  232. Has been carrying shame. And it's had you in a

  233. lonely place. A lonely place.

  234. Oh yeah, you still text people, but it's not really

  235. you texting. It's a representative of you that's trying to

  236. figure out what to say that's gonna create.

  237. The image that you think they won't reject.

  238. And the places that you go when you're lonely often

  239. make you even more lonely.

  240. It's a lonely place outside the camp.

  241. It's a lonely place when the spot isn't on your skin,

  242. but the spot is in your soul.

  243. And you think, if anybody knew that part about me,

  244. they wouldn't love me. But they didn't make you. They

  245. didn't make you.

  246. They didn't die for you. And let me promise you something.

  247. They got their own spot too.

  248. Yeah. So for all of you who feel like, I'm

  249. not one of these good people. I'm not one of

  250. these good Christian kids. I'm not one of the church kids.

  251. I'm not one of these.

  252. Notice how Jesus did not resist the man when he

  253. got at a distance that he wasn't supposed to be.

  254. He said, watch this. You ready? This is what I

  255. came for. This is what I came for. I didn't

  256. come here to win a popularity contest.

  257. I came to touch people and use people and raise

  258. people and heal people that nobody.

  259. Else would touch.

  260. I want to use that kid right there, the weird one.

  261. Where are the weird ones at? Where are the weird

  262. ones at? Where are the weird ones at? And I

  263. know you feel weird sometimes, and so do I. But

  264. the text says that when that man came out of

  265. his lonely place.

  266. Lonely place. Lonely place.

  267. It's a lonely place when you have an addiction and

  268. you can't tell anybody about it.

  269. It's a lonely place.

  270. It's a lonely place when sometimes you have suicidal thoughts.

  271. It's a lonely place. It's a lonely place when your

  272. dad wasn't there to raise you. It's a lonely place.

  273. It's a lonely place when you've only been able to

  274. hang out with your eight-year-old.

  275. Sister and your mom for the last 14 years.

  276. And y'all are all wearing masks together, watching the same

  277. movies on the couch for the hundredth time. It's a

  278. lonely place when you can't even come to church for YouthX.

  279. You got to watch it on your phone. And yet

  280. the Lord says, don't make life decisions. when you're in

  281. a lonely place. Don't make life decisions when you're in

  282. a lonely place. You do some things that you have

  283. to live with the rest of your life and some

  284. of the places that some of y'all are going so

  285. you won't be lonely.

  286. Are making you more lonely.

  287. Because now you're on here comparing and now you're on

  288. here posing and now you're on here just and now

  289. you feel more lonely. So when that man came to

  290. Jesus and Jesus touched him, I'm sure he was surprised.

  291. And the leprosy left him immediately. You don't have to

  292. wait the.

  293. Next five years for the shame to fall off your life.

  294. It may take a while for the behavior to change,

  295. but you can leave the shame right here.

  296. Today, right now, right here, right now. right here, right now.

  297. The shame stuff's here, right here, right now. Hey, thank

  298. you for watching.
