  1. Now watch this. This is funny. Possibly illegal, what Jesus

  2. does next.

  3. I think so.

  4. Because Jesus, who.

  5. Is the word of God, who spoke the world into existence,

  6. Colossians 1.16, needs a way to get out into the

  7. world that he made the message that he is.

  8. He needs a way.

  9. This is crazy because the maker in the beginning was

  10. a word and the word was with God and the

  11. word was God. He was with God in the beginning.

  12. Through him all things were made that were made and

  13. without him nothing has been made that has been made.

  14. That one, the maker, needs a way to get the word.

  15. The word needs a way. The maker needs a way

  16. to get the word into the world that he so

  17. loved that he came wrapped in flesh.

  18. He needs a way.

  19. And it says that he saw two boats at the

  20. shore and one of them was belonging to Simon.

  21. Watch what he does.

  22. Verse three. He got into one of the boats.

  23. Okay, you're looking like that's normal.

  24. No conversation. No lease agreement.

  25. You don't think if you don't think if you don't

  26. think this.

  27. Is weird, try it when you leave church today. No,

  28. I'm serious.

  29. If you don't think this is weird, just find the

  30. nicest car that you like in the parking lot. Just

  31. the nicest one. Don't do a Camry. There's nothing wrong

  32. with Camrys. But if you're going to steal a car,

  33. pick the nicest one in the parking lot.

  34. And just do what Jesus did.

  35. Just get in it.

  36. And when they come up to the window and ask

  37. you what are you doing in my car say i

  38. noticed your elevation sticker i figured you're a christian i.

  39. Need to use it.

  40. Can i have your keys because.

  41. It's essentially what jesus does he sits down in the

  42. boat the one belonging to simon peter okay why did

  43. jesus pick peter you ever thought about that i have

  44. because i can think of a lot of reasons why

  45. he wouldn't pick peter A lot of reasons why he

  46. wouldn't pick Peter.

  47. Peter was impulsive. Peter was a know-it-all. Peter was.

  48. Violent.

  49. You don't cut off people's.

  50. Ears if you had a normal upbringing.

  51. That's not something that.

  52. Peter had a filthy mouth. Peter, Peter, Peter.

  53. I heard one preacher, he said, because Peter was bold.

  54. That's why Jesus liked him. He was bold. I don't

  55. think so.

  56. Because remember, the Bible was written pre-Uber. And Jesus had

  57. a lot to accomplish in three years.

  58. The word had to get out. Touch somebody and say,

  59. we've got to get the word out.

  60. How are we going to get it out? No Facebook.

  61. No YouTube. No Instagram.

  62. No Instagram. You know why I have come to believe

  63. that the reason Jesus picked Peter is because he had

  64. a boat.

  65. How else? Okay, let me preach point number two.

  66. I want to talk about creative collaboration because now here

  67. is the creator partnering.

  68. With his creation. Here is the word of.

  69. God who has the ability to.

  70. Walk on water. Don't forget that.

  71. If Jesus had wanted to just get.

  72. Away from the crowd and preach and create a little.

  73. Distance, we know from Matthew chapter 14 that if a

    Matthew 14 chapter mention

  74. storm comes up and the boat is not.

  75. Available and Jesus needs to get somewhere, he.

  76. Will just suspend the laws of buoyancy that he himself

  77. created in the beginning was the word and the word

  78. was with God. If Jesus can't find a boat to

  79. ride on, he'll speak a word and walk on the

  80. word that he is to the place that he is.

  81. But you don't want to do it like that. And

  82. I would have done it like that because this is

  83. early in his ministry. And if you moonwalk back on

  84. the water and then preach to the crowd, they'll pay

  85. more attention.

  86. Don't you think?

  87. He said, no, I want a boat. I want a boat.

  88. I want his boat. I want her boat. I want

  89. to use their life. I want to.

  90. No, I want to use their weakness. I want to

  91. build a church. I want to call people together from all.

  92. Different nations around the world who will be a part

  93. of the EFAM. I want to call people from different backgrounds.

  94. I want to call people of different kinds, different types.

  95. I want some people who own their own businesses. I

  96. want some people who are unemployed. I want some people

  97. who suffered great abuse in their childhood. I want to

  98. bring them together. I want to use your boat. It's

  99. the hardest thing for us to understand sometimes. Why would

  100. the one who can walk on water have any use

  101. for our boat? And I think the devil uses it

  102. to give us excuses why we don't offer God what

  103. we have.

  104. Because my boat's not as big as his. My boat,

  105. my boat, my boat's dirty. My boat, come on, my boat.

  106. I fished all night, I caught nothing. What would you

  107. want with me, Jesus? So I went from thinking.

  108. That Jesus needed Peter's boat to realizing that Jesus didn't

  109. need Peter's boat.

  110. Peter needed Jesus' blessing on his boat.

  111. Because that same thing happened to me in the area

  112. giving when we give the offering I Thought that giving

  113. was the way that we supported the church to keep

  114. the lights on to keep the salaries paid Forgive me

  115. for being so naive. I thought God needed my boat.

  116. I thought he needed my gift a Little bit of

  117. life rolled by and I realized that God was God

  118. before I ever showed up And I'll put this out

  119. to you there were two boats on the shore So

  120. I believe if Peter had said no, Jesus would have

  121. gotten the other one. It means he doesn't have to

  122. use us. He chooses to use us. It's in verse 3.

  123. It says that he got into the boat belonging to Simon.

  124. And I love the phrase. It says, and he asked him.

  125. You want to do this?

  126. I mean, you don't have to.

  127. I can totally do this without you. But I like

  128. your boat, bro. I like your boldness. I like your brokenness.

  129. Can I borrow your boat? Can God borrow your boat?

  130. The gifts that he gave you? Can he use them

  131. for his glory? Or did you get so confused about

  132. who made the trees that That you lost sight of

  133. the fact that everything that God gave you is on loan.

  134. You can't take it with you. Giving releases me to

  135. remember that it was his boat to begin with. In

  136. the beginning was the word. And the word was with

  137. God and the word was God. He was with God

  138. in the beginning. Through him, all things were made. Peter

  139. had a boat. But the boat had to be made

  140. of something. Peter had a boat, but the boat had

  141. to come from somewhere. And now the one who spoke

  142. the cedars and who spoke the cypress into existence, the

  143. one who spoke the ocean and the chemical balance of

  144. the ocean that would create and sustain the life of

  145. the fish, the one who put the gills on the

  146. fish that Peter was looking for at the bottom of

  147. the ocean unsuccessfully said, can I get on your boat?

  148. Because it's a cool thing when God becomes your partner.

  149. He knows the best spots to fish. It's a great

  150. thing to have the Son of God on your boat.

  151. It's a great thing when you don't have to fish alone.

  152. It's a great thing when you say, God, all I

  153. have is yours.

  154. It's a freedom to it.

  155. I can't explain it if you've never experienced it, but

  156. it's a freedom to it. When you come to the

  157. end of yourself and your boats are pulled up on

  158. the shore and Jesus says, now that you've done all

  159. you can.

  160. Do, will you give me a push?

  161. And all Peter had to do, watch this, no 10

  162. year plan. All he had to do was obey and

  163. give Jesus freedom. Now, when he pushed that boat out

  164. into the water, he thought he was loaning Jesus the.

  165. Boat for an hour. He did not know because God

  166. will trick you into stuff. Somebody said there's a catch.

  167. There's always a catch. He did not know that he

  168. would spend the.

  169. Next three years taking this crazy miracle work. He didn't

  170. know that the deaf ears would be opened after they

  171. got off this boat. He didn't know that blind eyes

  172. would see because Jesus got a ride on his boat.

  173. You never know what God will do until you let

  174. him on your boat.

  175. You don't know. You can't know.

  176. And that's what faith is, is pushing out into the

  177. deep when you don't know the result. And it's letting

  178. down the nets for a catch. Touch somebody and say,

  179. there's a catch. There's a catch. There's a catch. Oh,

  180. Jesus said, I know you can't see it, but I

  181. can see it because I stock these waters you're fishing in.

  182. There is a catch. See, I think Tom Lehman was

  183. telling me this. He said, fishing is like the Holy Spirit.

  184. You can't see the fish, but they're there. And the

  185. more you learn about it, the more you will know

  186. how to fish in the right places.

  187. The more you follow him, the more you hear him.

  188. The more you get acquainted with his voice and say,

  189. I don't see it.

  190. I don't feel it.

  191. But God, if you speak it, I'll do it. Not

  192. because I feel it. Not because I see it. Not

  193. because I understand it. And not because it makes sense.

  194. But if you say so, I will. If you say

  195. do it, I'll do it. I want the obedience of

  196. God to be the guarantee of my inheritance.

  197. Yes.
