  1. Hey, you welcome to the Generation's Church Podcast. We pray you will be

  2. blessed by this message. Today I made a word of God both encouraged and

  3. challenge you to be all God purpose you to be. Now, let's dive

  4. right in today's title is no more stinking thinking. We're talking about change,

  5. but we're talking about your mind. Change, but change your mind, Amen,

  6. Romans twelve, verse two. I think we touched on this last week.

  7. Do not be conformed to this world. We said last week. If

  8. you're not transforming, you are then just conforming. You're just becoming like everybody

  9. else or what the world wants you to be. But God wants us to

  10. transform by how, by the renewing of our mind. God actually told us

  11. the secret how to do this, how to become a new person by renewing

  12. your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect

  13. will of God. Amen. We all want to grow. Anyone here doesn't

  14. want to grow, and I don't mean sideways. I mean grow in knowledge,

  15. grow in heart, growing spirit, because all of us automatically grow older.

  16. You are now two seconds older than before. You have no choice.

  17. Growing oh is automatic. Growing up is optional. We want to grow up.

  18. You know, you look around the world, there are forty year olds

  19. who still behave like it's fourteen year olds because they've grown, oh, but

  20. not grown up. But we want to grow up. Amen. So growth

  21. that's like growth is about change. Somebody say change, growth is about change.

  22. If you don't change, you're not growing. So stop changing, you

  23. actually stop growing. There's no way you can grow without changing. Amen.

  24. And to change your life, you must change the way you think. The

  25. Bible says. You want to transform, You want to change change your mind,

  26. ringing your mind because behind everything you do, behind every behavior is a

  27. thought, is a thought. Whether the thought is active or is subconscious,

  28. there is a thought behind every action. Amen. So if you change the

  29. thought, you change the action. You change your to change your life,

  30. change the thinking, because every behavior is motivated by a belief, and every

  31. action is prompted by an attitude. Amen. The Bible says in Proverbs twenty

  32. three, verse seven, for as he thinks in his heart, so is

  33. he. So we become like what we think. The Bible says, for

  34. as he thinks it is hard, so is he. As you think in

  35. the inner man, is you think in your heart? That's who you become.

  36. You are what you think your life. My life is shaped by our

  37. thoughts, everybody. Okay, so the Bible has given a secret to transform,

  38. to become a new better person. Change your mind, change the way

  39. you think. It's kind of like an autopilot imagining a speedboat. Okay,

  40. everybody, imagine a speedboart Okay, the speedboat, and imagine this speed boat

  41. is set to autopilot to go east. Whereas is okay? Wherever is okay?

  42. One way. So let's just say easy is over there. Your boat

  43. is set to go to autopilot to go east. Themes a hands free it

  44. will just go over there right now to make the boat go west instead.

  45. When the boat has been autopiloted to go east. There's two ways you can

  46. do it. One he could, by sheer strength and greet just push the

  47. steirring west and make it go west. Right, And it could work,

  48. right, It could work until his muscles get sore and he gets really tired

  49. and he lets go for a while, and then what would the boat do?

  50. Just go back east again, because it's said to the old pilot,

  51. right, that's kind of like how most of us try to change our life,

  52. right, our life is set to autopilot to go one way because our

  53. thinking has not been renewed, so we go one way. But we share

  54. determination shure, like just brute strength. We try to change our life.

  55. And when our gods are down, usually when we are stressed out, our

  56. gods are down, we just go back to the same ord, same old

  57. habits. Because you know, this kind of determination is short term change.

  58. It's good for short term change, but not long term. In fact,

  59. the long term is a better, easier way change. The autopilot set it

  60. to go west, and you'll go that way. That is like our mind.

  61. Amen, Our mind is like that. When you change the way you

  62. think, you think west, or you think is when you change the way

  63. you think, then it goes that way. The actions and the behavior follows

  64. the thought follow me so far? Okay? Great? So Romans twelve us

  65. do says, do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by

  66. the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and

  67. acceptable and perfect will of God. Romans telve us to in a new living

  68. translation, this is really this way because it sounds simpler. Don't copy the

  69. behavior and customs of this world. But let God transform you into a new

  70. person. God wants you to be a new person. Remember last week about

  71. new wine into new wine skins. You are the wine skin, God's spirit.

  72. God's work is the new wine. Amen. God wants to transform you

  73. into a new person by changing the way you think. Then you will know

  74. what God wants you to do, and you will know how good and pleasing

  75. and perfect his will really is. Amen. So change often starts where starts

  76. in your mind, because the way you think determines the way you feel,

  77. and the way you feel influences the way you act the way you think.

  78. So, for example, let's just say you think, simple simple example.

  79. Are you think money is to be spent? I have money is to be

  80. spent. Some people think money is to be saved. Some people think money

  81. is to be spent. Right, So how you think we effact the way

  82. you feel about money? Right? Oh, I have money. Money is

  83. to be spent. So when I see something I want to buy, my

  84. impulse will be to buy it because money is to be spent, not saved.

  85. So you end up buying the thing whether you need it or not.

  86. You see how our thinking is the root of it. And then in fact,

  87. the way you feel I must I must have this iPhone fifteen my work.

  88. Your current food works perfectly fine, but I gotta have this one because

  89. I need it when you really just want it. You see how our thinking

  90. does that. Yep, if it's in four verse seventeen to twenty four,

  91. this is a neutral living translation version, right, So it's okay with the

  92. Lord's authority, Paul says. Let me say this, leave no longer as

  93. the ungodly do, for they are hopelessly confused. Their closed minds are full

  94. of darkness. They are far away from the life of God because they have

  95. shut their minds and hidden their hearts against Him. They don't care any more

  96. about right and wrong, and they have given themselves over to immorl ways.

  97. Their lives are filled with all kinds of impurity and greed. But that isn't

  98. what you were taught when you learned about Christ. Since you have heard all

  99. about Him and have learned the truth that is in Jesus, throw off your

  100. old eble nature and your former way of life, which is rotten through and

  101. through full of lust and deception. Instead, there must be a spiritual renewal

  102. of your thoughts and attitudes. You must display a new nature because you are

  103. a new person created in God's likeness, righteous, holy, and true.

  104. Amen. Cool. So the Bible says, don't be like the ungodly.

  105. If you all claim that you're in crime, and your Christians and the followers

  106. of Christ, we shouldn't be behaving like the world anymore. Right, we

  107. should and the way we should not behave the way anymore is to have a

  108. renewed mind in your mind. Amen. So discipleship is which is what we

  109. we say we want to do in church. The great commission, the command

  110. of God to us Exchristian is to make disciples. So discipleship is the process

  111. where we're all going through the rest of our Christian life. Disciplosh it in

  112. summary is described as to be like Christ. That's what we're being discipled to

  113. be. We're not discipling you to look like the pastor or disapple you to

  114. look like the church brand, or disciple you to look like I don't know

  115. what. Okay, but there's no discipleship. Discipleship is let's become like Christ.

  116. But to become like Christ is to develop the mind of Christ. Because

  117. the way God thinks affects the way he feels, and it influences the way

  118. he acts. Right Like for example, when Jesus saw the five thousand hungry

  119. people, the way he thought about people intros the way he act, he

  120. said, let's feed them. Was he gonna be a big problem feeding seven

  121. thousand, eight thousand people? Joshua does k thing? Hey, five thousand

  122. people, No joker. Imagine all the place you have to watch somebody chicken

  123. you to cook, all the rubbish after that. See, that's what the

  124. disciples saw. They're not bad people, they're practical people. Phelix said,

  125. no money, I can do this job. The rest say, Jesus,

  126. I have a batter idea. Why don't we just send them home? Let

  127. them buy their own food. No, people nowadays are very fussy. You

  128. know, someone k told someone you know, Vegan lah someone how to everybody,

  129. but had to let them choose. You See, if I, if

  130. I were one of the disciples, I would do the same thing like Jesus,

  131. paciously, like let's just let's just let them go, like get us

  132. some money, let him buy himself. Because I would I would have thought

  133. three steps a hit, Oh the rubbish later, Oh the requests you have

  134. to deal with it. Can you please give me chicken breas I don't want

  135. you can tie the chicken tag, yeah, kind of have the left one

  136. good left with a bit more more muscular or more linear, can because a

  137. left like chicken? So like you and all the requests, no, eight

  138. thousand people, all the children want to like, Oh I can I have?

  139. I did want to do now bro, so send them back. See

  140. the discappoos. We have thought of all the work and Jesus thought about.

  141. Just know they need to be fed. Let's just feed them. See thinking

  142. your mind is everything, Amen, it's really. If you don't like the

  143. way your life is, right now, try changing the way you think.

  144. I know it's easier sat than done, but it can be done. Otherwise

  145. the Bible won't say it right. So discipleship is to be like Christ.

  146. To be like Christ is to develop the minor Christ. Think like Christ and

  147. you will act like Christ. That's why the word repentance. When you say

  148. repent, he's not asking you to feel sorry about this thing you did last

  149. night, So you, guys, you not ask you to feel sorry.

  150. He's asking you to change your mind. The word repentance in the gree is

  151. meta noah, which means change your mind. That's repentance, because if you

  152. no longer think the same way about pawn. I know, I'm looking at

  153. you porn. It's like, okay, you okay, you wouldn't do the

  154. same thing we did anymore because you've changed the way you think about it.

  155. You look at it. It's disgusting. This is exploiting somebody's cousin's sister,

  156. brother. Yeah, okay, this is bad the way you think. Meta.

  157. Noah, there's repentance. Repent I feel so bad. I watched it

  158. last night. It's no, it's I don't think the same way about it

  159. anymore. Amen. So repentance is changing the way you think by adopting how

  160. God thinks about everything? What does God think about money? We think the

  161. same way. What does God think about relationships? We think? They say,

  162. what does God think about spouse? What a God think about work?

  163. What does God think about money? What does God think about anything? We

  164. adopt the way He think about everything, and that becomes our mindset. It

  165. changes our life. Amen. That's why in Philippines two five, he says,

  166. in your lives you must think and act like Christ. Jesus must think

  167. and act like Christ. Jesus everybody. Okay, you look too serious?

  168. Ah, do I need to tell some jokes? Huh? Okay, cool,

  169. you must think and act like Jesus Christ. Okay, So Christianity,

  170. discipleship, this thing we're trying to do here and live out here is not

  171. just a religion. It's not just a philosophy. I know I'm talking about

  172. thinking, but it's not just a philosophy. It's not just a way of

  173. thinking. It's a relationship and a lifestyle that is developed by the way God

  174. thinks. So if is so much to do with our minds, if we

  175. have to fix this mind in order to fix our life, Okay, let's

  176. address the problems with our mind. What is the problem in our mind?

  177. Next live? Please see If our mind had no problem, God would have

  178. pointed it out right. God, God would not say something like, don't

  179. worry about tomorrow. If we don't worry about tomorrow. The problem is we

  180. all worry about tomorrow. We all worry about mostly things we have no control

  181. off, like tomorrow, like what our kids will do when they go over

  182. season, and yeah, without us and all these things. God knows.

  183. That's why he says don't worry. He knows your fears, he says,

  184. don't fear. He knows our minds are messed up. That's why he said,

  185. we need our minds. So what's the problem in our mind? Okay?

  186. There are many people in our world today who think that the problem with

  187. our mind is that it doesn't have access to all the knowledge that he needs.

  188. Our brains don't know enough. We don't have enough knowledge. If only

  189. I know the Bible more, then O will be more spiritual. For example,

  190. if only I knew the ways to be prosperous, you know, then

  191. I will be a rich person. We think the problem of mind is that

  192. it doesn't have enough access to information or knowledge, or maybe we think it's

  193. therefore therefore, we think, maybe the is The solution is education. The

  194. more we learn, the smarter we will be, the better we'll be at

  195. life. We think that that's our problem with our mind, so therefore feed

  196. it with more information. It can happen in church too. We think that

  197. if we just listen to enough sermons, you know, the the the more,

  198. the more American, the better, or I don't know what, the

  199. more and more the better, and then we'll become better. We think that

  200. we think the problem of mine is information knowledge, education, and so we

  201. think to fix it is to learn more, hear more, listen more.

  202. But the Bible has a more profound analysis of our problem. So Effesions four

  203. twenty three says, be renewed in the spirit of your mind. Some say

  204. spirit. What on earth is the spirit of your mind? Mine is mind?

  205. Spirit? That one? What is it? But Paul talked about the

  206. spirit of your mind, and then yeah, what the world is this the

  207. spirit of mind? It means at least there's a at least this that the

  208. human mind is not just some sophisticated AI or authentic intelligence or computer. There

  209. is a supercomputer's managing data and then processes this data and then sends this data

  210. to the heart and then the feels what he feels. No, it's not

  211. just a machine. It means that our mind has a spirit. Somebody say

  212. spirit. In other words, our mind has this thing called a mindset.

  213. It has a spirit, It has a mindset. It means that our mind

  214. doesn't just have a view It has a viewpoint. Demissa, we all can

  215. look and see different. So Isaac and Aidan can look at the same girl.

  216. Which guy you want to look at? Me? I'm not a girl.

  217. This is your turns not to confess. Whicl you want to see Jeffrey

  218. okay? Cool? So he made Isaac and Aidan can look at Jeffrey and

  219. go Jeff, Jeff sorry Jeff, and go ada go Wow, he's good

  220. looking. I want to grow up and be like him. I know this

  221. perfect weight, perfect shape. I love it. I want to be like

  222. Jeff is said my goal? Are you blind? You call that good looking?

  223. Let me show you good looking? And you know, take a selfie

  224. of himself or something. Right. They are both looking at the same person,

  225. but they're seeing very different things. One seeing him as some wow,

  226. some goal to reach, and another one is like whoa, whoa, whoa,

  227. hands off? Right it happens. We all look, but don't see.

  228. We all have the same where we have the same view. We're looking

  229. at the same thing, we're listening to the same sumon, but we have

  230. a different viewpoint. We see it from a different angle. The spirit of

  231. our mind. So that means our mind doesn't just have the power to perceive

  232. and detect, but our minds has a posture, a spirit, a demeanor,

  233. a bearing, an attitude, a bent Because the spirit of our mind.

  234. Our mind has a spirit, it has attitude. It's not just machine

  235. ones and zeros. It's got an attitude. Amen, So we needs to

  236. it's not just some ones and zeros and just code it and then it just

  237. changes. It's got resistance. He's got attitude. It's got like I don't

  238. want this. No, don't try to change me. Don't don't. It's

  239. got attitude. And Paul says, we need to do not just renew the

  240. mind. But we knew the spirit of your mind. Are you okay?

  241. So far? And then we saw this. We see this in Romans one

  242. eight. Romans one today says this. And since they did not see fit

  243. to acknowledge God, God gave them up to a debates mind to do what

  244. not to be done? Kind of like God gave up on some people who

  245. will not change their mind about God. Their mind is totally against God.

  246. In rebelling against God, God's like, okay, La, just just I

  247. will just leave it to you, okay. But this is who we are

  248. by nature. We're all born into a nature of sin. By nature,

  249. we are in rebellion against God. We don't think like God. We don't

  250. naturally think like God. Amen. We don't. That's how we have to

  251. be renewed. We do not see God as someone worthy of knowing well and

  252. not someone we treasure above all things. If you're really honest with ourself.

  253. And here's the elephant, right, we say, as Christians, we've been

  254. trained and groomed to say all the right hallelujahs at the right time, all

  255. the right amens at the right time. Right, see all the right things

  256. right. Thursday Nights, Now we have devotion with the youth on discord thirty

  257. minutes, nine thirty to ten. If your kids haven't told you yet,

  258. now you know. Ten Thursday Nights we for a thirty minute devotion. We

  259. just go straight into the word. No games, so nothing. You just

  260. goes straight into one worship song. We talk about the word. Last Thursday,

  261. we asked the question what do you value most in life? I mean,

  262. you hear a question like that, the Christian, you go better say

  263. God, my family, All these things we will say, but I challenge

  264. them, Hey, let's not just give all the right answers. Let's give

  265. real answers. What do you really mostly? For example, if there was

  266. a fire in your house, okay, and you're just in time, to

  267. be able to run in to grab something. Who would you grab first?

  268. Because that would say something right, That will say something right? What you

  269. value most harmony? If you were going there and grab your bible. Ah.

  270. But then you're complete saying, oh I look got the most hard what

  271. a god? But you grin there and grab your phone first or something,

  272. you grab your golf bag, or going in there and grab your coach back

  273. your Michael, cause I don't know. He will say something about us.

  274. Right, there's a fire, you're run into the house. You can grab

  275. one day, you get your rubber duck. No one, no do that,

  276. your cattle? No man? What do you value most? So God

  277. is telling us our natural minds, we don't value God most. We don't.

  278. We don't naturally do that. We don't naturally get up and want to

  279. pray. There's so most of the time it's called it discipline. Yeah,

  280. and so God says, okay, there's this battle in the mind Romans one

  281. twenty three, and they exchange the glory of the immortal God for images resembling

  282. mortal man and birds and animals and creeping things. See this is called idolatry.

  283. We've replaced the real God with false gods, and the false gods can

  284. be anything can be black, pink can be, pokemon can be tailors,

  285. sweet, your Instagram will come, your job, someone's even our own children

  286. can become bad if you're not careful women. This is what human being does.

  287. We now fall in mind, we replace the immortal good with mortal images.

  288. And for some of us, and for many of us, if we

  289. care to be honest, the mortal image we worship most is the one we

  290. see in the mirror. That's the one we worship most, right, I

  291. mean, just think about the time you spend the last one week. What

  292. do you do? Some of you did your hair, you went to salon,

  293. some of you went shopping. You bought a new belt, I don't

  294. know. So you went online and uh pick for robots. You bought a

  295. game or you I don't know, you bought a book because you want to

  296. fied your mind, study or so many things we did? How many of

  297. those things? Actually it's invested into your spirit. Most of it, most

  298. of it, if you're honest, even myself, right, most of it

  299. is I of physical body because we worked out, or maybe our mind because

  300. we read a book, or we did research and A lot of it is

  301. got to do with just the self, right, And it's why God says,

  302. hey, we have exchange real, the real God, with all these

  303. other lesser gods and deaths idolatry. So see, that's what's wrong with our

  304. minds. That's what our minds need to change, because already it's not naturally

  305. wired to behold the glory of the immortal God, and we behold the glory

  306. of something else, the one in the mirror or somewhere else. So we

  307. need to be renewed. Amen, Now is it any wonder now we'd be

  308. reading Romans twelve verse two, right, we haven't read twelve verse one.

  309. You can see what telve on one says. I beseech you. Therefore,

  310. how don't you use this language? I beseech you? Who police? I

  311. b sees you jan lasaman okay, I b seich you. I urge you.

  312. I use everything within me to encourage you. Friends, brother and sisters,

  313. please by the mercies of God, meaning because God has been so good

  314. to you. Because he's been so good to you, he's given you his

  315. mercy and grace, things you don't deserve. He's given you everything by virtue

  316. of that please love, please wall say, please present your body's living sacrifice

  317. holy acceptable to God. Which is your reasonable service. He's not even radical,

  318. living wrong. We think live for good so radical. No, the

  319. Bible says, what do you mean redical? It's the right thing to do.

  320. He's like, if the bread is wanting to gain, you pay and

  321. gain. Oh, you're so ridical. I paid money for bread. It's

  322. not so, it's it's reasonable. God is saying, I've done so much

  323. for your life. It's only reasonable. Reasonable you live for me. And

  324. this whole thing, this whole ver was one I can summarize himTo this one

  325. word, worship. All of life is about worship. Amen. And verse

  326. two is telling us you can't do this if you don't change your mind.

  327. You can't make all of your life into worship until God, if you don't

  328. change the way you think. If some of your days in the week is

  329. God cannot touch. And God can touch my Saturday. God can catch my

  330. Sunday and maybe Thursday nights too. But God can't touch the other day because

  331. that's mine. Then not all of life is worship. Worship is not the

  332. twenty minutes before at the beginning of the service, there's four songs, two

  333. songs, three songs, twenty songs. If you come from those churches,

  334. I don't know. It's not that singing is part of expressional worship. But

  335. worship is all of life. The Bible says presents your body as a living

  336. sacrifice, living sacrifices on them. You put it on the althar, you

  337. guts get you can crawl off. No, not today, God, maybe

  338. tomorrow. I was sacrificed myself constantly happen. This is a self discipline to

  339. put yourself on the altar every day. Okay, God, I'm yours at

  340. work, I'm yours. In class, I'm yours. When nobody is looking,

  341. I'm yours. How I spend my money is yours. How I don't

  342. spend money is yours. How I treat people, it's yours. How I

  343. treat the God that serves us every day is this worship. The aim of

  344. life is worship, and we cannot do it if we don't change the way

  345. we think. And seriously, if we are honest, we don't think like

  346. we should think, because there are still areas we just do not want God

  347. to touch. We're very protective over certain things. Amen. Again, I'm

  348. not I'm not asking you to be to open yourself up to abuse. You

  349. know, this is a lot of spiritual abuse in churches everywhere, right or

  350. we usually scout like concepts to guilt trip you into serving and giving, and

  351. I don't want to be like that. Get hold me, uncomfortable. This

  352. is not what I'm trying to say. I'm not trying to say give your

  353. life to the church where you know in just six days a week. Now

  354. you're not holy enough. No, yeah, you know holy because you're not

  355. the seven days a week. Uh, that's what I'm saying. I'm saying

  356. everything's worship. Everything. How you talk to your grap driver, it's worship.

  357. How to talk to your kids worship. Everything is worship. How do

  358. you treat your employees? Worship Gods's do everything. Everything means what I'm sorry,

  359. but everything. It's you. When you poop what you got, thiles

  360. always worship you know how you poop poo? Holy? Amen? Everything means

  361. everything. Amen. So we need God to renew our minds so that we

  362. can worship Jesus through our very lives. This is my point today. Why

  363. we need our minds renew and change is so that we can effectively worship Jesus

  364. through everything, not just through songs. Until this is renewed, we can't

  365. fully worship him, which is the point of life to worship Jesus. Amen,

  366. we know what is important because how we think affects how we feel and

  367. how we act, and how we act forms our lifestyle. All the sum

  368. of your behavior becomes your lifestyle. Yeah, your lifestyle lif styf could be

  369. like every Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday, I jog. That's your lifestyle because

  370. every Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday, you get up and you put on your

  371. shoes and you run your action. Some of your action becomes your lifestyle.

  372. Every month, every morning you wrote, you do that consistently. It's your

  373. lifestyle. So you want to change your lifestyle, you change the way you

  374. act, You change the way you act. You have to change the way

  375. you think. Now ultimately you get a you have healthy thinking, you have

  376. healthy lifestyle. Follow me so far. So we need God to renew our

  377. minds because that's how we can worship Jesus through our very life. Because how

  378. we think affects, how we act, and how we act forms our lifestyle.

  379. So if you want to live a lifestyle or worship, renew your minds.

  380. Worship God in spirit and in truth. That is to say, worship

  381. God both in your heart and in your mind. The hard part we can

  382. understand because with most of the time worship we feel like, oh I'm so

  383. touch God. Amen, hallelujah. Yes, now I'm challling. Just to

  384. worship God with our mind too. Worship God to the way we think about

  385. business, about family. Amen, Word God in spirit and in truth.
