Hey, you welcome to the Generation's Church podcast. We pray you will be
-
blessed by this message. Today I made the word of God both encourage and
-
challenge you to be all God purpose you to be. Now, let's dive
-
right in. Now we move on to the last two points of this message
-
of crossing over, consecrating and conquering the land that God is given to us.
-
Amen. Okay, So number one today or other it should be point
-
number four. Already point number four is take the first step. Now,
-
let's look at Joshua chapter three vers eight. There So God has been giving
-
instructions to the people who are to cross over through Joshua. And this is
-
the instruction you shall command the priests those days it's some people are the priests.
-
The rest are not. Today we are the royal priesthood. Amen.
-
So God is talking to you. Okay, josh to the three verse eight.
-
Okay, you shall command the priest who bear the out of the governant,
-
the priests who carry the presence of God. That's you. Today,
-
when you have come to the edge of the water of the Jordan, you
-
shall stand in the Jordan. Okay. Of course, this is a story
-
where the river Jordan, which is at that time flooded, flooded, so
-
it's very dangerous actually, because it looks calm on the surface, but the
-
current is very strong underneath. Okay, So God is saying, when you
-
come to the age, and I want you to cres cross over to the
-
other side. And here's this river between you and the other side. When
-
you reach the age, you need to step into it. You're asking someone
-
to like, Okay, I don't know what's is there a crocodile, Is
-
there some trap, How deep it is, how strong it's you don't know.
-
But God is saying, take the step and go into the river,
-
And of course the people did. Let's look at Joshatch of the three verse
-
thirteen to seventeen, and you shall come to pass as soon as the source
-
of the feet of the priests who bare the out of the Lord, the
-
Lord of all the earth, shall rest in the waters of the Jordan,
-
that the waters of the Jordan shall be cut off, the waters that come
-
down from upstream, and they shall stand as a heap the river open up.
-
And so it was when the people set out from their camp to cross
-
over Jordan, with the priests bearing the other of the Covenant of the people
-
of the Covenant before the people I think I want them are but you can
-
read them on yourself. Basically, they did so as the Lord said,
-
I I paid the first guy. The first guy like, oh, I'm
-
price number fifteen. I'm okay, I'm not the first guy. Like if
-
if it doesn't work out, okay, bye bye PRIs number one, Bye
-
bye Priece number two. It was nice to have you. Hope you enjoy
-
your time in generations or whatever. Okay, bye, Like who wants to
-
be Priest number one? And two? Flow the river. But it only
-
happened when they took the first step. For many of us here the first
-
step to change, which usually can be the hardest because you live a certain
-
way so long. To change can be difficult. It can be scary because
-
there is no guarantee that if you took this first step that things will definitely
-
change. Yes, there's no guarantee that even though you're in a new season
-
or a new church now, that you won't get hurt again. Can I
-
be real, There's no guarantee that your pastor won't offend you. I'm pretty
-
sure I've forgotten to shake someone's hand today. And I'm pretty sure, as
-
I was being stressed out chasing after my kids that I didn't smile at you.
-
Just now, pretty sure that happens. I hope you know. I
-
don't hate any of you, Okay, but it's going to happen. I'm
-
pretty sure that I'm gonna forget someone's birthday, aniversary, reply someone's text late,
-
or something like that. It's going to happen. There is no guarantee
-
just because you're in a new job now that things are gonna all work out
-
right, there's no guarantee. Yet. You have to take the first step.
-
Until you take the first step, there is no breakthrough. It starts
-
with the first step. Amen. So I just said, I remember when
-
I was a primary school kid. I was generally a very good kid.
-
I I live very near the school. It's like maybe three hundred farimeters away
-
from the school. I'm a good kid that never uses any bad words.
-
Okay, I only use bad words one year in my life, which is
-
standard. Two. Seriously, send one. I didn't kindergarten. I didn't
-
send it. Three onwards, I didn't and do now I don't. I
-
don't use bad words. But sener two, I went crazy all the tamil
-
bedwords, can beadwords, Continese bad words all came out. Okay, you
-
learn language, right, I learned learning all the bad words worse, then
-
you learn them, then you learn the any more names, so you can
-
put the bad words and anymore together. I call your friend that. Come
-
on. Isn't that how it works? In the bad words words? Okay?
-
Yeah, So I learned my time all that way out. I learned
-
all the numbers in the moon and another and okay and all that la okay,
-
but standard two, I I used all the bad words. And I
-
once wrote a little note with my teacher's name on it. Porn Davy,
-
I still remember. And I wrote a bad word with her name on it.
-
And it's just this is so fun. She found it. She she
-
pulled my ear, she twisted it, she pulled my side burns out.
-
She really tortured me and I because of one Davy. Thank God for her.
-
I never used bad words ever again. But I did something else.
-
I've never pulled things scolar before. See go. So I go to school.
-
My parents are dose style parents go to school. But one day I
-
had stomach problems. Okay, I really needed to take a dump I need
-
to take a dumb You know what take a dumb means, right, Okay,
-
this is the word those like let him cook kind of expressionally take it
-
dumb. So the thing is my school toilet. This is my smk larstile
-
klang. I don't know what your school toler was like, but my school
-
tolet is unusable. It is you do not go into the school dolet.
-
It's like you just don't go there. It's dangerous. All kinds of weird
-
things. There's there's demons in there. There's like human that behave like demons.
-
All kind of things are okay. We always imagine that if we go
-
to use the school toilet, some some hand will come out from the toller
-
point and grab us and pull us down. So I was, I was,
-
I was an eight years older. It's like, I'm not gonna use
-
a school do. I don't care how that's where I am. And then
-
I realized, wait, my house is less inviront of meters away I walk
-
to school, I'm gonna walk bay home and take a dump. But to
-
do that, I have to skip class. I have to sneak out of
-
the class, find a way to climb over the fence and run home and
-
do it. I did that. I sneak out of the class I went.
-
So I went to the back of the school, past the can team
-
because that's where the back door is. And I didn't have to climb the
-
fence, Thank god, there was a whole. So I crawled under the
-
fence, ran back home, did my business relief, put my pens back
-
on, came back into school, and like nothing happened. First time I
-
ever pointing Scholar. It never stopped after that. Those days there was this
-
arcade pay street fighter one twenty cents pay, so we will skip school to
-
go and do that. Okay, now, not a good example, but
-
it's an example. And until I did it for the first time, I
-
never dare do it. I never I would never imagine. And then suddenly
-
I did it for one time and became easier. After that, Pointing Scholar
-
was natural, normal, easy. Not a good example, but an example.
-
A lot of us here bound held back by our first step the river
-
are doing there too. Now I'm going to leave it to you to process
-
what your first step is in this season or your life. For some of
-
you, first step could just be I'm going to commit because I haven't committed
-
for a while. I've just been floating around. You know, I've been
-
dating this person they supposed to be asking me when are we gonna actually marry,
-
and you're like, oh, let's see how as a lot leads,
-
I'll pray about it all right. So for some of us, the first
-
step is just too okay, I'm committed, this is it. I'm gonna
-
stay in this job for at least two years and not every single day of
-
the new job looking for a better job. So your heart is not there.
-
Why you mentioned coming to work waiting for this better one to come,
-
and you know how your heart is not there. So for some of you,
-
the first step could be as simple as I'm just going to commit.
-
For some of you, I don't know. The first step is to step
-
into the unknown, to do something you've never done before, something that maybe
-
speak to someone you're never spoken before. You said, okay, first step,
-
what is your first step? First step? For some of you,
-
your first step could be picking up the phone and saying sorry. You usually
-
know who you need to say sorry to, you just can't bring yourself to
-
do it now. Again, there is no guarantee that if you say sorry,
-
you get your money back. There's no guarantee. Then you say sorry,
-
everything will feel great. But it's the first step. I told you,
-
right, Joshua, first step, River Open Cross. Still have to
-
fight, you know, three more major military campaigns before they actually got the
-
land. So don't be food. Oh I took my first step a day.
-
How come have what happened yet? But if you don't take your first
-
step, it will definitely not happen. Can I say something quick with you?
-
I have a weakness? Okay, I have many weaknesses. Sorry,
-
how can I be so? Said? You know I've got any waknesses.
-
I won't tell you about one of them. I text and drive. I
-
drive and I text and it's bad and it's wrong and I shouldn't do it.
-
I'm taking my first step today. I'm telling you I have this problem.
-
I endanger my family because sometimes I drive very fast and text anyway wrong.
-
It's bad, it's a crime. I shouldn't do it. I endanger
-
my family, my young children, my wife. Someone brought it up to
-
me last night and said, hey, what are you gonna do about it?
-
The question was, you know it's wrong, what are you going to
-
do about it? This is my first step. All of you, now
-
do your words hold me accountable. You're in my car, usually your young
-
person. Now you're in my car. I touched my phone to text.
-
You say, pastor, I know already make it's simple for you. I
-
know you wouldn'tdare to say so many words. Pastor, you shouldn't text a
-
driver. But any of you seeing my car, you see me touch my
-
phone to text, you just say pasta or no, pastor? Who?
-
So what's so great? Just yo, bro? This is my first step.
-
I couldn't answer the question what do you do about it? I'm like,
-
yeah, most of us that we realize, we realize the mistake,
-
we realize the wrong. How to change? Is there any guarantee that I
-
will never text again when I drive? I hope not. I'm speaking as
-
if I'm the only person in this room that text and drive. Flower,
-
You're all done right. None of you do right. None of you ever
-
do right. So I'm the only one that's fine. So therefore all of
-
you have the right to keep me accountable. This is my first step to
-
be open with you all about my weakness and say, keep me accountable.
-
If I have to text, I will stop my car and text, which
-
means we may only get to you camp six hours later. No, but
-
I have to do this. I can't think of any of the way I
-
can say to myself. Okay, I can tell my wife I'll never do
-
this again. I don't know. I just felt like wake up this morning.
-
Go No. No, I have to take it to another level.
-
I would tell the whole church this is my weakness because some of you are
-
going to keep my car one, keep me accountable. This is my first
-
step. I want to change. What's yours? What's yours? What first
-
step will you take today? No, I'm not saying first step is guarantee.
-
First step is first step, and then you cross over and then it's
-
still a means to fight. It's a small thing, I know. I
-
texting and driving, Yes, they are bigger issues. I just I can't
-
watch all my detiliens. Here are just ins, just a real life illustration
-
that I'm going through for real. I don't want to justify it. It's
-
wrong. I shouldn't do it. She should. Why am I saying this?
-
Because it's important to be accountable? You know why we don't change?
-
Because all here I'm gonna change. But nobody knows about it. Who's gonna
-
ask you, who's gonna ask you about it, who's gonna keep you accountable?
-
It's important, do you know? It's not just a spiritual principle.
-
As psychologists, they've done research, They have research to prove it statistics.
-
If somebody else knows about the problem that you're facing, the likelihood of you
-
changing is higher. And not only that, you actually feel better. That's
-
why people want to share the problems because the just the knowledge that somebody else
-
knows what I'm going through psychologically, it actually gives you strength to face it
-
another day. Who created the psychology psychology? Anyway? God? God created
-
our mind or spirital soul. Right, So of course the principle is there,
-
Confession is good if we confess our sins, God is faithful and just
-
to forgive us. But did you know that as a scripture that also says,
-
I think it's the same book, confess your sins to one another,
-
that you may be healed. Confess to one another that you may be healed.
-
Accountability. Amen. So I'm not just saying take the first step.
-
I'm saying take the first step. Name the first step, tell somebody about
-
it. He says someone you need to forgive. He says something you need
-
to let go. There's something you need to take on with courage. So
-
we move on to the next point. We said the last instruction God gave
-
to John Josh the three verse five, and Josh say to people, centify
-
yourselves. Why for tomorrow, the new day? The next day, the
-
Lord will do wonders among you. God won't bring a new day to do
-
all things right, new wine, new wine, skin. I don't know
-
if you feel in your spirit, but I do. God's God wants to
-
do amazing things. But we need to take the first step. But we
-
also need to centify ourselves. What is centify ourselves? The word centify means
-
set apart. The words set apart means holy. I know we think of
-
holy as if I okay, can you think of a picture? When I
-
say holy? What do you think of? Let me maybe maybe ask the
-
leading question, what color have you thought of? White? Right? Okay?
-
If the color is a cloth, a badjo, is it long or
-
short? Usually a rope a wedding gown. See needs a picture of holiness?
-
White rope, perfection, perfection. Never had a bad thought, never
-
Text and drive only person and d H no, none of us do holy,
-
no wonders, So how to be holy? No wonder? Nobody wants
-
to be holy. That's a picture of holiness that I think maybe Hollywood painted
-
for us, because how to make a Disney movie If the bad guy is
-
not very bad and the good guy's not very good, I have to make
-
it very clear. So the children are bad good? Okay, follow good.
-
But holiness just means set apart. But that's a simplified version. Set
-
apart for what, set apart for a purpose. See, that's holiness.
-
That means if you centify yourselves, if you make yourself you want to be
-
holy. That means you set yourself for a purpose. Not that purpose,
-
this purpose you get, you get a picture. I've set myself apart for
-
this purpose, therefore not that. So if I go there, I'm unholy.
-
Not because I use the bad word, not because I wear miniskirt or
-
God forbid, not because I watch porn. That's that's holy too, And
-
I'll tell you why not because porn is porn, because that's what That's not
-
what your eyes are for. That's not what your mouth is for. God
-
did not create your mouth to speak bad words, And so when you use
-
bad words, it's unholy, not because of the words, like what makes
-
the word bad? Because for example, the word bhutto over here is wait
-
you go to Indonesia. But the past of preaching in his massare fifteen that
-
you'll say the word buto it means what it means true, it means malalu.
-
It's like malaluis so a bad word in one language, it's not a
-
bad word in another language. Spell exactly the same, sounds the same.
-
So how who is to what is bad words? So that's why it's never
-
about the words. It's not what goes into the mouth of defouls. The
-
man is what comes out of the mouth. Where did the word come from?
-
That's why why is the point you f you but I didn't say the
-
word I already say ha ha ha. I didn't say the word no.
-
But you thought it. You thought it and God saw it. So you've
-
got had a record. It's there. Centify yourself means holiness, holiness being
-
set apart for a purpose. This is a microphone. I love this illustration.
-
This is a microphone. It was designed and created for a purpose.
-
Was the purpose amplify voice Every chip, every diode, every cable, every
-
wire, every single part was designed for this one purpose, amplified voice.
-
Yes, and if I didn't know better, I saw this mind I say,
-
looks like an ice cream. Must be an ice cream. Let me
-
lick it like an ice cream. Taste a bihun Mmmm Wow kuba because somebody
-
else ate it just now and used it. Wow, this ice cream very
-
nice. There is permanent it never malts. I love this ice cream.
-
Wow, smells funky, but I love this ice cream. What have I
-
done to the microphone? I've unholyfied it? Why because of my sliber I
-
dirtified it? No, because I use a microphone. There is meant to
-
amplify voice, but I used it as food instead. You got saying the
-
dirty is not the sliver. The dirty is that I have abused this purpose,
-
abuses, abnormal use. This is a microphone. It's meant to amplify
-
woys And when I use it to emplify voice, then I'm making this microphone
-
holy? What are your lives for? What is your life designed to do?
-
Who are you created to be? God is saying, centify yourself,
-
don't be tempted to be somebody else? To do something else. That will
-
also mean on the passive side, that means if you have that missa,
-
is this my if this my girlphone is meant to amplify voice, and all
-
it does is live in the cabinet because it's so expensive. It's not like,
-
by the way, we pot a cheap one, but you know it's
-
so expensive, let's not use it, let's just preserve it. It's also
-
unholy because it's not meant to be in the cabinet, is not meant to
-
be silent. So if you have a gift that you're not using by this
-
definition, that's unholy too. You get what I'm saying. If you're meant
-
to love, but you will hold your love, that's an unholy act.
-
The Bible says, husband, love your wife. So if the husband with
-
whole love from the wife, the husband has been a holy why. Oh
-
of course he used the bad word on her. No he didn't. He
-
went health love, and therefore he's become an holy why because it's not the
-
purpose he was created for. It's not the purpose why God brought this marriage
-
together. You know what I'm saying. So Bible says centify yourself. So
-
this word is going out to all of us here. The next thing we
-
need to discover is God, why am I here? What am I here
-
for? I don't just mean church, I mean what am I here for
-
in this relationship, in this company, in this city, in this nation.
-
But what can we do for the nation? Because God's heart is for
-
the nation? Amen. Centify yourself. Centify yourself means also remove the unholiness.
-
That means, oh gosh, so sorry. I've used the money you've
-
given me for the wrong purpose. It doesn't even have to be a crime.
-
It's just well, it was meant for missions, but you used it
-
for something else. You just made your money. And Holy you get what
-
I'm saying. Right, So, God, what is what is the purpose
-
of my life? And So when you come to God and say, God,
-
I'm about to take my first step, I'm gonna name my first step.
-
I'm gonna tell somebody about it. I have to. If you're serious
-
about change, you have to then take the first step. No guarantee,
-
but take the first step, and then the next step, and then the
-
next step. But as you go, what's happening in your heart is God,
-
centify me, Centify me. Your heart is not meant to carry unforgiveness.
-
It's not made for that. It's not made for that. So centify
-
yourself means God, it's so hard to forgive. God to help me.
-
God, to help me. God. It might take a day, it
-
might take a week, might take three months, two years, I don't
-
know, but go through the processing, say God, remove this from me.
-
Why Because God wants to do wonderful things and we don't want to be
-
a hindrance to what God wants to do. Amen, thank you for joining
