  5. Well, good morning.

  6. If you have your Bibles, and I hope you do, I want to invite you to join us in Daniel chapter 11.

    Daniel 11 chapter mention

  7. If you're a first-time guest, we're excited that you're here.

  8. We love that you're here.

  9. We're honored that you're here.

  10. At the end of the service, I'll be back here at our connections table.

  11. We'd love to be able to speak with you.

  12. We'd love to be able to shake your hand, answer any questions that you may have about our church,

  13. so please stop by there.

  14. We'd love nothing more than to be able to speak with you.

  15. A lot of things going on around the life of our church.

  16. Our men's ministry gathered a couple weeks ago.

  17. Our women's ministry gathered this past Friday night.

  18. Wonderful events, great times of fellowship, and there's even more that's coming up.

  19. So I want to make sure that you get involved and get connected.

  20. And then please, if you can, just fill out one of these cards.

  21. It's a great way for us, if we need to be able to get in touch with you, to be able to

  22. connect with you, to be able to pray for you, to be able to answer questions that you may

  23. have to fill this out.

  24. Then as you leave, this is for everybody.

  25. Drop it off in the basket underneath that exit sign.

  26. I hope you have a wonderful, wonderful Thanksgiving.

  27. I was telling a couple this morning that I got to experience first Thanksgiving yesterday.

  28. I get to experience second Thanksgiving today.

  29. And then I will get to experience third Thanksgiving on Thursday, which means that next Saturday,

  30. there's probably a fourth Thanksgiving that's going to happen.

  31. So if I show up next week in my sweatpants, just give me some grace.

  32. All right.

  33. But good time.

  34. I hope you have a wonderful, wonderful Thanksgiving with your family and your friends of who God's

  35. got in your life.

  36. And so this is all I'm going to say about what this week is.

  37. Okay.

  38. All right.

  39. If you're, if you're, if you're from the state of South Carolina, this week probably means

  40. a little something to you.

  41. See, see, Michelle, Michelle goes against everything that I was going to say.

  42. All right.

  43. So I've heard it classified that this week is, is hate week between South Carolina and Clemson.

  44. That, that in an ungodly manner, ungodly, you and I are to hate one another.

  45. If you're a Tiger fan or if you're a Gamecock fan, right?

  46. We're to hate one another.

  47. And I think that this week of all weeks, we don't need to experience hate.

  48. We need to experience unity, unity.

  49. Because we're both at the bottom, right?

  50. And in bottom, we're both, the boat is going down.

  51. And we'll tread water and you'll tread water and Jesus loves you.

  52. Let's get the band to come back up on stage.

  53. No, have fun this week.

  54. Have fun this week.

  55. Carolina fans, love your Clemson friends and Clemson family.

  56. Clemson people love us, all right?

  57. We're hurting.

  58. We're hurting.

  59. It's tough.

  60. It's tough.

  61. But it's been years of struggle, you know?

  62. And if you're here today, I just want to say, if you're here today and you do not care anything about that game, let me just say, good for you.

  63. Good for you.

  64. And that is where I long to be, all right?

  65. I want to do something a little different this morning.

  66. I was riding into the office.

  67. Normally, this is the part during the message where I read a passage of Scripture and then we pray as we prepare to go into the sermon.

  68. But I was listening to one of my favorite worship leaders, this guy by the name of Shane Bernard.

  69. And he does a thing where he sings a lot of the psalms.

  70. He puts them to music and he sings them.

  71. And as I was coming down two-notch, a song came on my playlist and it was Psalm 143.

  72. And I tell you guys, like, I'm not a great singer if my bad singing, if bad singing distracts you from worship, don't sit around me.

  73. But typically, like, when I'm in my car, like, I'm loud.

  74. I'm loud with the singing if I'm by myself.

  75. And this morning, it was just as I listened to the words, it was just a moment for me not even to sing, but to just listen to the heart of David, found in Psalm 143.

  76. And to allow the truth of that to be spoken over me.

  77. So here's what I would like to do as we go into our time in God's Word.

  78. I'd like for you to bow your heads and close your eyes.

  79. And I would like to read over you the prayer of David, found in Psalm 143.

  80. Hear my prayer, O Lord.

  81. Give ear to my pleas for mercy.

  82. In your faithfulness, answer me.

  83. In your righteousness, enter not.

  84. Into judgment with your servant.

  85. For no one living is righteous before you.

  86. For the enemy has pursued my soul.

  87. He has crushed my life to the ground.

  88. He has made me sit in darkness like those long dead.

  89. Therefore, my spirit faints within me.

  90. My heart within me is appalled.

  91. I remember the days of old.

  92. I meditate on all that you have done.

  93. I ponder the work of your hands.

  94. I stretch out my hands to you.

  95. My soul thirsts for you like a parched land.

  96. Answer me quickly, O Lord.

  97. My spirit fails.

  98. Hide not your face from me.

  99. Lest I be like those who go down to the pit.

  100. Let me hear in the morning of your steadfast love.

  101. For in you I trust.

  102. Make me know the way I should go.

  103. For to you I lift up my soul.

  104. Deliver me from my enemies, O Lord.

  105. I have fled to you for refuge.

  106. Teach me to do your will.

  107. For you are my God.

  108. Let your good spirit lead me on level ground.

  109. For your name's sake, O Lord, preserve my life.

  110. In your righteousness, bring my soul out of trouble.

  111. And in your steadfast love, you will cut off my enemies.

  112. And you will destroy all the adversaries of my soul.

  113. For I am your servant.

  114. God, we speak your word to you in prayer.

  115. Revive us, O God.

  116. In Jesus' name we pray.

  117. Amen.

  118. Amen.

  119. Fifteen weeks ago, we started in our journey in Daniel.

  120. And this week is our next to last.

  121. Next week we will conclude.

  122. And then we will go into our Christmas series.

  123. And if you've been with us and you've been journeying with us each and every week,

  124. you know that we saw in the first six chapters of Daniel is the historical account of the man Daniel

  125. and what God was doing in Daniel's life and those around him.

  126. And then as we enter into chapter seven, what we begin to see is the prophetic piece of Daniel,

  127. which is very interesting because what we find in the first six chapters of Daniel

  128. are Daniel's ability to interpret dreams.

  129. But then as we move forward, we see Daniel as the prophet that God has equipped him and called him to be.

  130. And over the last several weeks, just being frank with you,

  131. if I felt like anytime you study God's word, right, yes and amen,

  132. it is a wonderful exercise that God takes us through,

  133. a wonderful exercise of growing us and strengthening us and studying his word.

  134. And even though that now at this point in time, it's hard to believe,

  135. but I've been preaching God's word now for 23 years.

  136. Every time I open his word, it is a wonderful exercise.

  137. And God grows me in only the way that God can in spite of me and in spite of myself or who I am.

  138. But I'm going to be honest with you guys, these last several chapters feels like God's taken me out on an ultra marathon.

  139. And the deepness and complexity of the beauty of his word has been absolutely difficult and wonderful

  140. at the same time to get in and study.

  141. As we get into Daniel 11 this morning, I don't want to try to hide this from you.

  142. Daniel 11 is an extremely complicated passage of scripture.

  143. In fact, one of the authors that I read this week said, and I quote,

  144. Daniel 11 is unpreachable.

  145. So here's been my prayer for you guys all week,

  146. that you do not agree with him at the end of this message.

  147. Daniel 10 through 12 is a unit.

  148. And this is what it gives us.

  149. It gives us that there's roughly 400 years of history

  150. between the end of the Old Testament and the beginning of the New Testament,

  151. which is known as the silent years.

  152. Daniel 10 through 12 and a lot of the prophecy that is there gives us certain events that will take place during that time.

  153. And what is remarkable is that this passage actually contains the most fulfilled prophecies,

  154. historically speaking, that have already happened in the course of our world.

  155. So that what we can do, and it's what we are going to do to some degree,

  156. is look at what God reveals to Daniel, the prophetic word that he gives him,

  157. and that you and I can look back into the pages of history and see,

  158. oh yeah, this absolutely did take place.

  159. This isn't speculation.

  160. This isn't the what ifs.

  161. That what God said would happen is what happened,

  162. and Daniel was faithful to record it.

  163. And so this is what we'll look at and see for most of chapter 11,

  164. and then at the very end, there'll be some five application points or questions

  165. to kind of drive home for us.

  166. So last week when we found Daniel in chapter 10,

  167. he's frustrated and he's defeated.

  168. He's had enough.

  169. He's sick and tired.

  170. He's at a spot of his relationship with God is as strong as Daniel's relationship with God,

  171. but yet Daniel is at a point of frustration with his people, with God's people.

  172. You see, because Daniel was reading in the book of Jeremiah,

  173. and he saw where God's people who were in Babylonian captivity

  174. would be kept for their land for 70 years,

  175. but that 70 years has come to an end.

  176. In fact, we see that in the first year of Darius,

  177. that the announcement has made that the Jewish people can return to their land.

  178. And if you're thinking, well, both, that should make Daniel excited.

  179. But the problem with that making Daniel excited is only about 4% returned.

  180. The rest had settled into their new pagan life, their new pagan lifestyle.

  181. And Daniel, who's roughly about 85, 86, 87 years old, during this time,

  182. it is broken for the people's disobedience.

  183. And he's been pleading with God to forgive them and to restore them.

  184. And God is extending his grace upon grace upon grace.

  185. And the people are ignoring and ignoring and ignoring.

  186. And this has been the battle that we see all the way back to in Deuteronomy,

  187. where God tells his people, right, you are my people.

  188. But if there's this disobedience that's there,

  189. if there's this disobedience for me,

  190. then I'm going to work and I'm going to allow and I'm going to cause

  191. and I'm going to create these difficulties for you

  192. so that you'll return to me, that you'll repent to me.

  193. But as hard-headed as they are, they're not getting it.

  194. And so what God is going to give for Daniel in this is a prophetic vision

  195. about how God is going to keep his people under conflict,

  196. that God's going to keep his people scattered

  197. with a hope of bringing them back to repentance.

  198. Bringing them back to repentance.

  199. Folks, one of the largest misunderstandings that you and I have about repentance

  200. is that repentance is the punishment.

  201. Folks, repentance isn't the punishment.

  202. Repentance is the healing.

  203. As we take all that is broken, all that is messed up,

  204. and we bring it before a holy God

  205. who our sin is repulsive to him.

  206. Every bit of it.

  207. He is perfect and holy and good and righteous

  208. and we are none of those things.

  209. But in repentance, we can come to him.

  210. And in forgiveness, we experience his grace and his mercy.

  211. But they won't listen.

  212. So God gives Daniel this vision.

  213. So if you would join me, we're going to read the first four verses of Daniel chapter 11.

    Daniel 11 chapter mention

  214. It says,

  215. And as for me, in the first year of Darius the Mede,

  216. I stood up to confirm and strengthen him.

  217. And now I will show you the truth.

  218. Behold, three more kings shall arise in Persia,

  219. and the fourth shall be far richer than all of them.

  220. And when he has become strong through his riches,

  221. he shall stir up all against the kingdom of Greece.

  222. Then a mighty king shall arise,

  223. who shall rule with great dominion and do as he wills.

  224. And as soon as he has arisen,

  225. his kingdom shall be broken and divided toward the four winds of heaven,

  226. but not to his posterity nor according to the authority with which he ruled,

  227. for his kingdom shall be plucked up and go to others besides these.

  228. So if you'll pause with me,

  229. let me explain to you of what we're seeing in the prophecy that is given to Daniel.

  230. What's given to Daniel is the prophecy of two kingdoms.

  231. These kingdoms have been referred to previously.

  232. Off the top of my head, I believe this is what was mentioned there in Daniel chapter 7.

    Daniel 7 chapter mention

  233. And what we see is following Darius, historically speaking and prophetically speaking as well,

  234. that there'll be three more kings and that a fourth will arise.

  235. And guess what?

  236. History confirms that.

  237. That when we look at the pages of history in the Medo-Persian empire,

  238. we see that following Darius, there was the first that ruled from 530 to 522 BC.

  239. We see that the second ruled in 522 BC and that year alone.

  240. And then the third ruled from 522 to 486 BC.

  241. And then the fourth comes.

  242. The fourth of the greatest of all the Medo-Persian kings that will come to rule.

  243. And his name is Xerxes.

  244. And he becomes more powerful.

  245. And his powerful status creates within him goals that previous kings had set their eyes on

  246. but would never accomplish.

  247. But he decides within himself that he is going to go after Greece.

  248. That he is going to go after Greece.

  249. And then in 480 BC, he will attempt to invade Greece, but he's defeated.

  250. And in that, his empire will come to an end.

  251. And what we find between verses 2 and 3 is a gap.

  252. That God's word doesn't give us everything,

  253. but that what God's word does give us speaks to what is true.

  254. There's a gap.

  255. There's about a 150-year gap between verse 2 and verse 3.

  256. And verse 3 describes the mighty king of Greece that we would come to know as Alexander the Great.

  257. He would conquer, if you know your history, you know that Alexander the Great,

  258. through his military might and his cunning ways, would conquer the known world.

  259. He would conquer from Greece to India, from north to south into Egypt.

  260. And this is exactly what takes place.

  261. But at 39 years old, he dies.

  262. And what happens during this, due to death and murders and the things that happen and take place,

  263. whenever there's a void of power within these kingdoms,

  264. that there would be no one from his lineage to take the throne.

  265. And so as God's word says that his kingdom would be divided by the winds of heaven,

  266. north, south, east, and west.

  267. And we see that from history confirms that.

  268. In the west, we have the Greek.

  269. In the east, we have Asia Minor.

  270. In the north, we have Syria.

  271. And in the south, we'll have Egypt.

  272. And then what God is going to do and work is that God is going to use this kingdom

  273. as God divided the kingdom.

  274. And he's going to use the kingdom over the next 15 verses to work in the life of Israel.

  275. To work in the nation of Israel amongst God's people

  276. as God works and moves in the way that only God can.

  277. So over these next 15 verses, let me give you kind of a sneak peek into some of this.

  278. That when it talks about the kingdom of the north, that's Syria.

  279. And when it talks about the kingdom of the south, that is Egypt.

  280. And we will see how they begin to play out.

  281. So read with me verses 5 through verses 20.

  282. Then the king of the south shall be strong.

  283. But one of his princes shall be stronger than he and shall rule.

  284. And his authority shall be great authority.

  285. After some years, they shall make an alliance.

  286. And the daughter of the king of the south should come to the king of the north to make an agreement.

  287. But she shall not retain the strength of her arm.

  288. And he and his arm shall not endure.

  289. But she shall be given up.

  290. And her attendants, he who fathered her and he who supported her in those times.

  291. And from a branch from her roots, one shall arise in his place.

  292. He shall come against the army and enter the forces of the king of the north.

  293. And he shall deal with them and shall prevail.

  294. He shall also carry off to Egypt their gods and their metal images and their precious vessels of silver and gold.

  295. For some years, he shall refrain from attacking the king of the north.

  296. Then the latter shall come into the realm of the king of the south but shall return to his own land.

  297. His son shall wage war and assemble a multitude of great forces which shall keep coming and overflow and pass through and shall carry the water as far as his fortress.

  298. Then the king of the south, moved with rage, shall come out and fight against the king of the north.

  299. And he shall raise a great multitude but it shall be given into his hand.

  300. And when the multitude is taken away, his heart shall be exalted.

  301. And he shall cast down tens of thousands but he shall not prevail.

  302. For the king of the north shall again raise a multitude greater than the first.

  303. And after some years, he shall come on with a great army and abundant supplies.

  304. In those times, many shall rise against the king of the south.

  305. And the violent among your people, your own people, shall lift themselves up in order to fulfill the vision.

  306. But they shall fail.

  307. Then the king of the north shall come and throw up siege works and take a well-fortified city.

  308. And the forces of the south shall not stand, or even his best troops.

  309. For there shall be no strength to stand.

  310. But he who comes against him shall do as he wills.

  311. And none shall stand before him.

  312. And he shall stand in the glorious land with destruction in his hand.

  313. He shall set his face to come with the strength of his whole kingdom.

  314. And they shall bring terms of an agreement and perform them.

  315. He shall give him the daughter of women to destroy the kingdom, but it shall not stand or be to his advantage.

  316. Afterwards, he shall turn his face to the coastlands and shall capture many of them.

  317. But a commander shall put an end to his insolence.

  318. Instead, he shall turn his insolence back upon him.

  319. Then he shall turn his face back toward the fortress of his own land.

  320. But he shall stumble and fall and shall not be found.

  321. Then shall arise in his place one who shall send an exactor of tribute for the glory of the kingdom.

  322. But within a few days he shall be broken, neither in anger nor in battle.

  323. So during this period of time that's discussed, Rome is the global power.

  324. The Roman Empire is on the scene.

  325. They are the empire of great influence in the world.

  326. But this passage will largely focus in on the conflict dealing between Egypt and Syria.

  327. God gives us this due to their relationship with Israel.

  328. Now, I listened to a guy this past week who walks through verses 5 through 20 and explains every little battle and detail that's there.

  329. And it took him three hours in order to get through all of that.

  330. And so prayerfully, I made the decision this week for you and I to not walk through three hours of this together.

  331. For time's sake, we can't explain every detail.

  332. But I want to give you a glimpse of what is happening because it's extremely important.

  333. Wars are happening.

  334. Wars are happening.

  335. People are trying to amass more.

  336. Greed is dominating.

  337. I need more land.

  338. I need more power.

  339. I need more people.

  340. I need more money.

  341. Here's something that is very interesting when we see this in the course of history.

  342. Look back at verse 6.

  343. After some years, this is one generation removed from Alexander the Great.

  344. They've been divided.

  345. After some years they shall make an alliance and the daughter of the king of the south from Egypt shall come to the king of the north to make an agreement.

  346. But she shall not retain the strength of her arm and he and his arm shall not endure but she shall be given up in her attendance.

  347. He who fathered her and he supported her in those times.

  348. Here is what we see that happens in the course of history.

  349. The leader of the section of the world that is Egypt, this king, this prince during this,

  350. decides in order to make a peace treaty, in order to gain power, to gain influence,

  351. that he is going to send his daughter to the north to marry the king.

  352. But unfortunately, he was already married.

  353. And in the conflict of what would happen, where it says right in through here, right,

  354. to make an agreement that she shall not retain the strength of her arm, of her marriage,

  355. she won't be given that.

  356. That instead, he and his arm, his wife.

  357. So his wife comes and says,

  358. Nuh-uh, not my man, right?

  359. Ends up killing her.

  360. And this is what we see.

  361. Here's the pattern that we see.

  362. Egypt attacks Syria.

  363. Syria attacks Egypt.

  364. Rinse and repeat.

  365. Rinse and repeat.

  366. Rinse and repeat.

  367. And for the first half of the time period, what we'll largely see is Egypt will win most of the battles.

  368. But then on verse 12, there's a shift in their global power for a time where they're battling,

  369. and Syria will win the battles.

  370. And during this time, Israelites will partner with the Syrians to battle the Egyptians.

  371. Well, in 198 B.C., 198 B.C., promise not much more history after this.

  372. In 198 B.C., the Egyptians suffered a massive loss to the Syrians.

  373. And as a result, Palestine would come under control of the Syrian empire.

  374. And during that time, there would be a Syrian king who would rule named Antichus Epiphanes.

  375. Antichus Epiphanes, who had an evil reign of terror.

  376. In fact, in the prophecy of Daniel 11, there's a pre-prophecy in verses 18 and 19, if you'll look at those with me, concerning his defeat.

  377. That we'll read about later on.

  378. Afterwards, he shall turn his face to the coastlands.

  379. This will be important.

  380. I promise we'll read.

  381. We'll see this in the next part.

  382. After this, he shall turn his face to the coastlands and shall capture them.

  383. But a commander, that's important, a commander shall put an end to his insolence.

  384. Indeed, he shall turn his insolence back upon him.

  385. And then he shall turn his face back toward the fortress of his own land.

  386. He'll flee.

  387. He'll flee.

  388. But he shall stumble and fall and shall not be found.

  389. And so it speaks to this once powerful, that Rome will send a general as he looks to attack the coastland of the Mediterranean.

  390. And in that, he is defeated.

  391. And in that, he is sent back.

  392. And it's where we begin to see, over and over again, the imagery of God's word playing true in history.

  393. And folks, this is important.

  394. And then what we'll find in verses, as we go through 11, 21 through 35,

  395. we'll give a description of the depravity of this epiphanies, of Antioch's epiphanies.

  396. And we'll see his depravity, but here we see his defeat.

  397. So we're going to read the rest of Daniel 11 here in just a moment.

  398. And it's broken up again in two sections.

  399. And I apologize for the seminary history lesson.

  400. But section 1, Daniel 11, 21 through 25, will deal with epiphanies.

  401. And I'm going to say this, and catch this with me, okay?

  402. And he is to serve as a type, a type of Antichrist.

  403. We'll see a depth of depravity that is within him that will play out into the imagery of the coming Antichrist.

  404. And then in verses 36 through 45, we will get a description of the eschatological Antichrist

  405. referred to in Daniel 7, Daniel 9, 2 Thessalonians, and Revelation 13.

  406. So let's read verses 21 through 25, and we'll begin to understand who this monster is.

  407. In his place shall arise a contemptible person to whom royal majesty has not been given.

  408. He shall come in without warnings and obtain the kingdom by flatteries.

  409. Armies shall be utterly swept away before him and broken, even the prince of the covenant.

  410. And from the time that an alliance is made with him, he shall act deceitfully,

  411. and he shall become strong with the small people.

  412. Without warning, he shall come into the richest parts of the providence.

  413. And he shall do whatever his, he shall do neither his fathers nor his father's fathers have done,

  414. scattering among them plunder, spoil, and goods.

  415. He shall divide plans against strongholds, but only for a time.

  416. And he shall stir up his power and his heart against the king of the south with a great army.

  417. And the king of the south shall wage war with an exceedingly great and mighty army,

  418. but he shall not stand, for plots have been devised against him.

  419. Even those who eat his food shall break him.

  420. His army shall be swept away, and many shall fall down slain.

  421. And as for the two kings, their hearts shall be bent on doing evil.

  422. They shall speak lies at the same table, but to no avail.

  423. For the end is yet to be at the time appointed.

  424. And he shall return to his land with great wealth, but his heart shall be set against the holy covenant.

  425. And he shall work his will and return to his own land.

  426. At the time appointed, he shall return and come into the south.

  427. But it shall not be at this time as it was before.

  428. For the ships of Ketem shall come against him.

  429. And he shall be afraid and withdraw, and shall turn back and be enraged and take action against the holy covenant.

  430. He shall turn back and pay attention to those who forsake the holy covenant.

  431. Forces from him shall appear and profane the temple and fortress,

  432. and shall take away the regular burnt offering,

  433. and they shall set up the abomination that makes desolate.

  434. He shall seduce with flattery those who violate the covenant,

  435. but the people who know their God shall stand firm and take action.

  436. The wise among the people shall make many understand,

  437. though for some days they shall stumble by sword and flame by captivity and plunder.

  438. When they stumble, they shall receive a little help,

  439. and they shall join themselves to them with flattery.

  440. And some of the wise should stumble,

  441. so that they may be refined, purified, and made white until the time of the end,

  442. for it still awaits the appointed time.

  443. Antichius Epiphanes is a monster.

  444. He's an absolute monster.

  445. He comes to power, not through election,

  446. not through family lineage,

  447. but as is spoken about in the prophetic word,

  448. which is spoken about in the course of history,

  449. he comes to power through smooth talking.

  450. He comes to power through lies and deceit.

  451. He comes to power by betraying himself to be something that he's not,

  452. and even early on throughout his reign,

  453. will gain land and treaty as a result of this.

  454. In 169 B.C.,

  455. he returned back to Syria following a war,

  456. and he found that there had been a Jewish insurrection

  457. that had been taking place.

  458. He didn't capture those who were involved.

  459. He didn't capture the group that was trying to rebel against him.

  460. Instead, he ended up killing 80,000,

  461. 80,000 men, women, and children

  462. to punish the nation

  463. for the insurrection that had taken place.

  464. And this would speak to

  465. how he would handle any threat of defeat

  466. that he would face.

  467. So in Daniel 1130

  468. speaks of a specific time

  469. where he was defeated.

  470. This is the part that connects us

  471. back with what we had just read

  472. at the end there in verse 18.

  473. Here's what happened.

  474. Antiochus decided once again

  475. to attack Egypt

  476. as he set his eyes

  477. on the coastland

  478. of the Mediterranean.

  479. And here's what happened.

  480. Once he decided to attack Egypt,

  481. Rome,

  482. the power of Rome,

  483. decided to help the Egyptians.

  484. Go back and read verse 30 again with me.

  485. For the ships of Ketem

  486. shall come against him

  487. and he shall be afraid

  488. and withdraw

  489. and turn back

  490. and be enraged

  491. and take action

  492. against the Holy Covenant.

  493. Here's what history tells us.

  494. That when Rome has the appeal

  495. from Egypt

  496. that this is what's going to happen,

  497. Rome sends a general,

  498. remember earlier in verse 18

  499. it says a commander,

  500. that's known as the fleet

  501. of Ketem

  502. and they go there

  503. and they defeat him

  504. and they humiliate him

  505. and he's forced to set his eyes

  506. back on his homeland

  507. and he's forced to return back.

  508. Well, here's the thing.

  509. He's not willing to say,

  510. you know what?

  511. I took my shot

  512. and I missed.

  513. He's not willing to say,

  514. you know what?

  515. They had more than I had

  516. and I need to learn my lesson

  517. and go back to where I came from.

  518. These aren't things

  519. that encapture his mind

  520. and instead he decides,

  521. even though there's not

  522. a single person of Israel

  523. who is fighting with him,

  524. that he will take out his anger.

  525. He will take out his defeat

  526. and instead he will punish

  527. the Jewish people.

  528. So here's a glimpse

  529. into what this man does.

  530. He sent mercenaries

  531. to Jerusalem

  532. who come waving the banner

  533. of peace

  534. only to attack on the Sabbath,

  535. their day of rest,

  536. their day of worship,

  537. and killed many

  538. and then looted the city,

  539. looted the temple.

  540. He then lied

  541. to the Jewish people,

  542. deceived the Jewish people,

  543. and convinced many

  544. to abandon their faith

  545. and follow him.

  546. He made all Jewish practices illegal.

  547. He made offering sacrifices,

  548. offerings,

  549. worship in the temple,

  550. prayer,

  551. reading of Scripture illegal.

  552. and if you were caught

  553. doing that,

  554. you were punished

  555. by death.

  556. Since they couldn't worship

  557. their God,

  558. he placed himself

  559. as God

  560. for them to worship him.

  561. He went into the temple

  562. and erected

  563. a statue

  564. of Zeus

  565. in ways

  566. to destroy

  567. the holiness.

  568. He sacrificed

  569. the pig

  570. on the altar,

  571. desecrating

  572. the altar,

  573. and forced

  574. the priest

  575. to eat

  576. the unclean

  577. meat.

  578. In the course

  579. of his tenure,

  580. he murdered

  581. tens of thousands

  582. of Jewish people.

  583. Praise God,

  584. there were those

  585. who stood against him.

  586. In 163 B.C.,

  587. he dies.

  588. And he serves

  589. what God

  590. is using him as,

  591. is he serves

  592. as a picture

  593. of what to come.

  594. We can look

  595. through the course

  596. of history

  597. and we can glance

  598. and we can see

  599. while we have not seen

  600. the Antichrist.

  601. We have seen

  602. those like

  603. an Antichrist.

  604. We see the power

  605. that they exude,

  606. the characteristics

  607. that they're

  608. desperate for

  609. and that fill

  610. within them.

  611. We see this

  612. with Epiphanes.

  613. We see this

  614. with Nero.

  615. In a lot of ways,

  616. we see this

  617. with Adolf Hitler.

  618. The depravity

  619. of the heart

  620. of the heart

  621. of man.

  622. And now,

  623. as we close

  624. verses 36-45,

  625. we'll see

  626. the prophecy

  627. that comes

  628. for the

  629. Antichrist.

  630. it says,

  631. and the king

  632. shall do

  633. as he wills.

  634. He shall

  635. exalt himself

  636. and magnify

  637. himself

  638. above every

  639. god

  640. and shall

  641. speak

  642. astonishing

  643. things

  644. against the

  645. god of

  646. gods.

  647. He shall

  648. prosper

  649. until the

  650. indignation

  651. is accomplished.

  652. For what is

  653. decreed

  654. shall be

  655. done.

  656. He shall

  657. pay no

  658. attention

  659. to the

  660. god

  661. of his

  662. fathers

  663. which is

  664. the one

  665. beloved

  666. by women.

  667. He shall

  668. not pay

  669. attention

  670. to any

  671. other god

  672. for he

  673. shall

  674. magnify

  675. himself

  676. above all.

  677. He shall

  678. honor the

  679. god

  680. of

  681. fortresses

  682. instead

  683. of these.

  684. Of

  685. god

  686. of whom

  687. his

  688. fathers

  689. did not

  690. know

  691. he shall

  692. honor

  693. with

  694. gold

  695. and

  696. silver

  697. and

  698. precious

  699. stones

  700. and

  701. costly

  702. gifts.

  703. He

  704. shall

  705. deal

  706. with

  707. the

  708. strongest

  709. fortresses

  710. with

  711. the

  712. help

  713. of a

  714. foreign

  715. god.

  716. Those

  717. who

  718. acknowledge

  719. him

  720. shall

  721. load

  722. with

  723. honor.

  724. He

  725. shall

  726. make

  727. them

  728. rulers

  729. over

  730. many

  731. and

  732. shall

  733. divide

  734. the

  735. land

  736. for

  737. a

  738. price.

  739. At

  740. the

  741. time

  742. of the

  743. end

  744. the

  745. king

  746. of the

  747. south

  748. shall

  749. attack

  750. him.

  751. But

  752. the

  753. king

  754. of the

  755. north

  756. shall

  757. rush

  758. upon

  759. him

  760. like

  761. a

  762. whirlwind

  763. with

  764. chariots

  765. and

  766. horsemen

  767. with

  768. many

  769. ships

  770. and

  771. he

  772. shall

  773. come

  774. into

  775. countries

  776. and

  777. shall

  778. overflow

  779. and

  780. pass

  781. through.

  782. He

  783. shall

  784. come

  785. into

  786. the

  787. glorious

  788. land.

  789. Folks,

  790. this is

  791. Israel.

  792. And

  793. tens

  794. of

  795. thousands

  796. shall

  797. fall

  798. but

  799. these

  800. shall

  801. be

  802. delivered

  803. out

  804. of

  805. his

  806. hand.

  807. Edom

  808. and

  809. Moab

  810. and

  811. the

  812. main

  813. parts

  814. of

  815. the

  816. Ammonites.

  817. He

  818. shall

  819. stretch

  820. out

  821. his

  822. hand

  823. against

  824. the

  825. countries

  826. and

  827. the

  828. land

  829. of

  830. Egypt

  831. shall

  832. not

  833. escape.

  834. He

  835. shall

  836. become

  837. the

  838. ruler

  839. of

  840. the

  841. treasures

  842. of

  843. gold

  844. and

  845. of

  846. silver

  847. and

  848. of

  849. the

  850. precious

  851. things

  852. of

  853. Egypt.

  854. And

  855. the

  856. Libyans

  857. and

  858. the

  859. Cushites

  860. shall

  861. follow

  862. in

  863. his

  864. train.

  865. But

  866. news

  867. from

  868. the

  869. east

  870. and

  871. the

  872. north

  873. shall

  874. alarm

  875. him.

  876. He

  877. shall

  878. go out

  879. with a

  880. great

  881. fury

  882. to

  883. destroy

  884. and

  885. devote

  886. many

  887. to

  888. destruction.

  889. And

  890. he

  891. shall

  892. pitch

  893. his

  894. palatial

  895. tents

  896. between

  897. the

  898. sea

  899. and

  900. the

  901. glorious

  902. holy

  903. mountain.

  904. Yet

  905. he

  906. shall

  907. come

  908. to

  909. his

  910. end

  911. with

  912. none

  913. to

  914. help

  915. him.

  916. We

  917. get a

  918. description

  919. of the

  920. Antichrist.

  921. And

  922. folks,

  923. I'll

  924. be

  925. honest

  926. with

  927. you.

  928. While

  929. I'm

  930. not

  931. trying

  932. to

  933. stand

  934. here

  935. and

  936. I'm

  937. not

  938. giving

  939. a

  940. prophetic

  941. word,

  942. it's

  943. not

  944. that

  945. I'm

  946. not

  947. trying

  948. to,

  949. I'm

  950. saying

  951. I'm

  952. not

  953. doing

  954. that,

  955. but

  956. when

  957. we

  958. look

  959. into

  960. the

  961. ungodly

  962. into

  963. the

  964. world,

  965. when

  966. we

  967. look

  968. into

  969. the

  970. ungodly

  971. of

  972. the

  973. leadership

  974. of

  975. the

  976. world,

  977. folks,

  978. these

  979. descriptions

  980. don't

  981. just

  982. limit

  983. themselves

  984. to

  985. biblical

  986. times.

  987. We

  988. see

  989. that

  990. he

  991. is

  992. self-willed

  993. and

  994. he

  995. will

  996. do

  997. whatever

  998. he

  999. pleases.

  1000. There

  1001. is no

  1002. submission

  1003. to

  1004. others

  1005. much

  1006. less

  1007. submission

  1008. to

  1009. God.

  1010. He

  1011. exalts

  1012. himself.

  1013. He

  1014. doesn't

  1015. just

  1016. see

  1017. himself

  1018. as

  1019. God-like,

  1020. he

  1021. sees

  1022. himself

  1023. as

  1024. a

  1025. God.

  1026. He

  1027. will

  1028. blaspheme

  1029. and say

  1030. outrageous

  1031. things

  1032. about

  1033. God,

  1034. but

  1035. in

  1036. this

  1037. all,

  1038. he

  1039. will

  1040. be

  1041. applauded,

  1042. he

  1043. will

  1044. be

  1045. looked

  1046. at

  1047. with

  1048. praise.

  1049. Why?

  1050. Because

  1051. he

  1052. will

  1053. be

  1054. successful.

  1055. He

  1056. will

  1057. attack

  1058. others

  1059. and

  1060. sweep

  1061. into

  1062. their

  1063. country.

  1064. He

  1065. will

  1066. invade

  1067. Israel

  1068. and

  1069. kill

  1070. many.

  1071. He

  1072. will

  1073. have

  1074. a

  1075. global

  1076. rule

  1077. for

  1078. a

  1079. while,

  1080. but

  1081. praise

  1082. God,

  1083. he

  1084. will

  1085. meet

  1086. his

  1087. end.

  1088. Very

  1089. end of

  1090. verse

  1091. 45.

  1092. Yet

  1093. he

  1094. shall

  1095. come

  1096. to

  1097. his

  1098. end.

  1099. in

  1100. preaching,

  1101. what you

  1102. have to

  1103. have is

  1104. explanation

  1105. and

  1106. application.

  1107. You see,

  1108. if it's

  1109. just

  1110. explanation,

  1111. it's

  1112. just a

  1113. teachable

  1114. lesson that

  1115. we gain

  1116. knowledge

  1117. and go

  1118. from.

  1119. But

  1120. God's

  1121. word

  1122. causes us

  1123. to take

  1124. his

  1125. word

  1126. and to

  1127. apply

  1128. his

  1129. word

  1130. and the

  1131. truth

  1132. of what

  1133. God

  1134. has

  1135. for us.

  1136. Multiple

  1137. times this

  1138. week,

  1139. I thought

  1140. this,

  1141. God,

  1142. why

  1143. did

  1144. you

  1145. give

  1146. us

  1147. this

  1148. passage?

  1149. Why

  1150. did

  1151. you

  1152. give

  1153. us

  1154. this,

  1155. that

  1156. we

  1157. would

  1158. have

  1159. this

  1160. today?

  1161. Well,

  1162. here's

  1163. some

  1164. application

  1165. that I

  1166. have

  1167. for you

  1168. in

  1169. closing.

  1170. What

  1171. does God

  1172. have

  1173. for us?

  1174. Number

  1175. one,

  1176. God

  1177. writes

  1178. history

  1179. before

  1180. it's

  1181. history.

  1182. God

  1183. writes

  1184. history

  1185. before

  1186. it's

  1187. history.

  1188. depending

  1189. on your

  1190. theological

  1191. view

  1192. when it

  1193. comes

  1194. to

  1195. history,

  1196. God

  1197. either

  1198. ordained

  1199. it

  1200. or

  1201. allowed

  1202. it.

  1203. But let

  1204. me say

  1205. based off

  1206. of what

  1207. the Bible

  1208. teaches

  1209. us is

  1210. either way

  1211. you look

  1212. at it,

  1213. God's

  1214. in

  1215. control.

  1216. God's

  1217. in

  1218. control

  1219. through

  1220. Alexander

  1221. the

  1222. Great.

  1223. God's

  1224. in

  1225. control

  1226. through

  1227. Xerxes.

  1228. God's

  1229. in

  1230. control

  1231. through

  1232. the

  1233. Babylonian

  1234. captivity.

  1235. That

  1236. what

  1237. we

  1238. see

  1239. all

  1240. throughout

  1241. in

  1242. the

  1243. book

  1244. of

  1245. Daniel,

  1246. what

  1247. we

  1248. see

  1249. all

  1250. throughout

  1251. the

  1252. course

  1253. of

  1254. what

  1255. God

  1256. brings

  1257. us

  1258. in

  1259. his

  1260. word

  1261. is

  1262. that

  1263. God

  1264. is

  1265. in

  1266. control

  1267. and

  1268. that

  1269. it

  1270. can

  1271. be

  1272. fearful

  1273. that

  1274. when

  1275. we

  1276. look

  1277. at

  1278. the

  1279. depth

  1280. of

  1281. depravity

  1282. that

  1283. is

  1284. in

  1285. the

  1286. world

  1287. around

  1288. us

  1289. and

  1290. we

  1291. can

  1292. be

  1293. succumbed

  1294. to

  1295. the

  1296. emotion

  1297. of

  1298. fear

  1299. that

  1300. is

  1301. there

  1302. instead

  1303. of

  1304. the

  1305. truth

  1306. that

  1307. we

  1308. have

  1309. that

  1310. God

  1311. is

  1312. in

  1313. control

  1314. and

  1315. God

  1316. doesn't

  1317. wait

  1318. to

  1319. think

  1320. about

  1321. what

  1322. history

  1323. will

  1324. be

  1325. that

  1326. God

  1327. sets

  1328. the

  1329. story

  1330. of

  1331. this

  1332. world

  1333. and

  1334. the

  1335. beauty

  1336. of

  1337. that

  1338. if

  1339. God

  1340. sets

  1341. the

  1342. story

  1343. of

  1344. this

  1345. world

  1346. then

  1347. praise

  1348. God

  1349. that

  1350. he's

  1351. got

  1352. a

  1353. story

  1354. for

  1355. me

  1356. and

  1357. praise

  1358. God

  1359. that

  1360. he

  1361. has

  1362. a

  1363. story

  1364. for

  1365. you

  1366. the

  1367. question

  1368. that

  1369. I

  1370. have

  1371. for

  1372. you

  1373. this

  1374. morning

  1375. is

  1376. this

  1377. whose

  1378. story

  1379. are

  1380. you

  1381. going

  1382. after

  1383. whose

  1384. story

  1385. are

  1386. you

  1387. going

  1388. after

  1389. Daniel

  1390. didn't

  1391. go

  1392. after

  1393. his

  1394. own

  1395. story

  1396. Daniel

  1397. went

  1398. after

  1399. the

  1400. story

  1401. of

  1402. God

  1403. of

  1404. what

  1405. God

  1406. had

  1407. for

  1408. him

  1409. of

  1410. what

  1411. God

  1412. desired

  1413. for

  1414. him

  1415. you

  1416. see

  1417. Daniel

  1418. could

  1419. have

  1420. counted

  1421. himself

  1422. as

  1423. much

  1424. but

  1425. Daniel

  1426. humbled

  1427. himself

  1428. before

  1429. the

  1430. Lord

  1431. Daniel

  1432. could

  1433. have

  1434. leveraged

  1435. himself

  1436. for

  1437. rule

  1438. but

  1439. instead

  1440. Daniel

  1441. wanted

  1442. to be

  1443. obedient

  1444. to

  1445. what

  1446. God

  1447. had

  1448. for

  1449. him

  1450. you

  1451. see

  1452. Daniel

  1453. could

  1454. have

  1455. promoted

  1456. himself

  1457. and

  1458. disobeyed

  1459. God

  1460. but

  1461. Daniel

  1462. said

  1463. I

  1464. don't

  1465. care

  1466. if

  1467. it

  1468. cost

  1469. me

  1470. my

  1471. life

  1472. you

  1473. will

  1474. not

  1475. take

  1476. away

  1477. my

  1478. obedience

  1479. before

  1480. a

  1481. holy

  1482. God

  1483. who

  1484. writes

  1485. your

  1486. story

  1487. number

  1488. two

  1489. that

  1490. mankind

  1491. all

  1492. of

  1493. us

  1494. left

  1495. to

  1496. his

  1497. own

  1498. heart

  1499. his

  1500. own

  1501. will

  1502. his

  1503. own

  1504. way

  1505. simply

  1506. put

  1507. will

  1508. do

  1509. as

  1510. he

  1511. wills

  1512. the

  1513. way

  1514. that

  1515. we

  1516. see

  1517. in

  1518. the

  1519. antichrist

  1520. the

  1521. way

  1522. that

  1523. we

  1524. see

  1525. in

  1526. Alexander

  1527. the

  1528. great

  1529. the

  1530. way

  1531. we

  1532. see

  1533. in

  1534. epiphanies

  1535. is

  1536. that

  1537. every

  1538. single

  1539. time

  1540. in

  1541. their

  1542. choice

  1543. of

  1544. the

  1545. world

  1546. they

  1547. will

  1548. choose

  1549. the

  1550. lesser

  1551. they

  1552. will

  1553. choose

  1554. what

  1555. their

  1556. heart

  1557. sinfully

  1558. desires

  1559. you know

  1560. for

  1561. Daniel

  1562. it

  1563. was

  1564. the

  1565. true

  1566. count

  1567. the

  1568. cost

  1569. in

  1570. order

  1571. to

  1572. follow

  1573. God

  1574. my

  1575. question

  1576. for

  1577. you

  1578. and

  1579. I

  1580. today

  1581. will

  1582. your

  1583. heart

  1584. be

  1585. like

  1586. the

  1587. heart

  1588. of

  1589. Alexander

  1590. the

  1591. great

  1592. will

  1593. your

  1594. heart

  1595. be

  1596. like

  1597. the

  1598. heart

  1599. of

  1600. epiphanies

  1601. will

  1602. your

  1603. heart

  1604. be

  1605. like

  1606. the

  1607. heart

  1608. of

  1609. the

  1610. antichrist

  1611. and

  1612. simply

  1613. I

  1614. am

  1615. the

  1616. God

  1617. of

  1618. my

  1619. life

  1620. and

  1621. I

  1622. will

  1623. do

  1624. as

  1625. I

  1626. will

  1627. God

  1628. or

  1629. today

  1630. will

  1631. you

  1632. make

  1633. the

  1634. choice

  1635. in

  1636. the

  1637. sacrifice

  1638. today

  1639. will

  1640. you

  1641. make

  1642. the

  1643. choice

  1644. in

  1645. the

  1646. struggle

  1647. today

  1648. will

  1649. you

  1650. make

  1651. the

  1652. choice

  1653. to

  1654. choose

  1655. Jesus

  1656. and

  1657. to see

  1658. his

  1659. goodness

  1660. and

  1661. his

  1662. faithfulness

  1663. number

  1664. three

  1665. kingdoms

  1666. will

  1667. come

  1668. and

  1669. go

  1670. but

  1671. only

  1672. the

  1673. kingdom

  1674. of

  1675. Christ

  1676. will

  1677. stand

  1678. turn

  1679. back

  1680. with

  1681. me

  1682. a few

  1683. pages

  1684. in

  1685. Daniel

    Daniel 7:13

  1686. chapter

  1687. 7

  1688. verses

  1689. 13

  1690. and

  1691. 14

  1692. it's a

  1693. prophecy

  1694. about the

  1695. son of

  1696. man

  1697. this is

  1698. a

  1699. prophecy

  1700. about

  1701. Jesus

  1702. this is

  1703. a

  1704. prophecy

  1705. about

  1706. Christ

  1707. and

  1708. he

  1709. says

  1710. and

  1711. I

  1712. saw

  1713. in

  1714. the

  1715. night

  1716. visions

  1717. and

  1718. behold

  1719. with

  1720. the

  1721. clouds

  1722. of

  1723. heaven

  1724. there

  1725. came

  1726. one

  1727. like

  1728. a

  1729. son

  1730. of

  1731. man

  1732. this

  1733. is

  1734. Jesus

  1735. and

  1736. he

  1737. came

  1738. to

  1739. the

  1740. ancient

  1741. of

  1742. days

  1743. and

  1744. was

  1745. presented

  1746. before

  1747. him

  1748. and

  1749. to

  1750. him

  1751. was

  1752. given

  1753. dominion

  1754. and

  1755. glory

  1756. and

  1757. a

  1758. kingdom

  1759. that

  1760. all

  1761. peoples

  1762. nations

  1763. and

  1764. languages

  1765. should

  1766. serve

  1767. him

  1768. and

  1769. here's

  1770. the

  1771. beautiful

  1772. part

  1773. about

  1774. this

  1775. kingdom

  1776. the

  1777. kingdom

  1778. that

  1779. I'm

  1780. in

  1781. because

  1782. Jesus

  1783. has

  1784. saved

  1785. me

  1786. the

  1787. kingdom

  1788. that

  1789. you

  1790. can

  1791. be

  1792. in

  1793. because

  1794. of

  1795. the

  1796. gift

  1797. of

  1798. God

  1799. in

  1800. Christ

  1801. that

  1802. he

  1803. paid

  1804. on

  1805. the

  1806. cross

  1807. here's

  1808. the

  1809. beautiful

  1810. part

  1811. of

  1812. that

  1813. that

  1814. his

  1815. dominion

  1816. is

  1817. an

  1818. everlasting

  1819. dominion

  1820. which

  1821. shall

  1822. not

  1823. pass

  1824. away

  1825. that

  1826. is

  1827. the

  1828. things

  1829. of

  1830. this

  1831. world

  1832. fade

  1833. his

  1834. will

  1835. stand

  1836. and

  1837. his

  1838. kingdom

  1839. one

  1840. that

  1841. shall

  1842. not

  1843. be

  1844. destroyed

  1845. are

  1846. you

  1847. a

  1848. part

  1849. of

  1850. God's

  1851. kingdom

  1852. entry

  1853. into

  1854. God's

  1855. kingdom

  1856. is

  1857. not

  1858. found

  1859. in

  1860. your

  1861. ability

  1862. or

  1863. in

  1864. mine

  1865. but

  1866. it's

  1867. found

  1868. in

  1869. response

  1870. of

  1871. faith

  1872. in

  1873. Jesus

  1874. Christ

  1875. as

  1876. Lord

  1877. and

  1878. Savior

  1879. fourth

  1880. praise

  1881. God

  1882. history

  1883. allows

  1884. us

  1885. to

  1886. learn

  1887. from

  1888. the

  1889. sins

  1890. of

  1891. others

  1892. and

  1893. instead

  1894. look

  1895. to

  1896. Jesus

  1897. folks

  1898. may

  1899. today

  1900. may

  1901. we

  1902. look

  1903. to

  1904. Jesus

  1905. as

  1906. our

  1907. means

  1908. and

  1909. may

  1910. we

  1911. look

  1912. to

  1913. Jesus

  1914. as

  1915. our

  1916. model

  1917. yes

  1918. Jesus

  1919. is

  1920. our

  1921. means

  1922. of

  1923. salvation

  1924. Jesus

  1925. is

  1926. the

  1927. only

  1928. one

  1929. who

  1930. can

  1931. save

  1932. us

  1933. but

  1934. the

  1935. truth

  1936. of

  1937. God's

  1938. word

  1939. is

  1940. it's

  1941. not

  1942. check

  1943. a

  1944. box

  1945. and

  1946. move

  1947. on

  1948. from

  1949. there

  1950. that

  1951. Jesus

  1952. is

  1953. our

  1954. means

  1955. of

  1956. salvation

  1957. and

  1958. he

  1959. is

  1960. our

  1961. model

  1962. of

  1963. obedience

  1964. may

  1965. we

  1966. stop

  1967. asking

  1968. ourselves

  1969. how

  1970. would

  1971. others

  1972. handle

  1973. this

  1974. how

  1975. would

  1976. others

  1977. respond

  1978. to

  1979. this

  1980. and

  1981. may

  1982. we

  1983. start

  1984. looking

  1985. at

  1986. the

  1987. boldness

  1988. of

  1989. love

  1990. that

  1991. exudes

  1992. from

  1993. Christ

  1994. may

  1995. we

  1996. serve

  1997. others

  1998. the

  1999. way

  2000. that

  2001. he

  2002. served

  2003. may

  2004. we

  2005. love

  2006. others

  2007. the

  2008. way

  2009. that

  2010. he

  2011. loved

  2012. not

  2013. out

  2014. of

  2015. selfish

  2016. game

  2017. but

  2018. out

  2019. of

  2020. obedience

  2021. to

  2022. God

  2023. and

  2024. lastly

  2025. and

  2026. lastly

  2027. God

  2028. wins

  2029. God

  2030. wins

  2031. I'd like

  2032. to invite

  2033. the worship

  2034. team to

  2035. go ahead

  2036. and come

  2037. back

  2038. on stage

  2039. in

  2040. the

  2041. nine

  2042. o'clock

  2043. hour

  2044. I'm

  2045. teaching

  2046. through

  2047. eschatology

  2048. and

  2049. I

  2050. appreciate

  2051. those

  2052. faithful

  2053. ones

  2054. that

  2055. have

  2056. really

  2057. hung

  2058. in

  2059. with

  2060. me

  2061. because

  2062. there's

  2063. a lot

  2064. of

  2065. what

  2066. ifs

  2067. and

  2068. I

  2069. think

  2070. so's

  2071. and

  2072. all

  2073. this

  2074. as we

  2075. look

  2076. through

  2077. and try

  2078. to

  2079. understand

  2080. in

  2081. times

  2082. and

  2083. how

  2084. it

  2085. plays

  2086. out

  2087. and

  2088. Johnny

  2089. Cobb

  2090. and I

  2091. were

  2092. talking

  2093. about

  2094. it

  2095. Johnny's

  2096. one

  2097. of

  2098. our

  2099. great

  2100. Bible

  2101. teachers

  2102. here

  2103. at

  2104. our

  2105. church

  2106. and

  2107. Johnny

  2108. and I

  2109. were

  2110. talking

  2111. about

  2112. it

  2113. afterwards

  2114. and

  2115. just

  2116. how

  2117. it

  2118. and

  2119. the

  2120. beauty

  2121. and

  2122. in

  2123. the

  2124. midst

  2125. of

  2126. how

  2127. confusing

  2128. it

  2129. can

  2130. be

  2131. isn't

  2132. it

  2133. very

  2134. encouraging

  2135. and

  2136. awesome

  2137. to

  2138. know

  2139. that

  2140. God

  2141. wins

  2142. that

  2143. God

  2144. wins

  2145. you see

  2146. folks

  2147. that

  2148. this

  2149. world

  2150. is

  2151. tough

  2152. and

  2153. it's

  2154. getting

  2155. tougher

  2156. folks

  2157. this

  2158. world

  2159. is

  2160. evil

  2161. and

  2162. it's

  2163. getting

  2164. more

  2165. and

  2166. more

  2167. evil

  2168. this

  2169. world

  2170. is

  2171. wicked

  2172. and

  2173. it's

  2174. getting

  2175. even

  2176. more

  2177. and

  2178. more

  2179. wicked

  2180. but

  2181. yet

  2182. we're

  2183. told

  2184. that

  2185. there's

  2186. coming

  2187. a

  2188. time

  2189. that

  2190. an

  2191. antichrist

  2192. will

  2193. come

  2194. and

  2195. he'll

  2196. rule

  2197. and

  2198. he'll

  2199. reign

  2200. and

  2201. his

  2202. rule

  2203. and

  2204. his

  2205. reign

  2206. will

  2207. be

  2208. a

  2209. global

  2210. rule

  2211. and

  2212. a

  2213. global

  2214. reign

  2215. but

  2216. praise

  2217. God

  2218. it's

  2219. going

  2220. to

  2221. come

  2222. to

  2223. an

  2224. end

  2225. you

  2226. know

  2227. when we

  2228. read

  2229. apocalyptic

  2230. literature

  2231. it can

  2232. sound a

  2233. little

  2234. scary

  2235. there's

  2236. wars

  2237. there's

  2238. battles

  2239. there's

  2240. blood

  2241. there's

  2242. there's

  2243. dragons

  2244. there's

  2245. demons

  2246. there's

  2247. beasts

  2248. there's

  2249. creatures

  2250. that you

  2251. and I

  2252. cannot

  2253. begin to

  2254. fathom

  2255. or

  2256. understand

  2257. but you

  2258. know that

  2259. when we

  2260. read

  2261. literature

  2262. like this

  2263. in God's

  2264. word

  2265. that it's

  2266. not meant

  2267. to

  2268. frighten

  2269. us

  2270. but it's

  2271. meant to

  2272. encourage

  2273. us

  2274. it's

  2275. meant to

  2276. remind

  2277. us

  2278. it's

  2279. it's

  2280. to

  2281. bring us

  2282. joy

  2283. and happiness

  2284. that

  2285. as we

  2286. face

  2287. the

  2288. difficulties

  2289. of

  2290. this

  2291. world

  2292. that

  2293. that

  2294. two

  2295. word

  2296. statement

  2297. was

  2298. true

  2299. in

  2300. Daniel

  2301. and

  2302. it

  2303. was

  2304. true

  2305. in

  2306. Revelation

  2307. and

  2308. it

  2309. was

  2310. true

  2311. in

  2312. the

  2313. Gospels

  2314. and

  2315. it's

  2316. true

  2317. today

  2318. that

  2319. God

  2320. wins

  2321. that

  2322. God

  2323. wins

  2324. and

  2325. God

  2326. well

  2327. I don't

  2328. know

  2329. why

  2330. I

  2331. know

  2332. why

  2333. God

  2334. doesn't

  2335. make

  2336. everything

  2337. clear

  2338. to

  2339. us

  2340. because

  2341. he

  2342. doesn't

  2343. have

  2344. to

  2345. he

  2346. doesn't

  2347. owe

  2348. that

  2349. to

  2350. me

  2351. he

  2352. doesn't

  2353. owe

  2354. that

  2355. to

  2356. you

  2357. but

  2358. what

  2359. he

  2360. makes

  2361. clear

  2362. is

  2363. his

  2364. victory

  2365. victory

  2366. that

  2367. he's

  2368. done

  2369. for

  2370. you

  2371. the

  2372. victory

  2373. that

  2374. he's

  2375. done

  2376. for

  2377. me

  2378. that

  2379. he

  2380. overcame

  2381. the

  2382. one

  2383. thing

  2384. that

  2385. you

  2386. and

  2387. I

  2388. can't

  2389. overcome

  2390. he

  2391. overcame

  2392. our

  2393. sin

  2394. and in

  2395. that

  2396. he

  2397. defeated

  2398. our

  2399. sin

  2400. and gave

  2401. us

  2402. life

  2403. and gave

  2404. us

  2405. hope

  2406. and gave

  2407. us

  2408. a

  2409. future

  2410. folks

  2411. God

  2412. wins

  2413. in

  2414. Revelation

  2415. 19

  2416. I

  2417. want to

  2418. close with

  2419. a

  2420. prophecy

  2421. then I

  2422. saw

  2423. heaven

  2424. opened

  2425. and

  2426. behold

  2427. a

  2428. white

  2429. horse

  2430. and

  2431. the

  2432. one

  2433. sitting

  2434. on

  2435. it

  2436. called

  2437. faithful

  2438. and

  2439. true

  2440. and

  2441. in

  2442. righteousness

  2443. he

  2444. judges

  2445. and

  2446. makes

  2447. war

  2448. his

  2449. eyes

  2450. are

  2451. like

  2452. a

  2453. flame

  2454. of

  2455. fire

  2456. and

  2457. on

  2458. his

  2459. head

  2460. are

  2461. many

  2462. diadems

  2463. and

  2464. he

  2465. has

  2466. a

  2467. name

  2468. written

  2469. that

  2470. no

  2471. one

  2472. knows

  2473. but

  2474. himself

  2475. he

  2476. is

  2477. clothed

  2478. in

  2479. a

  2480. robe

  2481. dipped

  2482. in

  2483. blood

  2484. and

  2485. the

  2486. name

  2487. by

  2488. which

  2489. he

  2490. is

  2491. called

  2492. is

  2493. the

  2494. word

  2495. of

  2496. God

  2497. in

  2498. the

  2499. army

  2500. of

  2501. heaven

  2502. in

  2503. the

  2504. armies

  2505. of

  2506. heaven

  2507. arrayed

  2508. in

  2509. fine

  2510. linen

  2511. white

  2512. and

  2513. pure

  2514. were

  2515. falling

  2516. along

  2517. him

  2518. on

  2519. white

  2520. horses

  2521. and

  2522. from

  2523. his

  2524. mouth

  2525. comes

  2526. a

  2527. sharp

  2528. sword

  2529. with

  2530. which

  2531. to

  2532. strike

  2533. down

  2534. the

  2535. nations

  2536. and

  2537. rule

  2538. them

  2539. with

  2540. an

  2541. iron

  2542. rod

  2543. he

  2544. will

  2545. tread

  2546. the

  2547. winepress

  2548. of

  2549. the

  2550. fury

  2551. of

  2552. the

  2553. wrath

  2554. of

  2555. God

  2556. the

  2557. almighty

  2558. and

  2559. on

  2560. his

  2561. robe

  2562. and

  2563. on

  2564. his

  2565. thigh

  2566. he

  2567. has

  2568. a

  2569. name

  2570. written

  2571. king

  2572. of

  2573. kings

  2574. and

  2575. lord

  2576. of

  2577. lords

  2578. God

  2579. wins

  2580. God

  2581. wins

  2582. if you're

  2583. here

  2584. today

  2585. and

  2586. Jesus

  2587. Christ

  2588. is

  2589. not

  2590. your

  2591. lord

  2592. and

  2593. savior

  2594. you

  2595. have

  2596. not

  2597. surrendered

  2598. your

  2599. life

  2600. to

  2601. him

  2602. can

  2603. I

  2604. tell

  2605. you

  2606. today

  2607. stop

  2608. fighting

  2609. stop

  2610. fighting

  2611. a

  2612. battle

  2613. that

  2614. you

  2615. cannot

  2616. win

  2617. and

  2618. surrender

  2619. to

  2620. him

  2621. today

  2622. receive

  2623. him

  2624. as

  2625. lord

  2626. and

  2627. savior

  2628. allow

  2629. as

  2630. he

  2631. as

  2632. he

  2633. works

  2634. and

  2635. moves

  2636. to

  2637. pay

  2638. the

  2639. price

  2640. of

  2641. your

  2642. sins

  2643. with

  2644. the

  2645. work

  2646. he

  2647. did

  2648. on

  2649. the

  2650. cross

  2651. of

  2652. Calvary

  2653. and

  2654. allow

  2655. him

  2656. to

  2657. make

  2658. you

  2659. new

  2660. to

  2661. make

  2662. you

  2663. whole

  2664. to

  2665. make

  2666. you

  2667. clean

  2668. for

  2669. all

  2670. of

  2671. eternity

  2672. god

  2673. wins

  2674. lord

  2675. we

  2676. thank

  2677. you

  2678. that

  2679. the

  2680. battle

  2681. that

  2682. rages

  2683. on

  2684. lord

  2685. is

  2686. a

  2687. battle

  2688. that

  2689. you

  2690. fight

  2691. that

  2692. you've

  2693. won

  2694. and

  2695. we

  2696. thank

  2697. you

  2698. lord

  2699. for

  2700. being

  2701. sufficient

  2702. in
