  4. Amen. Such a good time this morning. At this time, we're going to dismiss our kindergarten through

  5. second grade to head to kids' ministry, and so Ms. Dawn and Ms. Stephanie are back there at the

  6. back, so you guys can make the way back there. Well, if you have your Bibles, and I hope you do,

  7. I want to invite you to join me in Matthew chapter 5 this morning. If you do not have a Bible, we do

    Matthew 5 chapter mention

  8. have some free Bibles that we would like to give to you as a gift from us to you. They're located at

  9. our connections table, and so you can feel free to go back there and grab one of those. And then also,

  10. I'd like to remind you guys about the Lord's Supper that we will be partaking at the end of

  11. the service. And so, as we prepare our time in the Word, would you join me in prayer?

  12. God, I thank you for this time and what a privilege it is to open up your Word this morning.

  13. God, I pray that you would speak this morning, Lord, that it would not be my words, my thoughts,

  14. my opinions, but it would be your truth that comes forward. And so, Lord, any part of this that is me,

  15. remove it from my mouth. And God, I pray that if anyone here does not know Jesus Christ

  16. as their Lord and Savior, that word today would be the day of their salvation. And it's in Jesus' name

  17. we pray. Amen. Amen. Well, we are in Matthew chapter 5. We're going to start here in just a moment in

    Matthew 5 chapter mention

  18. verse 27 as we read about in the Sermon on the Mount, Jesus' words as he teaches about lust.

  19. Now, Jesus has been doing some heart surgery as he's begun in the Sermon on the Mount.

  20. The purpose of the Sermon on the Mount is Jesus is teaching about the kingdom. He's already called to

  21. repent. And what he's saying is these are the characteristics of those who are in the kingdom

  22. that Jesus is the king. And so he's going to begin to speak into not simply the actions that are at

  23. fault, but the true heart of the matter. And only how Jesus can do, he is exposing, not publicly for

  24. everyone to know at this point, but he's exposing privately of challenging at the core of the

  25. individual, the matter and the issue that needs to be dealt with. There were people who wanted to fake

  26. their love and fake their obedience for God. And Jesus says, well, I'm going to expose you by

  27. dealing with who you really are. I realized a few years ago that I was getting old. Not that I was

  28. getting older. We're all getting older. But that I'm getting old. Because I say things now like,

  29. you know, back when I was your age, I began to say things like, that's just a little bit too loud.

  30. And I really like to be in bed before the sun goes down. A few years ago, we were sitting at our

  31. at the table, at our kitchen table having a meal. And we were talking to our kids just in general about

  32. school. And one of them asked the question, what school was like when we were there? And so back

  33. before electricity, we began to tell the stories that happened at the one-room schoolhouse.

  34. I told a story, I said, I said, things were just different back then. Right? Y'all know that.

  35. Like, those of us who were alive during the 80s, like, well done that any of us made it, you know?

  36. And I said, you know, like right now, like right now in school, like, parents or grandparents,

  37. you get this, like every day for our kids or grandkids is progress report day. I remember there

  38. was eight days when I was in school that I was terrified of. Four progress report days and four

  39. report card days. Because I knew on those eight days, something was being taken away. Something

  40. was going to be taken away from me. And so, but now, like, you can get online, right? Oh, like,

  41. we can, we can check. Like, right now. In fact, I can get on PowerSchool. Let me do that.

  42. Let me throw them up on the screen. Just kidding. Just kidding.

  43. We can get them right now and check their grades and check their attendance and see if there's any

  44. special notes and all the things that are there. But other than that, like, their grades are private.

  45. That was the conversation we had. Because I think I had to ask, like, they had taken a test and I

  46. said, well, how did other people do in your class? And they're like, we don't really know how people

  47. did in our class. Like, that's kind of a private. That's between the teacher and us and then the

  48. teacher and you. Like, are you kidding me? Like, when I was growing up, I remember taking a test

  49. test and you're done. You're supposed to turn it over. And when everybody was done and it was turned

  50. over, you had to pass it to the person to the right of you. And the teacher would call out the answers

  51. and they would grade your paper. And then they would hand it back to you. And as a student who

  52. necessarily didn't apply themselves, that was a terrifying moment for me. Right? Or I remember

  53. we'd go up and the teacher would have to show us the grades and the grade book. And so she would take

  54. a piece of paper to block off the names that were under ours, but not the names that were above ours.

  55. And so for Bradbury, I got to see what Christopher Alleman's grades were, but Christopher Alleman was a

  56. genius. But my buddy, Patrick Zier, got to laugh at the rest of the class as he saw what we made,

  57. which made him feel better about his grades. You see, the issue was, for me, even though I was a student

  58. who didn't apply myself, I didn't want people to know that about me. Even in middle school, I remember

  59. wanting to set myself as something different than what I really was. But yet, all it took

  60. was that spelling test to be handed to Sammy Crawford. And Sammy didn't know that you could really misspell

  61. words like that. Right? Jesus is dealing with a heart issue. He's exposing people, not in a way of got you,

  62. but exposing to them of who they are. That it's not their works and their concept of self-righteousness

  63. that's going to get them to heaven. In fact, what he's shared with them earlier in verse 20,

  64. he says, you can't, you can't clean up all the acts, but there's still the heart of the matter

  65. that we have to deal with. So in Matthew 5, he begins to give a list of topics from anger to lust to

  66. divorce to oaths that challenge not just what we do, but who we are. So would you join me? I'm going to

  67. read chapter 5, read verses 27 all the way through 30. Jesus says,

  68. you have heard that it was said you shall not commit adultery,

  69. but I say to you that everyone who looks at a woman with lustful intent has already committed adultery

  70. in his heart. If your right eye causes you to sin, tear it out and throw it away.

  71. For it is better that you lose one of your members than your whole body be thrown into hell.

  72. And if your right hand causes you to sin, cut it off and throw it away.

  73. For it is better that you lose one of your members than your whole body go into hell.

  74. So Jesus comes in, in all of these. Like with anger, he says, listen, it's not just that you

  75. don't murder. It's that you're not to have a heart of anger. But when anger does come in,

  76. you forgive. But it doesn't even end just there. It's a call to reconciliation.

  77. Over the next couple of weeks, what we're going to try to connect and thread through

  78. in the narrative that Jesus has given us about lust and divorce, what Jesus is doing,

  79. what Jesus is going to emphasize is the importance of God-designed marriage.

  80. Of this is what it looks like. This is who I belong to because I belong to him.

  81. But then on that day in that small country church in Jackson, South Carolina,

  82. when I pledged my love and devotion to my wife, I became hers and she became mine.

  83. And there's a beautiful picture that the gospel is painting when two people become one.

  84. In Christ, in marriage.

  85. And so we have to deal with the hearts that try to pull away from God's intent and God's design.

  86. And so the first that we're going to see of this is the seriousness of sexual sin.

  87. If you're here this morning and you're thinking, this isn't me.

  88. If you're thinking, I don't have to worry about this.

  89. I've got this under control.

  90. I've got this figured out.

  91. That's a struggle of a different gender or a different age.

  92. I do want to read to you.

  93. I read this quote this week from a pastor who passed away within the last year, a godly man by the name of Votie Bachman.

  94. And here's what he said.

  95. The wisest man in the Bible fell into sexual sin.

  96. The strongest man in the Bible fell into sexual sin.

  97. The godliest man in the Bible fell into sexual sin.

  98. For me to think I'm above falling into this sin is to think that I'm wiser than Solomon, stronger than Samson, and godlier than King David.

  99. The words that Jesus is going to give us of what we're going to see in verse 29 and 30 is dealing with the severity, the seriousness of this.

  100. He's like, if you don't deal with it, what's going to happen is cast into hell.

  101. So look back at me, verse 27 and 28.

  102. You have heard that it was said, you shall not commit adultery.

  103. Jesus is quoting the law, I believe, the seventh commandment.

  104. But I say to you that everyone who looks at a woman with lustful intent has already committed adultery with her in his heart.

  105. The Bible deals severely when it comes to matters of adultery.

  106. In the Old Testament law, oftentimes it was punishable as a capital crime.

  107. The seriousness of this.

  108. And Jesus says, once again, he raises the call from do not do this physical act to the intent of the heart to where you have what he describes as lustful intent.

  109. If you'll turn with me to 1 Corinthians chapter 6.

    1 Corinthians 6 chapter mention

  110. Paul, in dealing with this sin specifically within the church, remember this first word, okay?

  111. Flee.

  112. Flee.

  113. From sexual immorality.

  114. Every other sin a person commits is outside the body.

  115. Like, focus on these words.

  116. Like, focus on these words.

  117. Listen to these words.

  118. But the sexually immoral person sins against his own body.

  119. Or do you know that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit within you from whom you have God?

  120. You are not your own, for you were bought with a price.

  121. So glorify God in your body.

  122. You see, the context of this sin deals beyond the physical.

  123. It deals with the spiritual, the emotional, and the mental destruction that happens and takes place in the physical body of a person.

  124. Because in Christ, we are not our own.

  125. We are not our own.

  126. We belong to God.

  127. And specifically, we belong to God, as Paul tells us, and that the Spirit of God lives in us.

  128. Did you not know that you're the temple of the living God?

  129. The Spirit of God lives in you and I through the power of our profession of faith in Christ.

  130. For personal sanctification matters.

  131. But God lives through us as well.

  132. For the work of the gospel as we go, as we share in obedience.

  133. God wants to use you and I in our spirit, in our physical nature of who we are,

  134. of the work that is happening in us, of the work that happens through us.

  135. And Jesus, early on, deals with the devastating factor of this.

  136. So we see the seriousness of it.

  137. But then Jesus gives us a strategy over this sin as well.

  138. The strategy over the sin.

  139. What was the word that I told you to remember in 1 Corinthians 6?

  140. Say it again.

  141. Flee.

  142. Flee.

  143. Exactly right.

  144. What does it look like to flee from something?

  145. Run.

  146. Get out of there.

  147. I don't care whatever it is that you're afraid of.

  148. Picture that.

  149. Now get away from it as fast as you can.

  150. To flee from something means that you and I do everything in our power.

  151. Everything in our power to remove ourself from the situation.

  152. If you know me, you know that my greatest fear in the world is snakes.

  153. It's snakes.

  154. I don't like them.

  155. I don't like them at all.

  156. I don't like them when they surprise me.

  157. And I don't like them when I know where they are.

  158. My kids, when they were little, used to love to go to the zoo.

  159. And we go to the zoo.

  160. I love the zoo.

  161. I ain't been to the zoo in a long time.

  162. I love the elephants.

  163. I don't think they're there anymore.

  164. I love the giraffes.

  165. I love feeding it.

  166. I love the grossness of the tongue when it would come out.

  167. And I feel like a 58-pound cat's tongue, you know.

  168. Taking some spinach out your hand.

  169. I love going and watching the chimpanzees and the gorillas.

  170. I love going into the aquarium.

  171. But there was one place that I wasn't going.

  172. And if the kids wanted to go, then they needed to know that dad would be on the other side.

  173. And that their mom and her boldness in Christ was going to walk through that with them.

  174. But not me.

  175. Not me.

  176. Why?

  177. Because I'd want to flee.

  178. So why would I put myself in the situation to begin with?

  179. Verse 29 and 30.

  180. Jesus says,

  181. If your right eye causes you to sin, tear it out.

  182. Throw it away.

  183. For it is better that you lose one of your members,

  184. that your whole body be thrown into hell.

  185. And if your right hand causes you to sin, cut it off.

  186. And throw it away.

  187. For it is better that you lose one of your members,

  188. than that your whole body go into hell.

  189. Jesus uses two examples here.

  190. And uses figurative language to his audience,

  191. so that his audience will understand the depth of the seriousness of the matter.

  192. And specifically, Jesus chooses the hand and the eye.

  193. And I'd like to explain why I think why to help us understand the strategy over this.

  194. Jesus says,

  195. Jesus says,

  196. If your right eye causes you to stumble,

  197. you tear it out,

  198. you throw it away.

  199. What we see that in these matters,

  200. that in the eye,

  201. the lust sees,

  202. lust pursues,

  203. and does so in the sinful way.

  204. that when the eye of lust captures on to an object,

  205. it creates within it a sinful desire that comes out,

  206. and that the person that is looking upon it

  207. is no longer looking in a godly manner,

  208. is no longer looking in a way that brings glory and honor to God,

  209. but is instead looking at it from the depths of the sinfulness of their heart.

  210. Jesus says,

  211. It's better to cut it out,

  212. and to remove it,

  213. and to throw it away,

  214. than allow it to happen.

  215. Because you see,

  216. your eyes and my eyes

  217. are not designed,

  218. are not created in the purpose of God

  219. to see others as objects

  220. of our sinful consumption.

  221. The Bible tells us

  222. that you and me

  223. were created

  224. in the image of God.

  225. That we are image bearers.

  226. And so when I see you

  227. through the power of the Holy Spirit,

  228. what I'm seeing is not an object

  229. to be had,

  230. is not an object

  231. to be lusted after,

  232. but is instead

  233. as one who is made

  234. in the image

  235. of God.

  236. So Jesus says,

  237. tear it out.

  238. He also says,

  239. if the hand causes you

  240. to cut it off

  241. and throw it away.

  242. Again,

  243. Jesus is using

  244. figurative language here,

  245. right?

  246. Like I don't want next Sunday

  247. to be eye patch Sunday,

  248. right?

  249. Like,

  250. a bunch of people

  251. walking in,

  252. shaking hands

  253. with the left hand.

  254. That's not what we're looking for.

  255. Here's what Jesus

  256. is talking about.

  257. During the ancient world,

  258. during the ancient world,

  259. if you were caught stealing,

  260. how was that punishable?

  261. Cutting off the hand.

  262. Cutting off the hand.

  263. You see,

  264. lust

  265. doesn't end

  266. with just a thought.

  267. Lust doesn't end

  268. with just a glance.

  269. Because even,

  270. as Jesus says,

  271. if something

  272. physically

  273. is absent

  274. and doesn't happen,

  275. here's what you're doing

  276. in the mind,

  277. in the thought

  278. of lust,

  279. you're taking

  280. what's not yours.

  281. You're abusing

  282. someone.

  283. You're objectifying

  284. them.

  285. You're assaulting

  286. them with your thought.

  287. So Jesus says,

  288. you see,

  289. lust

  290. doesn't just end

  291. in lust.

  292. Lust continues

  293. into stealing.

  294. You see,

  295. in the beauty

  296. of marriage,

  297. what Paul talks about,

  298. we'll see this more

  299. next week,

  300. is that

  301. this is important.

  302. in my relationship

  303. with my wife,

  304. I am hers

  305. in every way.

  306. And she is mine

  307. in every way.

  308. And in our surrender

  309. to the Lord,

  310. a surrender

  311. to one another,

  312. it can only be explained

  313. by the power

  314. of the gospel.

  315. it's the picture

  316. that's being painted.

  317. It's what it's

  318. going

  319. to point us to.

  320. So,

  321. the hand

  322. is not intended

  323. for believers

  324. to take.

  325. The hand

  326. is intended

  327. to serve.

  328. And I want

  329. to tell you this.

  330. You cannot

  331. serve someone

  332. with a lust

  333. in your heart.

  334. You're taking,

  335. you're taking,

  336. you're taking.

  337. So Jesus says,

  338. figuratively,

  339. cut out the eye,

  340. cut off the hand,

  341. throw it away.

  342. It's better

  343. to lose

  344. one of these

  345. than for your

  346. whole body

  347. to be thrown

  348. into hell.

  349. Now I'm going

  350. to ask you

  351. some questions.

  352. If this sin

  353. is as powerful

  354. as Jesus says,

  355. and you believe

  356. Jesus

  357. like you say

  358. you do,

  359. then is today

  360. the day

  361. to delete

  362. an app?

  363. Is today

  364. the day

  365. to cancel

  366. a subscription?

  367. Is today

  368. the day

  369. to take

  370. different vacations?

  371. Is today

  372. the day

  373. to hang out

  374. with different

  375. people?

  376. Is today

  377. the day

  378. to get

  379. a new job?

  380. Is today

  381. the day

  382. to maybe

  383. even end

  384. an unmarried,

  385. ungodly,

  386. romantic

  387. relationship?

  388. And Jesus

  389. says,

  390. it's better

  391. to cut off

  392. your hand.

  393. Why won't

  394. you delete

  395. an app?

  396. Jesus

  397. says,

  398. it's better

  399. to cut out

  400. your eye.

  401. Why won't

  402. you quit

  403. a job?

  404. You see,

  405. it's easy

  406. to say

  407. and to sing

  408. I know

  409. the Lord

  410. will provide

  411. and then

  412. walk out of

  413. here and

  414. take control

  415. of everything

  416. in our life.

  417. But would

  418. today be

  419. the day

  420. for you

  421. that we

  422. don't have

  423. to cut off

  424. the hand,

  425. we don't have

  426. to cut out

  427. the eye,

  428. but that there

  429. are things

  430. in our

  431. life.

  432. And Jesus

  433. is saying,

  434. I can't

  435. believe you

  436. won't delete

  437. it.

  438. I can't

  439. believe that

  440. vacation is

  441. so important

  442. to you.

  443. I can't

  444. believe that

  445. you won't

  446. hang out

  447. with someone

  448. new.

  449. I can't

  450. believe you

  451. won't get

  452. a new

  453. job.

  454. I can't

  455. believe you

  456. won't end

  457. that destructive

  458. relationship.

  459. It's better

  460. to do that

  461. than to have

  462. your whole

  463. body

  464. thrown

  465. into

  466. hell.

  467. so what's

  468. the solution?

  469. I mean,

  470. I imagine

  471. it was

  472. pretty quiet

  473. there too.

  474. What's

  475. the solution?

  476. And Jesus

  477. is going to

  478. give us

  479. a solution.

  480. Not just

  481. to sexual

  482. sin,

  483. but the

  484. solution to

  485. sin.

  486. what do

  487. you do

  488. if you're

  489. here this

  490. morning?

  491. If you're

  492. here this

  493. morning,

  494. and you're

  495. like,

  496. man,

  497. I failed

  498. time and

  499. time and

  500. time again.

  501. And the

  502. word

  503. adulterer

  504. rings true

  505. in my life.

  506. What do

  507. you do?

  508. What do

  509. you do?

  510. Well,

  511. number one,

  512. Jesus is

  513. the

  514. solution.

  515. Jesus

  516. is the

  517. solution.

  518. I want

  519. to read

  520. to you

  521. in John

    John 8 chapter mention

  522. chapter 8.

  523. In

  524. John

    John 8 chapter mention

  525. chapter 8.

  526. There's

  527. a story,

  528. a story

  529. from the

  530. life of

  531. Jesus,

  532. where a

  533. woman

  534. is brought

  535. to Jesus

  536. who's been

  537. caught in

  538. adultery.

  539. Start in

  540. verse 2.

  541. Early in

  542. the morning

  543. he came

  544. again to

  545. the temple.

  546. And all

  547. the people

  548. came to

  549. him.

  550. And he

  551. sat down

  552. and he

  553. taught them.

  554. And the

  555. scribes and

  556. the Pharisees

  557. brought a

  558. woman who

  559. had been

  560. caught in

  561. adultery

  562. and placing

  563. her in the

  564. midst,

  565. they said

  566. to him,

  567. teacher,

  568. this woman

  569. has been

  570. caught in

  571. the act

  572. of adultery.

  573. Now in

  574. the law

  575. Moses

  576. commanded

  577. us to

  578. stone

  579. such

  580. women.

  581. What do

  582. you say?

  583. Now let's

  584. pause right

  585. there.

  586. This is

  587. not a

  588. group of

  589. people with

  590. pure intent

  591. and pure

  592. motives.

  593. They hate

  594. this woman

  595. and they

  596. hate Jesus.

  597. They see

  598. themselves as

  599. self-righteous.

  600. If you feel

  601. like you're

  602. someone here

  603. and you're

  604. caught up

  605. and you've

  606. committed

  607. the sin

  608. of adultery,

  609. guess what?

  610. So have

  611. the rest of

  612. us.

  613. Verse 6.

  614. This they

  615. said to him

  616. to test him

  617. that they

  618. may have

  619. some charge

  620. to bring

  621. against him.

  622. and Jesus

  623. bent down

  624. and wrote

  625. with his

  626. finger on

  627. the ground

  628. and as

  629. they

  630. continued to

  631. ask him

  632. he stood

  633. up and

  634. said to

  635. him,

  636. let him

  637. who is

  638. without sin

  639. among you

  640. be the

  641. first to

  642. throw a

  643. stone at

  644. her.

  645. And once

  646. more he

  647. bent down

  648. and wrote

  649. on the

  650. ground.

  651. But when

  652. they heard

  653. it they

  654. went away

  655. one by

  656. one beginning

  657. with the

  658. older ones

  659. and Jesus

  660. was left

  661. alone

  662. with the

  663. woman

  664. standing

  665. before him.

  666. Now there's

  667. a lot of

  668. thoughts

  669. and there's

  670. a lot of

  671. theories

  672. about what

  673. Jesus wrote

  674. on the

  675. ground.

  676. We don't

  677. know.

  678. We don't

  679. know.

  680. But whatever

  681. he wrote

  682. was powerful

  683. enough

  684. to cause

  685. a group

  686. of men

  687. to leave

  688. in shame

  689. because of

  690. what was

  691. in their

  692. heart.

  693. And so

  694. now

  695. it's

  696. Jesus

  697. and the

  698. woman

  699. caught

  700. in adultery.

  701. Let me

  702. say this

  703. about her.

  704. She was

  705. caught.

  706. This is

  707. not a

  708. false

  709. accusation.

  710. This is

  711. truth

  712. about sin

  713. in her

  714. life.

  715. verse

  716. 10.

  717. You see

  718. in our

  719. sins

  720. sometimes

  721. we can

  722. begin to

  723. believe

  724. that there

  725. are certain

  726. sins

  727. that cause

  728. us to

  729. be

  730. unlovable,

  731. unredeemable,

  732. unsavable.

  733. That's not

  734. how Jesus

  735. works.

  736. That's not

  737. who Jesus

  738. is.

  739. So

  740. Jesus

  741. stands

  742. up

  743. and says

  744. to her,

  745. woman,

  746. where are

  747. they?

  748. Has

  749. no one

  750. condemned

  751. you?

  752. She

  753. said,

  754. no one,

  755. Lord.

  756. And then

  757. look at

  758. what Jesus

  759. says.

  760. Neither

  761. do I

  762. condemn

  763. condemn you.

  764. Go

  765. from now

  766. on

  767. and sin

  768. no more.

  769. Here's

  770. what Jesus

  771. does.

  772. Jesus

  773. doesn't

  774. excuse

  775. away

  776. her sin.

  777. Jesus

  778. gives

  779. her

  780. grace.

  781. where

  782. are

  783. they

  784. who

  785. condemn

  786. you?

  787. Where

  788. have

  789. they

  790. gone?

  791. And

  792. she

  793. says,

  794. no one,

  795. Lord.

  796. It's

  797. just

  798. her

  799. and

  800. Jesus.

  801. I'm

  802. going to

  803. tell you

  804. right now,

  805. right now

  806. in your

  807. life,

  808. I don't

  809. care if

  810. it's

  811. this sin,

  812. I don't

  813. care if

  814. it's

  815. any other

  816. sin,

  817. I don't

  818. care what

  819. sin that

  820. you've

  821. stacked up,

  822. you're

  823. holding

  824. on to

  825. that's

  826. right there

  827. and people

  828. want to

  829. call you

  830. out and

  831. you just

  832. want to

  833. hide from

  834. it,

  835. you want

  836. to hide

  837. from it,

  838. you want

  839. to hide

  840. from it.

  841. Here's

  842. what I

  843. want to

  844. say,

  845. right now

  846. in this

  847. moment,

  848. you're

  849. filled in

  850. a room

  851. with a

  852. whole bunch

  853. of

  854. people,

  855. but

  856. right

  857. now

  858. it's

  859. just

  860. you

  861. and

  862. Jesus.

  863. When

  864. it all

  865. matters,

  866. when

  867. it all

  868. counts,

  869. right now,

  870. it's

  871. just

  872. you

  873. and

  874. Jesus.

  875. And

  876. he

  877. offers

  878. you

  879. right

  880. now,

  881. right in

  882. this

  883. moment,

  884. he

  885. offers

  886. you

  887. grace.

  888. He

  889. offers

  890. you

  891. grace.

  892. What

  893. does it

  894. mean

  895. that he

  896. offers

  897. you

  898. grace?

  899. Number

  900. one,

  901. he

  902. offers

  903. you

  904. forgiveness.

  905. He

  906. offers

  907. you

  908. forgiveness.

  909. That

  910. through

  911. the work

  912. of the

  913. cross,

  914. Jesus

  915. offers

  916. you

  917. forgiveness

  918. for

  919. all

  920. your

  921. sins.

  922. For

  923. all

  924. of

  925. them.

  926. All

  927. sins

  928. past,

  929. all

  930. sins

  931. present,

  932. all

  933. sins

  934. future.

  935. That's

  936. how

  937. big,

  938. that's

  939. how

  940. powerful,

  941. that's

  942. how

  943. capable

  944. he

  945. is.

  946. He

  947. offers

  948. you

  949. forgiveness.

  950. He

  951. takes

  952. all

  953. of

  954. your

  955. sin

  956. and

  957. in

  958. that

  959. he

  960. gives

  961. you

  962. your

  963. righteousness

  964. and

  965. belief

  966. and

  967. faith

  968. and

  969. trust

  970. in

  971. Jesus

  972. Christ

  973. as

  974. your

  975. Lord

  976. and

  977. Savior

  978. finds

  979. when

  980. you

  981. acknowledge

  982. that

  983. you're

  984. a

  985. sinner

  986. who

  987. needs

  988. to

  989. be

  990. saved

  991. by

  992. his

  993. grace.

  994. But

  995. grace

  996. doesn't

  997. end

  998. there.

  999. Grace

  1000. doesn't

  1001. end

  1002. there.

  1003. Grace

  1004. continues

  1005. on

  1006. in

  1007. the

  1008. call

  1009. to

  1010. obedience.

  1011. this is

  1012. so

  1013. important.

  1014. This is

  1015. so

  1016. important.

  1017. What does he say

  1018. back at

  1019. verse 11?

  1020. Where are

  1021. they?

  1022. There's no

  1023. one Lord.

  1024. And

  1025. Jesus

  1026. said

  1027. neither

  1028. do I

  1029. condemn

  1030. you.

  1031. Go

  1032. from

  1033. now

  1034. on

  1035. and

  1036. sin

  1037. no

  1038. more.

  1039. You see

  1040. here's the

  1041. part of

  1042. this.

  1043. Here's the

  1044. part of

  1045. this that

  1046. we want

  1047. to

  1048. separate

  1049. we want

  1050. to

  1051. remove.

  1052. You see

  1053. we all

  1054. want

  1055. a

  1056. forgiveness

  1057. from

  1058. Jesus.

  1059. But

  1060. Jesus'

  1061. call

  1062. of

  1063. forgiveness

  1064. through

  1065. the

  1066. power

  1067. of

  1068. the

  1069. Holy

  1070. Spirit

  1071. that

  1072. dwells

  1073. in

  1074. us

  1075. moves

  1076. us

  1077. to

  1078. obedience.

  1079. Okay?

  1080. I forgive

  1081. you.

  1082. Here's

  1083. the

  1084. standard.

  1085. Stop.

  1086. Flee.

  1087. Run

  1088. from.

  1089. Cut

  1090. off.

  1091. If it

  1092. calls for

  1093. it.

  1094. And

  1095. in

  1096. that

  1097. in

  1098. the

  1099. fullness

  1100. of

  1101. Christ

  1102. he

  1103. is

  1104. your

  1105. Savior

  1106. and

  1107. he

  1108. is

  1109. your

  1110. Lord

  1111. and

  1112. that's

  1113. the

  1114. testimony

  1115. of

  1116. those

  1117. individuals

  1118. today.

  1119. I'm

  1120. going to

  1121. ask at

  1122. this time

  1123. if the

  1124. prayer

  1125. team

  1126. and

  1127. the

  1128. worship

  1129. team

  1130. would

  1131. begin

  1132. to

  1133. get

  1134. in

  1135. place.

  1136. This

  1137. morning

  1138. God's

  1139. call

  1140. and

  1141. his

  1142. response

  1143. for

  1144. you

  1145. is

  1146. to

  1147. respond

  1148. to

  1149. him.

  1150. This

  1151. lady

  1152. didn't

  1153. wake

  1154. up

  1155. this

  1156. morning

  1157. thinking

  1158. that

  1159. she

  1160. would

  1161. encounter

  1162. with

  1163. Christ

  1164. but

  1165. she

  1166. left

  1167. there

  1168. with

  1169. an

  1170. encounter

  1171. with

  1172. the

  1173. Messiah

  1174. and

  1175. just

  1176. like

  1177. her

  1178. he

  1179. offers

  1180. you

  1181. today

  1182. his

  1183. grace

  1184. he

  1185. offers

  1186. you

  1187. the

  1188. forgiveness

  1189. of

  1190. sin

  1191. he

  1192. offers

  1193. you

  1194. the

  1195. call

  1196. to

  1197. obedience

  1198. would

  1199. you

  1200. respond

  1201. to

  1202. him

  1203. today

  1204. as

  1205. the

  1206. Lord

  1207. and

  1208. Savior

  1209. of

  1210. your

  1211. life

  1212. would

  1213. you

  1214. pray

  1215. with

  1216. me

  1217. God

  1218. what

  1219. a

  1220. wonderful

  1221. and

  1222. beautiful

  1223. display

  1224. that

  1225. you've

  1226. given

  1227. us

  1228. in the

  1229. gift

  1230. of

  1231. yourself

  1232. and

  1233. who

  1234. you

  1235. are

  1236. God

  1237. how many

  1238. of us

  1239. have

  1240. fallen

  1241. short

  1242. all

  1243. of

  1244. us

  1245. every

  1246. single

  1247. one

  1248. of

  1249. us

  1250. none

  1251. is

  1252. righteous

  1253. not

  1254. one

  1255. so

  1256. you

  1257. offer

  1258. us

  1259. yourself

  1260. God

  1261. I

  1262. pray

  1263. today

  1264. that

  1265. there's

  1266. anyone

  1267. here

  1268. who

  1269. does

  1270. not

  1271. know

  1272. Jesus

  1273. Christ

  1274. as

  1275. their

  1276. Lord

  1277. and

  1278. Savior

  1279. God

  1280. that

  1281. today

  1282. would

  1283. be

  1284. their

  1285. day

  1286. of

  1287. salvation

  1288. God

  1289. I

  1290. pray

  1291. that

  1292. if

  1293. there's

  1294. any

  1295. sin

  1296. that

  1297. we're

  1298. holding

  1299. on

  1300. to

  1301. any

  1302. of

  1303. us

  1304. God

  1305. that

  1306. we'd
