The Man Jesus / / Bible Study Series Pt.1

We are so, so so excited and blessed for one to be in a new month, for God to allow us to see a new month and for God to allow us to be here on another Thursday night to start a new series that we are so excited about.

I believe this series is what we've really been leading up to.

We've been trying to get us in the place where we can really dive in and study who Jesus is.

So this series is entitled.

You see it, I know you see it it's the man Jesus.

What an awesome series to dive into and dig and study, because it's important that we know who Jesus is.

Come on, come on.

It's very important that we study the Gospels and know who it is that we serve who it is that we're calling on who it is that Jesus is.

So we're studying and this time we're starting with an aspect of Jesus.

We call it the man Jesus because we want to open our eyes and see Jesus as a man.

Come on, we left off in that last series.

How many were blessed by the last series?

It's a treat, so we close out the creation series with a powerful truth from our bishop.

He talked about Jesus Christ being the second Adam, meaning that God's first creation of man made some mistakes.

Oh, my God.

But through Jesus Christ he came to correct the issues and the problems.

And now it's important for us to study the man Jesus so we can find out just what Jesus did on our behalf.

Amen, awesome.

So again, I'm so excited.

I'm Pastor Davis.

I'm here with my bishop, god bless, bishop Tim Bid.

I'm here with my first lady, amen, elder lady Y, and we are excited we're digging into this new series.

So, without further ado, because we only have a few minutes of time, so stick with us.

We're going to have have you read an introduction, because we're talking about the humanity of Jesus.

Yes, put that on the screen.

Say that on the screen.

Say the humanity of Jesus.

Tell somebody Jesus was a man.

Jesus was a man.

I want you to put that on there, that does not forget that.

Is there a quarter?

Okay?

So I'm going to read what Google says the humanity of Christ refers to the reality that, in his incarnation, the Son of God assumed a complete human nature, with all its limitations, but without in any way surrendering his divinity, so that he might serve as humanity's representative, substitute and example.

Wow, amen, wow.

Serve as man's example and substitute.

Right, oh, this is great.

That's good so.

Jesus was a human.

That's right.

We got a scripture that backs this up, so you don't just have to believe Google Right.

So I'm going to be reading from Philippians, the second chapter, verses six through eight who, being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God, but made himself of no reputation and took upon him the form of a servant and was made in the likeness of men and being found in fashion as a man.

He humbled himself and became obedient until the death, even the death of the cross.

Amen, wow, wow, wow.

So he became a man of the nation to expand a little bit on it.

And then I know you have a scripture talking about him being tempted in it.

Amen.

So humanity of God, jesus took on flesh.

He was born through the Virgin Mary, so he came here, just like we came here.

Amen, matthew one.

Amen he came just like we came and he was here.

Amen, and I think your text.

You said he took on man's limitations.

Yeah, you talked about a God that had no limitations, right?

He took on the limitation of man.

Amen, my God, it lets us know.

Yes, he was a man, because we have limitations.

Exactly.

Why are you saying that, bishop?

I just want to make this very clear for you.

So, in you saying that he took on man's limitation, then is it okay for me to think that he could do something that I can't do, that he was able to have the operating ways that I don't have access to Jesus.

If he had the same limitations as I, then I have no excuse.

That's right.

Wow, we have no excuse because he took on all of our limitations.

Amen.

He was touched by everything we going through.

So we going to go through a scripture, because Pastor said it very clearly when we get to know who Jesus is, we know who our mentor is.

Amen.

This world is looking for mentors, they're looking for role models.

Yes, amen.

The church said Jesus is our role model, but you don't know who he is, right, you don't know what he went through, you didn't know he's up and he's down, he's high, he's low.

We just read these scriptures like he was supernatural, like a superman, right, but he was touched in every form that we going through, right.

So Matthew 4 and 1, 4 and 1, this is right.

After he was baptized, amen.

The Bible said then was Jesus laid up, uh, by the spirit into the wilderness to be tempted of the devil.

First thing, temptation.

Yes, ain't that a big thing in 2024?

We all deal with, we all deal with temptations.

Now, that ain't just got to be one area of temptation.

There's a whole lot of areas of temptations, amen.

The devil comes in a whole lot of ways.

People say, well, temptation, oh, I'm tempted by a woman, I'm tempted by a man.

But there's temptation to eat the wrong things, yes, amen.

Greed with money yes.

Tempted to steal, yes, tempted to kill.

There's so many temptations out there, but Jesus was laid up to do first thing.

Tempted, yes, tempted to go through the test of being tempted by the devil, by the devil himself.

Come on now, right, and I tell you what if the devil came to us and was going to tempt us straight on, we might not pass the test.

Yes, but Jesus went through it, so we can go through it Right.

Is that right?

Give us an example.

Amen, all right.

And then second verse.

And when he had fasted for the days and for the nights, he was afterward in hunger.

Wow, pastor, you telling me that Jesus, god made flesh, had to fast.

Yes, Just like we need to fast.

That's why we need to turn our plate down to conquer flesh, so flesh won't be dominant over the spirit.

So you telling?

me.

He had a flesh.

His flesh was a problem for him that he would have to kill it.

My God, ain't that something that tells the humanity of God Right Amen.

If he was in a spirit, he wouldn't have to deal with that.

And that leads us to believe that everything that Jesus went through, he passed the test.

That lets us know that, all these things that we're going through, that if we believe in trusting God, that we can pass the test as well.

Amen.

So although he became he, he hungered.

That lets us know we're going to hunger too, and so when he cast the devil down, we know that we have the power to cast Satan down as well, and we can overcome that.

We can.

We can be overcomers, and you know what I like about hunger.

When you hunger in the flesh, a weak flesh came fight, a weak demon came fight.

You get hungry, really hungry, amen.

You start listening to your spirit because, guess what, your flesh is tired, it's hungry.

I mean, sometimes we got to kill flesh.

Y'all remember the senior saying say you got to kill flesh, you got to kill it.

You got to kill it so it don't run and tell you what to do and lead you the wrong way.

That's right.

Intemptation and different things, Amen.

So we moving on, how many can be a witness?

Amen out there that you yourself had to fast and pray, Amen.

So there's no excuse.

No excuse, we're in it right now, right we?

right.

You can't say I'm only human.

We heard that I'm only human.

Lord knows I'm human.

Lord know Jesus was human.

Yes, I'm not Jesus.

Come on now I can't, god knows my heart, come on.

Amen, but don't let your heart get your body in trouble.

Exactly.

Come on now.

All right, let me keep moving.

Before we get into it, I want to read one more scripture.

Amen, it is in Hebrews.

Amen, the fourth chapter and the 15th verse, and it just summarized what we've been saying.

Right, amen, in this point, there are so many parts in the Bible we overlook his humanity.

Yes, how he was just like us.

Just like us Wasn't Superman, wasn't Batman, wasn't all these superheroes.

He was a man Just like us.

All right.

So 15th verse, fourth chapter.

15th verse, for we have not an high priest that cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities.

We don't have somebody that don't know nothing about us.

We don't have somebody that don't know what we feel and that don't know, that can't identify with what we feel.

Say that, say that how can he help us if he's never been through?

Who would we be able to call on to help us if we don't have, if we didn't have, someone that went through the same things that we went through?

Come on.

Come on, he wouldn't be able to identify.

Understand.

Understand the emotions, the feelings, no matter how much we cried and we fell out over whatever we was going through.

He would just say I don't understand that, I don't know about this.

Well, how could he help us if he don't know about it and he don't understand it?

But we have a Jesus that went through all of this, and so, therefore, when we call upon him, he knows exactly what we're going through.

Well, you know why this is so important.

This is so important.

I need you to listen.

Look at me, Listen.

This is so important because sometimes we find ourselves praying to God as if we don't think he understands.

Ways too much time we said that's in, lord.

You can't?

You see I'm going through, lord.

This is so hard, don't you understand, lord?

I'm sorry, but this is dead and we act like he's such a God that's out of touch, but we forget.

That's why it's so important that we not only just look at Jesus Christ as the man who, as the one who came and died for our sins, but we realized Jesus, the man, the man.

Man Jesus Amen.

Let me finish.

This guy, I want him, I want you to.

He said touch he was, touch he can.

He relates to it when you say I had to cry in the midnight hour.

He had to cry.

Go to the Kissimony in the middle hour.

Didn't he?

not cry, he cried he almost gave up.

Yes, yes.

Tell the truth and shame the devil he understands it I don't think you ain't there by yourself.

Right, we are going after mentors and we going after role models that don't have no clue what we come on is true, have no clue.

You running after people don't have a clue what you mean.

But the Jesus, the Christ, he understand.

He said the feelings of our infirmities, but was in all points.

Oh, not small, let me put it in your name.

Oh means all that, means all points.

Yeah, that's.

Somebody said what pastor you know I don't think he understand everything yes, all points.

I'm not gonna get too far cuz you might got children watching right now but in all points he was.

Oh points, would you go in.

Single woman, single man.

Oh, marry man, married woman, come on, oh, tempted you just.

You just said, well, I didn't know, did he have a girlfriend?

I said all points, you don't think he was hit on.

Come on, miss you.

You don't think he had to go through and turn people away?

Oh, we don't look.

We don't look as Jesus like, but in the Bible not that I've read in the Bible don't speak about that.

But he still was human.

Yeah, that's right.

And so he had these feelings and these, these emotions, like we have feelings and emotions, and so, although it was never talked about in the Bible, we don't know but guess what?

Yeah, because he had human nature.

That's right, human nature right, he said, but was in all points tempted, like as we are exactly like we, and we don't know what those particular temptations were.

All we know is he was tempted in all of them.

But the thing about it.

This is what we need to find out, and we need to Lock down and make sure we understand.

But he said yet with Out seeing without seeing, that means, you can do it.

You can do it.

Somebody Tell come on somebody you can tell somebody tonight.

Yeah, tell somebody, you can do it.

You can do it.

You can do it now.

That's why the the new generation, and anyway in the world, you can live whole.

Anyway, we attempted them.

Listen, when you have the Holy Ghost on the inside of you, yes, you gonna rattle, yes, you gonna have to fight, you're gonna have to plead the blood.

You got the room.

You want to go through some this kind.

You can do it, you can do it you can do it.

You can turn away seeing, you can walk away from seeing, you could turn your back on Saying oh, yes, you can, because Jesus did.

And here's the blessing Jesus showed us how to do it.

Exactly.

Oh my god, yes the bless, we have a road now.

He showed her, he did not just tell us we could do it, he actually took the time to show us, show, teach us how to do it.

Man is important, so I want to bring out another, another point, another interest.

In fact, I mean it being blessed.

Come on, throw some hearts up on the screen.

Yeah, I mean he realized is important that we see God as the man Jesus.

Yes, we see that he spent time as a man.

It's interesting when you, when I looked in and googled and researched, it's right there.

I asked Google question Because we've heard this phrase son of man.

Jesus called himself son of man.

So I said how many times in the Bible was he referred to as son of man?

And it's good.

And Google said 80 times, mm-hmm, 80 times.

The Bible wanted us to make sure we knew that he was the son of man.

This is apart from the all the times he called himself the son of God.

He's.

It was very important that the Bible tell us and let us know that he was also the son of man.

So what is son of man?

The son of man means the son of Adam.

That means he was born to a woman, just like everybody else on earth.

That's right.

He was a man, a man is important enough that is powerful.

So we have another scripture Amen, we want to bring up man.

This one is Jesus.

Yes, 11 so this is I'm coming from, which is the John 11.

I learned this when I was a little girl, because they always ask you what is the longest scripture in the Bible and what is the Shortest scripture in the Bible?

And this is the show.

If you know, if you are Bible scholar, you know that this scripture is the shortest Scripture, and it is John 11 and 35 Jesus wept.

Amen, jesus.

Well, I want you just what.

I want you to go back a couple verses and Read the scenario and why he went.

You understand his humanism.

His human side.

So I'm gonna go back, maybe to 20.

We want to go back to 25.

That's why.

Jesus said unto her I am the resurrection and the life, he that, believing in me, though he were dead yet, shall he live?

And who ever?

Who so ever liveth and believeth and me shall never die.

Believe is thou this?

Yet she said unto him Yay, lord, I believe that thou art the Christ, the Son of God, which should come into the world.

And when she had said so, she went her way and called and called Mary, her sister, secretly, saying the masses, come and call it for thee as Soon as she heard that she arose quickly and came unto him.

Now Jesus was not yet come into the town but was in that place where Martha met him, the Jews then which were with her in the house and Confident her when they saw Mary that she rose up hastily and went out, followed her, saying she goeth unto the grave to weep there.

Then, when Mary was come where Jesus was and Saw him, she fell down at his feet saying unto him Lord, if thou has been here, my brother had not died.

When Jesus therefore saw her weeping and the Jews also weeping which came with her, he groaned and the spirit and was troubled and when and and said where have you laid him?

They said unto him Lord, come and see Jesus wept.

That let's us know a whole lot.

Yes the human side.

Humanity, the humanity come on that God Compassion.

Yes, he had, he was sorry.

He had empathy yes seeing people cry around him Grieved him and made him cry.

Yes even though he knew that he had all the power to resurrect.

Just the emotions of the atmosphere Moved him in his emotion.

That's human.

That's how we are, mm-hmm.

We're around people broken and hurting, and it moves us.

Yes, it makes us.

It's not that we think that that there's no hope or that there's something wrong and they can't be a problem, they can't be solved, but just a pure emotion.

Amen.

That let's us know that Jesus had emotions.

Yes, huh.

That's powerful.

Let this sink into you right now.

But some of you are feel like you, so emotional and nobody understands where Jesus understands.

He had emotions.

Yeah, and it didn't mean that he don't have any faith.

Somebody think, just because I got so much emotion, I maybe I feel like, maybe I'm doubting God, I don't have no faith.

No, sometimes emotions just a human aspect and it definitely is yes, and I want to address those that don't have any emotions.

You say you got Christ in your life and you don't have any emotions.

Come on, something You're not touched by anybody else Come on you so hard you so tough.

Get over yourself, yeah, but all they cry for get over.

How many know that is not the Attributive.

God.

Amen, you should be have enough sympathy, empathy, to say you know what?

Let me at least know what's going on.

Mmm, amen, come on.

He feels what we feel.

Yeah.

So when we're hurting on the inside and we're grieved and you know we're crying on the inside, he understands what we're going through because he's been there.

He wept, so when we cry, he cries and he understands, and so, therefore, he had come to us and he can soothe our heart.

Come on, wipe our tears away.

Yes it's in the scripture.

He has sent a song, he has sent a confirmation to let us know that he's with us.

Yes, he will be with us and everything is gonna be alright yeah right.

So I want to take a moment for so many, because we don't never know who was watching us and who was listening to this and how it's ministering to them.

It's maybe you have been grieving, maybe you have suffered loss, maybe have gone through situations where your illness and your sickness and it seemed like people around you want you to just get over your emotions.

Come on now.

Come on get it together and get up, and they're trying to convince you that to be like Christ, you gotta just to shake it off.

Well, no, jesus also wept.

Yes, jesus also had emotional times as a man, and it showed us that nothing was wrong with it.

That's right.

If Jesus did it, it's nothing wrong when I do it.

Come on now.

Come on somebody.

Y'all remember the Garden of Gethsemane.

Yes, when Jesus cried to, his sweat came out as blood.

Come on somebody.

That's deep Come on.

Deep grown and emotional.

Yes, come on, so it's nothing wrong with it.

Tell somebody on the screen it's nothing wrong.

It's nothing wrong with it, and especially for a man, come on say that, Because some men are taught not to cry.

To hold in their emotions.

And you're less than a man if you sit up there and you want to cry, but Jesus was a man.

A man and he cried Amen.

And so it dispels that rumor that men should not cry.

You are human, you have emotions.

Yes.

It's OK to cry.

Let it out, because a lot of times when you hold those emotions in, it can affect you negatively.

Negatively number one and it also can stress, and that stresses you as well, and then it can affect your health.

Oh yeah.

And so crying is good.

Crying is good, it's a release.

I know we didn't read this, at least those endorphins.

We didn't read this.

But in 38, it said Jesus therefore, again groaning in himself, came coming to the grave.

He was still groaning.

Yeah, he was still hurting yeah.

He didn't get over it quick.

Yeah.

He didn't just say, OK, I'm just groaning.

He cried and he was groaning because his friend was dead.

Oh, come on now.

The person he loved was dead.

This was a friend of his.

And it's OK for us to have those emotions and it's going to come at any time.

At any time.

We want to minister, Like he said, we're ministering to those that you go to church and you never get a confident word.

You go to church and nobody said you know it's going to be all right, Because they just said go ahead, go on, go on Mount up, Get back on your post.

OK, get back on.

Get on, get right back on your, get on the archipelago, god, go fix it, pray about it.

But we need to be hospital nurses and doctors that they can come and get healing and deliverance and know that God is on that side and however long it takes Now that's the problem too They'll be with you.

If you don't take for two weeks, you take a month.

Oh Lord, you buy yourself, you buy yourself deuces.

I'm gone, amen.

But we want to still be that person that say you know what I got you?

Jesus got us, we got you.

Jesus showed that he was human.

He was human and somebody said well, why is this important?

Because when we can relate to him, we understand him Right.

If you are unrelatable, I can't understand you.

We're not in the ballpark, we don't understand you.

But when you are relatable, now I can say wow, he do understand Right.

Wow, he is touched by my infirmity.

Wow, he do cry.

Right, because he does hurt.

Yeah, because if he didn't, how could he know what we're going through, how could he feel what we're feeling?

How would he know how to help us?

You know, it's just like a baby that's crying, and we don't understand the baby language.

All we know is something is wrong.

And so how can a mother help a baby if they don't really know?

But you feel the compassion.

That's it.

You really don't know what's wrong with the baby.

You're trying to figure it out and so, thankfully, jesus went through all of these emotions as a human, and so he knows what we're going through and he can help us.

He can help us, and what I love about it is his example.

He showed us that we can be emotional but yet not being despair.

Yes, that we can be grown.

He went to the grave groaning in the inside and still saying Lazar, come forth Right.

That means you can have all the emotions from the loss and still speak life, still live in faith, still act on.

Come on, not accept the beat.

Somebody think, because you're crying, you're hopeless, or you're crying, you're sifting the beat.

No, I can cry and still be standing tall on my face.

Come on now, tell it truthfully.

You're not in a pitiful state.

That's right, you're in a state where you know what I believe and I trust in God, wherever I am in my emotions, that God is going to help me.

He's going to come and rescue me.

He's going to make it all right, and he's going to put a smile on my face.

Not just on my face, but a smile in my heart.

Yes, awesome, amen.

Whatever, while we're on, type under your name Any other places you know, you've read that he showed his humanity, amen.

Whatever other scriptures are there, these are just a few.

We can't go through them all, but put under your name something you know he was human.

It's plenty in the Bible.

It's so many.

Gospels.

You go through these three years.

He went man, he showed you.

He was human.

It's so many and I know you had another part that we're going to give you some scriptures that you can look up in case you want to know different ways that Jesus showed his humanity.

I want Lady Y to read something for you.

So there is ample evidence that Jesus was fully human, since he was born to a human mother, Mary.

So, Matthew 1 and 25,.

You also experienced hunger Matthew 21 and 18 and thirst John 19, 28.

Jesus also experienced temptation, in which Bishop Beard talked about in Matthew 4 and 1, pain and suffering Matthew 16 and 21.

And then he died Matthew 27 and 50.

Amen, every part so he went through all of that.

And plus more.

So we're just talking about that for right now.

Oh my God, so much more.

So the humanity of Jesus is great, you know I just thought about it and I love it.

I never thought about it.

In order for him to be able to experience what we experienced on all points, he also had to experience death, wow, wow.

So it won't even all just to redeem us, but also all to show us even how to die like we should.

But that is the full circle of life.

That's the full circle of life.

From birth to death.

Don't forget resurrection.

Come on completion of our human experience.

I love that because I was.

Many times we get to people, and I have some of us.

We have experienced some death and families and friends and people and a lot of times during the time of the close of people's life, we often start to wonder should we be praying for them to live a little longer?

Should we accept that this is their time to die?

What should we be praying?

How should we be praying?

What is God's will?

Should we be saying no, they can't die?

Is that God got to raise them?

What should we be doing?

But and some people think that because of some, especially the people of God, because of their great faith and how they live for God, that how they die troubles us.

Sometimes we like why they have to die of cancer, why they have to die in that car wreck or why in there.

But what I have found out is Jesus gave us an example of how to die.

Nobody died as hard as he did and he did it in victory.

While he was dying he didn't say woe is me, oh God, where you at Lee, look, he died victoriously.

And he could have called his heavenly father and Legion of Angels to come and rescue him from off the cross, but he knew that we needed a savior.

He knew that one day we were going to need him.

He knew that one day we were going to need to be saved and redeemed back to God.

Oh, yeah, and he was the one that was chosen to do the route, to do that for us, yes, and also he was there.

He know that we needed to see how to die in victory.

Yes we know that.

We need to see that, how you can live in faith and still die in victory.

Come on.

I can be in my sick bed and know it's as sickness as unto death, and I can say victory.

I can be telling the people around me God is faithful.

God is a healer.

God is great.

I might not be here tomorrow.

but what is the scripture?

Oh, death, words are victory.

Where is your victory?

Oh great.

Where is your?

Where is your steam?

Death word Great.

Where is your steam?

That's it.

He had taken all that away.

Yes, that when we die we have hope we don't die as unbelievers.

We don't, we don't die, we don't transition as unbelievers because we have hope.

It's no steam to die without death we have hope.

Amen.

I want to share this.

I hadn't shared this.

I'm going to share this real quickly before we get into it.

This is just something.

I'm glad you all said that.

But there is a whole different and I know you can relate or some of you all can relate to this between a death of a saint and a death of a saint?

Oh, yes, it is.

It is a total different.

It's so different I never had to experience.

Well, I had the opportunity to experience this, to see it for myself.

I heard about the death of a saint, death of a sinner, and I've seen people leave, take their last breath.

As a pastor, and I've seen people I pray with them as they move.

But the death of a saint, oh, it's powerful.

It is not like the death of a sinner, it is just they sleep, just sleep on.

They have a comfort there A peace, no struggle, no wrestling.

It's no torment, no horror, it's just they die and they go on in peace, opposed to what Jesus.

Jesus said hey, no man takes my life, I lay it down.

He laid it down and he gave up the ghost Very peaceful.

He could have died when they were piercing him.

He could have died when they was head nailing it.

That would have been a torment, but Jesus died in peace.

He said it is finished, it's finished, it's finished yes.

And on the flip side I've seen when people that know no Christ die and that's a horrible, horrible, horrible thing.

It is very very hurtful and horrible.

How immediately torment, yes, so much fear.

Oh my God, I never understood that, but I saw it for myself, so beloved.

What we are saying is Jesus gave us the example.

Yes, let's let him be our mentor, our God, our what?

Our example, our coach to move forward in this earth.

Yes Amen, the invictory is invictory.

Amen.
