What Happened Next : Psalm 110 | Selvin Cortez

Somewhere in the Psalms.

This is where we're at.

God is good.

God is good.

And I'm so excited about today.

I want to jump right in.

And usually what ends up happening is I give you a little bit of an intro, and then we go right in.

And I want to do that today, but before we get into that, there is something weighing on my heart.

And and that is that is you.

You are always on my heart.

I'm praying for you.

There's something that I need you to know that before you come into this place, every seat in this place right here is prayed for.

Even right now where you're sitting, we've prayed, and our team has prayed, and I've prayed.

I've gone in between the aisles and I'm praying for you.

And the reason why I do that is because I believe, I believe that God has something special for you.

I believe there's a relationship that is very unique and very special that God wants to have with you.

And when I think about when I think about my relationship with God, I want to share with you a quick little quick little secret.

Okay, this is this is my secret.

Um and and this is something that got that I felt God show me in how I relate to Him.

And that is somebody when my children were younger, somebody came up to them, and and it was uh not a complete stranger, but somebody that I didn't really know.

And and they were just observing my children, and and they came up to me afterwards and they said to me, Um, Selvin, I just want you to know that that your kids are wonderful.

Uh they were little.

Uh now they're not so much, but uh no, no, they still are, they still are, they're somewhere.

I love them, I love them.

They're in the back and in the front, they're everywhere.

Um uh they're wonderful.

But but he said, Selvin, I just want you to know that your your kids are wonderful and and and they're so so generous and so kind.

And I remember uh the reason why they said that was because uh at one point my my son was speaking to me and I didn't understand what he was saying, and and uh I said, uh I'm sorry, what did you say?

And and he said, uh, pardon me, dad.

And he used the word pardon me, and he said, Oh my goodness, they're so educated, and they came.

And and automatically what happened in my heart towards this person was gratitude.

Was thank you.

Uh, that's so kind of you.

Um, it opens up a door of relationship to somebody.

So, so because watch this, watch this, because they praised my children, my heart opened up to them.

Yeah, so here's what God showed me back then.

When you praise my son, when you remind me of how great my son is, the father says, My heart opens up to you.

And and remind me, remind me of how great my son is.

Speak to me of my son.

And that's why, that's why we sing and praise and shout and dance and play and and we're loud about it, and and and we we spend this moment in worship because what we're doing is we're opening God's heart and we're saying, God, Father, this is your son who I'm praising, who is my all, who is everything for me.

He is the creator of my being, he is the restorer of my soul.

I love him for what he did on the cross.

And every single time you praise, it's like the Father's heart just keeps opening up, opening up, opening up, and all he wants to do now is come and shower you and bless you with his goodness because you exalted his son.

And that's what we're gonna do today.

And so today, uh, when when when you watch when you watch a TV show, uh the the reason why I cannot, I'm sorry, I cannot get into Netflix, I can't get into uh Prime and all of this, it's not because I don't like them, it's not because I can't I can't deal with it, it's because at the end of the episode, they always leave you with uh a cliffhanger.

And you're just like, man, I'm tired, but I gotta know what happens next.

And then and then, man, I'm tired, I gotta know what happens next, turns into five episodes, six, more, more, seven, right?

It turns into the whole season in one night, right?

And it's because of those, blessed, uh, the because of those cliffhangers at the end of every episode or movie, and those drive me bananas.

And I think that's what's happening right now in the lives of the disciples.

You see, uh, the disciples have seen, have walked with Jesus.

They've seen miracles, they've seen him walk on water, they've he they've seen him heal the sick, they've seen him do so many amazing, amazing miracles.

They see him on the cross.

And then they see the greatest miracle of all the resurrection.

And he he resurrects from the dead, and the Bible says that for 40 days after he rose from the dead, he walked with them, he spoke with them, he ate with them.

Five hundred people witnessed his resurrection.

He was there in the flesh, in life.

He was there with them.

And they were glad.

It was almost like, okay, we're back to we're back to our reality.

We're back to walking with Jesus, we're back to uh praying with Jesus, eating with Jesus, sharing with Jesus.

We're back, we're back, he's back, he's gonna be here forever, we're we're gonna walk with him.

And then at day 40, Jesus ascends into heaven.

And in that moment, as Jesus ascends into heaven, I can almost hear the disciples' hearts asking the question: what happens next?

What happens now?

We've been used to walking with him for three and a half years, and now these 40 days, and we've seen the greatest miracle of all.

This is Jesus, this is the Messiah, this is God that has walked with us, and now he left.

What happened next?

And that's the cliffhanger, that's the part that that they're living in.

And this afternoon, for just a few moments, I want to tell you what happened next.

I want to show you the greatest psalm in the Bible, and and and you might be thinking the greatest psalm in the Bible is Psalm 23, the Lord is my shepherd, I shall not want.

Or you might be thinking, Psalm 91, and and and these psalms are great in and of themselves.

They're great, they're wonderful, but the psalm that is the most quoted, the psalm the most popular in the New Testament, spoken by Jesus, Peter, Paul, the writer of Hebrews, John, the psalm that is the number one psalm on their lips, is Psalm 110.

And Psalm 110, we're gonna just read it real quick and then we're gonna break it down.

Psalm 110 says this the Lord said to my Lord, Sit at my right hand until I make your enemies a footstool for your feet.

The Lord will extend your mighty scepter from Zion, saying, Rule in the midst of your enemies.

Your troops will be willing on the on your day of battle.

Arrayed in holy splendor, your young men will come to you like dew from the morning's womb.

The Lord has sworn and will not change his mind.

You are a priest forever in the order of Melchizedek.

The Lord is at your right hand, he will crush kings on the day of his wrath, he will judge the nations, heaping up the dead and crushing the rulers of the whole earth.

He will drink from the brook along the way, and so he will lift his head high.

That's it.

Seven verses, Psalm 110, the most powerful, the most quoted psalm in the New Testament.

And the reason why this is so great is because it answers the question what happens next?

What happens next?

And let me tell you, this is a psalm of David.

And for a moment, I want you to see this with me.

David is is in this moment.

He he uh I want to give you a little bit of the background, but I don't want to stay too much in it.

David has just conquered uh the city of Jerusalem, okay?

And and he he is he's conquered the city of Jerusalem, he's now reigning in Jerusalem, and he brings the Ark of the Covenant back to the city of Jerusalem.

And in that moment, in that moment, he establishes the kingdom of Israel over uh uh uh the kingdom of Israel, he establishes it in the city of Jerusalem.

Now, what does that mean?

That means that there were ten tribes to the north and two tribes in the south.

So all twelve tribes come together, and now they have a capital city where David is reigning.

And this is the culmination, this is the fulfillment of prophecy over the life of David.

Now, at this point, David is king over Israel.

He is the the most powerful human being on earth.

He has all, and and the the prophet Samuel also prophesies over him, and he says to him, David, your kingdom shall be forever.

And so imagine just for one second being King David in this moment.

You have all authority on the land, you have all power in the land.

There is nobody greater than you.

And all of a sudden, he looks up to heaven, and I want to feel, I want to see it like the heavens open up, and David gets to take a sneak peek into heaven.

And in that moment, the Bible says, the Lord said to my Lord, sit at my right hand.

This verse, this verse right here, the Lord said to my Lord, sit at my right hand.

David is prophetically seeing the ascension of Jesus into heaven after the resurrection.

And the Lord opens up the heavens, and David gets a sneak peek, and Jesus has now ascended from earth.

He is about to enter the heavenly realm.

And David says, The Lord said to my Lord, Yahweh the Father said to the Son, Sit at my right hand.

And David witnesses this incredible moment where the Old Testament points to Jesus, the gospels reveal what he did and his earthly ministry, his death, his resurrection, his ascension, and now the throne.

And throughout the Old Testament, God appointed three offices, three special moments, three special uh occupations that he would anoint.

And those three are the prophet.

The prophet is the person that revealed the presence, uh the the word of God.

The priest represented the people to God and the king who ruled over God's people.

Psalm 110 draws our attention to these three things.

Look at this slide for a second.

Psalm 110 has seven verses.

Seven verses.

The first three speak of the king.

The Lord said to my Lord, sit at my right hand.

We read this.

The first three verses speak of the kingship of Jesus.

The middle verse, the fourth verse, the verse that everything hinges on speaks of his priesthood.

And we're gonna get into that in a moment.

And then the last three verses speak of a prophetic moment, a time that is to come.

And we're not gonna get into the last three verses, although that's my heart.

I want to get into the last three verses with you because that speaks of a future time that is coming that we haven't lived yet.

And so in Psalm 110, these three offices are being are being fulfilled.

Christ as the king, Christ as the priest, Christ as the prophet.

And so Psalm 110 is is amazing.

And for a thousand years, God separated the office of the king from the office of the priest.

They were two completely different things.

The king carried authority, the prophet carried relationship, the king sat on a throne, the priest, the priest stood, always ministering.

And so the first picture, the first image that heaven has of a resurrected Jesus, stay with me, the first image that heaven sees of the resurrected Jesus is a king seated on a throne.

He is seated, and the Father says, sit at my right hand, a position of power and rest.

Sit at my right hand, the cross guarantees us the victory.

His resurrection shows us that we have hope for the future.

His seated, him sitting down, his authority over all dominion, over all power, over every single spirit in heaven, on earth, and below the earth.

He is seated on the throne.

What is Jesus doing right now?

He is seated on the throne.

That's the picture that heaven pro that heaven gives to us every moment from this moment forward is living underneath of that throne.

After his ascension, he sits on the throne.

And so if Christ can rest on his throne, you can rest on his reign.

The purpose of a king is to establish justice and rule.

The purpose of a king is to offer you protection and provision.

That's what a king does.

A righteous king brings righteousness and justice.

A righteous king provides and protects.

You are provided for and protected over.

You are given authority because you have a king.

We need a king.

We need a king so that we know that our enemies have been defeated.

But then the question becomes: if our enemies are defeated, if Jesus is sitting on the throne right now, why then am I wrestling with sin?

Why then am I am I hurting?

Why is there sickness?

What's going on right now?

If he is sitting, ruling and reigning, why am I going through these situations in my life?

And the reason that happens, and and God is very specific, the reason that happens is because there's one word that changes it all.

Look at this.

The Bible says, the Lord said to my Lord, sit at my right hand.

The right hand of power and authority.

There is nothing greater than Jesus sitting, seated beside the Father in heaven.

He reigns and rules.

The next word is until.

Until I make your enemies your footstool.

Jesus is already enthroned.

His enemies still exist.

Why?

Because the revelation is what comes after.

It says this, until I make your enemies a footstool for your feet.

A footstool for your feet.

So there is this, there is this time that we're living in.

This time between between the enthronement of Jesus and the completion of his kingdom.

We live in this moment here, between enthronement and completion.

We live in the until.

We live right here, right smack in the middle, between Jesus being seated on the throne and the fulfillment of all of his enemies being placed as a footstool under his feet.

What does that mean?

What does that mean?

And to understand what this means of his enemies being a footstool, we've got to go back to Joshua chapter 10.

Joshua 10 · chapter mention

Okay, I don't want to make it too long for you, but have you ever heard the story of Joshua in a battle and he's winning the battle so long as there is daylight?

And in the moment, I know this sounds so weird and so supernatural, but Joshua knows that as long as the sun is in the air, in the sky, he will have victory.

And as the sun starts setting, the Bible says that his enemies start gaining ground over them.

And so Joshua speaks to the Lord and he declares that the sun be still.

What?

And the sun is still, and the Bible says that as the sun remained still, he had victory over his enemies.

And he did.

There were five kings, five kings that came up against Israel.

And in that moment, the kings went fleeing.

They saw that Israel had won the battle.

Joshua had defeated the enemies of Israel.

And these kings they went fleeing into a cave.

And in that moment, Joshua says, Go get them.

The victory had already been won.

The victory had already been won.

Militarily, the victory, the battle has already been won.

Jesus conquered enemy, the enemy on the cross, the battle is already won.

The thing that's missing is the public demonstration of Of that victory.

And that's what completion is all about.

So here's what it is in that moment, Joshua takes these five kings and they are presented before him.

And Joshua says, He doesn't do it himself.

He doesn't do it himself.

He asks his leaders to come up and they place the kings, these five pagan kings, before them.

And Joshua gives them the order: put your foot on their neck.

Place your foot on your enemy's neck.

And it wasn't Joshua that did it, it was his people that did it.

And that moment when they placed their foot on the king's neck, that was the physical, the visual representation of the battle being completed, being won, and now the victory being declared.

And so Jesus is doing the exact same thing.

He's seated on his throne.

He's seated on his throne.

And the Bible says, until I make your enemies your footstool.

So there is a moment, there is a moment that is coming when every single enemy that has been defeated has to be ridiculed before the people, before us.

The enemies of God have to be outwardly exposed.

And there is this moment of victory where he commands us.

We are his church.

The Bible says that he is placing all of his enemies under his feet.

His feet represent us, the church.

And the last enemy to be defeated will be death.

And so we are living in the until.

Every tongue in heaven and earth shall declare your glory.

Every knee shall bow at the sound of the name of Jesus.

This is going to be, amen.

This is going to be a public spectacle of the enemies of God, with the last one being death.

And Paul says this in 1 Corinthians 15, 25.

Paul also quotes this psalm and he says, He must reign until the final enemy.

So right now, what you're living through right now is the demonstration that Jesus is sitting on his throne and he has given you the authority to the Bible says to stomp on serpents and scorpions.

The Bible has given you authority over your enemies.

The Bible, because Jesus is sitting at the right hand of the Father on the throne, we saw this last week that Jesus invites us to sit with him on that throne.

And that's what drives the enemy bananas.

It drives the enemy crazy because he wants to sit on that throne.

And the reason he was cast out of heaven was because there was pride that was found in his heart.

And he said, I will be like the Almighty.

I will sit on his throne.

And in that moment, God cast him out of heaven.

And so in his morbid mind, he's saying, How can they sit on the throne when I wasn't able to?

And the reason we can is because we've got a king who sits there.

And that king is ruling and reigning and protecting and providing for his people, us, his church.

And in that moment, the king reigns.

And he reigns, the Bible says, he reigns with a scepter in his hand.

He reigns with a scepter.

And that scepter is a scepter of power.

And when he drops the scepter, everyone hears it.

The angels quiet down.

Heaven and earth is waiting for what's going to come out of his mouth.

What declaration is going to come out of his mouth when he drops the scepter of majesty and glory.

And the hand, the hand that holds the scepter has a hole in it.

Why?

Because we need a king to bring righteousness and justice.

We need a king to provide.

We need a king to protect.

But that's not all he is.

The Bible says in verse four that he is also our priest.

He is also our priest.

Now stay with me, church.

In the Old Testament, and for a thousand years, the office of the priesthood and the office of the kingship were separated.

The first king of Israel was Saul.

He was a first king.

And he came from a tribe called the tribe of Benjamin.

And Saul, he started out pretty good, but he neglected something from God.

See, Saul started out the kingdom of Israel.

He started as their first king, but he left the presence of God in another city.

He didn't even bother bringing the Ark of the Covenant, the presence of God, back to him.

He ruled from a city called Hebron.

And I'm sorry, Gilgal.

And he he he didn't bring that that presence back to him.

He left it there.

He ignored the presence of God and he became boastful.

But he knew, he knew that it was important.

And in one specific battle, he brings uh the presence, the Ark of the Covenant, he brings it into a battle, and the Bible says that they had victory in that battle.

And then he put it away.

He took it back to that city and then continued his reign.

He now has another battle to go up against, and he's losing this one.

And they are outnumbered, something like 10 to 1.

And he knows that he cannot win this battle if they don't offer a sacrifice.

And so he's waiting for the prophet.

Remember, prophet, priest, king, all separate offices.

He's waiting for Samuel to come in and make an offering to God because they cannot start the battle.

They cannot win the battle without an offering.

And the hearts of the warriors are starting to, they start to tremble and they start to leave.

They start to flee from the battle.

They start to retreat all on their own.

And so Saul, desperate to get them back united, what he does is he starts offering.

He starts doing the offering himself.

He starts providing the offering himself.

And in that moment, guys, God says, No more.

Samuel shows up as soon as he's done with the offering.

Samuel says to him, What have you done, Saul?

And Saul says, I didn't know if you were coming, you were late.

Where have you been?

I had to do this, otherwise, my my my my soldiers were going to retreat.

I had to do it.

And Samuel says to him, Because you have done so, I will God has separated you from his kingdom.

If you would have waited for me, if you would have waited for me to do this, God would have established your kingdom forever.

But because you didn't wait, because you did this thing, God has rejected you and has chosen a man after his own heart, and upon his throne will be the everlasting throne.

Saul in that moment got rejected by God.

And I think, wow, he didn't do anything wrong.

In my mind and in my sight, he didn't do anything wrong.

He he offered up a sacrifice to lift up the morale of his troops.

What did he do wrong?

Why is God casting him out?

And that's where Psalm 110 answers us.

The Lord has sworn, verse 4, and he will not change his mind.

You are a priest forever in the order of Melchizedek.

So God through Moses, follow with me.

God through Moses establishes the priesthood.

And the priests had to come from the tribe of Levi.

And every other king after Saul has to come from the tribe of Judah.

Why is Jesus our king?

Because he is the lion of the tribe of Judah.

He is in the bloodline to become king and to be king and to rule lawfully.

Now, Saul is from the tribe of Benjamin.

He is not from the tribe of Levi.

Levi are the ones that are the priests for God.

And in that moment, he does something that is reserved just for the Levites.

He breaks the rule, the command that you're not allowed to do this, only priests are allowed to do this.

You are a king.

You are not a priest.

And so in that moment, he gets rejected by God.

Now watch this.

Jesus is king and priest.

And when I was asking God, why were you so harsh on Saul?

The answer is because Saul was trying to do something that is reserved for one and only one person in the history of the world.

And that is Jesus.

That office, the ability, the ability to sit on the throne and be a priest is only reserved for Jesus.

And he's not from the tribe of Levi.

The Bible says that he is from the order of Melchizedek.

Now, that's a whole other story, and we're not going to go too deep into it.

But before Israel was a nation, if we go back in time a little bit further, back to Abraham, the Bible says that this man, ready for this?

This man shows up for Abraham in front of Abraham.

And the Bible says that his name is Melchizedek.

No father, no mother, and no descendants.

Yet Melchizedek was a priest of Almighty God, and he was the king of Salem.

Salem is Jerusalem.

Melchizedek is a priest before God even establishes the priesthood through Levi.

And so Jesus is our priest.

Jesus becomes our priest forever.

And what does that mean?

That as David is revealing that Jesus is the priest, as king he's also a priest.

That means that a priest, a priest represents the people to God.

A king represents God to the people.

And so in the Old Testament, a priest would receive all of your offerings, and you would have to make an offering for all the sins you committed.

So if you had many sins, you would have to present a lamb before God.

You would present it to the priest.

And in fact, you would have to present two lambs, two lambs to God.

And one lamb that you presented to God, the priest would put his hands on it.

And the the righteousness of the lamb, the sinlessness of the lamb was transferred to you.

And your sin was transferred into the lamb.

And that lamb was then cast out into the desert.

The second lamb that you had to present was the one that was going to be sacrificed.

And it was through the blood of the second lamb that your sins were covered.

They were not taken away, they were just covered.

But you can't present that before God because you were a sinner then.

And so you had to give it to the priest.

The priest would take it, and the priest would take the blood of that animal and go into the Holy of Holies and present a sacrifice for you.

He was your representative.

The problem is if the priest had sin in him, your sins would not be forgiven, and the priest would die in the presence of God.

And so when the Bible says that Jesus is our high priest, what it's actually saying is you now have a representative.

A king has a hard time being righteous or executing justice, and at the same time being merciful.

There's a story, and you've probably heard it before if you've been around church a while, of a young man that he got pulled over.

He got pulled over for speeding, and he shows up to court, he's got a court date, shows up to court, and you know he's being really honest with the judge.

And he says to the judge, um, yes, I am guilty.

I am guilty of speeding.

And the judge sees him and has to execute the order, the punishment.

And the punishment is he was excessively over the speed limit.

So now you've got to pay a thousand dollars, you've gotta give up your car keys for a month, and I'm gonna take away ten demerit points.

And the young man says, I I don't have a thousand dollars, I I I can't pay it back.

And he says, Well, at that point, you're gonna have to go to jail.

And that's gonna be the payment for the crime.

And so moments after that, this young man walks out of the courthouse free.

And everybody's looking around thinking, what's going on?

What happened?

Uh, he should be in jail.

He should have gone to jail.

What happened?

And it turns out the judge was his dad.

And the judge executes the order over his son.

He takes off his robes and goes to pay the fine in order that his son may go free.

That's our king.

That's our priest, that's our shepherd, who leads us.

And though we have sinned, though we are sinners, yet, in his love, he paid the price for our sin.

And now he invites us into the throne.

And and church, what is Jesus doing right now?

He is sitting and he is reigning, he is providing for you, and he is protecting you, and he is giving you his authority.

That at the sound of the name of Jesus, you can produce miracles.

At the sound of the name of Jesus, you can see transformation, healing, restoration.

That is him sitting on the throne.

You know what else he's doing?

What a high priest is good at, and that is praying.

And so he's praying for you.

Now, at the end of the service, we're gonna have a team up here that is gonna help, and they're they're gonna be up here praying with you, and they're gonna be praying for you, and we bless them, and it's a great team, and there's power in the prayer that this team is going to effectuate over your life.

Can you imagine Jesus praying for you?

Come on now.

You've got a hurt, he's praying for you.

You've got a need, he's praying for you.

You've got a desire, he's praying for you.

What better prayer?

What more powerful prayer on in all of the universe, in all of the existence?

What mightier prayer is there than the God of heaven, Jesus, seated on the throne in majesty, praying for you, praying for you, interceding for you.

And so you see, we sometimes we can pray five minutes, ten minutes, an hour.

He is incessantly praying for you.

He never stops.

He never stops thinking about you.

You are on his mind every second of the day.

When you're awake, when you're sleeping, at work, in your car, wherever you are, you are on the king's mind.

And the priest, after the order of Melchizedek, is praying for you.

He's praying for you, church.

And what greater victory do we have?

What greater calling?

And all of this is happening right now between the enthronement and the completion.

Between the enthronement and the completion.

If Jesus were only a king sitting on a distant throne, we might feel abandoned.

Yeah, he's a king.

You know, we don't have a monarchy, but have you ever met King Charles?

Can you even meet King Charles?

Can we just knock on his door and say, hey, here I am?

You can't.

Without an invitation, there's no way you're ever going to meet him.

And if you ever get the opportunity or the chance to, there are so many protocols and hoops that you have to jump through.

I actually think, and I could be wrong, but I actually think you're not even allowed to shake his hand.

You have to bow, and that's it.

That's as close as you're ever gonna get.

The king of the universe is also a priest.

And he invites you with open arms, and he will put the scepter down and show you his wounded hands and the stripes on his back and the scar on his side to say you are welcome into my presence.

You are welcome into the throne of grace, where you will receive grace above grace, mercy upon mercy, gift upon gift, not because you deserve it, but because he does.

Because there was a divine exchange that happened at the cross, we gave him our sin, and he gave us his righteousness, and we can enter into the throne until tomorrow.

Until tomorrow, because the king will come back.

The Bible says that he's coming back in all splendor and all glory, and in that moment every enemy will become his footstool, every promise will become sight, every knee will bow, and every tongue will confess that Jesus Christ is Lord.

And the day is coming.

Church, the day is coming when there will be no more tears, no more pain, no more suffering, no more hurt, no more want, no more hunger.

His kingdom will be established here on earth.

And we will be among his kings and his priests and his holy nation.

He is coming back, and when he comes back, he will sit on his throne and he will make his enemies a footstool, and it will be a public display of his greatness for all to see that he is God, that he is king, that there is no other for all eternity, there has never been anyone like him.

And he will reign and rule for all eternity, and we will be seated next to him, beside him.

Paul says this this light, this light tribulation that you're living right now is going to be fulfilled when he comes back.

Church, what you do right now in the until speaks volumes in heaven.

What are you doing right now in this moment between the enthronement of David when he sees Jesus sitting on the throne and the fulfillment, the completion of that moment?

What are you doing right here in the until?

What are we doing right now?

Let me tell you, church, in in this study, I have I have grown, my faith has grown so much over the last couple of days.

Where I know that that in the until he's still reigning, in the until he will reign, in the until he asks me to come into his presence, boldly enter into his presence, boldly stand in his presence, boldly ask, boldly ask your king, ask him, and he will do.

Ask, and it shall be given.

Knock, and the priest will open the door and allow you to come in.

What are we doing in the until there are people that need that need your faith?

They don't have the faith to know that they can enter into God's presence because they see themselves as sinners.

They need your faith.

They need you to know.

Somebody right now is struggling with.

Should I take the step or should I not take the step?

Should I should I end it all right now or should I continue?

Somebody right now is wrestling with these thoughts, and they need you to lead them in the until they need you to know that you know that you can enter into his presence, that you can ask, and that you can receive mercy and grace.

There is a reason why this psalm is so great.

There's a reason why this psalm is throughout the entire Bible in the New Testament.

It's because it declares, it shows us that He is King above all kings, Lord above all lords, but he is also the priest that invites us into a deep personal relationship with him.

And the Apostle Paul and the writer of Hebrews is so invested, and it is so urgent to write to you and to me that He is God.

And so, church, I want to ask you to stand to your feet, and I'm gonna give you some homework.

And it's not it's not homework that that you're gonna be like, okay, I was in the I was reading the Gospels and now now I'm asked to do something else.

Listen, the Gospels are beautiful.

There's no greater writings than the Gospels.

The Gospels show us Christ and His mercy and His kindness and His goodness.

They show us Christ's character and His morals and His His deity and His Lordship.

I want to invite you to read Hebrews chapter four all the way to chapter 10, six chapters, and really ask God to show you what he is doing right now.

The writer of Hebrews expounds and opens up the mystery of what is happening right now in heaven for you and for me.

That is the glory of our King.

And so God is good, and the King reigns forever, and the priest is praying for you.
