  1. Thank you for listening to this message from Life House Church.

  2. Good morning, good morning.

  3. Hey God is good isn't he?

  4. Turn to somebody give him a high five and tell them God is awesome.

  5. He is awesome because he is.

  6. I heard you worshiping, praying this morning and we need to recognize Jesus every time

  7. we come in the building we need to recognize the Father, the Son, the Holy Spirit and it

  8. is good to have you here and we honor the Lord this morning coming together with worship.

  9. This morning before I minister I want to take an opportunity to do something that is very

  10. important here at Life House.

  11. For weeks we have been announcing that Pastor Andrew and Alicia and their family are moving

  12. on in ministry.

  13. God has given them a new position, a new assignment in ministry and many of you have been wondering

  14. or we have talked about who is going to replace them in the student ministries area and I

  15. am going to ask if Pastor Alyssa Calhoun would come, would you give her a hand?

  16. Come on give her a warm welcome.

  17. She is with us this morning and she is going to be the new, you can get front and center

  18. come on.

  19. I want to see you not me.

  20. They see me all the time.

  21. But she is going to be the new student ministries pastor here and she is going to be working

  22. with children and youth.

  23. She comes with great credentials, she is a Penn State graduate, she is also an ordained

  24. minister in the Church of God and she has a track record for doing amazing things in

  25. the kingdom.

  26. We have kept tabs on her for a while now, she didn't know that we were stalking her

  27. a little bit.

  28. But we were watching and she is a PA girl, she is from Bedford County and we know the

  29. family and Jeff and Kim it is so good to have you here, her parents are here this morning

  30. and it has been a delight to get to know Alyssa and Ryan her fiance who is sitting up front

  31. here and they are getting married in April by the way.

  32. So we wanted to take this opportunity to give her a moment just to say hello to you and

  33. then after that we are going to pray over Alyssa and we are going to install her as

  34. the student ministry pastor here.

  35. I am going to ask if the deacons would come up first and get in behind her and then we

  36. want the rest of the congregation to come up because this is a church thing, amen?

  37. This is family business.

  38. And we want to install Alyssa and just let her get an opportunity to meet you and to

  39. know you so after the gathering if you haven't talked with her yet you need to do that and

  40. all you students out there definitely get up here and get introduced but if you would

  41. just go ahead and maybe share just for a moment or so.

  42. Sure, I will be relatively quick again so like Pastor Kip said my name is Alyssa and

  43. that is my fiance Ryan.

  44. We are super, super excited to be here.

  45. We have been looking forward to this since we started talking and we are just really

  46. excited to see what God is going to do.

  47. We have been praying over it.

  48. We believe that there are some really incredible things that are going to happen here and so

  49. we are really excited to be a part of it.

  50. We love the family and the community that is here already and we are excited to keep

  51. it going.

  52. Yeah, thank you.

  53. Well listen I am going to ask Ryan would you come up with her as well?

  54. Mom and dad come on up.

  55. We need to get you in behind but if you would just kind of maybe stand right there.

  56. I am going to ask if the deacons would make their way to the front if you would if you

  57. serve on the deacon board and then listen let's do this.

  58. Hey teens and kids let's get you up in here behind the deacons.

  59. Come on.

  60. This is your pastor right here.

  61. So I want the children and the kids come up the teens.

  62. They all know how to pray right?

  63. Come on.

  64. I am going to get one of my mic.

  65. That will really get them going.

  66. Just come up.

  67. I want you to get around as well.

  68. Church come up.

  69. We are going to work as many of you as they can as possible for you to make your way out

  70. and you can face them and we are going to, here is what we are going to do.

  71. You know the laying on of hands is a biblical concept.

  72. It is something that is talked about and spoken about in the Bible.

  73. So what we want to do is a point of contact.

  74. We want everybody to make a point of contact in front of them.

  75. Touch the person's shoulder in front of you.

  76. I know we are not going to be able to get everybody up front because we have a lot of

  77. people in the house.

  78. But we are going to take opportunity because this is important.

  79. This is family business.

  80. We want to make sure that we recognize that this is God's call and they are stationed

  81. here at Life House.

  82. So Father we come before you.

  83. We are just grateful, thankful this morning Lord for what you are doing in Pastor Alyssa

  84. and Ryan's life.

  85. Lord God we thank you for the call in their life.

  86. God the assignment on their life.

  87. We thank you Lord for the heart that they have for student ministry.

  88. And Lord I am just praying right now God that your hand, your anointing would be upon them.

  89. God I know your seal is there.

  90. God I know your call is there.

  91. But Lord God we, God right now establish that in this house Lord, in this congregation.

  92. And Lord we just give you praise.

  93. We give you glory.

  94. We give you honor this morning.

  95. And we thank you for all that you are going to do in their lives.

  96. God here in Carlisle at the East Shore campus as they just oversee student ministries we

  97. just give you praise.

  98. We give you honor this morning and everybody said together amen.

  99. Now listen afterwards don't do it now but afterwards you just need to hug them alright.

  100. Hug the life out of them after your gathering.

  101. Thank you so much for praying and if you are visiting this morning thank you for indulging

  102. us for a few moments to do this very important thing as we go.

  103. So if you would just make your way, listen shake somebodies hand on the way back.

  104. Do something crazy.

  105. Say hello.

  106. You can hug somebodies neck on the way back.

  107. God's been so good to us here.

  108. Has blessed us with so many children and teenagers and we are blessed with youth in this facility

  109. and in this house and we are grateful for that.

  110. We are thankful for that and you have got your job cut out for you.

  111. There is a bunch of kids here and a bunch of teens.

  112. We are really believing for what God is going to do in hearts and lives and we know God's

  113. plan going forward is going to be amazing.

  114. Well listen I am going to start a message series this week and it is called Great Conversation.

  115. Great Conversation.

  116. I want to read you something out of a little article I read.

  117. It is kind of out of a book.

  118. Sherry Turkle a professor at MIT the author of Alone Together, Why We Expect More From

  119. Technology and Less From Each Other has spent years studying how our plugged in lives has

  120. changed who we are.

  121. She claims that all of our technological devices have produced a world in which we are always

  122. communicating but we are seldom having real conversations.

  123. I agree with Sherry's research and writing.

  124. We live in a world that is always communicating in some form or fashion probably half of you

  125. have been on your phone set at some point this morning even since you came in the doors

  126. right but we are seldom having those real conversations.

  127. Plenty of communication that is on a surface level that may be the light.

  128. Plenty of digital one sided conversations that go on where somebody is hiding behind

  129. a screen and typing away whatever they are thinking or feeling or whatever their opinions

  130. are.

  131. Plenty of spin and opinion on things but rare is the conversation that is making a difference

  132. in somebody's life.

  133. Change things that really shift what is taking place and here is the deal we need good conversation

  134. in our life.

  135. It is important for our spiritual well being but we need great conversation in our life

  136. because it is critical to our spiritual, our emotional and our physical survival.

  137. You might say that is a little dramatic pastor.

  138. It isn't.

  139. It is the truth.

  140. We must get into great Jesus conversation with others.

  141. They need to hear us and we need to hear them for our survival spiritually, emotionally

  142. and even ultimately physically.

  143. We need to hear words in our ears that bring life and Jesus showed us this.

  144. He modeled it.

  145. He did it on a regular basis and it is threaded all through scripture, all through the New

  146. Testament.

  147. Jesus changed lives with great conversation.

  148. Turn to somebody right now and tell them we are going to talk great conversation this morning.

  149. We are going to talk great cuts.

  150. Come on preach at them just a little bit.

  151. I don't want to be the only one preaching.

  152. Jesus still changes lives through great conversation.

  153. He did it back then.

  154. He is doing it now.

  155. Now listen I am very aware that when I start talking about great conversations and you

  156. engaging in great conversations that runs chills up some of your spines.

  157. Some of you are like man I hate having conversations with people I don't know.

  158. Some of you are like I have a conversation bubble that I work just fine in.

  159. There is this bubble that I have and I am fine with conversations in my bubble.

  160. How many know a bubble?

  161. It is kind of a perimeter.

  162. Kind of a circle that is around me.

  163. And I am good with having conversations in my conversation bubble.

  164. But you are telling me I need to go outside of my conversation bubble.

  165. Some of you are like peace out I am going to lunch.

  166. I want to hear that.

  167. How many know that most of us have a conversation bubble?

  168. If you recognize that raise your hand.

  169. How many of you have a conversation bubble?

  170. Come on.

  171. Some of you are happy.

  172. You have a conversation bubble right?

  173. You do.

  174. And here is the thing with our conversation bubble.

  175. We only let X amount of people in that bubble.

  176. We kind of pick and choose who goes in there.

  177. And if you are inside the conversation bubble you will talk somebody's ear off.

  178. And some of you get outside your conversation bubble and you are like people think you are

  179. mute.

  180. You get outside the conversation bubble and you don't talk at all.

  181. People swear you are mute.

  182. You get inside the conversation bubble and you are going crazy.

  183. You talk somebody's ear off.

  184. You ever meet someone like that?

  185. I remember when I was youth pastoring we would have teenage girls like that sometimes in

  186. particular and I am not picking on the girls but this was true they would come into the

  187. youth group and they are all just shy and they are just quiet and then all of a sudden

  188. they get to know a couple of girls and they talk so fast and so long you think their jaws

  189. are going to lock up.

  190. Like they are just gone.

  191. Because they are in their bubble.

  192. They are in with the people that they know.

  193. They are in with the people they love.

  194. Now I know there are some of you sitting out here and you are like there is a conversation

  195. bubble.

  196. Some of you talk to anybody right?

  197. If something has a pulse you are in.

  198. You are going to talk to anybody.

  199. It doesn't matter where you are at.

  200. But I have great news for you.

  201. If you are in the bubble or you are outside the bubble right?

  202. There is good news.

  203. You can get into great conversation because what I practice inside the bubble I will ultimately

  204. do outside the bubble.

  205. What I practice in the conversation bubble right?

  206. If I am talking Jesus inside my conversation bubble.

  207. If I am talking Jesus with other people.

  208. If I am going to my life group.

  209. The little plug there.

  210. If I am going to my life group and I am talking about Jesus in the life group and I do that

  211. enough inside the group you know what happens?

  212. It spills out into the outside of the group.

  213. It really does.

  214. Because anything that is on overload spills out right?

  215. If you are doing it a bunch here it is going to spill out somewhere else.

  216. So the next several weeks going on this complete month we are going to talk about great conversations

  217. that happened in scripture and what we can learn from those great conversations.

  218. So you have your Bible this morning.

  219. You can go to John chapter 3.

    John 3 chapter mention

  220. We are going to start off with verse 1.

    1 John 3:1

  221. John chapter 3 verse 1 and this particular portion of scripture Jesus is having a conversation

  222. with a guy named Nicodemus.

  223. Say Nicodemus while you are turning.

  224. Nicodemus I am going to pray over the word.

  225. Lord we thank you for this day God for your blessings God as we turn into your word.

  226. God I pray you prepare our hearts.

  227. Your word is already blessed so God just open our hearts open our minds to receive your

  228. word and God that we might hear and God not only hear but Lord it would change us and

  229. shift us.

  230. God the move in your circle and in your presence and we just give you glory in Jesus name.

  231. Amen.

  232. This particular portion if you are still turning in John chapter 3 is about this man named

    John 3 chapter mention

  233. Nicodemus and I just want to give you just a short little bio on him.

  234. Nicodemus was a Pharisee and typically Pharisees were against Jesus.

  235. Typically they were in complete opposition to Jesus.

  236. They were constantly challenging Jesus on every front publicly and privately both.

  237. They would come up against Jesus.

  238. They thought he was a heretic.

  239. They didn't believe in him.

  240. They didn't think he was a legitimate teacher and so this was normally the Pharisees view

  241. of Christ but Nic is a little bit different.

  242. I'm calling Nic for short.

  243. Nicodemus he is a little bit different.

  244. This patriotic traditional religious ritualistic teacher ruler of the Jews and he is a member

  245. of the Sanhedrin which is the highest serving court in Jewish culture at that time.

  246. He was fascinated with Jesus.

  247. He had an interest quietly of course because his colleagues were on the other end but quietly

  248. he had this fascination with Jesus.

  249. He was curious and he was open to the possibility that Jesus might in fact be a teacher sent

  250. from God.

  251. So that's where we pick up in John chapter 3 verse 1 it says this.

    John 3:1

  252. There was a man of the Pharisees named Nicodemus a ruler of the Jews.

  253. This man came to Jesus by night and he said, Rabbi we know that you are a teacher come

  254. from God.

  255. So no one can do these signs that you do unless God is with them.

  256. On the front end of this conversation with Jesus Nicodemus does not come in to the table

  257. like normal Pharisees.

  258. He doesn't come in with interrogating or difficult questions that they want answered.

  259. He doesn't lead in with loud accusations or a defensive accuse of any kind but he acknowledges

  260. Jesus as a teacher from God.

  261. He acknowledges that there is actually evidence in Jesus life of the power of God working

  262. in him and he starts this conversation with Jesus actually with great respect for Jesus.

  263. And Nic believes that Jesus is legit.

  264. Somewhere in his heart he believes that even though Jesus doesn't hold the credentials

  265. of studying under Gamal and other leaders religious leaders even though Jesus doesn't

  266. hold those credentials that somehow this Jesus is not a heretic but he is in fact a teacher

  267. from God.

  268. And Nic comes into this conversation in a very respectful manner but Jesus does not

  269. respond with the same soft niceties.

  270. He gets right to the heart of why Nicodemus is coming to him.

  271. He goes right to see a teacher who probably honestly if he had been left in normal conversation

  272. probably would have got lost somewhere.

  273. If Nicodemus would have been left to just conversate he probably would have got lost

  274. in splitting some kind of theological hair somewhere and at the end of the day the conversation

  275. might not have led to anything.

  276. But Jesus doesn't respond that way.

  277. Listen to how he responds in verse 3.

  278. He says Jesus answered and said to him most surely I say to you unless one is born again

  279. he cannot see the kingdom of God.

  280. Nicolás comes in kind of with soft niceties and showing respect and Jesus gets right to

  281. the chase.

  282. He totally throws Nic off his conversation game.

  283. If he says if you want to see the kingdom of God if you want to get near God your life

  284. has been spent in religiosity and chasing religion but if you want to get where God

  285. is you got to be born again.

  286. Nicodemus everything in your life has got to change.

  287. It has got to become brand new.

  288. Nicodemus hasn't heard this before.

  289. This is all new.

  290. Right.

  291. Doctrine and I think he just set him back completely.

  292. He's probably thinking I just came I thought I was going to get into conversation with

  293. Jesus right talk about the mosaic law a little bit maybe some Jewish history.

  294. Let's debate a little bit about the prophets going back and forth but what Jesus said Jesus

  295. hit him square.

  296. And what am I saying now this great conversation has to include conversation about new life

  297. in Jesus.

  298. Great conversation has got to include the conversation about having new life in Jesus

  299. inside the bubble outside the bubble right.

  300. We should be looking and we should be talking about new life in Christ new birth in Jesus.

  301. How can that happen.

  302. How can we experience new life in our Lord and Savior testifying say testifying testifying

  303. of what God's done in you that's brand new since you came to Christ.

  304. Right.

  305. If we know Jesus as Lord and Savior we should be able to categorically go down through and

  306. recite in our own lives right in your own words what God has changed in me.

  307. There should be some personal things that God's changed in me and the new work that

  308. Jesus is doing in my life.

  309. Right.

  310. We should be able to explain that that I was dead in sin and I was far from God and when

  311. I came to Jesus now I'm alive.

  312. Right.

  313. That's baptism and I come up brand new in him that the only way to God is through Jesus

  314. that there there is no other life right.

  315. All other life leads to death outside of Jesus.

  316. We should be able to talk about that when we great conversation right.

  317. Jesus conversation always includes Jesus and new life in him.

  318. Some way some form some shape.

  319. Right.

  320. And and we know that it's easy.

  321. It's easier to do this inside the bubble.

  322. How many know it's easier to do it in church.

  323. Right.

  324. It's easy to talk Jesus in the church is comfortable in the church.

  325. If you're with brothers and sisters and Lord you've been a Christian.

  326. It's easy to call a church chat.

  327. Right.

  328. We can do church chat.

  329. We can get into talking about Jesus all day long.

  330. You get into your life group.

  331. Right.

  332. And we're talking about the Lord talking about what the word of God says and what it means

  333. and how it brings new life into your into my personal life in your personal life.

  334. And we should be doing that.

  335. But we should be looking for that to overflow so much inside the bubble that that flows

  336. out when we get outside the bubble.

  337. Right.

  338. That there's overflow naked demons.

  339. He was a deeply educated man in old religion and really kind of what God had set out in

  340. the mosaic law to try to get close to God.

  341. His mental picture of getting near God probably meant keeping the law as closely as you can.

  342. It meant getting as educated as you can in the ways of God.

  343. Right.

  344. And he was you know deep religious practices that he would do so much to the extreme even

  345. he would have a picture of going to the temple and making sacrifice for his sin.

  346. Right.

  347. Really actually taking a lamb and sacrificing that line at lamb for the sin in his life.

  348. He was for him it was religion.

  349. It was if he was he was thinking if I'm pious enough if I'm religious enough if I'm educated

  350. enough right if I'm serving on the highest council which he did in Jewish culture if

  351. I got enough of that then maybe I'm going to have new life in God.

  352. And Jesus blows his theory right out the window and says Nickadamus you got to be born again.

  353. You got to find new life in me.

  354. It's all got to change in me.

  355. You're involved in good stuff Nick.

  356. Right.

  357. You're involved in good things no doubt but you need to experience God by experiencing

  358. me.

  359. Jesus.

  360. You got to be born again.

  361. New life in Christ.

  362. Great conversation includes new life in Jesus.

  363. Now I got to ask you a question.

  364. If think about I want you to go back maybe categorically in your mind the conversations

  365. that you've had over the last week and I want you to just kind of think about the different

  366. people that you've talked with the people you've intersected with the people that you

  367. know you maybe came across in life and I want you to think about how many of them conversations

  368. had anything to do with new life in Jesus.

  369. I want you to think about the words that were spoke were any of the conversations that you

  370. got involved in over the last seven days you know since we were here last Sunday did any

  371. of those conversations involve anything that had to do with new life in Christ what Jesus

  372. was doing right.

  373. Come on I know this is challenging.

  374. You go back and start thinking was there one conversation I had was there two conversations

  375. was there no conversation right.

  376. How many conversations did I have about new life with Jesus.

  377. Nicodemus is stunned and he's not getting what Jesus is saying.

  378. I think what Jesus said rattled him.

  379. I don't know I wasn't there I'm just speculating but I think it threw him off his game a bit

  380. right because if you read in verse four about this encounter Nicodemus he doesn't come back

  381. and start asking questions he gets rattled and now listen he's educated right and highly

  382. educated and he says Nicodemus said to him how can a man he's talking to Jesus he's really

  383. he's going back to Jesus.

  384. Jesus says you need to be born again and Nicodemus said to him how can a man be born again when

  385. he's old.

  386. Can he enter a second time into his mother's womb and be born.

  387. I think Jesus tilted his head and looked at him like are you crazy.

  388. Right.

  389. You know what I think Jesus may I don't know if Jesus rolled his eyes you know but he rolled

  390. his eyes in Nicodemus right there.

  391. Do you know who you are.

  392. So Jesus answered him in verse five he says this most assuredly I say to you unless one

  393. is born of water right that's physical natural birth and the spirit he cannot enter the kingdom

  394. of God that which is born of flesh is flesh and that which is born of spirit is spirit

  395. do not marvel that I said to you you must be born again the wind blows where it wishes

  396. and you hear the sound of it but can you but cannot tell where it comes from or where it

  397. goes so is everyone who was born of the spirit.

  398. Come on Nick right.

  399. Come on they could name us we're talking about spirit things here we're talking about things

  400. that you can't see you can't see wind but you can sense wind you can see the results

  401. of when you can say hey come on Nick you know what we're talking about here we're not talking

  402. about the physical right now we're talking about the spiritual born again you know what

  403. it is to be born again in the flesh right or to be born the first time but we're talking

  404. about spirit birth here we're talking about you know what it is to come alive in Christ

  405. and great conversation means we include spiritual conversation we include spiritual conversation

  406. it's easy to get caught and having conversation right if we're going to get into a conversation

  407. it's easy to have conversation about the world around us right it's easy to talk about the

  408. physical things around us how many know it's easy to talk about the weather that's one

  409. of the first things we go to it's a big go-to right especially if you're older like I am

  410. I don't know what it is oh god we like to check the weather the older you get and you're

  411. a guy I don't know what it is just like I got to check the weather app I got to know

  412. why you got to know what's happening out there right it is right we like that it's easy to

  413. talk about those things we love the site we like to talk about the news we right now politics

  414. right the hot button right now it's politics we like to talk about our schedules we like

  415. to talk about last night's game we like to talk about what we ate last night right some

  416. of you take pictures and send it to people some of you post it on social media I had

  417. corn you know okay great okay you know that we do that right it's easy to talk about the

  418. physical things and it's easy to talk about somebody that went off the rails right somebody

  419. that you know that went off the rails or something that went off the rails that you were doing

  420. how many we really love to talk about people that went off the rails right we're Christian

  421. sharing right we're gossiping all right so it's easy it's easy to do those things it's

  422. our default it's where we live right we converse we talk about what we hear what we see what

  423. we smell what we taste what we feel we talk about those things but something spiritual

  424. comes up in the middle of the conversation everybody's like crickets right silence you

  425. can hear the proverbial pin drop you know something spiritual comes up why does that

  426. happen why does that take place and I don't know is it because we feel like you know spiritual

  427. conversations are too complex maybe for casual conversation you know that's that's a complex

  428. subject of some kind do we think maybe it's way too personal some people are like well

  429. that's a very personal thing we can't talk about that in casual conversation right well

  430. let's keep it very physical and emotional in the conversation but let's not go to the

  431. spiritual do we feel unequipped some people talk about feeling unequipped unqualified

  432. right lacking the right training it's hard to explain and we start to squirm at the thought

  433. of diving into something spiritually in a conversation like well you know what yeah

  434. but here's the thing honestly that's a little bit funny that it's funny that we tighten

  435. up when it comes to spiritual conversation because everyone's sitting in this room listening

  436. online whoever's at East Shore this morning right worshiping there every one of us sitting

  437. in here we possess something that we possess from our very first breath and it's three

  438. things say three things you possess what you've possessed from birth you possess your body

  439. say your body you possess your soul say your soul and your spirit right none of you you've

  440. had all three before they ever put clothes on you when you were born right you had your

  441. body your soul and your spirit and you are as much spirit as you are soul and you are

  442. as much spirit as you are body and vice versa we're as much spirit we're as much spiritual

  443. beings as we are physical beings or emotional beings we're all three right we have body

  444. soul and spirit and how many of you just didn't pick up your spirit on the way to church this

  445. morning right you don't just get spiritual on Sundays you didn't stop downtown Carlisle

  446. say yeah got to pick up a spirit on the way to church right got my body got my my soul

  447. my mind will and emotions but I gotta stop and pick up my spirit this morning that's

  448. not how it works you've had all three always 1st Thessalonians 523 says how now may the

  449. God of peace himself sanctify you completely and may your whole spirit and soul and body

  450. be kept blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ you've always been in possession

  451. of all three it's what makes you you so we should be comfortable talking about all three

  452. body soul and spirit in the bubble and out of the bubble right I should be comfortable

  453. conversing about the physical stuff in my life now I want you to turn right now only

  454. do this if you know the person sitting beside you because it would be weird if you don't

  455. but turn to the person right beside now and pinch him pinch him on the arm right now give

  456. him a good one all right pinch him on the arm tell him oh you are physical okay all

  457. right that's their physical body very easy to do right it's easy for us to pick up on

  458. the physical side of things right that's physical but we should also be comfortable talking

  459. about our soul and your soul is your mind will and your emotions now if you pinch somebody

  460. hard enough that was sitting beside you I can guarantee you probably just stirred up

  461. their soul a little bit right their emotions got stirred a little bit they're thinking

  462. something in their will that they want to do to you a little bit later right they're

  463. got their intentions are there right our soul is a primary spot for our mind and our will

  464. and our emotions and some of us will conversate all day long about the physical and some of

  465. us even get pretty comfortable conversating about our soul well you know especially to

  466. those inside the bubble we how many know inside the bubble you don't mind telling somebody

  467. what's on your mind you don't mind telling them how you're feeling it that day right

  468. you don't even mind telling them your intentions sometimes if they are inside your bubble right

  469. some of you can do all three of those at one time you're an expert at conversating in all

  470. three of those at one time and you'll spew out your emotions and your intentions right

  471. and all of it all in the same on the same breath you might have did it on the way to

  472. church this morning there was a lot of kids in the house this morning your children might

  473. have been goofing off in the back seat and you just about dislocated your neck right physically

  474. to turn around and express your soulish emotions while declaring your will and intentions as

  475. soon as you can get free from your seatbelt right it's body mind will and emotions together

  476. it's all those together we can typically can converse about the body and the soul pretty

  477. naturally but we should as with the spirit as well because it's the spirit that makes

  478. up the deepest part of you it's the deepest part of you I want you to think yourself I

  479. wanted you to picture yourself in this manner this morning I want you to think of yourself

  480. as three circles right three concentric circles so there's this big circle on the outside

  481. that's part of you and that's your physical side that's your body so I didn't say your

  482. body was big but go with me on this okay big big circle right on the outside and that represents

  483. your body but there's an inner ring right if you go in and you make a ring inside of

  484. that bigger ring there's the soul part of you and if you go in again and go in a little

  485. to the core of who you are you're going to find your spirit man your spirit woman that

  486. eternal part of you that got places in every human being and you got a body you got a soul

  487. and then you got a spirit in that kind of order and it's the deepest level of connection

  488. that you will make with another individual in conversation is in that core part of you

  489. it is that spirit side of you that is that deepest part of you and Jesus jumped right

  490. to this with Nicodemus he went right to his spirit he bypassed the physical niceties he

  491. went right past his emotions or how he was feeling or his opinions along the way right

  492. his mind will and emotions and he went right to the core where Nicodemus lived and he said

  493. man you got to be born again this thing's got to be new from the inside out because

  494. here's the thing when Jesus redeems us what's the first thing he redeems in our life when

  495. we believe that he is Lord and we confess with our mouths that we are sinners and we

  496. are far from God and sin is separating us from God and we bend distance from him when

  497. we recognize that he is the Savior and we come to him and we say Lord I commit to follow

  498. you I realize my sin I confess it I repent come into my life when that happens you know

  499. what Jesus redeems first in you your spirit you go from death to life in your spirit we

  500. always work from the outside in God works from the inside out he renews your spirit

  501. you are born again inside because what's in there is dead you are a dead if you didn't

  502. if you don't know this man if you don't have Jesus you're a dead man or dead woman walking

  503. you're a zombie all right it's true but he renews that spirit side and once he renews

  504. the spirit he goes out a little further right and he starts to renew our soul how many know

  505. after you get saved he starts to change your emotions a little bit he starts to change

  506. your will right these things the mind he starts to change your mind about some things he renews

  507. your mind so he works out and then one day one day not now in the next life the word

  508. of God tells us that we're going to step into heaven and he's going to give me a brand new

  509. body what's corruptible is going to become incorruptible and he's going to change the

  510. body he works from the inside out so when he had this conversation with Nick he didn't

  511. stick out in the outer circle Jesus didn't just talk nice to him he didn't even get to

  512. the next circle in he went right to the spirit and if we're going to have great conversations

  513. somehow someway in our conversations we got to get to the heart of it we got to get to

  514. right we got to point people to God we got to get them to Jesus and you might think well

  515. that sounds like a complicated thing it is not my mind quickly went back as I'm getting

  516. ready to close my mind quickly went back I just said ready but my mind quickly went back

  517. to a time when I was walking through an airport and I'll never forget this and I've told this

  518. story here before but as long as I live I'll never forget I had a conversation that was

  519. less than ten seconds with an individual and he ministered to my spirit in ten seconds

  520. I was going through and the person how many of you go into an airport there's always people

  521. that are assigned to work for the airlines that transport people that might be in wheelchairs

  522. or you know have a lot of stuff and they're pushing around there's this guy he's just

  523. pushing this person in a wheelchair and they're coming along and I held the door open somewhere

  524. I held the door open and I held the door open and as this guy is going by he looked at me

  525. he said hey that's just how our Lord does right the Lord just steps up he opens the

  526. door for us and in ten seconds time he spoke something about the Lord Jesus into my spirit

  527. and he went right by me and I'm like and he looked me square in the eye and said man that's

  528. how our Lord does if we allow him to right he opens the door in our life and he walked

  529. right by me I'm like boom right it wasn't hey how's it going it wasn't you know how

  530. you feeling today right my mind will emotions he went right to the spirit he just tell me

  531. about what God does great conversation less than ten seconds great conversation I'm going

  532. to ask you to stand support.
