Thank you for listening to this message from Life House Church.
-
Good morning, good morning.
-
Hey God is good isn't he?
-
Turn to somebody give him a high five and tell them God is awesome.
-
He is awesome because he is.
-
I heard you worshiping, praying this morning and we need to recognize Jesus every time
-
we come in the building we need to recognize the Father, the Son, the Holy Spirit and it
-
is good to have you here and we honor the Lord this morning coming together with worship.
-
This morning before I minister I want to take an opportunity to do something that is very
-
important here at Life House.
-
For weeks we have been announcing that Pastor Andrew and Alicia and their family are moving
-
on in ministry.
-
God has given them a new position, a new assignment in ministry and many of you have been wondering
-
or we have talked about who is going to replace them in the student ministries area and I
-
am going to ask if Pastor Alyssa Calhoun would come, would you give her a hand?
-
Come on give her a warm welcome.
-
She is with us this morning and she is going to be the new, you can get front and center
-
come on.
-
I want to see you not me.
-
They see me all the time.
-
But she is going to be the new student ministries pastor here and she is going to be working
-
with children and youth.
-
She comes with great credentials, she is a Penn State graduate, she is also an ordained
-
minister in the Church of God and she has a track record for doing amazing things in
-
the kingdom.
-
We have kept tabs on her for a while now, she didn't know that we were stalking her
-
a little bit.
-
But we were watching and she is a PA girl, she is from Bedford County and we know the
-
family and Jeff and Kim it is so good to have you here, her parents are here this morning
-
and it has been a delight to get to know Alyssa and Ryan her fiance who is sitting up front
-
here and they are getting married in April by the way.
-
So we wanted to take this opportunity to give her a moment just to say hello to you and
-
then after that we are going to pray over Alyssa and we are going to install her as
-
the student ministry pastor here.
-
I am going to ask if the deacons would come up first and get in behind her and then we
-
want the rest of the congregation to come up because this is a church thing, amen?
-
This is family business.
-
And we want to install Alyssa and just let her get an opportunity to meet you and to
-
know you so after the gathering if you haven't talked with her yet you need to do that and
-
all you students out there definitely get up here and get introduced but if you would
-
just go ahead and maybe share just for a moment or so.
-
Sure, I will be relatively quick again so like Pastor Kip said my name is Alyssa and
-
that is my fiance Ryan.
-
We are super, super excited to be here.
-
We have been looking forward to this since we started talking and we are just really
-
excited to see what God is going to do.
-
We have been praying over it.
-
We believe that there are some really incredible things that are going to happen here and so
-
we are really excited to be a part of it.
-
We love the family and the community that is here already and we are excited to keep
-
it going.
-
Yeah, thank you.
-
Well listen I am going to ask Ryan would you come up with her as well?
-
Mom and dad come on up.
-
We need to get you in behind but if you would just kind of maybe stand right there.
-
I am going to ask if the deacons would make their way to the front if you would if you
-
serve on the deacon board and then listen let's do this.
-
Hey teens and kids let's get you up in here behind the deacons.
-
Come on.
-
This is your pastor right here.
-
So I want the children and the kids come up the teens.
-
They all know how to pray right?
-
Come on.
-
I am going to get one of my mic.
-
That will really get them going.
-
Just come up.
-
I want you to get around as well.
-
Church come up.
-
We are going to work as many of you as they can as possible for you to make your way out
-
and you can face them and we are going to, here is what we are going to do.
-
You know the laying on of hands is a biblical concept.
-
It is something that is talked about and spoken about in the Bible.
-
So what we want to do is a point of contact.
-
We want everybody to make a point of contact in front of them.
-
Touch the person's shoulder in front of you.
-
I know we are not going to be able to get everybody up front because we have a lot of
-
people in the house.
-
But we are going to take opportunity because this is important.
-
This is family business.
-
We want to make sure that we recognize that this is God's call and they are stationed
-
here at Life House.
-
So Father we come before you.
-
We are just grateful, thankful this morning Lord for what you are doing in Pastor Alyssa
-
and Ryan's life.
-
Lord God we thank you for the call in their life.
-
God the assignment on their life.
-
We thank you Lord for the heart that they have for student ministry.
-
And Lord I am just praying right now God that your hand, your anointing would be upon them.
-
God I know your seal is there.
-
God I know your call is there.
-
But Lord God we, God right now establish that in this house Lord, in this congregation.
-
And Lord we just give you praise.
-
We give you glory.
-
We give you honor this morning.
-
And we thank you for all that you are going to do in their lives.
-
God here in Carlisle at the East Shore campus as they just oversee student ministries we
-
just give you praise.
-
We give you honor this morning and everybody said together amen.
-
Now listen afterwards don't do it now but afterwards you just need to hug them alright.
-
Hug the life out of them after your gathering.
-
Thank you so much for praying and if you are visiting this morning thank you for indulging
-
us for a few moments to do this very important thing as we go.
-
So if you would just make your way, listen shake somebodies hand on the way back.
-
Do something crazy.
-
Say hello.
-
You can hug somebodies neck on the way back.
-
God's been so good to us here.
-
Has blessed us with so many children and teenagers and we are blessed with youth in this facility
-
and in this house and we are grateful for that.
-
We are thankful for that and you have got your job cut out for you.
-
There is a bunch of kids here and a bunch of teens.
-
We are really believing for what God is going to do in hearts and lives and we know God's
-
plan going forward is going to be amazing.
-
Well listen I am going to start a message series this week and it is called Great Conversation.
-
Great Conversation.
-
I want to read you something out of a little article I read.
-
It is kind of out of a book.
-
Sherry Turkle a professor at MIT the author of Alone Together, Why We Expect More From
-
Technology and Less From Each Other has spent years studying how our plugged in lives has
-
changed who we are.
-
She claims that all of our technological devices have produced a world in which we are always
-
communicating but we are seldom having real conversations.
-
I agree with Sherry's research and writing.
-
We live in a world that is always communicating in some form or fashion probably half of you
-
have been on your phone set at some point this morning even since you came in the doors
-
right but we are seldom having those real conversations.
-
Plenty of communication that is on a surface level that may be the light.
-
Plenty of digital one sided conversations that go on where somebody is hiding behind
-
a screen and typing away whatever they are thinking or feeling or whatever their opinions
-
are.
-
Plenty of spin and opinion on things but rare is the conversation that is making a difference
-
in somebody's life.
-
Change things that really shift what is taking place and here is the deal we need good conversation
-
in our life.
-
It is important for our spiritual well being but we need great conversation in our life
-
because it is critical to our spiritual, our emotional and our physical survival.
-
You might say that is a little dramatic pastor.
-
It isn't.
-
It is the truth.
-
We must get into great Jesus conversation with others.
-
They need to hear us and we need to hear them for our survival spiritually, emotionally
-
and even ultimately physically.
-
We need to hear words in our ears that bring life and Jesus showed us this.
-
He modeled it.
-
He did it on a regular basis and it is threaded all through scripture, all through the New
-
Testament.
-
Jesus changed lives with great conversation.
-
Turn to somebody right now and tell them we are going to talk great conversation this morning.
-
We are going to talk great cuts.
-
Come on preach at them just a little bit.
-
I don't want to be the only one preaching.
-
Jesus still changes lives through great conversation.
-
He did it back then.
-
He is doing it now.
-
Now listen I am very aware that when I start talking about great conversations and you
-
engaging in great conversations that runs chills up some of your spines.
-
Some of you are like man I hate having conversations with people I don't know.
-
Some of you are like I have a conversation bubble that I work just fine in.
-
There is this bubble that I have and I am fine with conversations in my bubble.
-
How many know a bubble?
-
It is kind of a perimeter.
-
Kind of a circle that is around me.
-
And I am good with having conversations in my conversation bubble.
-
But you are telling me I need to go outside of my conversation bubble.
-
Some of you are like peace out I am going to lunch.
-
I want to hear that.
-
How many know that most of us have a conversation bubble?
-
If you recognize that raise your hand.
-
How many of you have a conversation bubble?
-
Come on.
-
Some of you are happy.
-
You have a conversation bubble right?
-
You do.
-
And here is the thing with our conversation bubble.
-
We only let X amount of people in that bubble.
-
We kind of pick and choose who goes in there.
-
And if you are inside the conversation bubble you will talk somebody's ear off.
-
And some of you get outside your conversation bubble and you are like people think you are
-
mute.
-
You get outside the conversation bubble and you don't talk at all.
-
People swear you are mute.
-
You get inside the conversation bubble and you are going crazy.
-
You talk somebody's ear off.
-
You ever meet someone like that?
-
I remember when I was youth pastoring we would have teenage girls like that sometimes in
-
particular and I am not picking on the girls but this was true they would come into the
-
youth group and they are all just shy and they are just quiet and then all of a sudden
-
they get to know a couple of girls and they talk so fast and so long you think their jaws
-
are going to lock up.
-
Like they are just gone.
-
Because they are in their bubble.
-
They are in with the people that they know.
-
They are in with the people they love.
-
Now I know there are some of you sitting out here and you are like there is a conversation
-
bubble.
-
Some of you talk to anybody right?
-
If something has a pulse you are in.
-
You are going to talk to anybody.
-
It doesn't matter where you are at.
-
But I have great news for you.
-
If you are in the bubble or you are outside the bubble right?
-
There is good news.
-
You can get into great conversation because what I practice inside the bubble I will ultimately
-
do outside the bubble.
-
What I practice in the conversation bubble right?
-
If I am talking Jesus inside my conversation bubble.
-
If I am talking Jesus with other people.
-
If I am going to my life group.
-
The little plug there.
-
If I am going to my life group and I am talking about Jesus in the life group and I do that
-
enough inside the group you know what happens?
-
It spills out into the outside of the group.
-
It really does.
-
Because anything that is on overload spills out right?
-
If you are doing it a bunch here it is going to spill out somewhere else.
-
So the next several weeks going on this complete month we are going to talk about great conversations
-
that happened in scripture and what we can learn from those great conversations.
-
So you have your Bible this morning.
-
You can go to John chapter 3.
John 3 chapter mention
-
We are going to start off with verse 1.
-
John chapter 3 verse 1 and this particular portion of scripture Jesus is having a conversation
-
with a guy named Nicodemus.
-
Say Nicodemus while you are turning.
-
Nicodemus I am going to pray over the word.
-
Lord we thank you for this day God for your blessings God as we turn into your word.
-
God I pray you prepare our hearts.
-
Your word is already blessed so God just open our hearts open our minds to receive your
-
word and God that we might hear and God not only hear but Lord it would change us and
-
shift us.
-
God the move in your circle and in your presence and we just give you glory in Jesus name.
-
Amen.
-
This particular portion if you are still turning in John chapter 3 is about this man named
John 3 chapter mention
-
Nicodemus and I just want to give you just a short little bio on him.
-
Nicodemus was a Pharisee and typically Pharisees were against Jesus.
-
Typically they were in complete opposition to Jesus.
-
They were constantly challenging Jesus on every front publicly and privately both.
-
They would come up against Jesus.
-
They thought he was a heretic.
-
They didn't believe in him.
-
They didn't think he was a legitimate teacher and so this was normally the Pharisees view
-
of Christ but Nic is a little bit different.
-
I'm calling Nic for short.
-
Nicodemus he is a little bit different.
-
This patriotic traditional religious ritualistic teacher ruler of the Jews and he is a member
-
of the Sanhedrin which is the highest serving court in Jewish culture at that time.
-
He was fascinated with Jesus.
-
He had an interest quietly of course because his colleagues were on the other end but quietly
-
he had this fascination with Jesus.
-
He was curious and he was open to the possibility that Jesus might in fact be a teacher sent
-
from God.
-
So that's where we pick up in John chapter 3 verse 1 it says this.
-
There was a man of the Pharisees named Nicodemus a ruler of the Jews.
-
This man came to Jesus by night and he said, Rabbi we know that you are a teacher come
-
from God.
-
So no one can do these signs that you do unless God is with them.
-
On the front end of this conversation with Jesus Nicodemus does not come in to the table
-
like normal Pharisees.
-
He doesn't come in with interrogating or difficult questions that they want answered.
-
He doesn't lead in with loud accusations or a defensive accuse of any kind but he acknowledges
-
Jesus as a teacher from God.
-
He acknowledges that there is actually evidence in Jesus life of the power of God working
-
in him and he starts this conversation with Jesus actually with great respect for Jesus.
-
And Nic believes that Jesus is legit.
-
Somewhere in his heart he believes that even though Jesus doesn't hold the credentials
-
of studying under Gamal and other leaders religious leaders even though Jesus doesn't
-
hold those credentials that somehow this Jesus is not a heretic but he is in fact a teacher
-
from God.
-
And Nic comes into this conversation in a very respectful manner but Jesus does not
-
respond with the same soft niceties.
-
He gets right to the heart of why Nicodemus is coming to him.
-
He goes right to see a teacher who probably honestly if he had been left in normal conversation
-
probably would have got lost somewhere.
-
If Nicodemus would have been left to just conversate he probably would have got lost
-
in splitting some kind of theological hair somewhere and at the end of the day the conversation
-
might not have led to anything.
-
But Jesus doesn't respond that way.
-
Listen to how he responds in verse 3.
-
He says Jesus answered and said to him most surely I say to you unless one is born again
-
he cannot see the kingdom of God.
-
Nicolás comes in kind of with soft niceties and showing respect and Jesus gets right to
-
the chase.
-
He totally throws Nic off his conversation game.
-
If he says if you want to see the kingdom of God if you want to get near God your life
-
has been spent in religiosity and chasing religion but if you want to get where God
-
is you got to be born again.
-
Nicodemus everything in your life has got to change.
-
It has got to become brand new.
-
Nicodemus hasn't heard this before.
-
This is all new.
-
Right.
-
Doctrine and I think he just set him back completely.
-
He's probably thinking I just came I thought I was going to get into conversation with
-
Jesus right talk about the mosaic law a little bit maybe some Jewish history.
-
Let's debate a little bit about the prophets going back and forth but what Jesus said Jesus
-
hit him square.
-
And what am I saying now this great conversation has to include conversation about new life
-
in Jesus.
-
Great conversation has got to include the conversation about having new life in Jesus
-
inside the bubble outside the bubble right.
-
We should be looking and we should be talking about new life in Christ new birth in Jesus.
-
How can that happen.
-
How can we experience new life in our Lord and Savior testifying say testifying testifying
-
of what God's done in you that's brand new since you came to Christ.
-
Right.
-
If we know Jesus as Lord and Savior we should be able to categorically go down through and
-
recite in our own lives right in your own words what God has changed in me.
-
There should be some personal things that God's changed in me and the new work that
-
Jesus is doing in my life.
-
Right.
-
We should be able to explain that that I was dead in sin and I was far from God and when
-
I came to Jesus now I'm alive.
-
Right.
-
That's baptism and I come up brand new in him that the only way to God is through Jesus
-
that there there is no other life right.
-
All other life leads to death outside of Jesus.
-
We should be able to talk about that when we great conversation right.
-
Jesus conversation always includes Jesus and new life in him.
-
Some way some form some shape.
-
Right.
-
And and we know that it's easy.
-
It's easier to do this inside the bubble.
-
How many know it's easier to do it in church.
-
Right.
-
It's easy to talk Jesus in the church is comfortable in the church.
-
If you're with brothers and sisters and Lord you've been a Christian.
-
It's easy to call a church chat.
-
Right.
-
We can do church chat.
-
We can get into talking about Jesus all day long.
-
You get into your life group.
-
Right.
-
And we're talking about the Lord talking about what the word of God says and what it means
-
and how it brings new life into your into my personal life in your personal life.
-
And we should be doing that.
-
But we should be looking for that to overflow so much inside the bubble that that flows
-
out when we get outside the bubble.
-
Right.
-
That there's overflow naked demons.
-
He was a deeply educated man in old religion and really kind of what God had set out in
-
the mosaic law to try to get close to God.
-
His mental picture of getting near God probably meant keeping the law as closely as you can.
-
It meant getting as educated as you can in the ways of God.
-
Right.
-
And he was you know deep religious practices that he would do so much to the extreme even
-
he would have a picture of going to the temple and making sacrifice for his sin.
-
Right.
-
Really actually taking a lamb and sacrificing that line at lamb for the sin in his life.
-
He was for him it was religion.
-
It was if he was he was thinking if I'm pious enough if I'm religious enough if I'm educated
-
enough right if I'm serving on the highest council which he did in Jewish culture if
-
I got enough of that then maybe I'm going to have new life in God.
-
And Jesus blows his theory right out the window and says Nickadamus you got to be born again.
-
You got to find new life in me.
-
It's all got to change in me.
-
You're involved in good stuff Nick.
-
Right.
-
You're involved in good things no doubt but you need to experience God by experiencing
-
me.
-
Jesus.
-
You got to be born again.
-
New life in Christ.
-
Great conversation includes new life in Jesus.
-
Now I got to ask you a question.
-
If think about I want you to go back maybe categorically in your mind the conversations
-
that you've had over the last week and I want you to just kind of think about the different
-
people that you've talked with the people you've intersected with the people that you
-
know you maybe came across in life and I want you to think about how many of them conversations
-
had anything to do with new life in Jesus.
-
I want you to think about the words that were spoke were any of the conversations that you
-
got involved in over the last seven days you know since we were here last Sunday did any
-
of those conversations involve anything that had to do with new life in Christ what Jesus
-
was doing right.
-
Come on I know this is challenging.
-
You go back and start thinking was there one conversation I had was there two conversations
-
was there no conversation right.
-
How many conversations did I have about new life with Jesus.
-
Nicodemus is stunned and he's not getting what Jesus is saying.
-
I think what Jesus said rattled him.
-
I don't know I wasn't there I'm just speculating but I think it threw him off his game a bit
-
right because if you read in verse four about this encounter Nicodemus he doesn't come back
-
and start asking questions he gets rattled and now listen he's educated right and highly
-
educated and he says Nicodemus said to him how can a man he's talking to Jesus he's really
-
he's going back to Jesus.
-
Jesus says you need to be born again and Nicodemus said to him how can a man be born again when
-
he's old.
-
Can he enter a second time into his mother's womb and be born.
-
I think Jesus tilted his head and looked at him like are you crazy.
-
Right.
-
You know what I think Jesus may I don't know if Jesus rolled his eyes you know but he rolled
-
his eyes in Nicodemus right there.
-
Do you know who you are.
-
So Jesus answered him in verse five he says this most assuredly I say to you unless one
-
is born of water right that's physical natural birth and the spirit he cannot enter the kingdom
-
of God that which is born of flesh is flesh and that which is born of spirit is spirit
-
do not marvel that I said to you you must be born again the wind blows where it wishes
-
and you hear the sound of it but can you but cannot tell where it comes from or where it
-
goes so is everyone who was born of the spirit.
-
Come on Nick right.
-
Come on they could name us we're talking about spirit things here we're talking about things
-
that you can't see you can't see wind but you can sense wind you can see the results
-
of when you can say hey come on Nick you know what we're talking about here we're not talking
-
about the physical right now we're talking about the spiritual born again you know what
-
it is to be born again in the flesh right or to be born the first time but we're talking
-
about spirit birth here we're talking about you know what it is to come alive in Christ
-
and great conversation means we include spiritual conversation we include spiritual conversation
-
it's easy to get caught and having conversation right if we're going to get into a conversation
-
it's easy to have conversation about the world around us right it's easy to talk about the
-
physical things around us how many know it's easy to talk about the weather that's one
-
of the first things we go to it's a big go-to right especially if you're older like I am
-
I don't know what it is oh god we like to check the weather the older you get and you're
-
a guy I don't know what it is just like I got to check the weather app I got to know
-
why you got to know what's happening out there right it is right we like that it's easy to
-
talk about those things we love the site we like to talk about the news we right now politics
-
right the hot button right now it's politics we like to talk about our schedules we like
-
to talk about last night's game we like to talk about what we ate last night right some
-
of you take pictures and send it to people some of you post it on social media I had
-
corn you know okay great okay you know that we do that right it's easy to talk about the
-
physical things and it's easy to talk about somebody that went off the rails right somebody
-
that you know that went off the rails or something that went off the rails that you were doing
-
how many we really love to talk about people that went off the rails right we're Christian
-
sharing right we're gossiping all right so it's easy it's easy to do those things it's
-
our default it's where we live right we converse we talk about what we hear what we see what
-
we smell what we taste what we feel we talk about those things but something spiritual
-
comes up in the middle of the conversation everybody's like crickets right silence you
-
can hear the proverbial pin drop you know something spiritual comes up why does that
-
happen why does that take place and I don't know is it because we feel like you know spiritual
-
conversations are too complex maybe for casual conversation you know that's that's a complex
-
subject of some kind do we think maybe it's way too personal some people are like well
-
that's a very personal thing we can't talk about that in casual conversation right well
-
let's keep it very physical and emotional in the conversation but let's not go to the
-
spiritual do we feel unequipped some people talk about feeling unequipped unqualified
-
right lacking the right training it's hard to explain and we start to squirm at the thought
-
of diving into something spiritually in a conversation like well you know what yeah
-
but here's the thing honestly that's a little bit funny that it's funny that we tighten
-
up when it comes to spiritual conversation because everyone's sitting in this room listening
-
online whoever's at East Shore this morning right worshiping there every one of us sitting
-
in here we possess something that we possess from our very first breath and it's three
-
things say three things you possess what you've possessed from birth you possess your body
-
say your body you possess your soul say your soul and your spirit right none of you you've
-
had all three before they ever put clothes on you when you were born right you had your
-
body your soul and your spirit and you are as much spirit as you are soul and you are
-
as much spirit as you are body and vice versa we're as much spirit we're as much spiritual
-
beings as we are physical beings or emotional beings we're all three right we have body
-
soul and spirit and how many of you just didn't pick up your spirit on the way to church this
-
morning right you don't just get spiritual on Sundays you didn't stop downtown Carlisle
-
say yeah got to pick up a spirit on the way to church right got my body got my my soul
-
my mind will and emotions but I gotta stop and pick up my spirit this morning that's
-
not how it works you've had all three always 1st Thessalonians 523 says how now may the
-
God of peace himself sanctify you completely and may your whole spirit and soul and body
-
be kept blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ you've always been in possession
-
of all three it's what makes you you so we should be comfortable talking about all three
-
body soul and spirit in the bubble and out of the bubble right I should be comfortable
-
conversing about the physical stuff in my life now I want you to turn right now only
-
do this if you know the person sitting beside you because it would be weird if you don't
-
but turn to the person right beside now and pinch him pinch him on the arm right now give
-
him a good one all right pinch him on the arm tell him oh you are physical okay all
-
right that's their physical body very easy to do right it's easy for us to pick up on
-
the physical side of things right that's physical but we should also be comfortable talking
-
about our soul and your soul is your mind will and your emotions now if you pinch somebody
-
hard enough that was sitting beside you I can guarantee you probably just stirred up
-
their soul a little bit right their emotions got stirred a little bit they're thinking
-
something in their will that they want to do to you a little bit later right they're
-
got their intentions are there right our soul is a primary spot for our mind and our will
-
and our emotions and some of us will conversate all day long about the physical and some of
-
us even get pretty comfortable conversating about our soul well you know especially to
-
those inside the bubble we how many know inside the bubble you don't mind telling somebody
-
what's on your mind you don't mind telling them how you're feeling it that day right
-
you don't even mind telling them your intentions sometimes if they are inside your bubble right
-
some of you can do all three of those at one time you're an expert at conversating in all
-
three of those at one time and you'll spew out your emotions and your intentions right
-
and all of it all in the same on the same breath you might have did it on the way to
-
church this morning there was a lot of kids in the house this morning your children might
-
have been goofing off in the back seat and you just about dislocated your neck right physically
-
to turn around and express your soulish emotions while declaring your will and intentions as
-
soon as you can get free from your seatbelt right it's body mind will and emotions together
-
it's all those together we can typically can converse about the body and the soul pretty
-
naturally but we should as with the spirit as well because it's the spirit that makes
-
up the deepest part of you it's the deepest part of you I want you to think yourself I
-
wanted you to picture yourself in this manner this morning I want you to think of yourself
-
as three circles right three concentric circles so there's this big circle on the outside
-
that's part of you and that's your physical side that's your body so I didn't say your
-
body was big but go with me on this okay big big circle right on the outside and that represents
-
your body but there's an inner ring right if you go in and you make a ring inside of
-
that bigger ring there's the soul part of you and if you go in again and go in a little
-
to the core of who you are you're going to find your spirit man your spirit woman that
-
eternal part of you that got places in every human being and you got a body you got a soul
-
and then you got a spirit in that kind of order and it's the deepest level of connection
-
that you will make with another individual in conversation is in that core part of you
-
it is that spirit side of you that is that deepest part of you and Jesus jumped right
-
to this with Nicodemus he went right to his spirit he bypassed the physical niceties he
-
went right past his emotions or how he was feeling or his opinions along the way right
-
his mind will and emotions and he went right to the core where Nicodemus lived and he said
-
man you got to be born again this thing's got to be new from the inside out because
-
here's the thing when Jesus redeems us what's the first thing he redeems in our life when
-
we believe that he is Lord and we confess with our mouths that we are sinners and we
-
are far from God and sin is separating us from God and we bend distance from him when
-
we recognize that he is the Savior and we come to him and we say Lord I commit to follow
-
you I realize my sin I confess it I repent come into my life when that happens you know
-
what Jesus redeems first in you your spirit you go from death to life in your spirit we
-
always work from the outside in God works from the inside out he renews your spirit
-
you are born again inside because what's in there is dead you are a dead if you didn't
-
if you don't know this man if you don't have Jesus you're a dead man or dead woman walking
-
you're a zombie all right it's true but he renews that spirit side and once he renews
-
the spirit he goes out a little further right and he starts to renew our soul how many know
-
after you get saved he starts to change your emotions a little bit he starts to change
-
your will right these things the mind he starts to change your mind about some things he renews
-
your mind so he works out and then one day one day not now in the next life the word
-
of God tells us that we're going to step into heaven and he's going to give me a brand new
-
body what's corruptible is going to become incorruptible and he's going to change the
-
body he works from the inside out so when he had this conversation with Nick he didn't
-
stick out in the outer circle Jesus didn't just talk nice to him he didn't even get to
-
the next circle in he went right to the spirit and if we're going to have great conversations
-
somehow someway in our conversations we got to get to the heart of it we got to get to
-
right we got to point people to God we got to get them to Jesus and you might think well
-
that sounds like a complicated thing it is not my mind quickly went back as I'm getting
-
ready to close my mind quickly went back I just said ready but my mind quickly went back
-
to a time when I was walking through an airport and I'll never forget this and I've told this
-
story here before but as long as I live I'll never forget I had a conversation that was
-
less than ten seconds with an individual and he ministered to my spirit in ten seconds
-
I was going through and the person how many of you go into an airport there's always people
-
that are assigned to work for the airlines that transport people that might be in wheelchairs
-
or you know have a lot of stuff and they're pushing around there's this guy he's just
-
pushing this person in a wheelchair and they're coming along and I held the door open somewhere
-
I held the door open and I held the door open and as this guy is going by he looked at me
-
he said hey that's just how our Lord does right the Lord just steps up he opens the
-
door for us and in ten seconds time he spoke something about the Lord Jesus into my spirit
-
and he went right by me and I'm like and he looked me square in the eye and said man that's
-
how our Lord does if we allow him to right he opens the door in our life and he walked
-
right by me I'm like boom right it wasn't hey how's it going it wasn't you know how
-
you feeling today right my mind will emotions he went right to the spirit he just tell me
-
about what God does great conversation less than ten seconds great conversation I'm going
-
to ask you to stand support.
