You do an amazing job of encouraging each other, talking with one another, connecting.

We talk about it all the time, but you actually do it.

And I appreciate that so much. It's good to have you here at Life House.

No matter what location you're in, what spot you're in, you know, what town you're in, city or even state.

I don't know if you know this or not, but there's some people listen to the podcast overseas, which is very cool.

So there's part of a Life House family that isn't anywhere near us.

Really across the pond. So it's good to have you this morning.

Well, I want to continue on this morning with the message series that we started last week.

It's called Great Conversation. Great Conversation.

To your neighbor, tell them it's great conversation today. Great Conversation.

I want you to get this in your spirit. And just about everybody I know, I think just about anybody,

I was trying to think through this in my head, but I think just about anybody I know wants to get into a good conversation with somebody.

Right. We want to be in conversations that are meaningful, that when you come out of the end of it, it matters in some kind of way.

Right. That it's a life giving conversation and not a life sucking conversation.

Anybody ever have a life sucking conversation? Anybody have one of those this week? Right.

You know, it's just like drawing a life out of you. You walk away like I'm dead right now.

You know, it's a conversation. And we want to get in that conversation.

Even conversations where somebody speaks that missing link. I don't know if you've ever had one of those,

but you kind of trying to progress in life. And all of a sudden you get in this conversation.

The person says one thing and it's a God thing at the moment.

And it's the missing link that you need. And that conversation begins to launch you forward.

And it's life changing conversation. And really those conversations that are life changing are by the power of Jesus Christ.

It's when Jesus is included in the conversation. So when we walk away from a conversation, we want if you're like me,

I want that amazing moment in time. I want to walk away and say, what just happened?

Do you ever talk to someone like that? What just happened? I got in this conversation and all of a sudden, you know, I walked away encouraged.

I've done hospital visits already where I was supposed to go and encourage them and they encouraged me.

And I'm walking out going, what just happened? Right.

Because the power of God's flowing through them and out of them.

The whole conversation is dipped in the love of Christ.

And really there, you know, there's this Holy Spirit leading through the whole conversation.

And you get left walking away from that conversation wanting more. You just want more of it.

So we should desire to have conversations like this.

We should desire to want to connect with God and really hear these Jesus conversations.

And we should be having these conversations, these God conversations with one another, with people outside this house.

Right. Anywhere we go. And I know this about a conversation.

Anything that involves Jesus, anything that involves his word, anything that involves his character, anything that involves who he is will never fall to the ground void.

It'll never be an empty conversation. And you know, Isaiah 55 11, it says this, show shall my word be that goes forth from my mouth.

It shall not return to me void, but it shall accomplish what I please.

Anytime you're in a conversation and Jesus is in the conversation or something about Jesus' character or who he is or what he's done.

Anytime you're speaking that what you're speaking never falls to the ground.

Boy, how many know you can have a lot of conversations that are just nothing conversations. Amen.

Come on all day long. Get on the Internet. It's a big old pile of nothing most of the time. Right.

It's void, but not when it's Jesus. There's when Jesus in the middle. So God's word never returns void.

We want to bring that into our conversations. And here's what happens when you do that.

Your conversation goes from natural conversation to supernatural conversation. It switches. It flips. It was natural.

Now it goes to supernatural. Sometimes people don't even know it.

But great conversation moves from this natural world to the supernatural and it always leads to life.

And Jesus teaches us through conversations. If we what's what we're doing right now, we're we're going to do it all the month long.

We're going to be looking at Jesus conversations and he teaches us how to ease into say ease.

So you're like, how do I get there? Right. You got to ease into it.

How to ease into these great conversations that are spirit field that they're following that Jesus is threaded all through it.

And he shows us in the work. So if you got your Bible this morning, you're going to be turned into John chapter four.

John chapter four. We're going to start off at verse one this morning. While you're turning, I'm praying. All right.

Father, thank you for this day. Your blessings, your mercy. I thank you for the word God that you placed in our hearts.

And Lord God, the word that is written before us, God, that we might have a guide that we might know who you are.

God, that we might chase hard after you. And Lord God, just right this morning, your word on our hearts that we might walk before you in the greatness of your spirit.

In Jesus name and everybody said together. Amen.

You all there? John chapter four, verse one, it says this. All right. Did somebody say nope or yep? Yep.

I couldn't tell. I could tell it was a yep or nope.

John chapter four, verse one says, Therefore, when the Lord knew that the Pharisees had heard that Jesus made and baptized more disciples than John,

though Jesus himself did not baptize, but his disciples, he left Judea and departed again to Galilee.

He needed to go through Samaria. Now I want you just to get the picture a little bit.

So we're going to flip up a map onto the screens and it's going to help you see just a little bit.

Jesus is on the move. He's traveling. He's leaving one area.

He's going from the area of Judea and he's traveling north to Galilee.

But to get to Galilee, he's got to pass through the area of Samaria.

So he's on his travels and on his travels while he's going, Jesus takes a lunch break.

All right. How many know when you travel, it's necessary to take a lunch break.

Who's with me in the house? Who's with me online this morning? Come on.

It's necessary. Listen. All right.

Correction. It's necessary for me to take a lunch break when I travel. All right.

It's part of the fun. It's part of the travels.

You've got to stop and get some new food somewhere different. Right.

Or even if you're on a turnpike and you've got to stop at one of the rest stops along the way,

you get to walk through the little quick shop and pick out what you want for snacks.

And you've got to go on over, pick out your meal. And you get to.

It's part of the trip. Now I know for some of you, that's not a concept. Right.

Some of you are sitting in the house. It's like I've got to get to my destination at all costs. Right.

And we must not stop. Who's in the house? Come on. Right.

You'll pack munchies. Right. You'll pee in a bottle.

Come on, man. Whatever it takes. You're going to get to where you're going and we will not stop. Right.

The children are in the back dying. You know, we're going to get there.

We'll revive you when we get there. Right. But Jesus.

I want you to pick this out. Jesus stopped for lunch, by the way, y'all. All right. Just say it.

He stops for lunch and he's going to have a great conversation in the area of Samaria.

A supernatural conversation with a woman at the well.

And it brings up a point before we even go any further in scripture.

It really brings up something that you can draw out of scripture.

Great conversations can take place at any location at any time.

Do you know that any place? Judea, Samaria, Galilee, Mancarlyle, Mount Holly,

Boiling Springs, Harrisburg, Glinglesound, Stilton, wherever you live, wherever you come from, you can fill in the blank.

Right. But great conversations don't have to happen in one spot.

They can happen any day, any time, right? Any time, day or night.

Conversations could take place. Great conversations.

It could be at a midnight snack in the middle of the night.

It could be planned. It could be unplanned conversation. Right.

It can be with a complete stranger or somebody that you know very close. Right.

It can it can cross social, economic and physical barriers.

You can have a conversation in places you normally wouldn't.

And they can even occur, you know, in places that you would not expect.

Great conversations can happen for you and I.

And Jesus, full of Jesus conversation just about anywhere you go.

Please don't wait for the perfect setting.

We do that sometimes. Right. We're going to wait for the perfect setting.

Don't wait till you get them in church.

Don't wait until it's youth group or life group or or so, you know, or Jesus conference.

Right. You go to some Jesus conference somewhere.

Don't think that all the conditions have to be perfectly aligned.

Whatever that means. Right. Go.

You can speak. Most evangelism does not happen in here.

Some evangelism happens. Evangelism happens out there.

You're having conversations in random places that you'd never dream of.

I remember I had a friend who came to the Lord and it came through conversations just in everyday life.

We used to travel from spot to spot. The work job I used to have.

I had to go in different locations and he and I would get together.

Sometimes we'd be working to work with one another and we would just go place to place.

And all along the way, we're having conversations. Right.

We're just going all along the way and have a conversation.

We had dozens of conversations just traveling in the truck, getting to the next location to work.

And we talked and we talked. And at some point along the way, I don't even really know when it happened.

I'd like to say we stopped and had that magical prayer that we all talk about.

But something flipped in his heart and he began to follow Jesus.

And I actually moved away and I remember going back years later and these guys chasing God.

He's after it. And he said it all came from those conversations in the truck.

It isn't one location where this takes place. It can happen anywhere.

Someone might say, well, you don't know. You don't understand where I work.

I can have conversations there. Right. Because some of you are under restrictions where you work.

You can't have religious culture. Well, maybe you can't evangelize.

Maybe you can't try to pull somebody in. But how many know they can't stop you from telling your story.

You can tell your story all day long.

There's no place in this least in this country where you can't share your story.

They you might not be able to say, well, I need you to come to my church or I'd love for you to come to my church.

Right. But you can share your story.

You can have great conversations anywhere.

Divine appointments say divine appointments.

So what they are there. Divine appointments. You can have not divine appointments.

The word of God says that the earth is the Lord's and everything therein.

It's all his. All right.

Any location you find any place you go. Right.

You can do it. Well, Jesus takes a lunch break at a well of Jacob.

That's the location he was at.

He sends his disciples away to a nearby city.

A car to pick up some chick fil a. All right. And bring it back.

Unless it was Sunday, then it would be open.

But anyways, I'm just kidding. That's not a scripture.

But it's a divine appointment that takes place.

All right. So verse five says this.

So he came to a city of Samaria, which is called Sikar near the plot of ground that Jacob gave to his sons.

Joseph. Now, Jacob's well was there.

Jesus, therefore, being worried from his journey, sat thus by the well.

It was about the sixth hour, which is new.

And a woman of Samaria came to draw water.

Jesus said to her, Give me a drink.

Say it. Give me a drink. Give me a drink for his disciples had gone away into the city to buy food.

I'm going to draw a super deep theological concept from this passage of scripture.

All right. Something that we observe that Jesus and his interaction with this woman.

You ready for it?

Great conversations when happen, when we start a conversation.

All right. I know this is deep. Right.

You're like, I got up early for this. Right.

Great conversations happen when or with starting a conversation.

You got to start it. You got to hear me in this.

This is why most evangelism never happens. Right.

This is why millions of people go by every single day and they never hear about the life changing story of Jesus Christ.

Because we never start a conversation with them.

We never start. We never get it going in the first place.

Listen, Jesus could have stuck.

He comes to this well, you know, of Jacob and it's in Samaria.

And he could have stuck to the social norms of the day because the social norms of that day would have dictated that a Jew never talks to a Samaritan.

And Samaritan never talks to a Jew.

Add on to that layer that he was a Jewish man talking to a Samaritan woman.

He could have said, you know what, the social norm, you know, it was it would have been completely expected that he wouldn't have said one word.

She came, got her water, right, filled up her water pictures or whatever she was carrying to haul the water back.

And she would have just left.

And Jesus just would have waited for the chick fil a to come back.

Right. He could have just sat there.

But Jesus starts a conversation with her anyway, even though his disciples, they come back and be like,

they come back and be shocked that he was talking to a Samaritan woman, even though it was very unnatural for this woman.

Right. Very naturally, he starts a conversation.

And it's so simple.

She's coming to the well, right.

They're sitting by a well.

That's a natural thing.

And he comes, she comes to the well and you can see him just sitting there and he says, hey, give me water.

Give me a drink.

Give me some water.

He breaks the silence with a simple request, very natural request, probably shocks the woman coming to the well.

Great conversations can start with a simple request.

Right.

A simple question.

Give me a drink.

Give me a drink.

This is brilliant.

This is brilliant.

See, asking a question or something, asking something of someone, it is a brilliant thing to do to start a conversation.

If you ask a question, somebody's got to answer the question.

Right.

They've got to engage.

I mean, unless they're completely rude.

Right.

If they're completely rude, they could turn around and walk away.

But most people, nine out of ten, ninety-nine out of a hundred, won't.

If you ask them a question, what's your name?

Oh, hi, Ryan.

Look, he answered the question.

Right.

If you ask the question, especially if you look at him like this, right.

If you ask them the question, they're going to answer it.

They're going to get engaged.

And they might not like it.

They might not love it.

They might say, well, you know, give me, Jesus could have said, give me a drink of water.

She could have said yes.

She could have said no.

She could have said maybe.

She could have said, who do you think you are?

Right.

She could have said, you know, she could have said any number of things.

But the reality is she's got to say something back.

And dialogue begins.

Something starts.

Right.

Great conversation can start with something super simple.

Sometimes we come into evangelism and we think it's the most complicated thing in the world.

How in the world am I going to talk to this person who doesn't know anything about Jesus?

How am I going to get this conversation going?

Don't walk up and say, can I talk to you about Jesus right now?

Because they're going to probably say no or they're going to run.

Right.

Just start with something simple.

We're going to get to Jesus.

But start with something natural that's going on.

Jesus himself did it.

Right.

He could have, listen, he's the son of God.

He could have started with anything.

He says, you know, get me some water.

Just get me some water.

You could ask a question like what's your name?

Where are you from?

Do you have family in the area?

Right.

How can I help you today?

You could start with a host of different questions because it demands an answer.

It starts a conversation.

We, you know, just ask.

Just start the conversation.

And if you can't think of a question to ask, if you can't, how many of you know sometimes we panic when we're going to go up to talk to somebody.

Right.

A thousand things are going through our head and we're panicking.

Just ask them something about themselves.

Like where did you get those shoes?

Right.

Where are you from?

Kind of question.

I don't know if you realize this or not, but they've done research.

And one of our favorite subjects to talk about is ourselves.

It really is.

Okay.

Sixty percent of all conversation that takes place is about ourselves.

It's reflecting back to ourselves.

And if you go online, that that stat actually jumps to 80 percent.

Right.

Eighty percent of the time people that are online, they're talking about themselves.

Sixty percent of the time if you're in a normal conversation, they're talking about themselves.

They've actually done scientific study on this.

Ended up in Scientific America.

American.

I read a little article about it.

I don't actually subscribe to that magazine.

But it was research from Harvard.

And what they did is they actually they measured this.

The Harvard students.

They they they had participants engage in this and they actually monitored their brains.

They they checked their brain activity and it began to show up that when they monitored them and people started talking to themselves, it brought pleasure to them.

All right.

It was almost they said it was on the lines of of comfort food.

When you eat comfort food, their brains started lighting up just like when you eat pizza.

Right.

Or you have whatever your fried fried chicken, pizza, macaroni, cheese, whatever is your thing.

Right.

Whatever it is, the same thing.

They even said it's kind of like when somebody takes cocaine.

Right.

They said it's the same kind of thing.

There's this pleasure thing that happens.

It's inherently pleasurable to talk about yourself.

So if you want to get a conversation going and you're not sure where to start with somebody, just ask them about themselves.

Say, hey, who are you?

You know, tell me a little bit about yourself.

Right.

And boom, you're off and running.

It's natural.

Ask them about them.

Turn to somebody right now.

Say, tell me about yourself.

Just go to turn.

Tell me about yourself.

All right.

That's all it takes right there.

Right.

And this is a starting point to lead to a new life conversation in Jesus.

And you know, and you want a crazy thought with all this.

You know, the crazy thought is with this.

People could die and go to hell if I don't start a conversation with them.

That's sobering, isn't it?

People could die and go to hell because I don't start a conversation with them.

We never get to Jesus because I never even started.

I want you to try it this week.

I want you to find somebody you don't know.

Maybe somebody you do know that didn't hear this message.

Right.

Find somebody you don't know.

Find somebody you do know.

And I want you to start a conversation with them.

You could be in the grocery store.

You could be at work.

Somebody you normally don't talk to.

Just go up and ask them about them and see where it starts to go.

How many of you got to take the first step before you can ever take a second step?

This is the first step.

I'm giving you something super practical here because Jesus did it.

Right.

Simply ask to get the conversation rolling.

Jesus requests water and this Samaritan woman responds.

Verse 9 says this.

Then the woman of Samaria said to him, how is it that you being a Jew ask a drink of me, a Samaritan woman?

She's confused.

Right.

What's happening?

Right.

For Jews have no dealing with Samaritans.

You talking to me, Jesus?

You know, the conversation's launched.

It's on its way.

Jesus answered and said to her, if you knew the gift of God and who it is, who says to you, give me a drink, you would have asked him and he would have given you water.

The next phrase right that Jesus engages in is amazing.

It's just brilliant.

And it really leads to the next thing.

Great conversation moves from the natural to the supernatural in a couple of phrases.

Jesus starts off with something very natural.

Water, right?

Give me a drink.

She responds in kind talking about how Samaritan Jews don't talk.

And in the very next breath, Jesus moves the whole conversation to the supernatural.

He takes it to a different place.

He catches her attention.

I think Jesus knew if he doesn't get this conversation going, if he doesn't move it along, she's going to get some water and leave.

She's just headed out of there.

Right.

She's already thinking Jesus, I'm going to use the term my grandson uses, she's already thinking Jesus is sus.

All right.

I learned that from my eight-year-old grandson.

I had no idea what that thing meant.

It means suspect or suspicious.

Right.

He's like, Poppy, you're sus.

You know.

But she's already thinking that in this situation.

And she's and Jesus engages and he goes and look, he moves from the natural with water and he moves right to the supernatural.

He goes right to if you knew the gift of God, all of a sudden it goes from the water and she's like, what gift of God?

Right.

And who would says to you, give me a drink?

You would have asked him and he would have given you living water.

What in the world is living water?

Who is this that's talking to me?

He starts talking about stuff that's beyond the natural.

He starts moving into the supernatural.

He starts talking about living water.

See how it relates.

Right.

He's just grabbing a hold of what was natural and he's sliding it right over into the supernatural.

In one phrase, Jesus shifts the entire conversation in one phrase.

He moves it from this world that we live in that everybody talks about all the time in natural and all of a sudden he begins to move her over to where God exists.

Right.

She's all of a sudden in a different realm.

She's all of a sudden hearing something that she's never heard before.

And we all want to understand the supernatural.

I don't know if you realize that or not.

There's a God sized hole in each side of every one of us.

Every human being on the face you can count on this and every person on the face of the earth.

There's this God sized hole in you if you don't know God.

If you don't know Jesus as Lord and Savior.

And there's this thing inside of us that longs for the supernatural.

We long for the power of God in our lives.

We long to know someone that's bigger than we are.

Right.

The creator of all things.

It's there.

Even if you don't recognize it, it's there.

This is why people watch documentaries on aliens.

Right.

They're fascinated with the extraterrestrial.

All those shows right where somebody's walking around in a dark thing with a flashlight.

Look, there's an orb of light.

You know, they're walking around.

They play your music.

They're fascinated with it.

They spend.

We spend millions of dollars going to movies about superheroes who have superpowers.

People carry around gems and crystals and they call on these crystals or they rub them.

So they're hoping they get some superpower.

Then the innermost part of us, this spirit.

Right.

The eternal part of us.

There's something looking for what's beyond the natural and great conversation moves from

the natural to the supernatural.

It slides over there.

Right.

You we can't have a car.

We got to we got to move the conversation from natural to supernatural.

We got to begin to talk about new life, new birth, birth, born again.

Right.

Living water.

People don't know what that is, man.

It's living water that springs up out of you.

Right.

Peace that passes all understanding.

People want to know about that.

People are full of anxiety these days.

Talk about the peace that passes all understanding.

God Himself, the Holy Spirit living within us, God living within us.

Right.

God had given us the power to change from the inside out.

You can start talking about all these supernatural things.

You can shift it from natural to supernatural because you live in a world that people don't

believe that anybody can change.

Ever hear that that saying somebody says that their tiger never changes its stripes.

That's what that means.

People say things like that.

Oh, people never change.

Oh, yes, they do.

And Jesus, I've watched it.

There's this amazing change that takes place.

Right.

There's a world that says that you can't have new life unless you find yourself.

But Jesus says if you die to yourself, right, you're going to find new life in him.

It's a supernatural thing.

The world doesn't believe in a past.

A piece of past is all understanding.

They believe in enlightenment.

They believe that if you get enough knowledge, enough education, if you get enough self-awareness,

that all of a sudden you're going to have the piece of past is all understanding.

Except it doesn't work because the piece comes from somebody that's beyond us.

Right.

There's a source for our peace.

We got to move from the natural to the supernatural.

We got to shift what we're saying and how we're saying it.

Everybody hear what I'm saying this morning.

Amen.

It's true.

There is living water.

There's supernatural water in Jesus Christ and the conversation's got to move.

What if we piqued somebody's curiosity?

That's what Jesus did to this woman.

She's getting water and he's like, how would you like some living water?

How would you like some water where you will never ever get thirsty again?

Huh?

Listen, she carried her water.

She wasn't like us, right.

We can go over to the faucet.

They carried their water for miles.

This looks pretty appealing to her.

Right.

John chapter four eleven says the woman said to him, sir, you have nothing to draw with in the well is deep.

Jesus asked for water.

Where then do you think you get that?

Where then do you get that living water?

Are you greater than our father Jacob who gave us the well and drank from it himself as well as his sons and his livestock?

Jesus answered and said to her, whoever drinks of this water will thirst again.

But whoever drinks of the water that I shall give them will never thirst.

But the water that I shall give him will become in him a fountain of water springing up into everlasting life.

And the woman said to him, sir, give me this water that I might not thirst nor come here to draw.

She doesn't understand at all.

Right.

She doesn't have her head completely wrapped at all.

But she wants it.

She wants this supernatural water that Jesus is offering.

And sixteen says, Jesus said to her, go call your husband and come here.

And the woman answered and said, I have no husband.

And Jesus said to her, you have well said you have I have no husband for you to have had five husbands.

And the one in whom you now have is not your husband in that you spoke truly.

Last point of the conversation today.

Great conversation.

Let Jesus use you supernaturally in the great conversation.

Jesus supernaturally knows that this woman not only just has a heart, does not have a husband at the moment,

but she's had five husbands and she's currently living with a man.

She's currently outside of the bonds of marriage.

She's currently living in sin.

And how does he know this?

Listen, there was no Facebook back then.

Right.

There was no Instagram.

There was no he wasn't checking up on social media before.

He didn't get his cell phone out.

Right.

And check it on social media.

It doesn't even say her name in the word of God.

Right.

There was no Facebook.

There was none of that.

Jesus is equipped with what every believer is equipped with now because he left and came and sent the Holy Spirit.

The Holy Spirit speaks to Jesus and he knows in his heart that she's had five.

He knows exactly where her passage.

He knows exactly where she is in the present.

And Jesus wants that for us.

He wants us.

That's that's why the word of God says that we get baptized in the spirit.

We get immersed in the spirit of God so that God can get.

Well, listen, when we get in a conversation so he can make it supernatural for us, he can move in you.

Jesus displayed what the word of God talks about in Corinthians.

It's a word of knowledge.

He had knowledge of a situation that was way beyond anything that would be natural.

There's no way he could have known this woman's past.

But supernaturally, God, the Holy Spirit speaks to Jesus and tells him and he has knowledge of the situation by unnatural means.

Right.

Supernatural.

He knows her past.

He knows her presence.

Let Jesus use you supernaturally in conversation.

Let me read out of the Book of Acts, verse one says, and being assembled together with them, he commanded them not to depart from Jerusalem, but to wait for the promise of the father, which he said, You have heard from me.

For John truly baptized with water, but you shall be baptized with the Holy Spirit.

Not many days from now.

Therefore, when they had come together, they asked him, saying, Lord, will you at this time restore the kingdom of Israel?

And he said to them, It's not for you to know the times or the seasons which the father's put in his own authority, but you shall receive what power?

Right.

When the Holy Spirit has come upon you and you shall be witness to me, you will witness to me of me in Jerusalem and all Judea and Samaria and to the end of the earth.

Jesus gave us the Holy Spirit supernatural power as provision for the great conversations that we have the Jesus conversations that we have.

So we carry the supernatural into the great conversation.

He'll tell us he'll tell you what you need to know when you need to know it in a conversation.

If you're leaning on I hear Christians say this all the time.

They'll tell me, man, pastor, I got into this conversation with someone and they didn't know Jesus and I don't even know how it all started.

We started talking for a few minutes and I don't even know what happened.

All of a sudden I just had this wisdom.

All of a sudden I just had these words to speak out.

Right.

And they're like, I spoke for an hour.

We just talked back and forth.

They're talking about Jesus.

Do you know what that was?

That was a Holy Spirit.

It wasn't you.

He's speaking in you and through you.

And he's giving you the words you need in the moment.

I hear it all the time.

I love it when I hear those stories.

You come up to me and you say, I don't know.

It wasn't me.

They'll say, I wouldn't me.

I don't know.

It wasn't you.

It was the Holy Spirit working through you and in you.

This is how we move from natural conversations to supernatural conversation.

Right.

The woman's life is forever changed.

She realizes that Jesus is the Messiah.

She realizes this went from a natural conversation to a supernatural conversation.

And in verse 28, it says she runs back to her city.

She leaves the waterpots there.

She forgot what she was doing.

Right.

She runs back to the city and she starts to tell people, you need to come meet a man who told me everything about me.

Everything he knows about me.

Right.
