  1. Thank you for listening to this message from

  2. Lifehouse Church. It's true, it's true. Now listen,

  3. welcome, welcome. It's good to have you here.

  4. If you're with us in the house, if you're listening

  5. online, it's good to have you this morning. And

  6. this is week two of a message series called Holy

  7. Buckets. All right, Holy Buckets. And here's

  8. what I know to be true of each one of us. God

  9. has given us buckets full of stuff to manage.

  10. He really has. He's given us buckets full of

  11. stuff to manage. And in your buckets are a lot

  12. of different things, right? You might have relationships

  13. in your buckets. You've got family. You've got

  14. friends. You've got people you're connected with.

  15. You've got relationships in that bucket. You've

  16. got a bucket of responsibilities. Raise your

  17. hand if you've got responsibilities, all right?

  18. Yeah, all of you, right? You've got responsibilities

  19. that are in a bucket. You've got to show up to

  20. work or school or whatever it is that you're

  21. doing in life. You've got your body in a bucket.

  22. How many of you feel like your body's in a bucket

  23. sometimes, right? It's your mind, your will,

  24. and your emotions that are in a bucket. You've

  25. got to manage that. And there's something else

  26. in your bucket that's called money and possessions.

  27. You've got a bucket that has money and possessions

  28. in it, and God calls all of us to manage those

  29. buckets that he gives to us. Some of our buckets

  30. are fuller than others, right? Of different seasons.

  31. How many know you get in a different season in

  32. life, your money and possession bucket might

  33. be a lot smaller than when you get older in life.

  34. I know when we first got married, we lived in

  35. an apartment. That was about four rooms. And

  36. you could stand in the middle and touch all four

  37. rooms. And we didn't have enough to fill that

  38. up, right? We just didn't. But the longer you're

  39. married and life has gone on, our buckets have

  40. gotten fuller with things and with stuff. And

  41. God cares. deeply cares about how we manage the

  42. buckets. In particular, we're focusing on money

  43. and possessions. He cares about your responsibilities.

  44. He cares about your relationships. He cares about

  45. how you handle your body, your mind, your soul,

  46. right? Your will, your emotions, all of that.

  47. But we're going to focus on money and possessions.

  48. And you don't have to look very far in scripture

  49. to find out that God has a lot to say when it

  50. comes to money and possessions. Now, I don't

  51. know, I didn't actually go back and count, but

  52. how many know everything on the internet is true,

  53. right? Come on. I looked it up on the internet.

  54. I'm not gonna lie. All right, I looked it up.

  55. And the word, you know, in the internet, they

  56. say in the word of God that there's 2 ,350, at

  57. least 2 ,350 scriptures that talk about money

  58. and possessions. 16 of Jesus' 38 parables have

  59. something to say about money and possessions.

  60. So we cannot talk Jesus and not talk about money

  61. and possessions and what he's put into our buckets.

  62. We can't do it, right? We manage, we steward,

  63. another word for managing, right? We manage,

  64. we steward what Jesus has put in our buckets.

  65. And we're either gonna do that in a holy manner

  66. or we're gonna do it in an unholy manner. We're

  67. gonna do it in a godly way or an ungodly way.

  68. It's gonna be handled in a righteous manner or

  69. an unrighteous manner. I have buckets and it's

  70. gonna be holy buckets that I'm carrying around

  71. or it's gonna be unholy buckets. It's true, right?

  72. Turn to someone and tell them, we're going to

  73. talk holy buckets today. Say it with attitude.

  74. We're going to talk holy buckets today. All right?

  75. We're going to do it. I'm going to pray before

  76. we go into God's word. Father, thank you for

  77. this day. Thank you for this time together. I

  78. thank you, Lord, for your word, God, that is

  79. quick and it is powerful. It is sharper than

  80. a two -edged sword. I pray, God, that you speak

  81. into our spirit. Show us what you have for us

  82. to learn today. And, Lord, help us to apply it,

  83. God, that we might bring increase into the kingdom.

  84. And we just give you glory in Jesus' name, we

  85. pray. Everybody say it together. Amen, amen.

  86. Well, Pastor Adam was here last week and reminded

  87. us of this about our buckets, right? It matters

  88. how we manage our buckets and we will give an

  89. account of how we steward these buckets. Our

  90. money and possessions, we're gonna give an account.

  91. Hebrews 9, 27 says this, and as it is appointed

  92. for men to die once. but after this, the judgment.

  93. He briefly mentioned this. As it is appointed

  94. for men to die once, but after this, the judgment.

  95. So Christ was offered once to bear the sins of

  96. many. To those who eagerly await him, he will

  97. appear a second time apart from sin for salvation.

  98. There's gonna be a judgment. There's gonna be

  99. a review of either our holy or our unholy buckets.

  100. It's gonna be a bucket examination, okay? There's

  101. going to be a review that Jesus is going to do

  102. with each of those who follow him. And this particular

  103. review, this judgment it's called in Scripture,

  104. is not a condemnation or a type of judgment.

  105. It's not a heaven or hell issue. This is actually

  106. a review that God's going to do, a judgment that's

  107. going to take place where he's going to take

  108. a look at the works and the things that we've

  109. done, and he's going to say, hey, I'm going to

  110. determine your reward based on your judgment.

  111. buckets. How'd you manage your buckets? Right?

  112. Jesus saves us. That's a free gift. We've heard

  113. that this morning. Heaven's our home. We're saved

  114. by grace. God, in his infinite wisdom through

  115. his son, Jesus Christ, gives us the opportunity

  116. for salvation. It's a free gift. But what we

  117. do and what we manage is going to determine the

  118. reward in the next life. It's true. 1 Corinthians

  119. 3, 9 says this, Now, pay attention close here.

  120. Now, if anyone builds on this foundation, With

  121. gold, silver, precious stones. Now let me stop

  122. there for a second. You're going to build something

  123. on the foundation that God's given you. He saved

  124. you. He's given you grace if you follow Jesus.

  125. And now you have a foundation which you're going

  126. to build on. And it's going to be right, either

  127. gold, silver, precious stones, or it's going

  128. to be wood, hay, and straw. Each one's work will

  129. become clear for the day. Say the day. There's

  130. a day. There's a day of judgment. We'll declare

  131. it. because it will be revealed by fire, and

  132. fire will test each one's work of what sort it

  133. is. If anyone's work which he has built on it

  134. endures, he will receive a reward. It's all through

  135. scripture, reward, right? If anyone's work is

  136. burned, he will suffer loss, but he himself will

  137. be saved, yet so as through fire. Hmm. The believer's

  138. judgment. God's eternal review, I call it a bucket

  139. review, right? It's not a heaven or hell type

  140. of judgment. It's a determination of reward based

  141. on how I managed what God put in my buckets.

  142. And if I do not manage my buckets in God's way,

  143. it's going to be hay, water, stubble. He's going

  144. to test it by fire. And if I haven't managed

  145. well, it's just going to kind of disappear. There's

  146. not going to be any reward for it. Or if I've

  147. done it his way and I've done it according to

  148. what he says, it's going to be stone. It's going

  149. to be precious metal. And how many know if you

  150. put the fire in a precious metal, it gets even

  151. more pure, right? It remains. It's a pure thing.

  152. Did I manage what God gave me righteously or

  153. unrighteously? Did I take the money and possessions

  154. that he's given me and have I handled it in his

  155. manner? Because our eternal reward is based on

  156. how I manage the stuff he puts in my buckets.

  157. I didn't say your salvation. I said reward. Amen?

  158. Some of you are like, got deer in the headlight,

  159. looks like you've never heard this before. I

  160. can assure you it is all through scripture. It's

  161. all through the New Testament. right? A lot of

  162. Jesus followers don't believe this when I first

  163. talk about this or I first preach about this,

  164. right? They understand salvation. They understand

  165. the kingdom of God, and they understand that

  166. heavens are home because of the free gift of

  167. God, salvation through Jesus Christ. But they

  168. don't believe, and honestly, here's what they

  169. believe. They believe that when we get into heaven

  170. and we walk through heaven's doors, that all

  171. of a sudden the reward's going to just be the

  172. same for everybody, right? Because that's how

  173. God does, except it's not in Scripture. Scripture

  174. talks about a reward. It talks about those who

  175. serve him. God's going to try those works. He's

  176. going to find out what's in your bucket. He's

  177. going to test it by fire. And if it is pure,

  178. if there were righteous motives behind it, it's

  179. going to remain and he's going to reward. It's

  180. a reward thing. Turn to your neighbor right now.

  181. Just declare and say, there's a reward involved.

  182. Just tell them. It's a reward. It's a bucket

  183. thing. It's a bucket thing. It's true. Revelation

  184. 22, 12 says this. Look, and this is Jesus' thought.

  185. Look, I'm coming soon, bringing my reward with

  186. me to repay all people according to their deeds.

  187. I am the alpha, the omega, the first and the

  188. last, the beginning and the end. Right? Our heavenly

  189. reward is based on our deeds. How we handle our

  190. money and possessions is one of those. And he

  191. speaks this, Jesus talks this all through the

  192. New Testament. I'm gonna take you to a parable

  193. in Matthew chapter 25 this morning. You can start

    Matthew 25 chapter mention

  194. turning there. We're gonna pick up at verse 14.

  195. But this is one of those parables that Jesus

  196. talks about money and possessions. He explains

  197. what it works like in the kingdom of God. Matter

  198. of fact, he even starts the parable off in that

  199. manner, all right? It says this, Matthew 25,

  200. 14, y 'all there? Say amen. All right, you're

  201. all there. You're all looking up at the screens,

  202. aren't you? Yeah, you're not there. You're just

  203. looking at the screens, all right? Matthew 25,

  204. 14 says this. And it says, again, the kingdom

  205. of heaven can be illustrated by a story of a

  206. man going on a long trip. He called together

  207. his servants and entrusted his money to them

  208. while he was gone. Now, let me stop right here

  209. just for a moment and preach. Jesus starts with,

  210. again, the kingdom of heaven can be illustrated.

  211. He's saying, this is a picture of how it works

  212. in the kingdom of God. This is a snapshot of

  213. what it looks like in the kingdom, right? This

  214. is how it rolls in my kingdom. This is what it

  215. looks like where I rule and reign. He's saying,

  216. don't be confused. Don't misunderstand. Don't

  217. get off in some tangent. This is what it's like.

  218. This is the plan, right? And Jesus says, he states

  219. this, he says, there's a man going on a long

  220. trip and he calls together his servants and entrusts

  221. his money, his money to them. How many know there's

  222. always a parallel in the parable, right? There's

  223. always a parallel and there's always a parallel

  224. in Jesus' parable. There's always something to

  225. learn. And the man who's going on a long trip

  226. in this, in this particular portion of scripture

  227. is Jesus. He's talking to his disciples. He's

  228. talking about himself. He's telling them, listen,

  229. I'm about to leave. I'm not long and I'm going

  230. to be gone. I'm going to be the right hand of

  231. the father and I'm going to be gone for a long

  232. period of time. Now I'm coming back, but I'm

  233. going to be gone for a while. I'm going to the

  234. father. And he says, before I go, I'm going to

  235. call my servants together and I'm going to entrust

  236. them with my money, his money. That's what the

  237. word of God says. to them while he's gone. The

  238. money and the possessions in our buckets are

  239. not ours. They're his. What's in your hand is

  240. not yours. It's his. Every dollar in my bucket

  241. personally is not mine. It's his. I know I'm

  242. the one. You're the one that went to work. You

  243. know, you clocked in. You did your 40 hours.

  244. You did your 50 hours. You did your 60 hours.

  245. And they gave you a paycheck at the end of the

  246. week or end of the month, whenever it was. But

  247. he's the one who gave you breath to get up in

  248. the morning. Amen? He's the one who gave you

  249. energy in your legs to get you wherever you're

  250. going or your arms, your brain, whatever you're

  251. using it, wherever you work, right? He gave you

  252. the intellect and the fortitude and the ability

  253. to go and do whatever task he laid before you.

  254. And he's the one who provides it all. You don't

  255. take your next breath without his permission.

  256. I don't know if you know that or not. but you

  257. really don't. And I can't live and move and breathe

  258. without him. And everything is his. I was reminded

  259. this week, early this week, I got a little bit

  260. sick. I was reminded how quick a germ can put

  261. me down, right? Lay me flat on the couch. I'm

  262. not going anywhere. I'm not doing nothing, right?

  263. I'm just gonna lay here and die in peace. Come

  264. on. A little dramatic when I get sick, all right?

  265. You get reminded of how fragile you really are.

  266. You know, how quick it can all change. And sometimes

  267. that money and possessions in that bucket, we

  268. think it's ours. And God says, uh -uh, it's mine.

  269. The earth is the Lord's and everything therein,

  270. right? And this is absolutely critical to understand.

  271. For us to believe and understand how God manages

  272. and wants us to manage our buckets, we cannot

  273. even begin until we understand, and actually

  274. not just understand, because how many know understanding

  275. is just intellect, right? We gotta believe it.

  276. Believe means this is how I live, this is how

  277. I function, this is what I function out of, that

  278. it is all his. I will never manage God's, the

  279. bucket, what he's put in my buckets, I will never

  280. manage it properly till I realize, understand,

  281. and more importantly, believe that I am not the

  282. owner of what is in my buckets. He is. He is,

  283. right? Because if I see myself as the owner of

  284. the buckle, I will handle things in a whole different

  285. manner than Jesus prescribes. I really will.

  286. Because our natural inclination is to hold on

  287. to what is mine, right? I hang on to what is

  288. mine. How many know somebody comes and tries

  289. to grab your wallet or your purse? Would you

  290. clutch onto that thing? That is mine, right?

  291. Some of you sweet, meek people try to grab your

  292. wallet, you'll beat them into the ground. Call

  293. the police and cuff them yourself. Come on, right?

  294. Justice must be served. You will hang on to whatever

  295. is yours and you will give away generously what's

  296. not yours. If it's yours, you'll grab ahold.

  297. If you own that thing, you're hanging on to it.

  298. You're defending it, right? To the death. When

  299. my children were young, they're all adults now.

  300. They got their own children, except for one of

  301. them. When they were young, they loved to give

  302. my stuff away. I don't know why, but they loved

  303. to give my stuff away. One day, my middle daughter,

  304. I caught her out in the yard. She's giving my

  305. tools to the neighbor. And she's like, you can

  306. have them. She's like, go ahead, take them, whatever

  307. you need. Just give them away. She just gave

  308. them away. She said, right? They used to invite

  309. their friends over. They're teenage friends.

  310. Those kids would come over. They would give my

  311. food away with great liberality. They would clean

  312. out the cupboards. Just give it up. They give

  313. doggy bags. Here, you want to take some home

  314. with you? How many know you give away what's

  315. not yours? You do a little bit. I'll give your

  316. stuff away, right? You'll give my stuff away.

  317. You won't even blink. You'll be like, sure, take

  318. as much as you want, right? But we hang on to

  319. what we think we own. We'll clutch onto it. We'll

  320. put the death grip on it. And we hold tight.

  321. So we'll clamp down. We'll lock up, right? We'll

  322. make sure it's secure and it's tucked away just

  323. for me. So when I believe that everything in

  324. my bucket, believe is the key word. When I believe

  325. that everything in my bucket is his, I will be

  326. cool with Jesus telling me, what to do with what's

  327. in the bucket. Whether he tells me to keep it

  328. in the bucket or he tells me to hand it off to

  329. somebody else. I'll be cool with his instructions

  330. to give now or give later or tell me how much

  331. to give. I will be cool with Christ doing that

  332. in my life if I realize it's not mine in the

  333. first place. It's his. It's his. Everything in

  334. the bucket belongs to the man who's on a long

  335. journey. who's not here, who didn't return yet.

  336. And that's the only position you can take if

  337. you're going to manage money and possessions

  338. God's way. Anything outside of that, you're going

  339. to default to, it's mine. And it's going to get

  340. corrupt in how you handle it. Amen? It's true.

  341. Now let me read the whole rest of the parable.

  342. I'm going to start back at the beginning. Again,

  343. the kingdom of heaven can be illustrated by a

  344. man, the story of a man going on a long trip.

  345. He called together his servants and entrusted

  346. his money to them. And while he was gone, he

  347. gave five bags of silver to one, two bags of

  348. silver to another, and one bag of silver to the

  349. last, dividing it in proportion to their abilities.

  350. I can stop and preach there a while. I'm not

  351. going to. And then he left on his trip. The servant

  352. who received the five bags of silver began to

  353. invest the money and earn five more. The servant

  354. with two bags of silver also went to work and

  355. earned two more. But the servant who received

  356. one bag of silver dug a hole in the ground and

  357. hid his master's money. After a long time, say

  358. a long time. After a long time, their master

  359. returned from his trip and called them to give

  360. an account. of how they used his money. This

  361. is the judgment he's talking about. The servant

  362. to him who he had entrusted the five bags of

  363. silver came forward with five more and said,

  364. master, you gave me five bags of silver to invest

  365. and I've earned five more. The master was full

  366. of praise. Well done, my good and faithful servant.

  367. You've been faithful in hailing a small amount.

  368. So now I'm gonna give you more responsibilities.

  369. Let's celebrate together. The servant who had

  370. received the two bags of silver came forward

  371. and said, Master, you gave me two bags of silver

  372. to invest, and I've earned two more. The master

  373. said, Well done, my good and faithful servant.

  374. You've been faithful in handling this small amount,

  375. so now I give you more responsibility. Let's

  376. go celebrate together. Then the servant with

  377. the one bag of silver came and said, Master,

  378. I knew you were a harsh man, harvesting crops

  379. you didn't plant and gather crops you didn't

  380. cultivate. I was afraid I would lose your money,

  381. so I hid it in the earth. Look, here's your money

  382. back. But the master replied, listen to his reply,

  383. you wicked, lazy servant. If you knew I harvested

  384. crops, I didn't plant and gather crops, I didn't

  385. cultivate, why didn't you deposit my money in

  386. the bank? At least it would have gotten some

  387. interest on it. Then he ordered, take the money

  388. from this servant and give it to the one that

  389. has the 10 bags of silver. To those who use well

  390. what they are given, even more will be given

  391. and they will have an abundance. But from those

  392. who do nothing, even what little they have will

  393. be taken away. Now throw the useless servant

  394. into outer darkness where there will be weeping

  395. and gnashing of teeth. This is how it works in

  396. the kingdom of God. This is how it works with

  397. the man who's on a long journey. God put his

  398. money. and his possession into our buckets. And

  399. he expects me to use those funds in a way that

  400. are going to bring profit into the kingdom of

  401. God, into his work. Not investing in the kingdom

  402. of God is not optional for a follower of Jesus

  403. Christ. It's not optional. It's not optional

  404. in God's word. It didn't work. How many know

  405. it did not work out well for the one that went

  406. and hid the money? All right, I'm not gonna go

  407. into all that. You can see it in scripture, right?

  408. Unless you're really into being thrown out into

  409. outer darkness, weeping, gnashing of teeth. It

  410. did not work out well for him, all right? If

  411. I'm managing the buckets that God's given me

  412. in the kingdom and including the money and possessions

  413. that God gives me, then God expects me to use

  414. it for kingdom profit, for increase in the kingdom.

  415. He expects me to invest it so the kingdom increase

  416. takes place. Now I gotta stop here and just explain

  417. a little bit what profit is in the kingdom of

  418. God. Because if you don't know, you're going

  419. to think worldly like terms of money, right?

  420. When we say profited in business, that's like,

  421. oh, yeah, well, we made a billion dollars this

  422. year. I don't know, right? Or they made a million

  423. dollars this year, or they made $3 this year,

  424. whatever that is. The profit above all their

  425. expenses is the profit. But profit in the kingdom

  426. of God, you've got to understand something in

  427. the kingdom of God. God has it all. He owns the

  428. world and everything that's in it, right? If

  429. you can look in Revelation, you can take a look

  430. at heaven, right? Streets of gold. The city's

  431. built. Heaven's going to be built with pearl.

  432. God's not too worried about money. Profiting

  433. in the kingdom of God is people. People. That's

  434. what profiting in the kingdom of God. People

  435. coming into the kingdom of God. We use unrighteous

  436. mammon, which is money, so that we get profit

  437. in the kingdom of God. So we minister to people

  438. and they come into the kingdom of God. I want

  439. you to turn to a person right beside you right

  440. now. Look at them. Don't say anything. Just stare

  441. at them very awkwardly. Okay? Just stare at them

  442. for a minute. Go ahead. Make it completely awkward,

  443. all right? You're looking at profit in the kingdom

  444. of God. People are profit in the kingdom of God.

  445. God just uses money and possessions to bring

  446. people into the kingdom. Jesus gave us money

  447. and possessions, and he gives us a plan in his

  448. word to do that. He does. It's in his word. Worship

  449. team, if you'd come. Can I tell you for a fact,

  450. Jesus has a money management plan. for his servants.

  451. He has a money management plan for his servants.

  452. Here's the beautiful thing with his plan. God's

  453. plan for money will sustain me and it will grow

  454. the kingdom of God at the same time. You notice

  455. something in Jesus' parable that he told, right?

  456. Because it's a parallel of what's happening on

  457. and takes place in the kingdom of God. You notice

  458. some things in the parable. Sometimes you got

  459. to read between the lines. You got to really

  460. see the story in scripture to fully understand

  461. what it is, right? And if you look, let me tell

  462. you what you do not see happen to the servants

  463. here. In the parable, you don't see any of the

  464. servants. who come back right after the master's

  465. been gone for a long time none of them come back

  466. and say master where have you been we're starving

  467. to death you've been gone so long we've had no

  468. food no provision You don't see anybody come

  469. back, right, and say, we've been homeless. Nobody's

  470. coming in before the master and the Lord and

  471. saying, we're naked, right? We're homeless. None

  472. of them are in dire need. As a matter of fact,

  473. those who went and invested, they're healthy

  474. and whole. And God's saying, you know, the master's

  475. saying, let's celebrate. You've brought increase

  476. into the kingdom. You're doing well. The kingdom's

  477. doing well. They're following the master's plan

  478. because God's plan for money, the money and possessions

  479. he puts in the buckets that you have is to sustain

  480. you, right? To bring blessing into your life,

  481. to sustain your family. The word of God says

  482. that those who don't take care of the family

  483. is worse than an infidel. He gives us substance

  484. to take care of our families. And then he says,

  485. you use the rest to invest into the kingdom to

  486. bring people into the kingdom of God. He's got

  487. a plan. In the parable, the servants who were,

  488. actually all three of the servants were sustained

  489. the whole way through. God's got a plan. Jesus

  490. has a money management plan. Invest in the kingdom.

  491. You got to think kingdom when you're talking

  492. about money. You can't think like the world,

  493. right? Matthew 6 .31 says this, Therefore do

  494. not worry, saying, and Jesus spoke this, What

  495. shall we eat, or what shall we drink, or what

  496. shall we wear? For after these things the Gentiles

  497. seek. For your heavenly Father knows you need

  498. these things, right? But seek first the kingdom

  499. of God and his righteousness, and all these things

  500. shall be added to you. Therefore do not worry

  501. about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about

  502. its own things. Sufficient for the day is its

  503. own trouble. Everything in the bucket's his.

  504. Just manage it in a righteous manner, in a godly

  505. manner, in a holy manner, in a kingdom manner.

  506. God will supply everything you need for your

  507. family and for you. And simultaneously, if you

  508. work God's plan, he will fund the kingdom of

  509. God and the kingdom of God will grow. That's

  510. how he works. That's how he does it. That's how

  511. he rolls. Last week, Pastor Adam talked about

  512. tithing. He preached about tithing and giving.

  513. And here's what I know. And I've done this. Anytime

  514. I've done a financial series, and I'm gonna do

  515. it this morning again, right? And you're saying,

  516. well, Pastor, it's Labor Day weekend. You're

  517. doing it because there's not a lot of people

  518. in the house. No, you can tell your friends too.

  519. Tell those who've done it. I tell people, I've

  520. done this every time I've done a financial series.

  521. I tell people, you just try God's word out. Because

  522. in Malachi, God says, if you try me in this,

  523. if you follow what I speak about the tithing

  524. and the offering, if you do this, if you walk

  525. in obedience with this, you watch and see if

  526. I don't open the windows of heaven and pour on

  527. you blessings that you cannot contain. So I've

  528. told churches over the years, I've been preaching

  529. over 20 years now, anytime I've done a message,

  530. I tell them, you just follow God's prescription

  531. for money. and possession. You just follow his

  532. plan. You walk in obedience to what he says about

  533. tithing and giving. And if he doesn't hold up

  534. his end of the bargain, if you do that here at

  535. LifeHouse, and six months from now, God doesn't

  536. come through with what he says he'll do, I'll

  537. write you a check right back. Amen? Go, right?

  538. But it's true. I can say that because God's never

  539. failed. I could take you to story after story

  540. after story where people began to walk in God's

  541. plan for giving. And there's much, much more

  542. to it. It's way more than just tithing and offering.

  543. I know that's all you ever hear in church, right?

  544. There's way more to it. But here's what I don't

  545. understand. What will block you from following

  546. God and his money management plan boils down

  547. to just a couple things. And I'm closing with

  548. this. If you believe you're the owner of the

  549. possessions, you will not follow God's money

  550. management plan. plant, if you don't believe

  551. that he's the owner. And if you're discounting

  552. scripture this morning and you're like, well,

  553. that's what the Bible says, well, let me give

  554. you a little just something you can look at in

  555. real life, something physical. How many of you

  556. have ever seen a hearse going down the road hauling

  557. a corpse with a U -Haul hooked behind it? Anybody

  558. ever see that? You know why? You can't take it

  559. with you. You came in with nothing, you're going

  560. out with nothing, right? It's his. It's his.

  561. You're letting it here. You'll go out with your

  562. soul. That's all. Right? So that'll keep you.

  563. Two. One. Second is ignorance. Ignorance. If

  564. you don't understand God's plan for money, and

  565. it's in depth. If you don't understand God's

  566. plan for finances and managing finances, you...

  567. will not follow God's prescription. If you're

  568. just gonna take what I say and what's been said

  569. in a couple of messages and you don't understand

  570. the full counsel of God out of scripture and

  571. what it has to say, because God's word talks

  572. about investing, it talks about saving, it talks

  573. about all kinds of things that have to do with

  574. finances in depth. If you don't understand the

  575. plan, ignorance, you will not walk in God's plan

  576. for finances, for money management. Now you say,

  577. well, pastor, I don't know. I don't know where

  578. to get that. Well, guess what? We made a plan

  579. for all this. We're gonna have, we're offering

  580. this on Wednesday nights, Financial Peace University.

  581. Anybody ever hear that? It's through the Dave

  582. Ramsey ministry. If you wanna learn and understand

  583. about finances, you can sign up for a life group.

  584. It is Financial Peace University. You can go

  585. and we will teach you what God's word has to

  586. say. You don't have to take my word for it. You

  587. don't have to take any preacher's word for it.

  588. We'll show you what the word of God has to say

  589. about money and finances and what it means to

  590. manage the buckets. Amen. So that's an action

  591. step you can take right now. You can hop on the

  592. Church Center app right while I'm talking. Just

  593. go ahead. Don't get on Facebook, but you can

  594. get on the Church Center app, right? And sign

  595. up for that group right now. If you can't make

  596. it to Wednesday night, let us know. We'll try

  597. to figure something out and get you in in the

  598. future or work something out somehow, some way.

  599. Let me tell you what else will keep you from

  600. doing money God's way. History. History. If you've

  601. had a history of finances, being a wreck, a train

  602. wreck in your life. Some people just reserve

  603. themselves. I'll talk with people sometimes.

  604. They just reserve themselves to, pastor, it's

  605. been this way my entire life and it's just gonna

  606. continue that way. Yes, it will unless you do

  607. something, right? You've gotta do something.

  608. You gotta learn something new. You gotta do something

  609. new. You gotta find out what God has. I'm here

  610. to tell you, you can turn around quick. It can

  611. turn around. Now, not tomorrow quick, but it

  612. can turn around. You can shift those things.

  613. Last thing that'll block you from getting involved

  614. in God's management plan is greed or materialism.

  615. And this is a spiritual issue. If your identity

  616. is wrapped up in what you own and what you have

  617. and what you can attain, that's a sin issue.

  618. And the only way that I know to break a sin issue

  619. is to confess it before God and to repent. If

  620. it's materialism. Four things can block you,

  621. right? If you don't believe it's all his, if

  622. you're ignorant to God's plan, if you're hung

  623. up on your history or of greater materialism

  624. is what's in your heart. I'm gonna ask you to

  625. stand. I'm gonna ask you to do this. If you're

  626. new with us, please, you don't need to do this.

  627. If you don't feel comfortable, it's perfectly

  628. fine. We're just gonna pray. But I ask you to

  629. slip out of your seats and move towards the front.

  630. I think this is something we pray together. This

  631. is a family thing we're talking about here. And

  632. I'm passionate about this. You can move that

  633. table. We'll just pop that right up on this step

  634. here to where we get a mile away. Just move up

  635. as close as you can. I promise I won't spit on

  636. anyone. All right. The prayer team's over here.

  637. They're always ready to go and pray with people.

  638. They may slide in behind you. They may lay hand

  639. on you. Pray this morning. Four things. I'm gonna

  640. go back over them again. Just move up closer

  641. so everybody behind you can get in too. We want

  642. everybody up as close as you can get. All right,

  643. so here's what we're gonna do. I want you to

  644. just, wherever you're at, just close your eyes

  645. right now because I don't want you looking around

  646. anybody. I want you focusing. What do you believe

  647. about God's financial plan for your life? What

  648. do you believe? Eyes closed just as you're looking.

  649. Focusing on Him. What do you believe? You believe

  650. it's all His in the bucket? Because if not, you've

  651. got to deal with that. You've got to work that

  652. out first. I can show you more in Scripture.

  653. I don't have time to unfold it all this morning.

  654. Are you ignorant of God's plan with your money

  655. and possessions? Because ignorance will get you.

  656. What you don't know will hurt you. Will hurt

  657. you. Are you ignorant? Are you caught because

  658. you've had a history of mess? In this area of

  659. your life. You can be saved on your way to heaven

  660. and have a complete mess in this part of your

  661. life. It can be a struggle. Or are you dealing

  662. with greed and materialism? Everything you are,

  663. your identity is wrapped up in what you own,

  664. what's in your bank account, what you can earn

  665. in your career, whatever that is. This is time

  666. for spiritual surgery this morning. I want you

  667. just to recognize I'm just delaying. So you can

  668. answer this for yourself because this is important.

  669. You cannot launch forward in God's plan with

  670. money and possessions until this is straight,

  671. until this is right. Everything else will build

  672. off of this. Father, we come before you today.

  673. God, I know you are the keeper of life. God,

  674. your spirit is the one who came this morning.

  675. We felt your presence so strong in this place.

  676. But we know that we must walk in your truth and

  677. your word, Lord, if we are to go forward, Lord,

  678. if we are to know, God, your presence, if we

  679. are to know, God, your freedom, if we are to

  680. know deliverance. God, if we're to know that

  681. one day we will walk into your presence and we

  682. will stand before you at a judgment, at a review,

  683. but we will answer for the deeds that we've done.

  684. And we'll either receive reward or we'll be burned

  685. up like chaff. And God, it's not that we're after

  686. the reward. Lord, we're after hearing, well done,

  687. good and faithful servant. We want your favor.

  688. And we want to see the kingdom increase. So Lord,

  689. I pray for every person in this house. God, there's

  690. people represented here that could be deep in

  691. debt and they need freedom. They might be thinking,

  692. Pastor, you don't understand. I'm drowning right

  693. now. We want to help them, Lord, get above water.

  694. God, your plan will help them get above water.

  695. God, we want them to swim. We want them to know

  696. what it is to walk in your freedom. You want

  697. your people free. So, Lord, I pray for that couple,

  698. that person, that individual. God, I pray, Lord,

  699. for the one that's had the history. And, God,

  700. the one maybe who's caught and they need to confess

  701. and repent right now that it is materialism.

  702. It is the things that's had me. I don't own this

  703. stuff. The stuff owns me. So Lord, I pray, God,

  704. that they would confess it and they would repent.

  705. And God, they might just be like the rich guy

  706. that you encountered. They may have to go sell

  707. a bunch of that just to get it out of their presence.

  708. I don't know, whatever you instruct them to do,

  709. or it might be that they use it for the kingdom,

  710. whatever it is, but Lord, shift their hearts.

  711. And God, help us to stand before you whole and

  712. right and holy, because you are a holy God. And

  713. Lord, we don't want to miss a thing expanding

  714. the kingdom of God. We don't want to miss a thing,

  715. Lord, with what you're doing in the kingdom.

  716. God, I ask for each person. I pray as they pray,

  717. your spirit would overshadow them and fill them.

  718. Give them vision and sight. And Lord, I ask this

  719. in Jesus' name. Take this serious. God can do

  720. great things in your life. He wants, and listen,

  721. I don't know, maybe you're a one talent, right?

  722. Maybe God gave you the one, maybe he gave you

  723. the two, maybe he gave you the five. That's irrelevant.

  724. Just take what God's given you in the bucket

  725. and use it for the kingdom. All right, that's

  726. how you hear well done. to this message from

  727. Lifehouse Church. We pray that you were impacted

  728. powerfully by this message. If you have been
