  1. Thank you for listening to this message from

  2. Lifehouse Church. It is good to be in God's house.

  3. It is Palm Sunday. We're excited about all that

  4. God's doing. Welcome, welcome. It is one week

  5. before Easter, Resurrection Sunday. And today

  6. marks the end of our seven -day fast here at

  7. LifeHouse. And our prayer has been this, as you've

  8. gone through this time of fasting. Our prayer

  9. has been that you hear from the Lord. sometime

  10. during this fast. And I found out sometimes that's

  11. a small way that you hear from God. Sometimes

  12. it's a large way. For me personally, it seems

  13. like God does this small adjustment. Anytime

  14. I get into a fast in some way, God does this

  15. small adjustment inside of me that translates

  16. to something much bigger on the outside of me

  17. later on. And I hope that whether that was small

  18. or large or some experience in between, that

  19. you took time and you got with God and sought

  20. the Lord. Our prayer is that you just, that continues

  21. to happen in your life. That continues to be

  22. something that's a part of your spiritual walk.

  23. And along with that, you were praying over invitations.

  24. We're just trusting that God's going to break

  25. out and do amazing things in your life and in

  26. the future. Amen. You believe it with me? Come

  27. on, it takes faith. God moves on faith, not just

  28. my word, right? Or not just your word, but it's

  29. faith in him. And we're believing for that. Well,

  30. let me start today's message with a statement

  31. that I know is true of me, could possibly be

  32. true of you, but this is the statement I want

  33. to make. There have been times in my life that

  34. I have completely underestimated the person that

  35. was standing in front of me. Anybody with me?

  36. Did you ever underestimate the person who was

  37. in front of you? Maybe I underestimated their

  38. ability. Maybe I underestimated their talent,

  39. their gift, right, their wisdom. Maybe their

  40. savvy, even their intellect. Anybody ever question

  41. somebody's intellect? You probably did that when

  42. you were standing in front of me, right? You

  43. underestimated, you know, what God has brought

  44. them through or who they are in Jesus Christ.

  45. Sometimes you just completely miss it with someone.

  46. They're standing there. And I remember doing

  47. this with our children, particularly our kids

  48. when they were little. Sometimes I would underestimate

  49. what they could do or what they could accomplish.

  50. And I remember this happening one day when my

  51. children were very young. Actually, when the

  52. girls were five and under, both girls were five

  53. and under at the time. I remember underestimating

  54. something. And we tell this story often in our

  55. family because it is a cautionary tale to never,

  56. ever. ever underestimate a person that's standing

  57. in front of you, even if they're under three

  58. feet tall. Amen? It's true. And this is how it

  59. went down for me. At that time, Dixie and I had

  60. bought our first home, and it was in the metropolis

  61. of Windburn, PA, which is a very small town where

  62. we grew up. And we bought this little split -entry

  63. house. And it had a very small yard. It was a

  64. small house. And you came in the door. And if

  65. you came in the door of that house, you would

  66. go up a set of steps, right? It was split -entry.

  67. There were stairs going down, stairs going up.

  68. You'd go up the steps. You'd be looking at the

  69. kitchen. There'd be a little kind of eat -in

  70. dining area to the left. hallway that had one

  71. bathroom and three bedrooms down to the right.

  72. If you came in the house and went down the steps,

  73. you went down into the lower level, which was

  74. kind of the foundation, which we kind of had

  75. a makeshift living room down there. And then

  76. you'd make a right, you would go immediately

  77. out the door into an integrated garage that was

  78. on the lower level. That was it. That was the

  79. whole house. And I remember it was a warm summer

  80. day. And Dixie left. She went to run errands.

  81. And I was in charge of the girls. My job was

  82. to keep them alive and not to let them bleed

  83. arterially. So she got home. That was my job.

  84. That was it. And I took my job serious. But I

  85. was in the garage, and I was doing some stuff,

  86. and I was working. And one of my daughters came

  87. in and said, Dad, I want a cookie. Now, remember,

  88. they're five and under. So one of them came in

  89. and said, I want a cookie. And I said, well,

  90. no problem. I'm all about a midday cookie break.

  91. Amen. Come on, that's spiritual. All right. And

  92. I was like, no problem, but you cannot go upstairs

  93. with your shoes on. We had just got some carpet

  94. in the house. You're not allowed in with your

  95. shoes on. You take your shoes off. You can go

  96. up and get a cookie. I don't want to take my

  97. shoes off. Well, you have to take your shoes

  98. off if you want to get a cookie. I don't want

  99. to take my shoes off. You have to take your shoes

  100. off if you want to get a cookie. I don't want

  101. to take my shoes off. Let me be clear. You have

  102. to. How many of you got tired of kids three times?

  103. I don't know why. All right. You have to take

  104. your shoes off if you want to get up and get

  105. a cookie. And she goes, okay. And she turned

  106. around and went back outside. And she went out

  107. and started playing. And I'm like, yes, I won.

  108. Ha! You know? Got it. Nailed it. And I went back

  109. to busy what I was doing. And I kept doing what

  110. I was doing. And all of a sudden, 10 minutes

  111. later, she comes back in again. She goes, dad,

  112. I got a surprise for you. She goes, close your

  113. eyes and hold out your hand. And I'm like, awesome.

  114. You know? And I'm waiting. And I figure she's

  115. getting, you know, like dandelions. She probably

  116. picked a bunch of dandelions. She's going to

  117. say it because I didn't. Weeding feed in my yard.

  118. And I had a lot of dandelions. And, you know,

  119. I figured she'd bring some dandelions, put it

  120. in my hand, or maybe a rock or a frog or something

  121. she found. I was like, I didn't know what it

  122. was. So I am standing in the middle of the garage.

  123. I'm like this, just waiting, right? Been over

  124. waiting to get something in my hands. And I hear

  125. some shuffling around. I'm like, oh, here it

  126. comes. She's like, don't open your eyes, Dad.

  127. And then all of a sudden I hear a doorknob and

  128. ka -thunk. I'm like, and then nothing. A few

  129. seconds later, I open my eyes. No child in front

  130. of me. She went in the door to go upstairs to

  131. get a cookie, and there's no shoes sitting at

  132. the door. And I'm thinking to myself, I know

  133. she's smarter than what I think she is, right?

  134. I underestimated her, so I thought she's never

  135. going to come back down the same way. So I tore

  136. off out of the garage, I ran around the back

  137. of the house, and I knew she'd come out the back

  138. deck, right? Out the door, out the back deck,

  139. out of the kitchen, and sure enough, a minute

  140. later, pile of cookies this large, right? In

  141. one hand, she's pulling the door shut, and I'm

  142. like, hey! You know, cookies in the air everywhere.

  143. And I can't remember if I scolded her or if we

  144. just sat down and ate some cookies because it

  145. was so funny. But one of the greatest mistakes

  146. you can ever make is underestimating somebody

  147. that's standing in front of you. And even the

  148. bigger mistake is if you underestimate Jesus.

  149. If you underestimate the Son of God, and I'm

  150. not sure how we do it, why we do it, and sometimes

  151. I do it. It's the most bizarre thing in my mind

  152. that I underestimate the Son of God. I underestimate

  153. the one who has all power, who has all knowledge,

  154. who can be in all places at one time. Somehow,

  155. I underestimate Him. Somehow I put him in this

  156. strange human box, right? And pull him out and

  157. think he has human characteristics and he's going

  158. to do things like I'm going to do it, right?

  159. And I place him in this unholy expectation of

  160. God, the all -powerful creator of all things.

  161. And it's the most ridiculous thing in the world.

  162. And I have become painfully aware over the years

  163. that it is a big, big mistake to underestimate

  164. Jesus. And unfortunately, So many who surrounded

  165. Jesus when he walked on the earth made this same

  166. mistake. Even those who flooded into the streets

  167. of Jerusalem and pulled out palm branches and

  168. laid them down and weighed them and said, Hosanna,

  169. Hosanna, blessed is he who comes in the name

  170. of the Lord, the King of Israel. If you got your

  171. Bibles, I want you to turn to John chapter 11

    John 11 chapter mention

  172. this morning. We're going to verse 55. We're

  173. going to start there. John 11, 55. And as you

  174. go, I'm going to pray. I'm going to pray over

  175. our ears and our heart to receive the word. Father,

  176. God, as we turn in your word, God, I pray for

  177. each person in the house. God, move upon us right

  178. now. Move upon our ears. Move upon our hearts.

  179. Move upon our heads. Lord, that we might receive

  180. the amazing word of God. And Lord, that it might

  181. change our thoughts, our minds, and our actions.

  182. And Lord, we just give you praise and we give

  183. you glory. And everybody said together, amen

  184. and amen. All right, John chapter 11, verse 55,

    John 11:55

  185. and it says this, and the Passover of the Jews

  186. was near, and many went from the country up to

  187. Jerusalem before the Passover to purify themselves.

  188. Now, let me explain this just a little bit, because

  189. you need to know what's taking place here and

  190. what's happening. What's taking place is that

  191. people are flooding into the city of Jerusalem.

  192. And for Passover, they're there. The Jewish people

  193. are coming in to celebrate Passover. So this

  194. is an ancient biblical practice, and it actually

  195. still takes place today. Passover was and still

  196. is a major Jewish holiday, right, of the Israelites.

  197. And it's the Jewish people celebrating God pulling

  198. the Israelites or the Jews. out of Egyptian slavery

  199. centuries before. And the festival and the celebration

  200. lasts for about seven to eight days in length,

  201. and it is in the spring of the year. And it is

  202. characterized by a retelling of the story of

  203. Exodus, and it's done over a meal called the

  204. Seder. And the Seder meal or the festival takes

  205. place, and they tell this story of God's deliverance.

  206. And where we're at in Scripture today, they're

  207. coming into the city of Jerusalem once again

  208. to... celebrate Passover, and they're preparing

  209. for Passover. And how they did it is they came

  210. into the city, and there was a ritual cleansing

  211. that would take place, a ritual immersion. It

  212. was called mikvah. And it was a ceremonial cleansing

  213. that would take place before Passover. So they

  214. would get there a week early. And if somebody

  215. had touched something that was dead previously

  216. to Passover, They would come in. They would be

  217. sprinkled with water that was mixed with ashes

  218. from a red heifer. And that would happen on the

  219. third and seventh day before Passover. And everybody

  220. would come in for this cleansing that would take

  221. place to get ready to celebrate Passover. And

  222. so hundreds, maybe thousands and thousands of

  223. people poured into Jerusalem in this period of

  224. time. And it was a festival, right? There was

  225. a buzz in the air. But this year was a little

  226. different because not only was it Passover, but

  227. there was a stir because news about Jesus had

  228. circulated in Jerusalem. News about the man who

  229. raised Lazarus, a town two miles away from the

  230. dead. The prophet, the teacher, the healer, those

  231. who believe that this possibly could be the prophesied

  232. Messiah. And this particular Jewish crowd with

  233. great expectation that Jesus could possibly be

  234. the next Jewish king in line to lead them over

  235. Rome in victory. Rome was ruling the area, and

  236. they started to believe that Jesus, this guy

  237. who could heal and call people back from the

  238. dead. could be the one who leads him out from

  239. underneath Rome. And these people weren't just

  240. a bunch of starstruck individuals, Jewish people,

  241. who were waiting for Jesus to come in, right,

  242. and looking for to get a selfie with him. That's

  243. not what they were after. They started really

  244. believing that there was freedom on the horizon,

  245. and Jesus could make the difference as he comes

  246. into the city, and they would hail him as king.

  247. And all this is taking place in the city where

  248. Jesus is about to come. There's Pharisees. Now,

  249. not everyone was looking for Jesus, and not everybody

  250. was looking for him to be king. There were Pharisees

  251. who were corrupt Jewish leaders, and they were

  252. interested in taking Jesus down. As a matter

  253. of fact, they had already been hatching plans

  254. to take him out. And the first opportunity they

  255. could, they wanted people, they were already

  256. putting the word out for people to report back

  257. so they could come and see Jesus. Rome is on

  258. high alert because of the festival that's taking

  259. place. They don't want any sudden uprisings.

  260. They certainly don't want, you know, this news

  261. of a king, a would -be Jewish king coming in.

  262. First of all, that was illegal in Rome because

  263. the only king they recognized was Caesar. Anybody

  264. else who was recognized as king was considered

  265. a criminal. and they would take him out. And

  266. Jesus' disciples are among those who are around

  267. Jesus getting ready to come in, and they don't

  268. even know that there's a traitor among them at

  269. this point yet. Here's the thing. While all this

  270. is taking place, as Jesus is getting ready to

  271. come in to the city of Jerusalem, everybody surrounding

  272. Jesus, even his disciples, underestimate who

  273. he is. Most are completely clueless of the enormity

  274. of what he is about to accomplish. Their personal

  275. observations are based on their personal preferences

  276. or their personal experience at that moment.

  277. They underestimate his power, his eternal impact,

  278. God's eternal plan in all of this. And they're

  279. so caught up in the moment of what's taking place

  280. and their personal tensions that they completely

  281. underestimate. A man who's actually standing

  282. in front of him who is the son of God. That was

  283. a long intro to get to the reading. All right.

  284. John chapter 11, 55. I'm going to reread the

    John 11 chapter mention

  285. first verse. And the Passover of the Jews was

  286. near. And many went from that country up to Jerusalem

  287. before the Passover to purify themselves. And

  288. they sought Jesus and spoke among themselves

  289. as they stood in the temple. What do you think?

  290. Will he not come to the feast? Now both the chief

  291. priests and the Pharisees had given a command

  292. that if anyone knew where he was, he should report

  293. it that they might seize him. Then six days before

  294. the Passover, Jesus came to Bethany where Lazarus

  295. was, who had been dead, whom he had raised from

  296. the dead. Jesus and the disciples are on the

  297. way to Jerusalem. They make a pit stop in Bethany

  298. to see Lazarus, right, who he had raised, his

  299. friend, who he had raised up a week or two weeks

  300. earlier than this. And there they made a supper,

  301. and Martha served, but Lazarus was one who sat

  302. at the table with him. And Mary, one of the sisters,

  303. took a pound of very costly oil of spikenard,

  304. anointed the feet of Jesus, and wiped his feet

  305. with her hair. And the house was filled with

  306. the fragrance of oil. But one of his disciples,

  307. Judas, This is the betrayer, Iscariot. Simon's

  308. son, who would betray him, said, why was this

  309. fragrant oil not sold for 300 denarii, which

  310. is close to a year's wages, and given to the

  311. poor? This he said, not that he cared for the

  312. poor, but because he was a thief and had the

  313. money box and used to take what was put in it.

  314. One of the saddest stories in all of Scripture

  315. is of Judas, one of Jesus' 12 disciples, who

  316. gets caught up in thievery. even while he walks

  317. with the Son of God, and later sells Jesus out

  318. for 30 pieces of silver to the chief priests

  319. and the Pharisees. Judas ends up realizing that

  320. he underestimates Jesus and takes his own life.

  321. He hangs himself later on. Verse 7 says, but

  322. Jesus said, let her alone. She has kept this

  323. for the day of my burial. For the poor you have

  324. with you always, but me you do not always have.

  325. Now a great many of the Jews knew that he was

  326. there, and they came, not for Jesus' sake only,

  327. but that they might also see Lazarus, whom had

  328. been raised from the dead. But the chief priests

  329. plotted to put Lazarus to death also, because

  330. on account of him, many of the Jews went away

  331. and believed in Jesus. The next day, the multitude

  332. that had come to the feast, when they had heard

  333. that Jesus was coming to Jerusalem, took branches,

  334. come on, grab your branch, took branches of palm,

  335. right, trees, and went out to meet him, and they

  336. cried out. Hosanna. Go ahead and say it. Hosanna.

  337. Hosanna. Blessed is he who comes in the name

  338. of the Lord, the King of Israel. Then Jesus,

  339. when he had found a donkey, sat on it as it is

  340. written, Fear not, daughter of Zion. Behold,

  341. your king is coming, sitting on a donkey's coat.

  342. His disciples did not understand these things

  343. at first, but when Jesus was glorified, then

  344. they remembered that these things were written

  345. about him and that they had done these things

  346. to him. Jesus rides into Jerusalem. He's met

  347. by a crowd on the streets waiting for him. They're

  348. waving palm branches just like you wave, right?

  349. One of the gospel accounts says that they also

  350. took their clothes, they took their outer garments

  351. off, and they laid them in the streets as Jesus

  352. rode in on this young colt. This was a sign of

  353. a king coming into a city. And if a king was

  354. on a coat instead of a horse, instead of a steed

  355. of some kind, it meant that it was a king of

  356. peace, a sign of peace, a peaceful king coming

  357. in. And this group that's watching, right, they're

  358. cheering. They have palm branches. They're bowing.

  359. They're laying clothes in the street, yelling

  360. out, Hosanna, Hosanna, believing that Jesus is

  361. going to be the next Messiah and he's going to

  362. deliver them. Some of them probably believe that

  363. because they saw Jesus raise Lazarus from the

  364. dead. Others of them, some of this group may

  365. have known the ancient prophecies. They may have

  366. known the prophecies from Daniel that actually

  367. spoke about the number of days when the Messiah

  368. would ride into Jerusalem. Actually, 383 years

  369. to the day when Jesus would ride in. Whatever

  370. convinced them, they believed that this was a

  371. conquering king. But they deeply underestimated.

  372. what Jesus was really up to. They thought that

  373. Jesus was their king to take down Rome, but Jesus

  374. was not just their king. He was the king. He

  375. was riding in to take all of evil down for all

  376. of time. And the people around him were clueless.

  377. They underestimated. Days later, they would abandon

  378. Jesus as he's crucified, as he's beaten, right?

  379. And even his own disciples would become confused

  380. and disoriented. They would abandon Jesus the

  381. same at the crucifixion, not understanding the

  382. greater plan. As you and I hold a palm branch,

  383. we have one advantage. We're on the backside

  384. of the story. We get to look back. But don't

  385. underestimate the king who rode into Jerusalem.

  386. Don't underestimate the plan of God that Jesus

  387. was committed to complete, right? Don't underestimate

  388. the enormity. of what Jesus would complete in

  389. the next few days. Don't underestimate that all

  390. of heaven was at work in this plan. Don't underestimate

  391. that Jesus would make a kingdom without end.

  392. And I'm just going to take a few minutes this

  393. morning and give you a few things that Jesus

  394. completed in those few short days following.

  395. The things that he finalized once he went to

  396. the cross, once he was betrayed, once he was

  397. pulled from his cross, the Word of God tells

  398. us that he was beaten for hours on end so badly

  399. that they couldn't even recognize him as a human

  400. being. They placed him on a cross at that point,

  401. drove nails in his hands and his feet, put him

  402. in a grave, and three days later, he comes out

  403. of the grave. And when Jesus came out of that

  404. grave, he accomplished some things, some things

  405. that were much greater than just what the Jewish

  406. people had in mind or even what Rome could have

  407. even fathomed. They understood this. We understand

  408. that they underestimated the completed work of

  409. atonement. and forgiveness provided for our sin.

  410. It's one of the things that Jesus did. Jesus

  411. would bear the full punishment and the weight

  412. of the wrath of God over sin. He would take your

  413. sin and my sin, the punishment that we deserve,

  414. the death that we deserve, He would take upon

  415. Himself. I can tell you for certain, anytime

  416. sin is in the picture, something dies. It's true.

  417. We don't like to believe that. We don't like

  418. to think about it. In fact, the Word of God tells

  419. us if we die in our sin without Jesus, we're

  420. dead, spiritually. Jesus came, and He died on

  421. a cross. He rose to life, not just to be a Jewish

  422. king, to take care of one slice of Jewish history.

  423. He came to become the supreme sacrifice for all

  424. of mankind, to give us opportunity to be free

  425. of sin. pay for a meal for you. If you've ever

  426. gone to a restaurant and somebody, especially

  427. if it happens randomly, somebody comes up and

  428. pays for your meal, it is a humbling thing, right?

  429. It's a humbling thing to know that somebody would

  430. pay the price for you to sit down and just have

  431. one meal. But imagine how we should feel that

  432. somebody died in my place. The sin that was in

  433. my life, it should have been my death. And he

  434. didn't just buy me a meal. He didn't even just

  435. buy me a house or a car. He died for me. He died

  436. for you. He pushed back all of the penalty of

  437. sin for all of us. He was the king. We underestimate

  438. what he accomplished at the cross. Hebrews 10

  439. .1 says this, and every priest stands ministering

  440. daily and offering repeatedly the same sacrifices.

  441. This is what took place before Jesus. Priests

  442. would bring sacrifice after animal sacrifice

  443. after animal sacrifice, trying to satisfy, right,

  444. the payment for sin. It says, which could never

  445. take away the sins. But this man, after he had

  446. offered one sacrifice for sins forever, sat down

  447. at the right hand of God. From that time on,

  448. waiting till his enemies are made his footstool.

  449. For one offering, he had perfected forever those

  450. who are being sanctified. We underestimate him.

  451. Jesus left the fullness of heaven. He came down

  452. in bodily form. Not like us. Not born into sin,

  453. but born of a virgin. He's born, he remains sinless,

  454. tempted in every way as we are, suffers brutality

  455. because of the sin we deserved, and he pays the

  456. price once and for all. They underestimated what

  457. Jesus was doing for them. Hebrews 7 .26 says

  458. this, For such a high priest was fitting for

  459. us, who is holy, harmless, undefiled, separate

  460. from sinners, and has become higher than the

  461. heavens. Who does not need daily as those high

  462. priests to offer up sacrifices, first for their

  463. own sins and then for the people's? For this

  464. he did once for all when he offered up himself.

  465. For the law points as high priests men who have

  466. weakness, but the word of the oath which came

  467. after the law points the son who has been perfected

  468. forever. He willingly gives himself up to death

  469. to preserve us from death. Don't underestimate

  470. him. Don't underestimate him. They also underestimated

  471. Jesus' power and victory over evil. They had

  472. no idea of the transfer that was about to take

  473. place as they placed Jesus in the tomb and in

  474. the grave. They had no idea of the completed

  475. work that Jesus would go and disarm, right? It

  476. marked a time when he would go and literally

  477. disarm all of evil. He would disarm Satan and

  478. the powers of darkness. He would disarm and there

  479. would be a transfer of power. What was broken

  480. at the beginning in the garden when man sinned

  481. initially, Jesus would come. It's his point in

  482. time and authority and power transfer would take

  483. place back to him. Colossians 2 11 says this

  484. in him we were also circumcised the circumcision

  485. made without hands by putting off the body of

  486. the sins of the flesh by the circumcision of

  487. Christ buried with him in baptism in which you

  488. also were raised with him through the faith in

  489. the working of God who raised him from the dead

  490. and you being dead in your trespasses and uncircumcision

  491. of flesh he made alive together with him Having

  492. forgiven your trespasses, having wiped out the

  493. handwriting of the requirements that was against

  494. us, which was contrary to us, and which has taken

  495. it out of the way, having nailed it to the cross,

  496. having disarmed principalities, say principalities,

  497. and powers, say powers, he made a public spectacle

  498. of them, triumphing over them in it. You can

  499. think of it as a weapon transfer. He took from

  500. the enemy the weapons of warfare. He disarmed

  501. hell and the grave. He placed and took back the

  502. weapons that would destroy us. And we are no

  503. longer powerless over evil. We are no longer

  504. in a place. In Christ, we have power over the

  505. enemy. In Christ, we have power over evil. In

  506. Christ, we have power over the rulers of darkness

  507. and the principalities and those who exude evil

  508. across the earth. He holds the power, and there

  509. was a transfer that took place. Do you know evil

  510. has an expiration date? It really does. It has

  511. an expiration. Because Jesus has the power, he

  512. put an expiration date on evil. And some of you

  513. might be thinking in your head, well, then why

  514. is he waiting so long? Why doesn't he just do

  515. it right now? Anybody ever wonder that? Anybody

  516. with me on that? Anybody ever just like see somebody

  517. really evil on TV and just like, Lord, just zap

  518. them. Right? Like a bug zapper. Just get them,

  519. Jesus. But then I think about, I was evil once.

  520. What if he'd done that to me? I wouldn't be here.

  521. Right? Why is there an expiration date? Why is

  522. God waiting? Why is Jesus—the transfer took place

  523. already. The authority's already shifted. Why

  524. is He waiting? Because God has mercy. Because

  525. Jesus has mercy. His mercy is waiting. There

  526. are those who are steeped in evil, and they need

  527. to repent. They need to turn back to God. They

  528. need that. They need that time. But there's a

  529. day. There really is. There's a day the judgment

  530. is coming. There's a day when God's no longer

  531. going to be patient. Evil has an expiration date.

  532. All the power of evil will flip. Worship team,

  533. if you'd come. There's a time of judgment. Last

  534. thing we underestimate. We underestimate Jesus'

  535. power to make all things new. 2 Corinthians 5

  536. .16 says this, Therefore, from now on, we regard

  537. no one according to the flesh, even though we

  538. have known Christ according to the flesh. Yet

  539. now we know him thus no longer. Therefore, if

  540. anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. Old

  541. things have passed away. Behold, all things have

  542. become new. Now, all things are of God. who has

  543. reconciled us to himself through Jesus Christ,

  544. and has given us the ministry of reconciliation.

  545. That is that God was in Christ reconciling the

  546. world to himself, not imputing or trespassing

  547. to them, and has committed to us the word of

  548. reconciliation. We underestimate what Jesus did

  549. at the cross. He came not just to patch you up.

  550. So many times we think we're going to come to

  551. Christ and we're going to come to God and he's

  552. going to patch up a mess in our life, right?

  553. You're going to be like it and stick it, you

  554. know? I'm going to get band -aid on whatever's

  555. going on and hopefully we can limp on through.

  556. That is not what the word of God says. When he

  557. came out of the grave on his own authority, right?

  558. When he spoke life into himself and came out

  559. of the grave, the word of God says that we become

  560. new. creation. And let me tell you something,

  561. the creation that's new is not just going to

  562. stop with just, it's not a patch, it's not even

  563. just going to stop with us. There is a cosmic

  564. renewal that you're in the middle of right now.

  565. It's in the timeline that God has laid out. There's

  566. a cosmic renewal taking place, and it's not just

  567. a simple reverse of the curse. It is a renewal

  568. that is going to come in Christ. That first starts

  569. in Jesus, and it is birthed with inside of us.

  570. We become a new creation inside. One day, we

  571. will be new creatures with Him. This body will

  572. fade away, and I will have a redeemed body that

  573. will have no limitations. I can't wait for that

  574. to happen. I'm thinking probably just about like

  575. the angels, you know, and it's going to take

  576. place. And the Word of God, if you follow along

  577. in the Word of God and you look into Revelation,

  578. He's going to renovate this earth. Take a good

  579. look around you. All this, He's going to make

  580. this all new around us. We underestimate what

  581. Jesus did. We underestimate what he can do. Amen?

  582. It's true if you'd stand this morning. And I

  583. said all that to say this. Don't underestimate

  584. Jesus. Don't underestimate what he can do in

  585. your life. He can make you a new creation. He

  586. can change your heart and your mind. I sit with

  587. people sometimes, and I listen to them, and I

  588. listen to them in all their mess, because we've

  589. all been a mess, like we've all been in sin.

  590. And I'll sit and listen to their, what's going

  591. on. And sometimes I just want to tell them, you

  592. have, you don't understand. You don't have to

  593. be in all this. He wants to make you new. He

  594. wants to do a new thing in you. I know they don't

  595. know what they don't know. That's why we got

  596. to tell them. But He can change it all. He can

  597. change your mind. He can change your heart. He

  598. can change how you walk, how you live, how you

  599. think. There's nothing else you will ever engage

  600. in that can do what God can do inside of you.

  601. How many of you in this house, as a testimony,

  602. raise your hand. Our new creations in Christ.

  603. How many of you could testify of the new thing

  604. that God did in you that changed everything?

  605. Come on. They had no idea who was coming into

  606. the city and how big his plan really was. Even

  607. his disciples didn't know. Lifehouse Church.
