Thank you for listening to this message from
-
Lifehouse Church. Thank you for participating
-
and praying and continue to pray. We are truly
-
blessed with children in this church. And as
-
a church, man, I remember growing up, I had people
-
praying over me. I remember going to the altar.
-
I remember people pulling me off to the side
-
and just laying hands on me and praying over
-
me. So do that. You see kids running around this
-
church or walking around this church, get a teenager,
-
hug them and say, hey, I just want to pray a
-
prayer of blessing over you and speak over their
-
lives. It's an incredibly important thing. and
-
it's an amazing thing to be a part of and really
-
actually to be a recipient of those things. Well,
-
I want to read a little article, a little something
-
I came across this week. Dave Harvey writes in
-
Rescuing Ambition, he says this, For the past
-
couple decades, I've had a condition that has
-
kept me from sleeping well. The technical term
-
was apnea, so I went to see the doctor. The doctor's
-
solution, I'll remove your uvula, and you will
-
not snore anymore. You'll sleep better. I didn't
-
even know what a uvula was. But I freaked out
-
when he suggested removing it. And they cut it
-
out, and now I really can sleep. But there was
-
something that I didn't expect. When he removed
-
it, I found my dreams. You see, because I never
-
slept, I never really dreamed. Now, I know, he
-
says, the experts tell you that you dream all
-
the time. You just don't remember dreaming. But
-
not once do I remember a dream because I could
-
not sleep through the night. I didn't even know
-
I had lost my dreams until I found them, or rather
-
until they returned to me. Actually, they were
-
rescued, airlifted in from some cold, lifeless
-
crevice where dreams hibernate until the arrival
-
of deep sleep or something like that, he says.
-
Now, I know all this may sound a bit strange,
-
but it's true. My dreams were rescued by a guy
-
with a scalpel. Outside of survival, one of the
-
most motivating factors in all of life is a vision
-
or a dream. If you have a right vision, if you
-
have a right dream, it can change it all. A God
-
vision, a God dream will not just simply spice
-
up your sleep time, right? A God vision or a
-
God dream will send you on missions that may
-
last you a lifetime. It'll send you on a path
-
that will shift and change. And so many of us
-
have heard the stories, right? How many of you,
-
raise your hand if you've heard the story of
-
somebody that got a dream or a vision. They felt
-
like God placed something in their lives. Come
-
on. How many of you know someone like that? Right?
-
Maybe it was you. And they started a nonprofit.
-
They started a business. They started a ministry
-
somewhere because the moment in time God gave
-
a vision or a dream. You're sitting in a church
-
that started with a vision and a dream. God's
-
speaking into our hearts. You're listening online
-
this morning. You're listening to a church that's
-
birthed out of a vision and a dream. And back
-
in 2008, a few things, few things, very few things
-
are more powerful than a God -given vision and
-
a God -given dream. A holy snapshot of a preferred
-
future, right? They come straight from the throne
-
room of grace, right from God's house, right
-
from God's voice. How we live, it shifts what
-
we do. It changes the direction we go in. And
-
it is the Holy Spirit who gives us those God
-
-sized visions and dreams. Turn to somebody right
-
now. Tell them it's in visions and dreams today.
-
It's visions and dreams. Come on, preach to them
-
for a second. If you have your Bibles, we're
-
going to go to Acts chapter 2, verse 17. We're
-
going to jump back and forth between Acts chapter
Acts 2 chapter mention
-
2 and Acts chapter 1. And I'm going to pray over
Acts 1 chapter mention
-
the message and pray over the green invitation
-
balls that we have down here. If you're new and
-
didn't know what these are, these are invitations.
-
We're believing for people to come into the house
-
of God this morning. Father, we come before you.
-
Lord, we place our lives before you. We give
-
ourselves to you. Lord, we ask that you touch
-
our ears and our hearts that we might be able
-
to hear your word. And God, that it might settle
-
in. our spirit. And Lord, that we might live
-
out the truth of God in our lives. And we just
-
give you praise and glory. God, we pray over
-
these invitations. God, that have gone out, we're
-
believing for more. God, I'm believing to fill
-
this tank up by the end, God, of this summer.
-
And Lord, God, to see souls and lives come in,
-
represented in these orange balls. In Jesus'
-
name, we believe this. And everybody said together,
-
amen and amen. Well, following Pentecost, 120
-
believers. I preached about this last week. If
-
you want to hear more about that, go ahead and
-
back and listen to next week when you get home.
-
But 120 believers are baptized in the Holy Spirit.
-
The Holy Spirit is poured out. And these 120
-
believers that are in the upper room, they pour
-
out into the streets of Jerusalem. They begin
-
to preach. They begin to speak. The name of God,
-
the word of God, they begin to worship. And Peter
-
is one of these individuals who pour out into
-
the street. Peter is one of Jesus' closest disciples.
-
And as they go into the street and people begin
-
to listen to the noise and what's taking place
-
as the Holy Spirit is poured out, Peter sees
-
a crowd begin to gather, and he thinks this is
-
an awesome time to preach. And he ends up preaching,
-
and 3 ,000 people come to know the Lord. And
-
they begin to listen to prophetic words that
-
he speaks, and that's what we're going to pick
-
up in Acts 2 .17. And it says this. And it shall
-
come to pass in the last days. Now, I don't know
-
if you know this or not, but I believe we're
-
in the last days. If you know Bible prophecy,
-
if you're looking and listening in any kind of
-
way, this is true. This is relevant for us right
-
now. It says it shall come to pass in the last
-
days, says God, that I will pour out my spirit
-
on all flesh. Holy Spirit on all flesh. Your
-
sons and your daughters shall prophesy. That's
-
what it says. That means that your sons and daughters
-
will become spokesmen for God, that the word
-
of God will begin to come from our sons and our
-
daughters. That should get you excited for any
-
of the teenagers in the house, even children,
-
right? And it says your young men shall see visions.
-
Say visions. Young men will see visions. Your
-
old men shall dream dreams. The young men are
-
going to see visions. The old guys are going
-
to dream dreams. Amen? I thought about that for
-
about 30 seconds, and I thought. Why are the
-
old guys have to dream the dreams? And then it
-
dawned on me, they sleep a lot more, right? God's
-
like, don't wake them up. Just talk to them while
-
they're sleeping, right? They're going to dream
-
dreams. And young men are going to see visions.
-
And verse 18, ladies, he doesn't leave you out
-
either. He says, on my menservants and on my
-
maidservants, same for you, I will pour out my
-
spirit in those days and they shall prophesy.
-
They will speak God, right? One of the reasons
-
that the Holy Spirit was sent to them and to
-
us is so that we experience God -sized visions
-
and God -sized dreams personally. Now this morning,
-
I'm not talking about pizza dreams. How many
-
of you have ever had a pizza dream? You know
-
what I'm talking about. A pizza dream is one
-
of those weird dreams about people and places
-
you may or may not know. I had one of these the
-
other night. I didn't know the people in the
-
dream. I didn't know where I was in the dream.
-
It didn't make any sense. I think I ate too much
-
food before I went to bed. It was just strange,
-
random information. And if you don't know anything
-
about what happens when you sleep, your brain
-
kind of recategorizes all the information from
-
the day. Things that you took in consciously
-
and subconsciously, your brain will recategorize
-
and organize. It kind of drops into your memory.
-
That's what happens in the middle of the night.
-
I'm not talking about those kind of dreams this
-
morning. I'm talking about the kind of dreams
-
that God gives you. They're different kind of
-
dreams. When God gives you a dream, you're going
-
to know it's him, right? It's not a random bunch
-
of information that's flying around. When God
-
gives you a vision, when God gives you a dream,
-
it's not just... cataloging information. It is
-
something that God births in you. It's something
-
that settles in your head, your heart, and your
-
soul. I've only had this happen a few times in
-
my life, but I could tell you every one of them.
-
I could tell you in detail what God dropped into
-
my spirit. It's God bringing a dream alive. He's
-
birthing a plant. It's one of the ways God talks
-
to us. It's Holy Spirit communing with our spirit
-
so that we hear God. So we see him. It's one
-
of the ways God speaks. Visions and dreams. God
-
is amazingly creative when it comes to communication.
-
And this is a big deal. Because pre -Pentecost,
-
right? Pre -Jesus coming out of the grave. Pre
-
-Pentecost, the way God spoke was through prophets
-
and prophetesses, right? Prophets, men and women
-
who were prophets. Men and women who were sent
-
by God to be messengers of God. Basically, before
-
Jesus and before the Holy Spirit, when you heard
-
the word of God, it was kind of third hand. God
-
will speak to a prophet and then the prophet
-
would come and speak to the people. It was kind
-
of like YouTube, but more reliable, right? More
-
holy, more actually true. Right? That's how it
-
worked back pre -resurrection of Jesus Christ.
-
Pre -Pentecost. Pre -baptism of the Holy Spirit.
-
The Holy Spirit being poured out. Prophets would
-
speak. One of the reasons that Jesus said, when
-
I leave, it's expedient that I go away. He told
-
his disciples, the followers, he said, when I
-
leave this earth and I go back to be with the
-
Father, it is expedient that I go. Because if
-
I go, I'm going to send the Holy Spirit back.
-
And he's going to speak to you. He's going to
-
give you dreams. He's going to give you visions.
-
He's going to speak in your heart. He's going
-
to bring the word of God alive. And every one
-
of us have the opportunity. Holy Spirit comes
-
to every one of us in Christ, right? And if we
-
get immersed in God's presence, we have the opportunity
-
to hear from God personally. You can experience
-
hand -delivered visions, hand -delivered dreams
-
from heaven. It's not a third -party spokesman
-
like the prophet. It's direct mail from heaven,
-
right? How many of you like getting mail? Everybody
-
likes getting mail, especially if it's lumpy
-
mail. You ever get that mail that's got a pen
-
in it? You have to open it. Amen? It's true.
-
A direct connection through the Holy Spirit.
-
He's the third person of the Trinity who comes.
-
And so many people, you know, especially in Christian
-
circles, so many people are, you know, going
-
and chasing after prophets, people that call
-
themselves prophets, modern day prophets. And
-
I'm cool with a modern day prophet. Sometimes
-
God speaks through the word, but usually when
-
a prophet comes and speaks over you, it should
-
be something that the Holy Spirit's already speaking
-
into your spirit. Usually it's just a confirmation
-
of something that God's already saying to you.
-
We've got a direct line to God. Holy Spirit came
-
back. The word of God tells us came to dwell
-
in each one of us at salvation, so we hear from
-
God personally, and then we can have the experience
-
of being immersed in the Spirit. If you want
-
to hear and see the Holy Spirit, you want to
-
get God -sized vision and dream, I want those
-
messages, you want those messages, a direct line
-
from God. I want a snapshot of God's preferred
-
future for my life. Amen? It's true. It's always
-
so much better than mine. I know we all got our
-
own snapshot of what God's preferred future is,
-
or what our preferred future is, but God's is
-
always so much better. Seek him out. Seek for
-
this. And the Lord does not just give us visions
-
and dreams through the Holy Spirit, but he provides
-
what I call complimenting empowerments. This
-
comes along with Holy Spirit. This comes along
-
with the Holy Ghost. Visions and dreams, and
-
then he gives complimenting empowerments. Now,
-
I want you to go in your Bibles, jump back to
-
Acts chapter 1, verse 4, and I'm going to read
-
that. It says, being assembled together, and
-
I read this last week for you, with them, he
-
commanded them not to depart from Jerusalem,
-
he's talking to the disciples, but to wait for
-
the promise of the Father, which he said, you've
-
heard from me, for John truly baptized with water,
-
but you shall be baptized with the Holy Spirit,
-
not many days from now. Therefore, when he had
-
come together, they asked him, saying, Lord,
-
will you at this time restore the kingdom to
-
Israel? He said to them, it's not for you to
-
know the times or the season, what the Father
-
has put in his own authority, but you shall receive
-
power. Say power. Power. When the Holy Spirit
-
has come upon you. Come on, say that like you
-
mean it. Power. Come on, get it down deep. There
-
it is, all right. Use some deep voice, right?
-
But you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit
-
has come upon you and you shall be my witnesses
-
to me in Jerusalem, in all Judea and Samaria
-
and to the ends of the earth. At the genesis
-
of the church, as Jesus completes the work of
-
salvation that the Father sent him to do, in
-
Jesus' final words to his disciples, right before
-
he would leave them, he said, you shall receive
-
power. power when the Holy Spirit comes upon
-
you and you'll be my witnesses, right? You'll
-
witness of me. One of the complimenting benefits
-
of Holy Spirit is God's power in my life. Holy
-
Spirit is sent. to empower the God -sized vision
-
and dream in your life. Holy Spirit was sent
-
to empower the believer in your walk and in your
-
talk. One of the reasons, right, the Holy Spirit
-
is sent to reside inside of you is so that the
-
power dwells with you. One of the reasons, right,
-
that Jesus said, I will baptize you, I will immerse
-
you in Holy Spirit so that the power of God is
-
at work in me, in me. Now, listen, church, it
-
has become abundantly clear to me over the years
-
that I have very little power on my own to change
-
anything. Actually, that my power just on my
-
own power is ridiculously limited in so many
-
ways. Physically. Limited, right? We were working
-
on a roof this weekend. How many know it was
-
hot this weekend? We were working on a roof this
-
weekend, and at the end of the day, I felt like
-
a wrung -out dishrag, man. I felt powerless,
-
you know, physically. I know that it's just that
-
God gives me some power, but it's limited, right?
-
Mentally, how many times have I felt mentally
-
exhausted at the end of the day? Emotionally,
-
socially, financially, relationally. How many
-
of you have ever felt powerless in a relationship?
-
You want the other person to change. You want
-
something to shift, and you try everything in
-
your power, and nothing turns. Nothing changes,
-
right? Because you can't change the person that's
-
sitting beside you. Only God can, and only if
-
they yield to him. Or maybe powerless in a social
-
setting. I've watched crowds of people lose their
-
minds, right? Get violent, begin to smash things.
-
It could be financially. You might be limited
-
financially. One of my teenage kids, when my
-
kids were teenagers, they're all adults now,
-
but when they were teenagers, one of them used
-
to say, Dad, I'm broke as a joke. That's what
-
they'd say. I'm broke as a joke. I don't really
-
know what that meant, but I knew it was pretty
-
broke, all right, because they were coming to
-
get money. I was broke as a joke. You might be
-
financially, you might be broke as a joke right
-
now. You might be thinking, I'm so powerless
-
right now. Sometimes we're powerless spiritually.
-
We feel so low. We feel so inadequate. We feel
-
like the enemy's running rip shot over top of
-
us. We need power that I do not possess to overcome
-
what I face in the world. You need power that
-
you do not possess within you to overcome what's
-
in the world. Significant power, life -changing
-
power, power that is not sourced from me. Because
-
I don't have the goods. I really don't. It's
-
why Jesus said, but you shall receive power.
-
He told this to his disciples, the ones he trained.
-
When the Holy Spirit has come upon you, you shall
-
receive power. One of the complementing benefits
-
of the Holy Spirit is power to live. It is power
-
to overcome. And more of him and less of me.
-
That's how it works in the kingdom of God. I
-
don't know if you ever realized, the world will
-
tell you the complete opposite. Reward of you,
-
go find yourself, all those kind of things. But
-
I found out that the less of me and the more
-
of him, the better things go, the more power
-
I've got at work in my life. It's true. It's
-
true because I am powerless. I'm powerless compared
-
to him. I really am. If you put God and I side
-
by side and you had to give us a rating of power,
-
mine wouldn't even hit the charts. I'm one horsepower.
-
He's a jet engine right on turbo charge. No horsepower
-
here. I need him. I need him. Do you need the
-
power of God in your life? I do. I do. Why would
-
I not want? God's power at work in my life. Why
-
would I not want to be immersed and baptized
-
in the one he sent to empower me? Why would I
-
not want to live and grab a hold of all that
-
God's given me to overcome? I don't know what
-
power you're tapping into or what power you're
-
trying to tap into. Maybe you're coming up empty,
-
right? Maybe you tried all the self -help stuff.
-
Maybe it's some lesser power that you grabbed
-
a hold of that's out there in the world. Maybe
-
you're trying to get the force to be with you,
-
right? Star Wars person of some kind. I'm telling
-
you, God sent the Holy Spirit, and he has unlimited
-
power to empower your life and to move you forward.
-
It's true. Last complimenting empowerment. I'll
-
give you another one. It's in Acts. It says that
-
the Holy Spirit adds this, again, to our God
-
-side vision and dream. And we see this, to get
-
you a picture of what I'm going to talk about
-
here, this empowerment for the visions and dreams
-
in your life that God places. You've got to take
-
a look at the disciples. Pre -Holy Spirit baptism
-
and then post -Holy Spirit baptism. Pre -Pentecost.
-
Post -Pentecost. So I'm going to take you to
-
Acts 2, verse 1. I told you we were jumping around
-
today. Right? And the day of the Pentecost, when
-
the day of Pentecost had fully come, they were
-
all in one accord in one place, and suddenly
-
there came a sound from heaven as a mighty rushing
-
wind, and it filled the whole house where they
-
were sitting. Then there appeared to them divided
-
tongues as of fire, and one sat upon each of
-
them, and they were filled with the Holy Spirit
-
and began to speak with other tongues as the
-
Spirit gave them utterance. And they were dwelling
-
in Jerusalem, Jews, devout men from every nation
-
under heaven. And when this sound occurred, the
-
multitude came together and were confused because
-
everyone heard them speak his own language. And
-
they were all amazed and marveled, saying to
-
one another, Look, are not all these who speak
-
Galileans? How is it we hear each one in our
-
own language, in which we were born, Parthians
-
and Medes and Alamites, those dwelling in Mesopotamia
-
and Judea and Cappadocia and Pontus and in Asia?
-
Pergamon and Pamphylia, Egypt and parts of Libya
-
adjoining to Cyrene, visitors from Rome, both
-
Jews and proselytes, Cretans and Arabs. We hear
-
them speak in our own language the wonderful
-
works of God. So they were all amazed and perplexed,
-
saying to one another, whatever could this mean?
-
When Pentecost takes place, the 120 believers
-
that are in the upper room waiting for the promise
-
for the baptism of the Holy Spirit, when it takes
-
place, they go out into the streets and they
-
boldly begin to proclaim Jesus Christ. Pre -baptism
-
of the Holy Spirit, these same disciples were
-
hiding out. They weren't speaking in the streets.
-
And if you read on, Acts 2 .13 says, others mockingly
-
said their full new wine. How many know somebody's
-
always going to mock the work of God? But 14
-
says, but Peter's standing up. Peter, standing
-
up. Peter's the same guy who previously did this,
-
not too many days before this, denied even knowing
-
Jesus. When Jesus was being arrested, Peter's
-
the guy that three times before the roaster crowed,
-
right, denies that he even knows Jesus. He curses
-
and pretends he doesn't even know Christ. He
-
goes and runs off. He hides. This is the same
-
guy. And it says Peter standing up with the 11,
-
right, raised his voice and said to them, there's
-
a crowd around. He's preaching to thousands of
-
people, men of Judea and all who dwell in Jerusalem.
-
He's preaching the same place that he was hiding
-
out previously, the same place that Jesus gets
-
crucified, the same place that he was worried
-
about the Roman leaders and the religious leaders
-
who crucified Christ, crucifying him. That's
-
why he was hiding out, is now in the streets
-
boldly proclaiming Christ. And he says, for these
-
are not drunk as you suppose, since it is only
-
the third hour day, but this is what happened,
-
which was spoken by the prophet. Joel. Peter.
-
Preaching in the streets. Holy Spirit baptism
-
embolds us in the God -sized vision and dream.
-
It makes us bold for the witness. It makes us
-
walk into life boldly in whatever God has placed
-
before us. We go with an emboldened vision and
-
an emboldened dream and passion in our hearts.
-
It's one of the complimenting effects of the
-
Holy Spirit is to remove the fear in our lives,
-
right? And embolden us in him. Now, I got to
-
clarify something here because the Holy Spirit
-
boldness in our life is not arrogance in my life.
-
Amen. I need to clear that up because sometimes
-
people take boldness and they mix it with arrogance.
-
I don't care what you wrap arrogance in, it's
-
a sin. You can try to wrap it in anything, even
-
if it sounds spiritual, it's sin. That's not
-
what I'm talking about. I'm not talking about
-
spiritual arrogance. I'm talking about boldness,
-
right? And boldness, arrogance is self -confidence
-
on steroids. Boldness is confidence in Christ
-
on steroids. It's a whole different thing. And
-
I heard somebody use this term and I like it.
-
So I use it. I kind of stole it from him. It
-
plagiarized, borrowed, whatever you want to call
-
it. All right. But I heard this thing. You know,
-
if you want to understand boldness in Christ,
-
it is not self -confidence. It is Godfidence.
-
It is God -fidence. That's what makes you bold
-
in Christ. It's not that I'm self -confident.
-
It is that I have God -fidence. I got confidence
-
in God. I got confidence in the Holy Spirit.
-
I got confidence in His power. My reliance is
-
on the one who cannot fail, not on the one who
-
fails regularly, right? It's all in with Him.
-
Boldness, confidence. It's one of the residual
-
effects of Holy Spirit filling my life. Peter
-
hopped up and began to preach fearlessly. Thousands
-
of people listening had no idea how they were
-
going to react, had no idea if he was going to
-
get arrested, had no idea if they would do to
-
him the same as they did to Jesus Christ, and
-
he did not care. He came out boldly and began
-
to preach. And that didn't happen because he
-
sat off to the side somewhere after he failed
-
and did deep, introspective work in his life.
-
That's not what happened. It was after he was
-
filled with the Spirit. There's a boldness that
-
comes. It comes. I'll never forget. Way back
-
when I was a youth pastor, I refer to that about
-
to 100 years ago because that's what it seems
-
how long ago it was. But I remember when I was
-
doing youth pastor work, I remember getting a
-
call from a pastor of another church. And he
-
called me up and he said, hey, I know you're
-
heading on this youth trip. You're going to take
-
a bunch of teenagers. You're going to this youth
-
conference. I said, yeah, I am. And he said,
-
could you take a couple more? I got a couple
-
of kids from my church and, you know, they want
-
to go. And I'm like, sure. Because back then
-
I'd be like, yeah, I'll do anything. So I said,
-
sure. So these kids show up. There's like four
-
of them. And three of them get out of the car.
-
And then this one kid gets out of the car. He's
-
got a cigarette tucked behind his ear right here.
-
He's got a cigarette tucked. He's wearing punk
-
clothes. And I'm like, oh, man, it's going to
-
be a long weekend. He gets on the van. And I'm
-
like, oh, this is going to be a long weekend.
-
That person came with all the attitudes. You
-
could stuff in the clothes that they were wearing.
-
And, you know, you could tell they didn't want
-
to be there. Somebody made them go on this trip.
-
You know, they challenged me at every turn. Every
-
time I'd say do this, they wanted to do something
-
else. There was this kind of thing that was going
-
back and forth. They'd be getting church, right?
-
We'd have church service. They'd just cross their
-
arms. Right, and sit in this seat and just like,
-
go ahead, try to make me move. It was kind of
-
the whole thing, the whole vibe. And I remember
-
the whole weekend, this kid, you know, just with
-
this. and attitude the whole way. And it wasn't
-
until the van ride home, I'd like to say something
-
happened amazing in one of the services, and
-
they broke down. It didn't happen that way. It
-
wasn't until the van ride home that I finally
-
got a chance to talk with this kid, this long
-
van ride, and they opened up. They finally began
-
to break down. The walls began to break down,
-
and I got into this conversation, and I'll never
-
forget what they said. Because they went and
-
watched a bunch of teenagers worship God and
-
connect with God. I remember this kid sitting
-
in the seat and looking me in the eye and he
-
said, they were honest as can be, they said,
-
I have never seen so many teenagers with no fear
-
in their eyes. Never seen anything like it. This
-
kid who had no experience with God, no experience
-
with the Holy Spirit, he said, I've never seen
-
anybody, I've never seen it. No fear in their
-
eyes. It's because God was moving. that weekend.
-
And these kids were pressing in to Holy Spirit
-
and all that God had for them. And there was
-
this boldness that came, not arrogance, but boldness,
-
the love of God, the peace of God, boldly in
-
their lives. And it blew this kid away. They
-
didn't know what they were looking at. They couldn't
-
get their head around it. And I saw the wall
-
begin to come down. As we journey through the
-
book of Acts, you're going to be blown away by
-
God's power. and boldness and what God accomplishes.
-
Worship team, if you'd come. Just a few weeks
-
ago, we got the opportunity and the privilege,
-
honestly, to go to Guatemala, to Casa Shalom
-
Orphanage. And there, as a short -term missions
-
team, just one week being there in that country,
-
we got the opportunity just to minister and do
-
some small slice in the kingdom, right? To be
-
part of a dream, actually. be part of a vision.
-
We have a team right now that's currently, this
-
weekend, is in Tangier Island, and they are down
-
there working as well. But I'm here to tell you,
-
it is the Holy Spirit who emboldens you, who
-
empowers you, who raises you up. It's the one
-
that God sent. And I want you just to hear and
-
see a little bit, if you turn your attention
-
to the screens, and then we're going to talk
-
about your vision and your dream. What if losing
-
your family wasn't the end of your story? At
-
Casa Shalom in Guatemala, children who have experienced
-
loss, hardship and uncertainty are finding something
-
many never thought possible. A home, a family
-
and the hope of Jesus. For 40 years, Casa Shalom
-
has provided a safe place for children to grow,
-
learn, heal and discover God's love. Every meal
-
served. Every lesson taught, every prayer offered
-
is helping shape a new future for these children.
-
But like many ministries around the world, there
-
are real needs. This year, one of the greatest
-
needs was replacing a roof that helps provide
-
safety and shelter for the children who call
-
Casa Shalom home. Through the generosity of our
-
church family, the funds were raised to make
-
this project possible. Then our team traveled
-
to Guatemala to help bring it to life. Together,
-
we weren't just building a roof. We were investing
-
in the lives of children and in the future of
-
this ministry. One of the ways I saw God move
-
was through the unity of our team, each person
-
using their gifts to serve. While the courage,
-
love, and faith of the Casa Shalom community
-
challenged me to see God's calling in a whole
-
new way. While on our project with the roof,
-
I got to experience God's protecting hand in
-
a way I'll never forget. But I am very grateful
-
on how faithfully he watched over not only me,
-
but over our team as well. Even though heavy
-
rain was in the forecast, God gave us exactly
-
the time we needed each day to work on the roof,
-
holding back the rain during the most critical
-
moments and reminding us that he was faithfully
-
providing every step of the way. It's easy to
-
believe the lie that what we have to offer is
-
small and doesn't really matter. But during our
-
mission trips to Casa Shalom, I've seen firsthand
-
the impact each person can have. Each year, God
-
doesn't assemble a random team. He brings together
-
the right team for the work he's called us to.
-
And each person's role reveals itself along the
-
way. One of the things that impacted me the most
-
on the trip was the unity of our team. Spending
-
a week serving alongside people who love Jesus
-
and were united by the same mission deepens my
-
relationship, strengthens my faith, and reminds
-
me of the beauty of the church. Well, another
-
roof is complete, but the story isn't over. Casa
-
Shalom continues to provide hope, healing, and
-
a future for the children every single day. And
-
as a church, we invite you to partner through
-
prayer, generosity, and a future mission opportunity.
-
Because when we say yes to God's call, lives
-
are changed, both theirs and ours. God will give
-
you a dream. He'll give you a vision. He'll give
-
you an opportunity to be part of somebody else's
-
dream and somebody else's vision. When we go
-
on these missions works, we're part of a different
-
vision that's taking place, a different dream.
-
Part of the body of Christ, part of all over
-
all what God's doing. And God empowers us by
-
the Holy Spirit to go do these things. There's
-
a... deepening that comes. There's a power that
-
comes when we are immersed in God's spirit so
-
that we can go do what we normally cannot do.
-
We all went this year and we weren't a bunch
-
of roofers, I can tell you that, but we got it
-
on as a team. And those who went will tell you,
-
God equips, he helps you. And I'm going to ask
-
you to stand this morning. He's doing this very
-
thing with those who are currently in Tangier.
-
on Tangier Island serving this morning. I'm sure
-
in a place of worship at this very same time.
-
But God said in Acts, Jesus said in 217, it shall
-
come to pass in the last days, says God, that
-
I will pour my spirit on an all flesh. Your sons
-
and your daughters shall prophesy. Your young
-
men will see visions and your old men will dream
-
dreams. And on my men servants and on my maid
-
servants, I will pour out my spirit in those
-
days. and they shall prophesy. We believe in
-
the power of the Holy Spirit. God sent Him. Jesus
-
sent Him to us. And if you have a desire to be
-
full, to be immersed, to be baptized in His Spirit,
-
to further serve God, We wanna give you that
-
opportunity. We have the prayer team over here.
-
They're poised and ready to pray with you if
-
you want to. As they go into this last song,
-
you can just slide over there. They'll pray with
-
you. They'll begin to, all the prayer team members,
-
I'm gonna slip around there and I'll pray with
-
you as well if you want to. But we. I want you
-
to have vision. I want you to have a dream. I
-
want you to see what God has for your life. And
-
not only just to step through, but to thrive
-
and to move to what God is speaking in your spirit.
-
And that might be a dream or a vision that he
-
gives you individually to start. That might be
-
joining in on a dream or a vision. I believe
-
we're all part of that here at LifeHouse. a dream
-
and a vision to see God move in our lives, to
-
become biblically healthy, to see people come
-
to Jesus Christ. So with your heads bowed and
-
your eyes closed at this moment, I'm going to
-
ask you, do you desire the power of God in a
-
greater way in your life? Do you want God to
-
move and speak in and through you in ways that
-
you've never experienced before? Do you want
-
immersed? in the presence of the Holy Spirit.
-
It is something that we can continue to do, but
-
there is a separate experience. Holy Spirit comes
-
to dwell in us at salvation, but there was a
-
separate experience. The disciples were given
-
that separate experience. God gives that still
-
today. This is the last days. He said, I will
-
pour my spirit out on all flesh. You're all flesh.
-
So if that's you, don't talk yourself out of
-
this. Don't try to, you know, I'll do this another
-
time. I want you to do something this morning.
-
When they begin to play and sing, when they begin
-
to worship, I want you to make your way over
-
to the prayer team. I want you to slide over
-
there. You may have another need as well. If
-
you want to know more about the baptism of the
-
Holy Spirit, as your eyes are closed and your
-
head's bowed, I got something. I got a gift for
-
you. I got something that will be a minor investment
-
for you, a $5 investment that will change your
-
heart. You might say, I don't know that much
-
about the baptism of the Holy Spirit. If you
-
want to know more, I'll give you something that'll
-
make it so clear if you engage and read. But
-
we want to pray with you. But if you're ready
-
this morning, we want to pray that you're going
-
to receive. So Father, I thank you, God, for
-
each one in the house. Lord, as you prepare hearts
-
and minds, God, for those, God, who want more
-
power in you. God, they want more confidence
-
than they've ever had in their lives. God, they
-
want to know the dream or the vision. God, maybe
-
you've spoken the dream or vision. And Lord,
-
they need clarification. Maybe they just need
-
prayer this morning. God, I pray that you give
-
them a heart to move, God, so that they can be
-
ministered to. And Lord, we ask this in Jesus'
-
name. And amen. Visit our website at www .lifehousecog
