Staying with it until I get it - Bro Samuel Howell 3-27-2024

Man ain't gonna. Certainly glad for our pastor. There's a wonderful thing to

have him back. Certainly didn't miss him. Love to hear my pastor preach.

I want to certainly much more rather hear him preach. But he asked

me to be ready and more definitely laid something of my heart. And I

don't take it lightning. This is a very serious thing here, and I'm

thankful for the opportunity to preaching my pastor's cool good I battled with this.

This will probably the hardest I've ever battled for a sermon. I wasn't seeking

confirmation. I just wanted to preach exactly what it was that God had given

a I didn't want to preach something that I thought need to be preached.

And uh, Sister Hal got up here and sing that song the heart of

the Battle, the suit of the victory, and it said, keep pressing

on the verde strong, and if y'all having to buy was term of me

to Second King's chapter two. And this is the first time ever that I've

decided to read fourteen verses so fast to gotten here. Even when I was

studying, I was like, man, I've never read this many verses.

I don't know what's going on, but uh, so y'all marry with us,

All right, if you have it, you man. And it came

to pass that when the Lord would take up Elijah unto the heaven by a

WorldWind, that Elijah went with Elisha from Gilgel. And Elijah said, unto

Elisha, terry, here I pray thee, for the Lord has sent for

me to Bethel. And Elijah said, unto him, as the Lord liveth,

and as our soul liveth, I will not leave thee. So they

went down to Bethel, and the prophets of uh and the prophets that were

at Bethel came forth to Elisha. There we go, folks, that's you.

Said, came forth to Elisha and said, knowest thou that the Lord

will take away thou master from thy head today? And he said, yeah,

I know, Hold your peace. And Elijah said unto him, And

Elijah said, unto Elisha, terry, here I pray THEE, for the

Lord has sent me to Jericho. And he said, as the Lord liveth,

and as thy soul liveth, I will not leave Thee. So they

came to Jericho, and the sons of the prophet that were at Jericho came

to Elisha and said, unto him, knowest thou that the Lord will take

away thy master from thy head today? And he answered, yay, I

know it, But hold your peace. And Elijah said unto him, terry,

I pray THEE, for the Lord has sent me to Jordan. And

he said, as the Lord liveth, and as thy soul liveth, I

will not leave thee. And the two went on, and the fifty of

the sons of the prophets that went and stood viewed Afar off, and they

two stood by Jordan, and Elijah took up his man and wrapped it together

and smoked the waters. And they divided hither and thither, so that they

too went over on dry ground. And it came to pass it when they

were going over that Elijah said up to Elisha, asked what I shall do

for THEE before I be taken away? And Elijah said, I pray they

let a double portion of thy spirit be upon me. And he said,

thou hast asked an hard thing. Nevertheless, if thou see me when I

am taken from thee, it shall be unto thee. But if not,

it shall not be so. And it came to pass that they still went

on and talked, and behold there appeared chariots of fire, horses of fire,

and parted them asunder. And Elijah went up by a world wind.

And Elijah saw it, and Elijah cried, my father, my father,

charots of Israel, and the horsemen thereof. And he saw him no more.

And he took hold of his own clothes and wrint them and two pieces.

And he took up also the manner of Elijah that fell from him.

And he went back and stood by the bank of Jordan, and the mantle

that took that he and the mantle, and he took the man of Elijah

that fell from him, and smote the waters, and said, where is

the Lord, God of Elijah. And when he also had smith the waters,

they parted hither and thither, and Elisha went over. Don't pray with

us here, Heavenly Father, he asked, you would please be with us,

Lord God. I need you in a speciful way. When I asked

you, when I plead the girl there wanting of God, Oh my Lord,

I need you, Lord more than ever before. Lord, I want

to be able to do your work. Lord God, I asked gonna be

giving to you all the glory and all the praise. Lord God. I

need the going to to only say what you would happy to say. Lord,

Nothing for nothing less Lord, only what you would have saved. Lord,

take our hearts to our minds, Lord Jesus, thing with pray.

A man and a man who all here is thankful for the Elija that we

have. Certainly Pastor is a good example of Elijah. Pastor is definitely one

of the men, one of whom's the Manto is highly desired after by the

preachers here at Batho. All of us would love to care as the man

of the pastor. And I'm talking about it and saying about the man is

the annoying that he has. I'm not talking about pastors. I don't want

no part of that. I'll leave that to the professional. But Pastor has

an annoyty so strong that all of us we desire that to have that relationship

that he has with God and to be able to get a hold of God

and the man that he does. I always whenever a pastor of praise for

something, it always comes into fruition without a problem, well without problem,

but a lot of prayer and fasting. He got there by that way,

and we're just thankful for him. Or Elasha was the same way about Elijah,

and he had a desire to be the man of God that was.

And in the first chapter in the book of this Bible, Elijah called down

fire from heaven and consumed the captain in the fifties that were coming at the

king and sent unto Elijah. The king was sick on his bed, and

he went and started asking of a God that wasn't even real. And Elijah,

the fire of God got stirred in him, and they come after him,

and he knew that they were coming, but the Angel of the Lord

for warned him, and he was able to call down fire from heaven.

And we see where it led. We've read here where the prophets kept saying

to Elijah, they said, have you heard that your man of God will

be leaving you today? They kept coming to him constantly and bombarding with the

woes, saying have you heard this? Have you heard that? But Elijah

constantly kept saying, I know, hold your peace, leave me alone.

I know what I'm after. I know what I gotta get, and he

began to keep on pressing. He kept traveling on with Elijah because he knew

there was something that Elijah had that he had to get a hold of him.

And those that come around him, they still were a little bit jealous

because they knew that this man was the right hand man of God to the

man of God. They had the spirit that Elijah had it, but Eliza

knew that he had to have more than what he had already. That's why

would they begin to come up to him and say, you need to stay

here? Did he just stay back? They didn't go ahead and go on

and leave without you. You need to go ahead start the grieving process.

But Elisa knew that he had to be there whenever he was taken away,

because he had to receive something that the Lord had didn that the Lord hadn't

lied for him. God, God will help the Lord. I'm gonna preach

y'all staying with it until I get it. That's something Elijah. Elijah definitely

showed all those peoples in those prophets. These they were supposed to be the

man of God. They would it was. My mom was certain that they

were a little bit jealous that Elisha was chosen by Elijah. Now Elijah,

Elisha already knew what it was like to wear the man of Elijah. Whenever

he was blowing in the field Elisha casting upon him. He already knew what

it was. That's why he had a hunger for it. That's why he

had a desire to be more like Elijah. That body said, I need

a cougg on a portion about that man of God had. That's why he

got to stay with him. That why I support the Man of God.

You need to get behind your man of God and support him. There's a

lot of people that whenever this man wants to go on without us, they

would come around here saying, you need to come on the way. He's

gonna sick man, go ahead and move along. But no, you need

to stay right here. Mister Willer counted everyone right here started going the church

out and and go to Oh the one that God has take character and if

he want to receive other blessing that God I given you by behind, I

be behind the Man of God and Elijah that we have a lot of this

responts every single time was hold your peace, other words, be quiet,

I know what I'm doing and go where I'm going. I got no reason

that I'm following this man of God so closely. There's something I gotta have.

There's more than I need. I need more each and every day.

I beg God all the time. God, just give me a postion of

of what the annoyed did my pastor have. He is and Elijah and Jesus.

There is no doubt about it in my mind that this man is a

man of God. I see God tell him things, and he knew about

me that nobody said, know about it. You can't tell me I am

a man of God. You can't tell me. I'm telling you that,

Elijah, if there's never been a lives you in this day and age,

didn't you see there Elasha. Elijah was even telling Elisha's terry here. But

I think Elijah was testing to see how bad he wanted it. God,

I test you. He might say, Okay, I'll leave him alone,

But he's wanting you to follow. God moves over here. He's wanting you

to come over here. You have to keep all pressing, You have to

keep on traveling. You have to keep on going with the man of God.

I said, no matter where he goes no matter down the road,

he needs you. You have to keep on pressing. Elisha was determined to

get the thing that he was after. And finally Elijah said what he's been

waiting for him to say, Tell me, I pray thee what you would

have me to do for you? Tell me what it is that you're wanting.

I can tell you got something stuck in your mind. You have more

of a craving than what you've got. Tell me what it is that you

won't tell me what it is that you have need of Elia. And Elijah

said, I want a double portion of what you got, that relationship you

have with God. I won't double of that. And the why that because

you wanted to outdo Elijah. It was because he knew that what it was

gonna take to keep him whenever the world began to come in and people began

to mock him and hey on need to He knew he needed to have the

spirit of Elijah, but he needed double That way he would stain the right

mind. That way he would continue to keep on pressing. He was asking

Elijah so that he could do that which he's so desired of. And Elijah

had such a connection with God, he was able to say, if you

see me, it will be granted to you. If you're there to witness

it to me. You're there witnessing me, it will be granted to you.

As I said, Elisha wasn't asking in the wrong spirit or for bad

motives. He was asking. That's why he received it, because he's asking

with the right spirit and the right motives. Whenever you asked of something for

God, don't ask. Though you could be the next best thing to God.

Don't have to that you can hold authority over other people, because it's

question need. Because this what will get you that heaven, because it is

what you need terribly in order to make seven year old right here. From

that point on, once Elisha told him, you have to be with me

to witness me leaving in order to get your blessings. In verse eleven,

Elijah Elisha was so close to Elijah Elijah that they had to be parted.

They had to be parted. Now, I'm not talking you how to be

physically smothering a man of God. You gotta have his back spiritually. You

gotta be with e spiritually, so closing that when he is carried away hand

you might catch a little bit of annot and from him spiritually. Butever he's

standing in that poolpit and spewing out holding old power. You gotta be with

him. That way you can to get caught up in the world man.

That way you to be able to feel the power of God from that putt

on. Once he told him, if you will be with me, it

shall be granted to you. Elisha determine that he wasn't going to miss the

taking away of Elijah, no matter what got in his way, no matter

anything that come up, no matter who told him to stay back. He

knew he had to be there to witness the taken away of Elisha Asha even

more of the power of God, to be the man of God that he

admired to be. I admire this man of God. I think I can

speak for all the men of Bethel Hoes Church that there's ever been an Elijah

this day in age. It is our pastor. Elisha had a desire.

You gotta make sure you have the right desired. You gotta make sure you

have the right motives. The difference between Elisha and some of us is we

give up easily whenever whenever people say, terry away, come back over here.

Give it a little bit of time. We're the first one to do

that, because that's the day and age we live in where everybody just gives

up. Seemingly everybody in this world they don't want to fight for nothing.

They think everything should just be handed to them free accord. But you won't

appreciate it as much as you should if you it was handed to you.

If you fight for something, you're gonna hold off to it boom where you're

gonna be able to say, this is mine, looks stop fault for the

answer always through the game of hell for the fastivity thinking, turn it losing,

he t what may no matter who comes to then you need to tell

it here, need to broking alone. He could be taken away. But

if you fight for, if you break for, if you go with the

man of God, you will received. Now no doubt, Elijah was grieving

whenever he lost Alisha. That's why he cried out. My father. My

father Elijah took Elisha whenever he was a young man. This man was a

father figure to him. This man grew to love him. This man taught

him everything he needed to know. He taught him how to pray, He

taught him how to seek God. But it was kind of a crutch for

Elisha because Elijah always kind of got a hold of God, for Elijah always

there to work out all their problems. And that's when Elishah realized. He

was excited at the same time, and he's like, I got my portion,

but my father is daughter. Whenever you finally get the things of God,

you might feel a little bit of pain, but it's worth the blessing.

Our blessings are based on our determination. Elishah had a determination, and

because of his determination, he received a double portion. There'll be those that

are the bad spirits of the prophets, sayings, terry here, don't go

with Elijah, leave him thee let him go on his own. It's probably

not good for him to see you. It's probably best that you just stay

back here, right here, where you're at now. Elisha. Whenever he

did come back from Jordan, those same ones that told him your master's leaving

here, they wanted to watch see what happened. They stood off in a

distance and their view they saw the whole thing take place. Because as soon

as they got there across the Jordan, and then we're taken away. He's

grabbed the mantle, and he come back because the people were still standing there

watching him. They realized this man is now receives the mantle of Elijah.

And they sit there and put him trying to put a little fear in Eliza's

heart, and said, what if the spirit of God has carried him up

into a mountain. Elija knew what he saw, Elia knew what he saw.

He saw there physically tearing away, But they kept beating on him,

they kept hounding on him. We needed to go. We need to go,

Chack, we need to go. Make sure. It doesn't matter what

you think you saw or what they think they saw. You were there,

you witness, if you saw alive. You ain't taken away by a world

winner. It doesn't matter what they say. You call it ho true to

what you know. Believe what you believe. Get the pastor to know who

knows. They call him the world win, and you know he has an

I don't care what anyone says about my pastor. I know it's a bunch

of lives. They can buy on him all they want. I ain't saying

anybody is. But I've never seen a man that has a relationship with God.

I thought a Pastor loves this man has a perfect relationship with God.

In my opinion, he is a prophet of God, no doubt. I've

seen things come forth and him prophesy things and they come to pass. This

is an Elisha. Indeed, Hallelujah, because I'm staying with this man through

the thick of the thin until death parts us or whatever happens. He it's

called him a full time industry out to the miship Bield, whatever it is.

I'm just talking. I'm with this man until death. Won't let you

go, that Pastor, I ain't going nowhere. I don't care what anybody

says, because I know what what what kind of place I was in.

I know what kind of shape my family with me in had it not been

for this prophet, had it not been for my Elijah, I know what

I would be in if I'm sticking with this till I finally get ahold of

it the way he had the hold of it. No, I got God.

There ain't no doubt. I'm questioning my experience, but I want to

be like my Elijah. I'll have a desire to be like my Elijah.

I won't be annoyed that he has I won't the love of God. I

won't the relationship that day, he hasn't done. The Lord done. I

got one more places I go. Sometimes it don't in for me. There's

someone else that had to fight for something. They had to keep on pressing.

They had to stay with it until they got it. And it's found

out here in Genesis, chapter thirty two and verse twenty four, starting verse

twenty four, and Jacob was left alone, and they're wrestled with a man

until the breaking of day. And when he saw that he prevailed not against

him, he touched him in the hollow of his thigh, and Jacob's thigh

was out of joint. And as he wrestled with him, and he said,

let me go for the daybreakth and he said, I will not let

thee go except thou bless me. Doesn't that sound like Elisha? There he

had the same determination. He knew he had to get something in order for

his life to be spared. He knew he had to have a hold of

it. That's why he with the angel for as long as he did.

I still probably want to give up after a little while and realize I've been

here all night. I'm tired. I want to go home. I want

to go take back up with a family. Stick Man was alone with him.

Man, No, he didn't know, but he knew he had something.

He knew he had to get a hold of thumping. I got why

he stayed with him for as long as he did, because he knew that

this angel act something for him and he had to receive on it. Yeah,

he had to plain. He walked away with the limb, but at

the thighs of a blessing and swing and walked away with a little damp.

Still no goodn't will that to be blessed? And sid and at the pain

he walked the man of God, I funny knew he'd been blessed. You

have to stay with it until you get it. You can't come in just

that one sermon to be one to take to get it. Gotta stay with

him to set me starting the squat. Got your wi my, got your

mind. If you want to receive, it's gonna caust your little pain.

Sure you'll have to give up some bad habits, stub be in some pain,

but it's worth doing everything. Alyosha and Jacob knew what it was like

to the suffer some pain like I said a little while back, we're quipped

it easy to give up if it's causing a little bit of pain. The

natural thing that to pull back you for getting some hurt, you immediately pull

back. You try to keep the pain from continuing on. Put Elijah said,

it's worth the pain. Though there's a saying in this world saying no

pain, no gain. That's never been true. Or in this instance,

yeah, he was hurting. The man chip was out of joint, and

yet you had a dog in determination to receive from God. Ain't me I

got to have. My life has to be bad. I need the blessing

of God. God may lose something if I lose some friends, but you'll

gain something. All of us here have either fault or something, or we

traveled a long way to kick with the man of God. Some of y'all

move from places, but you've got the blessing. Sure you lost some memory,

seemingly that's where you built your life. But now you're in the blessings

of God. You received of God. Yeah you have a little pain,

but in it that worked. There put the power of God. That's a

building service. Put him on here. God Pastor had to sit under a

man of God as such as he pastor was told by many concerned his family.

I'll go down there, You'll lose it. Terry here, you'll lose

your children. You're gonna suffer the pang Terry here, come back. It's

not wise. Oh, how wrong they were, just like the prophets were

wrong. A lif knew they're long. I gotta go along. Our pastor

has said the same thing. People told me not to come down here.

They said, I lose my family. But how wrong are they? By

the grace of God and by the obedience of the Man of God, our

family is still together. We're still feeling the power of God. I thank

to our Lijja for people on printing. Thanks to inter being like the lie

I had to stay with it until I get away. To me, I

had to stay with till the others come over and they find out that it

can help you. Question, I'd like to ask, how bad do you

want it? How bad do you want it? Elisha and Jacob has showed

us how to receive of God, how to push through things, how to

push through temptation. What kind of temptation did Elisha go through when the prophets

were telling you just causetay back? And then he had his man that he's

traveled with for so long, Elive just saying tarry here. How is he

supposed to figure out if he actually did that or not? Elive s pastor

sometimes tests us to see how bad do we really want it. I'm thankful

for the testings. The testing has made us who we are. The pastor

and that he does there are no other pastors that do that. That is

a man of God. That is Elijah. Indeed, right there, he

shows you where to go, and he tells you if you stick with me

until you get it, you might suffer a little bit of pain, but

I promise you'll be worth it. Elijah knew it would be worth it for

Elisha if he's takem in it. What he wanted to see, just how

bad he really craved it, Just how bad he really wanted it. My

pastor preached to me several times. Let me every time it was a testing

of me. They say, you save some with fire. There's never been

a boy that had the fire God put underneath him. It was me.

Then I went to a face, why didn't feel nothing. It would have

been easy for me just to say, you know what, it isn't for

me. But I had to stay with it. I kept coming to church.

I kept coming. I kept coming because I knew there has to be

more. I need to have a You have to keep pressing. You have

to go through the pain. Why do you want it bad enough where you're

willing to suffer a little bit of pain? How bad do you want it?

A lot of day alive that they wanted it terrible, come and day

they still put up a fight. They were weak, but they still put

up a fight. God saw that they were willing to fight for what they

wanted, and that's when he began to bless them. If there's anyone who

would like to come and pray, come, don't wait any longer. Stay
