Samuel Howells Miracle

Hey, everybody. I was recently approached by some wonderful Pentecostal and holdliness people,
-
people of light, precious faith such as you and I, people that
-
have a common denominator in our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, blood washed believers.
-
They were asking me about the subject of divine healing, and they asked
-
me to share with them the testimony of my son's Samuel Howells healing. Since
-
it has been about twenty years now, they wanted me to share with them
-
of that particular account of that miracle, and I was asked to share it
-
with others through the church's podcast here. I will never forget that August in
-
the year two thousand and four, our family stood silently in the aftermath of
-
the two thousand and four Florida hurricanes, easing. Some of you Florida Crackers
-
will remember that day very well. You'll remember that time very well, that
-
season very well, that particular year in two thousand and four, four deadly
-
hurricanes made landfall and ripped their way through South Florida. They went on up
-
into Central Florida. Three of them hammered Central Florida, where Sister Charity and
-
I lived at that time. I remember very well Hurricane Charlie. It entered
-
on the Gulf coast on August thirteenth. It was a compact storm, but
-
it had hurricane force wind gusts are passing one hundred miles per hour. As
-
if Charlie's initial blow wasn't enough, Hurricane Francis delivered a sweep through Florida.
-
A few weeks later. Francis concentrated on the east coast of Florida, but
-
she was less compact and stretched into our county. Hurricane having followed up with
-
a stab at Florida's panhandle, The results were devastating. After all their crippling
-
blows to US, Floridians learned that one more storm threatened US and loom nearby,
-
Hurricane Jean. She made landfall as a Category three hurricane on September twenty
-
fifth, and she refused to lighten up for the already wounded Sunshine State.
-
She howled and pounded Florida with maximum winds of one hundred and twenty miles per
-
hour. With the powerful destructive forces ever ceased from their persistent constant threatenings and
-
beatings. The meaning of the name Jean is God is gracious. We needed
-
the God who has his way in the world, when to be gracious to
-
us. The storm ceased. Finally, many have heard the statements to come
-
before the storm or the peace after the storm. After these storms, many
-
Floridians exceled a sigh of relief as they picked up trash and debris from their
-
yards. We were happy to be alive. There was a peace in the
-
neighborhood, in our community. There was such peace. As they fired up
-
chainsaws and set to cutting pass through the rubbish, people had smiles on their
-
faces. We were going to check on our friends and family members. But
-
for the Jeremy Howell family, another storm was brewing and loomed in the shadows.
-
Little did we know we would find it to be one of the biggest
-
storms we would ever go through. It threatened to take our son Samuel's life.
-
At the hurricane Jean finished plundering our home and yard, our family began
-
the recovery process, picking up the pieces. Literally, she tore off our
-
homes back door as easily as a child with terr up a piece of paper.
-
The huge live oak in front of our yard was laid down and its
-
limbs and foliage spread out covered the front lawn. As we were cleaning up
-
the debris, our three year old son, Samuel, toddled around. My
-
wife Charity, had opened the rear door of our older model SUVN. We
-
were using the back compartment floor as a work table. Samon mendered over there
-
and climbed up into the vehicle. I remember it well. At some point
-
he stumbled and tumbled toward the ground, not a long fall for the elastic
-
bones of a toddler, but something was stretched between him and the ground.
-
As he fell, he landed on the still hitch of our vehicle. I
-
saw it, rushed over to him. He turned pale as cotton and then
-
vomited hard. As I approached, he jumped up started to run off.
-
I stopped him and said, Samuel, are you okay, Yes, sir,
-
he replied. He ran off to play The two inch ball mounted to
-
the hitch beam had caught him in the stomach between his rip cages. He
-
appeared to be feeling fine. There were no signs of injury on his body.
-
Those little guys sure tough, I thought. Later. My family and
-
I rested in our little modest home. We were without power. That's difficult
-
on anyone especially a family of eight. The fireman busy in the community delivering
-
ice and other items to the storm victims. As I rested in my recliner,
-
Samuel came into the room where I was and said, Daddy, I
-
don't feel good. And as he said good, he vomited crimson red liquid.
-
I remember jumping out of my recliner and running to him. I had
-
remembered what had happened earlier. I thought he's very pale at this moment.
-
Yet again, I thought he needs a miracle. Charity heard the commotion and
-
stepped out of the kitchen and asked, what's wrong, Jeremy, I said,
-
Charity, he's bleeding internally. I think it's root beer. She said,
-
He's been so hot, and he's been drinking a lot. He may
-
have drank too much, she said, assuredly, hoping I was wrong.
-
Charity, it is blood. Look it is red. Look at his shirt.
-
I picked up my little boy, his close saturatable blood. I looked
-
into his big brown eyes. I could tell he felt bad, very bad,
-
and he didn't understand what was happening. He had no idea how close
-
he stood to death. He was literally at the end of the valley of
-
the shadow of Death. Standing at the threshold of Death's door for a moment,
-
our life halted. I felt dazed and dizzy. What are we going
-
to do? I wondered. Picking up the phone, I called my mother,
-
who lived nearby, just a couple miles down the road. When she
-
answered, I said, Mom, I need you to come to my house
-
now. Given no explanation of the emergency, I hung up the phone.
-
I told Charity that we were leaving for the hospital. She changed his blood
-
soiled clothes as we went off the door. It was then that we noticed
-
blood making its way out of the bottom too. Oh God, I cried
-
with him myself. I dove into the couch in our living room and buried
-
my head in a cushion and prayed for a few seconds, and screamed out
-
a muffled cry, Oh God, please help us. Sister Charity had changed
-
his clothes. My mother pulled up into our yard a few minutes after the
-
phone call ran out the door to our vehicle. Mom still didn't know what
-
was happening. Our other five children stood by her, each one wearing bewildered
-
expressions on their faces. When I got into our family vehicle to leave,
-
I noticed it didn't have enough fuel to make it to the nearest hospital,
-
an hour's drive away. It's not that I didn't have fuel in it to
-
go to town or to work, but not an hour away. We got
-
out, ran over to my company's pickup truck, got in, and started
-
on our way to the hospital. I placed a call to nine to one
-
one and told the dispatcher about my son and asked him to meet us somewhere
-
between our home and the hospital. We got down the road and our son
-
was becoming lethargic and swiftly fading. About four miles from our home, I
-
said to our little boy, Samuel, do you love Jesus? Are you
-
ready to meet Jesus? Yes, sir, he replied, this can't be
-
happening. My son is about to dine in his mother's arms. I thought.
-
I felt hope and faith in God muster somewhere in the depths of my
-
soul. Charity. If we have ever prayed and got hold of God,
-
we'd better do it now. I said, Let's pray. I rallied as
-
we drove north on highway State Road thirty seven. We prayed hard and fervently,
-
and it was very long. We prayed, and we sought the Lord.
-
But it wasn't very long until the Holy Ghost fell in our vehicle and
-
helped us pray. It was truly a wonderful time. It's truly a table
-
prepared for us. In the presence of our enemies, we found the most
-
wonderful peace in the midst of this violent storm. The comforter had come,
-
and he assured us that we were nestled securely in the hands of our Master,
-
Jesus Christ. We drove to the place where we were to meet the
-
ambulance. It had taken us twenty five to thirty minutes to get there.
-
When we got there, we noticed the parking lot was empty. This isn't
-
good, we said one to another. We looked around but didn't see the
-
ambulance anywhere. Still very concerned, I called the nine to one one dispatcher
-
and asked her if she knew where the am was. She sounded confused and
-
said, sir, they are on the scene. I informed her that there
-
must be a mistake that they were not on the scene. She asked if
-
I was sure. I said, I'm sure. I assured her that we
-
were alone and without any medical assistance. She called the paramedics and spoke with
-
them personally to find out their exact location, and they told her they were
-
with a toddler and was working with him. Somehow, the paramedics were intercepted
-
by a frantic mother who had weighed them down. Her child had swallowed some
-
poison and was in trouble. They thought they were with the mother and child.
-
They thought they were with us. I'm grateful that we have a God
-
who is on all scenes all the time. When nine one one fails you,
-
God will never fail you. Another seven minutes passed by. We stared
-
at the clock for what seemed like forever. I called the dispatcher again.
-
She assured me the amblets would be there soon. We saw it pulling in.
-
I told the dispatcher, thank you so much. The paramedics me in,
-
entered over to our vehicle and asked what was wrong. We told them
-
what happened to Samuel, and like most medical professionals, they seemed to doubt
-
the severity of our son's condition, perhaps because of the calm that had settled
-
on my wife and me. They took him and put him in the back
-
of the ambulance. One of the men tried to find his clipboard and then
-
asked me to sign paperwork. I looked at him and said, sir,
-
do you understand that my son is bleeding internally? And he replied, sir,
-
I don't think he is. I couldn't believe mine ears. I couldn't
-
believe what I was hearing. I told him that I had a cup full
-
of blood in my vehicle and that I could go get it and show it
-
to him. The paramedic who was working with Samuel interrupted and said, yes,
-
I want to see it, Go get it. I had something that
-
they needed to see, and I told them. I said I can pour
-
this out if you want me to, and he said, no, I
-
have something I can pour into it and if it's blood, but it will
-
begin to bubble a lot. If it's something else that will not react.
-
I went and got the cup. The skeptical emt poured the liquid into the
-
cup and immediately the liquid started bubbling. Their expressions turned grave. They pld
-
too, and their work became serious, very serious. One said to the
-
other, Yes, we need to be going to the hospital right now.
-
One of them said, as the other nodded in agreement. Hastily. They
-
gave my son an IV and began to closely monitor his vital signs. They
-
told Charity she could ride with our son Samuel, and they asked me to
-
follow behind. I followed them in my vehicle. They said, if you
-
hear the sirens come on, and see the lights turn on and our speed
-
pickup, please understand the situation is taking a turn for the worst. Already
-
the situation is dire. We don't need it to take a turn for the
-
worst, they said. We arrived at the Lakeland Regional Hospital in Lakeland,
-
Florida. The medical staff was very relieved to find that the bleeding had ceased.
-
The large emergency room's highly trained physicians ordered that he be transported to Saint
-
Joseph All Children's Hospital in Tampa, Florida. When we arrived at the Premier
-
Children's Hospital, we were taking to Samuel's room immediately. As we sat in
-
the hospital room, our minds raised, not knowing what would come next.
-
In the early morning hours, a man knocked on the door and quietly entered
-
the room. He spoke professionally and softly as he introduced himself. He said,
-
my name is doctor thyrou Arisu. I'm a pedia tract pediatric gastroologist.
-
He asked a few questions and then told us that he wanted to do tests
-
on Samuel. He explained us that there was a possibility that our son's heart
-
was leaking blood. An endoscopy was ordered a few hours later. Charity and
-
I took our little toddler into the procedure room and set him on the table.
-
The staff was great. One of the registered nurses asked Samuel if he
-
would like to wear a mask. Yes, he reluctantly replied, and as
-
our son grew drowsy, we teared up and we kissed him on the forehead
-
and walked out. Charity and I paced the hallways of the hospital. We
-
visited the gift shop and walked down to the cafeteria, trying to keep our
-
minds busy. Then we were paid to go to the procedure room post haste.
-
When we walked in, doctor Risu had a big smile on his face.
-
He asked us to look at the pictures with him. He explained us
-
that Samuel had been severely injured but was going to be okay. He pointed
-
at two lines on the picture and said, your son has two tears in
-
a stomach line and right up against his heart, but they are healed.
-
He had two tears in his stomach line and right up against his heart.
-
Glory to God, we said out loud. We praised our Lord as happy
-
tears streamed down our faces. We rejoiced and were thankful for God's healing power
-
and his divine protection. We still have those pictures to this day. In
-
fact, here it is twenty years later, and Sister how and I looked
-
at them just the other day. God's not dead, friends, He's still
-
alive. He's still saving, sanctifying, and filling with the Holy Ghost,
-
and he's still a healer. He saved, sanctifying, the Holy Ghost filled
-
all of our children save one, and the last one of six is seeking
-
the Holy Ghost presently. Concerning Brother Samuel, in February of twenty twenty three,
-
he was gloriously filled with the Holy Ghost and called to preach. No
-
doubt, God had a plan and a purpose for our little man's life.
-
I'm thankful that we could say he's still a healer. It was the first
-
of this year that God healed our son Philip, who had been stricken by
-
a very aggressive rare form of cancer. It was to take his life in
-
less than five years, but God healed him. There's a cure for cancer.
-
Back to our testimony of brother Samuel's healing. I remember a time when
-
doctor Arisu came back into our room to visit with us, and curiously,
-
he asked us to tell him again what happened to Samuel. We rehearsed at
-
all. He shook his head and said, I have been in this profession
-
for many years and haven't seen anything like this. I've dealt with a lot
-
of internal bleeding cases caused by gunshot wounds and vehicle accidents, and your son's
-
blood loss is equal to those. He needs blood transfusion, but I'm not
-
going to give him one because he's okay. We talked with a doctor for
-
a while, like we have been friends for years. He was professional,
-
cordial, pleasant, and amazed at what had happened. He gave Charity a
-
card, Nash Charity to call his office and make an appointment to see him
-
in a few weeks. The doctor left the room. We rejoiced and wept
-
that God had been so gracious to us. It came time for Samuel's follow
-
up ointment and we went to doctor Risou's office. When we arrived, Charity
-
went to the front desk and told the receptionist that she had an appointment with
-
doctor Ersou. Another physician standing nearby said to her, ma'am, I think
-
you are mistaken. No one sees doctor Arisou. They usually see one of
-
the doctors underneath him. Doctor Airsou walked around the corner because he remembered the
-
appointment he had scheduled for us. His face lit up when he knew Samuel
-
and Charity was there. He quickly made his way over to them and escorted
-
them to his private office. The other physicians, which were many, stood
-
in amazement. Little did we know that doctor Ersu was a renowned specialist and
-
high ranking doctor in the medical field who had medical practices located in Riverview,
-
Florida, Lakeland, Florida, Newport Richie, Florida, Sarasota, Florida,
-
Saint Petersburg, Florida, Clearwater, Florida, Bradson, Florida, brand And
-
Florida, Odessa, Florida. Charity and doctor Risou talked and rehearsed with all
-
that had happened, rehears what all had happened, and doctor Eyrisu told her
-
that he had heard the emergency call come into All Childrens from Lakeland Regional telling
-
of a toddler boy who was bleeding internally. Something about it got my attention,
-
he said. He told Charity that he didn't always personally respond to such
-
calls, but felt like he needed to this time. We're thankfully he did,
-
and we're thankful that the great physician Jesus was on call that night.
-
The two thin lines, the scars were undeniable, and the pictures. In
-
a time of prayer one night, I asked the Lord this question, what
-
meaneth the two scars? You can perfectly heal? Lord, what meaneth the
-
two scars? I heard a gentle and clear whisper speaking to my heart these
-
words. It's just like when I told Joshua what I have the children of
-
Israel. Stack the stones up in the river Jordan. It's a testimony,
-
a memorial. No skeptic can deny that the injury was there and that it
-
is healed. Hoelujah, you are facing serious health challenges. Rest assured knowing
-
that our God isn't dead, but he's still alive and in God's hands,
-
we are in best hands. And yes, he is still healing people today.
-
Praise the Lord God, Bless you all.
