Book of Joshua. Man direct her attention to the first chapter.
-
We will be reading versus number one through seven.
-
The Book of Joshua, chapter number one, reading Versus number
-
one through seven. Brother Nathaniel Exodus, chapter number four, Versus
-
numbers ten through twelve, and Brother Jesse Hebrews, chapter number
-
thirteen and verse number five. I've heard from several people
-
that are members of this congregation. There's about seventy five
-
of you here tonight, and also people on the outside.
-
They said, pastor, did you hear that one of the
-
preachers at the minister's conference this past week preached.
-
A message title watched the wolfs.
-
A lot of you reminded me that three and a
-
half years ago I preached that message, watch out for
-
the wolves. How many of you believe we better watch out.
-
For the wolves?
-
We better watch out for the wolves. They'll come in
-
and sheep's clothing, sure will. But praise be to Jesus.
-
Don't you feel God down.
-
In your soul to night? I sure do.
-
I'm glad you do too, all right, Brother Nathaniel, Exodus
-
chapter number four, reading verses number ten through twelve. Please,
-
my brother, and Moses said unto.
-
The Lord Oh, my Lord, I.
-
Am not eloquent, neither hereto ford nor since now I've
-
spoken under thy servant. But I am slow speech, and
-
I'm a slow tongue. And the Lord said, unto him
-
who hath made man's mouth, or who maketh the dog.
-
Or death, or the sea or the blind? And have
-
not I the Lord?
-
Now therefore go, when I will be with thy mouth
-
and teach thee what.
-
Thou shalt say? Amen. And further to that, how many
-
of you remember Moses said.
-
Lord, if you're not going to go with me, don't
-
even carry me up from you.
-
God, don't even send me. I need you to go
-
in person. Praise the Lord.
-
Brother Jesse Hebrews, chapter number thirteen and verse number on five.
-
Let your conversation be without coveteousness, and be content with
-
such things as ye have.
-
For he hath said, I will never leave thee nor
-
for safety.
-
Now he hath said, I will never leave thee nor
-
forsake thee of God who cannot lie. Praise the Lord.
-
Let's stand for the reading of our golden texts. Joshua
-
chapter number one, reading verses number one through seven. The
-
Bible says, now after the death of Moses, the servant
-
of the Lord. It came to pass that the Lord
-
spake unto Joshua, the son of knows none Moses's ministers, saying, Moses,
-
my servant is dead. Now therefore arise, Go over this Jordan,
-
thou and all this.
-
People, unto the land which I.
-
Do give to them, even to the children of Israel,
-
every place that the soul of your foot shall tread
-
upon that have I given upto you, as I said,
-
unto Moses, from the wilderness, and this Lebanon, even unto
-
the great river, the river Euphrates, all the land of
-
the Hittides, and unto the great sea towards the going
-
down of the Sun.
-
Shall be your coast.
-
There shall not any man be able to stand before
-
Thee all the days of thy life. As I was
-
with Moses, so I will be with THEE. I will
-
not fail THEE, nor forsave THEE. Notice this, be strong
-
and of a good courage, for under this people thou
-
shalt divide for an inheritance to land which I swear
-
unto their fathers to give them.
-
Only be thou strong and.
-
Very courageous, that thou mayst observe to do according to
-
all the law which Moses my servant commanded. Thee turn
-
not from it to the right hand or to the left,
-
that thou mayst prosper wheresoever thou goest look at in
-
verse number seven again, only be thou strong and very courageous.
-
Let's pray, Heavenly Father. We love and we praise you.
-
We thank you for the opportunity to be in your
-
house tonight. I prayed God that you would anoint this
-
thy servant, set a guard in my mouth, help me
-
to say the things that you would have me to say,
-
nothing more or less anaught the ears with this thy people,
-
that they might hear what the spirit of God says
-
under the church. We pray God that we would be
-
doers and not hearers. Only, Lord, I pray that you'd
-
help this people in a very special way.
-
We'll give you the praise and honor to glory in
-
Jesus's name. Amen. I'm gonna need brother Jesse.
-
And Brother Micah up here, if they will all our
-
prayers tonight, praise the Lord.
-
Come on up here, Hey.
-
Man, how many of you are glad to be in
-
the house of the Lord tonight.
-
Come on up here. Brother Jesse, and Brother Micah.
-
Hold this bag in your hand, Brother Jesse, looking again
-
at our golden text Joshua, chapter number one and verse
-
number seven, only be thou strong and very courageous. A
-
couple of weeks ago, I was in my prayer Clauset.
-
I was praying, and it felt as though I heard
-
the Holy Ghost whisper inside of my soul this phrase,
-
the source of courage is the assurance of His presence.
-
Look at your neighbor and say, hey, neighbor, the source
-
of courage is the assurance of His presence. Our text
-
has founded an Old Testament book of the Holy Bible,
-
the Book of Joshua. The title is the name of
-
a great leader and mighty man of valor. The Book
-
of Numbers tells us a little bit about how the
-
Lord felt about this very special man named Joshua. In
-
the twenty seventh chapter and the eighteenth verse of the
-
Book of Numbers, we read where the Man of God said,
-
take Joshua, the son of None, a man in whom
-
is the spirit, and lay thy hand upon him. Because
-
the Spirit of God was in this man, Joshua, he
-
was qualified to succeed Moses and lead others. Look at
-
your neighbor and say, hey, neighbor, does the spirit of
-
God recide in you?
-
Ask him that question again, hey, neighbor.
-
Does the spirit of God reside in?
-
You will appear receiving the assurance.
-
Of His presence tonight, and without a doubt, after this service.
-
You will be courageous. Why not? Joshua was spiritual leader.
-
Moses laid his hands on Joshua and spoke words of
-
encouragement to Joshua, and he receivedless words, and he walked
-
away from the presence of God, and Moses forever changed again.
-
Joshua was qualified.
-
To succeed Moses because the Bible said in whom is
-
the Spirit? In verse number twenty three of the Book
-
of Numbers, in the twenty seventh chapter, it says that
-
Moses laid his hands upon him and gave him charge
-
as the Lord commanded.
-
This tells me.
-
That Joshua was not MoMA called, nor was he Daddy said.
-
This man was a recipient of the succession of the
-
leadership of Moses, because God had selected him, and God
-
had commanded Moses to make it clear to everybody around
-
that Joshua was to be his successor. Now anyone who
-
knows anything about the relationship between Moses and Joshua, you
-
know that it was a wonderful relationship.
-
Not every marital relationship is.
-
A wonderful Not everybody marries according to the will of God.
-
That the minute they get married and say I do,
-
they did, and that marriage becomes the impeccable, perfect.
-
Will of God. God has joined them together. That marriage
-
is not to be put.
-
Asun there or put away or dissolved by any human
-
parsa whatsoever, No human pulsa can dissolve the binding contract.
-
Between that man and woman when.
-
They say, before God Almighty, I do again. Young people,
-
when you say I do, you did, and it will.
-
Be until death do you part.
-
And so we know that this was a very special
-
relationship between Moses and Joshua. It would not have been
-
second to the relationship shared.
-
By the apostle.
-
Paul then Timothy, nor would it have been second to
-
the relationship shared between King David and Jonathan.
-
We see a very.
-
Strong bond between the mentor and the willing students. The
-
Bible readers and students among us know that Joshua learned
-
what he knew about god stewardship and leadership from his
-
mentor Moses.
-
And surely Moses taught Joshua that meekness was not a weakness.
-
Knows of you that know your Bible, you know that
-
the Bible.
-
Said that Moses in his lifetime was the meekest man.
-
Upon the face of the earth. But when you.
-
Read of his noble and medi exploits, you can.
-
Tell that this man was not weak in.
-
Character at all, nor was he weaker in his natural
-
and physical body.
-
No, he was mighty meet Moses, was all said Mighty Moses.
-
And I'm sure as mentor Moses began to mold his successor,
-
that he takes some character risks that should be treasured
-
by the man of Joshua. There's no doubt he gave
-
him the characteristics of a leader or of a leadership.
-
And as he's studying the life of Joshua, you can
-
see that he must have developed his character according to
-
Moses's character. He must have developed conviction because of the conviction.
-
That Moses had. I'm sure his character.
-
And conviction was shaped by the great man of Moses.
-
There's something else that he learned from his leader, and
-
that was.
-
How to be courageous.
-
You see Joshua was a man of good character. Not
-
only was he a man of good character, he was
-
a man of deep conviction.
-
Not only was he.
-
A man of good character and deep conviction, he was
-
a man of great courage.
-
I know all this people in this building the night
-
who are.
-
Not as courageous as some of the others that have
-
gathered in this building.
-
You see Josua on the all start.
-
Of his ministry as just a general in the army
-
of Moses. So there is no doubt there was already
-
an elevator of currents coursing.
-
Through his veins, but that needed to increase. How many
-
of you know that the.
-
Righteous is supposed to be has owned as a lion.
-
It seems interesting in me that a man that has
-
fought so many battles and have so many victories under
-
his felt that would it come time for him to
-
lead the nation in Moses's stead, that Moses would have
-
to push him out there and say be strong.
-
I mean, a man that's used his.
-
Burial solna to execute the enemiesa of God that cats people.
-
Why would he needed be tear to be strong? He
-
calls this more to a pastor's life, to what meets
-
the eye.
-
There's a whole lot more that goes on in the
-
pastor or the leader's life than what people the real lives.
-
I remember a great preacher of yesteryear his preaching revival.
-
And he said, I trimble her.
-
I could thought of my mother passing because I know
-
that she prays for me on a daily basis.
-
He said, I am a target and a lorded man,
-
not only by her.
-
The enemies of God, that by the enemies of God's plum,
-
they are after me. It wasn't long up to the
-
death of his mother than this man's ministry piseled out
-
for the most part. I'm telling somebody here tonight into
-
a contemplating them to considering pastoral ministry.
-
You better make sure it's he thought more than a
-
battle her here or.
-
There a time or two. He better made sure that
-
you possessed her.
-
It's short of that being a courage that comes from God.
-
I'm telling somebody in this beauty tonight. When it comes
-
to winning souls.
-
And when it comes to the praying for the sick,
-
when it comes to pastor the church, when it comes
-
to preaching the gospel, when it comes to raising children, mother,
-
when it comes to for God.
-
For ask Father, what you needed is strength and courage
-
in order.
-
To do it. To the glory of God, y'all pray
-
for her here tonight.
-
I have preferred my brother to let her preach for
-
a couple of weeks. Ask the Lord to help me
-
with my win there. I don't seem to be struggling
-
at all, but I want the Lord to really help
-
me deliver this message the way it needs to be delivered.
-
Tonight. How many remember the words of.
-
Do the Runic chaptain of a thirty one then and
-
burse number seven That Mesu scripture reads like this, and
-
Moses called him the Joshua has set unto him and
-
the sign of all Israel. Be strong and of a
-
good courage. And be strong and be of a good courage.
-
And be strong and be of a good courage. For
-
thou must go with this people unto the land which
-
the Lord has sworn unto their fathers to give them,
-
and thou shalt cause them.
-
To inherit it.
-
Now here's where I'm going to preach to you. We've
-
laid the foundation. Get the imagery here the tune of
-
Israel and their courageous leader Joshua for standing out there
-
listening to Moses and Moses mother Jesse.
-
He's got something going on.
-
There's a meeting been called, and they have been summons
-
into the Princess of God and into the presence of Moses,
-
then into the presence of the peacras. They're wondering what
-
is going on?
-
I wonder about the town or how many thoughts?
-
Why have we been summons? There's some of you in
-
this midding that has served as a chur on a jury.
-
When you get that summons from the court, you usually
-
wonder what is this about? And you get a little
-
bit nervous. I'm there because I'm your pastor, and I
-
noticed when you tell me you receive a summons from
-
the court, the county court.
-
Imagine this man Moses saying God has told us.
-
To a symbol, and you know what they assembled. Now.
-
I want to remind you that the Bible.
-
Saying now thou shalt have no other gods before me
-
was not Moses speaking.
-
That was God speaking.
-
The New Testament writer said, for sake, not the assembling
-
of yourself together. Even so much as you see the
-
day of the Lord approaching, do it more. I am
-
paraphrasing there, but we should do it more. These people
-
came with expectation and anticipation to hear from Moses about what.
-
God was doing there in their.
-
Midst and everybody's wondering why, what is the purpose of this?
-
Perhaps there was a mixture.
-
Of emotions present at that moment of time. I'm sure
-
everybody's guests was as good as their neighbors. There was
-
somebody promising, what could this be the night that we
-
move out and we advance and go into Canaan's land.
-
Perhaps somebody up said to.
-
Moses, be about to or myself, that the earth is
-
going to split in twain and that some more people
-
are going to be swallowed up.
-
At some point, though, Moses began.
-
To speak, and he offered clarity, and it became obvious
-
to everyone president that he was handing over his leadership
-
role to Josua.
-
Now y'all think on that.
-
How did Joshua feel? Mixed feelings, different emotions? Have he
-
ever had to fall there a great speaker after he
-
has spoken there to a group group of people, How
-
unsettling it is, how unnerving it is. Young preachers, if
-
you're preach at a care meeting, that you can tell.
-
A man has been.
-
In the presence of God and the people knew the
-
lies preacher and ye's message.
-
He's been in the presence of God. Have you ever
-
been in a place where you have to follow that
-
kind of preaching? I want you to know if they've
-
never been there.
-
It is unnerving, if not disturbing, to have to do
-
such as that.
-
I'm preaching the.
-
Night a message the Holy Ghost titled if the shoe
-
doesn't fit, wear it.
-
If the shoe doesn't fit, wear it. Hitting that wal
-
Mart plastic bag.
-
There are some sketcher slip on shoes.
-
I'm telling you those are Micah's Papa's shoes. Those are
-
my shoes. Sitting next to my son Jesse is his
-
son Micah. They are on this platform where right now
-
that mother Jesse has in his hands a pair of
-
my shoes. They're fairly new and by yes, they don't stink.
-
I notice you're holding them by a heel without any problem,
-
and you're not holding at arms leaked. That's because Papa's
-
feet does not stink. Ever asks us to how they
-
never stink. You're looking at somebody right here, No matter
-
how much I'll work and anybody's ever been outside with me.
-
When I work, you know that I do the work.
-
Of two men. That's what my own daddy said. I
-
work hard. I don't believe in sitting down and doing nothing.
-
The only time I sit down usually is.
-
To eat a bottle, and then after about twenty minutes,
-
I'm standing up and gearing up.
-
To go at it again. I do not have to
-
wear deodorant. I don't know if my pH balance is
-
so well, but.
-
I have not had to wear the odor in probably
-
fifteen years.
-
I challenge you to get behind.
-
Me, standing around me after I preach, after I'm suffering wet,
-
you will find.
-
That I do not admit an odor rapped. There's a
-
pair of.
-
Shoes that Papa has worn. I must not hesitate at
-
all to bring them to church.
-
And what I want Brother Jesse to.
-
Do is stand his son Michaeh upper in front of him,
-
and I want Brother Michaeh to slip both of his
-
feet with his shoes onner in the paper shoes. There's
-
some of you in this building here tonight that you
-
will notice that Micah has no problem whatsoever putting his
-
feet inside of Papa's shoes.
-
Brother Jesse.
-
If you need to remove better Michael's shoes, you can
-
do that as well, but better Philip.
-
I believe everybody in this fielding a numbering of people
-
at the number of seventy five, they would easily say
-
that Micah does not fit those shoes, and that those
-
shoes do not pit Michael's feet.
-
Again, I'm preaching him message.
-
The Holy Gess Tyler it to shoe doesn't fit learning
-
Now I want to take a back again, and what
-
I said before I told you about her our illustration
-
or demonstration. How unnerving it must have been for Joshua
-
to see Moses saying.
-
I'm preaching a hand over the rod. I'm piercing a
-
hand over the stiff, I'm pushing a handover the time.
-
That's a start that I present to give you the rains.
-
Come here, brother Michael. If you're looking another Michael.
-
Right now, he's.
-
Six years old, he's in kindergarten. That's a bit plenty
-
to look at, isn't it.
-
He looks like somebody that likes to wear the road
-
size of shoes. He reminds me of Mother Samuel staring
-
about two years ago it did not matter what size
-
she gotta stay Sam.
-
You'll put on that he was big enough to wear it.
-
And that's what I want to test somebody here to
-
not you may.
-
Not be big enough to feel the shoe in that area.
-
You might not be big enough to feel the shoe.
-
And that Sunday school teacher and that pastor.
-
That I want you to know if.
-
God tells you you like to take up that class,
-
to take up preaching, that to take up a pastor
-
and he to preach you are being enough because God
-
is big enough. Have you ever had to follow a
-
great person in anything? Have you ever had to slip
-
into the slippers of a great grandmother and assume.
-
Her of making the confection.
-
Area centerpiece of the family together. Grandmothers they know how
-
to lift the ball. I think of the biscuits that
-
grandmothers have made. We've called them cat heead buttermeal biscuits,
-
and y'all have hurt. People say things like they can't
-
nobody bake like Grandma. I've heard people say they can't
-
nobody fried chicken like Jeremy Howell's great grandmother, kert True Jones.
-
I'm still looking for.
-
Somebody that knows how to fried chicken. As good as
-
my great grandmother. I share a birthday with her, but
-
she never shared the recipe with me or anyone that
-
I know of has. She carried it to her grave. Now,
-
if I was asked, because I share the same birthday
-
when my grandmother June the Forest, that I should be
-
the successor and that I should bring them great fried chicken,
-
I would feel about an it's tall. I would feel unworthy.
-
I would feel this, and you look at and I
-
would be her able to perform to people's expectations and.
-
The calls of their last. Set the bar.
-
I'm telling you, Moses, to set the bar that he's
-
telling Josua.
-
All I can tell you is be stronger. That being
-
a good time that I come to tell somebody to night,
-
we may not feel like we mess up. Be staller,
-
that be too later that the sue doesn't fit word.
-
Sister Howell makes a biscuits for the family the other night.
-
Now I've got some daughter in laws.
-
It's not all of them, it seems like it's all
-
of them, but there's two or three of them that
-
have worked in bakeries. They've worked in homeless people's bakeries,
-
and they are confectionaries to the extreme. I'm telling you
-
they are talented when that stuff. But sister Howell, just
-
on a whim, decided to make some miss and we
-
called the family over for a late night breakfast.
-
How many of you know there's no breakfast better than.
-
Having it in the evening or late at night. It's
-
better than when you have it in the morning. Could
-
the church say?
-
Amen?
-
And so sister how who's an efty nestra with me,
-
she still got me making a mess in the next Amen.
-
But Sister Howling decided to try her hand again at
-
making buttermilk biscuits for the family. One of the Howl
-
boys he was sitting there brother Samuel's barbershop, and he said,
-
my wife prefers those that's have busted and pulled out
-
of the tube.
-
You know, you bust open the tube and pull it out.
-
Another of us said, I think my wife, Preserved prefers
-
to take those that are frozen, throw them on a
-
pan and a bacon.
-
And Brother Samuel said.
-
Well, my wife, she knows how to make homemade biscuits.
-
And he said, at any time.
-
I'm there, or not even in the early morning.
-
Hours, if I get a hanker for a biscuit.
-
I said, Megan, want you going there and make me
-
a good biscuit. He says, she goes in there and
-
makes the best biscuits.
-
You've never had. Him you are to life, and you
-
never better say no. Saying that. I talk, man, that's
-
gonna be some big snippers.
-
To feel for her grandchildren.
-
But let me tell you the rest of the story.
-
The next day, I saw my Rost's eyes did really
-
big as she received the text message. I said, I
-
can tell by your expression that there's something going on now,
-
and you're mighty proud of herself. She said, Megan wants
-
my biscuit recipe, and Megan said, don't tell my grandma.
-
Then I'd rather have your recipe that hers come on
-
my telling you.
-
Even Megan was saying that there is room for improvement,
-
and she recognized her there's an ingredient. She wanted to
-
know what is in that recipe that makes it different.
-
I told sister Harold, I said, that smart woman. He's
-
gonna compare the ingredients.
-
Oh, come on now and see one of these exe's missing.
-
And I want to tell somebody that I you're not missing.
-
Any came up, but street and courage, and God will
-
take care of that.
-
Grandmothers, lift the bar high, pastors, lift the bar high.
-
Have you ever had to move your things from one
-
office to another only to be greeted by the many
-
plants on the wall, plights that were awarded to that
-
successful businessman or leader who's sat in there her only
-
days before you moved into his office, after you've received
-
that promotion.
-
How many of you have ever experienced that I have?
-
And I'll tell you that is one of.
-
The most intimidating experiences that I've ever experienced, is the
-
sliding of the officer of my boss man who had
-
prats on the wall? Who engineers from NASA admired? Who
-
engineers or come up from FMC admired. Hell, just sit
-
there and see.
-
Carda after caorida after card of commendation. O, what a
-
great man he was, What a great trustman he was,
-
What a great bossman he was?
-
It is so challenging, it is so intimidating.
-
Again, though, in Deuteronomy thirty one and seven, we find
-
Moses saying something to Joshua in front of everyone, be
-
strong and be courageous. Come on, now, be strong and
-
be courage these are the words for tonight.
-
Now wait a.
-
Minute, Moses, Moses, Moses, hold on just the second. Everybody
-
this building knows Moses is no Barney five.
-
Not five.
-
If five he eat Barney five, everybody this building knows
-
it would.
-
Be no problem at all to follow the come on
-
to lead of a Barney five.
-
Everybody this building knows that Moses was by leaning law,
-
that Moses was quite the skilled craftsman, that Moses was
-
quite the learned person.
-
That schooled under pharaohsa scholars. This man he could speak Hebrew,
-
and he could speak a gensu fluently. He was good
-
to look at her. I mean everything everybody looked for
-
in a leader. Moses had it that Moses also had
-
a humble and a meet spirit. That's why Moses would
-
lie between.
-
His teeth and talk about how he felt he was,
-
how his spirit felt. He said, God, I'm not eloquent
-
of speech. I'm not able to speak to these people.
-
I'm not able to read a word. But we all know, really, everybody.
-
Else new there's no better Twysa than Moses to lead
-
us up. And there's no better, or tell her God
-
than Moses. I'm telling your God, we'll.
-
Put his spirit up in you.
-
The source of curt He's in assurance of his present.
-
I'm sure Joshua was thinking, I had to succeed Moses.
-
Now, my buddy Caleb, I can handle that.
-
Put him in charge for a little while, and then
-
let me run it after Caleb has tanked it a
-
little bit.
-
How many of y'all remember Joshua was cohort Caleb. I mean,
-
follow and Caleb would have been difficult.
-
But following Moses, I'm telling you what. Moses was a
-
great example of courage. You could talk about the courage
-
of Moses when he went hand to hand or comeback
-
against one of the taskmasters of Egypt. Who could talk
-
about the courage of Moses. How he walked into the
-
troll room of Pharaoh and put a mowing finger in
-
the face of Pharaoh with an appearance of a shepherd
-
somebody in the Egyptu's despisal, and he said that Saith God, who.
-
Let my people go. Tusa was thinking, all that I've
-
got to pull off a man like that. No greater
-
example of courage is available readily.
-
Available in the Bible than that of Moses. He faced Pharaoh,
-
he faced the Red Sea, he faced the plans of Egypt.
-
He let six hundred thousand people out of Egypt, took him.
-
Across the Red Sea and watched him multiply in number
-
beyond a me.
-
And he saw Moses do so many wonderful things.
-
Moses, the one that saw the back part of God.
-
Moses, that master craftsman, that organized basic Leo and other men,
-
and they craft in and constructed the timer knuckle of God.
-
Moses had got along with God, that got handed the
-
commandments from God.
-
Moses told Joshua, you're gonna be my successor. And the
-
only thing you can say before he turns over the
-
rains he is, hey boy, he's true. Hey man, be courageous, Sir,
-
I want yall to earth. Almost to say that to
-
Micah right now, he.
-
Would be a pon. He would be shocked.
-
He even walk out of his church and say, no way, Papa,
-
I can't walk her comfortably in.
-
Your joes her I preach it all and his shoes
-
her no fitter lore there, my God.
-
I know they don't fit, Joshua, but you better grow
-
into them.
-
Quin. That's what cecil Camacho told me. I caught him.
-
Cecil Co Macho just about everybody caught him, Cecil co Macho, Comeicho,
-
but those.
-
From his homeland, island of Antiquay, they caught him, Cecil Camacho.
-
And you know what, oh, Cecil just walked over there
-
and he said, it's your baby.
-
And I thought, man, I locked it to sit in
-
your lap for a couple of months before it becomes
-
my baby. And here's what Cecil said. He said, you'll
-
figure it out. You'll figure it out. Can y'all imagine
-
Moses if you would turning in his resignation letter and
-
not leaving any so ops, not leaving any standard operational procedures,
-
Brother Thomas Sterrett, not leaving any older manuals. The only
-
thing he's leaving and leave him behind are the commandments
-
of God.
-
I'm telling you, you're not getting this, are you.
-
You're not feeling the anxiety that Josua is feeling?
-
Are you?
-
If you take a.
-
Little responsibility and start doing something for God, you can
-
relate to what I'm talking about. And out here right now,
-
I caught my life last night praying.
-
I caught her crying out to God and I never
-
interrupt her prayer. But I deserve what it was.
-
And I said, honey, well, what is that. I've never
-
done that in thirty two years of marriage.
-
I said, what it is?
-
What is it?
-
She said, well, you've got me teaching the women Saturday.
-
And she said, I feel like it's of God because
-
I know you, I know the Holy GHOSTA. I know
-
there's something to this, she said.
-
I know you have felt this for some time, and
-
I know that.
-
I'm gonna do it. I'm gonna go through with it.
-
I'm not gonna check it out. But here's what she
-
said is she said, my greatest fear is missing what
-
God has told you these people are to receive. She said,
-
I can't burn the thought. I'm missing it, missing it,
-
missing the mound.
-
Of God, missing the will of God, missing what God
-
tells me this people.
-
You're not bringing a call now, and I know that's
-
what trusting a do. I'm willing to fight another God.
-
I'm willing to conquer another king. I'm willing to turn
-
out another.
-
Shit ere And I'm not sure about this particular title.
-
I'm not sure how about this particular past I do it.
-
I'm just that, y'all.
-
What a beautiful side it must have been for Moses,
-
whose natural force had not abated. It looks just as
-
ablebody to do what he's been doing. That's when he
-
first got started. Whose eyes are still just as keenly
-
aware as to what's going on? And they've ever been
-
the best judge this people has ever known and probably
-
will ever know.
-
Oh, come on, now, he's still able to run things.
-
He's still just as great as he's ever been.
-
Just because he's got some age on you, man, doesn't
-
mean his ability has left. The word is God is
-
turning something old for Come on, I'm.
-
Telling you God has begun a transition. It's anybody listening
-
the pastor how you right here this time?
-
As some ore young people, there's time that he's say
-
some strength and you say some turrets. All you need
-
is the assurance of his presence and realize he can
-
hold a side of you can have somebody attract You
-
can say.
-
Man, you the same gord of God.
-
You can go to your Parentfaser the find the Devil's
-
just be still holding.
-
They're courageous, Brother Jesse, What brother Michael? On them shoes?
-
They say that a man should not criticize an Indian
-
until he's walked a.
-
Mile in his moccasins. Now y'all.
-
Look at brother Micah. How goofy does he feel? Come on, now,
-
he feels goofier than goofy.
-
He feels more clumsy than Ronald McDonald, the clown of McDonald's.
-
Somebody's the preacher. Which one do you prefer? Burger King
-
or McDonald's.
-
I don't know.
-
Sometimes I feel like I gotta be eating with a king
-
versus eating with a clown.
-
Could I get an amen?
-
But could you imagine what these people were thinking after
-
Joshua took the reins, or after Joshua took the man,
-
Brother Aaron Wood his guests was right. They were probably
-
about sixty to seventy percent of them that was saying,
-
he is a great warrior.
-
He is a noble warrior, a great fighter. I come on,
-
but he ain't no Moses. And you know what Moses do.
-
The haters they're.
-
Gonna hate Moses do. The critics we're gonna criticize, and
-
the skeptics are gonna be skeptical.
-
The only thing you tell a young man is feeling
-
deeply in his new position is beslow and be toring.
-
Come on, now, the Lion of Julia is with you.
-
David said, I will fear no evil, for thou art
-
with me. The source of courage is.
-
Knowing that God's presence He's there. Two and a half
-
weeks ago, when the sister dropped dead in the back
-
of our church, you notice the presence.
-
Of God was there. And because of as presents, we
-
have courage that God could be the monocular Sir. I'm
-
telling you here to night, just get in the presence
-
of God. They'll tell you, get an assurance, and he's there,
-
and you will have college.
-
Somebody said, well, when you're preaching holiness or sanctification.
-
The separation from the world, you.
-
Have courage just because I believe what I'm preaching, because
-
I've been in the presence.
-
Of the Lord.
-
And as I told my wife a week and a
-
half ago, I set charity. People rise and people fall,
-
people come and people go, People give the heart to God,
-
people bapslide away from God. But I'm convinced now more
-
than ever, and I've been pretty convinced for about thirty two.
-
Years that holiness is right. I'm telling you I'm not
-
looking for a way of loosing up. I'm looking for
-
a way for God to tighten me. I'm putting now
-
I'm not looking to tighten it up on people. I'm
-
looking for God to tighten you up until I get
-
in the present, so oh the Lord and deceiving assurance
-
that He is with me. I had to succeed Moses.
-
I have to get in their and pray.
-
Yes, you can receive the Holy Ghost the same way
-
your daddy and mama did.
-
You can receive the blessings of God the.
-
Same way your pastor of First Lady did. A week ago,
-
we heard Brother Jesse stand up here and say, I
-
am celebrating what two years of receiving the baptism of
-
the Holy Ghost.
-
He told our youths to not.
-
Brother Samuel, Brother Josh Jonathan toldas they are celebrating this day,
-
this night path two years of being filled with the
-
Holy Ghost.
-
Come now, I'm telling you they'm getting told.
-
Up two years and two days ago that they would
-
be preaching, that they would be red testimony, saying yourself,
-
they're gonna be shouting all over.
-
The turns they would say, not be thus, sums, don't.
-
I'm pld on you who will not in the sub appear.
-
Tell the devil love a pentecosta. Tell the dad, I'm
-
gonna be holy? Does Baptist go ahead put all and say,
-
I said, God, that's somebody cut. If the seer doesn't
-
fit work devil. I may not be filling with the Holy.
-
Guess right now, but I'm fish and now I will
-
be then well, I may not be here for tencer
-
right now, I'm giving about ten minutes.
-
I live it. It was how about a week ago,
-
I was as sick as some of you are. Sister
-
High was said here a Sunday morning service.
-
He says she felt strong to come lay her hand
-
on me and just pray for me. She said, Jeremy,
-
I felt like getting all of your sons and your
-
daughter too and tell them to pray for dad.
-
I'm telling you, I wish she'd o't be God. But
-
she beat herself up about that, and I told her
-
that night, I said, that's all right, y'all know.
-
We were here, had it offer to celebrate dor belated.
-
It wasn't DELI whsy of writing. And I got down
-
in that motel as as some of you are, and
-
Brother Philip could sit me with some antibotics.
-
I got down, having difficulty of breathing.
-
I got down, Brother Philip, choking in my sleep just
-
thick mucous let brother Jake has been dealing with.
-
And I got down there and tried to pray.
-
I didn't hit the panic, but come on, chicken little
-
but if you want to call her Henny Penny. She
-
got all of her friends in trouble while she escaped
-
because she hit the panic.
-
But not talking to somebody right now. I got down there.
-
I didn't make any phone calls. I didn't say, Bethel,
-
pray for me. I'm gonna die. I didn't even wake
-
up my wife. I didn't call my best friend and
-
say pray for me.
-
I got down there and I'd set.
-
India style, and I touched my forehead to that mattress
-
at to Marriott in Melbourne, Florida.
-
I've got in the spirit and got to swaying in
-
the spirit, got to jerk in a little bit. I
-
wouldn't putting on by some of you that parrot what
-
God is doing. Another tru taught there was nobody but.
-
Being God had come on commuting at that time. Then
-
I heard the Holy Ghost bring a scripture.
-
Back to my mind.
-
He does it what I'm preaching. People say, how do
-
you preach like that? That's the Holy Ghost do we
-
need the Holy Ghost to preach?
-
And I was down there and I thinking about the scripture.
-
Then it came to mind about to learn, saying, shall
-
I'm not aving mine owner which crying to me day
-
and night.
-
Then he said, I've heard your time. They'd got to.
-
Feel afracted in there somewhere between jerk number seven had
-
jerk number eight.
-
I was carelessly healed you, I said.
-
Alone, watch somebody else that was following a breath do
-
I said, like somebody that was deeing overybody? Answer, I'm
-
telling you here and not because she doesn't.
-
Feel I said, I have to tell her careful hold
-
you got her? Put in the hold up anyway. I
-
ain't got a testimony like brother Phillips put it on anyway,
-
put it out anyway.
-
I don't have a Philip yet a testimony yet, like
-
brother Phillips put the shoe on anyway, I don't have
-
the Holy ghost yet like Brother Jonathan and Brother Caingblybs put.
-
The shoe on anyway.
-
Come on, jos one destrong to me to alighteous, keep
-
Paul praying, Keep Paul.
-
Past the keep ball seeking God's able to feel you.
-
It's coming. It's coming. As sure as I'm riven, I
-
told you to havel. There's no tell us.
-
What's gonna happen in these altars at that Istra conference.
-
I was praying about it yesterday.
-
You know what if we don't have a woman in
-
this church that plays the piano proficiently, And the devil said,
-
you ain't even got a Jesson Howell to play the
-
piana for that ladies Christian conference, we're really having one
-
night this year.
-
Next year we're gonna have three knights. It's a lady
-
teaching ladies to the church. Say man. I was praying
-
about that. God said, that's all right, that's all right.
-
Just have dang of kids play the pan and sing
-
and I'll be pleased.
-
Then I was praying about it some more, and he said,
-
just have Leah play the pen and sing and I'll
-
be pleased. So Sunday, Saturday, listen to my sons. Saturday,
-
y'all won't be tickling the ivories. Y'all probably be fishing
-
on the river. But there's gonna be some sisters.
-
In here playing and singing to the Gold God.
-
And your mama's gonna pull that lectern around there, and
-
she's gonna give these ladies whatever it is God's.
-
Giving her to give them. I told her while she
-
was crying and praying, I said, if it's ten minutes
-
or if it's forty minutes, just don't go over now.
-
For your name, mate, Jeremy Howe. And I said, but
-
you give them what you've got and it will be enough.
-
It's just like you give the comments on Sunday score.
-
And here's what I told her.
-
I said, honey, you remember years ago I said, when
-
a preacher's getting nervous in the pool pit, it's always pride.
-
There is never a time that it is not pride.
-
It took me years after making excuses and saying it
-
wasn't pride.
-
It took me years to realize that you have to
-
pray through till you know He's with you. You have
-
to pray through to the goring. And told you when
-
you have to pray.
-
Through until the Holy Girls takes over those nerves. You
-
gotta get past that. And I said, when you go
-
to the pool pit or the letter or to the.
-
Sunday school classroom, you rely totally. Oh the Holy Ghost.
-
You study and you prepare her, but the Holy Girls.
-
Will put words in your mouth and the Holy ghost
-
wiping perky anton that this thrust the yolta and all.
-
You gotta do is get annoyed it. And I'm telling somebody,
-
and this is from my life. I'm not preaching to her,
-
but this will help her. Sister. Put the heel all up,
-
and word I said, put the slipper rode up. It
-
doesn't fit. And my God, I'm a pending I preach it.
-
Joshua didn't have on his record, stood in the face
-
of the leader of Egypt. Joshua didn't have on his record,
-
saw the hinder parts of God. Joshua didn't have on
-
his records, received tables of stone with lettering pinned by
-
the finger of God.
-
Come on, now, I'm telling you there's a lot of people.
-
They ride on Sister Woodin's kirttail, they ride on Sister
-
Halie's kirttail, They ride on Pastor Hallie's suit coat. Tell
-
you better be careful, because I don't even wear a
-
suit coat when I'm annoyed.
-
There's two reasons for that. I don't like any restriction.
-
I found that I get a little too dignified when
-
I'm wearing my suit coat.
-
And I've also found that I sweated at.
-
Sabbatha that my wife has to send it to the
-
cleaners after six months. It never really does smell, but
-
it just don't feel right in the church said amen, Oh,
-
come on now, I don't know that that mantle that
-
Elijah left Elisha fit his person just like it did
-
Elija's person.
-
I'm not sure that it was a perfect fit. I'm
-
not sure that those men were of equal stature. I'm
-
not sure that that mantle was compatible with the person
-
of Elisha as it was with Elijah.
-
But I know it was compatible with the spirit. And
-
that's what I'm telling you.
-
From the Word of God says that the message was
-
in Joshua is the spirit.
-
He Joshua is the spirit, and lots that Moses knew.
-
He's got the spirit that said, enough the Holy gost
-
to give you what to say the Holy Ghost, He'll
-
help you.
-
With the opportunity of Rosa. Should I keep preaching us?
-
Should we go to the house.
-
Moses told Joshua to be brave and fearless.
-
Notice this and.
-
Urse number six and do the wrotomy in thirty one.
-
He said, be strong and of good courage, fear not
-
going to be afraid of them.
-
For the Lord thy God, he it is that doth
-
go with thee. He will not fail thee, nor forsake thee.
-
The source of his courage was the assurance of God's presence.
-
Mother the thing your brother Jesse recently have received significant
-
promotions and great opportunities of advancement in the workplace in
-
a mockerly and I'm.
-
Telling you it's house to me like her. They've got
-
some pretty big shoes to feel. I want to tell
-
them right now.
-
You can consider the challenges and I consider the challenges
-
that all of these people face to including Josua.
-
They face the same things that you and I face
-
on a daily basis. Oh, come on, now, there unknowns
-
of the new child.
-
The rights of sicknesses are the trying times and the
-
moments of life. During these times, we need to be
-
sol and courageous. We don't know what tomorrow homes, but
-
we do know through hands tomorrow.
-
Think of this, the children of Israel.
-
We're about to cross the threshold of the gate to
-
the Promised Land without Moses.
-
You mean I've got to do this without Mama. I've
-
always done everything, Ma, Mama, you mean I've gotta go home.
-
My dad just died. You're telling me I've gotta go on.
-
That's what Joshua do.
-
There's a reason for Moses turned into this resignation. Hey,
-
I'll fix you to leave. And you made a carry on.
-
Now you made a carry on.
-
Come on, Tyler.
-
He'll let me tell you something that came from God.
-
A couple of nights ago. I've already four warns you.
-
God showed me that your grandma's living on Bard time.
-
That is not to hit the panic button.
-
That is not to think she's gonna die tomorrow or
-
the next year, within the next five years.
-
God did not give me a timeline, but God made
-
it clear to.
-
Me that you will see a time in the future
-
when she is not working in that kitchen.
-
You will see a time in the future when she's
-
not out there the roasting brisket to your pleasure, and.
-
You'll please and oh, come on, but I'm telling you,
-
if you did, you.
-
See across the chili Jordan, you see a grandma among
-
a great class.
-
I don't witnesses that. People saying Tyler, he's strong, Tyler, Tyler,
-
to do the good, playing a good service.
-
They keep serving God they's still that ain't trunk and
-
the moody of holding us.
-
I'm telling us somebody here to lie. Mama may be dead,
-
that he may be dead. That's best time to carry over.
-
I said, continue, o you.
-
He it is that death go with THEE. He will
-
not fail THEE nor forsake THEE. Y'all know what Joshua,
-
he knew.
-
There's ten men right here with me right now that
-
brought evil reports.
-
There's ten men in.
-
My company that brought evil reports when me and Cayla
-
brought good reports. And Joshua keeps on leading despite the
-
bad reports. Certainly their unknown challenges and dangers just ahead.
-
And Moses to Joshua and that suld of his will
-
be strong and be courageous, Why can you do such
-
a thing? Because of his presence, Fear must have gripped
-
some people, including Joshua. I'm telling you I'm not planning
-
on resigning, and I'm certainly not putting in a vote
-
to God to die.
-
I'm not planning on leaving the Becca Holy Church any
-
time soon. But I want you to know if I
-
was to be told by God.
-
That I'm gonna die in the near future, or if
-
I was to be told by God, there go be
-
a missionary on foreign soil, and to leave you would.
-
Have to put on the shoe that seemingly did not pit,
-
and you'd have to keep on. Come on, I'm telling somebody,
-
if the shoe.
-
Doesn't pit, wear it, what do you need to do
-
such a thing? What do you need to take such
-
an undertaking your hand? Have God's presence with you. Fear
-
must have gripped.
-
So many people that day, Brother Roquet. When I think
-
about it, I couldn't imagine.
-
Moses literally turning loose of the reins and a horse
-
that is running at a Britant ut face.
-
We like Joshua, though, we can be strong because the
-
Lord goes with us.
-
In the Book of Exodus, chapter number four, we find
-
a time in Moses's life when he felt like his
-
own people would not believe his words. In fact, Moses said,
-
these people aren't gonna believe me. They're not gonna believe
-
a word I'm saying. Moses felt like the Israelites wouldn't
-
hearken unto his voice. He felt like they would doubt
-
his burning bush experience. They felt like he would doubt
-
his burning bush experience. Moses felt like they would doubt
-
his burning bush experience. And the Lord said, Moses, what's
-
that in your hand? And he said it's rod. And
-
God said, we'll throw it down, and that rod became
-
a serpent. There was a time in Moses's ministry when
-
he felt like the shoot didn't fit either if God
-
was telling him he put them on.
-
God told him said, take off your shoes, Moses, for the.
-
Place where you ustadt is Holy Brew, and you're fixing
-
a put on holy shoes.
-
Hey, come on, are y'all feeling what I'm feeling? On me?
-
Running backs like, well, I hadn't this preacher's preaching for
-
two weeks? Didn't you come on? Nothing? Worship power out?
-
I don't A bunch of you texting me today said
-
we're ready for Pasor to preach. Come on, you don't
-
matter who's doing the preaching. We should still stay spiritual.
-
We should still have the power in the bows. Come
-
on up, I sitt have to resurrect.
-
Somebody of us hervits. Oh my god, I'm feeling good
-
in my soul. That's not boasting. I'm telling you your dollar.
-
I'm teach too.
-
Your sister is speaking his sisters too. He said, he's
-
still teaching to teach with an audience. Come on, my
-
name ain't Moses, but you know what I do.
-
Bereave. I believe in.
-
God, says stepping in shoes, Moses, I believe in got
-
this stuffing and shoes tear mean God'll make you.
-
Shoes, your steet feeling shoes.
-
God.
-
Somebody down now, warn't more a Bethel sleeper.
-
Huh, somebody down now, we're warm bethel sleeper, Brother Jesse.
-
He preached to you now, man, huh, where are you
-
at him? Where are your Bethel? Where are your beth by? Moses?
-
Take out the shoes for the place where thou.
-
Standest is holy ground, Brother Jesse, preach, where are at him?
-
Why? Come on? Where are your Methel?
-
It's time to put on in shout shoes. I've never
-
shouted to day in my life.
-
Put him out.
-
It's time to put him holding off my car shoes hot.
-
I'm telling you it's time to do something.
-
You lower God.
-
Ay man, I'm just now for pretty good the man
-
I was where to start the preaching because of God's presence,
-
I'm feeling good.
-
I ot captains. These people need to wake up. But
-
we're about to have a shout and fit.
-
Two years ago and one day brother Sam young brother
-
Jonathan would not believe at all, and they were gonna
-
have the Holy Ghost.
-
The next day they struggle without too.
-
Why Moses, take off your shoes for a place where
-
you're standing on is holding?
-
Now? Oh, come on, God told Moses.
-
He said, you're worried about what they're gonna think. You're
-
worried about what they're gonna say. He said, cast that
-
rod down.
-
Y'all know what happened.
-
It became a serpent. God said, pick it up and
-
became a rod. And then Moses is still wondering, am
-
I able.
-
To do it?
-
God said, stick your hand out, and his hand became lepers.
-
Then God said pulling back in and his hand was restored.
-
Oh my Jesus, a long waking up.
-
Yet that wasn't come on churches out, Oh word. When
-
the lost God was teaching Moses to rely on trust.
-
Totally on the Lord's prayers, that God was, let Moses
-
do they no matter what they think't what they do and.
-
What they say. It's all us who go about prayers.
-
That's with you.
-
And that's why later Moses is able to say, God,
-
don't you take me up from here unless.
-
You go with me.
-
I'm trying to tell whom Moses had the same mindset
-
Josua had.
-
But Moses was getting started in ministry.
-
And that's some of these people that are holy gones
-
feel they had the same hesitations, concerns, reservations.
-
That you knew that you knew.
-
I've heard, I'm preaching. I've got to sleep, and God
-
help us Nowjesus is passing the raising Jostley. Moses told
-
the Lord that he wasn't an eloquent speaker. They said,
-
I'm slow at speech.
-
Not to lie. It's true that Aaron is just a
-
little bit better. It's true, just a little.
-
Bit better, just a little bit. But Aaron's also a liar.
-
It'll prove that later. Aaron's also a charismatic pastor into
-
making here is also somebody that's fine us at the
-
backbone where the good one. That's why a lot of
-
these pictures are making these churches houses of the devil,
-
because they don't have it in them to say no,
-
they should be preaching, they should be pastoring. So while
-
Moses is up communal of God, Hearin's telling them at
-
these golden calfs are the gods.
-
That brought them out of each of that. Aaron's a
-
lion trothet Moses.
-
God could have said, while you're every wondering if you're
-
good enough, God could have said, well, I'm gonna take
-
you down the road.
-
This man you're asking to come hell you, he is
-
going to lead my people astray. Y'all know why I
-
do a lot of what I do.
-
Around here because I could trust myself. You can't trust everybody.
-
And we open this poope and everybody. What I'm saying
-
is we know vet.
-
And screen who's preaching in this poop ya. And there's
-
some of them that are preaching this pooping and will
-
never preach here again. And they can act like right now, oh,
-
oh so bad. It is bad. It is a dishonor.
-
It is a dishonor to you that you no longer
-
qualify to preach. Oh come on now, I'm turning you up.
-
You are preaching. Aaron's got about their worshiping golden casts.
-
Aaron's got about their worship of golden casts and Moses.
-
Before he starts preaching, he's saying, I'm not eloquent.
-
Of speech, and God said, who has made man's mouth, Moses,
-
he makes the double of death the sin of the party.
-
Have not either word. Now, therefore toe and I will
-
be with it. I'll be without mouth, and I'll show
-
thee up to say, I'll tell us somebody him and out.
-
Just put your feet in. It sees that God will
-
cause the feet the pick.
-
O God, my God.
-
Then my brother Jesse got the Holy Ghost. God impressed
-
upon my heart to say, just a quick sentence, I'm
-
looking for spiritual people to pray.
-
And Brother Jesse in that moment realize I'm not spiritual,
-
and that struck a chord with him the same.
-
A beautiful tune. I must be spiritual.
-
I must be spiritual or somebody right down you to
-
receive the Holy Ghost in this servance.
-
Well, I don't have I said. If the shoe does appear, what, oh,
-
it ain't none of us said we're gonna measure up
-
the Christ. But we're worried. There ain't none of us
-
that we're gonna be as big as the Holy Ghost.
-
But win killing are y'all waving come?
-
I'm telling you right there, I'm feeling like preaching when
-
I'm waiting on turns to wake up.
-
I ain't on somebody like Charsson to be strong, to
-
be able to get turns. I ain't on somebody to
-
look at that shoe that doesn't fit and I put
-
it on. I've never ran around the turch before. I've
-
never left up the name of Jesus before. I've never
-
shouted the loss of time of her. I've never seen
-
the person and God before. I've never cut my hands,
-
And with all of the night before.
-
I'm slow. A speech Moses said, I'm slow. Speech Moses said,
-
Oh Jesus.
-
Hebrews, chapter number thirteen, of verse number five is a
-
reminder of what he said in do Toroonomy thirty one six.
-
For he has said, I will never leave thee nor
-
forsake thee Jesus had told his followers, It's expedient for
-
you that I go away, for if I go not away,
-
the comfort or will not come. Jesus did ascend, and
-
the Holy Ghost did the said. And the truth is
-
two years ago there were a lot of young men
-
around here that I could lick it unto Joshua that
-
was looking at the moseses of this church, the elders,
-
the leadership of this church and they were thinking, I'll never.
-
I'll never have. What they have was Sister Wood. God's
-
lit a shoe right there. It's years if you want it.
-
You just don't want to get as loud as Sister
-
Wound's getting right now.
-
She's not doing that to be heard. She's doing that
-
betrays her God. If the sin doesn't fit.
-
Worth, I an't worthy. That's what I was saying, a thought,
-
I'm not worthy.
-
That's what you're a mythought, I'm not worthy.
-
That's what Amos thought. Sweet may love God, and I
-
wait by the church to wake up. Then with I
-
want to tell you enclosiveness.
-
The spirit, the Holy ghost will rise to the occasion, I.
-
Said, the spirit the Holy ghosts will rid us to
-
the actasia.
-
And that's what mosees DoD God said. The spirit said, Joscela, Oh,
-
I gotta say.
-
That, Josu is be sah, it'd be collagious, because I
-
know the spirits in my ship, I said, because I'm.
-
There, the spiriting your super it is the spirits in her.
-
We all live to your crazy just staying sleep in
-
turch two weeks and you're asleep.
-
Two weeks ago, we'd been shouting by now, and I'm
-
not scold anybody
