So thankful to be here tonight. We do terribly, terribly
-
miss our pastor and the others that are out. We
-
do pray for a quick and speedy recover for our
-
dear little sister. I'm gonna be very brief. Pastor said,
-
don't take too long, so I'm not going to trust me.
-
Praise God. If you'll turn with me to the Psalms
-
chapter nine, verse number ten a verse I've had on
-
my heart and mind for several several weeks, maybe even
-
a month now. Psalms chapter nine, verse ten says, and
-
they that know thy name will put their trust in THEE,
-
for thou Lord hast not forsaken them that seek thee.
-
Y'all can be seated. I will read one more scripture
-
very quickly, and then we'll try to deliver what the
-
Lord wants us to and get out of the way
-
so these other brothers can maybe clean up my mess.
-
Deuteronomy twenty eight and two. And all these blessings shall
-
come on thee and overtake thee if thou shalt hearken
-
unto the voice of the Lord, thy God. And my
-
thought was overtaken, but never forsaken. We know God is faithful.
-
We know the character. That's what came to me earlier
-
standing by the door, that we know the character of Jesus.
-
We know it. We know we can trust him, we
-
know we can believe in him. We know it. And
-
that's why, as the Psalmist here said, Lord, you don't
-
forsake He knew his character too. He knew that whenever
-
he sought the Lord, every time, he's all God and
-
really meant it, really got into it. God never forsook him.
-
Matter of fact, they believe by Jesse you tonight said,
-
never seen the righteous forsaken. But we have to seek him.
-
But we have to be righteous. Over there in Deuteronomy,
-
Moses was telling him, look, everything great, everything wonderful, all
-
this good is going to come on you if I
-
do believe. If is the biggest little word out there,
-
so many promises. Hang on. If if you will, God will,
-
if you will seek him, He'll never forsake you. If
-
you'll trust in him, you can see the good things
-
of God. If you'll do his commandments, then all this
-
will follow after. But we must first seek. If we
-
pursue him and his will, he will pursue us with
-
his glory and his blessings. If we, as Jude said,
-
if we earnestly contend for the faith Hebrews said, to
-
diligently seek him. We've got to do our part. Five
-
minutes a week ain't gonna cut it. I dare say
-
even an hour a week, it's not gonna cut it.
-
Just because we show up that the church, that doesn't
-
necessarily mean that we've sought him. Just because we darkened
-
the door doesn't mean that we are diligently seeking him,
-
that we're earnestly contending for the faith. We've got to
-
do a little bit more. We've got to put our
-
knees into it, put our will into it, put our
-
faith into it. I do thank God that another thing
-
he gave me. I feel like it was the Lord
-
that spoke this into me, to my heart a couple
-
of days ago. We're not overwhelmed because his goodness overtook me.
-
I know, Brother Samuel is probably feeling a little bit overwhelmed,
-
But we know the character of our Christ Christ will
-
not let him be overwhelmed. Even in the middle of
-
situations that are stormy, that are dark, that are just
-
more than what we should be able to handle. We're
-
not overwhelmed. As Brother Jonathan was testifying just a little
-
bit earlier, he knew where to turn to. It was
-
getting black, it was getting dark, it was getting very,
-
very urgent. It was getting to the point of emergency,
-
it seemed like. But before the overwhelming happened, God's mercy
-
and grace overtook them, and he took control. And how
-
many times I know we've seen it, and I know
-
in the middle of it we I feel like, Oh God,
-
I can't handle this. No, you can't. That's why you
-
give it to him. That's why you seek him. That's
-
why you've sought him. That's why you've kept his commandments.
-
That's why you've done everything he's asked you to do,
-
because you know there will come a time and every
-
person's heart, every person's life, every persons person's situation, there
-
will come a time when you can't handle it. But
-
the situation doesn't have to overwhelm us because God has
-
overtaken us. I may have faltered, and many times I have,
-
but He never forsook me. No matter how many times
-
I stumble. If I'll reach back up, He'll reach back down,
-
no matter the dirt, no matter the stones that are
-
stuck into my hands and they're stuck in my knees,
-
And no matter the lacerations, I can still take that
-
hand and put it up to him and say, Lord,
-
I've done it again. I should have saw that stumbling stone.
-
I should have seen it, but I didn't, and I
-
fell over it. Would you have reached down one more time?
-
And he does because he doesn't forsake those that seek him.
-
He's faithful always, in all situations. He is so faithful.
-
And I don't know why, except that he's God. I
-
don't know why he continues to be faithful to me.
-
I don't know why it continues to reach down that
-
hand one more time, call me son and put me
-
back on my feet. I do appreciate God
