A Silhouette In The Sunset - Bro Samuel Howell 2-11-2026

Certainly good to be in the House of the Lord

again for the second time today. God out last night

about twelve o'clock. There's nothing wrong with that. I love church,

I love being here. You can be turned to the

Book of Luke, the fifteenth chapter, the fifteenth chapter. I

want to say thank you to my pastor for this opportunity.

I certainly appreciate it. I'm looking forward to seeing what

the Lord's going to do. Haven't you enjoyed this revival

thus far? It's been amazing out pouring blessings of the

Lord each and every service. The preaching has been powerful

up up until this point. We're praying the Lord will

help us to deliver our burden. I just love it

when you can come to a place and feel like

somebody's been doing some homework. Some saints of God have

been doing some homework, and I want everybody to do

their homework at the house and just get what it

is that God has for because it's for everybody. It's

not just for a select few. You know, there's some

religions that they have a select few that they.

Say is going to make it.

But with God is if whoever wants to it, said

whosoever will let him come. And that's that's the kind

of God I want to serve. That says, no matter

your position, no matter your person, no matter who you are,

what color you are, how big, how small, it's for

you as well as it is for me. But let's

look here in verse eleven, chapter number fifteen of the

Book of Luke will be reading through twenty. Here he said,

And a certain man had two sons, And the younger

of them said to his father, father, give me my portion,

Give me the portion of goods that falls to me.

And he divided them unto his and he divided unto

them his living. And not many days after, the younger

son gathered altogether and took his journey into a far city,

into a far country, and there wasted his substance on

rioteous living. And when he had spent all, there arose

a mighty famine in the land, and he began to

be in wont And he went and joined himself to

a citizen of that country, and he sent him into

the fields to feed swine. And he would fain have

filled his belly with the hust that the swine did eat.

And no man gave unto him, And when he came

to himself, he said, how many hired servants of my

father's have bread enough and to spare, and I perish

with hunger.

I will arise and go to my father.

I will say unto him, Father, I have sinned against Thee,

and before THEE. I have sinned against Heaven and before Thee.

And I am no longer I am no worthy to

be called thy son. Make me as one of thy

hired servants. This is the particular scripture the verse that

the Lord spoke to me and just really drew something

out that will be taking our main tax from And

he arose and came to his father. But when he

was when he was yet a great way off, his

father saw him and had to passion on him, and

ran and fell on his neck and kissed him. Lift

your hands into heaven and ask God to help us tonight. Lord,

we ask you right now, in the name of Jesus, Lord,

that you would please touch us. God, pour out your

spirit God upon all of us. God lets your annoyingting faul.

Lord will be sure to give you the praise God

in the glory.

God. Touch your heart, Lord, touch a life.

God, let someone receive strength, Lord God, speak to me,

oh Lord God, and annoyed me to do your service

and your will God, and will be sure to give

you all the praise, the honor and the glory. Lord,

in your name we ask, and we pray. In Jesus' name,

we pray.

Amen.

Now we reading this chapter, and we've all heard it

preach from probably countless times in our life. There's no

doubt that growing up, I've probably heard it more times

than I can count, and I'm sure everyone can say

the same for themselves. But this chapter is as mainly

kind of known as the portion of long of the

parable of lost things. The first count of the lost thing,

and here is the shepherd that lost his sheep, and

he left the ninety nine to go grab the one.

The third or the second is the lady that lost

her coin and swept her house and lit a candle

because she wanted to find it. And lastly is the

prodigal son. This is the portion I want to focus on.

But the prodigal son decides that he wants to do

his own thing and get what his father has set

aside for him as an inheritance, and go live a

life of what he thinks is having a good time

and what he thinks is best for him. So the

father gives to both his sons. If you look there

in that verse, it said it he divided unto them

their portion. So he gave both their sons what they

what they had said he had set aside for them.

The one sun stayed, as we know.

But the younger son decides that he's gonna carry on

his way and go do what he wants to do.

And he gets what he wants, and he thinks he's

got everything he'll ever need to keep him where he

wants to be. Now he thinks he has the time,

and the and the and puts his plan in emotion,

and he gathers all this stuff together, and he heads

away from the place of plenty, and he finds himself.

Later on down the road.

He goes and he experiences all the joy that there

is to have in sin. You know in the Bible

it does safe there's pleasure in sin for a season.

So he goes in and experiences all the joys that

this world has to offer. And next thing he knows

the place that looks so bright and full of life,

it's now in a famine. It now has nothing to

offer him. This world will offer you something, but the

moment you get in need and you find yourself and

in need, they never extend a hand back to you.

It always leads you hungry and longing for more.

So if you have plans on going out, just know

that once you do get out, after you spent all

that you had, after you've lost the peace that you had,

after you lost the joy that you had, and you

reach for another thing, just know that the world is

not gonna give that which you won't and they're gonna

leave you and say no, go feed some swine. I

don't plan on preaching a doom and gloom message. This

is gonna get excited. You just hang there with me.

But after he's spent everything, he finds himself in a

hog pen. He had a good time living while he

had it, but he finds himself in a famine. He

finds himself starving. Now, in verse number sixteen, that word

fame means willing and glad. He got to the point

where he was so hungry that he was willing and

gladly to partake of the husk. He was willing and said,

this is my meal for the night. Now I don't

exactly remember or recall what it was. But I looked

at that what the husk is, and it's some kind

of long like skinny piece of brown something they say is.

Sweet and high in fiber, that and famines.

That's what the most of the farmers would feed their

their their stock to make sure that they stayed full

for a long time, because they were rationing in their food.

But so he finds him some husk, and he starts

eating of it, and he starts for taking of it,

and he finds himself, and it says he came to

himself and he realized. He said, Hey, the servants at

my father's house has bread enough and to spare. Why

do I sit here anyway? Why am I gonna hang

out here anymore? When I know that my servants are

treated better? And here I am working for this man.

Here I am feeding his speeds, and I don't have

anything to eat. I don't have anything to eat. And

he goes and he decides it's time for me to

go go home. It's time for me to make tracks.

He realizes, it says, I gotta get up, and it

says he rose up, and he started added to his

father's house, and then he said his father saw him

a great way off, and tonight for a little while,

I like to preach on a silhouettes and the son set.

The father saw his son a great play off, and

he said, my son is coming home. He said. He

ran to him and he met him. I want to

tell some loved ones tonight you may see your.

Loved one a great play off. I believe there's some silhouettes.

And the son said his father was fucking and awaiting

his return. I want to encourage some parents tonight that

had some lost loved ones, some families that have some

friends that have left God.

There's some silhouettes off and the sunset.

This father spent and I have no doubt there are

some times in his day where he just propped up

on the fence post, the prince post, and he loved

and he said, am I gonna see him?

Come on today? And next thing you know, about the

time the sun set.

I don't know if it's about time, but this just

what God so spoke to me about the time the

sun was about to go down.

Just when he thought another night to come to.

An end, Suddenly he sees his son a great way

off and He rushed to him, and he falls on

him and he kisses him.

He was long and anticipating his return.

I have no doubt in my mind that the sun

whenever he he realize this is my dad.

And he's running to meet me.

I imagine he picked up his pace as well and

said I'm coming home.

Mother.

Father, you see him coming, you might as well give

him the bread. Run grab a loaf with you or something,

and say, I know you've been hungry.

I know you've been starving. Welcome home.

The father and the son said I don't want to

be a son. He said, just make me a servant.

But the father said, no, that's not what I haven't mind.

I played on me storing all.

Go get the best room, Go get that robe your

mother sowed. Perhaps I was the robe the mother sown

because she saw, just like her father, who's out there

time at her time, knowing that one day he's gonna

run out. They may have left, they may have seemingly

walked out on God, but God has to final say.

And as long as they're obedient to the voice of

the Lord, and as long as they heed the voice

of the Lord, and as long as they say miserable

and where they're at, and you don't do anything to

put them off, and you don't do anything to say, well,

just whenever.

You're ready, whenever you find it time fitting for you.

I don't think the father was constantly reaching out to

his son saying, how are you in the far country?

Is there anything I can send you? Because if the

father would have given him the supply to stay out there,

he would have never returned. But his father said, I'm

gonna wait till he gets hung great, and then I'm

gonna have something to feed age. I don't lost the

spot my notes, but that father another thing that I

had in mind. I can see I know my dad

would be this way, and I pray that the Lord

makes me the man to be this way. But as

he sits there, perhaps he was propped up on a

fence post at the very pasture that his son took

care of. It might have been a calve that his

son raised, and then the next thing you know, it

become a heifer. And the heffer had a calve, and

he sits there and tosses a little extra feet. He

sits there and finds it up because he knows I

got a son that's gonna return, and I need the

best quality of me to throw a party to welcome

my son return home. I believe God has been spending

some days here at Bethel. In the last couple of days,

he's been fattening Bethel, making her ready for the return

of the prodicle. I can see him now has to

make the way across the field. I see a silhouette

of somebody. I believe the Lord's been tossing us some

extra feet. We're nothing special, I can promise you that.

We're not.

Since it's we're not God's favorite child. I can promise

you that, but we're sincere because we have a pastor

that says I got some some people that have left

my church, that I gotta make sure Bethel stays prayed up,

that I gotta make sure Bethel stays ready that whenever

they do walk through those doors, because they will. It

might be looking dark right now, and might be looking

like this world's coming to and now, but by God's help,

we'll see him dark in the doors. We'll see the

silhouette coming across the field, and we'll be ready to

throw a party.

By faith that Father fat in that calf.

To every prodigal that has left home, to every prodigal

that's walked out saying I've been saved, I've been sanctified.

I'm Holy Goest. Feel I can do this on my own.

You'll find yourself in a pigpen. You'll find yourself at

the dead end. You'll find yourself at the end of

the rope. But I want to tell you God has

a fresh meal. He has a cow that he's ready for.

You to feast on.

All you gotta do is come down to the altar

and he'll fully reach you, and he'll give you everything

that you ever lost, everything that you ever wanted. But

you have to submit, and you have to be willing

to leave it fully. I don't believe in anything that's

in me that the prodigal son grabbed some souvenirs from

the pig pen. Maybe it was his favorite little piggy.

I don't think he ever came back with it, because

he wouldn't have come back if you would have been

happy where he was that So whenever you do come back,

leave your pigs behind, leave the hust behind.

The Lord had the steak for you to eat. He's

got better. Thanks. Just leave it all behind.

This young man just wanted to come back as a servant.

It's all right to come back as a servant. I'm

glad to be a servant in the Lord's house. But

not only am I'm a servant, but I'm considered to

be a child of the king. I may not have

my fancy robe right now, but one day, when I'm

sitting down and I'm in my robe of white, it'll

be the best robe that this world has ever seen.

We'll eat of the best meal that the father has

ever seen. Right now, with the prodigal to this world.

Right now, we're gonna go one day. This isn't our

final home. One day the Lord's gonna call us home.

One day we'll be a silhouette inside as we return

and we fly. Oh God, I'm not gonna be much longer.

But his father was looking for.

Him every day. He was looking for him.

Right now, you read, and you pray, and you pray,

and you pray, Lord, return that which is fast under me.

I believe that father prayed for his son. I believe

he was worried about it. I'm not saying he wasn't.

I'm not saying that he just left him to his

own devices. And just left him and said, I'm not

even gonna pray for me. He's he's went his he's

went his way. There's some parents. The reason why your

lost family hasn't come back is because you're done with

brother Jesse said, you've buried some promises. You said they're

too old, they're too stubborn in their ways. You're never

They're never too old to come back home. Keep your

eyes fixed on the sunrise with the sunset, and one day,

as long as you have hope and faith in God

and you pray, you'll see somebody walking across the field,

and you'll say, my son has come home, my daughter

has come home. I want some people to be ready

to receive you a product. I'm done. Let's all stand.

I want some people to be excited about the return

of their prodigal I want to see some people excited

about what's off in the sunset, what's off in the distance?

Am I look a long way off? It might seem

far fetched, it might seem impossible. But with God's help

and with God's strength, and with God's power and with

God's ability, nothing's too hard for God. Nothing's impossible for God.

Let's all come and find a place to pray and

ask God to help us and help us to fatten

our call.
