  1. Hey, hey, hey.

  2. [Music]

  3. Heat. Heat.

  4. [Music]

  5. [Applause]

  6. Well, hallelujah.

  7. >> Amen.

  8. >> You guys feeling all right today?

  9. >> Yeah,

  10. >> man. My yard's happy. We got some rain

  11. coming down.

  12. Sheesh. I had to get break out the

  13. umbrella today.

  14. Well, hey, if you're a first- time guest

  15. with us, my name is Ben. I have the

  16. opportunity to serve as lead pastor

  17. here. And what a good uh day to be in

  18. church. It's back to church Sunday.

  19. >> Aren't those interesting statistics that

  20. uh the majority of people, if you're

  21. just willing to invite them, will come

  22. to church. Uh some of you here might be

  23. uh here today because I see some hands

  24. going up. Uh because someone invited you

  25. to to to join us. And so, uh, if that's

  26. you and you're you're back in church,

  27. may we celebrate you. We're glad you're

  28. here.

  29. [Applause]

  30. And, uh, hey, maybe, uh, we have, uh, an

  31. online, uh, congregation as well. Uh,

  32. maybe you're back online for the first

  33. time. Let's celebrate the online guest.

  34. Well, we're going to get in the word of

  35. God today. And, uh, would you bow your

  36. hearts and pray with me? Father, we

  37. thank you, Lord, for your Holy Spirit.

  38. Father, we thank you for grace. Lord, I

  39. pray that your grace would be sufficient

  40. in this hour. God, that by your grace,

  41. we would hear from heaven. Lord, that we

  42. would not hear simply words from men.

  43. But God, I thank you for your Holy

  44. Spirit ministering grace to each one,

  45. bringing counsel, comfort, conviction,

  46. encouragement, God, that we would leave

  47. this place stirred up by the Holy

  48. Spirit. Father, equipped to go and do

  49. and be who you've called us to be.

  50. Father, we thank you, Lord, for this

  51. opportunity to just sit in your presence

  52. as sons and daughters

  53. and hear from you.

  54. So Lord, I thank you for it now in Jesus

  55. name. Amen.

  56. >> Well, hey, the last two weeks, if you've

  57. been around, we've been uh doing what we

  58. call kickoff. We've had two kickoff

  59. Sundays and kind of had the football

  60. theme and and really kind of around what

  61. God's doing with us as a people. Uh as

  62. we're stepping into a capital campaign

  63. season and God continues to expand us.

  64. And how many know that a that a growing

  65. church is a healthy church? Amen. And so

  66. we continue to have uh God bring more

  67. people uh here. And it's not just people

  68. from other churches, but we're having

  69. people that are authentically unsaved uh

  70. that have yet to give their life to

  71. Christ uh showing up and giving their

  72. life to Christ and getting saved. That's

  73. good news. Amen. And and so we're just

  74. responding as God is ministering to us

  75. and and moving us as a congregation to

  76. say, "Hey, we want to make sure that

  77. we're that we're ready to receive people

  78. coming to the church."

  79. >> And so we've been launching this capital

  80. campaign and uh really in the idea of

  81. football, we've been catching the play

  82. and we heard the play is a legacy play.

  83. Say legacy.

  84. We've been called to get off the bench,

  85. get in the game.

  86. No sitting around warm in the pews in

  87. this church.

  88. We don't have pews anymore. But we got

  89. we got rows. Can't just sit around in

  90. church. Amen.

  91. >> Church is not a spectator sport. So,

  92. we've been getting off the bench and

  93. getting in the game. And and last week,

  94. God moved us from uh the invitation to

  95. the assignment. and uh kind of spent

  96. some time looking at Moses and the

  97. burning bush and and that whole

  98. interaction and and uh what we resolved

  99. is that God's not sending someone else.

  100. Uh we can come with our excuses and our

  101. reasons and all the different things uh

  102. when God is calling us and puts a play

  103. before us all the reasons why we

  104. shouldn't get out on the field. Uh but

  105. God says, "Hey, I'm not sending someone

  106. else. I'm sending you."

  107. And we as a church have lifted our hand

  108. and said, "Put me in, coach.

  109. I'm ready for it. Uh, anyone that uh

  110. says church is boring is in the wrong

  111. church.

  112. >> Amen.

  113. >> Anyone that says Christianity is is

  114. outdated and stale and boring, uh, man,

  115. you're not connected to the same Christ

  116. that I'm connected to because because my

  117. uh my time serving God has been

  118. thrilling and exhilarating. Amen.

  119. Because I have the opportunity to watch

  120. death come to life. If I watch sinners

  121. become saints, I watch eternity open up.

  122. I I get to live it out every single day.

  123. >> Amen.

  124. >> And so do you. We serve a big God. He

  125. sits on the throne. He's alive and well

  126. and he's dwelling on the inside of us.

  127. Amen.

  128. >> I better get back to my notes, otherwise

  129. we going to be here for a minute.

  130. It's a legacy play.

  131. legacy.

  132. You know, it'd be one thing to say,

  133. "Hey, we we want to raise some money and

  134. build a building just so we're a little

  135. bit more comfortable." Uh, but that's

  136. not the play. I mean, I don't care. We

  137. can set up tents. We can stand out in

  138. the yard if you want. And and man, I can

  139. have some church out there and enjoy

  140. myself.

  141. >> Matter of fact, that might be kind of

  142. neat.

  143. Uh, but it's not about us. It's about

  144. the legacy. Who was here Wednesday

  145. night? We our staff was up in Grand

  146. Rapids, but uh at a conference, but man,

  147. I I I got to see some video clips of a

  148. youth

  149. >> le worship team knocking it out of the

  150. park.

  151. And when we're talking about legacy,

  152. we're talking about the generations that

  153. are younger now and the generations

  154. behind us that need to hear the gospel

  155. of Jesus Christ.

  156. >> Amen. And so we have an opportunity to

  157. pour some fuel on the fire, to pour into

  158. that, to see that that this generation

  159. coming up has a solid foundation, a

  160. place to get connected with Jesus, to

  161. get full of the spirit, and to go make

  162. disciples. Amen.

  163. >> I don't know about you, but I like being

  164. part of something that's bigger than me.

  165. >> We're part of something that's bigger

  166. than us, and this play is for

  167. generations to come.

  168. So, I didn't have to, but I felt to stay

  169. in the football theme

  170. >> because I like football

  171. >> and I understand some of the lingo and I

  172. hopefully I can if you're not a football

  173. fan, hopefully I can help you uh maybe

  174. step into some of the lingo, but but

  175. man, today is a little bit different

  176. than kickoff Sunday. Today is what we

  177. call back to church Sunday. And uh I'm

  178. calling it huddle Sunday.

  179. >> Look at your neighbor and say, "Huddle

  180. up."

  181. My goodness.

  182. Yeah. And God's been taking us through

  183. it. And hey, uh maybe uh you've been

  184. here since the very beginning of Grace

  185. Summit Church and uh man, you're you're

  186. feeling stirred and feeling moved and

  187. hear the call and say, "Hey, I'm I'm

  188. ready to get in the game." But uh maybe

  189. you're new to Christianity, new to the

  190. church, and you feel a little bit like a

  191. rookie. Say rookie.

  192. >> Rookie.

  193. And man, that's good news because we

  194. need some rookies on the team,

  195. >> right?

  196. >> Yeah.

  197. I I still like to think I'm young

  198. sometimes. So, I go out and do sports

  199. and I go, "Man, uh" and then I I I go,

  200. "Uh, you young guys go do it."

  201. >> Yeah.

  202. >> Used to be used to be uh on a basketball

  203. league, man. We did it for years and had

  204. a great team of guys and then and then

  205. we had this younger generation that

  206. started playing with us and I'm like,

  207. "Yes, man. Some finally some guys that

  208. can hang, right?" And then they get

  209. running and I'm like, man, they're in

  210. their 20s and they have got more stamina

  211. than what I have. And so like halfway

  212. through we're playing full court and I'm

  213. just like, dude, just just go. And I'm

  214. just like zinging the ball down the

  215. court. Like I don't even have it

  216. anymore. Right? So, hey, listen. We need

  217. some rookies in Christianity that have

  218. that fervor and that zeal and get

  219. stirred up and say, "Hey, man. I'm ready

  220. to go."

  221. >> And I was thinking about

  222. the reality of Christianity.

  223. You know, I'm going to preach that. Can

  224. I just talk to you today?

  225. >> I was thinking about when God uh kind of

  226. lays a play before us. Uh, in other

  227. words, I know the right thing that I'm

  228. supposed to do. God's challenging me to

  229. step out and go do the right thing.

  230. And there's been times that I go, man,

  231. I'm stirred up, ready to go. Hey, I got

  232. to go do this. And I'm standing there

  233. face to face with that moment and this

  234. anxiety and this nervousness and this

  235. something starts setting in that starts

  236. to pull me back.

  237. Forgiveness is a big one. Let's say you

  238. mess up and you know you messed up a and

  239. and you get to go God's challenging you

  240. to go confess that and ask for

  241. forgiveness. It's the right thing to do.

  242. That's the play on the playbook. Right

  243. now I don't know if you guys have read

  244. the playbook, but that's in there.

  245. Right? Go make it right. So, hey, I

  246. messed up. And and uh man, uh some

  247. sometimes I've been standing there face

  248. to face, and

  249. there's something that starts to grip

  250. me.

  251. There's something that starts to hold me

  252. back. And I've even had moments like

  253. that that I fell short and I didn't

  254. follow through

  255. because of my own flesh, my own anxiety,

  256. my own fear stepped in and held me back.

  257. The Bible says to know the good you

  258. ought to do and don't do it for you is

  259. sin.

  260. Maybe it's quitting something, man.

  261. God's been on you and you're supposed to

  262. lay that thing down and you know it's

  263. not right. You know it's not healthy.

  264. You know it's not God. And so so you got

  265. the play before you and so God's

  266. challenging you to do that. You go,

  267. "Man, all right, I'm going to do it."

  268. I quit smoking cigarettes like 315

  269. times.

  270. That was a tough one, man. That was good

  271. to break good to break free from that

  272. smoke for 10 years. And and uh yeah,

  273. this was back in the 90s. I used to wear

  274. the T-shirts with the pocket.

  275. You'll see those hardly, you know,

  276. >> but throughout throughout my day, I'd be

  277. like I'd be reaching and I'm like, you

  278. know, the the the struggle, the

  279. temptation

  280. uh overtook the passion I had to lay it

  281. down.

  282. So, how do we get past the knowing the

  283. good, knowing the play? How do we get

  284. past that to where we're actually in

  285. position

  286. to go do what we know we need to do?

  287. That's what God wants to tackle

  288. with us today.

  289. How do we move from the plan to

  290. performance,

  291. from the call to courage,

  292. from the assignment

  293. to being equipped for battle?

  294. So, how do we carry this thing out? I

  295. want to talk to you today. God uh gave

  296. me an idea of two essential huddles. Say

  297. huddle.

  298. >> Huddle.

  299. >> Man, stick with me. Who who likes

  300. football?

  301. >> Yeah,

  302. >> man.

  303. I watched a good game yesterday, man. It

  304. was

  305. >> good, man. We went back and forth. It

  306. was a good just a good game, man. And me

  307. and a couple of the kids, not all my

  308. kids like football. A couple of kids. We

  309. had some snacks. We're hanging out and

  310. watching the game. Man, there's two

  311. essential huddles in the faith. If

  312. you're taking notes, write these down.

  313. The first is what I'm calling the holy

  314. huddle. Say holy.

  315. >> Holy.

  316. The second is what we'll call the team

  317. huddle, also known as the church huddle.

  318. And we get the play from the playbook.

  319. But catch this. We get the faith from

  320. the huddle.

  321. The Bible says that faith comes by

  322. hearing.

  323. >> Faith comes by what?

  324. >> Faith comes by hearing and hearing by

  325. the word of God.

  326. We get the play from the playbook, but

  327. we get the faith

  328. from the huddle. And back to church

  329. Sunday, man. It's back back in the

  330. huddle Sunday for me. And uh in in a

  331. football game, the play doesn't start on

  332. the line of scrimmage. It starts in the

  333. huddle. And really, that's where the

  334. quarterback calls the play.

  335. That's where every player gets, catch

  336. this, the same assignment.

  337. We all know what we're about to go do.

  338. Now, I want you to think about the

  339. individual that missed the huddle and

  340. the game's intense and things are

  341. happening and the quarterback calls the

  342. play on the field and and the goofball

  343. that was running late for the huddle

  344. didn't make it and he didn't hear the

  345. play.

  346. >> He's going to be the one that we're all

  347. picking on watching on the field. And we

  348. have a lot of people that get out on the

  349. field of Christianity that do not know

  350. the play.

  351. I want to hear the play. God, what are

  352. you up to? we'll just do that. That's

  353. what it is. So, every player gets the

  354. same assignment and that's where the

  355. team gets aligned, gets focused, and

  356. gets unified.

  357. >> And that's before they break out to go

  358. face the opponent.

  359. We will never succeed on the field if we

  360. skip the huddle.

  361. >> You'll never succeed on the field if you

  362. skip the huddle. So, today we're going

  363. to talk about two huddles.

  364. First is the holy huddle.

  365. It's what I call the secret place with

  366. God. This is prayer,

  367. devotion.

  368. This is fasting.

  369. This is Sabbath.

  370. This is the word of God. This is the

  371. playbook.

  372. There isn't another playbook.

  373. Let me pull a couple of things out of

  374. the playbook that encourage me. Man, I

  375. love getting alone with God and

  376. especially when the weight of the world

  377. I don't know if you guys go there, man.

  378. The weight of the world's on me and and

  379. uh uh life starts to come. You ever have

  380. those seasons where feels like the walls

  381. of life are kind of closing in?

  382. Yeah.

  383. And uh I'm thankful that I don't just

  384. run to him when the pressure's on, but I

  385. run to them when everything's good as

  386. well. But I love those moments when all

  387. the pressure is on and I get in the word

  388. and God brings me to scripture. If God

  389. be for me, who can be against me?

  390. >> Man, that gives me faith to get on the

  391. field. No weapon formed against me shall

  392. prosper.

  393. >> No weapon formed against me shall

  394. prosper. Amen.

  395. >> Man, I get plays out of the playbook. I

  396. get plays because I'm in the holy

  397. huddle.

  398. I can do all things through Christ who

  399. strengthens me.

  400. >> When the enemy keeps whispering, "You

  401. can't do that. You can't do that. I no

  402. no no no no devil back up because my God

  403. said I can do that because I can do all

  404. things through Christ who gives me

  405. strength.

  406. >> And so we go to this holy huddle

  407. regularly to get the play to get the

  408. game plan to get the courage to get the

  409. faith to get that stirring.

  410. We have prayer meeting here, a group of

  411. us that really love to pray every

  412. Wednesday.

  413. And I don't know how many Wednesdays in

  414. a row I've woke up in the morning. I get

  415. the opposition. My schedule's too busy.

  416. I don't even know if I can make it over

  417. to prayer meeting today. I've got the

  418. weight of the world. I've got the

  419. schedule. My calendar scares the living

  420. daylights out of me half the time when I

  421. look at it. And then I've got other

  422. things that are coming up through the

  423. day, the kids, this, this, and all this

  424. stuff. And I and I and I push through

  425. and I go make it to the holy huddle. I

  426. go make it to to to the destination and

  427. I get in prayer and I start walking

  428. around this room and I start praying and

  429. God starts ministering to me and the

  430. things of the world start to fall off

  431. and I leave there with a peace.

  432. >> Didn't change one circumstance in my

  433. life but it changed my perspective on

  434. the circumstances that I face.

  435. >> It's a holy huddle.

  436. So we're talking about two huddles.

  437. First is the holy huddle. That's between

  438. you and God. The second is the team

  439. huddle. Hebrews chapter 10

    Hebrews 10:24

  440. verse 24.

  441. And let us consider.

  442. Say consider.

  443. >> Consider.

  444. >> Let us consider how to stir up one

  445. another to love and good works.

  446. Let us consider how we can stir up one

  447. another to love and good works. Not

  448. neglecting to meet together,

  449. not failing to come to the huddle as is

  450. the habit of some, but encouraging. Say

  451. encouraging.

  452. >> Encouraging one another all the more as

  453. you see the day approaching.

  454. In my Bible, that's a capital D. That's

  455. when Jesus comes back.

  456. I'm not going to teach esquetology

  457. today. We don't have time for it.

  458. But I got to tell you, that day is

  459. approaching quicker than we think.

  460. >> That day is approaching quicker than we

  461. think. Uh, no man knows the hour.

  462. But I got to tell you, there are some

  463. things happening that we know that we're

  464. right at the brink, right at the end. Do

  465. you know uh just in August uh the Jews

  466. got the got permission for the very

  467. first time to blow the trumpet on the

  468. temple mount? Do you know that was the

  469. first time before the destruction of the

  470. temple in 70 AD? Do you know that there

  471. is prophetic significance about being

  472. able to blow the chauffear to blow the

  473. trumpet on the temple mount? In two

  474. days, say two days

  475. >> is Rashashana,

  476. the Jewish new year, which is a

  477. significant date.

  478. And they are planning to blow the

  479. trumpet again on the temple mount. They

  480. have all of the materials ready for the

  481. building of the third temple. They have

  482. the red heers

  483. ready to rock and roll for the

  484. sacrifice. They've already done practice

  485. run through sacrifice.

  486. My goodness.

  487. Read the book of Revelations and

  488. I got chills talking about it.

  489. I uh share this with you. I have an

  490. opportunity to go to Israel very soon.

  491. And I don't think God could have chose a

  492. better year.

  493. October 20, man. I'm out of here. I'm

  494. going to Israel.

  495. Yeah. Oh, I'm excited. Miss Jimmy. Yeah.

  496. So, I'm going to miss you for a couple

  497. of weeks, but I'm ready to get over

  498. there, man. I just And it's, you know,

  499. the I was on a Zoom call and they're

  500. talking about, you know, getting us

  501. prepared. They said going through the

  502. itinerary. We're going to go down by the

  503. Gaza Strip. And I was like, whoa, whoa,

  504. whoa, hold up. This is safe, right? Cuz

  505. I got a wife and kids I'd like to come

  506. back to, you know.

  507. He said, "Man, are you you step out of

  508. that plane? There's going to be Israeli

  509. military everywhere. You're going to see

  510. more guns than you've ever seen, and

  511. they're going to protect you the whole

  512. trip." And so, man, I get to go get

  513. baptized in the River Jordan. I'm going

  514. to float around on the Dead Sea. I, you

  515. know, I don't know where I'm going to

  516. go. I want to go I'm going to go to the

  517. Garden of Gethsemane where Jesus prayed.

  518. Do you know that there are trees that

  519. are older than 2,000 years? There are

  520. trees in the Garden of Gethsemane that

  521. were there when Jesus knelt and prayed

  522. before he went to the cross.

  523. My good. Oh my goodness. You

  524. >> I heard it.

  525. >> None of that was in my notes.

  526. >> We're talking about the day approaching.

  527. He says, "Hey, make the huddles more

  528. frequent

  529. as you see the day approaching.

  530. Get get in there and get to play

  531. cuz God's up to something."

  532. Back to church Sunday. This is the

  533. huddle. One of them.

  534. You got to get to church.

  535. And the huddle isn't just to get to play

  536. and listen to the coach. I don't know if

  537. you've ever watched a high school

  538. football game. Uh but a lot of times in

  539. the huddle, these guys start acting a

  540. fool. They they're hyping each other up

  541. and they start smacking each other on

  542. the on the pass and they're like, "Come

  543. on, man." They're like, "Boom." And

  544. they're grabbing they're hitting each

  545. other's helmet, you know, and they're

  546. just acting a fool. It's like I'm moving

  547. out. Now we're ready to get on the

  548. field.

  549. >> Yeah. That's what the huddle's for, man.

  550. Stir it up. Smack each other around a

  551. little bit. Get out there and do what do

  552. what God wants you to do, man. Consider

  553. how we can spur one another on towards

  554. love and good works. Quit sitting on the

  555. bench.

  556. >> You got saved for a purpose. We got to

  557. get going.

  558. >> Amen. Yes.

  559. >> Sitting around in a quiet, stale church

  560. for a hundred years,

  561. singing the same songs. God bless you.

  562. Yeah.

  563. God's alive and well. And there's some

  564. things that God wants to do. And we'll

  565. get the courage and the faith when we

  566. keep meeting together and we get in the

  567. huddle and we take the call to stir each

  568. other up.

  569. says, "Not neglecting

  570. to meet together."

  571. We keep coming back to the huddle.

  572. That's not just Sunday morning. We keep

  573. going to the connection group.

  574. Uh we go to the meeting. We jump on the

  575. phone call.

  576. We stay on the team active because the

  577. huddle is where it's h where it happens.

  578. You guys know this. You are who you hang

  579. around.

  580. Yeah.

  581. Uh, at one point before I knew Jesus, I

  582. used to hang around in the unholy

  583. huddle. You guys ever been in that

  584. huddle?

  585. You know that we've all probably been

  586. there. Uh, hanging out with the wrong

  587. crew.

  588. Yeah. Remember hanging out with these

  589. guys, man? And I thought they were

  590. pretty cool and and uh dangerous, you

  591. know? He's like, "G, I'm going to hang

  592. out with these guys." So, I'm hanging

  593. out with these guys and one of these

  594. guys has the stupidest idea that anyone

  595. has ever thought of. And then the other

  596. guy goes, "Oh, that's a good idea, man."

  597. And so all of a sudden we're like, we're

  598. all, you know, you know, I'm pulled into

  599. this thing and I go to do something

  600. absolutely ridiculous that I would have

  601. never done on my own. They're like,

  602. "Man, let's get baseball bats and go

  603. smash mailboxes.

  604. Come on. You guys live through the 90s,

  605. right?"

  606. Yeah. Don't do that anymore. It's

  607. federal offense.

  608. And uh stay out of my neighborhood if

  609. you don't mind.

  610. >> Yeah. But there was never a time that

  611. I'm sitting home in high school by

  612. myself and I'm like, I'm kind of bored.

  613. Yeah, I think I'm going to go smash the

  614. neighbor's mailbox. That was never like

  615. a good idea on my own.

  616. >> Yeah, that was only a good idea because

  617. I was hanging around this unholy huddle.

  618. Now, what did I get from the unholy

  619. huddle? I got courage to go do something

  620. that I would not do on my own. Do you

  621. know when you lay down the unholy huddle

  622. and you step into the holy huddle, you

  623. get courage to do the thing that God

  624. wants you to do that you would never

  625. have the courage to do on your own. We

  626. call it faith.

  627. We call it faith.

  628. Courage. Church is the good huddle. It's

  629. where I get stirred up and I get

  630. energized. I get strengthened.

  631. All right. Two huddles. Let me say this.

  632. Before you're valuable in the team

  633. huddle,

  634. you need to be in the holy huddle.

  635. In other words, before and let me just

  636. put it this way. I I get in the holy

  637. huddle and I get it from God.

  638. Able to lay down all the burdens, cast

  639. all my cares upon him because he cares

  640. for me. Man, I start getting something

  641. in the spiritual realm. And then when I

  642. meet with you, I get it from God and I

  643. give it to you. Let me tell you what

  644. that doesn't always look like. It

  645. doesn't look like, "Well, I was talking

  646. with God this morning. I got a few

  647. things to tell you guys."

  648. Cuz I've been in those meetings

  649. >> and I'm going, "Ah, it doesn't resonate

  650. with

  651. me."

  652. You know, when I get in a holy huddle, I

  653. get peace.

  654. I get faith. I get strength. I get

  655. spiritual power.

  656. I I get all these things and and man,

  657. now I'm now I'm prepared to get into the

  658. church huddle. Now I'm prepared to get

  659. around a group of Christians and and the

  660. Bible says that the spirit itself

  661. beareth witness with my spirit that we

  662. are the children of God. There's

  663. something unique when we get in a team

  664. huddle and man what what what I've been

  665. praying about and what I've been

  666. spending time in the word reading man

  667. somebody else will start to go man that

  668. resonates with me. And then by the time

  669. we're out of this huddle we go man

  670. that's a good idea. We need to yeah

  671. let's do that. And all of us feel this

  672. supernatural faith, this stirring to get

  673. up and get out and get on the field.

  674. >> Matthew 66, Jesus said this. He said,

  675. "But when you pray,

  676. not if

  677. you pray."

  678. Sometimes we have a culture of

  679. Christianity in America

  680. that avoids the holy huddle at all costs

  681. and only comes to church on Sunday.

  682. When do you tuck away with God? When do

  683. you get in a secret place?

  684. We pray over our meals. That's good.

  685. God's looking for a little more

  686. than bless this food.

  687. God's looking for a relationship of

  688. intimacy,

  689. relationship of father and son or father

  690. and daughter. God's looking to bless

  691. your socks off. He says, "When you pray,

  692. go into your room, close the door, and

  693. pray to your father who is unseen. Then

  694. your father who sees what is done in

  695. secret will reward you. It's the secret

  696. place. It's your personal huddle.

  697. Just you and God before you ever step on

  698. the field.

  699. You can't win the battle on the public

  700. field if you're losing the war in your

  701. private prayer closet.

  702. man.

  703. Holy Spirit bringing some conviction in

  704. the house of God.

  705. Moses knew this. We talked about him

  706. last week.

  707. Last week we saw him standing at the

  708. burning bush. That was a holy huddle,

  709. right? Just him and God. God, man. I

  710. want to do that. I'm going to go on a

  711. nature hike, man. I'm hoping God God

  712. talks to me through a bush.

  713. A burning one.

  714. That'd be cool. Here's the thing. If I

  715. came back and told you that God spoke to

  716. me through a burning bush on Puffer

  717. Belly Trail, you'd be like, "This

  718. pastor's a nut."

  719. If you know this, that's why God doesn't

  720. do a lot of stuff like that today.

  721. [Music]

  722. And in this holy huddle, God gave him to

  723. play.

  724. And uh you know, we went through last

  725. week, he came with all the excuses, all

  726. the reasons why. He says, "Lord, please

  727. send someone else." My favorite portion

  728. of that text, please send someone else.

  729. Can I just say this? The play that you

  730. get from God will seem too big for you

  731. to take on. Doesn't even make any sense.

  732. And here's the thing. If you could do it

  733. on your own strength, why would you need

  734. God?

  735. >> Faith.

  736. Moses. Interesting. If you continue to

  737. kind of follow his life throughout his

  738. entire message, he kept going back to

  739. the holy huddle. Say going back.

  740. >> And he go back to the tent of meetings

  741. to huddle with God. He'd have these

  742. little pow-wow prayer sessions with God.

  743. And God I can only imagine Moses being

  744. freaked out most of the journey with

  745. what are we supposed to do now? God,

  746. what what in the world am I supposed to

  747. do now? God says, go tell him this. Go

  748. do this. Take your take your shepherd's

  749. staff. Man, you know when that whole

  750. portion of scripture when uh God's

  751. challenging, he goes, "What? How am I

  752. supposed to do?" He says, "What's in

  753. your hand?" And the only thing he has in

  754. his hand is a stick that is used for

  755. dirty sheep.

  756. Yeah. And I can just imagine like, "What

  757. in the world am I supposed to do with

  758. this thing?" Go smack Pharaoh in the

  759. nose. Like what I mean what is this

  760. thing? And with it 10 plagues come out.

  761. with it the the water I mean the waters

  762. are split and Pharaoh's army gets sucked

  763. at the cross over to dry with it he

  764. strikes a rock and I mean with what you

  765. have in your hand you are more than

  766. capable if we give it to God and let God

  767. give it back to us

  768. >> we get that in the huddle

  769. his public power was directly connected

  770. to his private devotion

  771. I I believe this you'll never have the

  772. strength to face your pharaoh

  773. speak to your mountain to stand against

  774. your giants in your life if you're not

  775. first spending time in the holy huddle.

  776. Three things you get from the holy

  777. huddle from this secret place, this

  778. one-on-one with God.

  779. Number one, it's where you get your

  780. identity. Say identity.

  781. >> Identity.

  782. Not from Instagram likes.

  783. Not from your Tik Tok channel.

  784. >> I'm sorry. There's old people in the

  785. room. Not from your Facebook.

  786. Come on. That was fun. Stick with me,

  787. folks. Hey.

  788. It's where you get your identity. Can I

  789. say this? You don't get your identity

  790. from your job title.

  791. How many times I've been introduced to

  792. individuals, get to have a conversation,

  793. trying to get to know who they are, and

  794. everything is wrapped up around their

  795. title.

  796. >> I think you're more than a job title. I

  797. think you're a son of God, full of

  798. strength and power, the same spirit that

  799. rose Christ from the dead. I think you

  800. have a calling and a plan and a purpose

  801. that came from God that God wants to

  802. fulfill through you. You're more than

  803. just a factory worker. You're more than

  804. just a business. You're you're more than

  805. that.

  806. And you get your identity from the holy

  807. huddle. When God says, "You are my son,

  808. beloved child of God." Number two, it's

  809. where you get your assignment.

  810. >> Say, "Assignment."

  811. >> Assignment.

  812. >> Not from the noise of the world. The

  813. pressures of the world, man, back to it.

  814. I get the pressure coming. I got all

  815. this stuff going. I'm going, man, I'm

  816. starting to feel it.

  817. Yeah. And I've had the pressures of the

  818. world be the thing that forces my hand

  819. to start making decisions. and it

  820. becomes the activator of my life.

  821. I don't get my assignment from the

  822. pressures of the world. I tuck away with

  823. God. I get in the holy huddle and I get

  824. my assignment from him.

  825. Get my assignment from him. Holy Spirit

  826. speaking. This is the way. Now walk

  827. therein. Number three,

  828. it's where you get your power. Say

  829. power.

  830. >> Power.

  831. Not from your own strength,

  832. but learning how to operate in his

  833. strength.

  834. We're insufficient

  835. on our own strength to fulfill the

  836. supernatural calling that God's placed

  837. upon our life.

  838. It's the huddle,

  839. the holy huddle. That's not the only

  840. huddle. Hebrews 10

  841. 24 again it says, "Let us consider how

  842. we may spur one another on towards love

  843. and good deeds."

  844. Spur one another on towards love and

  845. good deeds. I don't know. I've watched a

  846. couple cowboy movies. I grew up on a

  847. farm and I've seen some spurs and

  848. there's nothing that looks exciting or

  849. comfortable from the horse's perspective

  850. about a spur being rammed in his

  851. backside just to get him to move.

  852. It seems slightly cruel and

  853. uncomfortable.

  854. It's interesting that the scripture uses

  855. that. How can I How can I just nudge you

  856. a little bit? How can I poke you a

  857. little bit? because because Christianity

  858. wasn't called uh to be sitting on the

  859. bench, but but how can I nudge you to

  860. get you out there and get you going in

  861. the right direction?

  862. I don't want to be the one in every

  863. church huddle that I'm getting the spur

  864. going, "I guess I'm not doing what I'm

  865. supposed to do."

  866. [Music]

  867. I want to be the one that God's using.

  868. Man, let me inspire you and let me let

  869. me let me speak into that for a minute.

  870. Let me bless you with with something

  871. that might give you some courage and

  872. some faith to get out there on the field

  873. and and do what you know you're supposed

  874. to do.

  875. Second huddle is the huddle with the

  876. church with the people of God.

  877. We are the body of Christ. We are the

  878. team and teams huddle up.

  879. Spur them on. You know spur means to

  880. provoke.

  881. How can I provoke you towards love and

  882. good works?

  883. We challenge each other.

  884. I love you too much to let you get lazy

  885. sitting on the bench.

  886. I love you too much to continue to make

  887. excuses why you can do what God doesn't

  888. want you to do.

  889. I'm going to poke you a little bit.

  890. Bible says to encourage one another.

  891. Encourage is interesting.

  892. Encourage.

  893. It means to pour courage into another.

  894. Isn't that interesting? To encourage. I

  895. want I want to pour some We hang out and

  896. have coffee. I want to pour some courage

  897. in you. Amen.

  898. >> When we meet together on Sunday, I hope

  899. you leave. I hope I'm able to bring a

  900. 55gallon drum of courage in.

  901. >> You leave this place and you can go

  902. right up to any demonic thing, any devil

  903. and say, "Take that devil.

  904. >> I I've been stirred up. I've been

  905. spurred on.

  906. >> Blood of Jesus Christ is against you.

  907. When you're afraid to run the play, when

  908. you're thinking about quitting, you need

  909. a teammate that'll look you right in the

  910. eye and say, "You can do this.

  911. God's with you. I'm with you. We're with

  912. you."

  913. I got to tell you, the devil's favorite

  914. player on the Christian team is the lone

  915. wolf.

  916. the one that isolates and separates and

  917. refuses to huddle. They're the ones that

  918. get tired, get picked off, get defeated.

  919. That's why you being here today matters.

  920. That's why your connection group that

  921. you meet with matters.

  922. It's why serving on a team in the church

  923. matters.

  924. It's in the huddle that we get aligned.

  925. We get focused. We get united. We get

  926. encouraged

  927. before we say team break and have to go

  928. out there and face the world and face

  929. the devil, face the struggles of life.

  930. So, you've been in the holy huddle,

  931. you've been in the church huddle,

  932. you've got the play. Now, what

  933. I'll say this, you need a little faith

  934. to actually run the play.

  935. Hear this.

  936. The play never works if you never leave

  937. the huddle.

  938. The play never works if you never leave

  939. the huddle.

  940. Somehow sometimes we just get in this

  941. place of selfpreservation and protection

  942. where all we do is stay in the huddle.

  943. That's all we do is say we've we've

  944. heard uh so many plays called and

  945. assignments and and man, I got to tell

  946. you, there's a there's a type of

  947. Christianity that comes and hears the

  948. book preached every single week, gets

  949. encouraged, loves it, but never gets out

  950. there and runs a single play.

  951. Got quiet in here. Sheesh.

  952. Play never works if you never leave the

  953. huddle. some point you have to break the

  954. huddle, walk up to the line of scrimmage

  955. and snap the ball. Even when the

  956. defensive line is scary, even when the

  957. defensive line looks much bigger than

  958. you,

  959. even when the enemy's coming. Even when

  960. the pressure's coming, we get up there

  961. and walk by faith and not by sight.

  962. Faith is trusting the play that was

  963. called more than the opposition you see

  964. on the field.

  965. And it's Noah building an ark

  966. >> when there hasn't been any rain.

  967. It's young David

  968. running towards Goliath with no armor,

  969. few stones and a sling saying, "In the

  970. name of my Lord," I mean, he takes off

  971. running. That's that that's that's

  972. getting out of the huddle. Then that's

  973. saying, "God, I got I got a few things I

  974. know that you want me to do and now I'm

  975. going to get up and go do it."

  976. H

  977. Peter stepping out of the boat walking

  978. on water.

  979. A lot of us will hear the message that

  980. you can walk on water.

  981. Who's willing to step out of the boat

  982. and stand there?

  983. It's us as a body of believers

  984. seeing the opportunity to expand God's

  985. kingdom to impact a generation for

  986. Christ.

  987. Stepping up to the plate saying, "Put me

  988. in, coach.

  989. I want to be part of that."

  990. It's trusting that the tithe you give

  991. will accomplish more than the money that

  992. you keep. Amen.

  993. >> It's trusting that the forgiveness that

  994. you offer will heal more than the grudge

  995. that you hold. It's trusting that the

  996. invitation to bring a friend to church

  997. will change their eternal destination

  998. and bring salvation.

  999. It's getting off the bench, getting in

  1000. the game.

1001. Faith is the moment the huddle breaks

1002. and your feet start moving.

  1003. James chapter 2 and verse 17

    James 2 chapter mention

  1004. I'll close with this

1005. says in the same way

  1006. faith by itself

1007. if it is not accompanied by action

  1008. is dead.

1009. You got to get out of the huddle.

  1010. Make it alive.

1011. Faith by itself, if it's not accompanied

1012. by action, is dead. Listen, you can have

1013. all the theology in the world. You can

1014. have the best church community,

1015. but if you don't have the faith to step

1016. on the field and run a play, you're

1017. never going to make it to the goal line.

1018. Back to church Sunday, man. This is

  1019. huddle Sunday.

  1020. This is huddle Sunday. We're we're in a

1021. season as a body of believers, a season

1022. of building, a season of faith, a season

1023. of legacy, uh where God is challenging

1024. us. And and I've served God for a

1025. minute. A lot of the plays from the

1026. playbook that that God gives us as a

1027. church, it's we're going to run the

1028. ball. We're going to get a few yards.

  1029. We're going to we're going to we're

1030. going to keep pushing forward and we're

1031. not losing yards, right? And so we keep

1032. we keep teaming up and God gives us the

1033. play and we're going to we're going to

1034. keep things moving forward and it's

  1035. incremental.

1036. this play that God is calling us to, God

1037. is speaking. I'm stirring in my God's

1038. saying, "Go long. Go long. We're about

1039. to take the field. Go long." And that

1040. that that go long play when God calls

1041. it, it changes everything. We're not

1042. running up the middle anymore. We're not

1043. We're not going to fight the big guys on

1044. the defensive line. Now, now we have

  1045. those

1046. running out in the field and the

1047. quarterback zings it down. We're not

1048. going for two yards. We're not going for

1049. four yards. We're going for the

  1050. touchdown.

  1051. >> We're going for the goal. We're going

  1052. for the win.

1053. >> Look at your neighbor and say, "Go

  1054. long."

1055. >> And we serve a good God.

  1056. >> Amen.

  1057. >> We serve a good God.

1058. >> I asked the worship team to join me up

  1059. here. And

1060. if you would stand to your feet all over

  1061. this place,

  1062. [Music]

1063. know where you're at in your journey

  1064. with God.

1065. You might not even be the rookie yet.

1066. You might be standing here going, "Man,

1067. I don't even know if I'm on the team

1068. yet, but I like what I hear, and I think

1069. I'm ready to put a jersey on."

1070. and you're ready today to take that step

  1071. of faith

1072. to pray that prayer and say, "God, I'm I

1073. want to switch teams. I'm with you.

1074. You want to give your life to Jesus

  1075. Christ.

1076. God's challenging to do that. We want to

  1077. pray with you."

1078. Man, I got to tell you, there's a whole

1079. team that's ready to love on you and

1080. accept you and walk with you. You know,

1081. the Bible says that every time a sinner

1082. repents and gives their life to Christ

1083. that a band of angels rejoices in

  1084. heaven.

1085. So, not only will this team celebrate,

1086. but there's an angelic team that's right

1087. with us celebrating that decision.

1088. You close your eyes and bow your hearts.

  1089. [Music]

1090. And Father, I thank you, Lord, for those

1091. that you've brought to this moment in

  1092. time

  1093. where everything stops.

1094. Father, I thank you, Lord, for those,

1095. Father, in their heart today. They're

1096. ready to make a change and switch teams

1097. and ready to receive you, Jesus, for

  1098. salvation.

1099. Father, I thank you for eternity being

1100. their home today in heaven with you.

1101. Thank you, Jesus. We're going to

1102. continue with every eye closed,

1103. every head bowed, and I'm not going to

1104. embarrass you. I'm not going to ask you

1105. to come forward. But if that's you and

1106. you're in this place and you're saying,

1107. "I'm ready to give my life to Christ."

1108. Would you raise your hand? I want to

  1109. pray for you.

  1110. >> Thank you.

1111. There are others you lift your hand and

1112. say, "I'm ready to join the team. Thank

  1113. you.

  1114. Praise you Jesus.

1115. Thank you Lord. Father, I thank you for

  1116. those commitments God.

  1117. Praise you Jesus.

1118. Thank you Lord. Father I pray that

1119. nothing would hinder authentic divine

1120. spiritual salvation of soul over their

1121. life now in Jesus name. Thank you Lord."

1122. So Father bless them. We're going to

1123. pray this prayer together. And if you

1124. lifted your hand, I want you to pray

1125. this prayer. And man, I just want to

1126. lead us through a simple prayer to

1127. switch teams. And so, would all of you

1128. follow me in this prayer? Would you say,

  1129. "Father in heaven,

  1130. >> Father in heaven,

  1131. >> today,

  1132. >> today

  1133. >> is the day.

  1134. >> I switch teams. I switch teams.

  1135. >> I receive you

  1136. >> as my Lord.

  1137. >> Lord,

1138. >> my coach, my God,

  1139. >> my God,

  1140. >> my father,

1141. >> my father. Father, I thank you.

  1142. >> Father, I thank you

1143. >> for the blood of Jesus.

1144. >> For the blood of Jesus

  1145. >> cleansing me

  1146. >> from all sin,

  1147. >> all unrighteousness

  1148. >> right now.

  1149. >> Right now

  1150. >> in Jesus name

  1151. >> in Jesus name.

  1152. >> I confess with my mouth

  1153. >> Jesus.

1154. >> Jesus Christ is my Lord.

1155. >> And according to your word according to

  1156. your word

  1157. >> today

  1158. >> I'm saved.

  1159. >> I'm saved in Jesus name.

1160. >> in Jesus name. Amen. And can we

1161. celebrate the work of the Lord today?

1162. I'm going to ask our prayer team to join

1163. us up front. In just a moment, we're

1164. going to step back into the atmosphere

1165. of worship and whatever it is that God's

1166. been doing in your heart. If you need

1167. prayer for anything, we want to invite

1168. you up. Let us pray with you and

1169. encourage you before you leave this

1170. house today. God bless you.

  1171. Heat. Heat.
