  1. Heat.

  2. Hallelujah.

  3. Man, it's just a good day to be alive,

  4. isn't it?

  5. >> All right, guys. You heard the girls,

  6. man. We got to step it up,

  7. >> right? And listen, listen. The girls are

  8. doing a retreat.

  9. Oh, no. There's no retreating. We're

  10. going to do man stuff. Yeah, we're going

  11. to a conference, man. We're going to

  12. knock it off the park. Hey, if you get a

  13. chance, guys, uh look up Joby Martin,

  14. Pastor Joby. Um he's he's one of the

  15. keynote guys there. This guy is uh

  16. incredible. Second to none. So, uh make

  17. sure you sign up. And uh I think we can

  18. not only beat the girls, I think we can

  19. double.

  20. We're not retreating. We're advancing.

  21. >> That's right. We're not retreating.

  22. Pastor Jack says we're advancing.

  23. >> Yeah.

  24. >> Yeah. Girls going to be What do you

  25. girls facials and stuff? What do you do

  26. at a retreat?

  27. Praise the Lord. Hey, if you're watching

  28. online, it's a lot more fun in the room.

  29. >> Get here next Sunday. by the way. Hey,

  30. Pastor Ross is coming next week and uh

  31. man, he's just a powerhouse in the

  32. faith. And uh the church that he's

  33. pastoring, oh my goodness, they're

  34. having good church problems. Uh they

  35. just have thousands of people coming and

  36. the parking lot doesn't fit. They have

  37. cars lining up and they their church is

  38. on a major highway, major road. There's

  39. cars lined up all the way down the road

  40. for all services and they're doing

  41. ridiculous amounts of services. And man,

  42. they're in a capital campaign uh trying

  43. to raise I I forget 10 million or

  44. something crazy. Uh so, uh there's an

  45. anointing on his life. I say all that to

  46. say, you don't want to miss next Sunday.

  47. Uh we're going to be here next Sunday.

  48. So, uh he's part of the link board

  49. pastoring up in Big Rapids. Uh us and

  50. our leadership team, we're going south.

  51. We're going to Nashville this week to be

  52. with another board member for Link. uh

  53. because they're doing a conference down

  54. in Nashville, Tennessee called the

  55. Promise Conference, Holy Spirit

  56. Conference. And so, man, we're going to

  57. be we're going to be out there uh

  58. Thursday night, Friday, and Saturday.

  59. And then uh I'm already tired thinking

  60. about it. We get to drive back Saturday

  61. night uh late to be here with you guys

  62. Sunday morning. So, man, we just got a

  63. lot going on and and don't want you guys

  64. to miss out. So, hey, last week was uh

  65. Resurrection Sunday.

  66. Hallelujah.

  67. And uh man, we had a lot of people uh

  68. give their life to Christ. And uh let me

  69. share this with you. We broke a Grace

  70. Summit Church record.

  71. Uh first time in 15 years that we broke

  72. the 300 barrier. We had 301 people uh

  73. attend church Sunday

  74. and uh right around 20 give their life

  75. to Christ. So powerful powerful week.

  76. And I'll say this, if you uh came last

  77. week and gave your life to Christ, uh

  78. we're glad that you came back this week.

  79. >> And I'll say this, coming back this week

  80. is just as important as the prayer that

  81. you prayed last week.

  82. >> Amen.

  83. >> So, you are part of a good church

  84. community. Uh I'm going to preach today

  85. if that's okay. I didn't check I didn't

  86. check with you first.

  87. Yeah. Um, should we should probably pray

  88. or something, huh?

  89. Probably pray. Hey, let's bow our heads

  90. and pray. Father, we thank you, Lord,

  91. for revival breaking loose on the inside

  92. of our souls, Lord. Lord, we didn't

  93. come, Father, just to hear words from

  94. men and to sit in a chair, but Father,

  95. we came to hear from heaven. And Lord,

  96. we're so grateful for the anointed

  97. worship, God, leading us in to your

  98. presence. And father, right now I pray

  99. Lord as children sit at the feet of

  100. their father. Lord, I pray that we just

  101. sit at your feet and we hear words from

  102. heaven today. God, I thank you for the

  103. anointing upon the preaching of your

  104. word that you communicate to us, in us,

  105. and through us.

  106. So Lord, we thank you for it now in

  107. Jesus name. Amen.

  108. >> Well, hey, I'm not holding anything back

  109. today. I'm going to I'm going to uh

  110. release uh the word that God has given

  111. me to give to you today. And the title

  112. of the message today is it's about time.

  113. Look at your neighbor and say, "It's

  114. about time."

  115. >> It's about time.

  116. >> Man, we've been in a series called Time.

  117. And we're going to hopefully wrap it up

  118. today. Uh maybe Ross will continue it

  119. next week. I don't know what he's

  120. preaching, but uh week one on Palm

  121. Sunday, we were talking about uh that

  122. Chyros moment. That's that moment when

  123. God shows up, right? It's it's an

  124. appointment that God had on his calendar

  125. for your life. It's that Lord appointed

  126. moment and how that contrasts a lot of

  127. times with our Kronos moment which is

  128. our calendars and our schedules and and

  129. man, I would much rather God show up uh

  130. than me stick to my schedule. Amen. And

  131. so we kind of unpacked that last week

  132. with Resurrection Sunday. We were

  133. talking about how God is always on time

  134. no matter what. And today I want to flip

  135. it around a little bit. We've been

  136. talking about God's timing for you.

  137. Today I want to talk about your time for

  138. him.

  139. Look at your neighbor and say, "Uhoh."

  140. You know, if God's always on time, and

  141. we know he is. The real question is,

  142. what are you doing with the time that he

  143. gave you?

  144. What are you doing with the time that he

  145. gave you? Ephesians chapter 5 and verse

    Ephesians 5 chapter mention

  146. 15, Paul said this to the church in

  147. Ephesus. He said, "Look carefully then,

  148. how you walk, not as unwise, but as

  149. wise, making the best use of the time

  150. because the days are evil."

  151. And he kicks this thing off. He says,

  152. "Look carefully then how you walk."

  153. Look, look carefully

  154. means to have

  155. full attention,

  156. to do

  157. a careful examination

  158. or an audit. This isn't just a casual

  159. glance at your life. And too often when

  160. it comes to things of spirituality and

  161. Christianity for our own lives, we'll

  162. take a casual glance at how we're doing

  163. and not do a full Holy Spirit inspired

  164. audit.

  165. Oh my goodness. I'm about to drop some

  166. bombs on you today.

  167. What I found is that time is a trutht

  168. teller.

  169. Too often people's mouse and their

  170. calendars

  171. tell two completely different stories.

  172. Man,

  173. I've heard it over and over. Uh people

  174. will say things that God is number one

  175. in my life. God. I mean, he's he's I put

  176. him first in my life and and uh the

  177. issue is is that uh if you look at their

  178. calendar, God gets the leftovers.

  179. People say this, they say, "Man, I just

  180. believe prayer changes things. I believe

  181. in the power of prayer." And when you

  182. look at their life, you look at their

  183. calendar, you look at how much time

  184. they've devoted to prayer, their

  185. calendar would tell something radically

  186. different.

  187. Their

  188. schedule says, "I only pray when I'm

  189. desperate."

  190. I've heard a lot of parents, man, my

  191. family, I mean, God's number one, but my

  192. family's a close second. Put my family

  193. first and man, I I'm devoted to them.

  194. And uh the reality is too often we give

  195. the best part of ourselves to everyone

  196. else

  197. and our family gets our leftovers when

  198. we get home emotionally and mentally.

  199. You want to just come home and

  200. decompress.

  201. What does your schedule say about you?

  202. If you're taking notes, you can write

  203. this down. Your schedule is your

  204. statement of faith.

  205. Your schedule is

  206. your statement of faith.

  207. And years ago, I used to work with

  208. several different churches and uh there

  209. were times when uh I was able to uh get

  210. in to kind of help a church rethink

  211. things and reboot. And man, I would look

  212. at their statement of faith and their

  213. core values and I'm going, "Wow, this is

  214. second to none." And I mean, they really

  215. this is some powerful stuff here. And

  216. and there was this disconnect somehow

  217. between what they believed and what they

  218. were practicing. And if you looked at,

  219. you know, they said, "Man, we're we're

  220. we're an evangelistic church. We love we

  221. love to reach lost people. And I go,

  222. "Well, how many people got saved this

  223. year?" How many people got saved in the

  224. last 10 years? You call yourself an

  225. evangelistic church, but how many

  226. sinners have become saints, now

  227. disciples, turning other sinners into

  228. saints?

  229. Sometimes they didn't invite me back.

  230. We all have statements of faith. You

  231. might not have them uh written down

  232. anywhere, but there are some things that

  233. you have that you believe.

  234. I'm a praying person.

  235. I love God's word.

  236. I believe in the Bible.

  237. Well, how does that fit into your

  238. schedule? Because your schedule is

  239. actually your statement of faith, not

  240. your church attendance,

  241. not the Bible verse that you put in your

  242. Instagram bio.

  243. It's your schedule.

  244. How many know talk is cheap,

  245. right? Talk is cheap.

  246. I love God. I just love God with

  247. everything that I am. Then why do you

  248. live like the devil, man?

  249. Paul says, take a

  250. really close look at your life.

  251. Do a spiritual audit.

  252. What I've learned is that before you can

  253. change the way that you walk, you have

  254. to be honest about how you're walking

  255. right now.

  256. Amen.

  257. I want you to think about something for

  258. me. What if God

  259. pulled up your schedule for the last 90

  260. days?

  261. Our kids, man, we got the the apps on

  262. their phone. Tell us screen time. time.

  263. We like see their screen time and and we

  264. limit them. And have you ever looked at

  265. your own screen time and you feel like

  266. an absolute dork? You're like, I spent

  267. how many hours doing what? Like I am I

  268. just a lazy, worthless bum? You ever

  269. look at that? I mean, the report tells

  270. the story. And in the moment, last week

  271. I didn't think I was a lazy bum. But if

  272. I look at the report, I go, my man, I am

  273. missing the mark. I mean, Tik Tok

  274. demanded my life for a whole week.

  275. What happened, man?

  276. What if God did an audit on your life

  277. and and looked at your schedule for the

  278. last 90 days and just looked at it and

  279. would it line up with what you think

  280. that you believe about God? What you

  281. believe about your own life?

  282. Man, I I believe in the power of prayer.

  283. If I never met you and I didn't know

  284. anything about your life, if I just

  285. looked at your schedule, would I be able

  286. to look at it, how you spent your time,

  287. and go, "That's a praying person. That's

  288. a person that believes in prayer." Would

  289. I be able to look at your schedule and

  290. go, "Man, I think they believe in the

  291. word of God."

  292. Or would I go, "Man, they're busy.

  293. They're a busy person."

  294. Would they even be able to know that

  295. you're a Christian?

  296. Oh, wait. You went to church on Sunday.

  297. That must mean you're a devout follower

  298. of Christ, right?

  299. Look at your neighbor and say, "Wrong.

  300. Sunday's a good start."

  301. What if God did a survey

  302. the last 90 days of your life? The whole

  303. thing, every hour, every decision, every

  304. yes that you made, every no that you

  305. made.

  306. Yes, you're scrolling,

  307. every app.

  308. What if he laid it out in front of you

  309. based on where you spent your time? What

  310. does that say about what you believe

  311. about God?

  312. Some of us might be embarrassed with the

  313. report

  314. as it came back. Do we live our lives in

  315. such a way

  316. that God can smile down on our life and

  317. say, "Gabriel, Michael, come here.

  318. That's my son with whom I'm well

  319. pleased."

  320. Can God smile down on your life with his

  321. stamp of approval

  322. and go, "Man, knocking it out of the

  323. park. Doing great." because that's my

  324. goal in my relationship with him. Amen.

  325. Told you I'm going to be dropping some

  326. bombs today.

  327. Romans 13 11

  328. says, "Besides this, you know the time

  329. that the hour has come for you to wake

  330. from your sleep." Number one in your

  331. notes is it's time to wake up.

  332. It's time to wake up.

  333. Look at your neighbor and say, "Wake

  334. up."

  335. >> Hallelujah.

  336. Oh man, I just heard a song from the

  337. 90s.

  338. Get thee behind me, Satan.

  339. wake up. You know, sometimes I have to

  340. preach myself straight. I preach to you

  341. like I preach to myself. Sometimes I got

  342. to give myself a good oldfashioned kick

  343. right in the old rear end spiritually

  344. and emotionally. I got to say, man, it's

  345. time to wake up.

  346. Time to get up and get going. Amen.

  347. Paul's not writing to unbelievers.

  348. He's writing to the church. People who

  349. say, "Man, I believe in Jesus." But

  350. still need to wake up. He says, "The

  351. hour has come for you to wake up from

  352. your sleep."

  353. Who in here has pets, you guys? Who are

  354. my Who are my cat people?

  355. I'm just playing.

  356. Who are my dog people?

  357. >> Oh my goodness. My people are in the

  358. house of God.

  359. Man, we have a dog at home. Um, his

  360. >> There he is. Look at this. How did he

  361. make it on Time magazine?

  362. Witty, did you do that? I got a famous

  363. critter, man. I didn't even know.

  364. Yeah, I'm from the country. We say

  365. things like critter.

  366. Yeah, that's my dog. His name is Oakley.

  367. Everyone say hi, Oakley.

  368. >> Hi, Oakley.

  369. >> Yeah, he's uh he's loving, man. He's

  370. amazing. He does tricks. Maya taught him

  371. all sorts of cool tricks and and all

  372. this. Really smart uh dog. But as smart

  373. as he is, uh he's one of the dumbest

  374. smart dogs I've ever seen.

  375. You ever have a really smart dog and

  376. then you look at it and you go, "You are

  377. an absolute idiot."

  378. Yeah. Yeah. My dog's an idiot. Uh my dog

  379. has this weird addiction to our bathroom

  380. trash.

  381. Anyone ever had this animal in their

  382. house? Yeah. It's like the bowl of food

  383. and we feed this dog really really well

  384. and there's good food in the and and

  385. then the dog will leave the food there.

  386. He's coming back to it later, but if

  387. you're not looking, he'll go sneak into

  388. the bathroom trash and root around in

  389. that stuff and eat it. And I'm going,

  390. you are one disgusting, vile, filthy

  391. idiot,

  392. right?

  393. Yeah.

  394. Sometimes he goes into the kids' rooms.

  395. Who knows what's hiding underneath those

  396. beds.

  397. Yeah. So, there's these times when it's

  398. just uh myself and the dog home alone

  399. and uh I'm not real good at tending to

  400. things. I get busy, right? Doing stuff.

  401. So, I don't know when the dog

  402. disappears. So, rather than have another

  403. issue where my wife comes back and says,

  404. "Hey, the dog got in the trash again."

  405. What I do when it's just us, I go

  406. through and I go right down the hall and

  407. I throw close all the kids doors, right?

  408. And then I close the kids' bathroom cuz

  409. that's the target area, man. that's the

  410. one that he that he's after. And I make

  411. sure our bedroom is is closed. And man,

  412. we we've trained him. We've corrected

  413. him. Uh again, we feed him well.

  414. And if I'm not looking, he'll sneak

  415. right in

  416. and eat the bathroom trash.

  417. He's not smart enough to not eat the

  418. things that will hurt him. Can I just

  419. talk about humanity for a minute?

  420. Sometimes we're not smart enough to not

  421. eat the things that will hurt us. And if

  422. you can look back in your life and you

  423. go, "Man, God closed this door. God

  424. closed that door." Can you say, "Thank

  425. you, God, for closed doors."

  426. >> Because sometimes God is closing the

  427. doors in our life to protect us from the

  428. things that we we we can't even see it.

  429. We don't even get it. I mean, if I just

  430. let my dog go eat all the trash, the

  431. dog's not going to be feeling. Matter of

  432. fact, he's made himself sick several

  433. times. He's an idiot.

  434. Yeah,

  435. thank God for closed doors.

  436. Uh, you guys ever do this? Now we have

  437. this social media stuff going on. You

  438. ever look back at old high school flings

  439. and you see them now? I'm in my mid-40s.

  440. I've looked looked at some pictures and

  441. I'm going, man, I dodged a bullet on

  442. that one.

  443. You know you've done it. You know you've

  444. done it, right?

  445. Like, man, I got to look back. I'm so ga

  446. glad God closed that door, right? And I

  447. got to tell you, man, God did a great

  448. job. I have an amazing wife.

  449. >> Yeah.

  450. Thank God for closed doors. At the time,

  451. we didn't understand it, but it was God

  452. protecting you from yourself. Look at

  453. your neighbor and say, "Don't be a dog."

  454. >> That wasn't in my notes. That was just

  455. for me.

  456. Don't be a dog.

  457. You know, with my animal, my hope is as

  458. its leader, right? That I could train it

  459. in such a way that I don't have to close

  460. the doors.

  461. That would be my hope for the animal.

  462. I'm not sure. He's cute, but I'm not

  463. sure he's ever going to get there. Maybe

  464. God's hope for us

  465. is that he doesn't have to go around

  466. keep closing all the doors, but that we

  467. have a relationship with him in such a

  468. way. We have a Holy Spirit comforter and

  469. counselor and auditor. We have the we

  470. have the rule book. We have the standard

  471. right here that we would mature to a

  472. place that we can walk into the room and

  473. not eat the bathroom trash.

  474. Amen. Amen.

  475. >> Proverbs 26:11, "As a dog returns to its

    Proverbs 26:11

  476. vomit,"

  477. it's one gross scripture, man.

  478. As a dog returns to its vomit, so a fool

  479. repeats

  480. his foolishness.

  481. If you've been saved for any length of

  482. time, you can identify with that

  483. scripture.

  484. saved, cleaned up, and somehow like a

  485. fool, you go back to the thing that's

  486. going to kill you, separate you from

  487. God.

  488. The goal is the spirit of the living God

  489. would be dwelling on the inside of us,

  490. which means we don't have to keep going

  491. back to the thing that keeps making us

  492. sick.

  493. We have resurrection power dwelling on

  494. the inside of us. transformation power.

  495. It's the power that gets on the inside

  496. of us. The Bible says we're transformed

  497. by the renewing of our mind.

  498. We think about things different. The

  499. things that we used to really desire,

  500. like my dog really desiring that trash,

  501. we no longer have that desire.

  502. We're changed from the inside out.

  503. gets so deep on the inside of us that we

  504. begin to love what God loves and hate

  505. what God hates.

  506. Colossians chapter 3:2 says this, "Set

  507. your minds

  508. on things that are above,

  509. not on things that are on the earth.

  510. Establish your mind."

  511. Doesn't say God's going to do all this

  512. stuff. It's telling you establish your

  513. mind. Set your mind on things above. not

  514. on the things of the earth.

  515. Not just avoid the things of the world,

  516. set your affections on the things of

  517. God.

  518. Here's the truth.

  519. You'll always find time for what you're

  520. affectionate towards.

  521. Always find time for what you're

  522. affectionate towards.

  523. You don't have to force yourself to do

  524. the things that you love. You ever

  525. noticed that

  526. you don't schedule your favorite things

  527. and then have to white knuckle yourself

  528. through it? You run towards it. Man, I

  529. love this. This is this is exhilarating.

  530. This is lifegiving for me. I just I just

  531. love it. And so I so I go do this thing

  532. and man, my calendar somehow makes way

  533. for that. My schedule makes time for

  534. that because I'm affectionate towards

  535. it. What does your schedule look like

  536. with the things of God?

  537. I love God. I just love God. I Does your

  538. schedule

  539. reflect the love that you claim that you

  540. have for God? Man, I'm dropping some

  541. bombs on you today.

  542. So, when you can't seem to find time for

  543. God, when prayer feels like a chore,

  544. reading your Bible feels like a middle

  545. schooler doing homework,

  546. it's not a schedule problem, it's an

  547. affection problem.

  548. It's not a schedule problem. It's an

  549. affection

  550. problem. Matthew 6, Jesus said this. He

  551. said, "For where your treasure is, there

  552. your heart will be." Also,

  553. we use this sometimes for issues of

  554. money.

  555. Jesus is referring to issues of

  556. everything.

  557. For where your treasure is,

  558. there your heart will be also.

  559. Treasure leads, heart follows,

  560. and the time on your calendar reveals

  561. it.

  562. You won't fix your time by managing your

  563. calendar better.

  564. You fix it by

  565. fixing what you treasure. Look at your

  566. neighbor and say, "Wake up."

  567. It's time to wake up to our pre to the

  568. presence of God. It's time to wake up to

  569. our calling,

  570. the calling that we have. It's time to

  571. wake up to the voice of God ministering

  572. to us. God's always on time.

  573. Are you?

  574. So, number one is time to wake up.

  575. Number two, for your notes is time to

  576. redeem your days.

  577. It's time to redeem your days. Ephesians

  578. 5 again he says in verse 15 look

  579. carefully then how you walk not as

  580. unwise but as wise it's a wisdom piece

  581. he says making the best use of the time

  582. because the days are evil

  583. that making the best use of the time is

  584. directly translated from the original it

  585. directly translates redeeming your time

  586. redeeming the time

  587. about that man we we know how to redeem

  588. stuff don't

  589. Who are my coupon people? You guys

  590. redeem coupons.

  591. Yeah, we got some couponers. We redeem

  592. gift cards. If somebody gives you a gift

  593. card for Christmas, man, you go redeem

  594. that. Uh we know how to redeem things.

  595. We'll we'll drive across town for 15

  596. save 15 cents on gas.

  597. >> Absolutely.

  598. >> Right.

  599. >> Yeah.

  600. Takes you three hours to get down Dupont

  601. to get there, but

  602. it's going on with traffic these days.

  603. Golly closed down Clinton. Now DuPont's

  604. all wild and crazy. God bless America.

  605. Talking about redeeming my time. Fort

  606. Wayne. I got I need to redeem some time,

  607. man.

  608. Sat at that red light three times before

  609. I could get through it. All right, that

  610. was just me venting. I feel better. Feel

  611. closer to you now. Thank you for letting

  612. me share.

  613. We know how to redeem things that have

  614. value. Paul says, "Redeem your time."

  615. Here's what I know. God didn't save you

  616. just to get you to heaven. God saved you

  617. because there's an assignment on your

  618. life.

  619. You're called. You're gifted.

  620. You're set apart.

  621. The question isn't, "Do you have a

  622. calling?" Every believer has a calling.

  623. The question is, is your calling on your

  624. calendar? Uh-oh. Man, did you feel that

  625. in the room? Woo, that was heavy.

  626. Is your calling on your calendar, man?

  627. I've had some conversations with some

  628. old boys over the years. I'm thinking of

  629. one in particular. I won't say his name.

  630. Uh my wife's probably the only person

  631. that knows who I'm talking about.

  632. Anyways, talking to this guy, right

  633. back in 1986, I was called to preach.

  634. I'm going,

  635. you've never preached a day in your

  636. life.

  637. call. God called me to preach. I said,

  638. "The gifts and callings of God are

  639. without repentance."

  640. Right? You have a calling on your life,

  641. but your schedule has never caught up to

  642. your calling.

  643. Time invested is the currency of your

  644. calling.

  645. You can write that down.

  646. Time invested is the currency

  647. of your calling. Paul says it's time to

  648. redeem your days.

  649. Most people are not failing in their

  650. calling because they lack the gifting.

  651. God equips those he calls.

  652. They're failing. They're failing their

  653. calling because they lack time

  654. management.

  655. They never give it space. They never

  656. give it schedule.

  657. They never actually sit down and

  658. work on the thing.

  659. Called to preach, but never sat down and

  660. studied.

  661. called to lead, but you've never done

  662. anything to grow as a leader. I just

  663. believe God's called me to be a leader.

  664. Well, go lead something, then.

  665. Go lead something.

  666. God's called you to write. You've had

  667. the same chapter in your head for three

  668. years, but never put anything

  669. typed into your laptop.

  670. called to mentor somebody.

  671. We've never blocked the time to invest

  672. in mentoring. Time

  673. is kind of like a wallet or a credit

  674. card that resets every morning.

  675. Every morning you wake up, there's

  676. another 24 hours put on that.

  677. The question is is how are you going to

  678. spend

  679. each minute?

  680. This is the day that the Lord has made.

  681. We will rejoice and be glad in it. Wake

  682. up, man, and connect with heaven. Get

  683. with God and say, "God, here I am. I've

  684. got I've got some ideas on what my day,

  685. but I What do you got for me today,

  686. Lord? Who do you have me to cross paths

  687. with? Who do you have me to bless? Who

  688. do you have me to minister to? Lord, how

  689. do I how can I serve you today?" Now,

  690. that's making him Lord of your life.

  691. That's salvation.

  692. Not, man. I got got to get my coffee and

  693. get out the door and I rush through

  694. traffic and I get to work and then I get

  695. home and I'm tired and I'm wore out and

  696. I'm late, but I'm going to make it to

  697. church next Sunday.

  698. God, here's another 24 hours

  699. of mine that I offer you.

  700. Getting heavy in the house of God.

  701. Question is, what are you spending your

  702. time on? Paul says, "Making the best use

  703. of the time because the days are evil."

  704. Busyiness is not the same as

  705. fruitfulness.

  706. Business is not the same as

  707. fruitfulness.

  708. I believe this, the biggest ploy of the

  709. enemy for our culture in this day is to

  710. get you so busy and so distracted on

  711. good things that you don't have enough

  712. time for the God things.

  713. Boy, is it so demanding. There's always

  714. more good things to do. More good

  715. things. This, that, that.

  716. I'm hungry for the God things.

  717. Fruitfulness comes by the spirit.

  718. You can be the busiest person in the

  719. room and completely unproductive for the

  720. kingdom of God.

  721. Romans 8:11,

    Romans 8:11

  722. "If the spirit of him who raised Jesus

  723. from the dead dwells in you, he who

  724. raised Christ Jesus from the dead will

  725. also give life to your mortal bodies

  726. through his spirit

  727. who dwells in you." What I've learned is

  728. I'm not able to redeem my time in my own

  729. strength. It has to be because I've

  730. yielded myself to the spirit of the

  731. living God. Amen.

  732. You can't just make a better schedule or

  733. set better habits.

  734. We've tried that. You guys ever do the

  735. New Year's resolutions? I mean, you mean

  736. it this time. You mean it. You're going

  737. to you're going to starting January 1st,

  738. man. I'm going to do this and why I

  739. mean, how many, right? You don't don't

  740. raise your hand. How many of you've had

  741. failed New Year's resolutions already?

  742. Because, man, our human will, we're

  743. fickle.

  744. We're fleshly.

  745. I'm really good. It's a It's a gift of

  746. mine to make commitments that I'm not

  747. able to stick to. Anyone tell on

  748. yourself in church, it's okay.

  749. But when the Holy Spirit gets on the

  750. inside of you and you yield yourself to

  751. that, you get an uncction and you begin

  752. to love what he loves and you know that

  753. that thing came by the spirit and man,

  754. there's nothing that can stop me because

  755. I'm going to go do because God has

  756. called me to. Amen.

  757. Spirit of the living God dwelling on the

  758. inside of us.

  759. Can I say this?

  760. Jesus didn't die on the cross for

  761. behavior modification.

  762. Jesus died on the cross for heart

  763. transformation.

  764. Amen.

  765. That's what salvation is. Psalm 37:4,

    Psalms 37:4

  766. the psalmist said, "Delight yourself in

  767. the Lord and he will give you the

  768. desires of your heart."

  769. He will give you the desires of your

  770. heart. That doesn't mean because you

  771. want a Cadillac, God's going to give you

  772. a Cadillac.

  773. What it means is if you really delight

  774. yourself as a son to the father, you

  775. really delight yourself in the Lord, God

  776. will begin to deposit these healthy,

  777. fresh, godly desires into your heart.

  778. Amen. God will give you the desires of

  779. your heart simply because you delight

  780. yourself in him. Paul says, "Not as

  781. unwise, but as wise." Wisdom is not

  782. working harder. Wisdom is walking by the

  783. spirit of the living God.

  784. It's time to redeem your days.

  785. It's quiet in here.

  786. The reality is you can hear everything

  787. that I'm saying to you today

  788. and walk out of here completely

  789. unchanged.

  790. You can do that year after year after

  791. year.

  792. Not because you don't care,

  793. but because information without power

  794. produces frustration,

  795. not transformation.

  796. That was a mouthful. Let me say that

  797. again. Information without power

  798. produces frustration,

  799. not transformation.

  800. And that's why Jesus after the

  801. resurrection told the disciples, "Go

  802. into the city and wait.

  803. go into the city and wait. Acts 1:4 and

    Acts 1:4

  804. five, I'll paraphrase. He says, "Wait

  805. for the promise of the father." And he

  806. tells them, "You will be baptized with

  807. the Holy Spirit." Power.

  808. How many of you have lived in behavior

  809. modification mentality at some point in

  810. your life? You know the good you ought

  811. to do, but you don't do it.

  812. You really want to. I mean, you mean to

  813. do it. has the best intentions in the

  814. world. And you're trying and you're

  815. trying, you try, you're just not able to

  816. do it. Jesus knew that the disciples had

  817. fleshly humanity in them. And just

  818. because Jesus raised from the dead

  819. doesn't mean that they've connected with

  820. the power of the resurrection yet. He

  821. says, "Hey, listen. You guys go into the

  822. city and wait for me." And Jesus went

  823. away to prepare a place, but at the same

  824. time, he left his Holy Spirit for us.

  825. They got baptized with the Holy Spirit.

  826. They had seen the empty tomb. They had

  827. walked with Jesus. They even at this

  828. point knew that he had rose from the

  829. dead. They had the information.

  830. They didn't have the power.

  831. The information of the resurrection

  832. gives you the reason, but the Holy

  833. Spirit gives you the ability.

  834. What I've learned is that I need both

  835. word and spirit. information and

  836. transformation.

  837. Acts 18 says Jesus said you will receive

  838. power.

  839. Say power.

  840. >> You will receive power when the Holy

  841. Spirit comes upon you and you will be my

  842. witnesses.

  843. Oh man, got to get the Holy Ghost and

  844. fire.

  845. Got to get the spirit moving on the

  846. inside of me. I've got to yield myself.

  847. If I really want power, if I really want

  848. change, information is not enough. I've

  849. got to have the power of the

  850. resurrection. I've got to have the

  851. transformation. I've got to have the

  852. lifegiving spirit inspiring not just

  853. behavior modification, but power.

  854. Number one is it's time to wake up.

  855. Number two, it's time to redeem your

  856. days. And number three, it's time to

  857. live like it's daylight.

  858. You can't turn the lights on by

  859. yourself. You can try,

  860. but it's the Holy Spirit.

  861. We try

  862. resolutions. We try to start fresh on

  863. Monday. We try to delete the app because

  864. it's a problem to us. We try and try and

  865. try and we find ourselves right back in

  866. the dark. Not

  867. because of lack of trying, but because

  868. the light isn't a habit.

  869. The light is a person. I call him Jesus.

  870. John 8:12, Jesus said, "I am the light

    John 8:12

  871. of the world. Whoever follows me will

  872. not walk in darkness,

  873. but will have the light of life."

  874. Jesus didn't say, "Here's here's some

  875. light for you to carry, and turn it on

  876. and off as you please." He said, "I am

  877. the light, and if you walk with me, the

  878. lights in your life will come on."

  879. Well, I was thinking about our house

  880. that we had in Michigan. Uh, so we

  881. bought this house. It was great house.

  882. At the time we bought it, it was an

  883. upgrade, right? And, uh, we had we had

  884. we kept having more kids.

  885. Not sure how that happened, but all of a

  886. sudden, the house started feeling really

  887. small and a great house when we got into

  888. it, but man, it only had one bathroom. I

  889. want you to picture six humans in a

  890. house sharing one bathroom. I know we're

  891. a spoiled generation. People have done

  892. it for gen all these. But I go, man,

  893. this was tough. And four of those humans

  894. are female.

  895. There was a season in my life that I

  896. really struggled getting some bathroom

  897. time.

  898. I just got to use the B. I knock. Daddy,

  899. I'm in here. Okay, sweetie. I'll be out

  900. in a little bit. I'm like, okay. So, I

  901. got to go get my mind off of it, right?

  902. I go do some stuff and and I think I

  903. hear the door open and I'm like, "All

  904. right, it's my turn now." And I go back

  905. in, the door closes, and there's another

  906. little girl in there. And I'm going,

  907. "Golly, man, we need more more than one

  908. bathroom in this house." And so there

  909. were these times that, uh, bathroom was

  910. taken.

  911. Found myself a couple of times not

  912. getting to use the bathroom during the

  913. daytime. And so, uh, you know, the kids

  914. were little at the time. They go to bed

  915. at 8:30, whatever it is. And uh I I go

  916. to bed. I pray with the girls and and go

  917. to bed and and then I'm laying in bed.

  918. I'm going, "Oh man, I got to really use

  919. the bathroom."

  920. Have you ever stepped on a Lego at 2:00

  921. a.m.

  922. That's a spiritual experience. Not the

  923. kind that we're talking about, but man,

  924. it'll take you out, buddy. Yeah. And And

  925. it's interesting. I'm I'm the guy I

  926. don't flip on the lights. I'm not going

  927. to turn I just go into the bathroom. So

  928. I leave all the lights off and I'm smart

  929. boy. Know where stuff is, right? And

  930. there's that that toy on the ground,

  931. man. It about kills you.

  932. Here's what I've learned

  933. about darkness.

  934. Darkness doesn't just make things hard

  935. to see. It makes safe things, ordinarily

  936. safe things, suddenly dangerous. Have

  937. you noticed that? It's a Lego. If it was

  938. daylight,

  939. middle of the day, I would have seen the

  940. Legos and I would have used a wise

  941. decision. I would have stepped over the

  942. Legos. But it's dark in the house and I

  943. didn't see the Legos. And and a Lego by

  944. itself is not a weapon, but it can be.

  945. Romans 13:11, he says, "Besides this,

    Romans 13:11

  946. you know the time, that the hour has

  947. come for you to wake from sleep.

  948. For salvation is nearer to us now than

  949. when we first believed. The night is far

  950. gone, the day is at hand. So then, let

  951. us cast off the works of darkness

  952. and put on the armor of light."

  953. We're saved. We don't walk around in the

  954. dark anymore.

  955. We cast off the works of darkness

  956. and we put on the armor of light, the

  957. Holy Spirit,

  958. Jesus. There's an illumination that

  959. happens in our life

  960. that we can see things that we wouldn't

  961. have been able to see.

  962. Look at your neighbor and say, "You're a

  963. child of the light."

  964. 1 John 1:7, "But if we walk in the light

    1 John 1:7

  965. as he is in the light, we have

  966. fellowship with one another, and the

  967. blood of Jesus, his son, cleanses us

  968. from all sin."

  969. Couple weeks ago, we wrapped up Pride

  970. Detox on Wednesday nights. 40 symptoms

  971. of pride.

  972. Yeah. 47 symptoms of pride.

  973. I was thinking about symptoms of

  974. darkness,

  975. symptoms of walking in the darkness. Let

  976. me give you a few that I was thinking

  977. about.

  978. Symptom one is things that usually are

  979. harmless cause pain.

  980. You know, it's a simple thing. It's a

  981. Lego. Shouldn't have hurt that bad. It's

  982. it's just what she said in a in an

  983. ordinary day. It shouldn't have hurt

  984. that bad. It's a simple thing that that

  985. they didn't invite me. It's a simple

  986. thing. It's just this little thing, but

  987. somehow because I'm in the darkness and

  988. I didn't see it coming, man, it caught

  989. me off guard and it hurt me more than

  990. what it should have.

  991. Things that usually are harmless

  992. cause pain.

  993. You're not over sensitive.

  994. You're not weak. You're just walking in

  995. the dark.

  996. Symptom

  997. number two,

  998. you keep tripping over the same thing.

  999. Keep tripping over the same thing. Same

  1000. sin,

  1001. same argument,

1002. same wall that you keep running into

  1003. over and over.

1004. You're frustrated not because it

1005. happened, but you're frustrated because

1006. you didn't see it coming. Again,

1007. just like God closing those doors in

1008. your life, you couldn't see what you

1009. couldn't see at the time. And thank God

  1010. for closed doors.

1011. But there's a point in our Christianity

1012. when we walk with the illumination.

1013. And we can see without God closing the

  1014. door that that's a door that I should

1015. not go through. And now I have the power

1016. of the Holy Spirit living inside of me

1017. that I'm not going to

  1018. transformation of the soul.

1019. Symptom number three is you're

1020. navigating life by feeling instead of by

  1021. sight.

  1022. No direction, no clarity,

  1023. no vision.

  1024. I don't I don't know if I should take

1025. this job or not. I don't know if I

1026. should be in this relationship. I just

  1027. don't know. I just don't know. I just

  1028. don't know.

  1029. Well, God's

1030. not wanting you to not know.

1031. Matter of fact, the Bible says, "They

1032. that are led by the spirit of God are

1033. the children of God." God wants to lead.

1034. God wants to ordain every step. God

1035. wants to give you the understanding, the

1036. clarity so that we can walk with a

1037. boldness and a confidence. But some of

1038. us are living in the dark and we're

1039. feeling around and we just kind of never

1040. know. And we keep bumping into things.

1041. Just keeping it plain with you.

1042. Tiptoeing through our own life.

1043. Let me just make it through the day.

1044. Let me just make it through this week.

1045. Proverbs 29:18. Where there is no

    Proverbs 29:18

  1046. vision, the people perish.

1047. I'll ask the worship team to join me up

  1048. here. Symptom number four.

1049. The people around you keep getting hurt

1050. and you don't know why.

1051. They never saw it coming

1052. because you're just living your life and

1053. you didn't even realize that you did it.

1054. They're not they didn't real, man. You

1055. just start keep hurting people and and

1056. your sin catches people off guard

1057. because you're hiding in the shadows.

  1058. There's a strange thing about darkness.

1059. When you're in it long enough, your eyes

  1060. adjust to it.

1061. In a dark room long enough, you start

  1062. thinking

1063. it's just what normal looks like.

1064. You stop expecting to see clearly

  1065. instead

  1066. of walking boldly

1067. in the light of God.

1068. Let's stand to our feet all over this

  1069. house.

1070. In just a moment, we're going to

1071. transition to worship and our prayer

1072. team is going to be up here giving you

  1073. opportunity

  1074. to receive prayer.

1075. God ministered to me that today is a day

  1076. to audit ourselves.

1077. Does my schedule confirm what I believe

  1078. about God?

  1079. Am I really transformed?

  1080. Am I really allin?

1081. Am I walking in the darkness or am I

1082. walking in the light? Hebrews 4:16. Let

    Hebrews 4:16

1083. us then approach the throne of grace

  1084. with confidence

1085. so that we may receive mercy and find

1086. grace to help us in our time of need.

1087. Run to him with boldness.

1088. Second Timothy says, "God has not given

1089. us a spirit of fear, but of power and of

1090. love and of a sound mind."

1091. walking through life fearful that I

1092. might get hurt again, that I might hurt

  1093. someone else again.

1094. God has not given you a spirit of fear,

1095. but of power and of love and of a sound

  1096. mind.

1097. Today is the day to step into the

1098. calling that God has placed upon your

1099. life. You have an assignment and it's

1100. not to shrink back again to fear

  1101. in him.

1102. Ephesians 3. In him and through faith in

1103. him we may approach God with freedom

  1104. and confidence.

1105. Can we just say this together? Could we

1106. all say, "God, I'm all in.

1107. >> Not walking in the darkness,

1108. but I'm a child of your light."

1109. Father, we thank you Lord for revival

1110. of minds, revival of spirits, souls,

  1111. being illuminated

1112. by the spirit of the living God.

1113. Father, I thank you for those that have

1114. received of you today, God, that your

1115. Holy Spirit has given us enough of a

1116. uncction, enough of a nudge to move us

1117. that we would serve you well. Father, I

1118. pray God over every soul in this room,

1119. God. That today is the day of reckoning,

1120. Father, that today is the day that we

1121. step up and step out and move forward in

1122. the building of your kingdom. Father, we

1123. lift our hands. We say, "Send us,

1124. Father. I pray that we're never too busy

1125. to love you. That we're never too busy

1126. to serve you. That we're never so busy

1127. that we miss the calling that you have

  1128. on our lives.

1129. Father, today we move forward.

1130. And so Lord, I pray that you bless each

1131. one now in Jesus name. Amen. The altars

1132. are open this morning. Won't you come?
