  2. >> Oh my goodness.

  3. I feel like I was just up here, man.

  4. What happened?

  5. >> [applause]

  6. >> Hey, if you're uh new to Grace Summit

  7. Church, my name is Ben. I have the

  8. opportunity to serve as lead pastor

  9. here. And uh man, I've got a word for

  10. you today.

  11. You guys ready for it?

  12. Praise the Lord. Um I couldn't help but

  13. sense uh you know, this morning through

  14. the first service uh some spiritual

  15. opposition. And so, I'm going to pray in

  16. such a way as we bind up the devil and

  17. all of his desires. Amen? Would you pray

  18. and agree with me? Father, we thank you,

  19. Lord, God, for an open heaven upon this

  20. place, this space right now in Jesus'

  21. name. And Father, by the authority

  22. you've given us in Jesus' name, we bind

  23. any work of the enemy, any powers of

  24. darkness. Father, we say that we are

  25. free in Jesus Christ. And he who the son

  26. sets free is free indeed. And so,

  27. Father, I thank you, Lord, for the

  28. freedom in this place for us to hear

  29. your word

  30. with power, with presence, with clarity.

  31. Father, speak to our hearts. We thank

  32. you for it. Thank you for an anointing

  33. upon the preaching of your word in

  34. Jesus' name. Amen.

  35. Well, hey, we are wrapping up a series

  36. today called designed. Say designed.

  37. And if you've been tracking with us,

  38. it's really simplified uh to one

  39. specific statement that you were

  40. designed by God

  41. on purpose

  42. and with purpose. Amen?

  43. And we And we've been taking a good look

  44. from the word of God what that design

  45. actually is, that we're designed for

  46. power, we're designed for presence,

  47. we're designed for passion, We're

  48. designed for the rescue to storm the

  49. gates of hell. Amen. We're designed to

  50. be hungry because we're a blessed people

  51. and we're not called to live by default.

  52. Man, we're going to go a little bit

  53. deeper today.

  54. And we've seen the design. We've seen

  55. the assignment. But today I want to give

  56. you a fresh mindset.

  57. A fresh mindset, a fresh perspective of

  58. who we actually are in Christ.

  59. The title of the message today is

  60. designed for heaven.

  61. Designed for heaven.

  62. Uh heaven

  63. really

  64. the idea of it in Christianity, and I'll

  65. say this in American Christianity,

  66. we have simplified the idea of heaven as

  67. a spiritual location that we go after we

  68. die.

  69. Amen.

  70. Uh it's so much more than that.

  71. And we want to dig into the word today

  72. to see

  73. the design of heaven.

  74. I think the enemy

  75. would love for us to believe that heaven

  76. is only one day

  77. and not for today.

  78. Amen.

  79. Uh let me tell you what I mean. Matthew

    Matthew 6 chapter mention

  80. chapter 6 and verse 9, Jesus uh taught

  81. us how to pray.

  82. He said in verse 9, "Pray then like

  83. this.

  84. Our Father

  85. where?

  86. Oh man.

  87. Where is the Father?

  88. Our Father in heaven. So, we have direct

  89. communication with heaven.

  90. That's the starting place. Our Father in

  91. heaven, hallowed be your name. That

  92. means that he's holy, that he's above

  93. all things. Amen. There's none like him

  94. in all the earth.

  95. Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your

  96. name. Catch this.

  97. Your kingdom come. What kingdom?

  98. It's the kingdom of heaven. Amen?

  99. He says, "Pray this way. Your kingdom

  100. come, your will be done on earth as it

  101. is

  102. in heaven."

  103. Oh my goodness.

  104. You guys catching this today?

  105. On earth as it is

  106. in heaven.

  107. Mhm. You ever thought about heaven?

  108. I mean, no sickness.

  109. There's not people running around heaven

  110. with coughs and sniffles.

  111. There's no cancer in heaven.

  112. There's no pain in heaven.

  113. There's no tears in heaven.

  114. I've thought about that one because I

  115. think when I see Jesus face to face, I'm

  116. I think I would be emotional. But,

  117. there's no tears up there. So, what do

  118. you do?

  119. Mhm.

  120. Heaven.

  121. Your kingdom come, your will be done on

  122. earth

  123. as it is

  124. in heaven.

  125. That's not a prayer to recite. That's a

  126. mission statement.

  127. Mhm.

  128. On earth as it is in heaven. Catch this.

  129. Verse 11, he says, "Give us this day

  130. our daily bread, and forgive us our

  131. debts, as we also have forgiven our

  132. debtors.

  133. And lead us not into temptation, but

  134. deliver us

  135. from evil." We're seeing some of the

  136. attributes of heaven even played out

  137. further into the prayer.

  138. Forgiveness. Deliverance.

  139. Say on earth.

  140. As it is in heaven.

  141. That's our mission statement. That's our

  142. design. That's our call. Ecclesiastes

    Ecclesiastes 3:11

  143. chapter 3 verse 11 says, "God has set

  144. eternity in human hearts."

  145. God has set eternity in the human heart.

  146. It doesn't say in the heart of a

  147. believer.

  148. It doesn't say in the heart of a

  149. Christian.

  150. It says in the human heart.

  151. That means every person was designed

  152. with eternity set and established on the

  153. inside of them. And when we ask Jesus to

  154. forgive us our sins, when we're washed

  155. in the blood, it unlocks that eternal

  156. peace on the inside of us.

  157. You were designed for more.

  158. Mhm.

  159. It's been on the inside of us the whole

  160. time that

  161. piece of eternity.

  162. There's something hardwired into our

  163. design that knows that this world is not

  164. enough.

  165. Do you feel that?

  166. Yeah. We hear the statement sometimes,

  167. homesick for heaven.

  168. And sometimes our idea is, I can't wait

  169. to get out of this earth

  170. and get to heaven.

  171. Mhm.

  172. Which is good. I'm looking forward to

  173. it.

  174. I'm ready to dance on the streets of

  175. gold.

  176. I'm not a good dancer. I'm going to get

  177. up there and work it a little bit on the

  178. streets of gold.

  179. Yeah. You I mean, did we made it, right?

  180. But why are we waiting until we die,

  181. when Jesus said on earth as it is in

  182. heaven?

  183. Why are we waiting? Why are we just in

  184. this place of just holding on and white

  185. knuckling through the hopefully one day

  186. I'll make it there.

  187. I think we were saved for more. I think

  188. you were designed for more. Say more.

  189. I'm going to make you talk to me today.

  190. Mhm.

  191. It's hardwired into your design.

  192. It's that voice on the inside of us that

  193. looks around and says, man, is this

  194. really it?

  195. You ever been in the motions of life and

  196. your schedule and all the stuff?

  197. Never have I kind of an aching and

  198. nagging piece on the inside of you. You

  199. go, man, there's there's got to be more.

  200. When you're the 9:00 to 5:00

  201. and you're and you're doing another

  202. spreadsheet,

  203. right? You go, "Man, I think I'm made

  204. for more

  205. than than than this.

  206. Sitting in traffic on Dupont."

  207. >> [laughter]

  208. >> I said three times at that turn light

  209. down there trying to get

  210. Yeah.

  211. And I had places to go, man.

  212. You ever sit in the kind of the mundane

  213. pieces of life and go, "Man, I think

  214. there's got to be more to life

  215. than this."

  216. And that nagging, that aching isn't

  217. just meant there to be frustration or

  218. depression. It's not just about

  219. attitude. It's God's design sending you

  220. a signal

  221. of going, "There's more than what you

  222. see.

  223. There's more to life than this."

  224. Let's talk about it.

  225. God set eternity in your heart.

  226. Catch this, so Earth would never feel

  227. like home.

  228. God set eternity in your heart, so Earth

  229. would never feel like home.

  230. You're You're not designed to be

  231. satisfied here.

  232. You're not designed for status quo.

  233. You're designed for presence. You're

  234. designed for passion. You're designed

  235. for power. You're designed for miracles.

  236. You're designed for heaven on Earth.

  237. And why is it that we

  238. too often in the Christian church will

  239. resolve to just going through the

  240. Christian motions

  241. instead of tapping into the design?

  242. We know what the world offers.

  243. We know what the end of that road looks

  244. like.

  245. No matter how much you achieve,

  246. no matter how much you acquire, no

  247. matter how much you accomplish, it never

  248. quite satisfies.

  249. And that's not a problem.

  250. That's your design.

  251. Hebrews 11 is favorite chapter of mine

  252. and verse 13 through 16 kind of

  253. describes the heroes of the faith. They

  254. know those ones from the Old Testament

  255. that we really look up to and man a

  256. powerful faith and it describes the

  257. heroes of faith this way. It says that

  258. they welcomed promises from a distance.

  259. Catch this. Admitting that they were

  260. foreigners and strangers on earth.

  261. It says further down that they were

  262. longing for a better country.

  263. A heavenly one.

  264. Longing for a better country, a heavenly

  265. one. Number one in your notes today,

  266. you are a foreigner.

  267. You are a foreigner. Philippians chapter

    Philippians 3:20

  268. 3 verse 20 says this, but our

  269. citizenship is in heaven.

  270. Our citizenship is in heaven.

  271. Not one day

  272. but right now, present tense, if you've

  273. given your life to Jesus, you have

  274. citizenship

  275. in a kingdom

  276. called heaven.

  277. Just temporarily residing in Fort Wayne.

  278. Pay my taxes here.

  279. Ooh, those went up lately. Sheesh.

  280. Uh

  281. have an address here

  282. but I'm actually a citizen of heaven.

  283. I'm a foreigner.

  284. I'm a stranger. One translation calls us

  285. aliens.

  286. I kind of felt like an alien earlier. I

  287. didn't do it intentional but the Barb

  288. and I as walking past Barb during the

  289. meet and greet and I said, "Greetings."

  290. And she looked at me and says,

  291. "Greetings." And I'm like, "Oh, I feel

  292. like we're aliens."

  293. Greetings, human.

  294. Mhm.

  295. Look at your neighbor and say, "You

  296. don't belong here."

  297. And with that, you don't belong here, a

  298. lot of times the the junk that we allow

  299. into our lives, that's why that

  300. same phrase is living on the inside of

  301. here. When you're going through

  302. sin and despair and all that stuff, you

  303. don't belong here.

  304. You're not designed for here.

  305. You're designed for somewhere else.

  306. Your spiritual passport says something

  307. different.

  308. And I'd like to have a copy of that

  309. passport. Wouldn't that be fun?

  310. Have heaven's passport.

  311. You think it's made of gold?

  312. That'd be cool.

  313. Uh last fall I was in Poland.

  314. And uh

  315. interesting uh

  316. you know, everything's different in

  317. Poland.

  318. There's some similarities, but you know,

  319. the food is different, the language is

  320. different, the street signs are weird.

  321. You know?

  322. And uh

  323. I was on the streets and I'm going, "I

  324. don't think my F-150 would fit here."

  325. The roads are different. Everything's

  326. different. And

  327. we were walking. There was some of us

  328. all together from the states and

  329. uh it was an evening that we kind of

  330. went downtown and kind of living in the

  331. city a little bit, right? It's a city

  332. streets that you just walk in. Everyone

  333. wants to see a motorbike. But man,

  334. there's there's a street performers

  335. singing music and man, it's just there's

  336. people everywhere and it's beautiful.

  337. We're kind of in this old historic uh

  338. town square.

  339. And walking with just a couple of guys

  340. and as we're walking, you get used to

  341. being in a foreign land with the all the

  342. language you know, the language barrier.

  343. And so you kind of keep to your little

  344. group. And the guy walking with us,

  345. we're walking, he goes he goes, "Hey!"

  346. And he calls out a name.

  347. And I'm going, "What What What? We're in

  348. Poland, dude. Who I mean

  349. not like your cousin's walking the

  350. street." And then he goes he goes,

  351. "Hey!" calls his name and the guy comes

  352. over. He was a

  353. missionary

  354. from Ohio.

  355. And he'd been living in Poland for

  356. years. And he comes back to the states

  357. and that guy came over and started

  358. talking. It was like a breath of fresh

  359. air. You know, to talk to somebody from

  360. my home, right? From America.

  361. And you catch the jokes, the nuances,

  362. and try to do that with a foreigner.

  363. It's like, I'm just trying to keep up

  364. here, man. I don't know what we're

  365. talking about. And all of a sudden

  366. there's an American there, and that's

  367. what happens when we run into people

  368. that are authentic followers of Christ.

  369. The Spirit itself bears witness with my

  370. spirit that we are the children of God.

  371. How many times have I had people try to

  372. convince me that they're a Christian?

  373. You don't have to convince me of

  374. nothing.

  375. I know.

  376. Amen?

  377. We speak the same language. We're from

  378. the same country.

  379. Mhm.

  380. The relief you feel when you find

  381. somebody from home

  382. in a foreign country, that's what it's

  383. like when you find kingdom-minded

  384. believers.

  385. Kingdom-minded believers, we speak the

  386. language of heaven.

  387. We know the culture of heaven.

  388. And we understand what forgiveness is

  389. like.

  390. We understand what the love of God feels

  391. like. Amen?

  392. Cuz we've spent time with the king.

  393. Let me say this, maturing in the faith

  394. is learning the culture of heaven.

  395. It's learning

  396. heaven's language, not from a textbook.

  397. Not from a classroom.

  398. From spending time

  399. with the king.

  400. Amen?

  401. Spending time

  402. with the king.

  403. You know, culture rubs off in people.

  404. Language rubs off in people.

  405. Um

  406. when I was in high school, my yearbooks

  407. all say I was most likely to be a

  408. comedian.

  409. I was class clown and

  410. didn't work out so well for my grades,

  411. but

  412. and I've always done impersonations and

  413. you know, the older I get, the less I

  414. do, but I have a lot of fun with my kids

  415. and and I mean, we get going on some

  416. accents, different things. We watched uh

  417. Downton Abbey together. All of a sudden

  418. we're all talking, you know, like that.

  419. Or uh one of my favorites is like the

  420. the good Scottish good Scottish or

  421. Ireland. You know what I mean? And I get

  422. playing around a little bit and have

  423. fun, but uh

  424. man, there's times when I'm around

  425. certain people and I got uh family

  426. uh that that

  427. from the South. You know what I'm

  428. talking about.

  429. Now, they they're not just from the

  430. country, they're country. You know what

  431. I'm saying saying?

  432. And I get hanging out with a Southerner

  433. and all of a sudden uh it rubs off on

  434. the inside of me and I start using

  435. Southern slang a little bit

  436. that I don't use cuz I'm a foreigner up

  437. here in the north.

  438. Like, I thought you were from Michigan.

  439. My and my family's from Arkansas. God

  440. bless America.

  441. I say all that to say that culture and

  442. accent rubs off on the inside of you.

  443. And when you're around kingdom-minded

  444. people, people that have their

  445. citizenship in heaven,

  446. and better yet, you hang out with the

  447. king, the culture of heaven

  448. gets on the inside of you. Your calling,

  449. your desire is to bring heaven to earth.

  450. On earth

  451. as it is

  452. in heaven.

  453. Problem we have a lot of times is

  454. uh people take advice about God

  455. from people that have never met God.

  456. Mhm.

  457. And those people that have never met God

  458. are really quick to broad broadcast

  459. their opinions.

  460. You ever notice that?

  461. Oh man, they got opinions about church.

  462. They got opinions about the Bible. They

  463. got opinions about God.

  464. And listening to them,

  465. I can quickly pick up

  466. they've never even had a conversation.

  467. They've never sensed the presence.

  468. They've never

  469. been around my God.

  470. Mhm. It's like asking somebody in

  471. Warsaw, Poland

  472. to describe America.

  473. You know what a lot of foreigners think

  474. that America is?

  475. We all just drive four-wheel drive

  476. trucks and have AR-15s in the back

  477. window.

  478. And we eat cheeseburgers.

  479. Yeah.

  480. And some of my favorite people to follow

  481. I was watching reels and stuff are those

  482. that actually travel from Europe or from

  483. other locations and spend time in the

  484. states and then they're sending message

  485. back that I'm going, "Man, this

  486. America's actually like this."

  487. Right?

  488. Because if you've never been there, you

  489. form wrong opinions about there.

  490. You can't get accurate directions to

  491. heaven

  492. from people who are not citizens of

  493. heaven.

  494. We're listening

  495. to the other voices.

  496. Here's the other thing

  497. that we need to know that when we travel

  498. internationally, our passport determines

  499. everything.

  500. Where can you go when things get

  501. dangerous, when there's crisis, when

  502. there's war?

  503. You go to the

  504. US Embassy.

  505. There's a lot of things that happen if

  506. you can't get out of the country. You

  507. don't go to the government of that

  508. country, you go to the United States

  509. Embassy and they help safely get you

  510. out.

  511. There's a lot of things that happen,

  512. there's a lot of authority that comes

  513. just having that United States

  514. passport.

  515. Legal representation.

  516. Financial provision. Do you know that if

  517. you get robbed in a foreign country,

  518. they take your credit cards and all your

  519. stuff, you know have any money and you

  520. can't even get home

  521. that you can go to the US Embassy and

  522. they'll finance it to get you home?

  523. And in good American fashion, you do

  524. have to pay it back when you get back to

  525. the states.

  526. Otherwise, we'd have a whole bunch of

  527. people get over there and be like, "I

  528. can't find my credit card."

  529. >> [laughter]

  530. >> Yeah.

  531. Emergency response, diplomatic immunity,

  532. family rescue.

  533. Mhm.

  534. Here's the one that I like.

  535. Uh

  536. if you die in a foreign country

  537. or a loved one dies in a foreign

  538. country,

  539. the US Embassy

  540. helps make arrangements

  541. to get that body back home.

  542. When we die in this foreign land, we

  543. have a passport.

  544. Amen.

  545. But heaven makes arrangement to get that

  546. to get you home. Oh, man.

  547. That's good stuff right there.

  548. Mhm.

  549. Almost started preaching.

  550. Don't start with me, Pastor Dean. Mhm.

  551. People keep asking, "What actually

  552. happens if you start preaching?" I'm

  553. like, "Well, it's been a while, but I'll

  554. start preaching from the back corner. I

  555. guess doing victory laps, to get all

  556. crazy."

  557. Now I'm getting so old I don't like to

  558. run anymore, so.

  559. Mhm.

  560. Heaven's passport.

  561. Christians carry heaven's passport

  562. on earth. When chaos hits, when your

  563. world falls apart,

  564. everything around you is shaking, we

  565. don't look to Washington.

  566. We look to our true kingdom.

  567. Amen.

  568. When it's all falling down around us, we

  569. don't look to the president.

  570. We look to the King of kings.

  571. Number two in your notes is stay true to

  572. your kingdom.

  573. Stay true to your kingdom.

  574. Don't get so caught up in this foreign

  575. land that you live in that the foreign

  576. land starts having a negative impact on

  577. you and you forget where you came from.

  578. Mhm, forget where you came from.

  579. First Peter chapter 2

    1 Peter 2:11

  580. verse 11 says, "Beloved,

  581. I urge you." Say urge.

  582. "I urge you as aliens and strangers."

  583. Catch this, "to abstain from fleshly

  584. lust which wage war against the soul."

  585. There's an urgency there.

  586. Don't get caught up in worldly affairs.

  587. Don't get caught up in all the mess

  588. that's going on. I actually have

  589. exemption status because my passport is

  590. in heaven.

  591. Aliens and strangers. Foreigners, that's

  592. your identity.

  593. Don't get confused as a local.

  594. Temporary passport.

  595. We're in Fort Wayne, but we're not of

  596. Fort Wayne.

  597. Mhm.

  598. Our ultimate allegiance is elsewhere.

  599. Yeah, I think about Daniel

  600. in the Old Testament. He was a foreigner

  601. in a strange land and uh there were many

  602. officials of the day that were trying to

  603. uh

  604. speak identity into him, who he should

  605. be.

  606. And Daniel wasn't having any of it. He

  607. still prayed three times a day, refused

  608. to bow. He maintained heaven's culture

  609. in Babylon's system.

  610. That's you.

  611. You're not supposed to blend in.

  612. You're supposed to stand out.

  613. The people of this world that are

  614. unsaved should look at you like you're a

  615. foreigner.

  616. Sometimes they do.

  617. Man, I remember being unsaved

  618. and looking at Christians like they are

  619. the weirdest humans I've ever seen in my

  620. life.

  621. You guys ever been there?

  622. It's like they are bizarre.

  623. I I just I mean I was really really

  624. unsaved and to look at Christianity and

  625. the church and I'm going, "Man, they

  626. don't even speak the same language. They

  627. don't even act the same." I had an uncle

  628. that got radically saved and I mean,

  629. just went all in for Jesus and the old

  630. jokes that my uncle used to say were

  631. funny when I was a sinner.

  632. And now he uses Christian curse words

  633. like crud.

  634. I remember hearing him just like,

  635. "Crud."

  636. What What is that, dude? You know? Like

  637. your language changes and I mean, you're

  638. not YOU'RE NOT CAUGHT UP in the filth

  639. and the and the dirty and the you're a

  640. foreigner in this land, amen?

  641. You're supposed to stand out because you

  642. belong to another king and another

  643. kingdom.

  644. Colossians chapter 3 verse 2 says this,

    Colossians 3:2

  645. "Set your minds on things above,

  646. not on earthly things."

  647. Establish your mindset

  648. from a heavenly perspective,

  649. not on the things of earth. Your

  650. citizenship determines your culture.

  651. When you

  652. have your mind in

  653. set and established

  654. in heaven, when you know you're a

  655. foreigner here, you stop letting this

  656. world define you.

  657. You stop letting Earth's agenda dictate

  658. your decisions.

  659. I want you to get this in your heart.

  660. Today, I'm fluent

  661. in heaven's language

  662. and foreign to Earth's agenda.

  663. Number three in your notes is carry

  664. heaven's perspective.

  665. Carry heaven's perspective.

  666. If [snorts] you're a foreigner, that

  667. means you see things differently.

  668. You've got a different lens, is

  669. different perspective.

  670. Let me share one of them with you.

  671. Second Corinthians chapter 4

    2 Corinthians 4:16

  672. verse 16.

  673. Paul the Apostle said, "So we do not

  674. lose heart.

  675. Though our outward self is wasting away,

  676. our inner self is being renewed day by

  677. day." Catch this in verse 17. "For this

  678. light momentary affliction is preparing

  679. for us an eternal weight of glory beyond

  680. all comparison

  681. as we look not to the things that are

  682. seen,

  683. but to the things that are unseen.

  684. For the things that are seen are

  685. temporary.

  686. The things that are unseen are eternal.

  687. I I find it interesting the language

  688. that Paul uses here.

  689. He's

  690. echoing the same idea of setting your

  691. mind on on the heavenly realms. But he

  692. says this light momentary affliction.

  693. I don't know if we all grasp what Paul

  694. had been walking through

  695. at this point. He was beaten.

  696. He'd been shipwrecked, stoned, in

  697. prison.

  698. He was hunted like a criminal.

  699. Couldn't settle down anywhere and

  700. establish a a home. I mean, the guy is

  701. that just radical for Jesus. And and

  702. knowing kind of his journey, to hear him

  703. write something like this, this light

  704. momentary affliction. Paul, how do you

  705. How do you get to that mindset? He He's

  706. talking about, "Man, I don't look at the

  707. things that are temporary. I'm not

  708. looking at this pain and the struggle

  709. and all this stuff now. I'm fixing my

  710. eyes upon Jesus, the author and the

  711. finisher of my faith. And the things OF

  712. THIS WORLD PALE IN COMPARISON TO TO MY

  713. HEAVENLY FATHER, to the kingdom of God.

  714. This is light and momentary.

  715. And it's producing something on the

  716. inside of me.

  717. Mhm.

  718. Light and momentary.

  719. Because he had eternal perspective.

  720. >> [snorts]

  721. >> He saw what beyond what was happening to

  722. him

  723. and he saw what was happening in him.

  724. Too often in the flesh, we're so worried

  725. about what's happening to us. Can you

  726. believe what they said about me?

  727. Can you believe how they treated me?

  728. And listen, if you're persecuted for his

  729. name's sake, Jesus calls you blessed.

  730. Pray for blessing.

  731. And when it comes, don't complain

  732. because it didn't come in the package

  733. that you wanted it.

  734. I'm focused on what's happening to me.

  735. I want to take a look at what's

  736. happening

  737. in me.

  738. Temporary versus eternal

  739. perspective. This isn't going to be on

  740. the screen

  741. because I added it later unless they

  742. were really quick between services.

  743. But Matthew chapter 6, I was just

    Matthew 6 chapter mention

  744. thinking about this scripture.

  745. In verse 19, he says,

  746. uh

  747. do not lay, this is Jesus, do not lay up

  748. for yourself treasures on earth

  749. where moth and rust destroy, where

  750. thieves break in and steal,

  751. but lay up for yourself treasures in

  752. heaven where neither moth nor rust

  753. destroy and where thieves do not break

  754. in and steal.

  755. For where your treasure is, there your

  756. heart will be also.

  757. Man, we can invest and invest and

  758. slave and work our whole lives to invest

  759. in things on this earth, but the the

  760. common theme that I've experienced on

  761. this planet is everything is decaying.

  762. Everything is decaying.

  763. Including us.

  764. Pastor Jack, I was looking at my hand

  765. the other day. I was just

  766. driving, had my hand sitting there, and

  767. I looked at my hand and I was like,

  768. "Whose old man hands are those?"

  769. My hands look older than they used to.

  770. Yeah, I'm decaying. I was thinking about

  771. my grandma used to have the hand cream.

  772. I'm not real good at that. I was

  773. thinking, maybe I should get some hand

  774. cream to slow down the decay a little

  775. bit.

  776. Yeah, sometimes I look in the mirror. I

  777. did my hair this morning, and I had all

  778. finished looking good, and then I had

  779. one silver hair all wild and crazy

  780. sticking out. I was like,

  781. "Um, scissors, please. That thing's

  782. disappearing."

  783. Yeah, why do we

  784. invest so much in these things? The

  785. Bible says this life is but a mist or a

  786. vapor

  787. in the eyes of eternity.

  788. You ever take the lid off the pot, see

  789. that little steam? Put it back on.

  790. That's all this life is in the eyes of

  791. eternity.

  792. Stop investing solely in things of the

  793. earth, and begin to store up for

  794. yourself treasures in heaven.

  795. Mhm.

  796. >> [clears throat]

  797. >> What's the old saying? Never seen a

  798. hearse or never seen a U-Haul behind a

  799. hearse?

  800. What is it?

  801. Brinks truck? Yeah, you can't take it

  802. with you. Amen.

  803. There are things

  804. that we can invest in. Store up for

  805. yourself treasures in heaven. Man, I

  806. think of some saints that have gone, and

  807. the investment they've made in people's

  808. lives, the investment they made that

  809. translated into their bank account in

  810. heaven, and I go, "Man, they're going to

  811. have themselves a mansion when they get

  812. up there."

  813. Amen.

  814. Always feel for the poor guy that

  815. prayed salvation his last breath. I'm

  816. thankful he made it in.

  817. I think God's grace is sufficient for

  818. him.

  819. But man, my heart is to invest in things

  820. not that rust, not that decay, but

  821. invest in things that will last

  822. for eternity.

  823. The things of this world are outwardly

  824. wasting,

  825. but we are inwardly being renewed.

  826. Mhm.

  827. Only spiritual things are eternal.

  828. Only spiritual things are eternal, and

  829. here's my challenge to you.

  830. Invest eternally.

  831. Every act of obedience, every sacrifice

  832. made, every prayer prayed,

  833. every time you love when it costs you

  834. something, every time that you forgive

  835. uh when they didn't even deserve

  836. forgiveness. Amen?

  837. That's an investment

  838. in the kingdom. It's a deposit in

  839. heaven's bank.

  840. And that's what citizens of heaven do.

  841. Mhm.

  842. We send money home.

  843. We're just sending it home.

  844. And I'm willing to forfeit some of the

  845. comforts of this world

  846. because I know

  847. that in the next life I have endless

  848. comfort.

  849. Not bound by the world's economy, but

  850. I'm part of heaven's economy.

  851. You know, Romans 12 talks about being

  852. transformed by the renewing of your

  853. mind.

  854. It's a different mindset. It's a shift

  855. in perspective.

  856. Troubles aren't just something we

  857. endure.

  858. But Paul says they're achieving

  859. something. They're producing eternal

  860. glory.

  861. You're designed for heaven.

  862. Designed to have heaven's perspective,

  863. designed to carry heaven's culture.

  864. And part of that design is to look past

  865. the temporary

  866. and see the eternal. Matthew chapter 16,

    Matthew 16:26

  867. verse 26, Jesus said this,

  868. "What good will it be for someone to

  869. gain the whole world, yet forfeit

  870. their soul?"

  871. 1 John 2:17 says this, "The world and

    1 John 2:17

  872. its desires pass away,

  873. but whoever say whoever

  874. whoever does the will of God lives

  875. forever."

  876. Everything has an expiration date except

  877. God.

  878. Number four in your notes, your calling

  879. is to bring heaven down.

  880. Your calling is to bring heaven down.

  881. We're designed for heaven,

  882. but we're not there yet.

  883. So, what are we supposed to do in the

  884. meantime?

  885. Oh, I'll just sit around and wait until

  886. my Jesus comes back.

  887. Just sit around and wait till the

  888. rapture happens.

  889. Well, yeah,

  890. and

  891. we are a carrier of the presence of God,

  892. and we bring heaven to earth. Amen?

  893. Kingdom come, your will be done on earth

  894. as it is in heaven. That's our mission

  895. statement.

  896. We're not waiting to go to heaven

  897. someday, we're bringing heaven to earth

  898. today.

  899. You can write this in your notes. We

  900. don't escape to heaven, we import heaven

  901. to earth. We're importers of heaven.

  902. Well, what is the culture of heaven?

  903. What is the sense of heaven? What is

  904. that peace of heaven? I want to bring

  905. that right to earth, and I and I want to

  906. spread the kingdom of the living God

  907. right here. I I want that light to shine

  908. in the darkness. Amen?

  909. I don't think there's tariffs on

  910. importing heaven, is there?

  911. Sorry, political jokes.

  912. 2 Corinthians 5:20 says this, "We are

    2 Corinthians 5:20

  913. therefore

  914. Let's catch this. We

  915. We are therefore Christ's ambassadors

  916. as though God were making his appeal

  917. through us.

  918. We work

  919. for the embassy of heaven. We are

  920. ambassadors for Christ.

  921. Amen?

  922. Ambassadors don't create foreign policy,

  923. they represent it.

  924. You don't hear the US ambassador in a

  925. foreign country say, "You know, I was

  926. thinking about a few things. I got some

  927. opinions and some ideas of how we should

  928. do this." What do they say? He says, "On

  929. behalf of the president of the United

  930. States and then this is the decree."

  931. That's what we do as ambassadors for

  932. Jesus Christ.

  933. We're a representative

  934. of heaven.

  935. You know what I was thinking about?

  936. You know those uh work vans

  937. that have the the number on the back

  938. says, "How's my driving?" And it says,

  939. "Call 260 blah blah blah blue blah."

  940. Right? Look at your neighbor and say,

  941. "Blah blah blah blue blah."

  942. Okay, I'm making sure you're awake. Hey.

  943. You ever have one of those guys cut you

  944. off?

  945. All right, full confession. Who's called

  946. the number before?

  947. Yeah, we got a few. Yeah, look at there.

  948. Call the number.

  949. Uh

  950. uh

  951. Living as a Christian

  952. you have a passport from heaven.

  953. And it's almost like you have from

  954. heaven, "How's my living?

  955. Call this number."

  956. 555

  957. God, right? Or whatever it is.

  958. Yeah.

  959. So, when you

  960. react like the world does,

  961. when they attack and you jump right back

  962. and you're Whatever the thing is that

  963. you're functioning no longer as a

  964. foreigner to this land, but you're

  965. functioning

  966. as you're native to this land,

  967. you're a representative.

  968. The The other piece is that when you

  969. authentically fulfill the design and the

  970. call,

  971. people notice that.

  972. People recognize that you come from a

  973. foreign land and you represent something

  974. different.

  975. An ambassador for Jesus Christ.

  976. A representative

  977. of the kingdom of heaven.

  978. Every decision you make either builds

  979. or damages heaven's reputation.

  980. Mhm.

  981. You can take that if you need to.

  982. Acts chapter 1 verse 8, famous

    Acts 1:8

  983. scripture, you will receive power

  984. when the Holy Spirit comes on you,

  985. and you will be my witnesses.

  986. What are you a witness to?

  987. Heaven.

  988. What are you a witness to? God.

  989. What are you a witness to? His grace,

  990. his mercy,

  991. his power.

  992. Amen?

  993. And be a good witness.

  994. Be a good representative. Be a good

  995. ambassador to carry out policy. You've

  996. got the policy right here.

  997. Mhm.

  998. Luke 17:20, Jesus said, "The kingdom of

    Luke 17:20

  999. God is not something that can be

  1000. observed with visible signs."

1001. Further down he says, "The kingdom of

1002. God is in your midst."

1003. The kingdom of God is in your midst.

1004. We're carriers of the kingdom.

1005. Not simply waiting to have go to heaven

  1006. one day,

  1007. but we're manifesting heaven's kingdom

  1008. on earth.

1009. Can't remember if it was last week or

  1010. the week before we

1011. I think it was last week talking about

1012. taste and see that the Lord is good.

1013. Taste and see that the Lord is good.

1014. You know, I'm sure people in Poland

1015. have some idea of what an American

  1016. cheeseburger tastes like.

1017. I guess. I even had we'd see some places

1018. that were American themed, little

1019. restaurants and stuff. We didn't go

1020. there cuz I really wanted to taste the

  1021. culture.

  1022. Uh

  1023. but I can imagine

1024. in Poland, person that's never been to

1025. the United States doesn't really know

1026. what a quality American cheeseburger

  1027. tastes like.

  1028. Right?

  1029. I'm not talking Mickey D's. I'm I'm

1030. talking I'm talking black Angus ground,

1031. you know what I'm saying? I'm talking

1032. about the good stuff. Yeah, cooked to

1033. perfection. It's got all the goodies. I

1034. like to make burgers. We do them at

  1035. house. And man, I they're they're

1036. ridiculous is what they are.

  1037. And I don't think it's a really good

  1038. burger. Now, I don't know. I got a big

1039. mouth, so I like mine nice and tall. But

1040. they always squish it and all the

1041. goodies come out of the side.

1042. And I almost disconnect my jaw like a

1043. snake trying to get it in.

1044. You know that thing? And I don't think

  1045. it's a good burger unless there's some

  1046. goodies running down the

  1047. Yeah.

1048. And I just picture being in a foreign

  1049. land. They've never They've never tasted

1050. an American cheeseburger. They have an

1051. idea. They have their version of an

1052. American cheeseburger. Well, man, I

1053. would taste that version. I go, "Buddy,

1054. you don't even know what a what American

1055. cheeseburger tastes like. Why don't you

1056. just sit down? Let me get some

1057. ingredients here. Let me Let me mix

1058. this. Let me cook this thing up. And I'm

1059. going to give you a burger that's going

1060. to change your life, man. Remember who

1061. you are in this moment because when you

1062. take that first bite, you're coming out

  1063. different.

  1064. Yeah.

1065. I just got hungry all of a sudden.

1066. Sheesh. We having burgers for lunch?

  1067. Maybe.

1068. Once you taste the real thing,

1069. everything else tastes fake. Have you

  1070. noticed that?

1071. Messed that poor Polish guy up for the

  1072. rest of his life.

1073. He'll be going to every fake American

1074. restaurant going, "Can I get a burger?"

  1075. Nothing tastes right.

  1076. As a representative,

1077. as an ambassador ambassador, as a

  1078. citizen of heaven,

1079. you offer them the real thing.

  1080. You have the ingredients.

  1081. Get cooking.

  1082. Oh, man.

  1083. Get cooking.

  1084. People need

1085. what God has put in you.

  1086. Amen?

1087. People need to hear the truth. People

1088. need to feel the love of God.

1089. Don't only read the menu, they need to

  1090. taste the meal, man.

  1091. Amen?

1092. Got off my notes again. Where am I?

  1093. Ephesians 7 and McDonald's.

  1094. Ephesians chapter 2 verse 6

    Ephesians 2:6

1095. says God raised us up with Christ and

  1096. seated us with him

  1097. in the heavenly realms.

  1098. You're already seated in heaven, you're

  1099. just operating

  1100. on Earth.

1101. Number five in your notes and I'll try

  1102. to close with this.

  1103. Your citizenship is contagious.

  1104. Your citizenship

  1105. is contagious.

  1106. Mhm.

1107. You ever been around somebody that just

  1108. got back from a

  1109. nice vacation?

1110. And they're overly overly passionate

  1111. about their vacation.

1112. They got all the pictures and all the

  1113. stuff and all the

  1114. keep showing you.

  1115. And it's

  1116. really neat

1117. to see some of that stuff, especially a

1118. place that you've never been.

1119. And it almost can have the effect of

1120. wanting to make you go there.

1121. I've never been to the Keys. I want to

1122. go to Key West, man. What?

1123. That looks cool and you hear all the

  1124. experiences, right?

1125. Do you know that experience is

  1126. contagious?

1127. Experience is contagious. Man, Acts

    Acts 2 chapter mention

1128. chapter 2, you know, when the spirit of

  1129. God falls on 120,

1130. uh signs and wonders break out, Peter

  1131. preaches,

1132. uh that 120 in the upper room became

  1133. 3,000 in 1 day.

  1134. Because experience is contagious.

  1135. Experience is contagious.

1136. Reading the menu is not going to inspire

  1137. somebody.

1138. Amen. Tasting the cheeseburger, now

1139. that's going to inspire somebody.

  1140. Mhm.

  1141. Man.

  1142. I'm a cheeseburger.

  1143. Come take a bite.

1144. We don't just talk about heaven, we

  1145. bring heaven.

1146. We demonstrate the kingdom of God.

  1147. The boldness,

  1148. the unity, the grace,

  1149. the healing, the generosity,

  1150. the power.

  1151. Mhm.

1152. You don't recruit people to heaven.

1153. You infect them with heaven.

1154. The call today is to live as a citizen

  1155. of heaven to see

  1156. through eternity's lens.

1157. To serve as heaven's agent,

  1158. ambassador.

  1159. And one day,

1160. when we pass from this life into the

  1161. next,

  1162. we'll finally be home.

1163. I'll ask the worship team to join me up

  1164. here.

1165. Think about that feeling, man, when you

1166. been on vacation. It was fun. It was

  1167. neat.

  1168. There's something about

  1169. getting to your exit.

1170. When you're getting close, something

1171. starts to shift on the inside of you.

1172. Things start to change. Man, it really

1173. happens when you pull in the driveway.

1174. And you make it inside, get your bags

1175. down, and and uh I'm old enough that I

1176. have a man chair, right?

  1177. >> [music]

1178. >> When I sit in my chair,

1179. you kind of breathe a sigh of relief,

  1180. don't you?

1181. That first night you get to crawl back

  1182. into your bed.

1183. You you know that feeling?

1184. Multiply that times infinity, and that's

1185. what heaven's going to [music] be like.

1186. We have the culture of heaven. We have

1187. the taste of heaven. We have the the

1188. language of heaven, but this one day

1189. you finally get to go home, and I can

1190. only imagine as we're as we're passing

1191. through the pearly gates, the sigh of

  1192. relief that happens.

1193. As you settle into a place that you're

1194. there for the first time, but it's like

  1195. you've

1196. always called it home. There's this

1197. settling peace that overwhelms the soul.

  1198. Mhm.

1199. >> Heaven is on your schedule.

1200. If Jesus Christ is your Lord.

1201. Heaven is on your schedule.

1202. I believe when we get there we'll

  1203. breathe

  1204. a sigh of relief

  1205. like never before.

  1206. Say I'm home. [music]

  1207. I'm home.

  1208. My

1209. aspiration of life is to make heaven

  1210. crowded.

1211. I just want as many as possible to come

  1212. home with me.

  1213. Amen.

1214. I want as many as possible [music]

1215. to get that on the inside and to give

  1216. their life

  1217. to God.

1218. Washed in the blood of Jesus.

1219. And make heaven their home. Stand to

1220. your feet with me all over this room.

1221. Just a moment we're going to worship the

  1222. Lord together and

1223. the altars are going to open.

  1224. Some [music] in here

1225. need to renew their citizenship to

  1226. heaven.

  1227. >> [music]

  1228. >> You need a fresh passport.

1229. Been distracted and caught up

1230. with the world and the world's systems

  1231. and the world's ways.

1232. Been living for earth more than for

  1233. heaven.

1234. Confess you in this place. I want to

1235. encourage you to do business with God.

1236. Say God, I need to reset my focus.

  1237. I've been caught up.

1238. You're ready to an ambassador.

1239. Ready ready to represent your kingdom

  1240. well.

1241. There's those in here that have never

  1242. received their passport.

  1243. Never

  1244. >> [music]

1245. >> really fully given their life to Jesus

  1246. Christ.

  1247. Today is the day.

1248. You don't have to fill out any paperwork

  1249. or

1250. wait down at the BMV. Today you get your

  1251. passport.

  1252. Very simply by

1253. trusting him in your heart and in your

1254. mind and asking him to forgive you and

  1255. to receive you

  1256. as a son or a daughter.

1257. Today you can come home. Father, we

  1258. thank you, Lord,

1259. for freedom in this house.

1260. Father, I'm thankful that this life is

1261. not the only thing that we look forward

  1262. to that we have.

1263. But Father, you have called us

  1264. to heaven.

1265. Lord, you love us enough

1266. to have prepared a place for us [music]

  1267. for eternity.

1268. That we could be with you forevermore, a

1269. place of no pain, of no sorrow,

1270. of no struggle, of no suffering.

1271. A place where we have peace

  1272. forever

  1273. with you.

1274. Father, I pray if there's any soul in

  1275. this room

1276. that it's not set and established that

1277. heaven is their final destination. Lord,

  1278. I pray

  1279. that in this moment

  1280. Father, they would

1281. make a decision to receive you.

  1282. Father, I pray blessing

1283. over their heart right now. Let us

1284. continue in the atmosphere of prayer. If

  1285. that's you,

1286. today you want to do business with

1287. heaven and make heaven your home.

1288. With every eye closed, I want you just

1289. to lift your hand and say, "Pastor, pray

1290. for me. I'm not going to embarrass you.

1291. I'm not going to call you forward."

  1292. Thank you.

  1293. Thank you. Thank you.

1294. Hands going up all over this room.

  1295. Praise you, Jesus.

1296. Lord, I pray for every hand lifted.

1297. Father, I pray for those couple of hands

1298. that needed to be lifted, but didn't

  1299. raise.

  1300. Lord, I speak salvation.

  1301. I speak deliverance. I speak healing

  1302. into their hearts. [music]

  1303. Thank you, Jesus.

1304. Thank you, Lord. We're all going to pray

1305. together, and if you lifted your hand

1306. and pray this prayer, and if you

1307. are sincere and true in your heart,

1308. today is a day of salvation for you.

1309. Could we all pray this together? Father

  1310. in heaven,

  1311. I receive

  1312. salvation

  1313. now

  1314. in Jesus' name.

1315. I confess with my mouth

  1316. I'm a sinner,

  1317. and I need you.

  1318. Forgive me.

  1319. Wash me.

  1320. Cleanse me.

  1321. I receive

  1322. my passport,

  1323. my citizenship

  1324. in heaven

  1325. right now

  1326. in Jesus' name.

1327. And according to your word,

  1328. I'm saved.

  1329. I'm saved

  1330. in Jesus' name.

  1331. Amen.

1332. Praise the Lord. Can we celebrate the

  1333. work of God today?

  1334. >> [applause]

  1335. [music]

1336. >> These altars are open for every need in

1337. this house. If you need prayer for

  1338. anything,

1339. whether it's emotional or physical,

  1340. whether it's a

1341. need for somebody else or for yourself,

1342. I want to encourage you to come to an

  1343. altar of prayer

1344. and let us agree with you in faith

1345. for the miracle working power

  1346. in your life.

1347. The altars are open, won't you come?
