  1. Okay.

  2. Oh yeah.

  3. Okay.

  4. Oh minute.

  5. Hallelujah. Grace Summit Church, how we

  6. feeling today?

  7. You guys ready to spend summer together,

  8. man?

  9. The music's still playing. That's cool.

  10. Hey, if you're a first- time guest with

  11. us, my name is Ben. I have the

  12. opportunity to serve as lead pastor. Uh,

  13. are you guys ready for the word of God?

  14. >> All right, about 60% of you are you guys

  15. ready for the word of God?

  16. >> Hallelujah.

  17. Pray with me. Father, we thank you,

  18. Lord, for a fresh stirring, a fresh

  19. revival, a fresh awakening on the inside

  20. of us. Father, we didn't come to hear

  21. from men, but Lord, we came to hear from

  22. you. And so, Father, I thank you for

  23. your Holy Spirit bringing revelation,

  24. impartation of grace and mercy into our

  25. lives. Father, our heart is to be more

  26. like Jesus. God, I pray that you would

  27. speak to us today in such a way, Father,

  28. as to change us from the inside out.

  29. And so, Lord, your will be accomplished.

  30. I thank you for the anointing upon the

  31. preaching of your word in Jesus name.

  32. Amen. I want to open with a question

  33. today.

  34. uh serving God. Uh many of us have been

  35. serving God for a little length of time.

  36. You ever been in that place where you're

  37. serving God and what you know God is

  38. doing or has done or the answer to

  39. prayer makes zero sense to you? You guys

  40. ever been there where it's like, man, I

  41. I know that I prayed for this thing and

  42. then, you know, I was kind of had this

  43. expectation on how God was going to do

  44. it that when I prayed it and then God

  45. shows up in a huge way and it's

  46. completely different than what I thought

  47. and completely better than what I

  48. thought. Amen.

  49. His plan

  50. sometimes can look or feel like the

  51. wrong plan

  52. until we get to the other side. Here's

  53. what I've learned serving God. God is

  54. not confused.

  55. God is not behind.

  56. It's funny serving God, what I've

  57. learned is that God is he's never

  58. improvising.

  59. He's never adjusting as he goes. Like,

  60. man, this caught me off guard. Right?

  61. And so, we're learning to submit to God.

  62. And today I want to give you a framework

  63. for living in the tension between what

  64. you see or feel and what God is actually

  65. doing. If you have a Bible, you can turn

  66. with me to Isaiah chapter 55 and kind of

    Isaiah 55 chapter mention

  67. want to lay the platform for the

  68. conversation today. Isaiah chapter 55

    Isaiah 55 chapter mention

  69. in verse 8, God says this. He says, "For

  70. my thoughts are not your thoughts,

  71. neither are your ways my ways, declares

  72. the Lord. For as the heavens are higher

  73. than the earth, so are my ways higher

  74. than your ways, and my thoughts than

  75. your thoughts."

  76. The title of the message today is higher

  77. ways, not lower thoughts.

  78. The goal I think for us as believers is

  79. to continually uh put self aside. That's

  80. the lower thoughts. Because too often

  81. I'm serving God from the things that

  82. make sense, right? I can see it. I can

  83. feel it. Man, this makes sense. And I

  84. pray in such a way and then God, I want

  85. you to do it this way. And we we put in

  86. our little orders with God and then God

  87. does it a different way, right? So, it's

  88. higher ways versus lower thoughts.

  89. Here's the question I ask myself

  90. regularly.

  91. Are God's higher ways and higher

  92. thoughts directing my path, or are my

  93. lower thoughts

  94. directing my path?

  95. I've had to reconcile that with God that

  96. my thoughts are lower thoughts. Amen.

  97. Isn't that humbling?

  98. We like to think about ourselves. I

  99. mean, that that was a good idea. I came

  100. came up with that and man, I made some

  101. good choices in college and I made this

  102. good choice getting this job and I made

  103. this good choice marrying so and so and

  104. so do all these things. I start to you

  105. start to think that you no

  106. God does what God does, right? My

  107. thoughts are lower thoughts.

  108. A lot of times we

  109. spend time and energy trying to manage

  110. in our thought life what God already has

  111. all figured out.

  112. I'll say this. God has been intentional

  113. in your life all of your life.

  114. Even the parts that didn't feel

  115. intentional to you. I want to give you

  116. some higher ways

  117. of God today. Number one in your notes

  118. is that God exposes the need before he

  119. fills it.

  120. God exposes the need

  121. before he fills it. Many of us are

  122. familiar with the creation account. It's

  123. an awesome read how all things were

  124. created by him. And in Genesis chapter

    Genesis 2 chapter mention

  125. 2, we see uh God creates Adam and puts

  126. Adam in the garden. And God gives him uh

  127. provision. God gives him purpose. God

  128. gives him dominion. Tells him to take

  129. dominion over all the living things. And

  130. then God says something and if you read

  131. it, uh it'll kind of stop you in your

  132. tracks for a minute.

  133. Genesis 2:1 18, God said this. He said,

    Genesis 2:1

  134. "It is not good." Say not good.

  135. >> Not good.

  136. >> It is not good for man to be alone.

  137. I want to pause right there for a

  138. minute. So God, the creator of all

  139. things, the good God, right, creates all

  140. these things, all the animals and all

  141. the stuff and creates Adam and puts him

  142. in it. And then he stands there and

  143. looks at his creation and pauses long

  144. enough to say, "This is not good for man

  145. to be alone." Do you think it was some

  146. type of accident? felt like God was

  147. improvising here going, "Oh, oops, man.

  148. Adam, you're all alone here, buddy."

  149. Or was there purpose

  150. to the pause?

  151. Amen. Say purpose.

  152. >> God says it's not good.

  153. You can write this down.

  154. God engineered the emptiness

  155. before he engineered the answer.

  156. God gives Adam this task of naming the

  157. animals. And and I picture Adam there in

  158. this paradise. Sin is yet to enter the

  159. world, right? And and he's naming the

  160. animals and he's seeing the buck has a

  161. dough, right? He's seeing all these

  162. animals that have that have these

  163. partners. And I can just imagine what

  164. he's feeling being the only human on the

  165. planet.

  166. God engineered the emptiness

  167. before he engineered the answer.

  168. He was building something in Adam that

  169. could only be built in the waiting. Say

  170. waiting.

  171. >> It's a lot of animals to name. Wonder

  172. how long it took him.

  173. Sometimes I read the Bible, I have more

  174. questions than answers. I'm like, how

  175. how long did that actually take?

  176. scholars uh estimate thousands upon

  177. thousands of different animals uh going

  178. through that process

  179. and none of them corresponded to him,

  180. Adam.

  181. None of them were a match.

  182. God sometimes makes you walk through

  183. what won't work so you recognize what

  184. will.

  185. Adam didn't just receive Eve

  186. as a convenience.

  187. He received her as a remedy.

  188. Amen. To a heartache, to being the only

  189. think we joke about being stranded on an

  190. island. You know what's the one thing

  191. you'd want? I'd want my wife. That's the

  192. one thing I'd want. Sheesh. Her and I

  193. have been through hell and back. We

  194. figure out anything. I'm from the

  195. country. girl, make us a bonfire,

  196. go find me some food, right?

  197. But man, of all the things you could

  198. have, can you imagine being there alone?

  199. What Adam must have been feeling and

  200. going through? And when God put Adam to

  201. sleep and made Eve, can you imagine the

  202. emotional solution that happened?

  203. But he wouldn't have known that he

  204. needed her unless God allowed him to

  205. spend some time without her. Say

  206. without.

  207. >> God exposes the need

  208. before he fills it because God wants you

  209. to recognize the gift when it comes.

  210. Now I want you to jump to John 11 with

  211. me. Uh this is powerful story. This is

  212. where Lazarus is sick.

  213. and his sisters send word to Jesus.

  214. And I want you to think about what Jesus

  215. does here. So there's this urgency.

  216. Lazarus isn't feeling well. They send

  217. word. They know Jesus. Jesus is a friend

  218. of Lazarus. Jesus is the only one that

  219. can bring the solution.

  220. And what Jesus does when he hears the

  221. news is stay there two more days on

  222. purpose before he goes.

  223. For those of you that don't know, I have

  224. a uh 1969 Ford Galaxy 500.

  225. It's really cool. I've owned it for 20

  226. years and it's got a cam in it. It's got

  227. the motor build. I got the Hurst 4 on

  228. the floor with the PY rear end. I mean,

  229. this thing, this thing will giddy up and

  230. go, right? And uh a long time ago, we

  231. were living in Michigan and uh I got a

  232. phone call that my mother had a heart

  233. attack. And I don't know what switched

  234. in me, but I peeled out of my driveway.

  235. I got in that car and it was like, man,

  236. I was on a drag strip just flying

  237. through the gear. I I am Ambulance

  238. hadn't even showed up yet when I got

  239. there because I just felt this urgency

  240. uh to be there with her going through

  241. this this thing. And I want you to think

  242. about Jesus getting news that that my

  243. friend is dying. And Jesus knows he has

  244. the solution. Jesus knows he has the

  245. ability. And he pauses and stays two

  246. more days.

  247. John 11:4

    John 11:4

  248. Jesus says, "This illness does not lead

  249. to death. It is for the glory of God."

  250. What do we do when we're praying and

  251. we're in that place of urgency and and

  252. man, we we know that God's the only one

  253. that can bring the solution and we're

  254. praying and God says, "Not yet."

  255. Do we trust that it's for the glory of

  256. God

  257. or are we upset with God?

  258. And Jesus already knows the ending. He's

  259. not panicking.

  260. He's not scrambling. He delays on

  261. purpose.

  262. And I think about what Jesus

  263. must have been going through on the

  264. inside.

  265. He's not just healing a sick man.

  266. He's setting up for the resurrection of

  267. Lazarus.

  268. Amen. That's higher ways. You can write

  269. this in your notes. Delay isn't denial.

  270. It's deeper setup.

  271. Delay isn't denial.

  272. It's deeper setup.

  273. I believe this. I believe God gave me

  274. this message for you today.

  275. And my sense is that some of you are in

  276. a waiting season.

  277. Amen. You've been praying. You've been

  278. trusting. You've been believing. You've

  279. been fasting

  280. and searching. You know that he's the

  281. only one with the solution.

  282. Sometimes in that waiting season,

  283. it doesn't feel like a deeper setup.

  284. It feels like denial.

  285. It feels like silence.

  286. It feels like God, why have you forsaken

  287. me?

  288. I'm not turning to the things of the

  289. world. I'm praying. I'm trusting. I'm

  290. believing. I'm waiting. And sometimes we

  291. get in our lower thoughts. God, God,

  292. will you ever show up? God, do you even

  293. care about me?

  294. I'm preaching to the choir this morning.

  295. I know you guys have been there, right?

  296. We get in that lower thought place when

  297. serving God and we start blaming God

  298. when God has a bigger plan, a bigger

  299. purpose and he's saying, "Just pause for

  300. a minute because I'm establishing

  301. something in you in the waiting that you

  302. can't get in the getting." Amen. I'm

  303. doing something in this season, in this

  304. period, that if I just gave you what you

  305. know I can give you, you're going to

  306. miss out on a whole lot.

  307. Oh, but those feelings, those emotions

  308. feels like a shutdown, doesn't it?

  309. Yeah. Sometimes we got to wait a little

  310. bit. Hey, you know what I've been doing

  311. lately is fishing.

  312. We got any fishermen in the house?

  313. Yeah. You ever notice, parents, uh, when

  314. your kids get into something, you get

  315. into it a little bit more because you

  316. want to spend time with them. Lincoln's

  317. been really big into fishing lately. And

  318. Maya, uh, started joining us. But, man,

  319. we're just We got fishing gear. We got

  320. all the stuff and we've been going out

  321. fishing. We got some I got some

  322. pictures. You guys want to see pictures?

  323. >> Check this out.

  324. Oh my goodness. Look at that beast.

  325. >> Yeah. I call them fat bass. Oh my

  326. goodness. Get me a nice

  327. Yeah. Got some bluegills here. Uh, you

  328. know, teaching kids how to fish, it's

  329. one thing to catch a bluegill, right?

  330. It's another thing when you get a big

  331. bass on. Uh, the tendency, uh, and even

  332. I have it sometimes is, man, I got a big

  333. one and you want to you want to just

  334. crank that thing in, get him in the

  335. boat. Right. You can't do that.

  336. Sometimes it's wisdom to let him run.

  337. Say, let him run.

  338. Yeah, you got to got to wear them out.

  339. Feed them a little line. Let that drag

  340. loose a little bit. And then and then

  341. the big old fat bass. Say fat bass.

  342. >> Yeah. This is so much fun up here.

  343. You guys should preach sometimes. You

  344. can make anyone say anything.

  345. You got to wear them out. Hey, see they

  346. start to get tired. And then finally,

  347. because if I yank, what am I gonna do?

  348. I'm gonna yank that hook right out or

  349. I'm gonna break my line.

  350. There's wisdom in the waiting.

  351. There's wisdom in the waiting. We can

  352. learn it in the natural, but will we

  353. live under it in the spiritual? There's

  354. wisdom in the waiting. Sometimes God's

  355. letting me run just to wear my own flesh

  356. out so I can actually step into the

  357. spiritual realm.

  358. Yeah.

  359. Let him run.

  360. I believe what God is speaking

  361. over your life today

  362. for those of you that are in waiting is

  363. that God is doing something in the

  364. waiting that he cannot do in the

  365. getting.

  366. Yeah. Look at your neighbor and say,

  367. "Not yet."

  368. Isn't that the human condition, though?

  369. Give me the answer now. I want it my way

  370. right away.

  371. Yeah.

  372. I can't take the tension anymore. Had

  373. several seasons in my own spiritual life

  374. where I wave my little white flag.

  375. Had enough. I'm done. I'm out. God says,

  376. "You can handle a little bit more. Here

  377. you go."

  378. And I'm like, "Wait, did didn't you see

  379. the white flag?"

  380. I thought we were thought we were cool,

  381. man. What's

  382. Yeah.

  383. And then my second round of white flag.

  384. Okay. No, for real. Like, I cannot

  385. handle any more. And then God will go,

  386. "Yeah, you can." And put another third

  387. round. And I'm going, "Uh, whoa."

  388. What's the Bible say? We put it on

  389. bumper stickers and t-shirts and all

  390. this stuff. Um, oh, here it is. Isaiah

    Isaiah 40:31

  391. 40:31.

  392. They that wait upon the Lord shall renew

  393. their strength.

  394. They that wait upon the Lord shall renew

  395. their strength. But why does our flesh

  396. get in the way and we refuse to wait?

  397. God says, "I'll keep you waiting a

  398. little bit longer so I can increase my

  399. strength in you a little bit more.

  400. They that wait upon the Lord shall renew

  401. their strength."

  402. And I want to say this, waiting isn't

  403. passive.

  404. It's not sitting around and zoning out

  405. until God acts or does something.

  406. Spiritual waiting is tuning in until he

  407. speaks.

  408. It's in that position of prayer going,

  409. God, I don't know why there's a delay. I

  410. know it's not a denial, but God, what

  411. are you doing in me in this season while

  412. I wait? What is it that you want me to

  413. receive? What is it that you're

  414. stretching or ripping? What is it that

  415. you're getting out of me? Or what is it

  416. that you're putting in me, God, in this

  417. waiting season? It's active pursuit of

  418. God in the waiting.

  419. Most believers,

  420. or I'll say a lot of believers,

  421. know the sound of their own emotions,

  422. their own doubts, their own denials

  423. more than they know the voice of their

  424. shepherd.

  425. We hear the voice of our anxiety louder

  426. than we hear the voice of God.

  427. Yeah, I was thinking about Jesus

  428. in the wilderness. He's hungry. He's

  429. been fasting for 40 days. The Bible says

  430. he's hungry. Yeah. Famished is maybe a

  431. little bit better of a word. He's

  432. hungry. So, he has this he has this

  433. physical need, right? Uh that needs to

  434. be met. And uh the devil knows it.

  435. And the devil is really good at showing

  436. up with his little script.

  437. to tempt not only Jesus but us. He says,

  438. "Jesus, you're starving to death, man.

  439. Just turn those stones into bread. You

  440. have the power to do that. Take control.

  441. You got a need. It's an obvious need.

  442. You fasted long enough, don't you

  443. think?"

  444. And in our waiting, we can get in that

  445. place of flesh where the enemy will come

  446. with the substitute and say, "You know,

  447. you've been running a pretty good race.

  448. You know, don't you think you deserve a

  449. little

  450. No,

  451. I don't want to take that path.

  452. Jesus doesn't argue with Satan.

  453. Jesus just quotes the scripture.

  454. It is written, "Man shall not live on

  455. bread alone, but every word that

  456. proceedth out of the mouth of God."

  457. That's the same script that the devil's

  458. running on you.

  459. God's holding out on you.

  460. You just need to take matter into your

  461. own hands. You've tried the prayer

  462. thing, but you just now it's time for

  463. you to step up.

  464. You don't fight the devil with your

  465. opinions. Those are lower thoughts.

  466. You fight the devil and win when we

  467. submit oursel to God's higher ways.

  468. Amen. Say, "Take the highway."

  469. >> Man, that's good. I should have I should

  470. have titled it that. Take the highway.

  471. One of the things I've learned in my own

  472. life is what you repeat becomes your

  473. reality.

  474. Sometimes we memorize our misery so long

  475. that we forget God's promises.

  476. I was thinking about Numbers 13.

  477. This is when the spies uh go in towards

  478. the promised land. They see the giants

  479. and the spies come back uh declaring

  480. defeat, right? And then Caleb goes and

  481. looks at the same spies, the same giants

  482. and declares victory.

  483. How is it that two people can look at

  484. the same opposition? One declares

  485. defeat. There's no way I'm not going in

  486. there. They're too big for us. And Caleb

  487. walks up with this measure of faith

  488. knowing that God's on the throne and

  489. says, "Nah, don't not a big deal. We got

  490. we got the victory in the name of Jesus.

  491. Amen.

  492. Same situation, different perspective.

  493. Catch this. Different destiny,

  494. different future. Your perspective can

  495. change everything.

  496. Perspective can change your life. Number

  497. two in your notes is that God's higher

  498. ways have an end before you start.

  499. God's higher ways have an end before you

  500. start.

  501. God's not trying to figure things out as

  502. he goes. Before we even woke up this

  503. morning, God knew how today was going to

  504. go. Amen.

  505. Before you ventured down that road with

  506. that job or that relationship or

  507. whatever it is, before you made the the

  508. foolish investment that had no return,

  509. whatever it is, before you even started,

  510. God knew the end.

  511. Before Lazarus got sick, Jesus had the

  512. resurrection already in mind. God sees

  513. the end from the beginning. And I

  514. believe that he wants us to live from

  515. that vantage point.

  516. Let me help you out a little bit. NBA

  517. finals are done now, but uh my

  518. schedule's too busy. Sometimes I wasn't

  519. able to sit down and watch the game live

  520. and so I get to watch the replay of the

  521. game. And uh the problem is is my phone

  522. tells me the scores and so it pops up

  523. and then I'm like, "Oh, dude, I was

  524. going to watch that tonight, but I saw

  525. who won already." Have you ever watched

  526. a replay of a game that you already know

  527. who won?

  528. Yeah. And then when your team wins, when

  529. you already know the final score and

  530. you're watching the replay, I mean, it's

  531. cool, right? But when the when the

  532. turnover happens and the other team gets

  533. it or the other team's running up to

  534. score, you feel completely different

  535. because I already know the end. Say, I

  536. already know.

  537. >> I already know the who won this thing. I

  538. already read the end of the book. Amen.

  539. I already know that God has my best

  540. interest at hand. And so right now, I'm

  541. just living my faith like I'm watching

  542. the replay. First time I'm watching it.

  543. But God already has the victory.

  544. Yeah,

  545. the fumble happens.

  546. You drop it, you mess up,

  547. you already know who wins the game. It

  548. changes the way that you serve God.

  549. Back to John 11. Jesus finally shows up.

  550. Lazarus has been dead for four days.

  551. Martha comes out running to him

  552. and says in John 11:21

    John 11:21

  553. says,"Lord, if you had been here, my

  554. brother would not have died."

  555. She's in the if only mindset, the if

  556. only loop, right? God, if you'd have

  557. just done what I asked when I when I

  558. asked you to do it. God, if you'd have

  559. just showed up when I I needed this. I

  560. sent word two days ago and you and and

  561. you waited.

  562. If only it's the loop of regret or the

  563. loop of disappointment.

  564. I want you to watch what happens next.

  565. Something shifts in Martha and easily

  566. she could have stayed in the if only

  567. loop. But she makes a choice.

  568. She says what I think is the most

  569. powerful phrase in the chapter. Verse

  570. 22.

  571. She says, "But even now,

  572. but even now I know that whatever you

  573. ask, God, God will give you."

  574. She moved from

  575. he should have been here to even now,

  576. Lord,

  577. even now. And then Jesus says in verse

  578. 23, "Your brother will rise again."

  579. Your brother will rise again.

  580. the if only. That lower thought place.

  581. There I've had seasons of my life that

  582. being stuck in the if only loop almost

  583. took me out.

  584. If only I would have done this. If only

  585. this would have happened. If only God

  586. would have answered my prayers, showed

  587. up here. If only. If only. If only. If

  588. only.

  589. Can I tell you that something miraculous

  590. happens when we leave the ifonies behind

  591. and we say, "God, you're at the helm.

  592. You're above all things."

  593. And even now, the miracle can happen.

  594. Even now,

  595. when I've shifted from the ifonies to

  596. the even nows,

  597. something shifts, breaks open, not just

  598. in my circumstances, but inside of me.

  599. My perspective changes.

  600. And a lot of people

  601. live in that loop permanently.

  602. And it'll drain your faith to live in

  603. the ifonies.

  604. Yeah, you might not have the

  605. breakthrough yet, but even now, he's

  606. working.

  607. Might not have the healing now. Been

  608. praying for years, been trusting and

  609. believing, but even now, God has your

  610. healing. Amen.

  611. Even now. Philippians 3 says this in

  612. verse 13 and 14. forgetting what lies

  613. behind,

  614. straining towards what forward to what

  615. lies ahead. He says, I press towards the

  616. goal,

  617. forgetting those things that lie behind.

  618. Right? We we could go back and recap all

  619. the things that we that that we messed

  620. up on the ifonies. We could we could go

  621. back and recap all the prayers that we

  622. thought God should have answered when we

  623. thought he should have. We we could we

  624. could get stuck in that. But but Paul

  625. says, "Forgetting those things that are

  626. behind and man, I'm I'm pressing

  627. forward. I'm tr straining towards the

  628. goal, the high prize of Christ Jesus."

  629. When you see the ending at the

  630. beginning,

  631. the waiting loses the power to paralyze.

  632. Amen.

  633. Number three in your notes.

  634. God's higher ways might feel too simple.

  635. Ethan, could I get a water?

  636. My throat's a little dry. Talk amongst

  637. yourselves.

  638. We're recording and everything.

  639. That feels better.

  640. God's higher ways might feel too simple.

  641. Second Kings chapter 5 is where we meet

    2 Kings 5 chapter mention

  642. Non. And uh Non is an interesting

  643. character. He's a commander of the Sy uh

  644. Syrian army. This guy's a decorated

  645. veteran. Amen. He's uh feared. He's

  646. respected. Uh he's the kind of man that

  647. walks into the room and gets attention.

  648. Amen. Uh that people uh fear and step

  649. away from. Uh and it's interesting with

  650. all of the power and the uh everything

  651. that he carries, the decorated uh

  652. accolades underneath all of that armor,

  653. he had leprosy.

  654. That'll preach right there.

  655. We can look pretty impressive on the

  656. outside and be dying on the inside.

  657. So non in desperation, he recognizes

  658. this need. It's going to kill him.

  659. People are going to start to notice,

  660. right?

  661. This disease of leprosy. So he decides

  662. to make the trip to go find the prophet

  663. Elisha. He knows that Elisha is

  664. connected to the one true God. He knows

  665. that Elisha is really the only resource

  666. that he knows of that he has to receive

  667. this healing. And so I picture non

  668. showing up at Elisha's house. A bit of a

  669. journey to get there. And he has horses

  670. and chariots and and servants and all of

  671. this stuff. And so a servant goes up and

  672. to summon Elisha. And catch this. Elisha

  673. doesn't even come to the door. Elisha

  674. doesn't even come out to meet non.

  675. This is a

  676. lethal disease. This is a huge need. I

  677. assume that in his arrogance, he waited

  678. too long to even go visit Elisha.

  679. It's progressing.

  680. Looking for his miracle. The prophet

  681. doesn't even come to the door. He sends

  682. a servant out to the door with a

  683. message.

  684. to non

  685. to go wash in the Jordan seven times and

  686. you'll be clean. And I just got to

  687. picture non going, "Man, I got cleaner

  688. rivers back home. Why did I drive all

  689. this way?

  690. And does he even know who I am that I'm

  691. a commander of the Syrian army? That

  692. does he even get it?"

  693. And uh and and non is offended

  694. and begins to leave. I'm not going to do

  695. that.

  696. M how many times have we almost walked

  697. away from our miracle because it didn't

  698. look like what we thought it should look

  699. like?

  700. He expected Elisha to come out, hands

  701. waving, summon the one true God,

  702. miracle, celebration,

  703. all of this grandio stuff. He had this

  704. kind of idea in his mind of a powerful

  705. encounter.

  706. He wanted, I would assume, his

  707. experience to match his reputation.

  708. Anyone in here ever been baptized in the

  709. Jordan?

  710. Seen the Jordan? It's not a very

  711. attractive river. It's really muddy and

  712. mucky. And you go over there, you know,

  713. everyone wants to get baptized in the

  714. Jordan. That's where Jesus got baptized.

  715. And it's all muddy and and gross. And 65

  716. people just got baptized coming out of

  717. the, you know what I mean? Like Like we

  718. don't take baths before we get there.

  719. This is kind of gross. Then I just

  720. picture naming going, "Man,

  721. what? What in the world?"

  722. Go down and clean myself seven times.

  723. And then I picture

  724. non going down

  725. feeling awkward

  726. about it.

  727. 2 Kings 5:13.

    2 Kings 5:13

  728. This is interesting because as non is

  729. leaving Elisha

  730. saying no I don't want to do what you've

  731. said

  732. one of his servants stops stops non and

  733. says sir if the prophet had told you to

  734. do something very difficult wouldn't you

  735. have done it so you should certainly

  736. obey him when he says simply go wash and

  737. be pure

  738. sometimes we will do something difficult

  739. ult before we do something simple,

  740. especially when simple requires

  741. humility.

  742. So non humbles down,

  743. goes to the muddy river.

  744. He has picture this the command. I doubt

  745. he went in in his armor. I can picture

  746. him with his servants and his chariots

  747. and horsemen and all the stuff.

  748. And he's taken off all of his armor to

  749. be obedient after he already was

  750. prideful and said, "I'm leaving. Now he

  751. now he's coming back. All right, I'll do

  752. this whatever this thing is.

  753. He goes down and dips in the river once.

  754. Comes back up and nothing,

  755. twice,

  756. three times,

  757. four times.

  758. For some reason, I picture the fifth him

  759. going, "This is stupid. Quit looking at

  760. me, guys. I'm just I'm done.

  761. This is weird.

  762. Wouldn't that be weird?

  763. He chooses to stay and goes down the

  764. sixth time

  765. and goes down the seventh time and he

  766. comes up absolutely healed

  767. of leprosy cured.

  768. Can I tell you there is no substitute

  769. for simple obedience of what God's

  770. spoken to you

  771. higher ways.

  772. God has told me to do some things that

  773. made zero sense to me.

  774. felt awkward, felt weird. Had an

  775. audience of other people counseling me

  776. otherwise. That's that's too much. That

  777. doesn't make sense.

  778. Sometimes

  779. we have a type of spiritual arrogance

  780. that we want God to show up in this huge

  781. fashion.

  782. And God says, "I told you to read your

  783. Bible every morning.

  784. I told you to keep going back to that

  785. weird church called Grace Summit."

  786. Simple obedience.

  787. When we least expect it,

  788. the breakthrough happens.

  789. Say, "Even now."

  790. Even now, your healing is waiting for

  791. you. Even now, your breakthrough is

  792. coming. Amen.

  793. Even now, I'll ask the worship team to

  794. join me up here.

  795. Non could have quit.

  796. My encouragement to you is to don't quit

  797. in the middle of your obedience.

  798. Don't listen to the enemy

  799. coming. And in your waiting, know that

  800. there's purpose in the waiting. In your

  801. lack, just like Adam,

  802. recognize what God is doing in you.

  803. Amen. Because God will expose the need

  804. before he reveals the answer.

  805. Oh, I thought I knew what I needed so

  806. many times.

  807. didn't have a clue.

  808. Don't let your pride

  809. talk you out of

  810. what simple obedience can walk you into.

  811. Don't walk away from your Jordan.

  812. Let's stand to our feet all over this

  813. house.

  814. God says, "My thoughts are not your

  815. thoughts, neither are your ways my ways,

  816. declares the Lord. For as the heavens

  817. are higher than the earth, so are my

  818. ways higher than yours,

  819. and my thoughts than your thoughts."

  820. And I just speak this over you. God is

  821. not confused

  822. about your circumstance. God is not

  823. running behind with the answer.

  824. He's right on time. He has your best

  825. interest at hand.

  826. And if we're willing to submit, I

  827. believe

  828. I know that we'll get the breakthrough.

  829. Father, we thank you, Lord, that you're

  830. a good God.

  831. Father, we ask forgiveness for the times

  832. that we assumed that you weren't.

  833. Father, we repent of the times that we

  834. blamed you,

  835. accused you of not coming through on

  836. time.

  837. Lord, we submit ourselves not to the

  838. lower thoughts, but God, we submit

  839. ourselves to your ways, to your

  840. thoughts. And Father, we choose to walk

  841. by faith and not by sight. God, to not

  842. get caught up when the enemy is

  843. whispering in our ear. Father, we choose

  844. to be led by the spirit of the living

  845. God,

  846. Father, to walk in obedience to you in

  847. all things

  848. to submit ourselves to your lordship.

  849. So, Father, I pray over every soul in

  850. this room, God. Those that have been in

  851. waiting,

  852. those that have been hungry and seeking

  853. for more, God, I trust that you'll come

  854. through in that perfect moment.

  855. But God, while we're waiting, let us be

  856. active.

  857. Let us be seeking and chasing you in the

  858. waiting to know what it is you're doing

  859. in us in this season.

  860. And Father, when the breakthrough comes,

  861. when Lazarus rises out of the grave,

  862. Father, let us give glory and honor to

  863. you for you doing what only you can do

  864. in our lives.

  865. So, Father, I release blessing over

  866. every soul in Jesus name.

  867. And God's people said,

  868. >> "Amen.
