It's a good day to be alive. Amen.

>> And it's a good day to be a Christian.

>> Amen.

>> Man, we gave our life to Jesus. We could

uh it's holiday weekend. You could be

out on the lake right now going to a you

you could be anywhere,

>> but you decided

>> to sit right here

>> in the presence of our king and worship

and hear the word of God. Can you just

celebrate that for a minute?

>> Well, hey, if you're a guest with us or

new to Grace Summit Church, uh my name

is Ben. Uh I like sunsets and long walks

on the beach.

Oh, wait.

We like to have fun at Grace Summit

Church. Uh, my name is Ben. I have the

opportunity to serve as lead pastor

here. And man, we are going to dive into

the word of God. Would you pray with me?

>> Father, we thank you, Lord, for a

loosening of your spirit in this house.

Father, we didn't come for mediocrity.

Lord, we didn't come to hear a a

positive word, but Lord, we came to hear

the word of God. Father, we came to hear

your words spoken into our spirit.

Father, that we leave this place more

like you than we've ever known possible.

Father, I thank you for the anointing

upon this house, Lord. The anointing to

demolish and break the yoke of bondage.

So, Father, we your children sit at your

feet today with ears wide open, ready to

receive everything you have for us. So,

Father, I thank you for it now in Jesus

name.

>> Amen.

>> Hey, who in here is afraid of bees?

Bumblebees.

those little things. Golly, you got to

watch them, huh? Uh, our shed in our in

our backyard. Um, it's like the beef

fest, man. There's just bees and and all

of my kids are scared of my shed, you

know? I I'll ask Link and I'm like,

"Hey, can you go grab something on the

shed, you know, and he just looks at me

like, I don't want to, Dad." Right? Cuz

there's bees, you know, and I'm trying

to take care of it. It's a whole thing.

But yesterday, we were working on uh

just out in the driveway and had the

power washer out. We're getting ready to

kind of wrap this thing up and Lincoln

has this bee flying around him. He's

freaking out, right? So, I'm trying to

coach him like, "Just chill. You know,

you don't have to flip out every time

there's a bee somewhere around." And so,

I'm just like, "Okay, hold still, right?

No big deal. No big deal." Well, he

doesn't all of a sudden he doesn't see

the bee. He's just like froze, right?

And I'm watching the bee and it's by his

shorts

>> and it's starting to like go up in his

shorts.

>> And so, I said, "Lincoln, run." and he's

like takes off across the driveway,

right? And uh man, bees are are one of

those things like for me personally, if

I know they're there, you know, if I see

them, we're good, you know. Uh but that

one time I was uh doing weed eating and

I had the loud motor going and and all

this stuff. And I'm cleaning off a bank,

weed eating that, you know, the long

stuff. And uh couldn't hear anything,

right? Cuz you got the motor going. And

you guys know those ground bees? Those

things I'm pretty sure are from the

devil,

>> right? We all in agreement. Those things

came from hell. They come out of the

earth. I mean, that's

>> Didn't hear it. Never saw one. I'm just

busy working. And they got up in my

pants. They got in my shirt all I got

stung so many times I lost count. And uh

you know, it's interesting. Uh the

reason I got stung is because I didn't

know they were there.

Today I want to talk about storms.

Spiritual storms of life. I know

spiritual storms are no fun. It's okay.

Nobody ever got destroyed by a storm

that they saw coming.

Amen.

We get destroyed oftentimes by storms

that we don't see coming. So I want to

talk about spiritual storms. Uh want to

talk about continuing the idea of

radical life. um destroy the I'm sorry,

storms are interesting. You know, we

live in a a technology age. And who here

is thankful for the weather app?

You know, we have time to prep. We know

something's coming across the country

and it's going to it's going to hit

whether it's a, you know, big storm,

snowstorm or whatever, and we're we're

able to prepare a little bit. Uh but not

that long ago, most of humanity never

had that type of warning system.

If you've served God for any length of

time, you've been through what sometimes

we would call a spiritual storm.

You ever been through a spiritual storm?

I'm talking a big one. Never saw it

coming. Uh couldn't prepare for it. You

know, if I could prepare for it, if I

had the spiritual weather app, right, I

I would have called in the prayer

warriors a week in advance. I would have

called my pastor and and got some

counsel and and man, I would have been

fasting and praying myself, preparing

because I know this this devastation,

this thing is coming, right? But I

didn't have that. Out of nowhere, you

get the phone call. Out of nowhere, life

happens. Something that you couldn't see

coming.

So, how do we prepare

for a storm spiritually

that we never saw coming? The title of

the message today is radical foundation.

Radical foundation. Last week we kicked

off the series radical life

and we kind of uh unpacked the idea of

radical excellence. That we're not

bringing our leftovers to the king. I'm

not bringing that good enough mentality.

Right? But I'm sold out. I'm all in,

baby. Right? Uh here's what I didn't

tell you last week. When you get serious

with God and you start living in radical

excellence and spiritual fervor and I

mean you're all in.

What I didn't tell you is that storms

start coming.

The enemy loves to mess with those

>> that are sold out for Jesus.

Today I want to give you three things

that we need

to survive the radical life that we're

stepping into.

Before I get to the foundation,

I want to kind of be your spiritual

weather app for a minute. Uh because I

really believe,

you know, Pastor Dan was talking about

rooted.

Uh there's other things. I really

believe that God is taking us somewhere

as a people. Amen. I just sense a

different shift in the atmosphere

spiritually speaking. I sense a shift in

the worship. I sense a shift in the

relationships. God is in this house.

Amen.

>> And if we're not prepared for the

unexpected, the enemy would love to mess

us up.

>> So, I want us to be prepared

for the radical storms. Number one in

your notes is radical storms. Matthew

Matthew 7 · chapter mention

chapter 7, we're going to be kind of

hanging out in Matthew 7 a little bit

today. It's a favorite portion of

scripture of mine. In verse 13, Jesus

says, "Enter through the narrow gate.

For wide is the gate and broad is the

road that leads to destruction.

Many enter through it, but small is the

gate and narrow the road that leads to

life and only a few find it."

He says, "Enter through the narrow

gate."

Uh, it's not popular. It's not crowded.

He says, "Only a few find it." And let

me tell you this, it's definitely not

easy to enter through the narrow gate.

It's much easier in life to go with the

flow, to go with the crowd. Amen. To

follow the culture, to follow the

trends.

It's much more challenging when you

surrender your life to Jesus Christ and

now I'm no longer in culture. I'm no

longer uh relatable. I'm no longer

following the trend. Everyone else, my

family, friends, everyone else is going

to do that. But I have a conviction. I

don't think that's wise for a believer

uh to do that. I'm not in Amen.

It's the narrow gate.

The narrow gate. I was thinking about

it. Why is the gate narrow?

I believe this. Because you can't bring

your baggage through it.

Oh my goodness. That'll preach right

there. Come on.

>> Yeah.

>> You can't bring your pride.

You can't bring your leftovers mentality

or good enough mentality.

You can't bring all of your sin and

selfishness.

You can't bring all that stuff. It's a

narrow gate. If you want to get through

the narrow gate, you got to you got to

drop some things at the gate to get

through. Amen.

I was just on a Zoom call Thursday uh

with the group that I'm going to Israel

with. Man, I'm excited for Israel.

Hallelujah. Uh and I'm working with uh

some other pastors that I've been

friends with and invited on the trip.

And so, some of them have never traveled

internationally. They're kind of it's

kind of new for them. And so we're

making sure and like covering all the

bases that hey your uh carry-on, your

check bag needs to be certain weight,

certain size. You guys know all this. Uh

when I travel, I almost look homeless,

right? Like I just rolled out of cuz I

got comfortable pants on. I make sure

and wear the hoses so I can slip them

off at the gate, you know? And I don't

wear a belt cuz I don't want to be the

weird guy having to figure out the belt.

The thing, you know what I mean? Like

you just kind you got to strip it all

back a little bit. And so you can get

through the gate

with ease.

Jesus says, "Enter through the narrow

gate." There's some things that you're

going to have to leave behind if you're

interested in living the radical life.

Amen.

>> Uh there might be a few things today

that you're thinking of right now.

You're going, "Man, I can't take that in

with me. I can't take that in with me."

uh Hebrews chapter 12

Hebrews 12 · chapter mention

verse one. I'll read the second part of

the scripture.

He says, "Let us also lay aside every

weight and sin which clings so closely

and let us run with endurance the race

that is set before us."

You're not getting through the gate

unless you drop the weight.

>> You're just not getting through. Amen.

And and the scriptures echo this is one

of many. But we have to lay aside every

weight the sin that so easily entangles

us. Man, if we're ready to do and he

says to run the race that is set before

you. I was thinking about Job and uh I

think God's funny sometimes. Uh he he

tells Job uh to gird up your loins like

a man. Isn't that fun? Come on. Where

are my old KJV people here? Gird up your

loins. G up your loins like a man. This

should be a bumper sticker. Uh,

gird up your loins like a man. Uh, I

think it's hilarious, but girding up

your loins is some terminology that we

see a few different places in scripture.

Uh, but in in first century and even Old

Testament, uh, the common uh, outfit for

men was a robe.

I'm glad that trend got left in the

first century because uh, I'm not

comfortable in a dress. I'm just not.

And they wore robes. They had the cool

hippie leather sandals. Those are cool,

right? Maybe we can do that.

>> Except for the older I get, the less I

like the look of my feet, right? That

happens.

Robes and sandals. That's what they did.

And uh man, if they had to take off

running, there's this idea that they

call it girding up your loins. And

sometimes they would wear a belt and

sometimes they wouldn't, but they would

to g up your loins would be to to get

the skirt, get the old thing up, and

sometimes they would tie it up, right?

So their legs were free. Sometimes they

would tuck it in their belt so they

could take off running.

Many times when they were getting ready

for war, they would gutter up their

loins,

right? Cuz ladies, you know, you ain't

running very good in a dress.

>> Yeah. I might even take off my sandals,

man. I'm going to g up my I'm getting it

in, baby. Come on. Right. So, it had the

idea of we're going to war. Had the idea

of we're going to work.

There's a lot of things, guys, that uh

you would be uncomfortable working on

and address.

Any of you guys get any weird ideas? I

don't need no phone calls from wives

later.

He borrowed my dress. He's working on

the car.

Says, "Gird up your loins." First Kings

1 Kings 18:46

18:46. And the hand of the Lord, catch

this, was on Elijah.

and he girded up his loins and ran

before Ahab.

We saw this hand of the Lord upon

Elijah. This sense of urgency, spirit

drops on him and what does he do? He

girds up his loins and runs to Ahab.

So if we need to move fast,

if we need to fight, if we need to work,

we get up our gard up our loins. 1 Peter

1 Peter 1 · chapter mention

chapter 1 and verse 13.

The Bible says this, "Therefore, gird up

the loins of your mind."

My goodness, can we talk about spiritual

warfare for a minute?

Gird up the loins of your mind. Be

sober. Rest your hope fully on the grace

that is to be brought to you at the

revelation of Jesus Christ.

So we drop the weight, the sin that so

easily ens snares us so we can run the

race set before us. We g up the loins of

our mind. That means I'm not thinking

about everything and anything. That

means that I'm laser focused. The Bible

says to fix our eyes upon Jesus, the

author and the finisher of our faith.

Listen, not looking to the left nor to

the right,

but fixing my eyes upon him. And that's

all I'm thinking about. I'm not

interested in thinking about this or

that or that.

Gird up the loins of your mind.

Get ready to run. Get ready for war.

Here's what I want you to hear about

the radical life.

It requires you to g up your loins

spiritually, emotionally,

and mentally. You'll never make it

through the narrow gate with extra

baggage.

Last week we said this, radical honor

leads to radical favor.

One thing I didn't say that I should

clarify is that favor doesn't mean no

friction. Amen.

The enemy messes with our mind.

Sometimes we think that I have the favor

of the Lord. That means nothing. Uh I'll

have no opposition. I'll have no

struggle. I'll have no things that I

have to go through. Radical favor does

not mean no friction. A lot of times

radical favor means there'll be some

friction. Uh read through the Bible,

do a character study of all of the

greats and see if any of them had smooth

sailing.

God's hand was upon them. God had

anointed them. God had called them. God

had sent them. And what do they have?

They have struggle after opposition,

after war, after all these different

things that they go through.

If you're called and you get serious

about this thing, which I think you are,

there's going to be some fight, some

wars that you're going to have to fight.

Amen.

>> There's going to be some opposition that

you're going to have to go through. And

we have to learn to stand.

Sometimes,

often times, if you're doing it right,

if you're radical, if you're going all

in, the storms get bigger.

And I want to warn you a little bit

about the jealousy piece.

The enemy can mess with you from many

different angles, but sometimes when you

get serious for God and you're getting

radical, you're going all in, uh, other

people don't like that.

Amen. It's almost like bringing a mirror

to their leftover good enough mentality.

Let me say this, man. When you go all in

and you lay down at lay aside every

weight and you're just you're all in,

you're fasting, you're praying, you're

seeking, you're serving, you've got the

joy of the Lord as your strength,

and you're around somebody, they might

claim to be a Christian, but they don't

have the joy of the Lord as their

strength. And they want to sit and

complain, "Life's so hard.

I'll never get I'll never get ahead of

whatever it is, right? And you have this

joy of the Lord. You're radical.

Sometimes people get upset about that.

Isn't that strange? Sometimes people are

drawn to it going, "Man, I don't have

that. I want what you have. There

there's something authentic." But a lot

of times people will turn against it and

they'll go, "Oh, you're just holier than

now. Your Christianity, you're too

radical. Oh, you go to that church, they

lift hands during worship. That's weird.

man, get weird with me. Amen. Let's

worship the King.

>> Let's just Let's just get crazy. Let's

just get radical before him. Let's just

go all in. Let's Let's give this thing a

shot. Amen.

>> Your radical excellence exposes

their mediocrity.

He says, "Wide is the gate and broad is

the road that leads to destruction."

You're going to find more than not a lot

of people that are going the wrong

direction. And we have to know what the

end of the road looks like

so we don't get caught up. Wide is the

gate, broad is the road that leads

somewhere to destruction,

but small is the gate, and narrow the

road that leads to life. We're talking

about radical life.

Jesus is telling you though, how do you

get into this thing? How do you get to

this radical life? Narrow is the road

that leads to life.

Just gave you the road map.

And only a few find it.

Say, I'm the few.

>> I found it.

Not a lot of people are on that path,

but I found it.

and I'm going to stay on the road.

Sometimes we ask ourselves the question,

what storms am I facing right now that

are proof

that I'm allin with God?

Amen.

The enemy will tell you those storms

you're going through, that's a curse.

That's a You shouldn't have to go

through that. You're saved. You don't

have to. No, no, no, no, no. The more

radical you get sometimes, the greater

the storm.

What storms are you going through right

now that are proof that you're on that

narrow way that you're all in?

After

explaining the narrow gate, Jesus says

in verse 15,

he says, "Beware." Say, "Beware."

>> Beware.

>> Says, "Man, a narrow gate leads to life,

but I want you to beware of something."

He says, "Beware of false prophets

who come to you in sheep's clothing, but

inwardly

are ravenous wolves."

Uh, wolves bite.

Sheep are dorky,

right?

But wolves bite.

Yeah.

Says, "Watch out for these people that

claim to be a Christian." Can I tell you

that it's more radical today than it

ever has been of people that are

claiming they're a Christian that do not

know the same God that I know.

>> It's insane the stuff that is being

preached in some pulpits, the things

that are being practic practiced in some

churches. It shouldn't be.

Amen.

>> Watch out. They'll claim they're

Christian, but inside they're wolves,

and they'll attack. Verse 16, he says,

"You'll recognize them by their fruit.

Are grapes gathered from thorn bushes,

figs from thistles?"

So, every healthy tree bears good fruit,

but the diseased tree bears bad fruit.

Listen to verse 18. He says, "A healthy

tree cannot bear bad fruit."

A healthy tree cannot bear bad fruit,

nor can a diseased tree bear good fruit.

Every tree that does not bear good fruit

is cut down and thrown into the fire.

Thus

you will recognize them by their fruits.

That love, that joy, that peace,

patience, gentleness, goodness,

kindness,

self-control.

A lot of people claim to be a Christian.

But hang around them long enough to

evaluate the fruit.

Are they overtaken with addictions? They

don't have self-control

when storms come in their life. Are they

devastated and over? Are they angry and

upset? And do they speak negative?

Evaluate the maybe they have no

patience.

I know we're all on a journey. We're all

growing in our spiritual fruit.

But there's evidence of an authentic

believer and follower of Jesus Christ.

You'll recognize them by their spiritual

fruit, not by their spiritual claims.

Amen.

>> Too many call themselves Christians and

don't have fruit. Jesus said in verse

21,

he says, "Not everyone who says to me,

Lord, Lord, will enter the kingdom of

heaven."

That means that they've been calling

Jesus Lord of their life. Amen.

Not everyone who says to me, "Lord,

Lord," will enter the kingdom of heaven,

but the one who does the will of my

father who is in heaven. On that day,

many will say to me, Lord, Lord, did we

not prophesy in your name and cast out

demons in your name and do mighty works

in your name? And I will declare to

them, I never knew you. Depart from me,

you workers of lawlessness.

Was early on serving in full-time

ministry and before I was saved, I had

workaholic tendencies.

carried a lot of that into serving in

the in the ministry. And uh the type of

ministry that I served in uh was uh very

demanding. There was a lot. And anyone

that's been in ministry knows that the

ministry never sleeps. There's always

more. There's always more lost people.

There's always more hurting. There's

always more to do.

And while I had had a relationship with

God,

I found myself

a few years into serving

and I read this scripture

and I go, "Man, God just spoke to me." I

go, "I think I might be missing it."

He said, "Man, we've been prophesying in

your name, driving out demons in your

name, all these things." And Jesus

says,"Depart from me, you evildoer.

I don't know you. And I was so focused

on serving God that I missed being with

God. Amen.

To know English translators, most

translations say, "I never knew you."

And you look at the original language in

the Greek, it's present tense.

I don't know you or I haven't known you.

Amen.

And it's a parallel word that we would

see in other portions of scripture. Uh

like Adam knew his wife Eve in the

biblical sense. We're all grown here and

we know what that means. But there's a

type of intimacy,

relational peace that comes with that.

Jesus says, "Depart from me.

I never knew you."

It's relational.

It's connection. It's the two becoming

one. He and me, I in him.

One

walking together.

These people that Jesus is addressing

had radical activity, but they didn't

have radical presence. Amen.

Number two in your notes is radical

presence.

Radical presence.

You have to know him, the everlasting

God.

In 2 Chronicles chapter 29,

2 Chronicles 29 · chapter mention

this is a portion of scripture where

Hezekiah has just newly been made king.

And he walks into the temple. He was

following King Ahaz. And Ahaz was not a

good king. Ahaz had turned uh from the

one true god to uh worship other gods

and and just did a lot of really bad

things. But Hezekiah steps in and he's

the new king and he walks into the

temple and the temple is a train wreck,

right? The incense is no longer burning.

The candles are out. It looks like a

storage unit. It's just been an absolute

mess.

2 Chronicles chap 29 and 11

he says this to the people. He says my

sons do not now be negligent. Say

negligent negligent

>> for the Lord has chosen you to stand in

his presence. Isn't that beautiful

>> to minister to him

and to be his ministers

and make offerings to him.

Number one he addresses them as sons. He

has influence and relationship with

them.

But he says, "Now is the time to not be

negligent." I love the word negligent

there. It's not rebellious. It's not

blasphemous.

It's negligent.

It means we didn't set out to destroy

the temple. We didn't intentionally come

in here and say, "Man, we're going to

mess everything up and we don't want

anything to do with this God." It it

means that we got so sidetracked serving

other gods that we haven't been giving

proper attention to the house of God.

Amen. And you are the temple of the Holy

Spirit. You are the one, the presence of

God dwells on the inside of you if

you've given your life to Jesus. And

sometimes we get so busy serving other

gods

that we forget to tend to the house of

God. Amen.

He says, "The Lord has chosen you to

stand in his presence." That's number

one. Then to minister to him, that's

number two. Then to be his ministers.

That means serving in the church,

reaching other people. That's number

three. And then to make offerings to

him. Did you catch that order?

God chose you

to stand in his presence.

Then you can minister.

Before God asks you to accomplish

something for him, he calls you to stand

with him.

You can be busy. You can be productive.

You can have results.

When you pass from this life into the

next, you can say, "Lord, didn't we

prophesy in your name? Didn't we drive

out demons? Didn't we serve at the

church potluck? Didn't we didn't we help

at the food homeless shelter? Didn't we

do this? Didn't we do that?"

And completely miss it.

You have to know him, the everlasting

God.

Sometimes we have radical activity

and lacking in radical presence.

Presence is the prerequisite for

ministry, not the reward for it.

>> Amen.

>> You can't serve God

to get the presence.

>> You have to be in relationship with God.

Seek Listen, I know some of you in here

are going, "Man, I just I just started

coming to church. I don't even know what

we're talking about anymore. When you're

talking about the presence of God, like

I don't think I've felt that before. I

get it. I've been there. Amen. Can I

tell you that our God is not so distant

and mystical and far off that if you

chase after him, you won't sense his

presence. Amen. I'll say this. I think

that's his one desire for you is to be

in relationship with him in such a way

that you can sense him. The Bible says

this, "They that are led by the spirit

of God are the children of God." Amen.

You are the temple of the Holy Spirit.

That that God's just in us and I'm

sensing him and I'm moving with him and

he's ministering to him. I just stand in

his presence. Now I'm ready for

ministry. Now I'm ready to go serve

somewhere. Right?

Steps of a good man

or ordered of the Lord. That means God

told me to step there. I'm surefooted.

My feet are established.

It's presence first serving.

Here's a danger for every one of us.

Whether you're a pastor or a parent or a

business owner, a student, you can build

you can build an entire life of service

and quietly lose your spiritual sense of

presence.

In Exodus 33,

portion of scripture, man, everything

falls apart with this golden calf

situation. And that's a sermon for

another day. You can read about it. But

God offers Moses an angel uh to lead the

people forward. And Moses refuses the

upgrade.

Exodus 33 and:e1 15. And I'll I'll just

paraphrase this one. He says, "If your

presence doesn't go with us, don't bring

us out of here." Amen.

He says, "Man," and then then the

promise is that the destination is the

promised land.

>> And Moses knows that the promise is the

presence, not the land.

>> God, I'm glad you're taking us

somewhere. I'm glad you're delivering us

out of the hand of Pharaoh and out of

slavery and all. I'm really excited

about all of this, but I don't want to

go to the promised land, Lord, if you're

not there. There's a relationship there.

There's a hunger there. There's a desire

there for the presence of God.

And we get to be so radical in our

service to him, in our relationship with

him. God, if you're not going, I'm not

going.

You guys have friends like this, family

in your life. My wife and I, we've been

together a long time.

Well, what year is it? 25 years we've

been together.

I think we like each other.

But there's a lot of things I get all

excited. I'm the I'm the uh extroverted

one and I get all excited. Well, let's

go do this. And then she's on board.

Ladies, you know, you change your mind

sometimes.

All of a sudden, she she doesn't want to

go. Well, guess what? I lost my desire

to go, right? Because, hun, if you don't

want to go, then I don't want to go. I'm

not going to go by myself. That's weird,

you know? But you guys know that

feeling, that relational piece of like I

I only want to go because you want to

go. There's stuff that we do in

relationships that I would never do by

myself, but because my wife loves it and

I want to be with her, I'll go, men, you

know what I'm talking about.

>> I don't care if I ever step foot into

another mall the rest of my life.

>> You know what I'm talking about. But she

wants to Yeah. You know what it did?

Yesterday,

uh, we went to Fresh Time Market and to

Costco on a Saturday.

>> What on earth? Never in my right mind

would I choose to do that on a Saturday.

Um,

>> all the red lights and the people and

this guy cut me off. It's this whole

thing. And in the parking lots, I mean,

that's insane. You just sit there and

watch the hundred carts go by people and

then there's people that just stop and

it's like, there's so many humans here.

Then we go into the stores. But my wife

wanted to go. You know what? We had a

phenomenal time.

>> We had a great time. Mosy through. I got

lost a little while in Costco. I had to

find my wife.

>> But I'd rather do that than sit home and

do nothing

>> because I wanted to be with her.

Our relationship with God is so much

more.

I don't want to go do these other

things. I'm not interested.

appreciate the heart of Moses. God, if

you're not going, I'm not going.

That single attribute will lead you to

serve the radical life, to experience

the radical life, to experience radical

presence.

Negligence is rarely loud rebellion.

Sometimes

it's working for God while losing the

awareness of God himself.

There's a pastor, maybe some of you are

familiar with it, Francis Chan. He

planted a church out west and built a

church, uh, phenomenal, very high impact

church and mega church and just had lots

of influence. All of a sudden, he's all

over the internet. He's speaking at

conferences. Francis Ch is just a great,

great guy. And he ended up resigning and

leaving the church that he planted. When

asked why,

he said, "I think we've learned how to

do church so well that we don't need God

anymore."

They knew how to have the smoke machine

come just that right moment. Oh, and

that piano player is classically. Oh,

it's just so beautiful. And he knew how

to make the people emotional with the

music. He says, "Even in my preaching, I

knew how to how to preach in such a way

that would make people emotional and get

them to maybe make a decision." He goes,

"I was doing all this and it was really

good and it was a lot of things looked

really great, but he goes, I got to the

end of it, I go, I think we've learned

how to do church so well that we don't

know God real well.

Uh

yeah, let's just serve God.

I just want to be led by the spirit of

God.

Hezekiah says, "Don't now be negligent."

But first things first,

we don't serve to earn his presence.

We serve because we've stood in his

presence.

Number three in your notes is radical

foundation.

Radical foundation. Jesus continues in

Matthew Matthew chapter 7

Matthew 7 · chapter mention

in verse 24. He says, "Everyone

say everyone."

>> Everyone.

>> Everyone then who hears these words of

mine, catch this, and does them. That's

where the big disconnect happens.

Sometimes

we in America sometimes we're so

overchurched. We know the right thing to

do. We just haven't done it yet.

Everyone then who hears these words of

mine and does them will be like a wise

man who built his house on the rock.

The rain fell, the floods came, the

winds blew and beat on that house, but

it did not fall because it had been

founded on the rock.

And everyone who hears these words of

mine and does not do them will be like a

foolish man who built his house on the

sand.

The rain fell, the floods came, the

winds blew and beat against that house

and it fell and great was the fall of

it.

Both houses

had the same storm. If you're saved and

you're built on the foundation, the rock

Jesus Christ, you're not exempt from

storms. The winds blew, the rains came,

the floods came, all of the things

happened to both houses. One was built

on the foundation, Jesus Christ. That

means relationship with Jesus. The other

was built on sand. That's anything other

than Jesus.

One stood,

the other fell.

Some of you are old enough to remember

this.

1992. Who's old enough to remember

anything from 1992? Where are my old

folks at? Hallelujah.

Just Just getting the temperature of the

crowd, seeing who I'm talking to.

Yep.

1992.

You guys remember Hurricane Andrew?

South Florida. It destroyed entire

neighborhoods. I mean, it just wiped

houses off the map. Absolute

devastation. Looked like a war zone.

There was rips were ripped off and walls

that had collapsed. And uh in the middle

of all of that destruction,

there was one house that stood

and uh the news of course was all over

it. And uh lady on the newscast uh finds

this one man and they're standing by the

house and they're doing the interview

and she asks the question. She says,

"Hey, all these houses are falling down.

How come yours is the one that stood?" I

want you to hear his response.

I love this. He says, "I built this

house myself.

Build it according to the Florida State

Building Code." He was a good old boy,

by the way. He says, "When the code

called for 2x6 trusses, I used 2x6

trusses.

I was told that a house built according

to code could withstand a hurricane.

And it did.

Isn't that interesting?

This old guy, he says, "I don't know why

everybody else's house fell." He goes,

"I I just followed the rule. I don't

know why mine's still standing. I just

followed the building code. I built it

the way that I was supposed to. And my

neighbor's house fell and their house

fell and the entire neighborhood fell.

For some reason, my house is still

standing because I followed the rules.

Yes.

>> Can I tell you that this is the rule

book?

>> You'll enter through the narrow gate.

You'll build upon the foundation, Jesus

Christ. You'll be a wise builder. Amen.

And when everything else falls apart,

when the end of it all comes, you're

going to be a house that's still

standing.

I'm preaching better than you're amening

today.

Here's the problem. Humanity loves

shortcuts.

We don't like to put in the hard work.

It's uncomfortable to crucify my flesh.

And it's it's not Pastor Dan was talking

about daily devotions earlier every day.

I have to read my Bible every day. Yeah,

you don't have to.

You don't have to.

No, you can do anything you want to do.

But if we want to build

upon the foundation and we want to do it

like a Can I say this? It matters how

you build. If you want to be like a wise

builder, we have to know the building

code.

Preaching to somebody today.

We choose convenience over commitment,

comfort over sacrifice.

We do just what we have to do, but not

everything we're supposed to do.

Building our lives out of wood, hay, and

straw.

Uh, men,

you guys ever built some of this IKEA

furniture?

Yeah, I have a wife and four kids. I've

built a lot of IKEA furniture. Uh, I

tend to build it with no directions.

I don't like the piece of paper that

goes aside. I don't even know. It's lost

in the box somewhere. And I'm just

figuring it out. I'm like, I can figure

out this Swedish stuff. I don't know.

You know, now I'm putting it all

together. You ever have extra parts left

over and you're like, I'm not sure where

that was supposed to go.

Yeah. And then you do it and it wobbles

or you sit on it and you're like, I'm

afraid I'm going to you know,

fall down and you go back to the drawing

board. I'm sometimes we'll go find the

directions. I'm like, I missed it

somewhere. I don't know. Yeah,

you have to build according to the

directions if you want it to be sturdy.

We want to build with cheap materials

and not follow the directions

and then we're confused when life falls

apart.

I said then we're confused when life

falls apart.

It's interesting

when you build with the right materials

and you build on the right right

foundation.

Life can happen. The storms can come. I

know many I'm looking around and a lot

of storms are represented here.

Major storms of life and somehow you're

still standing. Do you know why?

Because you're built on the foundation

Jesus Christ.

>> If you're in here and you're going,

"Man, I've been through a lot of storms,

but I've fell down every single time

and it's a heavy weight on me." Can I

challenge you and encourage you to start

to build in a new way?

To start to build on a new foundation,

man, get crazy for Christ. Get radical.

Get serious about this thing.

1 Corinthians chapter 3

1 Corinthians 3 · chapter mention

and verse 10 says this, "By the grace

God has given me." Paul says,"I laid a

foundation as a wise builder, and

someone else is building on it, but each

one should build with care,

for no one can lay any foundation other

than the one already laid, which is

Jesus Christ."

Listen to verse 12. He says, "If anyone

builds on this foundation using gold,

silver, costly stones, wood, hair, or

straw,

their work will be shown for what it

is." Because the day will bring it to

light.

It will be revealed with fire.

And the fire will test the quality of

each person's work.

If what has been built survives,

the builder will receive a reward.

If it's burned up, the builder will

suffer loss, but yet will be saved,

even though only as one escaping

through the flames.

Stand to our feet all over this house. I

want to ask the worship team to join me

up here.

He says the fire will test the quality

The fire will test the quality of the

work.

God is more concerned with what you're

building,

what you're building with, and where

you're building it more than how fast

you're building it. Amen.

>> Amen.

>> You can build a hut pretty quick with

straw.

But I wouldn't want to be in it through

a hurricane

or a fire.

To build with

stone,

it's heavy,

laborsome.

To build with precious metals like gold,

precious stones

takes time and intricacy,

intentionality, skill.

Jesus said,

"On this rock I will build my church,

and the gates of hell shall not prevail

against it." I believe this church, if

we are established and set and built

upon the foundation of Jesus Christ,

hell can throw any fire they want at us.

>> Listen, the gates of hell shall not

prevail against it. But I'll tell you

this, it matters how you build.

Storms are coming. The fire's coming.

Will we stand?

Praise you, Jesus. Father, I thank you,

Lord.

>> I thank you, Father, that you've allowed

us, Lord, to be in right relationship

with you.

>> God, you've called us to serve you in

such a way that is simply relationship

with you.

Father, I pray for those in this room

that have yet to clearly

and really sense your presence. Father,

I take pray today would be a different

day. Lord, that you would meet them

right where they stand right now.

Father, that they would sense you and

see you and know that you are everywhere

all the time. That you're available.

Father, I pray that we would be

presenceled,

spiritled.

Father, I pray for those that have

built

and been destroyed

>> and built and been destroyed. Father, I

pray

that today, Lord, you give them the

spiritual blueprints for a wise builder

to build upon the rock.

>> Father, I'm thankful that you've made a

way for us to escape

>> the clutches of hell. God,

>> you've delivered us. You've set our feet

upon a rock.

And father, I'll shout it from the

rooftops. The goodness of God.

>> Praise you, Jesus. Hallelujah. Saints,

could we begin to praise him together?

Thank you, Lord. Father, you are a good

God. Praise you, Jesus. Hallelujah. We

love you today, God. You're worthy of

our praise today, God. Thank you, Jesus.

Father, we're just going to get radical

for you, Lord. Father, we're going to go

allin with you, Lord. We refuse to hold

back any longer. But God, you've been a

good God to us and we we came to worship

you, Father. We came to lift up the name

above every name. Father, we're going

all in today. Praise you, Jesus.

Hallelujah.

Thank you, Lord.

Thank you, Jesus. Father, I pray for

every soul in this room. I pray for

every person watching online, Father,

that you meet them right in their living

room.

Praise you, Jesus.

Thank you Lord.

Father, we thank you God for speaking to

our hearts, to our souls today. I pray

that you continue with us now in Jesus

name.
