Walking In The New

Let's all stand together, pick your Bibles up, wave them around, make Jesus glad and the devil mad.

Let's say this together say Heavenly Father, I'm here tonight on purpose.

I'm hungry for the Word of God and for what the Holy Spirit is impressing upon me.

I'm mixed in faith with what I hear and manifesting Jesus to a lost and dying world.

In Jesus' name, amen, let's get into the Word tonight.

Let's look at 2 Corinthians 5, 17, very familiar verse also Titus, chapter 3, and Romans, chapter 6.

2 Corinthians 5, 17,.

Therefore, if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature.

Old things are passed away and, behold, all things are become new.

And then in Titus, chapter 3, verse 4,.

Titus 3:4

But after that, the kindness and love of God, our Savior, toward man appeared, not by works of righteousness, which we have done, but according to his mercy.

He saved us by the washing of regeneration and renewing of the Holy Ghost, which he shed on us abundantly through Jesus Christ, our Savior, that, being justified by his grace, we should be made heirs according to the hope of eternal life.

Notice by washing of regeneration and renewing of the Holy Ghost.

And then in Romans, chapter 6, verse yeah, we can read verse 3, 2,.

Romans 6 · chapter mention

Let's see Romans 6, verse 3,.

Romans 6:3

No, you, not that so many of us as were baptized into Jesus Christ were baptized into his death.

Therefore, we are buried with him by baptism into death that, like his Christ, was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father.

Even so, we also should walk in newness of life.

Walk in newness of life.

So tonight I just want to share a message entitled Walking in the New.

It's vital for believers to walk in the newness and freshness of life.

You know, when you look up that word in Romans 6, it is very similar to the word in Romans 12, 2,.

It would be transformed by the renewing of your mind.

When you were made new and a new creature, eternal life came into you and there's a newness and freshness of life.

In fact, the Greek word there translated newness and it's kin to the word, the Greek word that talks about renewed your mind.

It has the idea of strangeness.

You know, when you're a new creature, you're strange to this world.

People, people, they look at you and they say, oh, there's something different about them and they call it strange.

It is strange.

It's strange to unbelievers and I used to.

I mean, I knew a couple of builder.

Friends of mine got saved and I didn't know what had happened to them.

I thought they went crazy.

But there's one guy was, you know, he was kind of a ring-tailed tutor.

I mean if we all were, I was faithful to my wife, okay, but I mean we drank and cussed and all that kind of thing.

All of a sudden I found out he was listening to the King James Bible by cassette tape in his pickup truck.

I told my brother, I said did you know?

David is listening to the Bible on a cassette tape.

What in the world good does that do?

What in the world can you listen to the Bible?

But he'd gotten saved.

He just didn't tell me, he didn't tell us what happened Years later when I got saved and filled with the Holy Ghost.

Then he wanted the baptism of the Holy Ghost.

He's the guy that built Victory Christian Center.

Yeah, he sure did.

He's a friend of mine, good man.

So, walking in the new and it's not, you know, not just new years, new years resolution, but this life.

This life that we have is the Zoë we were talking about this morning, the God kind of life, a superior in quantity, a superior in quality, a super bunnet in quantity, and so we're surrounded by a world that's rushing to judgment.

You know, we've talked a lot.

There's a plumb line.

The difference is being magnified between the kingdom of darkness, the kingdom of light, kingdom of God.

And so in 2 Corinthians let's run over here.

We're going to look at the Bible tonight.

We're going to look at some verses to get them in front of me.

2 Corinthians, chapter 2.

2 Corinthians 2 · chapter mention

And we're talking about.

It kind of relates to what I was preaching this morning.

I feel like 2 Corinthians, chapter 2, verse 15.

2 Corinthians 2:15

For we are unto God, that's the new creatures, that's us.

For we are unto God, a sweet savor of Christ, our fragrance.

We're a sweet fragrance of Christ in them that are saved and in them that perish to the one where the savor of death unto death.

We don't smell sweet to the unbeliever, we smell like death.

That's why, a lot of times you're not connecting.

If they're not ripe harvest, they're not going to connect.

But if they're ripe harvest, they're going to be attracted to you.

That's why you don't have to labor in this.

You don't have to just wear yourself out wasting your breath on some folks.

Just be who God made you Walk in that newness.

That word walk really means to continue, to continue in the newness of life.

So when you do, you're the one, you're the savor of death unto death, and to the other, the savor of life unto life.

And who is sufficient for these things?

Well, we are, praise God.

God makes us sufficient, and so If we will walk in the newness of life or continue, we'll be that fragrance of life and a beacon of light in a dark world.

Everybody say newness, freshness.

See, that's the life we have on the inside of us.

That is supernatural, that it just exudes from us.

At New Car Smell.

You know, when you buy a new car for some of you probably hadn't bought a new car in a while, but it's something about a new car, brand new car it's got a smell.

And it's not cinnamon, it's not pina colada.

You know all these fake fragrances they give you at the car wash.

It's not it.

Even they got a new car fragrance that doesn't cut it.

Have you noticed the leather is not doesn't smell like leather, it smells kind of like an old tobacco pouch or something.

But anyway, I mean it.

Just there's nothing like a new car.

I mean the new car smell and you know it doesn't last.

I don't know how long does it last?

We don't know.

You know, all of a sudden you realize one day that the new car smell has gone and I don't know.

I mean, I'd like to keep it, I wish I could keep it, but it doesn't last.

You just, you know, I never will forget.

Back in the early 70s I think it was 72.

My brother bought a brand new Pontiac station wagon.

The thing was about 30 foot long, it was huge.

It was equal to the day's three row SUV.

You know seven seats.

You know you've got the seat all the way in the back of an SUV, so you've got three rows.

Well, that Pontiac had three rows and the last row was a seat that turned around and faced the back.

So he had Lisa, don and Lori.

They had three girls and they were Claire's older cousins.

So we spent a lot of time around them and they loved to sit in the back together, the three of them, and sit facing out the back, out the back of the huge Pontiac wagon.

And it had a very unique rear end because, you know, some station wagons you pull the glass up like this and the tailgate comes down, you know, and that's kind of complicated.

Others had a swing gate that swings out about six feet.

That's about as convenient as a headache I mean you got to be kidding In a parking lot, that doesn't work.

So Pontiac took care, general Motors, they took care of that problem and they had a door and the whole tailgate recessed down under the seats, recessed, woo.

And he said come here, john, let me show you, turn the key and whew, and the thing just went right down and recessed under the seats.

I said man, that is so cool, how cool.

And of course the girls.

They thought it was so good because they could climb right up.

They didn't have to go in the regular, they could climb up the rear bumper and get in the car and then he'd lock them in there and it worked well.

They had that new car smell for a good while until Sylvia, my sister-in-law, said John, bob, you got to do something.

There's something that smells in the car.

It's terrible.

Well, how long has that been going on?

It's a brand new car.

What do you mean?

Something stinks.

Well, I don't know, but it's been smelling.

It's gotten worse.

Well, why didn't you tell me?

Woman, I can just hear my brother, you know he gets excited, like I do when we were office and together we had these long telephone cords.

We didn't have cordless phones, we had long telephone cords, you know 12, 15 foot long.

He'd have one, I'd have one, and we'd get on the phone and we were all.

Both of us had the habit of walking while we were talking and we would walk around the office until our phone cords got tangled up.

People would make fun of us, but anyway, so he goes out and he's, and it was.

It was reeky in there and he couldn't find out what it was.

He had to take it to the dealer.

They had to take those, they had to take those seats out and it was a baloney sandwich that had gotten caught up underneath and that car was never the same again.

I mean, so let's not let our Christianity get sour.

I mean let's not get spoiled.

Amen.

All right, let's look at second Corinthians Talking about the savior of life and the life I think about.

Smith Wigglesworth tells a testimony of being on a train to Ireland with a group of ministers.

They were gonna have this big convention.

So you know, you've got all these Christian ministers on a train and he comes walking through the car at one point on the trip and one of the preachers got out in the aisle and says, sir, you make me want to repent of my sin.

And he got out in the aisle and began to repent of his sin and, weeping and crying, the whole car repented.

They had revival on the car.

Just because of his, of his bearing and the anointing that he carried, that confronted the unbelief in that car, praise God.

So second Corinthians 517, look at it again, please.

So it says here that old things are passed away.

I confess this almost every day because I mean every day.

Really, every moment is a new start.

It's not something you know.

People talk about needing a, a, a.

I need to go and have a fresh start.

Or you get a fresh start every moment because our past away is continuous.

It's a continuous situations happening instantaneously.

I mean you're not the same as you were two seconds ago, you're not the same as you were five minutes ago.

You get a hold of the word.

It'll change your whole perspective.

Instead of going around all hung dog and embarrassed and guilt ridden about some mistake you made, some sin you committed, you get it under the blood and it's brand new.

It's a brand new start immediately.

Old things are passed away and behold, all things are become new, Everything is new on a continual basis.

It's not once a year, it's not once a month, it's not when you come to church, it's all the time.

Or become new, continuous action.

It reminds me of Titus 3.5, the washing of regeneration and renewing of the Holy Ghost.

That washing is happening all the time Regeneration, transformation.

If we look at ourselves correctly, we look at ourselves too much in the flesh, we look at ourselves after the flesh, but we are new creatures, a new species of beings that never before existed.

And you've been regenerated on a constant basis.

So you're always changing, you're always moving in a positive direction.

Reminds me of Ephesians 5, 18,.

Be filled, be not ignorant but knowing what the will of the Lord is, and be filled with the Holy Ghost.

Be being filled, be continually and habitually filled with the Holy Ghost.

We don't have to just get filled one time, we stay in the process of being filled on a continual basis.

And so then, in Romans 6, 4, when we walk in newness of life, that word again, walk means to continue.

It doesn't mean just back when you got saved, it means you continue in the newness of life, that fresh, new car smell, if you wanna call it that, that freshness, that savor, that aroma, that fragrance that makes you a witness without you even speaking.

It's important to speak it's important, but it's in your countenance, it's in your being, it's in you just being somewhere you arrive and the Holy Ghost arrives.

Glory to come on.

Let's lift our hands right now, praise God.

We must impose our fragrance of life and countenance of light on this world.

We've got to, and it's not gonna happen automatically.

We need to be conscious.

That's part of our faith.

Our faith is such I have to stir myself up.

I have to think.

Well, you know, I'm fixed to arrive this meeting.

The Holy Ghost is with me.

The Holy Ghost is in me to put me over in this situation.

Now I go to a lot of meetings that are Christian meetings, but I need it.

I found that the Christian meeting.

I really need consciousness of the Holy Ghost.

So walk in the new, continue.

Everybody say continue.

Continue in the new Number one, continue in the new spiritually, spiritually, we're gonna say spiritually, mentally and physically.

So first, spiritually, the Word and the Spirit Feed your spirit on God's Word.

Colossians 316.

Let the Word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom, teaching, admonishing one another in Psalms and hymns, the spiritual song singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord.

And whatever you do in Word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God and the Father by him.

So there again, spiritually, you're feeding your spirit on the Word of God.

That's what I tell myself every time when I begin to open the Bible.

I'll pray Father, I thank you for the Word of God.

I'm feeding my spirit, I'm nourishing my faith and I believe I've received that Word that I need for today for my spirit to mature.

See, our spirits are either growing or they're shrinking.

Our faith is either growing or it's shrinking.

There's no middle ground, there's no treading water, there's no neutral ground.

It's either increasing or decreasing.

So you take people like Smith Wigglesworth.

I mean he'd never left anywhere without his pocket New Testament in his pocket.

I mean he would have that in his suit pocket and after eating a meal he's got several people around him He'd pull back from the table and pull out his Bible and do a little faith message.

A little faith message, a little miniature message, right there at the table.

I mean he was man.

I mean he didn't.

He had such a consciousness of the Word of God needing to come into us.

First, corinthians 14-4, edify your spirit.

By praying much in other tongues, you build your spirit up.

We ought to be praying more in tongues than ever before.

Right now I'd be around Brother Osteen.

He's always praying in the Holy Ghost.

I'd say, what did you say?

I just pray in the Holy Ghost.

I quit.

I had to learn to flow with him.

I mean he's praying in the Holy Ghost all the time, literally all the time.

I mean he's walking through the hallway and the hotel going to dinner, he's praying in the Holy Ghost.

He's praying in the Holy Ghost under his breath and the elevator Heays prayer in the Holy Ghost.

In the airport he's praying in the Holy Ghost.

Sitting in the airplane seat, he's praying in the Holy Ghost, and then he's talking and speaking, but in between he's what right?

I show I got that.

Pray it in the Holy Ghost all the time.

And so, jude 20, building up yourselves on the most holy faith.

Pray it in the Holy Ghost, pray it in the spirit, building yourself up.

That is your spirit.

So we have to walk in the newness in our spirit by building our spirit up, and then your spirit will dominate your mind and your body, and we talk about being spirit dominant.

That's more needed now than ever before Because, as I said this morning, we're having sensory overload.

When we leave our home in the morning, we're confronted by a world that is in fear.

They're proudly wearing their fear on their face and they want to block our countenance.

They want to get rid of our countenance with this stupid mask and keep us from being able to exude and to present the countenance that we have.

They're doubling down.

They want double masks.

I got an email from Methodist Hospital.

Well, we encourage you to start thinking about double masks.

No, I'm thinking about not having any mask ever.

All right, number two walk in the new, continue in the new mentally and of course we've been preaching about the power of imagination Romans 12 too and be transformed by the renewing of your mind that word renewing, being new, being strange.

I was reading something about Paul.

You know he was kind of a strange guy and of course he was single.

He did not have a wife, so he could be kind of crazy in a good way.

He's radical.

You read his life.

He's radical.

We're going to have to have a lot more radical Christians in this time, people that are not afraid to stand up in front of some warlock or some demonic power and say you, you enemy of righteousness, you, child of the devil, will you not cease to pervert the right ways of the Lord?

Now behold, thou shalt be blind, not see in the sun, verse eight you know we need some more of that kind.

No record of him praying for bar.

Jesus didn't pray for him.

Come here, brother, let me pray that God will save your ugly soul.

No, he rebuked it.

So, simultaneously as you feed your spirit, god's Word, you reprogram or refresh or renew your mind.

See, two, I mean you get two for one.

You know, when you're reading your Bible, you get two for one.

You get to feed your spirit and you get to renew your mind.

You're no longer conformed to this world's way of thinking, but God's thoughts dominate and the world looks back and thinks dead.

They're always looking.

They're always having, you know, celebrating what used to happen.

They have these old songs and they have these old.

You know there's a whole industry of fifties and sixties rock musicians.

They're in their eighties now and they're still singing those old songs.

Let's twist again like we did last summer and they got a cane and they're twisted.

People want to relive their youth.

See, that's the world.

The world, the world looks back.

Oh, there's a good old bag.

They're so miserable they want to do anything to get out of the reality.

Oh, thank God, we've got the newness of life.

They think death, they're victim hood, they're suspicious, they're jaded.

Just read the comments.

If you ever have you ever read an article online, maybe a news article I'm not even talking about Facebook, that's bad enough, but I mean just a regular news article.

It'll say that somebody, something happened, some tragedy happened and whatever.

And then you read the comments.

They're just vicious, filled with the devil, horrible that people will say that.

I mean Rush Limbaugh, I mean it hurt to lose Rush and the Hollywood elite.

They said the most vicious, nasty, horrible things about this man and they don't even know him.

They never listened to him a day in their life.

I listened to him for 30 years.

Tremendous person, absolutely born again, no question about it.

Was he a preacher?

No, he's not a preacher.

That wasn't his, his deal, but he would.

Recently, in the last few weeks, probably back in October, I think, I heard one program.

It was just man.

I was weeping.

He's talking about his faith in God, but the remarks that they made over him and I thank God for him I think that he, this, this nation, is another.

See, I just believe it's one of those cornerstones that have been knocked out.

It's been, it's been removed.

You mean, god took, no, I, god received him.

God didn't kill him.

No, cancer killed him.

I hate cancer.

I wrote him a note.

I knew he probably wouldn't even get it, but I wrote him one anyway and offered to come and lay hands on him because I could hear no faith.

And it was all about the doctors, all about you know, they've given, he's given millions of dollars to cancer research and all of that.

And anyway, I believe in the healer.

Thank God for whatever medicine can do, but the healer is the healer, all right.

So spiritually, mentally, say we're looking to a bright future.

You know, we think life, we think victory, we think love.

That's what it takes to renew your mind in order for you to be able to continue in the new You've got to.

You've got to fight that battle in the mind.

And then the last one is physically.

Physically we walk in the new.

Physically, we do have physical bodies.

The Bible tells us what we ought to do with our body, offer it as a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable and the God which is our reasonable service.

Romans eight.

Let's look at that one.

Romans eight Are you getting anything out of this?

It's kind of basic, but we need a reminder.

And because this is this is the, this is the witness.

You know not all of us are are getting more comfortable by talking about Jesus and our personal faith, but you just never know who you're talking to.

So just realize that you, just when you arrive anywhere, you're a witness.

Romans eight, 11, but the spirit of him that raised up Jesus from the dead dwelling you.

But if the spirit of him that raised up Jesus from the dead dwells in you, and he does, the Holy ghost, he that raised up Christ from the dead, shall also quicken or make alive your mortal bodies by his spirit that dwelleth in you.

Oh yeah, pastor, that's talking about the rapture.

No, it has nothing to do with the rapture.

That's not what this verse is talking about.

It's talking about that you having the Holy ghost in you, that Holy spirit is making alive your deaf, doomed body.

You have a mortal body.

It's got an expiration date that can be extended, by the way.

I mean, we don't have any hard and fast rules that we have to diet 70 or 80.

Really, our bodies are more designed to go 120.

But the Bible is full of people who were seemingly ageless.

I mean, just think about Abraham and Sarah and Zechariah and Elizabeth and Moses.

Well, yeah, but that's Bible day.

Well, I don't care, there are still people.

Third John two says beloved.

I wish, or I pray, that you prosper and be in health even as your soul prospers and you look at the amplified.

That you prosper a long life's journey.

Continue as you continue upon life's journey, that you prosper and be in health even as your soul prospers.

God cares about your longevity.

He cares about you living your full age.

I like what brother Hagin said he would teach people that they didn't have to diet, a certain that God doesn't have an expiration date, that he's gonna call you home.

You can live as long as you're satisfied.

I spoke that over, anita, psalm 91.

With long life, I will satisfy you and show you your salvation.

If you're satisfied going to heaven at 75, you can go to heaven.

If you're satisfied going to heaven at 80, I mean you can live as long as you're satisfied.

Why should we have to get sick and then die?

We shouldn't have to use sickness as the door of God's door.

We shouldn't have to use sickness as the door way to go to heaven.

We should be able I mean the patriarchs they would call their grandkids and grandkids around them I think about Isaac call them all around and he gathered his feet up under him.

He blessed everybody and went on out of here.

I think we ought to be able to do that If Jesus tarries and I believe he's coming soon, so I'm believing to go up in the rapture, it's all the same to you.

Praise God, praise God.

Proverbs 12, 18,.

The tongue of the wise is health.

What you're talking about all the time it affects your physical body.

What Claire was talking about seed that you're sowing there's seeds of health, there's seeds of longevity.

One of the great secrets of longevity is following the Holy Ghost.

It'll keep you out of accidents, it will keep you out of tragedies.

It will keep you out of all kinds of dangerous situations.

When you just listen to the Holy Ghost, I mean we can live long.

You know, I'm thinking about Jack Hardcastle.

He's my uncle and, yeah, by marriage, but he was my mother's oldest sister.

My mother was born to a widow.

My mother's dad died in a train accident when he was in his 30s and then she was born.

So she was her mother, was pregnant with my mother and then she lost her husband and she was an uneducated Cajun woman.

She'd never been to school, couldn't read or write or drive ever, and she spoke or Cajun French.

From time to time she spoke backwards Cajun and eventually she came to live with us and our family.

I grew up with her in our home, but before that, when she was a young woman, she couldn't do anything.

Well, glaney, who was my mother's oldest sister, was already married.

So there's a big gap in between.

She was probably married when she was 16.

So it was about 16 years different between Glaney and my mother.

So my mother was born, glaney had already gotten married and her husband was a wildcatter and he liked to play the role you know.

He liked suit and hat, which is nothing but a gambler.

Okay, just punch a hole in the ground and hope you get oil and borrow the bunny to punch the hole in the ground, that type of thing.

So he had some success.

So he staked my grandmother, my mother's mother, and helped her open a boarding house in Umbil for the rough necks.

Back in the big Umbil oil boom.

My grandmother had a place where she fed those rough necks every day at lunch and she could put up a few of them in rooms in the upstairs and he had financed and paid for her facility.

And so you know, for that reason.

You know, I think Uncle Jack was a pretty good guy.

I mean he helped my grandmother and helped my mother and so forth, and so we owed him a lot.

We thought so.

Anyway, years later they moved down to Refury O, followed the next oil boom and later on my dad got into business with him and another brother-in-law, and so there was a family business connection.

So we would go.

At that time we were living in Glenna Park I'm just a little kid so we would drive down to Refury O and spend the weekend and I, you know, so he's got grandchildren that are my second cousins, so we were more in age than my other cousins.

My other cousins were more the age of my mother.

It's kind of confusing, but anyway.

So we would spend the weekend and of course there's nothing to do.

It's summertime, it's 150 degrees outside.

You don't want to be outside, it's just no way.

So we would play inside.

And so we were constantly told oh, be quiet, daddy Jack.

See, that was Uncle Jack.

Daddy Jack has heart trouble and he's taking his nap, be pleased, be quiet.

And we were told all along, just be quiet.

Oh, he's fixed a keel over, dead at any time.

So I didn't know what.

I thought the guy was just ready to die.

You know, he had white hair, kind of old at that time.

I don't know how old he was, but maybe he's 60, probably.

I don't know how old he was.

So he would go to the ice house.

He'd say, john, you want to go with me to the ice house?

And so he had this old turtle, back looking Oldsmobile with a it had the cover over the front windshield, looked like a turtle, like that Kind of rusty looking, had this glass prism where you could look at the prism and see the red light, because you couldn't see it because of the awning in the front.

It's 250 degrees inside that car, this sitting out in the hot sun.

We're going to the ice house.

He's going to put the ice in the trunk.

It's going to melt.

Half of it is going to melt between there and getting back home, so, and they had an old timey ice chest ice box an ice box, not a refrigerator.

There's an ice box.

We had a refrigerator at our house, but he had an ice box, okay.

So I'm talking about this.

And so he's Daddy Jack.

I'm thinking he's going to keel over while he's driving because he's got gloves on.

He drives with gloves.

He's got a jacket on, no tie, got a hat on.

I mean, it's hot, I'm sweating.

You know, I'm five years old.

I'm looking at him like I hope he makes it to the ice house.

I'm talking about longevity.

You thought I was got carried away, but I know exactly what I'm saying.

But we're thinking this guy's going to die.

You're thinking death right.

So years later, I mean I'm five Now, you know, now I'm 15.

And so it's 10 more years after that.

Well, my aunt was in the hospital and she died of cancer.

Her, her, his wife and Daddy Jack.

Oh, we just know, daddy Jack, this is just going to kill Daddy Jack.

Well, daddy Jack got remarried within six months and he lived another 20 years.

God is my witness.

He lived 20 more years with his second wife.

Daddy Jack kept on living way beyond my dad.

My dad was gone a long time before Daddy Jack ever left.

He had to have been in his nineties before he passed.

Well, if God will do that to somebody like Daddy Jack, he will.

I mean, listen, we, we can live a long time.

We've got the Holy Ghost living on the inside of us to quicken our mortal flesh.

Thank God for healing.

I believe in healing, but you know you can get.

You can get health every day when you realize that he's in there to to quicken your come on, let's lift our hands right now.

Let's walk in the newness of life, the Zoey life that God gave us.
