Prepare To Prosper

So if you've got your Bibles handy and I'm trusting that you do just lift them up and wave them around.

That's our custom.

We make Jesus glad and the devil mad and just say this out loud after me, say oh God, I've tuned in on purpose because I'm hungry for more of the word.

I have a receptive spirit that's ready to be fed and to be nourished with the word.

Therefore, my faith grows exceedingly and my spirit is developing, and I am not treading water, I'm not standing still, but I'm going up higher.

In Jesus name, amen, praise God, let's turn to two places tonight in the word, first of all, to do to run a me, chapter eight.

And while you're looking for that, also find second Corinthians, chapter eight, and we will get into the word tonight, and I believe it's something that we need to feed on and be encouraged about.

All right, deuteronomy eight, 18,.

And I happen to be in the book of Deuteronomy.

That's what I do, I, when I read my Bible, I look for things and God prompts me, deuteronomy eight, 18.

This is Moses telling the second generation of the Israelites before they come in the promised land.

He said but you shall remember the Lord, your God, for it is he that give it the power to get wealth that he may establish his covenant, which he swear under thy fathers, as it is this day power to get wealth.

And then in second Corinthians, chapter eight, verse nine, in the King James, for you know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that though he were, though he was rich, yet for your sake he became poor, that you, through his poverty, might be rich.

And I want to read it out of the message Bible.

In verse nine it says uh, you are familiar with the generosity of the master, of our master, jesus Christ.

Rich as he was, he gave it all away for us, and one stroke he became poor and we became rich.

Isn't that good?

Uh, and of course, rich means having an abundant supplies, not a particular amount of money.

So tonight I wanted to share a message entitled prepared to prosper.

Prepared to prosper right now, right when left wing nut jobs in Washington are talking about tax increases, they're trying to do everything they can to destroy the economy of America in the world.

Uh, I'm convinced that that's their mission in life is to destroy this country and turn it into another Cuba or Venezuela or Russia or whatever.

But uh, you know what?

We are not citizens of America.

We really, first of all, are citizens of heaven and we are in the kingdom of God.

We've been, we've been delivered out of the power of darkness and translated into the kingdom of his dear son.

So let's be kingdom minded, let's not be all earthbound and let's not get discouraged, uh, just because the economy might be going one way or the other.

Let's, let's realize that God is giving us a roadmap to prepare us to prosper.

He wants us to prosper and so, uh, let's look back now and do the wrong and this is a but where I've been reading recently and in duty Ron me chapter eight, where we just read verse 18.

Let's go to the first verse and let's talk about God's plan.

He has a good plan for his people to prosper.

I mean, after all, he's talking about don't forget me in the equation.

So, deuteronomy eight, verse one, and it says all the commandments which I commanded this day, shall you observe, to do that you may.

And in my Bible I wrote down one, two, three, four.

That's a plan.

And it says number one, that you may live.

See, it's God's plan for you to live, not die.

I mean, god's perfect will for your life is to live out your full days.

You don't have to leave early.

Live and multiply, multiply and I'm not talking about just children, I'm talking about multiply financially, multiply in every way and go in, go in and possess.

Number four possess the land.

What's the land?

You're inheritance and we've been talking about this for two years but to possess you have to dispossess, you have to kick out what is actually on your land.

The satanic squatters, the poachers, the trespassers, they're all there.

These are demon powers that think that your land and your inheritance belongs to them.

No, you've got to let them know that that's yours.

Go in and possess the land which the Lord swear unto your fathers.

So as we read these, these verses, I mean it's so similar to what our covenant says.

Our covenant is maybe not a particular land, but our covenant is, is not just when we go to heaven either.

Our, our covenant is down here on earth, and this is something that we have to identify, go in and uh, and that we have to live long enough to find it and identify it and multiply and go in and possess the land.

And so here he describes what that land looks like.

In verse seven he starts describing the inheritance as ours Very similar.

He says for the Lord, your God, brings you into a good land.

See, that's why it's a good plan.

It's a good plan that leads you into the good land, into a good land, not a bad land.

You know, I was watching some old Western the other night and it was shot in the bad lands of Dakota man.

That's pretty desolate, okay, territory, you know.

And so this is a good land, a land of brooks of water, of fountains and depths that spring out of valleys and hills, a land of wheat and barley and vines and thick trees and pomegranates, a land of olive oil and honey, a land that, where you'll eat bread without scarceness, thou shall not lack anything in it.

That's the kind of land God wants for us no lack, no scarcity of supply, a land whose stones are iron and out of whose hills thou mayest dig brass.

So that sounds like a very prosperous land.

That's the promise land.

And then on he goes on and says, in verse 12, that he's talking about when you have eaten in her full and have built goodly houses and dwelt therein.

See, that's what God wants you to do.

He's not against you living in a nicer place.

He wants you to have a goodly home.

He wants you to eat and get full.

He doesn't want you to starve yourself just because of not having enough money or enough finances to buy decent food and when your herds and your flocks multiply.

See, israel was an agricultural society.

We may not be agricultural, but this has to do with our wealth.

God wants our wealth to multiply.

He wants our barns to be filled with plenty.

Multiple barns, one barn, no, he wants multiple barns and your silver and your gold is multiplied.

There you go.

That's God's plan.

It's a good plan for a good land, and all that you have is multiplied.

See, god's plan is multiplication.

And I'm saying this in the face of all the bad news.

I had to turn the news off, even the good news, even the news that I agree with.

That I know is true.

I've turned it off primarily because I don't want to hear all this garbage.

I know it's going on.

I read the headlines of particular news sources that I know that are not fake news, and that's all I do to keep up with things.

And I don't like to feed on the bad news because I feed on the good news.

The good news says make plans, be prepared to prosper.

God wants us to prosper.

I happen to think that we're in the era of time when there's going to be a tremendous transfer of wealth for the purposes of the harvest.

I'm looking for that transfer.

I'm not looking for going broke.

I'm not looking for a bailout.

I'm not looking for a check.

If you're eligible for a check and you get one, that's fine.

You know the church.

We did not apply for the bailout for back last year when they were our bank called us.

I don't know how many times Are you going to apply?

No, actually we're not.

We're not going to apply for the bailout and we didn't need the bailout.

Praise God, what it's like.

Free money.

Listen, there is nothing free from the federal government.

Just get that in your mind.

There's nothing free.

There are strings attached to everything, and I just believe that God is our supply and he's faithful.

So we have a good plan into the good land and God is wanting us to have goodly houses.

He wants us to multiply on every side, and so verse 18 gets down to it like this you know you shall remember the Lord, your God, for it is he, it is God that gives you the power to get wealth, to acquire, to accumulate wealth.

Praise God the power to get wealth.

So then, god does have a preparation process.

He knows that if we're not prepared, we can get taken advantage and we can lose what God has for his plan to have.

He wants us to gain our gain strength.

He wants us to gain wisdom, he wants us to grow in faith.

He wants us never to forget that he is our supply and our supplier.

And so he tells the children of Israel kind of what's in front of them In verse two.

This is his plan.

You shall remember all the way which the Lord, your God, led you these 40 years.

See, this is the group, this is the children of the group that wouldn't go into the promised land.

All of them died.

Their parents died in the wilderness, and so now they are old enough to go in.

And so here's Moses saying don't you forget everything that God taught you.

Don't forget those 40 years in the wilderness.

And what did he do?

He taught them, he said to humble thee, to prove thee, to know what was in your heart, whether you would keep his commandments or not.

Now, did they need to be proved to God?

No, god already knew what was in their heart.

God is God.

We're the ones that don't know.

We're the ones that don't know what's really on the inside of us until we get under pressure.

You know what do you do when you got a lemon.

You squeeze a lemon.

You don't get orange juice.

I mean, if you want orange juice, it doesn't do any good.

You take a bunch of lemons.

What are you gonna get with a lemon?

What are you gonna get lemon juice?

It's pretty sour.

You gotta make lemonade.

You gotta put a lot of sugar in it, but no.

And so he said you've gone through these things.

You've gone through them to prove you out, to see whether you would follow the commandments or not, to humble you, to prove you, to know what's inside of you.

And then, in verse three, he humbled thee and suffered.

Thee allowed thee to hunger and fed thee with menna.

See, they were in the wilderness.

There was no way for them to grow crops.

They're not in the promised land yet, they're in between.

And so they had to learn to trust God.

In the in-between times, in the lean times, you know, we face those kinds of times.

I've had those kinds of times.

Maybe some of you are going through that kind of time right now.

Maybe you've been laid off or maybe you haven't gotten full employment yet Back after all this disaster we've suffered through with COVID-19.

But he said I have fed thee with menna which you knew not.

See.

The word manna means.

What is it?

They didn't know what it was, but it was food.

And neither did your fathers know that.

He might make you know that man does not live by bread alone.

See, jesus quoted these verses man does not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds out of the mouth of God that man live.

And so they had daily provision in the face of manna, and they had to gather it every day.

They couldn't gather a bunch of it.

They couldn't say, go out on Monday and gather enough for a week or two weeks, because it would stink, it would have worms.

He'd command them and say you're going to go out every day and then on the Sabbath you'll gather enough to not have to go out.

On the Sabbath that's one day a week you'll gather twice as much, but that's the only exception.

And what did that teach them?

See, god was preparing them to prosper, but they had to look to God and get in the habit of thanking God every day for their provision.

You see, they're spiritually dead men and women.

They don't know God like we do.

We have the Holy Spirit living on the inside of us.

He's dealing with spiritually dead men.

So what does he have to do?

He has to teach them with rituals and have to teach them with repetition, over and over.

Every morning for 40 years they had to go out and get just enough for that day.

And why did he do that?

Well, because they were coming out of Egypt and Egypt had foot power irrigation.

They're on the Nile Delta, and the more they pumped those foot powered irrigation pumps, the more water went on their crops and the more crops they grew.

They were quite prosperous, they were multiplying, they were growing.

In fact, they growed so much that they outgrew the Egyptians and the Egyptians became afraid of them.

The Egyptians were jealous of them and that's when they began to enslave them and it worked against them.

So they had years for you know, 430 years in Egypt where they had learned not to trust God.

They weren't looking to God for their provision, they were looking at their own feet.

They were looking at their own pumps.

They were only limited by how hard they wanted to work.

If the people wanted to work real hard, they really prospered.

If somebody was lazy, well they kind of starved.

So that's how it was in Egypt.

And so God had to bring them into a whole different way of thinking.

Many of us, when we've come out of the world's way of thinking, we've got to think kingdom thinking.

We've got to think kingdom prosperity.

We've got to get our lives lined up with God's word if we're going to be prosperous.

We can't just go by the world's rules, amen.

And so in verse 11 it says beware lest you forget the Lord, your God, and not keeping his commandments and his judgments and his statutes, which I command you this day, so their preservation and extension.

They had to be content with his provision.

They didn't like living one day at a time and see, that's what faith does, that's what walking by the Spirit does.

Walking by the Spirit doesn't mean you're going to have the entire plan all at one time.

It means you've got light for one step.

Walking by faith means faith for that day and looking to God for your provision for that day and not looking ahead and not getting overwhelmed by the giants in the land and all of that kind of thing.

Exactly.

They got out of kilter with God.

Eventually, they didn't learn their lessons properly and so they, you know, in verse 14 he said when you forget, see, everything's going good, you've got goodly houses, You've got your wealth multiplying, your flocks are multiplying, you're eating and are full.

And then in verse 14, then your heart be lifted up and you forget the Lord, your God.

Which brought you forth out of the land of Egypt, from the house of bondage, who led they through this great and terrible wilderness wherein were fiery serpents and there was no water?

Who brought you forth?

Who brought the fourth water out of the rock of Flint?

See, god is still, was there.

Even when things were bad, god was still their supply.

And so it's so easy to forget God and that he's your source.

And then, once you have forgotten, it's hard then to remember.

It's hard to remember the one who broke through for you.

Hasn't he broken through for you many times?

And let's not forget that.

Let's not be like the children of Israel.

They just forgot.

They forgot his wonders and they limited the Holy One of Israel, psalm 78.

They forgot the wonders that he did in Egypt and they limited God.

And then, in verse 17, the greatest sin is pride.

And you say in your heart, my power and the might of mine hand has gotten me this wealth.

See, that's the ultimate pride.

And there's.

I've run against some people that had that kind of pride working in their life.

They forgot it was God that made them great, it was God that blessed them, and that's the greatest danger, you know.

Once you forget God, it's pretty hard to remember.

You know, years ago I had moved back to Houston from a year and a half down in Corpus and I came back broke.

I mean, we moved in with my sister.

I had no money for a rent, I couldn't find a job.

I'd been self-employed my whole building career and never worked for anybody in my adult life.

I had my own business.

So the way that people put it was you're overqualified.

I think that's just a nice way of saying we don't want to take a chance on somebody that has never really had a regular job.

Growing up, I was always working for somebody when I was young, but as an adult, after college, you know I was self-employed so and so we were at church.

There was this gentleman that was quite wealthy.

I won't go into what he did, but he had a pretty large business and I had to hurt him teaching on finances, and I didn't know him.

We did meet.

Somebody introduced us and told him that I was a home builder.

Well, I wasn't currently a home builder, in fact, currently I was unemployed.

And I had to correct.

I said, well, I used to be, I lost my business, I'm unemployed right now.

So he got the wheels turning and he contacted me and asked me to come to his office.

He had proposal.

Well, I got pretty excited.

I mean, you know, I'm ready, I'm ready for anything at this point.

Has he got a broom for me?

I don't know, I'll sweep the office, but anyway, so I get on my horse and ride.

I still out of car.

So I drove across town and he said you know, I'm interested in building in such and such a place.

I won't mention the place, but it was a place where you had mature homes and they would have to be torn down and you build a new home in its place and it was a pretty.

I mean, it wasn't West U, it was better than West U.

So anyway, houston Country Club is where it was and so you know, those are even back then 35 years ago.

That's pretty healthy area.

And he said we're thinking about buying a lot.

We found this lot.

It's available and it's already torn down.

There's no house on it and it's X dollars, you know, and which was.

You know, I wasn't familiar with that area, I wasn't familiar with that market and I wasn't familiar with how much those houses cost.

Frankly, I wasn't at least bit interested in that market.

I've always built in the suburbs.

At that point in my life when I did build, so anyway, I heard what he was saying and heard what he was planning and I gave him some advice.

I said well, you know, I just think you, you know, before you decide to buy anything, you're going to have to do some more due diligence.

There's just too much that are unanswered.

You're going to have to find out, number one, what is selling there and what are people willing to pay for?

A brand new home versus a lived-in home that might need work, and those are all that.

You can't possibly go over there and buy a lot for that kind of money without knowing some questions and having them answered so that you can calculate whether there's any profit motive at all.

I just don't know if there's any prize.

Is there anybody else doing this?

Well, yeah, they're doing it in West U.

I said, well, west U is a totally different market, totally different size house, totally different location.

I wouldn't compare the two.

I don't think they're comparable.

So I just gave him the best I could give him, you know, and I guess he was impressed.

And so he called me back a week later and said man, I need to see you.

And I said he said I've got a proposal.

This time I got a hard fast proposal and I already knew what it was.

I knew what he wanted me to do.

He wanted me to work for free.

I knew that.

He wanted me to just go in business with him and at the end of the job, whenever we sold this house a year from now, I'd get a payday.

Well, you know, I wasn't interested in that.

I have to eat between now and then.

I have a family to support.

I'm not interested in a business deal, I'm interested in a salary or a wage or something like that.

And so, on the way to meeting, the Holy Ghost spoke to me audible voice.

Tell him to bake you a little cake first.

I said God, come on, I can't do that.

Ah, give me a break.

I can't say that.

I'm prophesying money out of his pocket.

Brother Hagin says don't do that.

Brother Osteen says the same thing.

Here I am giving him a prophetic word bake me a little cake first.

What that means is the prophet Elijah went to the widow woman who was about to starve.

She had nothing left.

She was about to cook her last meal and die.

And the prophet says do what you have planned to do, but bake me a little cake first for the saith the Lord.

The meal will not waste or the oil run out until the day God sends rain in Israel.

And so I knew exactly what God was saying bake me a little cake first.

In other words, pay me first and your business will be blessed.

And I argued with the Lord.

I said, god, I just I wanna obey you, but this is so bad.

I mean he's gonna think I'm just a flake and this God's not interested in how we think our reputation is gonna be.

And so I said okay, I'm gonna do it.

All right, I'm doing what you said and I'll leave the results to you.

And just as I thought he thought he laughed.

He laughed in my face and he turned to the guy in the room.

There was another guy in the room with us, which I would have preferred one-on-one, but I didn't get to pick and set that up and he said yeah, listen to this guy, man, I'll tell you that's pretty bold.

I said well, I'm just telling you what God told me.

I said absolutely, that makes no difference to me.

In any case, I can't go to work for free.

I can't do it.

I don't have a, but I have a family to support.

I'm gonna have to.

If I have to go sweet floors to make money, that's what I'll do, because I'm not about to go into business when I don't have anything to give you except talent.

You don't even know what that is because you've never worked with me.

So I'm telling you what God said, and I feel certain that I heard from God, because I didn't want to do this, I didn't want to tell you this.

I knew that your reaction might be what it's been, but, and then he felt kind of bad, but he didn't really take it back.

A year later he was broke, belly up, lost everything.

So it really was God trying to extend his hand to help him.

Hallelujah, and using a guy that's basically broke, using a guy that basically has nothing, say so, let's be prepared to prosper.

I'm telling you, god uses the weak things of this world to confound the mighty.

He uses the foolish things of the world to confound the wise and the base things of this world.

Praise God.

So our prosperity is part of our redemption.

That's what second Corinthians eight nine means.

He said you all know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ.

Second Corinthians eight nine.

Let's turn back over to it.

You all know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ that though he was rich, yet for your sakes he became poor, that you, through his poverty, might be rich.

So that is a substitution and identification.

He was made poor, he was rich and he traded his riches for our poverty.

So we can trade our poverty for his riches.

Substitution and identification.

And then the word says that you might be, that you might be rich.

Rich means having an abundant supply or a full supply.

So here we have the legal versus the functional redemption.

I like what he done be a Kenyan.

He used to say the legal versus the vital, the legal redemption versus the vital redemption.

Vital means in VCA, it's a Latin word, it means according to life.

I like to use the word functional because, you know, legally we're redeemed, but functionally are we experiencing the redemption that was paid for.

So Jesus was made poor so we could be rich.

But the might is on us.

The might is there because it depends on one's number one appropriation by faith.

You have to believe it and act on it.

See, I had to act that day when he said tell him to bake you a little cake first and explain to him.

I had to act on faith.

I had to.

And you know what.

God was then obligated to meet my needy.

Within a few weeks I had a job and I was doing a lot better.

Just a few weeks after that meeting and that man went down the tubes.

Did God want him?

No, god wanted to save him.

God had a plan for him and for me.

Are you with me now so that we might be rich, have a full supply?

So it depends on, number one, one's appropriation by faith and number two, right decisions.

You have to have the right decisions.

For instance, let's just say the man took me up on my offer, started paying me a salary and I'm showing up and I don't do what I said, I don't do the due diligence, I don't hire the right experts, I don't get the right answers to my questions and we pay too much for the lot, and then we build a house that nobody wants and the whole thing goes down the tubes.

Well, you know what?

I acted by faith, that first part.

But then I didn't make good decisions.

You got to make good decisions, which good decisions means led by the spirit decisions, cause he's always right, he's always right.

And so no shortcuts.

You know, the million dollar blessings have million dollar tests associated with them.

Be careful, what you pray for and what you want, let's just let's stay within our faith.

Let's stay within as we go, let's stretch our faith a little bit, but let's not go for the moon when we've never believed God for a quarter.

You know, let's be successful in the quarter realm and then let's move up to the dollar, move up to the $10, move up to the $100.

Are you with me now?

And you know verse 15, he said in Deuteronomy eight.

He said I've led you where there wasn't any water, there was fiery serpents and all of that that was in their preparation to go into the promised land.

God was preparing them to prosper and they had to learn how to trust God in contrary circumstances.

So there are no pacifiers in boot camp.

If you've, you know, if you've ever been to boot camp, you know there ain't no pacifiers and there wasn't any any pacifiers on God's good preparation.

He had good preparation for their prosperity.

They had to meet the conditions for prosperity.

They had to trust God, no matter what it looked like.

They had to be led and have good decisions.

Praise God.

Somebody, somebody asked a millionaire.

He says how did you get to be a millionaire?

And the guy said good decisions.

He said how did you learn to make good decisions?

He said bad decisions.

Well, you know that may be good for some people, but you know what we can learn to listen to the Holy ghost.

We can learn how the spirit operates.

I was preaching teaching on this recently.

You know about walking in the light.

I mean we need to learn to walk in the light, as he's in the light.

So prepare to prosper Right now.

I'm not talking about in the next election.

You know what my eyes are right now.

I mean I know we've got a terrible situation in America.

I know we've got a lawless government.

They are not protecting us, they're not protecting our border, they're not protecting our economy, they're not protecting our safety and they're already talking about gun control.

They want to take gun control I mean every time there's a mass murderer's gun control and that just means they want to take guns out of the hands of law abiding citizens.

It won't do anything, it'll make it worse.

And these people, you know I have my eye.

I know that's going on.

I have my eyes on God.

I know God has got a good plan.

I'm all about getting you prepared to prosper.

So I've got one, two, three, five things just to leave with you before we wind up.

Prepare to prosper.

Number one believe God's good plan.

They live, multiply, go in and possess.

That's your, that's the plan right there.

Your plan is for you to live, not die.

Oh, I wish the rapture would occur.

We've got a lot to do before the rapture gets here.

We've got a whole harvest to get.

I know on one side I would, I would love to see the rapture, but I just don't believe it's quite here.

It's close.

No, we've got some things to do.

Let's do them.

It's overcome evil with good.

That's what the Bible says to do.

There's evil going on, let's overcome it with good.

Number two so believe God's good plan.

Number two embrace God's good preparation.

If you're going through something.

Don't faint, don't give up.

This is your opportunity to prove to God that you are trusting Him.

Every day, every day, you get up looking for the manna, looking for the word that God has for you for that day.

Quit looking down the road a month.

Quit looking around the road six months.

Or 2024, for goodness sake.

Some people are talking about the election 2024.

I don't even know if we're going to have one.

I don't have any idea.

That's not where my faith is.

I thought, where my heart is on God's good, making spirit filled decisions.

Number three so that means every day I've got to go to the Word.

Every day I've got to go to Him in prayer and be dependent on Him to show me what's for that day.

So, believe God's good plan, embrace God's good preparation.

It's good preparation.

Sure, there's scorpions we step on them.

Sure, there's fiery serpents, we pick them up and throw them out of the way.

Yeah, they're there, but they don't bother us.

We get rid of them, we overcome them, amen.

Yeah, there's drought, but we drink anyway.

He'll bring water out of the rock.

And then we need to make good, spirit led decisions.

Let's not make goofy decisions.

Let's not make knee jerk decisions.

Let's not walk in the flesh.

Let's not make emotional decisions.

If you're tempted to make a decision because of pressure, take a deep breath and say I can't make this decision right now.

I'll get back to you.

Well, it's gonna be gone.

Well then it'll be gone.

See, don't let people manipulate you into a premature decision.

Until you have peace in your heart.

Amen.

And then learn from the bad decisions.

The reason I talk about mine is because I learned from those.

I don't remember them to beat myself up.

I don't remember the bad decisions to affect my faith.

I do it in order to help other people learn from my bad decisions.

And I learned from them too.

I learned how to make good ones.

That's not the best way to learn.

The best way to learn is to stay close to the Holy Ghost, but other than that, learn from your bad ones.

And then, finally, the last one, remember every day that Jesus was made poor, that you might be rich.

This is a thing that children of Israel.

They quickly forgot what God had done, and we need to always give God all the praise and all the glory for every success, for every raise, for every bit of unexpected finances that come flooding in, and let's always give Him honor and praise for that, because he's behind it.

He is the one that gives you the power, the power to get wealth.

And I wanted to mention that word power there in the Old Testament, deuteronomy 818.

It's the Hebrew word koak, and that word power means ability, it means vigor, it means strength and it also means chameleon, and that's the lizard that changes color.

It's the Greek word for the lizard that changes color.

Why add that in there?

Cause years ago God put this over to me we have to be adaptable, we have to be flexible.

We have to know how to make money when the economy is going up.

We've got to know how to make wealth when the economy is going down.

Sometimes we have to change our strategies and the Holy Ghost can show us when to make that change.

We have to be adaptable.

Don't get your feet set in concrete.

Well, I've always thought this, this, this, this, no, you know, let God do your thinking for you and let him help you and let him give you the power to get wealth.

Prepare yourself to prosper.

Amen, praise God, be encouraged.
