The Bible's up, wave them around, make Jesus glad, the devil mad.

Let's say this together say heavenly father, I'm back on Sunday night, on Father's Day, because mainly I wanna honor my heavenly father by listening and agreeing with your word.

Father.

It's your word to me, personal.

It's got my name on it.

I receive it as such and, holy Spirit, shine your light on it, illuminate its meaning to me and help me receive what it has for me In Jesus' name.

All right, let's turn in our Bibles to First Chronicles, chapter four, first Chronicles, first Chronicles.

This is kind of dovetails in with some of the messages I've been preaching recently on the blessing, on the fullness of the blessing and on obedience brings blessings.

And then this morning, what I preached this morning, I'm gonna show you the power of positive expectation.

And we have such a demonic attack on our faith, on our attitude, on our emotions, that we have to.

I just find myself wanting to counteract it and building your faith up and preaching some of the same things from a little different standpoint.

You know you get to the mountaintop a number of different ways.

You sell them one trail.

There's a lot of times you get to the mountaintop on the other side of the mountain or maybe over this side or on that side.

So tonight let's look at First Chronicles four.

The first part of that verse is talking about the sons of Judah and it gives you the baguettes and the baguettes and all of the lineage and it comes down here to verse five.

Asher, the father of Tekoa, had two wives, hila and Naira.

Naira bear him, ahuzam and Heifer and Timonai and Ha-Hashatari.

These were the sons of Naira oh, those are hard words.

And the sons of Hila were Zerath and Jezoar and Ethanan and Kauz, begat, ainub and Zobiba that's a good name, zobiba and the families of Arhel and the son of Harim.

And then, in verse nine and Jbez.

All of a sudden, up comes Jbez.

Anybody ever heard of Jbez?

Did you buy the necklace?

Come on, own up to it.

You bought the necklace at the Christian bookstore, right?

Pathetic, all right.

Jbez was more honorable than his brethren.

Ain't that amazing At all, these brethren?

God said.

He's more honorable, more honorable.

God knows what's in a seed.

He's more honorable than his brethren and his mother.

She needed a spanking.

Why?

Well, because she called his name Jbez, which means sorrowful.

I mean, that's almost as bad as a boy named Sue Not quite as bad, but pretty bad.

I mean it's pretty bad.

But he named him sorrowful and God said he's honorable.

More honorable she didn't, so she couldn't have been walking in the spirit, she could not have heard from God on that name.

What did she do?

Well, because it says, because I bear him with sorrow or with pain, she had a lot of pain, you know, maybe he weighed 13 pounds, I don't know, maybe she weighed 95 pounds and he weighed 13 pounds.

Well, that would make you sorrowful, all right.

So she bear him with sorrow, named him, named him after her childbirth pain.

I mean, that's kind of stupid.

If you ask me, sorry, doesn't name her.

So I can plead ignorance.

I can say I did not say that.

And JBS called him a God of Israel, saying, oh, that that would bless me indeed.

The word indeed means abundantly.

Don't just give me half a tank, don't give me a partial load.

I got a one ton pickup and I want a one ton payload.

He said, oh, that you would bless me indeed, and in large my coast or my borders or my territory, and that thine hand might be with me and that thou wouldst keep me from evil, that it may not grieve me.

Man, there's a guy that is fed up with sorrow and grief and the moniker his mama hung around his neck and he made him feel bad, made him feel like everybody thought he was, made them feel.

He felt like he was causing a lot of grief just because of his name, if ever.

And really the literal meaning of his name is oh the pain.

So, oh the pain.

Come over here, clean the table off.

Come on, wash the dishes off and put them in the dishwasher.

Oh the pain.

Would you go out and get the newspaper?

Take out the garbage?

Oh the pain.

I mean, after a while, you know you just, you're just fed up with being called that oh the pain.

What did he say?

Oh God, bless me, indeed, bless me indeed, that your hand would be with me and that you would keep me from the evil, that it might not grieve me.

And God granted him that which he requested.

So I wanted to talk about enlargement tonight and he said, oh, enlarge my territory, expand my borders.

And of course, what is territory?

What territory and what the word coast there?

It means your inheritance, it means to expand it.

Sometimes we have the idea that it's cast in stone, that whatever it is that we have coming is just sitting there and that's all there is.

No, god can make it bigger.

God can expand your influence.

He can expand your territory and therefore, because it's an agricultural society, that's the same as saying you can expand my income Because the more territory you had, the more money you made.

And that's what I wanted to talk about, and I wanted to talk about that the more territory you had, the more money you made planting.

Are y'all with me now Talking about enlargement tonight?

I am not willing that anybody in this church decrease during all of this hokey, nutty stuff that's going on.

There's absolutely no reason why anybody in this church should reap any curses.

We are blessed and we cannot be cursed.

You know, america has got some curses.

America has got some things that they're going to have to pay for.

But we're not America, we're the church.

We live in America.

I love America, but no, don't get yourself mixed up.

This is the danger that we have is that we'll start transferring.

I mean, I see it on my Facebook page all the time.

Well, this country, you see.

Well, god's going to judge you.

Are you for us or against us?

Come on, if God's going to destroy America, what's he going to do with Europe.

He's a lot worse there and has been for a lot longer.

Yeah, there's a lot to be paid for here in America with some of the things that we're doing and all of that, but the church is still here.

Let's not play like we're not here.

We're the change agents.

As I said this morning, we're to make a difference.

So the Bible says that he was more honorable.

That word honorable is the Hebrew word kabed, it's kind of the word kaboad, which means gold.

It means weightiness, valuable, substantial, substantive.

Remember that word we had this morning our faith.

Remember we did the Johnny Manziel.

You know faith is a substance of things.

Remember that.

You know our faith is substantive.

Faith is a substance of things hope for the evidence of things not seen.

You can't feel it with your natural fingers, but let me tell you it's more real than your fingers.

It's more real than the trouble that you face.

It's more real than this world's trouble that's going on in America and everywhere else.

You all with me.

Now, the way that people are talking, we're calling ourselves oh the pain, oh the pain.

No, I thought my name.

I bear the name of Jesus.

I'm not in any way connected to pain and suffering.

Glory to God.

The only suffering we're going to have is a suffering of persecution and being called names and just being lied about.

That just comes with the territory.

Are y'all with me now?

So his name was a problem.

He had that thing hung around his neck.

It affected his childhood and about the time he got to be old enough to realize it he just broke out of that.

He was stuck in an unfair identity.

His identity was all wrong because of his mother.

Maybe you had squirrely parents.

I don't know, I had some good parents, but maybe you didn't.

Maybe you had squirrely parents.

It happens.

There's no use in you suffering just because your mother and father weren't very.

You know the sharpest knife in the drawer.

I mean spiritually speaking, I mean I mean you know, some people are just clueless.

They don't know how to talk, they're lost.

Like I said this morning, the world is programmed negatively.

You may have been talked down to, you may have been depreciated, you may have been abused.

You may have been physically, mentally and every other way abused and all of that kind of thing.

Listen, you can break out of that, hallelujah.

You can get identified with the one that rules the world.

That's who I identify with.

I identify with Jesus.

I'm not going to identify with failures, I'm not going to identify with the curse.

Something in him said I'm coming out of this, I'm not putting up with this another day.

We can just read between the lines See, that's what I do when I meditate.

I put myself, I become J-Bez.

I just like J, I become J-Bez.

I just put on the whole way it feels.

What if my mother had named me?

Oh the pain.

No, my mother kind of went through that a little bit.

She, her mother, named her Walter Walter Elizabeth Griner, that was her name.

She was named after her father and her mother.

Her mother's name was Elizabeth and her father's name was John Walter Patterson.

He was killed in a train wreck or train accident, I guess it was before she was born.

Her mother, which I called my grandmother, it was Mama Pat.

I called her Mama Pat and she lived with us my whole life till she died, when I was about, I guess, 11,.

She passed away but she was a Cajun woman, you know.

She couldn't read, write, she couldn't drive, but she could cook.

Oh, she could cook, she.

You know, if you can make squirrel taste like anything, you're a pretty good cook.

That's what Cajuns do.

Cajuns make something good out of something bad.

They eat the gosh-awfulest things.

I'm sorry, if you're Cajun, I don't care, I'm Park Cajun, so I could say what I want to my grandmother.

But they eat, oh, they eat.

You know all kind of stuff and they make it taste, you know.

As long as you don't know what it is, you got to disguise it a little bit with gum real dark, rude dark gumbo.

You know.

That's why it's.

You know the color of the used motor oil.

You know that dark and it coats, coats, everything, so that you don't really know what it is.

You're eating it's mystery meat.

It's mystery and you're kind of afraid at first.

You're not sure.

But anyway, her name was Walter.

I mean I don't know what I'd have done if I was a woman and my name was Walter.

I mean, you know, it's terrible, that is.

Don't come in here and say, oh, that's a.

You know that's a common woman.

No, it's not a common woman's name.

Okay, leslie can be and Leslie can go either way.

Sometimes there's some names you know out there that are that kind of go either way, but Walter is, you know Walter.

So I you know.

Just to be facetious.

I always tell people I'm named after my mother, john John Walter Griners.

But actually I was named after my grandfather.

But see, my my grandmother was mourning the death of her husband, who died before my, my mother was born, and my mother was the last of four children she was the youngest and and just out of a pain and sorrow, she named her, her daughter, walter, and so my mother was stuck with it.

Well, nobody ever said anything.

So, growing up, we grew up you know, first part of my life in Houston and Delaney Park, and so all the aunts and uncles, you know, and the cousins, the cousins, all ain't Walter, ain't Walter, ain't Walter, hey Walter, hey Walter.

And all you know, the sister-in-laws and all the family around you know they all called her Walter, and I never.

I'm too, I'm just a kid, I don't know that.

She doesn't like her name.

So then, when I'm 10, we moved to Refuria, south Texas, and we hadn't been there very long.

And then one day, in the car, just just the three of us, my dad, mother and myself I'm just 10, 11 years old and she had a frank talk with my dad.

She said okay, we're in a new town, we've got new surroundings and I am no longer Walter, I will be known as Liz.

That is my name from now on.

And he looked at her Liz, I like it, yeah yeah.

And he went right along.

My dad went right along with her Because, I mean, he never called her by name anyway, he just called her honey or sugar or whatever.

You know how husbands don't ever call their wives by their name, and so at least I don't.

Glad it doesn't like her name, so she don't like me calling her, glad it, so I don't.

I call her honey, sugar, but don't tell her I said so.

Anyway, a lot of people don't like their names.

I'm telling you, this guy didn't like his name.

He changed everything, didn't he?

He brought, he busted out, and so my mother did.

And so when she, she took up golf and she on the golf course, she's Liz Griner, and the bowling alley she's Liz, and at church she's Liz, everybody called her Liz, until we'd get around the rest of the family here in Houston, and then it was Walter, and my dad held his hand up, said oh, no more, it's not Walter anymore, it's Liz.

And they, you know, to their credit, they all picked up on it.

They honored her by calling her what she wanted to be called.

Why am I saying this?

Because we've got to have.

We've got to stand up for something.

We've got to stand up for ourselves sometime.

You can't just let people run over you.

This man had let his mother run over him and his family.

You know his brothers and sisters probably.

Hey, there's go.

Here comes Sarifold man.

He's named, right.

Yeah, you know, you'd have that sibling rivalry going all the time and you grew up stunted.

You grow up with a kind of a complex.

Listen, this man knew the God of Israel.

He rose up and he began to assert his rights under the covenant that he had with God.

Come on, let's lift our hands right now.

We have a better covenant than he did.

I said we have a better covenant than he did.

I want to get this into you.

I don't want any victims in this church.

I don't want anybody, you know, being in this church being intimidated by this world system.

I tell you, I don't care if inflation is 50%, I don't care what happens to the economy.

We are blessed, we're blessed, we're blessed.

So they said you know, I don't want to be causing any more sorrow.

I don't want any sorrow coming toward me.

I don't want any more grief.

I don't want any more sorrow coming to me.

I don't want any more sorrow coming to me.

I don't want any more sorrow coming to me.

I'm done with it.

God bless me and bless me abundantly.

Bless me profusely another word for that Profusely.

Everybody say profusely.

There's something about that word.

I like that word Profusely.

Kind of, go ahead and spit a little bit when you say it and keep pain and grief away.

I wanna be a blessing.

I wanna be blessed to be a blessing.

That was God's plan, for Israel was to bless them to be a blessing.

Isn't that what he told Abraham?

I'll bless you and make your name great and you shall be a blessing.

That came through the line that was in J-Bez.

He got it.

He's more honorable than his knucklehead brothers and sisters and even his mama.

He gets it.

He got it from a young age and he broke out.

Are y'all getting any of this?

I feel like, well, you just keep harping on.

I'm not gonna quit until you get it.

I'm not gonna stop till we're all so blessed.

We just Roll.

We're just piles of cash.

We're so loaded we have to roll down the aisle instead of walk.

Now look, jaybez had to make some adjustments and we've implied those adjustments.

Other were well, what did he?

Well, he had to throw off the old.

He had to throw off the old way of thinking that was imposed on him by his family and that his mother and all the everybody around him.

We have to do the same thing.

You, you have been to a great degree and I'm not talking bad about your family, but I'm just saying it's common.

Maybe you're an exception.

I really I had a great mother and dad.

I really did.

They weren't perfect, but they're.

You know, I don't have any trauma, except my dad died when I was, when he was 66.

That was kind of tough.

Talk about not prepared.

Now, we were not prepared.

You know Lonnie's 94, so you kind of prepared for that.

But but dad six, my dad 66, he.

I Went hunting with him in my 30s and he walked me into the ground.

I couldn't keep up with him.

Here he is 61, 62 years old and I could not.

He, he out, walked me.

I mean I just, hey, can you slow down a little bit?

We're walking through knee-high Prickly pear and everything else Dear hunting, can't keep up with him and just like that, you know, cancer got him and so I was unprepared.

So that was kind of traumatic.

I wasn't saved, I didn't know how to handle it, but praise God.

So J Benz had to make some adjustments.

He had to throw off the old.

He had to break loose from getting stuck, mischaracterized, misunderstood.

Frankly it was unjust, this thing that had been hung on him.

Every woman has pain and childbirth.

That's just part of life.

What if everybody named their kids song?

What if everybody named their kid sorrow?

I mean, it's nuts.

He had to make adjustments in his heart.

He had to make adjustments in his thinking.

He had to make, he had to be obedient to the word of God that many had to tithe.

There you go again.

Well, I'm not going to stop because you have, you have to tie, you need to tie.

We have new members.

Maybe they don't know that.

Well, I'm going to teach it so people can grab a hold and change their life.

It changed my life when I got this message and again, god granted his Request.

It says that and God granted him that which he requested.

I mean he got more territory, he got set free from sorrow and grief.

There was nothing around him.

He didn't cause any grief and he didn't take any grief.

That's kind of like me.

I'm not giving any viruses and I'm not taking any virus.

People look at me funny.

Still Still, people still, I mean, even after all this time people, people are just traumatized and they look at me like what planet are you from now?

I look at them like what planet are you from?

Let's look at Isaiah 61.

Get anything out of this.

Well, I'm enjoying myself anyway.

Praise the Lord, verse seven For your shame you shall have double oh, that's a good one and for confusion they shall rejoice in their portion.

Therefore, in their land they shall possess the double.

Everlasting joy shall be unto them.

I'll go for the double.

How about you?

Would you?

Would you like to have twice as much For your shame?

So I kind of applies to jay bez.

He had shame for the first part of his life, but he broke out of the shame.

He broke out off of him.

He refused to be identified with that stuff and he came out of there said okay, god, I'm ready for the blessing.

I want my coast, I want my territory expanded.

I heard brother mark share this that Dick mills was at His dad's church bb hankin's church there in west columbia.

One time anybody ever heard of dick mills he's a prophet real unusual ministry.

He prophesied the word.

He'll go through the crowd, prophesy the word over you.

And so this was back when brother mark was a teenager and was having trouble being a preacher's kid.

And you know He'd gotten into trouble, you know, and they had to come bail him out of jail and the dad was mad at him and and you know he talks about how the I don't know if it was the head usher or one of the main elders was the only one, and there was a whole group of elders came did the jail to bail him out and they all scowled at him, except this one older fella.

And he said all mark is gonna be all right, he's the only one that encouraged him.

That's kind of tough, you know, ouch.

But Dick Mills was in the church and he gave a word I guess he must have heard about it and he gave a word to BB Hankins.

He gave him Isaiah 61,7.

For your shame, you're gonna get double and in your land you'll possess the double and everlasting joy.

You know, I'd say that that's exactly happened.

I mean, look at the kind of ministry, this young boy that was in such trouble when he was 17,.

Look what he's turned into.

And also his brothers.

Both of his brothers are successful ministers, I'd say.

You know Pastor Hankins, bb Hankins, I'm pretty sure he would agree that that scripture was fulfilled.

Hallelujah, thank you.

It was 1990.

And a friend of mine from Lakewood, they.

He was on Brother Osteen's board, his advisory board.

He was a president of Med Center Bank, john Sitton and I knew John when his wife died, laverne, she died of cancer, took her several years, she was sick for a long time and John was at the first service in our first building.

He was.

He came that first time we ever had a search service.

John did, but I had a bank account with my company, my building company, at his bank and Laverne had been gone about six months.

Anyway, he called me one morning and says hey, I haven't seen your house that you're building over there.

I sure would like to see it.

I said well, I'll tell you what.

I'll come by the bank and pick you up, bring you over to West U, we'll take a look at it.

All right, great.

So we pulled up in the driveway and he said yeah, john, I've got a question I've been wanting to ask you.

And before we go in and look at the building at your house, he said you know, laverne's been gone six months.

He said man I?

He said I, really, I think I've fallen in love and I'm really thinking about getting married.

I said really, john, really John.

Oh, I wanted to ask him who you know, but I'm trying to be polite.

But what he wanted to do, he said well, I just hesitate because I just wonder what people think.

Will it be scandalous, you know, if she's only been gone six months?

I said, john, what do you care what people think?

You're an upstanding citizen, you're a spirit filled, fine example of a Bible believing man.

I said anybody that would judge you on that just hadn't walked in your shoes, I wouldn't even give it a second thought.

Now tell me who it is.

Well, it's Phyllis Walling.

I said Phyllis Walling?

Oh my God.

Yeah, because Gladys and I, when we first landed Lakewood, one of the first people we met was Phyllis and she was Brother Osteen's financial secretary for decades, very trusted staff member, precious woman.

She was a widow of many years.

He died.

Her husband had died in probably at that time probably 12, 13, 15 years before.

So I mean, there, here, they are adults.

I mean, the kids are grown.

And they said, what's the big deal?

Be happy.

And they got married, praise God, gladys, and I got to hang out with them a few times.

So anyway, they called me this was in 1990, and said, hey, we're going to ET Vangelistic Temple, dick Mills is gonna be there.

I said, well, I've heard of Dick Mills and it was an off night, like Tuesday night, we weren't competing with Lakewood, and so would you and Gladys like to go?

I said, yeah, we'd love to go.

So we went and we're just in the service and we're enjoying.

You know, he's going through the crowd and he's prophesying and he comes up to me and he just banged man.

He comes right to me, he starts prophesying and he says, sir, you've got a promotion coming.

In fact it's past due.

Man, my heart leaped up in my chest.

I mean I went whoa glory to God, I could take that.

He said let me give you the scripture, isaiah 54.

It's turned back to Isaiah 54, verse two Enlarge the place of your tent.

That's what we're talking about tonight, enlargement.

Enlarge the place of your tent and let them stretch forth the curtains of our habitation, spare not.

Lengthen thy cords and strengthen thy stakes, for thou shalt break forth on the right hand and on the left, and thy seed shall inherit the Gentiles and make the desolate cities to be inhabited.

Well, man, I left there.

I was 10 foot tall, I mean, you know, thank God, I had a word and they were just.

Of course, you know, phyllis is on staff and she said John, I just bear witness with that, I really do.

I believe you're gonna get a call from brother Osteen.

I just know you are.

Well, I'd already been promoted, I'm ordained, I've got a position of great influence and very public, prominent position.

I wouldn't look in for anything, but he did, he did call me.

He said one day at church, you know, and this is the way it always was there yeah, I never could have a private conversation with the man.

I mean, you had to be in an office by yourself because their mamas, my mama, didn't raise those people.

See, my mama would slap my face if I interrupted anybody, like I was always interrupted.

We would be having a conversation just like here, just like this, and somebody would come up in between and interrupt.

I mean, my mother would absolutely wear me out If I ever did that.

That's so rude.

Don't ever do that.

I don't ever interrupt somebody like that.

But it was constant.

So he came up one day, kind of coy, with his little smile.

He said John, have you ever thought about being in the full-time ministry?

I said what?

And before I could say anything, here comes somebody and I couldn't find out what he's talking about.

I said I gotta find out.

So I called, talked to him on the phone yeah, come on in, let's talk.

So y'all would be a job paying nothing.

I mean, god, it was horrible.

I said bro, those things, I had worked for that since I was 22.

I got kids.

I got one going into college, one in high school and that's just not enough.

I can't work for that.

But I will pray.

I'll pray.

I mean I'll consider what.

You're, my pastor.

I mean you're offering me this job.

And then I started asking questions.

It was just like a job like administrative, and I was not at all.

I had no witness and I felt guilty.

Here's my pastor, he's making a demand on me and I don't have any witness that it's God's will for me.

And so all I could do is kind of stumble around and say well, brother, I'll stay and I'm gonna go home and talk to Gladys and we'll pray and we'll talk more about it.

You know, I'm willing to obey God.

I can tell you that absolutely.

And I went home and Gladys was sitting there and she said for you, say anything, I'm willing to do whatever you wanna do.

If you wanna go to work at Lakewood, that's fine, we'll just make it work.

I'll go back to work.

I said, doing what?

Selling shoes?

You don't even know computers.

I mean there's no kind of work you can do.

She was an executive secretary, you know, before that.

But all the technology had passed her by.

She had no knowledge of word processing and the modern office.

I mean, she took shorthand and all of that and was rusty on that part.

But I mean, people didn't do that anymore People.

You know, it was just a different world.

Now, besides that, honey, I don't really wanna do it.

I don't feel like it's preaching, I don't feel like it's anything that I'm gonna wanna do every day.

Getting up in the morning and going to work to do administrative work, that's what I'm already doing.

I'm doing that for houses.

I don't feel like it's a lateral move as far as our ministry's concerned.

I really hate to think about telling him no, but I think I'm gonna have to.

Well, I didn't have to because later that day Renee Branson called and she didn't know anything.

She just said call John Griner, tell him that thing we talked about yesterday, put it on hold.

And so that's all she did.

She didn't know what I, you know.

She didn't know my business.

So she said Pastor Osteen told me to call you.

Johnny said that thing y'all talked about yesterday, put it on hold.

I said oh, thank you, thank you, thank you, god.

I'm glad this promotion is not the promotion, but that wasn't the promotion.

I said this is the promotion.

Right, took a while longer, but this one was the one that was worth waiting for.

Hallelujah, we possess the double.

I'll tell you, I see double.

Have you ever been drunk to where you see double?

I mean that's.

You know, when you're drunk in the Holy Ghost, your spirit sees double.

Maybe you need to get drunk in the Holy Ghost so you can see twice as much as you did before.

Maybe you need to pray in tongues twice as much as you ever have until you can see twice as much as you've ever seen before.

You're gonna have to see it.

You're gonna have to be persuaded by it.

You're gonna have to know it belongs to you.

Are you with me now?

Hallelujah, everybody say I'm possessing the double.

My territory is being enlarged.

No more shame, no more grief and sorrow.

Yesterday's gone.

Come on, say it out loud Yesterday's gone.

God has given me double for the trouble.

He's given me fame for the shame.

Doesn't that feel good?

Praise God.

You have to double dance.

We're gonna have to double shout.

Just think about Lonnie.

Right now he is probably jumping up 15, 20 foot in the air, probably twirling around doing somersaults.

We're doubly strong.

We have the double anointing.

Why?

Because the end time demands the church to rise up and be stronger than ever before.

When I look at the book of Acts and see what happened in the book of Acts, I know that better than that is in our future.

Better than that, more miracles, more provision is in our future and it can't be very much further out.

It's gotta be pretty close by Amen.

So let's stir ourselves up to believe God, to increase our territory.

Amen, glory to God.

Come on, lift your hands and receive Hallelujah.

You're enlarged.

You know when you pray the prayer of Ephesians, chapter three.

Let me just read it to you.

You know it, but you know I pray this every day, father.

I pray that you would grant me, according to the riches of your glory, to be strengthened with might by your spirit and my inner man.

That Christ may dwell in my heart and have a happy home in my heart by faith.

That I, being rooted and grounded and loved, may be able to comprehend with all saints what is the length, depth and breadth and height, and know the love of Christ which passes all knowledge.
