-
your Bibles up, wave them around, make Jesus glad, the devil bad.
-
Say this together, say, heavenly Father, it's so wonderful to be under the anointing.
-
The presence of God is so rich in this place.
-
It's conducive for me to learn some things, since I don't know everything.
-
I'm still learning about the anointing, I'm still learning about the ways of the kingdom and I want to learn all that I can so I can represent you effectively in these last days.
-
In Jesus' name, amen.
-
Let's turn in our Bibles, please, to.
-
I think we'll start with Acts 10, 38.
-
And this is.
-
We mentioned this verse this morning.
-
This morning we talked about the cooperating with the anointing.
-
The anointing in the New Testament means smearing.
-
It's like you know.
-
You're marked with oil or grease, and how many of you know it's not talking about regular oil, it's talking about the Holy Ghost, amen.
-
And tonight I want to talk about leaning on the anointing.
-
That's the title of the message, leaning.
-
It's kind of similar.
-
And when I'm talking about leaning on the anointing, I'm talking about the anointing upon you for service.
-
I'm talking about you know we have two anointings, don't we?
-
We have the anointing within Talked about that this morning.
-
That's when you get saved, the Holy Ghost comes and takes up residence on the inside of you and your body becomes the temple of the Holy Ghost which you have of God.
-
You're not your own anymore.
-
You've been bought with a price, and so that's the anointing within Verse John 2, 27.
-
But then the anointing that I'm talking about leaning on tonight is the anointing upon you, the anointing for your ministry.
-
Everybody say I have a ministry, every believer has a ministry.
-
When I got ahold of this 40-plus years ago, sitting under John Osteen at Lakewood Church, I mean it changed my life.
-
It's what I.
-
I just didn't realize what I was missing in life before I got saved.
-
I didn't realize what God had in mind for my life until I got saved and I started going there and finding out, and it's so fulfilling.
-
So I'm talking about leaning on that anointing on the anointing upon you.
-
And so let's look at Acts, chapter 10, verse 38.
-
Peter is preaching to Cornelius's house, a centurion of the Italian band, he's a Gentile and in verse 38, how God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Ghost and power, who went about doing good and healing all who were oppressed of the devil.
-
For God was with him.
-
And so you know that's news to a whole lot of Christians.
-
They thought Jesus.
-
Well, you know, jesus is God and Jesus is the Son of God.
-
There's no question about that.
-
In his ministry, he, he laid his, his title aside, he became as a man, he humbled himself and he no longer functioned on this earth as the Son of God.
-
He was, but he wasn't functioning that way and he didn't use his title and his privilege as the second person of the Godhead.
-
Instead, he lived life as a man.
-
And then, once he got filled with the Holy Ghost you know, when John baptized him in the river Jordan, he saw the, the, the spirit of God, come upon him.
-
Jesus did, and so did.
-
John saw the spirit of God come upon him as a dove, like a dove.
-
It wasn't a dove, but it like a dove and he was filled with the Holy Ghost and driven by the spirit into the wilderness.
-
We tempted the devil 40 days and 40 nights, and then the Bible says that he came in the power of the spirit in the Galilee and that's when his miracle ministry began.
-
He began after he was baptized or filled with the Holy Ghost.
-
So if Jesus is our example and he has to be filled with the Holy Ghost.
-
He had an anointing upon him and that's what Claire read that verse tonight.
-
He said in Luke 4, 18, the spirit of the Lord is upon me because he have anointed me to do something.
-
What?
-
To minister to five groups of people.
-
So I'm talking about leaning on that anointing acts one, eight.
-
Let's look at that, that one.
-
Jesus is talking to the disciples and he said but you shall receive power after the Holy Ghost has come upon you and you shall be witnesses unto me, both in Jerusalem and in Judea, samaria and under the uttermost part of the earth.
-
So essentially, jesus is telling the disciples don't leave home without it, don't try to go preach the gospel to every creature without being baptized in the Holy Ghost.
-
You'll be baptized in the Holy Ghost not many days from now or when.
-
How many days was it?
-
Well, it was, it was on the, on the 50th day.
-
So 50 means Pentecost means 50.
-
So they were all filled with the Holy Ghost.
-
They began to speak in tongues.
-
So talking about leaning on that anointing, you see, that is the anointing that is so powerful that we got a glimpse of tonight that God was using my ministry to minister to people.
-
Sometimes I, I just, you know, we just have an altar calling, everybody comes up and we have life team members lay hands on people.
-
That's the corporate anointing is powerful.
-
I mean, we've had, we've had so amazing miracles up here at the front of the church that I didn't have anything to do with personally.
-
I remember one little girl was deaf in one ear and God healed her instantly.
-
Boom, her ear opened up.
-
She was about, I don't know, eight or nine years old at the time.
-
He's a teenager now.
-
I mean, just amazing.
-
I mean, you know, we've had all kind of tremendous miracles like that.
-
We don't put God in the box, we have God.
-
We let God do it, do it however he wants to do it.
-
But then, on the other hand, you know, I'm just perfectly willing for the spirit of God to use me and the gifts of the spirit and, and if that's the way that the service goes, we're comfortable with that.
-
If it doesn't happen that way, then we go the other way.
-
We can always lay hands on people, amen.
-
So leaning on the anointing.
-
You know, zachariah, four, six says you know, not by might, and more by power, by my spirit, the Lord, not by army, it's not by an army of people, it's by the anointing.
-
Isaiah 10, 27, you know, is another powerful verse.
-
It says the yoke shall be destroyed because of the anointing.
-
What is a yoke?
-
Well, the devil seeks to put people in bondage.
-
A yoke speaks of a wooden harness that goes around the neck of a beast of burden, like an ox or a donkey, and then they attach the straps to that where they drag a plow or they pull a wagon or whatever.
-
Well, the devil is trying to put a yoke of bondage around the neck and essentially the anointing makes the neck fat and it blows the, it destroys the yoke.
-
I mean literally, the anointing just comes from within and that person, that yoke, is destroyed.
-
It can't be put back.
-
You know, if you break a yoke you could somehow fix it, but when it's destroyed, there's no fixing it.
-
The devil can't put it back on you.
-
I said the devil can't put it back on you.
-
That's what happened to Kim tonight.
-
Kim got free of some stuff that she's fought for decades Now.
-
I knew about those things in the natural and I don't know why.
-
I mean, I see again gifts of the spirit.
-
I don't control those.
-
God is as the spirit wills.
-
But during praise and worship I saw myself praying for Kim.
-
I saw myself praying for Aja, ney, I mean, I just saw myself, just so, I just did it.
-
It's so good to get to do something.
-
I see myself do it Because I knew that that would be the beginning of then whatever God wanted to do.
-
The next thing was everybody that had skin problem.
-
Well, there's a whole bunch of people had skin conditions, some were worse than others, and on and on and on.
-
And then I had a word of knowledge about top of a foot.
-
Well, that was William, I was Bill, and I mean that had been hurting him for a month or more.
-
I didn't know all about it, but God knew all about it, see.
-
So what happened?
-
Well, we got to see what the anointing will do.
-
When you just yield to the anointing, it'll take you down a river, take you down all kind of places, and you couldn't get there on your own.
-
It's just another way for God to meet the need.
-
He wants to do that in your life.
-
If you'll learn to lean on the anointing God gave you, you may not any of you be in the five fold ministry.
-
What we talk about, the apostle prophet Vanjah's pastor, teacher, that's five fold ministry, matt, not being that part of it, but every believer has a ministry.
-
That means you have an anointing, that means you have a calling.
-
Recently I challenged everybody to find out where their place of service is in this church.
-
I mean a good thing, instead of fooling around with New Year's resolutions.
-
So I gave you know I talk about important things.
-
You know, like a couple of weeks ago right after Christmas I think it was and one of the important things was find out your place of service.
-
I mean, I asked the Holy Ghost what he wants you to do here is.
-
You're here for a reason.
-
You're not just here to be ministered to, but you're here to serve.
-
For some of you you're serving in a way that you're not necessarily a volunteer here.
-
That's fine.
-
I know about a number of you that are helping us in other ways, and so I'm not fussing that you don't take this as a fussing.
-
I'm just challenging people to find out what is God's plan and you are anointed to do that.
-
You have the spirit of God upon you.
-
See, you couldn't even be an usher in the early church unless you had an anointing.
-
He had to be filled with the Holy Ghost and wisdom.
-
He said find out seven men of honest report, full of the Holy Ghost and wisdom to appoint over this business.
-
So what was the business he was talking to?
-
He was waiting tables.
-
I mean you have to have an anointing, you have to have a supernatural gifting to really serve God properly.
-
Anything done in the flesh is gonna fail, but the anointing, oh the anointing.
-
So I'm talking about leaning on that anointing.
-
Now we can another way to.
-
I preached this not long ago leaning on the Holy Ghost.
-
In other words, that's the anointing within.
-
So I mean, you know, we all come up against trouble and problems in our life, whether they're health issues or family issues, children issues, parent issues, whatever they are, and sometimes we've got to lean on the Holy Ghost on the inside of us.
-
We've got to realize that the greater one lives on the inside.
-
He's there to put us over.
-
So I'm not really talking about that tonight.
-
That's for you, that's between you and your situation.
-
This is bigger.
-
This is about you, and when you encounter needs that are bigger you always do when you minister to people, make yourself available you'll come up against needs that are bigger than you can meet.
-
You'll come up against trouble that's so bad that makes you wanna run the other way, makes you wanna say mm-hmm, god, would you pick somebody else?
-
I don't feel qualified, god, I don't feel qualified, I don't.
-
You know, sister, so-and-so, she's probably a whole lot more mature than I am.
-
I, god, I just don't think.
-
I don't think I'm.
-
No, you're the one you came across it.
-
Quit looking for somebody else.
-
You need to learn to lean on the anointing upon you.
-
Amen.
-
If I say I'm leaning hard on the anointing upon me, I mean, what do you do when you come up against those things?
-
Hit your knees and just cry and bump.
-
And, oh God, what am I gonna do with a situation?
-
It's so bad I can't even hear about it.
-
I'm so sad just listening to this person.
-
You know that's what happens.
-
You know you get emotionally involved with people in their trouble and you know if you get emotionally involved with somebody in their trouble, they can't really help them because you're just commiserating with them.
-
You know you're sympathizing.
-
No, that's not what this is.
-
No, we've got to stay in a place where we know the one that's upon us can help them.
-
Oh, y'all, y'all were looking at me kind of funny, but the Sunday night.
-
You know this is meat and we need to be prepared for what's ahead.
-
Well, let me tell you what's ahead for us in this church is a lot of pain and misery out there is gonna come in here.
-
I said a lot of pain and misery out there is gonna come in here and you are gonna have to do something about it.
-
That's why I'm teaching you how to do it.
-
I'm teaching you, you know, tonight I demonstrated, by precepting example, how to deal with certain things.
-
You were paying attention.
-
See, if you're coming, instead of just sitting there watching, always think about you know, I'm receiving impartation right now.
-
I'm gonna be able to use what I saw my pastor do here tonight.
-
I'm gonna be able to use that out there.
-
I'm gonna be able to use that in the marketplace.
-
I'm gonna be able to use that next Tuesday when I go back to work, I'm gonna be able to see, think that way.
-
Start challenging yourself to not always just be on the receiving end, but start challenging yourself to be taught in such a way that you can use the information in your ministry.
-
Everybody say I've got a ministry.
-
Amen, you do.
-
So.
-
What do you do when you come up against situations that are just really, you feel unqualified for.
-
You feel a little intimidated, you feel like this is way above me.
-
I need to find somebody else that knows more about the Bible and can quote scripture better than me.
-
I need somebody else.
-
See, what do you do?
-
Whether there's nobody else, you're the one, you're the point.
-
So stir up the gift.
-
Second, timothy talked about chapter one, verse six.
-
He told Timothy, he said stir up the gift that was giving you.
-
Stir it up.
-
The Amplified says rekindle the embers, fan the flame and keep burning the gracious gift of God.
-
How many of you know, when you got baptized in the Holy Ghost, you got something real.
-
Yeah, you got something real.
-
It's the third person of the Godhead, it's God.
-
The anointing is God upon you with you, amen.
-
I mean you're not there by yourself.
-
You might feel like you know the devil works so hard to make you feel unworthy, intimidated, you know not up to the task.
-
That's how he works.
-
I Remember almost every trip I took, I had an opportunity to feel that way.
-
Almost every trip I took, I mean you know I'm going to do things that really, in the natural light, I just had stirred myself up because I mean I just felt so, who am I I mean you know just who am I to go and and and stand before.
-
I think the first meeting I did in the Philippines, the very first one I ever did, was in Cebu City and there were 700 ministers and full-time Preachers in the audience.
-
First one I'd ever done on my own.
-
I've done one with brother hosting 2200, so I knew how to do it.
-
I'd been done another one that had several hundred in Paris, so I'd done a couple of pastors meetings and that's where I got the idea, you know.
-
You know, but those things, that dinner, john, you just need these pastors, they need somebody to come wash their feet.
-
They, you can impart to them.
-
One man or woman, one message can change one man or woman.
-
One man or woman can change a nation, and the Biggest ones to change that nation, all the pastors and leaders.
-
He said, john is just so important to have pastors conferences, and so that's where I got the idea.
-
So that's what we did, and you know, but I felt I mean I had an On my way there, I felt more comfortable with that.
-
I mean I felt like, okay, I'm one of them, I can give them something, because I had confidence in the knowledge and the revelation that I carried and I knew it was superior to what they had.
-
I knew it was.
-
I mean, you know you get off into developing nations and they, they, they're lacking.
-
It's getting better all the time, but back then there you didn't have near the coverage you to do now with the internet and so forth, youtube and all of that.
-
It's different now that it was in the in the 90s when I first started.
-
But I felt more comfortable there than I did the night meeting.
-
So the night meetings were for the lost, the night meetings I'm traveling.
-
I remember one one time I'm traveling they came and picked me up at the hotel, the whole.
-
I use the word.
-
You know it's what they called a hotel.
-
It did have a window unit.
-
I was grateful for that.
-
My brother was with me on that trip.
-
He had.
-
He did not have the deluxe room, that mean he had a single bed, but my room had a double bed, had a chair and a table and a candlestick and it was well.
-
I mean it was good enough for Elijah's, good enough for me, but anyway, they had one place to eat in there and I and we, you know, we looked at the menu and I was kind of.
-
It was mostly Filipino cuisine, which I wasn't a big fan of, and but they did have pad Thai.
-
If you know what pad Thai is?
-
A noodle dish it's.
-
It's really more Chinese pad Thai's noodles and shrimp.
-
And you know we're in a coastal town, so I wasn't afraid of the shrimp.
-
You know you're a developing country, you don't want to eat seafood in the middle of a developing country because you know it's rotten, you know it's not any good, you know it's gonna give you poison, right.
-
But we're right on the coast in this town and so I had confidence.
-
Shrimp I could eat the shrimp that was in the pad Thai, and so my brother and I we ate pad Thai twice a day, every day.
-
But anyway, on the way to the venue that night, that's when the devil would come he said oh, you've got it.
-
Now You've got to get these people healed.
-
You're not gonna get a single healing and then your whole meeting is gonna fall apart.
-
See, the premise was to ring the dinner bell and get people healed first.
-
Preach a healing message about.
-
Jesus is the healer.
-
He's the same yesterday, today and forever.
-
What he did back then he's doing now and you get people healed and then after you get healed and get them to testify a little bit, then you start in on the evangelistic side, get people say Raymond T Richie said that healing is God's dinner bell.
-
You ring the dinner bell, you get people hey, you get him healed first and then you get him saved.
-
That's what brought T L Osborne did.
-
He got him healed first and then got him saved, so that I already had Men of God that.
-
That that I followed, that did that.
-
That's the brother.
-
Oh, steve did the same thing in some meetings.
-
So it wasn't like I was by myself.
-
But you know, I mean I started feeling very ill-equipped.
-
I still, you know, I'm in the, I'm in, I'm the guy.
-
I'm riding down the road, I'm riding in the dark down this alleyway looking place and the nuns are out there protested my meeting, protest in my meeting.
-
I used to.
-
The nuns used to teach me in school and now they're over there protesting me.
-
You know you start thinking, god, what am I doing here?
-
Why am I here?
-
How did I get here?
-
But I stirred myself up.
-
I said, well, glory to God, I'll get to preach the gospel tonight and I know the Word of God is all these people need to get their healing.
-
I'm gonna preach the gospel To the poor.
-
They're poor in in in their bodies.
-
They're poor in their finances.
-
They're gonna hear the gospel and the gospel is gonna do the job.
-
I'm just a messenger boy.
-
I don't have to do a thing.
-
The word.
-
See, I had to talk to myself and by the time I got to the meeting I couldn't wait to get up on that platform.
-
I Overcame all of my trepidation.
-
I'm talking about what?
-
Leaning on the anointing?
-
Leaning on the anointing?
-
Well, you know, you might never be in that kind of a position.
-
You might just be one person.
-
What's the same?
-
It's the same technique the devil's gonna use on you.
-
He's gonna try to make you feel ill equipped, unworthy, all of that kind of stuff.
-
You're overmatched.
-
The problem is too bad.
-
The problem is too great.
-
You're gonna do more damage than anything.
-
You better if my as well.
-
Find somebody else.
-
Well, there's anybody else.
-
You're the point person.
-
Don't look for somebody else.
-
You're the one.
-
Just stir yourself up, lead Everybody.
-
Say I'm leading on the anointing.
-
It's not a matter of how you feel.
-
It's not a matter of how, what your emotions are telling you.
-
It's not a matter how spiritual you seem.
-
Some of the greatest miracles that I've ever seen in my life came when I was Practically indifferent.
-
I hate to say it, I know I shouldn't be that way, but sometimes you just you know you've got your own problems and somebody else's problem.
-
It's just not that big a deal to you and you just it doesn't get your attention and you're just kind of hard-hearted.
-
I mean, I had one one time, one time I've told the story before but I was going through San Antonio, coming back from the Hill Country, seeing my brother and his wife.
-
We had a nice visit in Utopia Texas and we stopped for gasoline in San Antonio at this Texaco station and my mother comes out and she says oh, john, you need to pray for that man in there.
-
He's got terrible migraine headache.
-
I said yeah, and I didn't.
-
I mean I didn't care, I Just didn't care.
-
I had a boatload of problems waiting on me in Houston.
-
I was thinking about getting home and having to deal with all the trouble I had and I was pumping gas and I just, you know, whatever I thought, I thought why didn't you pray for him if it's so bad?
-
Of course I couldn't tell my mother that she's not too old to slap me upside the head.
-
So then Gladys comes out John, john, john.
-
It's always three times John, john, john.
-
Yeah, I know there's a guy in there with a migraine.
-
How'd you know what?
-
Mother just told me.
-
Like I'm so irritated.
-
Why don't you tell me this?
-
Why don't you pray for it?
-
You saw it first, see, is that a good attitude?
-
Is that the kind of attitude that you want with the anointing?
-
I'm just being honest.
-
Did?
-
Did the Holy Ghost fly away and leave me?
-
Sometimes I wonder why he didn't, but I think it was because of the person that needed the ministry.
-
So, anyway, I thought, well, okay, I'll find out about this issue and I Get up and I'm paying outside.
-
There's a window outside and I never didn't see the guy.
-
The guy that waited on me had a knife slash across his eyeball, all over cross his face.
-
He'd been in a knife fight at some point in his life, not that long before.
-
I mean, he's still kind of tender looking to me, but he's.
-
Somebody sliced him and but other than that he looked normal.
-
I mean he wasn't.
-
He didn't look like he was sick and I started to say something to him.
-
But then there was somebody standing right behind me, and so I paid and I left.
-
What did you pray for?
-
My son, he's fine?
-
No, he wasn't fine.
-
So you know, 20 miles later, I finally figured out that I never did see him.
-
He was in a card table inside the station, in the place where they sell the beverages, the bear and the wine and the coolers and the you know all of that Soft drinks.
-
He's in there sitting behind a coffee, a coffee table.
-
No, I never did see him.
-
Well, you, I'm telling you, he just suffering so bad.
-
I said okay, so I repented, I turned, I actually turned around and and drove 20 miles back to San Antonio.
-
And it's there's.
-
I repented, though all that Negativity left me and I started getting excited.
-
By the time I got there, I was absolutely ready to kill the devil.
-
I was just.
-
I was so excited, I couldn't wait to pray for this guy.
-
And I come bound in in the door and he's sitting at this coffee table.
-
He just ashen, looking, he's a you know and, and he looked terrible.
-
I and he's just not looking in any particular direction and I said, sir, and he kind of looks up at me, grabs a cigarette out of his pocket and starts pounding that.
-
You know he's gonna light it up, sir.
-
Huh, I said I.
-
I was just here.
-
My wife and mother tell me that you were having a migraine headache.
-
He said, yeah, no different than 32 years.
-
This is what I've had for 32 years.
-
Yeah, yeah, so he lights up.
-
I said I've got something that'll help you.
-
And he looked at me and he thought I was gonna sell him some drugs.
-
And I didn't use the right choice of word.
-
But he thought I was gonna push drugs right there in front of everybody.
-
Here's a guy.
-
By that time there's a big old, muscled up guy, tatted up, and his arm comes in between me and the guy I'm talking to to reach out and get a couple of quarts of beer with one arm.
-
He just, you know, pulled back two quarts of beer and I said I said Jesus, it sent me back here to heal you.
-
I was headed back to Houston and Jesus sent me back and he dropped a cigarette, came down in his lap.
-
He starts brushing the cigarette out.
-
Yeah, I said, would you mind if I prayed for you?
-
And his eyes got big.
-
He starts looking around at all the customers in there.
-
I said we can go outside and sit in my van.
-
He says, oh, oh, okay.
-
He wasn't excited.
-
I said, sir, your life's about to change.
-
You'll never be the same after the day.
-
And I thought what am I saying?
-
I couldn't believe.
-
I said that to him and we walked out and we sat down and I said let me just pray over you for a minute, okay?
-
And so I put my hand on either side of his temples and I got over and kind of leaned over in front of him and I closed my eyes and started praying in tongues under my breath.
-
I didn't want to pray out loud because I didn't want to scare the man, but I always start when I'm dealing with something I don't know about, and I knew I didn't know about exactly how to minister to it.
-
So I started praying in other tongues and as soon as I did I saw a vision of this man and he had a worm drive clamp, like a radiator clamp, on his head, one of those stainless steel, bright, and it's got a screw on there.
-
When you turn the screw it gets tighter and tighter.
-
And that's what was around his head and what I saw.
-
I didn't see a demon power.
-
I saw the effect of a demon that had afflicted him.
-
When he'd have that migraine, the devil would just turn the screw down on top of his head and give him that pain.
-
And I said Lord, what do I do with that?
-
He said break it in my name.
-
So I said I break this clamp of pain in the name of Jesus.
-
I demand this migraine to leave him and I pronounce healing and wholeness over my brother right now.
-
And Jesus, that's all I said.
-
I didn't even really pray for him, I just spoke that over him and said how you doing?
-
And he said all the pain left me.
-
I said praise, god, isn't that fantastic, wow.
-
Well, he didn't get all that excited.
-
You'd think After 32 years that he would be doing a dance or something.
-
But he's lost, he's not saved.
-
And I said so, sir?
-
I said have you ever given your heart to Jesus?
-
He said no.
-
I said you know, it would be a shame if he healed you.
-
He healed you just now.
-
He took this migraine away from you without any strings attached.
-
He didn't ask you to do anything.
-
I'm not asking you to do anything but after the fact, wouldn't you want to give your heart to the one that just healed you?
-
He said yeah, I guess so.
-
So I let him in a sinner's prayer.
-
And I mean to be honest with you, if I went by what I was seeing and hearing, I wouldn't think that he really got anything.
-
It didn't sound like he was that sincere.
-
He never had been very excited about anything we'd had done up to now.
-
But what am I doing?
-
I'm leaning on the anointing.
-
See, the anointing's doing all the work.
-
I'm just the messenger boy, not a very good one at that.
-
It didn't start off too good.
-
It was getting better, but I mean, I didn't start off too good, but it's not how you start, it's how you finish.
-
So finally we got through praying and by then he's got a tear running down one side of his face and then another tear on the other side.
-
And you know, this guy's probably about 50 years old, 55, it's hard to tell how old he was, but living in the world, like he does, people age faster.
-
Well, he's not, you know, used to crying in front of people and he was trying to hide it.
-
And I said oh, sir, I didn't.
-
I said I see your tears.
-
Isn't it great to be free of pain?
-
He said, yeah, that's good, but that's not why I'm crying.
-
Then he admitted he was crying.
-
That's not why I'm crying.
-
Well then, why are you crying?
-
He said look at that grass.
-
I said the grass.
-
Now we're right on the side of itin and you know, the freeway is built up and so there's a grass embankment going up.
-
And it was a springtime, it was March, and the wildflowers had just started growing and the grass was green as it could be.
-
They had rain there recently and all the bankments were green.
-
And he said that grass is green.
-
I've never seen it like that before.
-
Grass is green.
-
And he was crying because he saw the grass for the first time.
-
And I was reminded of the scripture that says that the God of this age has blinded the minds of them lest they receive the glorious gospel of Christ.
-
He was so lost he didn't even see God's creation accurately.
-
Oh hallelujah, thank God, he got saved, he got healed Because I learned to lean on the anointing Thank God for my wife and my mother.
-
That kind of beat me into submission.
-
Amen, praise God.
-
So my point is it doesn't matter how you feel, it doesn't matter what state of mind you're in.
-
What matters is your obedience.
-
I said what matters is your obedience.
-
Your emotions doesn't have anything.
-
I suggest that we be more tender-hearted.
-
I think that's right.
-
I think it's right to have compassion.
-
I didn't have any of those to begin with.
-
I did.
-
Finally, when I started dealing with him, I did Amen, are y'all getting anything out of this?
-
Now I'll tell you, he's in you, he's with you, he's for you.
-
So, leaning on me and on him, three things before we leave and go home.
-
First one Jesus went about doing good.
-
So let's don't withdraw from life, let's be sensitive to our surroundings.
-
He went about doing good, healing all he.
-
Nothing missed him, and it was out in the desert.
-
You know, he'd been ministering all day and he said you know, the people give you them to eat.
-
So he was concerned about them eating.
-
He wanted to make sure they got fed.
-
So he told his disciples to feed them, and they couldn't do it.
-
So he did it.
-
And so stay engaged, stay engaged, keep.
-
Put yourself on ready, get yourself on ready.
-
I wasn't on ready that day.
-
I was wrapped up in my own problems.
-
I was wrapped up in my own drama and I had to deal with it after it was all over.
-
But guess what happens?
-
Somebody gets to go to heaven.
-
Somebody got free of 32 years.
-
So it kind of keeps me, you know, in perspective of what I'm facing.
-
You know, if God took care of that guy, he can take care of many.
-
He did.
-
He took care of all that mess that I was facing.
-
Stay engaged, pray for boldness, pray for boldness.
-
It's scriptural to pray for boldness.
-
And the disciples said grant that with all boldness we may speak thy word by stretching forth your hands to heal and signs and wonders may be done by the name of your holy child, jesus.
-
So even the disciples prayed for boldness.
-
You can pray for boldness.
-
Thing God, make me bolder, make me ready, keep me ready.
-
You're gonna encounter people that need your help.
-
Let's be sensitive.
-
Let's be sensitive.
-
Years ago I hadn't been saved, but a few months baptized the Holy Ghost and a family was having a get together.
-
We all got together at my sister's house, we had a lunch together at her house and we all went out on their patio.
-
It was a beautiful day, spring day, and we were listening to a testimony tape.
-
By that time we'd all gotten saved and all gotten filled with the Holy Ghost.
-
So it was my entire family.
-
It's my two sisters and my brother and myself and our wives and some of the kids would come in and out, you know, and out there listening to a gospel tape.
-
And so my oldest sister's youngest boy he was about 13, came busting in the gate.
-
He and his brother had driven up from Conroe where they live, and I heard him get there because they got muffler was loud, and come to find out the muffler was falling off of the car.
-
It was an old Camaro, 69 Camaro.
-
They were working on it and so when they hit the driveway the buffer fell off.
-
So anyway, he'd come walking in the gate and he had tears running down his face.
-
He's 13 and he doesn't like crying in front of adults, but he's got to cry because he's hurting.
-
Oh, and I didn't understand.
-
And so my sister's, you know, she's got a loud mouth, she's oh, dennis has burned his hand.
-
You know, like that, everybody knew what was the problem was and Dennis has burned his hand Don't tell Mary Ann, I said that about her.
-
And so, you know, everybody was feeling bad for Dennis, you know, and he had pushed the exhaust pipe like this and it burned a blister, just a two and a half inch diameter blister, right on the palm of his hand.
-
You know, your hand has got every nerve in the world.
-
I mean, when you burn your hand it hurts so bad and it was hurting so bad.
-
He was holding his hand and I wasn't even thinking.
-
I just jumped up out of my chair and I went over there and I saw his hand like that and I grabbed his hand with my left hand and I put my right hand on top of his hand.
-
Now I've got the burn right here, face down, and I've got my hand on top of his and I said, in the name of Jesus, I rebuke this burn, I command it to go right now.
-
In Jesus' name, and I let it go and I was watching him and he blinked and he blinked and he blinked and he started looking at his hand and all the pain, the blister was still there, but all the pain is God's my witness All the pain left his hand right there instantly, in front of the entire family, and we were listening to a gospel tape.
-
I mean you know you talk about the meeting was on then.
-
I mean to tell you Thank God for being engaged.
-
Amen, god will use you for you on behalf of your family.
-
So, years later, he meets the girl of his dreams.
-
He never did serve God and he's about to get married and so they want Uncle John to do the wedding.
-
And I said, okay, I'm grinning like a Cheshire cat because I've got some flex.
-
You know what I mean by flex.
-
You know We've got some little.
-
I've got a little ace in the hole that I'm about to play.
-
I said, okay, well, y'all.
-
So I knew his bride to be was saved.
-
You just got saved.
-
My sister got her saved, but I knew Dennis would.
-
I said, what kind of wedding do y'all want?
-
Do y'all want the heathen wedding or do you want to?
-
I can do the heathen wedding.
-
What's that?
-
Well, god has joined together, letting that not man put us under.
-
You know, god made them male and female.
-
Blah, blah, blah, blah.
-
All of that that doesn't have anything to do with getting saved as everything to do with just getting married.
-
I said you can get married like that, it'll be legal.
-
And but I said it'd be a whole lot better to start your married life Both of you saved.
-
Dennis, I remember when God remember when God healed your hand all those years ago and said girl, who did that?
-
Jesus?
-
Jesus, don't just think it's time for you to give your heart to him before you get married.
-
Yeah, so he got saved in my living room and then I was able to do the full blown Ephesians, chapter five, wedding for them in front of the whole family.
-
Amen, amen, oh, hallelujah, all right, the second one.
-
Five times in the gospels it says Jesus moved with compassion and, as I mentioned a while ago, I wasn't very compassionate at first, but I did get that way.
-
He moved with compassion, or he moved with mercy the word compassion there is mercy.
-
He had mercy on their sick.
-
He had mercy on sick people.
-
He didn't, he wasn't as worried about their spiritual condition as their physical.
-
He didn't ask them what their spiritual condition was.
-
He knew what it was.
-
He didn't have any requirements.
-
He said well, I'll tell you what I'll do.
-
I'll heal you if you'll get saved.
-
I'll tell you what I'll do.
-
I'll heal you if you'll repent.
-
I'll tell you you, generation of vipers, I you know you can just do without healing.
-
No, he healed them, and over and over.
-
He had compassion and he healed every one of them.
-
And so then, be a person that will obey that nudge of love and concern and even pity.
-
Get yourself in a position where you can relate to people that are in pain or people that are, that are having major health issues, and quit being intimidated out of it.
-
Well, you know that's a too complex and know it's not just a simple in the name of Jesus kind of prayers all is required most of the time.
-
And just obey that, obey that, that compassion, why?
-
Because that's the anointing guiding you in a direction.
-
And again, years ago kids are my J was in kindergarten, partons kindergarten in spring, and he brought home a mimeograph sheet.
-
He says, oh, we're collecting canned goods for one of our neighbors.
-
He got to have a heart transplant and they're just don't have insurance.
-
And you know their children come to our kindergarten.
-
Please, if you can donate some canned goods.
-
So I'm reading.
-
I'm on my way to my prayer room early one morning, six o'clock, this thing is laying there, was there that afternoon.
-
I never did read it.
-
So then early in the morning I'm by myself and pick up this, this paper, and I start reading it.
-
And while I'm reading it tears come running out my eyes and it drops on there and stains.
-
That stains up the mimeograph.
-
They don't have mimeographs anymore but anyway they have printers.
-
But anyway, back then there was no printers.
-
So I'm reading this story and I've upset about it.
-
I feel bad for this person.
-
I want to do something.
-
And the Holy Ghost said I want you to go by and I want you to pray for him and write him a hundred dollar check.
-
Say more than canned goods.
-
I want you to go pray for his healing and give him a hundred dollar check.
-
I said well, god, I don't even know who it is.
-
He didn't say who it was.
-
God didn't answer that he expect me to find out who it is.
-
All I gotta do is call the kindergarten.
-
Well, I didn't.
-
I put it off.
-
Next morning same thing going through there and I stopped and I realized you know, I didn't obey God.
-
And I picked up the paper, said I told you, I want you to go pray for this man and give him a hundred dollar check.
-
Yes, sir, I'll do that.
-
So I called and they gave me the guy's name is.
-
You live right next door to the school.
-
So later that morning I packed up my Bible, packed up my checkbook.
-
I went by there, knocked on the door.
-
I was so nervous I was hoping he wasn't home.
-
Sure enough, he wasn't home.
-
But his wife was home I said oh, I'm sorry I missed him.
-
Well, here, I just felt led to give you a hundred dollar check.
-
I want to help you all realize you don't have any insurance.
-
What good is a hundred dollars when you've got about a $300,000 medical bill you're fixing to pay?
-
But anyway, a hundred bucks, that's what God told me to do.
-
So I gave him a hundred bucks and I said you should be sure and let him know we're praying for him.
-
I believe in God.
-
You know, I believe in healing.
-
God wants to heal him.
-
And so I left and I felt like, okay, mission accomplished.
-
Now, the third day, I'm going by and that thing is still laying there.
-
I don't know why Gladys lay there for three days on the kitchen counter, but there it is again and I thought, praise God, I got that handled.
-
I have to think about that.
-
The Holy Ghost said I want you to go by there and I want you to write another hundred dollar check, and this time I want you to pray for the man.
-
I said yes, sir, I will definitely do that.
-
I'll do that today, because if I keep going like this, I'm gonna be broke by the end of the month.
-
A hundred dollars a day is gonna exhaust my bank account.
-
And so this time he was home, big old, burly guy, billy Balaamowitz Irish guy no, he wasn't Irish, but anyway, why would you remember?
-
I don't know why I remember his name, but one of the greatest miracles I've ever seen, billy Balaamowitz, went by, told him why I was there, gave him a hundred dollars.
-
Was he here yesterday?
-
I gave you a hundred, I'm gonna give you another one.
-
Well, thank you very much, I said if you got a few, yeah.
-
So I came in, I gave him my testimony how I got saved, how my mother got healed and so forth and so on.
-
So then I said well, you mind if I pray for you, no, so I laid my hands on top of his head.
-
I didn't really know how to do it, you know, I didn't know what to say or what to do, but I just laid my hands on top of his head.
-
I've been saved a few months.
-
Lade my hands on top of his head, I said, jesus, you're the healer.
-
I just believe that you sent me here.
-
I just thank you, father, for healing his heart, fixing everything that's wrong in there.
-
Lord, we just believe your healing power is touching him right now we thank you for it, or something like that.
-
And I said Jesus' name, amen.
-
And I said, all right, well, I did what I came to do.
-
I just believe you're gonna find out that things are better than what you know.
-
And he didn't say anything.
-
He just kinda sat there kinda looking at me, kinda funny.
-
So I walked out the way I came in, which was the front door, walked across the yard, was getting in my van, you know, threw my check across the front there and hit the other seat and my Bible over there, and then I was crawling in and then he's coming down the driveway.
-
He came around the back of the house, coming down, walking down the driveway, until he was crying, trying not to show it, but he couldn't help it because he saw me and I heard him sobbing, coming in the driveway and he said serve, serve.
-
You know like this.
-
And I said what, what's the matter, billy?
-
What's wrong?
-
He said something really strange happened.
-
I said really what he said well, when you put your hands on top of my head, yeah, he said I felt like electricity and he'd go all over my body.
-
He said I still feel it.
-
He can't hardly talk, you know, I still feel it like electricity.
-
I said, yeah.
-
He said what is that?
-
I said that's God's healing power.
-
He's giving you a brand new.
-
I couldn't believe.
-
I said this he's giving you a brand new heart.
-
You're not even gonna need surgery.
-
And I couldn't believe.
-
I said that, I couldn't believe that came out of my mouth, because it didn't.
-
I mean, that's not what I prayed.
-
I wouldn't believe in that.
-
I just believed in God to heal him and make work at all.
-
I said God has just healed you.
-
You're not even gonna need surgery, gave you a brand new heart.
-
And he really cried then oh, come on, lift your hands and receive Glory to God.
-
See, it all started with that compassion and me following and I wasn't exactly a willing, see, I'm just teaching out of my ignorance and my.
-
You know my experiences.
-
And once you've been taught, see, you'll identify that compassion and obey it quicker.
-
But again, god didn't leave me.
-
God didn't fly away and say, well, I'll leave you alone.
-
No, he had mercy on Billy.
-
Praise God.
-
And then, finally, in Luke 240, jesus grew in stature and wisdom and in the favor of God.
-
In the sight of God and man, he grew, and we can too.
-
He can grow in the things of God.
-
The anointing upon you can increase.
-
It's increased in my life from the levels it was when I was a baby Christian.
-
It's increased as I've.
-
Every opportunity for you to administer someone is a learning opportunity.
-
You're gonna learn something Every time.
-
I've learned from what I did and when I didn't do exactly right I've learned from it.
-
I don't use it to beat myself up.
-
I just use it so that I can do better the next time.
-
But you grow.
-
The anointing God's kingdom is all about growth.
-
It's all about increase.
-
It's all about getting bigger and greater, and this is the time that we're living in right now, when the church has got to be greatly improved in functioning in the anointing and leaning on the anointing.
-
Do you get anything out of this tonight?
-
Come on, lift your hands and receive tonight.
-
Lean on the anointing, amen, praise God.
-
Well, when you put this together with a message this morning that you know it's quite a lot of stuff to digest, but I believe it's been a blessing, been a blessing talking to you about let's all stand together.
