  1. all this evening. I am so grateful that

  2. we are gathered together in this house.

  3. And I'm grateful because today we are

  4. gathering with much reason for

  5. celebration as we are gathering on this

  6. Christmas Eve. And so if you haven't

  7. heard it from anyone yet, let me just

  8. say from us to you, merry Christmas. We

  9. hope you're having an amazing Christmas

  10. season with your friends and your

  11. family. And I want you to know that uh

  12. we are not here to just kind of go

  13. through the motions. Uh, I think there's

  14. a real part of us that probably wonders,

  15. you know, like as you get to uh, this

  16. particular time of year and you're

  17. thinking about Christmas gatherings,

  18. you're just kind of like trying to

  19. choose which one do we want to go at,

  20. like go to that works for our schedule.

  21. You know what I mean? Many of you,

  22. you're like, "Hey, I realize the five is

  23. going to be probably a little more

  24. packed than the seven, but I must walk

  25. outside to a dark uh, situation whenever

  26. I realize that my candle has been

  27. extinguished after silent night. It

  28. cannot be daylight." That's some of you

  29. in this room right now. Uh [snorts]

  30. there's a couple claps for that. Uh

  31. there are some of you that are like

  32. quite honestly I need some things to

  33. wind down at home and so that's what I'm

  34. going to do and then I'm going to make

  35. my way there. But whatever it is that

  36. brought you to this particular

  37. gathering, I think the truth of the

  38. matter is and there's nothing wrong with

  39. it. We all have different things that

  40. led us to be here in this moment right

  41. now. Though we knew we were going to be

  42. at a Christmas Eve gathering together,

  43. but here's the thing. We are not just

  44. going through the motions. We believe

  45. that our time together will be deeply

  46. meaningful as we're reflecting on and

  47. really remembering why it is that we

  48. gather in this season. And truth be

  49. told, uh it's bigger than that. It's not

  50. just why we gather in this season, but

  51. who we gather because of in every season

  52. that we're here today because we are

  53. celebrating that God has come to us in

  54. the flesh, Emmanuel, in the person of

  55. his son Jesus Christ. And so what I want

  56. to do is open up the scriptures. We're

  57. going to be in Luke chapter 2. Luke 2

    Luke 2 chapter mention

  58. beginning in verse 25. And let me just

  59. say as you're flipping or scrolling

  60. there or just kind of hoping that it's

  61. going to show up on the TVs. Uh that

  62. there might be some of us in here that

  63. are just uh maybe you're you're here

  64. from out of town. Anybody here from out

  65. of town? Uh anybody

  66. >> remark? Okay, here we go. We got some

  67. people from out of town. And so listen,

  68. we understand that uh you're here

  69. because uh you live in some god-forsaken

  70. part of the country that's cold right

  71. now and you got family that was smart

  72. enough to move to Florida. And so you

  73. were like, you know what? I don't want

  74. to be here. Nobody else wants to be

  75. here. Let's go somewhere where we can

  76. breathe when we walk outside. And so

  77. you're here today and we're grateful for

  78. you. We knew that you would be here and

  79. we've been thinking about you. But I

  80. also know it's like Justin said earlier

  81. that there's some of us in here that

  82. quite honestly uh you find yourself in

  83. this position where you kind of got

  84. dragged here or this is just something

  85. that you feel like you need to do and

  86. this is a little bit uncomfortable for

  87. you. Well, let me just say like we've

  88. been thinking about you and praying for

  89. you and you are welcome in this place.

  90. But I want to read Luke 2 beginning in

  91. verse 25. We'll go all the way through

  92. verse 35 and then we'll jump in

  93. together. But it says this. There was a

  94. man in Jerusalem whose name was Simeon.

  95. This man was righteous and devout,

  96. looking forward to Israel's consolation

  97. and the Holy Spirit was on him. It had

  98. been revealed to him by the Holy Spirit

  99. that he would not see death before he

  100. saw the Lord's Messiah. Guided by the

  101. spirit, he entered the temple. And when

  102. the parents brought in the child Jesus

  103. to perform for him what was customary

  104. under the law, Simeon took him up in his

  105. arms and praised God and said, "Now,

  106. Master, you can dismiss your servant in

  107. peace as you promised. For my eyes have

  108. seen your salvation. You've prepared it

  109. in the presence of all peoples, a light

  110. for revelation to the Gentiles and glory

  111. to [snorts] your people Israel." His

  112. father and mother were amazed at what

  113. was being said about him. Then Simeon

  114. blessed them and told his mother Mary,

  115. "Indeed, this child is destined to cause

  116. the fall and rise of many in Israel, and

  117. to be a sign that will be opposed, and a

  118. sword will pierce your own soul, that

  119. the thoughts of many hearts may be

  120. revealed." Would you pray with me for a

  121. moment? Uh Lord, we are grateful to be

  122. gathered here with uh unique

  123. understanding about what this day means.

  124. And so, Father, I'd ask two things

  125. specifically. Number one, if there's

  126. anyone in here that doesn't uh fully

  127. understand or comprehend what uh the

  128. gospel is or why it is that we're

  129. celebrating today, would that be clear

  130. and would there be response, Lord, a

  131. recognition of why we're celebrating?

  132. But then God, I would also ask that for

  133. many of us that are in here where this

  134. is really familiar and we're on on we

  135. don't even know what Christmas gathering

  136. where we celebrate every year and we're

  137. saved and we know you, Lord, would we

  138. not make good news old news in our life?

  139. Uh but would that constantly be fresh on

  140. our mind and something that is almost

  141. new for us in a way to where we feel

  142. what it is that makes us so joyful in

  143. this season which is to know you. And so

  144. Lord, we just love you. We praise you.

  145. We ask these things in Jesus name. Amen.

  146. I'll be curious. Anyone in here ever

  147. seen the movie uh It's a Wonderful Life?

  148. Anybody in here ever seen It's a

  149. Wonderful Life. There's a couple of us.

  150. You a little Okay. All right. So there

  151. we go. Couple of us have seen It's a

  152. Wonderful Life. Listen, I feel very by

  153. myself up here if you don't participate

  154. in some of these things. All right,

  155. you've seen It's a Wonderful Life. Good

  156. to know. There's a couple people in here

  157. that have seen It's a Wonderful Life.

  158. Let me go ahead and tell you if you

  159. haven't seen it, uh you're like 80 years

  160. late. All right, this came out like

  161. 1947.

  162. So, I'm going to I'm going to ruin the

  163. movie for you, okay? I just need you to

  164. know that upfront. What I also need you

  165. to know, it's still worth seeing. Uh,

  166. but I I'll tell you in case you're

  167. unfamiliar. It's a Wonderful Life is

  168. this film that ends up tracking the life

  169. of a man by the name of George Bailey.

  170. And George Bailey uh is a normal

  171. ordinary guy that's living in the small

  172. town of Bedford Falls. And we see that

  173. he's a dreamer. Uh he dreams of

  174. adventure, of building an extraordinary

  175. life. He wants to escape from this small

  176. town on some level and travel and see

  177. what the world has to offer. But we see

  178. that unfortunately for him, his father

  179. will end up passing away and he has to

  180. remain relatively grounded in the small

  181. town of Bedford Falls. In fact, he ends

  182. up inheriting the family business, small

  183. loan business and building to go with

  184. it. So, as a result, he finds himself in

  185. a place where he's going to have to stay

  186. grounded and help other people with

  187. their dreams rather than pursuing his

  188. own. And as a result, he becomes a

  189. staple, a pillar in the community. Like,

  190. people love this guy. He helps countless

  191. people purchase their first homes. He

  192. finds himself in many good Samaritan

  193. situations. He helps a local pharmacist

  194. in Mr. Gower, who's apparently not that

  195. great of a pharmacist, uh, make sure

  196. that he doesn't accidentally put poison

  197. in a prescription pill bottle. Uh, he

  198. finds himself in a place where he's

  199. going to afford people the opportunity

  200. to go pursue their dreams through

  201. different avenues than having to go to

  202. the evil Mr. Potter who could give them

  203. the loans that they need to make their

  204. dreams happen. but he's also interested

  205. in the acquisition of their assets to

  206. build his own portfolio where he could

  207. eventually take over the town. And so we

  208. see that he's doing all of this good

  209. work and yet he feels like a failure. He

  210. feels like his life is completely and

  211. totally unsatisfactory. He's not

  212. pursuing his own dreams. Sure, he's

  213. helping other people, but he doesn't

  214. feel all that great about anything. And

  215. so when his uncle ends up misplacing a

  216. large sum of money, and he realizes that

  217. the family is not only facing scandal,

  218. but potential prison time, he really

  219. starts to hit rock bottom. That on

  220. Christmas Eve night, he ends up finding

  221. himself alone with a drink and

  222. contemplating life, wondering if this is

  223. what he should even be doing. And then

  224. going down an even darker trail of

  225. wondering, "Hey, is my life even worth

  226. it? Would it be better off if I had just

  227. never been here in the first place?" And

  228. it's there that you'll see that the

  229. stumbling bumbling guardian angel in

  230. Clarence will burst onto the scene and

  231. Clarence will provide him with an

  232. alternative vision to a world that would

  233. be if he was no longer in it, if he had

  234. never been there in the first place. And

  235. we see that in this vision, George

  236. Bailey will get an opportunity to see

  237. that Bedford Falls is particularly dark

  238. and corrupt. Many of the individuals

  239. that he's helped purchase homes are

  240. homeless. We see that his younger

  241. brother, who he saved from a potential

  242. drowning incident earlier on in his

  243. life, actually ended up perishing in

  244. that accident. He'll see that really

  245. this town is run by despair and greed.

  246. And beyond that, he'll see that all of

  247. his friends are devastated in some way,

  248. that his wife's life is a mess, that

  249. when he's able to see life through the

  250. lens of what truly matters the most,

  251. everything changes for him. In that

  252. moment when he goes back to the reality

  253. of Bedford Falls with him within it, he

  254. will find all of this renewed sense of

  255. hope, peace, joy, and love in his life

  256. that he's running through the snowladen

  257. streets of the town shouting merry

  258. Christmas with this new perspective that

  259. it's a wonderful life is truly an

  260. opportunity for us to think about life

  261. and go, you know what, it's not all that

  262. bad to live a faithful and a sacrificial

  263. life that he thinks that he has really

  264. lived his life in a way that's small and

  265. wasted and feeling like he's maybe

  266. insignificant on some level only to

  267. discover that when you look at life

  268. through the lens of what matters the

  269. most, all of a sudden you do realize it

  270. is indeed a wonderful life. Now, you

  271. might be here and you might be going,

  272. uh, what does that have to do with

  273. Christmas? And I would say to you, well,

  274. number one, I wanted the opportunity to

  275. take a Christmas movie and use it in a

  276. Christmas sermon. So, please and thank

  277. you. But I would also like to tell you

  278. that the truth of the matter is that

  279. when you look at a guy like Simeon, what

  280. you're really looking at is what is

  281. essentially the George Bailey of

  282. scripture. You see a guy that's just

  283. faithfully, quietly living his life,

  284. waiting on the Lord's promises to come

  285. to fruition. And as he does, he'll end

  286. up not only seeing the infant Lord Jesus

  287. Christ, but he'll also end up taking him

  288. up into his arms and recognizing

  289. something that I hope we'll recognize

  290. that Jesus is not just what Christmas is

  291. about, but really what life is all

  292. about. And as you look at Luke chapter

    Luke 2 chapter mention

  293. 2, beginning in verse 25, it says,

  294. "There was a man in Jerusalem whose name

  295. was Simeon. This man was righteous and

  296. devout, looking forward to Israel's

  297. consolation, and the Holy Spirit was on

  298. him." Now, there's really three

  299. essential and integral characteristics

  300. that we see listed here about Simeon

  301. that allows us to look at him and

  302. recognize this is a guy that is in

  303. position to not only see life rightly

  304. through the lens of what matters most,

  305. but to understand what he's looking at.

  306. The three things that are listed here

  307. are number one, that he's righteous and

  308. devout. His devotion and dedication to

  309. God. You see that it says that the Holy

  310. Spirit was on him. He has communion and

  311. fellowship with God. He knows God, loves

  312. God, seeks God. But in between those two

  313. things, something interesting is said

  314. there. You'll notice it says that he was

  315. looking forward to Israel's consolation.

  316. Now, in your translation that you could

  317. be reading, it might say waiting on the

  318. consolation of Israel. And I say that

  319. for this reason. Looking can also be

  320. translated as waiting. And that's

  321. significant because the verb means to

  322. move in the particular direction of or

  323. towards something or someone or even to

  324. welcome and anticipate something or in

  325. this case someone that you'll see that

  326. Simeon is an individual that is living

  327. with messianic hope because he knows

  328. what God has said and he is walking with

  329. God in his life. And as he is waiting,

  330. he's also looking. That looking is a

  331. lifestyle for Simeon. that as he finds

  332. himself waiting on the Lord's promises,

  333. he's looking throughout his life for the

  334. Lord's hand at work. And I say that to

  335. you because I'd like to put a pin right

  336. there and remind some of us that as we

  337. get to this Christmas season, it often

  338. feels like we're waiting on something.

  339. For many of you, you're waiting on 2025

  340. to be done. And you're very excited

  341. about starting 2026 because the truth of

  342. the matter is when you walked into 2025,

  343. you were telling everybody this was your

  344. year. You thought this was going to be

  345. it. You thought it was going to be

  346. amazing. You had your word ready to go.

  347. My word is disciplined. Whatever it is,

  348. you were letting all of us know even

  349. though we don't care. And as you were

  350. putting it out there for all of us to

  351. keep keep you on, you don't even

  352. remember what your word was to start

  353. this year. And as you did that, you

  354. realize like March, you're like, I don't

  355. think 2025 is my year. I don't think

  356. it's it. It's not going well. But now

  357. you're here and here's what you're going

  358. you're thinking. But you know what? You

  359. want to know something? You want to know

  360. something God and everybody else? I got

  361. a new word in 2026. That's my year. This

  362. is going to be my year. And about

  363. February, you're gonna be like, I don't

  364. think that was it either. I don't think

  365. that's it. But I got news for you. 2027

  366. and just rinse and repeat.

  367. [snorts] And I say that to you because I

  368. think often times what happens is we're

  369. waiting on things to kind of like break

  370. loose in some way. I'm waiting on the

  371. business to take off. I'm waiting on the

  372. family to get back together. I'm waiting

  373. for things to just kind of fall into

  374. place. And there is nothing in this

  375. world that is capable of supporting the

  376. weight of all your all of your hopes,

  377. joy, trust and dreams. It is not

  378. possible. And so we see that in Simeon

  379. there is an individual to remind us that

  380. as we are waiting, are we waiting with

  381. hope in the right things and in this

  382. case the right person of Jesus Christ

  383. looking for God's hand at work in our

  384. lives and not looking with our heads

  385. down but looking up hopefilled not

  386. inwardly but outwardly. God, what are

  387. you doing in the world? And we see here

  388. that's what Simeon does. And he's so

  389. attuned with what God's doing that it

  390. says in verse 26 that it had been

  391. revealed to him by the Holy Spirit that

  392. he would not see death before he saw the

  393. Lord's Messiah. Now, it says that the

  394. Lord revealed to him that he wouldn't

  395. see death before he saw the Lord's

  396. Messiah. But it doesn't say uh how that

  397. happened. Could have been an inkling on

  398. the heart. Could have been something he

  399. experienced in prayer. Could have been

  400. the fact that you see words like

  401. revealed or warned used in other

  402. instances in scripture like in Matthew

    Matthew 2 chapter mention

  403. chapter 2. We see that the wise men will

  404. find themselves in a place where they're

  405. warned in a dream not to go back to

  406. Herod. And so, as a result, you go,

  407. maybe he was warned in a dream. Maybe

  408. this was through prayer. Not really

  409. sure. But what's critical is what we're

  410. told. And that is that Simeon is not

  411. going to see death before he sees the

  412. Lord's Messiah, which should make some

  413. of us go, but as soon as you see him,

  414. you're going to know death is on the

  415. table. And so, we see here that Simeon

  416. is in a position to understand that. And

  417. as he is led by the Holy Spirit into the

  418. temple, it says that the parents brought

  419. in the child Jesus to perform for him

  420. what was customary under the law.

  421. Here's the thing. Uh whenever a

  422. firstborn male was born to a family, uh

  423. that individual was supposed to be

  424. consecrated to the Lord according to Old

  425. Testament law. And so you see that

  426. Leviticus would list a couple of

  427. different acceptable sacrifices to offer

  428. in order to consecrate that child. And

  429. if you were somewhat loaded, then you

  430. could find yourself offering like a year

  431. old male lamb. But if you were

  432. struggling more financially, you would

  433. offer turtle doves, which we see Joseph

  434. and Mary are doing here, right? And so

  435. it says in verse 28 through33 that

  436. Simeon took him up in his arms. He

  437. praised God and said, "Now, master, you

  438. can dismiss your servant in peace as you

  439. promised. For my eyes have seen your

  440. salvation. You've prepared it in the

  441. presence of all peoples, a light for

  442. revelation to the Gentiles and glory to

  443. your people Israel." his father and

  444. mother were amazed at what was being

  445. said about him. It's amazing. It says

  446. you can dismiss your servant in peace.

  447. And it's interesting that it says that

  448. because in the original language, this

  449. is tough for us to think about, but word

  450. order doesn't matter a whole lot. It

  451. does, but it's more flexible than the

  452. way that we structure our language. And

  453. so, as a result, words can be moved

  454. around and they're moved around in order

  455. to emphasize certain words. And the word

  456. that's really being emphasized here in

  457. this sentence is the word peace. And

  458. that's significant for us to understand

  459. because upon seeing his king, Simeon is

  460. also recognizing, hey, death is coming.

  461. [snorts]

  462. Like death is now on the table. And yet

  463. he's filled with all of this peace. Why?

  464. Because he recognizes that death is not

  465. a door that's closed, but rather one

  466. that's going to be open to him. And he's

  467. filled with this sense of peace because

  468. he says, "My eyes have seen your

  469. salvation." Which is interesting. I

  470. don't know how you think about peace,

  471. but I don't tend to in in my flesh go,

  472. you know what's going to be really

  473. peaceful? Death. I'm really excited

  474. about dying. I don't do that.

  475. And I think Simeon has walked with the

  476. Lord and has a different understanding

  477. of what peace is. Many of us, we tend to

  478. think about peace as being the absence

  479. of problems, but really it's the king

  480. invading in the middle of our problems.

  481. We think that it's the absence of chaos,

  482. but it's the king bringing order to the

  483. chaos in our lives. We often think it's

  484. when our outer life is feeling all calm

  485. and tranquil. If any of you get to that

  486. point, please let me know how you did

  487. it. But really, it's when you have an

  488. inner life that's fortified and

  489. unshakable in the midst of storms. That

  490. Simeon experiences a peace that we can

  491. experience, too. But how? When you

  492. recognize who it is that is our rescuer

  493. and redeemer that has been sent to save

  494. us. And when you realize that it's in

  495. him that I can find peace, hope, joy,

  496. and love because he is the one who can

  497. carry the weight of my eternal hope and

  498. also who can deal with all the

  499. difficulties I experience in my

  500. temporary nows. That you see that Simeon

  501. understands this. He understands this

  502. piece. But it's interesting. There's a

  503. comment that's made about the parents

  504. that makes you wonder what is it exactly

  505. that they're thinking here. It says that

  506. they were amazed at what was being said

  507. about him. Joseph and Mary are in this

  508. unique position to where they have to

  509. raise the son of God,

  510. which is crazy.

  511. And as they're in that position, it's

  512. interesting. It's likely that they

  513. probably didn't understand Old Testament

  514. prophecy the way that many individuals

  515. in their time didn't as well. They

  516. probably thought the son of God was

  517. going to come to rule and reign like any

  518. other earthly king, only to find out

  519. that that is not the way that Jesus was

  520. coming to rule and reign. that the scope

  521. and situation of how it is that he would

  522. rule and reign was something that they

  523. quite honestly [music]

  524. don't seem to get a whole lot. And it

  525. kind of makes you think, uh, Mary, did

  526. you know?

  527. Some of you get that. Some of you don't

  528. your baby boy would one day walk on

  529. water. Mary, did you know it's your baby

  530. [music] boy? Save our sons and

  531. daughters.

  532. We got six minutes. We could sing it

  533. together right now.

  534. I'm not doing that. I don't know who's I

  535. ain't doing that. I heard that.

  536. And it it says that Simeon Simeon does

  537. something interesting. [music]

  538. He blessed them and told Jesus, "Mother

  539. Mary, indeed, this child is destined to

  540. cause the fall and rise of many in

  541. Israel, and there'll be a sign that will

  542. be opposed, and a sword will pierce your

  543. own soul that the thoughts of many

  544. hearts may be revealed."

  545. There any moms in here?

  546. It's not a trick question. Like you you

  547. know what I mean? Like some of you are

  548. like, "I don't know. I birth kids,

  549. honey. Is he talking about me?" Yeah,

  550. that's you. I'm talking to you. Not

  551. going to call on you. Any moms in here?

  552. Can you come on up here? No, I'm messing

  553. with you. Like, [laughter]

  554. uh, [music] sorry, it's the last one.

  555. Sorry. Uh

  556. he did.

  557. >> But

  558. moms

  559. are really proud of [music] their kids

  560. immediately.

  561. I mean, until they can like talk back,

  562. then you have some questions. But still,

  563. like you're you're pretty stoked about

  564. your kids, right?

  565. I always think it's interesting like we

  566. have to pretend that they're cute, fresh

  567. out the womb and stuff. We're like, "Oh,

  568. oh yeah." Like maybe one day.

  569. Maybe one day.

  570. Oh, you know, so you send pictures and

  571. we're like, "They are so cute." And then

  572. we're behind your back like, "Woo, baby,

  573. [laughter]

  574. I hope the Lord's at work here." Um,

  575. y'all think your kid is like a genius.

  576. Oh, there's no mom that's just like, "Oh

  577. man, I don't know. I don't I don't know.

  578. We got the brightest bulb in the box."

  579. Every every mom like 8 days in is like,

  580. "You know what? He's just so smart.

  581. She's [music] so smart." Like 8 days in.

  582. Really? So, yeah. tell you he's she's

  583. already drooling at 8 days in. Did your

  584. kid drool in 8 days in? It's like, you

  585. know, I mean, is that the mark of an

  586. Einstein? I don't know. Like, like we

  587. got a real Nostradamus among us. So, I

  588. don't

  589. You're proud of your kids. Why wouldn't

  590. you be proud of your kids?

  591. Be infatuated [music]

  592. with this new little life.

  593. Mary's not only carrying this new little

  594. life, the son of God.

  595. And in the process of that, Simeon has

  596. to deliver a devastating,

  597. devastating word to her. How's that?

  598. She's ecstatic and filled with all of

  599. this joy. And he's like, "Oh, mama,

  600. I I know how you feel right now, but

  601. you're going to experience an agony and

  602. a suffering that nobody else

  603. has ever or will ever experience.

  604. That joy you're experiencing, that's

  605. real joy, by the way. That's a joy that

  606. all of us who have placed our hope and

  607. trust and faith in in that child, we've

  608. experienced that joy too because of that

  609. same child.

  610. But those little fingers that are

  611. struggling to even get around [music]

  612. your finger are going to be stretched

  613. out for the salvation of the world.

  614. >> [music]

  615. >> And that little boy that you rocked to

  616. sleep every night in a cradle is going

  617. to wake the rest of the world up as he's

  618. hoisted upon a cross for you, mom, and

  619. for everybody else to see and realize,

  620. I've got to have a response to this.

  621. [music]

  622. Why do we celebrate Christmas?

  623. We don't celebrate Christmas because

  624. we're just like, you know what? Like, he

  625. was like a pretty inspirational guy.

  626. The unique thing about Jesus is that all

  627. of us in here, we were born and we will

  628. die. [music]

  629. He died and he lived and he's still

  630. alive.

  631. And the unique [music] thing for all of

  632. us in this place

  633. is that you have to come to terms with

  634. the fact that there's nothing else in

  635. this world that can bear the weight of

  636. your [snorts] faith, hope, trust, joy,

  637. all of that.

  638. But he can. And he did. He lived a

  639. perfect sinless life [music] that you

  640. and I could not. And he willingly went

  641. to the cross in our place.

  642. And he paid for our sin with perfect

  643. innocent blood. That for those of us

  644. that repent of our sins and put our

  645. faith in Jesus Christ, we can know that

  646. he takes away [music] our sin past,

  647. present, and future. He's buried in a

  648. tomb for three days and rose to life

  649. again. And because Christ lives, we can

  650. have life in his name.

  651. And so I want to pray for us and just

  652. [music] ask a question if you'll bow

  653. with me here and and just and just ask

  654. is there anyone in here that's like you

  655. know what I've been putting

  656. all my eggs in the basket of my business

  657. bringing me joy or

  658. even my marriage, my relationships,

  659. whatever that might look like. And it

  660. it's just not working. I've tried

  661. everything.

  662. pleasure, money, it's not working.

  663. And I've never put my faith in Jesus,

  664. but I'd like to make that decision

  665. tonight.

  666. If that's you, would you slip your hand

  667. up? And if [music] you're willing, would

  668. you pray this prayer with me and just

  669. say, "Father, I'm a sinner in need of a

  670. savior.

  671. Believe that you live the perfect life

  672. that I could not. That you died the

  673. death that [music] I deserved willingly.

  674. Repent of my sins and place my faith in

  675. you and your finished work upon the

  676. cross.

  677. believe that your blood takes away my

  678. sin. Believe that you were buried in a

  679. tomb for three days and rose to life

  680. again. And because you live, I can have

  681. life in your [music] name, Jesus.

  682. And Lord, for the rest of us, would this

  683. good news not become old news?

  684. Will all of the festivities of tonight

  685. and tomorrow not take away [music] from

  686. what actually matters the most?

  687. that [music] it's more than a wonderful

  688. life, but we have eternal life

  689. in Jesus.
