Get your Bibles out, if you haven't already.
-
Wave them around.
-
Make Jesus glad in the devil mad.
-
Let's say this together Say heavenly Father, I'm so glad to be in church today.
-
This is where I get encouraged, this is where I'm getting discipled.
-
A disciple is a disciplined one, a taught one, one who knows who they are in Christ, one who reads the book and looks into it as a mirror and begins to move toward changing and being conformed to the image of your dear son in Jesus' name, amen.
-
That's what disciples are.
-
Disciples are not just people that just got saved, they're people that are serious about it.
-
And in the book of Acts it said people were known as disciples first in church of Antioch and in disciples it just being disciplined.
-
Ones Takes discipline, amen, to be a real, true follower, a disciple, a follower of Christ, as opposed to somebody that just basically got saved and they're gonna go to heaven on the mercy of God.
-
Well, that's better than going to hell, for sure, amen.
-
But that wasn't the design.
-
The design was for Christians to become disciples.
-
And so let's turn in our bibles to 1 John, chapter four.
-
We're gonna pick up where we left off last week.
-
That's the beauty of being a pastor.
-
I don't have to get it all said in one service.
-
I can come back.
-
I left some things off.
-
I can just it's kind of like the train.
-
You just shut the train down and pull it into the station and then reload it and take off again.
-
Praise God, all right.
-
1 John, chapter four, verse four you are of God, little children, and have overcome them, because greater is he that is in you than he that is in the world.
-
Hallelujah, one of the great, great scriptures and revelations of my life is recognizing the greater one lives in me.
-
He lives in me not to hitchhike from point A to point B, but he lives in me to do what, to put me over in every situation.
-
And then in chapter five, verse four, four, four and five, four.
-
It's amazing how these verses is right across the lane there, right across the page.
-
Who is he that overcomeeth the world?
-
Excuse me, verse four, for whatsoever or whosoever is born of God overcomeeth the world, and this is the victory that over the comeeth the world and even our faith.
-
And so we're talking about the overcomer.
-
I can't re-preach what I said last week.
-
If you weren't here, I think it's still up on the Facebook page.
-
You can find it on YouTube or you can get it on.
-
I don't know if it's up on the website.
-
We're building a brand new website, so we've had challenge after challenge on the website to get it where we want it.
-
We decided not to hurry.
-
We want to get it exactly like we want it, we want it beautiful, we want it useful, and it just takes a lot of time.
-
And same with our screen, our screen.
-
We rearrange the screen and add it to the site.
-
Well, you'd think that would be easy.
-
Well, it's not anything easy.
-
It was hard to do, plus the fact we have to reprogram everything and we just couldn't get it done.
-
So that's why the screen is dark this morning, but it will be taken care of.
-
It just takes a lot of work to keep going.
-
Amen, we're overcoming.
-
My name is so, but anyway, a quick recap Because of Jesus, we're all overcomers.
-
Well, we talked about last week the legal side and the vital side of redemption.
-
The vital side coming from the Latin in Vichier, according to life.
-
I like to just speak plain English.
-
So the legal side of redemption, what Jesus bought and paid for that's ours legally, but then functionally, vitally, is what we actually experience in this life through our own faith, whatever we have revelation of and whatever we claim and we overcome to receive, how many of you found out that life is not just everything dropping on top of your head?
-
Wonderful, you have to contend for some things, don't you?
-
And so?
-
But because of Jesus, we are all overcomers.
-
He said everyone who's born again has the greater one.
-
To put them over, we all have the greater one.
-
Every single believer has the greater one, and I believe that every believer ought to receive the baptism of the Holy Ghost and be filled with the greater one.
-
You get the greater one when you get saved, but you know you have him in a measure.
-
John the Baptist said you know Jesus was filled with a spirit without measure, and so it sounds to me like believers could be filled with a spirit, but with a measure.
-
It's not like as massive as Jesus, but I believe the whole body of Christ taken together has the spirit without measure.
-
But there's a condition the whole body of Christ needs to be filled with the spirit.
-
And you know what?
-
That's not true.
-
Most of the body of Christ is not filled with the Holy Ghost.
-
Most of them are evangelical.
-
Most of them, you know, they may have born again, but that's all there is.
-
There's no real overcoming.
-
The overcoming one is not held in high enough esteem in my opinion.
-
Let's not be part of that.
-
Let's hold him in high esteem and then it says you know, in chapter five, verse four, and this is the victory that overcomes the world, even our faith, the believer has been dealt the measure of faith.
-
Romans 12, 3 said you were dealt man, you got a winning hand, man.
-
Amen Reminds me of playing cards, my Baptist cousins.
-
They were taught that cards of any kind was a devil, and so they wouldn't play cards, they wouldn't play rook, they wouldn't play hearts, they wouldn't.
-
I'm not talking about gambling, I'm just talking about a card game.
-
You know just a little.
-
You know 52 pickup is a card game.
-
Just, you ever play 52 pickup.
-
I did once.
-
I've learned what it meant.
-
I don't have time.
-
If you need that explained, I don't have time, all right.
-
So, but we've been dealt a winning hand.
-
We got dealt overcoming faith when we got saved, and then what we've done with our faith since then is up to us.
-
You know we have something to do with our faith.
-
We can't pray to increase our faith.
-
That's not done.
-
Faith cometh by hearing and hearing, and hearing and hearing.
-
That's why God delivered me from the fear of repetition.
-
You know, years ago God spoke to me.
-
I think it was after we moved in this building.
-
No, it was over in the seventh day church.
-
In the building right before this one, he said teach what you take for granted.
-
And so I would make my notes, you know, and I'd put in big bowl letters across the top Teach what you take for granted.
-
And I'd remind people.
-
That's what I was doing, because, you know, I found out that not everybody knows what I know.
-
Not everybody's sat under what I sat under.
-
A lot of you did, a lot of you did.
-
And so you've heard what I'm gonna preach this morning before.
-
Well then, it's water for your faith.
-
Maybe it's not new, it is fresh.
-
You can plant a fresh crop of overcoming that will come up in victory down the road.
-
But then, on the other hand, you know, some people are new and they need to plant this word in their heart or they're not gonna overcome.
-
And that's what disciples do.
-
Disciples are overcomers, amen.
-
And so we have the two ingredients that we need to overcome.
-
I mean, if you give a carpenter, somebody that's really skilled.
-
I mean, you give them a hammer and nails and some wood, they can build a box.
-
A seamstress I don't know what is a seamstress, a male, I'm not sure what the male and female of seamstress is.
-
I don't think about men making dresses.
-
But anyway, if you did, if you did I mean, all you need is what Needle and thread and some cloth you can make a dress, make some clothes.
-
So that's what we've been given the raw materials of overcoming.
-
We have the material that we need to overcome in every situation.
-
That's why we can laugh at seeming impossibilities, not in foolishness, but because of what Jesus has done for us, amen.
-
So last week we talked about three characters, not the three, but three characteristics of the overcomer.
-
The overcomer number one thinks right.
-
Number two talks right.
-
Number three walks right.
-
And so it's a progression.
-
You know you're not gonna do right if you don't think right.
-
You're not gonna talk right if you don't think right.
-
Out of the abundance of the heart, the mouth speaks.
-
It looks like you've had a hard fall.
-
See this, my watch needs.
-
I'm okay, don't call the EMS, I did not fall, I've just got excited.
-
See my watch, it's power of God just overwhelms my watch, my Apple Watch.
-
My Apple Watch thinks I'm falling but I'm rising.
-
I'm just going up, up, up, up and if I don't answer it it just sits there and just rings and dings on my wrist and it's a distraction.
-
This is the second time in a week that that's happened to me.
-
I guess I'm gonna have to take off my Apple Watch before I start preaching.
-
Anyway, so we overcome.
-
We have the raw materials of overcoming and you have a progression of thinking, talking and walking correctly.
-
It's a progression.
-
So it all starts with your mind.
-
That goes back to discipline.
-
We have to discipline our thought life.
-
We have to be renewed in the spirit of our mind.
-
We have to be transformed by the renewing of our mind.
-
We don't be conformed to the world's way of thinking.
-
That's why, under the anointing this morning, we were talking about the world's way of thinking.
-
Everybody's just superheated over one nation and let me tell you that nation's got a whole lot of judgment lined up for it.
-
It's suffering a lot because of the judgment, the end time judgments that are written.
-
It can't be averted.
-
That mean I don't care for the children.
-
Yeah, I care for the children.
-
Of course I do.
-
But every one of them dies, goes to heaven.
-
God doesn't lose a child.
-
I can tell you that right now he loses no children.
-
But Ukraine and Russia and all in China, all of them have blood, great amounts of blood on their hands, innocent blood going way back, way, way, way back.
-
So for us to get all excited about that, to ignore what's going on here that was my point.
-
Not that we shouldn't be concerned, but in the scheme of what's going on right now, the nation's judgment of the nations has begun.
-
Well, what does that mean?
-
That we're victims?
-
No, we're the victors.
-
This is the victory that overcomeeth all of that, even our faith.
-
So I wanna build you up, because right now this is opportunity for the church.
-
There's opportunity after opportunity to shine.
-
Amen, all right.
-
So we talked about that last week.
-
This week, let's look at a definition of the word overcome.
-
I think we all pretty much know what it means, but I like to see what it means in the Greek, and that word overcome means to subdue or to prevail.
-
It does mean to gain.
-
The victory does mean that, but I like the word subdue and prevail because it indicates more accurately the process of overcoming is not instant.
-
What do you mean by that?
-
Well, I just mean I used to watch a lot of boxing.
-
I just was raised on boxing matches.
-
I grew up as a kid and Floyd Patterson was a heavyweight champion.
-
Back when I was a kid and I just thought Floyd Patterson hung the moon and I was expecting him to beat.
-
I think it was Sonny Liston beating and I was so disappointed Sonny Liston beating.
-
And then who beat Sonny Liston was Cassius Clay.
-
Well, at those years I didn't root for Cassius Clay who became Muhammad Ali, because Cassius Clay was a different generation.
-
He bragged on himself.
-
He would say things like I'm pretty, I'm pretty, that Sonny Liston man he's.
-
Oh, do you see him?
-
He looked like a gorilla and see, that's offensive.
-
I mean in my little teenage years I don't know, some of you are too young to even know that went on but I mean, back then if you're an athlete, you didn't brag on yourself and run the guy down.
-
But nowadays it happens all the time.
-
You know they talk trash.
-
You know they talk trash all the time.
-
But back then, see, he wasn't popular but man, he was good.
-
He won me over with his skill.
-
But you know, I watched a lot of boxing until Evander Holyfield got part of his ear bit off.
-
I paid a pay-per-view to watch that.
-
And listen, I don't play golf, I don't you know.
-
I don't you know.
-
I don't go hunting.
-
I don't go hunting in Wyoming or Alaska.
-
I know pastures that spend quadrillions of money on things.
-
I just buy a pay-per-view every now and then Watch, you know, watch, a mixed martial arts thing.
-
But that was 96 after the church had started and I watched.
-
I wanted to watch the heavyweight championship between Evander and Mike Tyson.
-
Mike Tyson was already past his prime.
-
I mean back in Mike Tyson's day he did end some fights in the first round.
-
I mean he would come out, do that overhand, right, and it was over.
-
I mean 10, 15, 20 seconds, but that was a rarity.
-
Most boxing's called a sweet science.
-
It means a strategy.
-
It means that you box and you hit and you have a strategy involved until finally you prevail in the fight.
-
You either prevail by knockout or you prevail by a technical knockout, which is the fight can't continue.
-
Guys, see it, stars.
-
He's not on the mat but he's unable to defend himself, so they call it TKO.
-
Or you just out point him and you out point the person and you win that way.
-
But it's not usually instant.
-
You don't usually just come walking out of your corner, round number one and wham and that's the end of the fight.
-
That's what most Christians think.
-
They think when they're gonna overcome something it's gonna be a knockout blow.
-
But no, we're to what Prevailed.
-
Are you with me now?
-
We've gotta quit expecting instant results.
-
I mean, that's my point, instant results.
-
And so I paid I don't have $55 for this fight and it was a boxing match heavyweight.
-
It was just right up my alley and until Mike Tyson bit a big corner out of Evander Holyfield's ear and they stopped the fight.
-
And then they let it go on and he did it again.
-
And so then they ended the fight and gave the fight to Evander and I thought, man, what a waste of $55.
-
I saw the month.
-
This is a cheap.
-
This is not like what I'm used to.
-
This is not a Muhammad Ali fight.
-
This is not what I grew up watching.
-
So I quit boxing.
-
Boxing became a side show, and when I found about mixed martial arts, when then I found my sport, I watch a lot of that Same thing.
-
You don't end the fight usually.
-
Now, sometimes you do, but very rarely does the fight end in the first 15 seconds.
-
I've seen a couple and I paid a lot more money for the seed.
-
That went up in Price City, so now they're going right for a pay-per-view is like 80 bucks.
-
80 bucks for a TV Well, it's three hours long.
-
It's entertaining.
-
I didn't you go play golf.
-
It's gonna cost a lot more than that.
-
I just don't care whether you like it or not, I'm gonna watch what I like to watch.
-
Some of you are just judging me.
-
I can tell you're judging me.
-
Pastor is so carnal he likes to look at people beat each other up.
-
Yes, I do.
-
I love it, as long as I'm not the one in the ring.
-
You won't see me in the ring, that's for sure.
-
So this implies victory.
-
It's seldom instant in manifestation.
-
Amen, that's my point this morning.
-
I want you to get that.
-
So let's talk about three more things about the overcomer that I couldn't put in last week, that I wanna talk about today.
-
And so the overcomer number one is possessed by patience, possessed by patients.
-
We talk a lot about that guy's possessed, you know, especially those road rage incidents.
-
You know some of those people are possessed, all right, and but I got that, that idea, from a brother, normal, normal Hayes, he'd say that.
-
He'd say you know, you need to be possessed by patients.
-
You know, and that's true, we need patients.
-
I said we need patients.
-
Well, guess what You've got?
-
You've got patients.
-
The same way you got faith.
-
It was dealt to you.
-
Patience is one of the nine gifts of the spirit, or one of the nine fruits of the spirit.
-
I misspoke nine fruits of the spirit.
-
The gifts of the spirit are given, the fruits of the spirit are grown, but you've got the seed of patience, just like you had the seed of faithfulness or faith, you had the seed of joy, you had the seed of love.
-
You have all those things when you got saved.
-
Those are the fruits of the recreated human spirit.
-
You know, the King James capitalizes the S and says the fruit of the capital S, it's really not, it's really the, it's really the recreated human spirit.
-
Your human spirit, made in the image and lightness of God, has the fruit of the spirit.
-
One of those fruits is patience.
-
So what does fruit have to be?
-
It has to be developed, it has to be grown, it has to be exercised.
-
And so, when you're a baby Christian, do babies have any patience, man.
-
When they're wet, they want to be changed yesterday.
-
When they're hungry, they want to be fed right now, not later.
-
You can't say honey in about 10 minutes, no, no patience.
-
The same with us when we're growing up, when we first get saved, we don't have any patience.
-
What has to happen?
-
Well, we've got to develop that patience.
-
God'll give you some things just based on the fact that you're a baby.
-
He'll just give it to you as soon as you ask.
-
But there comes a day when it's no longer that way.
-
How many of you discovered that that?
-
Oh God forgot my name.
-
He forgot my.
-
No, he didn't.
-
No, he's expecting patience.
-
Eh Bitt, you know Luke 2119,.
-
Jesus said in your patience, possess you your souls.
-
And actually that's talking about the end times.
-
If there's ever a time when Christians have to have patience is right now.
-
We want to see some things change.
-
We want to see some things change in our political realm.
-
We want to see this resident be thrown out and replaced.
-
But I don't like the vice resident any more than I like the resident.
-
So I'm tired of reading about the first husband.
-
Anyway, that's just me.
-
That's just me.
-
Yeah, we have to have patience In your patience.
-
Jesus said possess you your souls, be possessed with patience.
-
Hebrew 612, faith and patience inherits the promises.
-
You're not gonna inherit what God had bought for you, what Jesus paid for you, any other way except faith.
-
And we like to just cut the and off and just say faith by faith, by faith but and patience.
-
Patience means you're gonna have to prevail.
-
Patience means are you with me now?
-
It's not a one punch knockout in round number one.
-
You're gonna prevail.
-
In fact, james 1 4 says let patience have a perfect work, that you may be perfect and entire, wanting nothing.
-
You show me a person's got faith and patience, and they're unmovable.
-
I said they're unmovable.
-
They can't be moved back off of their stand.
-
I mean, it looks like things are going to hell in a hand basket and they still shouting the victory.
-
Glory to God.
-
They're not complaining, they're not whining.
-
I don't know where God is.
-
He seemed to have forgotten.
-
They never say that, never.
-
You never say it.
-
They never say that they know better.
-
Why?
-
Because they think better Goes back the last week.
-
They're thinking better.
-
They're not letting their mind be conformed to this world's way of thinking.
-
Let's face it we're in an instant society.
-
Instant gratification is the order of the day.
-
I mean, we go to Water Burger.
-
Okay, water Burger, you stand in line line.
-
Fine, you get up there, you order your order.
-
It's just a simple order.
-
You didn't go to Water Burger to order a pizza.
-
You know that they don't have pizza there and you're not gonna waste the guy's time or the lady's time ordering pizza at Water Burger and they don't have it.
-
Yeah, people from Chicago bought them out.
-
I guess you know that.
-
So, just a matter of time, for deep dish pizza goes in Water Burger, anyway.
-
And then you get to the winners.
-
Oh, yeah, we're working on your order.
-
You pay at the winner and then they tell you we're working on your pull up to the line and one of our associates will be with you shortly.
-
We're shortly is another 15 minutes.
-
See, are we happy, are we glad?
-
See, it's wonderful that you've gone to Water Burger and you've waited twice Now.
-
You waited in line, you ordered, now you gotta wait again to get the food.
-
See, see, we're conditioned to have it right now.
-
We want it now.
-
I never will forget the first time I encountered a microwave oven.
-
You know, microwaves didn't really come out until the mid-70s.
-
I was a home builder so I know, I know when they came out and that's when I had to start offering them in my new houses.
-
But they had them for sale.
-
I remember I don't know if you remember Litten Litten had a microwave.
-
It was $1,000.
-
One thousand bucks for it.
-
It was kind of like the early cell phones.
-
You know, early adopters always pay through the nose right.
-
But actually I came across a microwave at my plant at Reynolds Metals in Gregory Texas.
-
They had a microwave in the lunchroom and I didn't know what it was, I didn't know how it did what it did, but it was a miracle.
-
I thought it was a miracle.
-
I just I never saw anything like it.
-
But it was a microwave oven.
-
I just didn't know it.
-
It didn't have a sign on it, it didn't tell you anything about it.
-
But I would get the Denny Moore beef stew out of the vending machine.
-
I mean, you know, I'm just a college kid, I'm working there in the summer, I'm not going to have a lunch.
-
I mean, everybody else in there married old guys.
-
They brought their lunch.
-
I didn't bring a lunch.
-
Are you kidding?
-
I ate out of the vending machine.
-
What'd they have?
-
Denny Moore stew.
-
It came in a plastic.
-
I thought plastic, huh, where's the can?
-
Well, the reason it was not in a can is because you put it in the microwave.
-
And the guy said, what?
-
Put that in the oven, it'll be done in about a minute.
-
I said what A minute?
-
And I put.
-
I just curled the lid off, you know, to let the steam out, put it in one minute.
-
Later it's hot, steaming beef stew.
-
That still tasted terrible, but it was hot, instant.
-
Where are the microwave society?
-
Where are the ones that want it?
-
Now?
-
See, we've got.
-
We can't be allow our thinking to be conformed to the instant society we live in.
-
We've got to have what Patience and let patients have a perfect work that you may be perfect, an entire, wanting nothing.
-
Praise God, I like what brother Smith Wigglesworth said.
-
He said you know, most Christians that I know give up before the answer comes.
-
And that's that's true then, hundred years ago.
-
It's true now.
-
People give up before the answer occurs because they're expecting water burger.
-
God's got to get it to him right now.
-
Amen.
-
Are y'all with me now?
-
All right, so the overcomer is number two, constantly filled with the Holy ghost.
-
You know Ephesians, chapter five, verse 17, beat.
-
Be not ignorant, not understanding what the will of the Lord is, but be, be, not drunk with wine where's an excess, but be filled with the spirit, be being filled, be continually and habitually filled with the spirit.
-
And so you know, paul told Timothy, you know Timothy was crying and you know they despised him because he was young and he was suffering, because Paul was suffering.
-
So they, they were accusing him cause Paul was a jailbird.
-
It doesn't say that in so many words, you have to read between the lines.
-
But he was being persecuted for Paul's sake, because not everybody was on Paul's side.
-
And they thought well, here he is.
-
He's so spiritual now he's been arrested and so so he's crying.
-
He said, you know, quit your crying.
-
You need to stir up the gift that was giving you by the laying on of my hands.
-
You need to rekindle the flame, you need to stir the embers of the gracious gift of God.
-
It's in there.
-
You just haven't, you haven't stirred it up.
-
See, that's the same as being filled.
-
You need to be filled and filled again every day.
-
Be filled.
-
It takes time, it takes effort, it takes prioritizing.
-
It takes prioritizing which gets back to what Discipline disciple gets back to making choices that impact your victory and how quick it's coming or how, if it's not going to come.
-
I mean you know some people have been waiting on victory way too long.
-
I mean you know there's it's not all, god, it's not all.
-
And they do, they lay it on God.
-
Well, god's teaching me, let me know.
-
See, the minute you say that you're you're wrong.
-
That's wrong thinking, that's religious Amen, because God's already paid for everything.
-
He's already the check's been paid.
-
I said the check has been paid.
-
Why aren't you eating?
-
Why aren't you eating of the victory?
-
See, it's on you.
-
Any kind of any failure to receive is a faith failure or a patience failure.
-
Faith and patience inherit the promises, so being constantly filled with the Holy Ghost, stirring up the gift of God.
-
You know Lester Somerall, and he was a young preacher back a brother, smith Wigglesworth, died the year I was born, 1947.
-
And he was in his 80s.
-
I think he was called the apostle of faith.
-
I forget.
-
You know, I read reports where 19 people raised from the dead in his ministry.
-
23 people, I'm not sure which is accurate, but let's just say it's a whole lot more than me.
-
I mean, one man was already embalmed in the casket.
-
He went in there, picked him up out of the casket, lead him up against the wall and raised him from the dead, amazing.
-
And so Lester Somerall a young preacher you know wanted to know his secret.
-
So he went across the pond and looked him up over there in Wales where he was living, and went to his house and interviewed him.
-
He says you know, brother Wigglesworth?
-
He said what do you do every morning when you get up?
-
And he said when I get up, I dance and shout for 20 minutes, I twirl, I run around my house 20 minutes.
-
Now he's in his 80s.
-
And he said and then I pray for an hour and I read my Bible for an hour and then I start going through my correspondence to see what my day is gonna look like.
-
So every morning it's two hours and 20 minutes, plus of all of the spiritual things that he would do.
-
And of course it amazed Lester Somerall here.
-
He is a young man.
-
He didn't do anything like that.
-
I mean, you know, he might have read his Bible and prayed, but as far as like shouting and dancing, here's this old man dancing.
-
Glory to God, the joy of the Lord is your strength.
-
Amen.
-
So constantly filled with the Holy Ghost.
-
That's my point and it's vital to stay that way and that keeps you God inside-minded, that keeps you recognizing the greater ones.
-
See, a lot of times we go through life and we forget the greater ones in there.
-
He'll put me over.
-
I double dog, dare you.
-
The next time you face something at work or in your home or something that's challenging, you start thinking about the greater ones.
-
You know what.
-
The greater ones gonna put me over in this situation.
-
The greater ones in there.
-
He's in there to put me over in this situation.
-
He's putting me over.
-
He's gonna give me the strategy.
-
I mean, you need a strategy.
-
The devil has strategies.
-
We're to stand against the wiles of the devil.
-
Ephesians, chapter six, said the word wiles is military strategies.
-
We, a lot of times, we just kind of throw, we just lob answers back at the devil.
-
You know if we throw the name of Jesus the time or two, we do this and that we don't have a strategy.
-
Listen, you need a strategy.
-
He's got one.
-
How do you get it?
-
It's praying much in the Holy Ghost, leaning on the greater one.
-
Are you getting anything out of this?
-
Finally, the overcomer is number three, confident and consistent to use the name of Jesus, just like we did this morning.
-
We got off on magnifying that name.
-
There are so many names in the earth, so many false God's names.
-
I read what Brother Hagin said about Israel.
-
He said people tend to think about the sexual sins and the excesses of different things that Israel did, but he said the worst sin, from God's standpoint, seemed to be idolatry.
-
It's harder to get forgiven from idolatry than almost anything else.
-
I mean, look at David.
-
David committed adultery and murdered the husband.
-
You know, you ride the hitchhike, one of his great soldiers.
-
He got his eye, cast his eye on Bathsheba and committed adultery with him, had a baby with her and had him kill so he could marry her.
-
And he did it.
-
He did all of that and God forgave him.
-
I said, god forgave him, but idolatry, you know Brother Hagin said this.
-
I believe it's true.
-
I mean from my reading of the same Old Testament many times in 40 plus years reading my Bible, that the thing that really sunk Israel's ship, so to speak, was idolatry Using other gods, other gods' names on their lips, building those groves, having those idols, building those idols.
-
In Western society we tend to have other types of idols, but they're still idols.
-
And so let's be confident and consistent to use the name of Jesus.
-
Philippians 2-10.
-
Name is above every name.
-
I quoted it earlier.
-
Jesus was conferred that name because he inherited it.
-
He got that name by conquest when he beat the devil, amen.
-
So you know, by conferring it he was conferred, it was conferred upon him.
-
He got it because he was victorious over the devil and he got it by inheritance and he turned around and gave us the church.
-
Only, no one else can use his name, no one.
-
Ask the sons of Sceva.
-
They tried to use the name.
-
They were Jewish, they had a covenant, but not with Jesus.
-
No, we've got a better covenant.
-
And when we use that name, I tell you the earth still doesn't want you to pray in that name.
-
You can get by with praying all kind of things In his name, in your name, we pray.
-
I learned this from Brother Osteem, because Brother Osteem was the most bold about using the name of Jesus.
-
He didn't care who was in the audience.
-
He didn't care how many you know Jews were there, and sometimes some Jews are real sensitive and I'm sorry, you know I mean.
-
One time I prayed in the name of Jesus and in the name of the God of Abraham, isaac and Jacob, just to throw him a bone.
-
He didn't really help much.
-
He is that, but there's only one name.
-
The name of Jesus is how I'm instructed to pray.
-
You think I'm going to alter it just because of you, and so this is what.
-
This is.
-
What got Israel in trouble was this idea that other names, when God had proclaimed his name Romans 19, 13,.
-
His name is called the Word of God.
-
His name is called the Word of God.
-
Everything, all the power and authority that is in the Word, all the blessings that are in the Word for His covenant people are contained in, and the gateway into those is the name of Jesus.
-
So be powerful in that name.
-
Know when you speak that name it's not just like a magic word.
-
No, spend time meditating on His name and how great it is.
-
Spend time knowing down on your spirit when you see the church.
-
We have the cart block.
-
We have the absolute invitation to use that name.
-
We have permission to use that name.
-
Others, when they use that name, they get in trouble.
-
We can use that name exclusively to unlock what Jesus has already bought and paid for.
-
Praise God, use it.
-
Use that covenant rod.
-
I like to call it the covenant rod of authority, in which we overcome, in which we subdue and prevail.
-
Come on, lift your hands, receive Everybody say I'm subduing and prevailing.
-
I laugh at seeming impossibilities, not in arrogance but in faith, knowing what I have in Christ.
-
Come on, did I do you any good this morning?
-
Be encouraged, are you encouraged this morning?
-
Hallelujah, glory to God.
-
Thank you, jesus.
