  1. Bible says, in Acts 1, 1:3 That he being Jesus presented himself

  2. alive to them after his suffering by many proofs.

  3. Appearing to them during forty days.

  4. And speaking about the kingdom of God, So essentially here in

  5. this one verse at testifies, to the fact that after Jesus Christ

  6. died was buried and rose from the grave, he appeared to his

  7. disciples. He appeared to many during a

  8. period of 40 days. Speaking about the kingdom of

  9. God and all that did was build more testimony and more validity

  10. and more eyewitness accounts of the fact that we serve a Christ

  11. that's alive. So turn with me to Luke chapter

    Luke 24 chapter mention

  12. 24 because there are specific incidences where we see Jesus in

  13. his resurrected State meeting these people and each account

  14. that's recorded in scripture, is not just for us to see the proof

  15. that, yes, he did appear to certain individuals, but there

  16. are lifelong lessons for us as Believers to know how to

  17. associate, and to relate in to walk with this resurrected

  18. Christ. And one of those stories is

  19. found in Luke 24:13 and you know this story.

    Luke 24:13

  20. If you've read this chapter before concerning two disciples

  21. that were walking rather to the road on the road to Emmaus.

  22. And so, in verse 13, he says that very day, two of them were

  23. going to a village named Emmaus about, seven miles from

  24. Jerusalem, and they were talking with each other about all these

  25. things that happened. While they were talking and

  26. discussing together, Jesus himself Drew near and went with

  27. them. But their eyes were kept from

  28. recognizing him and he said to them.

  29. What is this conversation that you are holding with each other

  30. as you walk and they stood, still looking sad The contacts

  31. to this specific portion of scripture is this is that the

  32. woman that followed Jesus came to his tomb.

  33. They saw these angels, these angels testified that Jesus was

  34. not here, but he has risen and they ran back to the rest of the

  35. disciples to tell them of this news.

  36. But it says, in Luke 24. Verse 11, but these words seemed

  37. to them as an idle tale. And they did not believe them.

  38. so here, these ladies that heard from angels, He's not here for,

  39. He Is Risen and Mark's gospel. It tells them and us that the

  40. angels and fact said, go to Galilee where Jesus will

  41. actually meet with you so he reveals to them.

  42. Through the Angels, I'm alive meet me in Galilee and so these

  43. faithful disciples run to the rest of the disciples and they

  44. say, Jesus is alive. Jesus is risen.

  45. We saw angels that testify to this and he said you guys lost

  46. your mind. And instead of going to Galilee

  47. two of them that were not one of the eleven, but two of them that

  48. were in the group. They don't go to Galilee, they

  49. walk towards Emmaus. Its eyes are walking to Emmaus.

  50. The Bible tells us that they were discussing these matters

  51. and verse 19 to 24. We don't have to read it but

  52. it's it tells us the subject of their conversation, they were

  53. testifying and they were talking and they were wondering what

  54. happened to Jesus. We put our hope in Jesus.

  55. We put our trust in Jesus and he dies and it's the Talk of the

  56. Town and moreover. Now the Mary's come and they

  57. tell us that he's not even in the Tomb.

  58. And so they heard that Jesus was alive, but they were walking and

  59. disbelief. They were walking and pain.

  60. They were walking and sadness. They were walking with a heavy

  61. heart. They were burdened.

  62. That is not how we ought to walk.

  63. If we understand that Jesus is Alive.

  64. But that is the reality of many people and you might be that

  65. person here this morning. You heard and you sang that

  66. Jesus is alive, but you're walking with grief.

  67. You're walking with a burden heart, there's something

  68. weighing you down and you're not walking in the reality that

  69. Christ is indeed alive. It's information.

  70. It's news, but it's not a reality in your heart.

  71. And a lot of people walk like that.

  72. Today they have pain, they have questions there in the dark and

  73. they wonder if this Jesus really is alive.

  74. Why can't I sense his presence? Where's the direction and his

  75. leadership in my life? What am I supposed to do now

  76. that I'm in this specific season.

  77. Where? Yes, I heard that he's alive,

  78. but I don't sense that he's alive.

  79. And sometimes people walk like that, and you might be walking

  80. like that right now. You don't senses realities.

  81. You don't sensors leading. In fact you've been wondering

  82. probably Lord, I'm in so much pain.

  83. Where are you? I'm in so much trouble, where

  84. are you? I've heard of you but now I

  85. really need you. And it seems like you're not

  86. here and I don't understand because I heard that you're

  87. alive. We have to understand verse 15

  88. and 16 while they were talking and discussing together.

  89. Jesus himself Drew near and went with them.

  90. And their eyes were restricted from seeing him.

  91. In the midst of, that pain, in the midst of that grief, in the

  92. midst of that doubt, in the midst of the disbelief, Jesus

  93. was with them. Jesus was walking with them

  94. though, they could not see him. Jesus could see them and hear

  95. them though they could not recognize him.

  96. Jesus was in fact in their presence though, they could not

  97. sense him. and that's a truth that you and I need to be

  98. comforted with That whether if you're in that season right now

  99. or you will maybe walk into that kind of a season, where you

  100. don't sense him and you don't understand his leadership and

  101. you don't know why you have this pain when in fact he's alive

  102. trust that he's with you. He's walking with you.

  103. He hears you, he's there, he understands.

  104. But the question is, why wouldn't you just reveal himself

  105. right away? I mean Jesus you could have

  106. saved so much time if you just appeared to them and said, hey

  107. it's me. I'm risen.

  108. Hey, it's me. No need to worry anymore.

  109. Why would Jesus cloak himself in a way where they could not

  110. recognize him? Because these two disciples need

  111. to learn a valuable lesson and it's a lesson for us as well.

  112. Turn with me in the same chapter 2 verse 24 and 25 to 27, I'm

  113. going to read from 25 and he said to them, o foolish ones and

  114. slow of heart to believe all that the prophets have spoken.

  115. Was it not necessary that the Christ should suffer these

  116. things and enter into his glory and beginning with Moses and all

  117. the prophets he interpreted to them.

  118. And all the scriptures, the things concerning himself.

  119. So here, these doubting disbelieving disciples and pain

  120. and grief, probably the lowest point in their lives

  121. experiencing so much disappointment.

  122. And instead of Jesus, miraculously revealing himself

  123. to these disciples, you know, what he wants them to do.

  124. Put their faith in the scriptures.

  125. Christ. Puts the scriptures as the

  126. highest Authority Christ, reveals the power of the word of

  127. God. That when we walk in those

  128. seasons of our life, where we can't sense him, we cling to the

  129. Bible, we cling to the word of God, we cling to what is

  130. revealed in the scriptures. Instead of just revealing

  131. himself, he wanted him to see that the anchor of their Hope

  132. was found in the written word of God.

  133. Do you see this? He wants to show them the

  134. authority and the power that is found in the scriptures.

  135. So that in any season, when we feel like we're walking in

  136. darkness, when we don't sense him, we are to understand

  137. through his word. He is alive.

  138. We are to understand and Hebrews 13 Verse 6.

    Hebrews 13:6

  139. The Lord is my helper. Why shall I be afraid?

  140. What can man do to me? We are supposed to understand

  141. Matthew 28 verse 20 behold. I Am With You Always to the very

    Matthew 28:20

  142. end of age. We are to cling to the word.

  143. This is what Jesus is teaching. Them.

  144. And this is why. One of the main reasons, so many

  145. Believers fluctuate, in their faith.

  146. Because their roots are not deep in the scriptures, they're

  147. dependent upon their emotions. There are dependent upon other

  148. people overly dependent. They are swayed by news, back

  149. and forth. And Christ is saying, you need

  150. to be anchored in the truth of the word of God.

  151. The resurrected Christ, reveals to them.

  152. Trust, what's already been written?

  153. And walking with the resurrected Christ is greatly dependent upon

  154. abiding in his word. Get in the scriptures.

  155. That's the lesson. We need to learn as Believers as

  156. we're walking with this resurrected Christ.

  157. He does not remove the scriptures as second in place.

  158. No, he upholds and it says, You must walk with this word in

  159. order to walk with me as a resurrected Christ.

  160. But there's a lesson even here for those who don't believe in

  161. the resurrected Christ. Those in here that made doubt

  162. that Jesus is, in fact alive. Do you know what Jesus

  163. challenges you to do if you doubt the resurrection?

  164. Go to the scriptures. Go to the Bible, go to the Old

  165. Testament as he did and find out that Jesus Christ, fulfilled,

  166. hundreds of prophecies thousands of years before his Incarnation

  167. and realized that this book is not a fairy tale.

  168. I realized that this book is a library of testimonies with one

  169. central theme, as we spoke about on Friday, Jesus Christ, and him

  170. crucified and raised from the dead.

  171. So if you're asking here, if you're a doubt, or if you're a

  172. skeptic, and you're asking God for a sign.

  173. If you're asking God for a miracle, if you're asking God to

  174. appear in your room, somehow, You know what Jesus says about

  175. that kind of thinking, he says it in one way, because Jesus

  176. can't do anything. But this is how much he upholds

  177. the scriptures. There's a story in Luke chapter

    Luke 16 chapter mention

  178. 16 of a man who goes to hell. And he's talking to Father,

  179. Abraham and he says, Father Abraham, I have brothers that

  180. are still alive. Let me raise from this place and

  181. tell them about he'll. Tell them about eternity.

  182. So they would repent, they may actually believe in turn from

  183. their ways and you know what? Jesus says he says these things.

  184. He says, if they do not hear Moses and the prophets, neither

  185. will they be convinced if someone should rise from the

  186. dead? In other words, if you dismiss

  187. the scriptures, you'll dismiss any miracle.

  188. And this book itself is a miracle.

  189. It is a testimony to the person and work and resurrection of

  190. Jesus Christ. But these two that were walking

  191. on the road to Emmaus. They did not reject the

  192. scriptures. In fact, 47 miles, Jesus was

  193. walking with them and he revealed all that was about him

  194. found in the scriptures. And the approached Emmaus, but

  195. Jesus. Is going to walk on ahead.

  196. And there's something happening in the hearts of these.

  197. Two Disciples of these two, Skeptics of these two doubters.

  198. Because in verse 32, it says that when Jesus spoke the word

  199. of God to them on that road, their hearts were burning within

  200. them. Something was happening on the

  201. inside. There was conviction, there is a

  202. sense of life-giving power, and as they were talking with this

  203. Jesus, though, they did not recognize him though.

  204. They could not fully understand him.

  205. Something was stirring up inside of them and they came to the

  206. place where they were going to split paths and Jesus was going

  207. to walk on ahead. And in that moment.

  208. Better make a choice. In that moment, Jesus was going

  209. to keep on walking. It may be either today or it's

  210. been a series of days if you are a doubter, if you are a skeptic

  211. if you are not a Believer, if you were just a religious person

  212. but you've never been born again.

  213. Your hearts been stirring. When you hear the scriptures,

  214. when you hear it, something's happening inside of your heart.

  215. When you sat with the True Believer, they talk to you about

  216. what it means to be a follower of Jesus, there's something

  217. happening in your heart and that is the word of God and the Holy

  218. Spirit knocking on your heart, asking you to answer.

  219. And that's what was happening to these to the word of God.

  220. Was inviting them for more but here's the reality.

  221. Jesus was waiting for their invitation.

  222. Jesus was waiting for them to respond to the word and if they

  223. didn't, she would have moved on Jesus does this a lot in the

  224. Gospels? He just tends to walk by.

  225. You know why Jesus never force himself on you?

  226. If you're in this place that you've never truly surrendered

  227. to Jesus Christ, understand that this is a window of opportunity.

  228. Because Jesus is walking by. and so, in that moment, these two

  229. They said stay with us. It says they strongly urge them

  230. to come. Stay with us, it's late.

  231. Come be with us, their hearts were burning.

  232. We want to know more so many people say these things.

  233. Well, of Christ, really wants to reveal himself to me.

  234. He'll just do it. If Christ really wants to reveal

  235. himself, if Jesus is real, then he'll just show up.

  236. If he really wants me to do saved foolishness, how hungry

  237. are you to realize Christ? How hungry are you to realize

  238. the resurrected Christ? They were stirred and so they

  239. invited him. And the same way that Jesus

  240. responded to their invitation to do the same for you.

  241. He'll do the same for you. The moment you open your heart,

  242. though. You don't understand everything.

  243. Don't you don't understand the depths of what he's talking

  244. about or even who he is. If you're willing to invite him,

  245. he's willing to come And he does, he sits with them and in

  246. verse 31 is the result of what happens when a heart is burning

  247. and they want to know the truth. it says that in that moment,

  248. their eyes were opened In that moment, they understood in that

  249. moment. They saw that Jesus truly and

  250. Shirley was alive. And all the doubt was gone, all

  251. the skepticism was destroyed. Have your eyes been open to the

  252. resurrected Christ. Have your eyes understood him as

  253. the Holy Spirit opened, the eyes of your heart and you are

  254. walking. The reality this afternoon.

  255. Jesus is, in fact, alive. If he's alive, that means

  256. something that changes the way. You live, that changes the way,

  257. you sing that changes the way. You pray that changes the way

  258. you go to work that changes the way you deal with people that

  259. changes the way you look at time, that changes every aspect

  260. of your life, because if he's Life, he's coming back.

  261. He's coming back. He's not staying up there, he's

  262. coming back one day. Some of us were walking downtown

  263. yesterday. There's a flood of people. and

  264. as we were walking one specific Street, All these fire trucks

  265. came to one of the high-rise buildings and you just saw a

  266. flood of people looking up and we look to we didn't know what

  267. we were looking at. And then somebody gave the

  268. observation. As we saw those sea of people

  269. looking up into the high rise building, where the fire trucks

  270. was what will it be like when Jesus splits the sky open?

  271. And every, I will be hold them in that moment.

  272. What a sight that will be. Their eyes were opened they

  273. realize that Jesus was alive. And within a moment before they

  274. can Embrace him before, they can ask him more questions before

  275. they can grab a hold of him. He vanishes, he's gone.

  276. He's not there anymore. Why would he do that?

  277. Why would he reveal himself in such a way and then, just

  278. disappear? Because he wanted them to get

  279. out. And to testify that he was

  280. alive. That's exactly what happened.

  281. He vanishes. I mean, read verse 33 to 34 and

  282. they rose that same hour and returned to Jerusalem and they

  283. found the eleven and those who are with them gathered together

  284. saying the Lord has risen indeed and as appeared to Simon then

  285. they told what had happened on the road and how he is known to

  286. them, the breaking of bread. When your heart burns because

  287. you know, that this word is true and you invite Jesus and he

  288. opens your eyes. You can't help but testify what

  289. he's done for you. You can't contain it.

  290. You can't sit in the same place you must go out because now you

  291. have a testimony. You have a story, you have

  292. something to share with somebody Believers in Christ.

  293. And the world wants to hear what Christ has done for you and how

  294. he's opened your eyes. You have a story now.

  295. It's not about just celebrating in here.

  296. And next week, just going with the Motions, it's about going

  297. and walking with other people and saying, do you understand

  298. that Jesus is alive? He's open my eyes.

  299. He can open yours too. And as you present the

  300. scriptures, who knows their hearts can be burning as well,

  301. and they can invite Jesus, and he can do the same for them.

  302. Ask the Lord this afternoon, let my heartburn, again, let my

  303. heartburn again, to the truth that you are alive.

  304. Fill me with the Holy Spirit to go out and preach Christ

  305. crucified. And not just crucified Alive

  306. forevermore. If you ever find yourself

  307. walking as a disciple and you can't sense him, you don't

  308. understand his leadership. You don't feel the resurrected

  309. Christ. You know, what Christ says to

  310. you cling to the scriptures, cling to the word of God, cling

  311. to the truths that are found in here, just like this story, you,

  312. and I could look at this story because it's found in scripture

  313. and say, hey, these two walked in a season of grief and pain,

  314. they could not understand Jesus and him resurrected, they could

  315. not sense him. But we cling to the scriptures

  316. and we cling to the Scriptures, it will burn in our hearts.

  317. Father, we thank you. We thank you for Jesus.

  318. And we pray. Lord that we would all walk out

  319. of here. So, the truth of your word.

  320. And even our own testimonies that you are alive.

  321. You've revealed yourself to us now.

  322. Help us like these two to go out into the world and testify that

  323. you are alive that the Lord has risen indeed, Help us to be

  324. faithful Witnesses, with this short window called life, before

  325. you return. Help us to work.

  326. While it is day for night is coming.

  327. When no man can work. In Jesus name we pray.

  328. Amen. In Jesus name we pray.

  329. Amen.
