The Utterance Gifts 2

The devil and the man say this together.

Say Heavenly Father, I'm glad to be here today.

The spirit of truth is here because the word of truth is being preached.

The Holy Ghost has got room to move as he chooses and I'm being given understanding of your word revelation, so that my life is built on the rock and when the storms of life come, as they often do, my house will stand in Jesus' name.

Amen, amen, all right, let's turn in our Bibles to 1 Corinthians, chapter 12, and also 1 Corinthians 14.

1 Corinthians 12 · chapter mention

And we'll read from these verses Well, I wanted to, I didn't quite finish last week.

And the utterance gifts.

1 Corinthians 12,.

1, paul, writing to the Corinthian church, he said now, concerning spiritual gifts, brethren, I would not have you ignorant.

He wrote that under inspiration of the Holy Ghost to the church, to believers, and the word gifts is italicized so it does not appear in the original language.

So actually, what it says the literal is that now, concerning spirituals, brethren, I would not have you to be ignorant.

The word spirituals, there is the Greek word pneumaticos, which means wind.

Now, the things concerning the wind, I would not have you to be ignorant.

Isn't that interesting?

He's talking about the Holy Spirit and he compares the Holy Spirit to the wind.

Pneumaticos.

When Jesus in Luke 4, 18 said the Spirit of the Lord is upon me because he's anointed me to preach the gospel, the spirit there is pneuma, see the same root word.

It means wind.

The spirit of God is like a wind.

He's not a wind, but he's like a wind.

On the day of Pneumaticos, they heard the sound of a rushing, mighty wind.

It filled the house where they were seated.

All the just feel that noise.

So the wind can be loud, it can be boisterous, it can be gentle, it can be a breeze, it can be a breath, it can be almost imperceptible.

I mean, you know, if you're in this big room and there's just two of us and I'm up here and you're back there and I'm breathing, you can't hear it, you can't perceive it.

But I breathed, there was a wind, something happened, my breath came out, movement happened somewhere.

You didn't know it, you see.

So he doesn't want us to be ignorant concerning the things of the Spirit.

And then it goes on to give us nine gifts.

And then it goes on to give us nine gifts of the Spirit.

And we talked about those gifts last week.

I'm not gonna go back into them but roughly though, there's three divisions of those gifts the utterance gifts, which involve our mouth or our tongue or our voice, and that would be the gift of prophecy.

And then the two complimentary gifts to the gift of prophecy would be the gift of tongues and the gift of interpretation of tongues, and we talked about this last week.

The gift of tongues is not your prayer language.

When you got filled with a Holy Ghost, you got a new language that you don't understand with your carnal mind unless you interpret that.

You don't always get to do that Sometimes.

Why?

Because the gift of tongues is a message from God, through a believer, in an unknown tongue, to the church that should be, and must be, interpreted.

So there's the two gifts tongues and interpretation from God to the church through the believer, and that equals the gift of prophecy, which is an inspired utterance in a known language from God through a believer, to the church.

All right, so that gonna be going on the same.

So, utterance gifts, the utterance gifts and I'll make a case today why they are the gateway into all the gifts, because when there's a lack of the utterance gifts, then there's a lack of everything, there's a lack of the move of God in your life when your mouth isn't moving right.

We talk about this all the time, the word of faith which we preach for first Roman, chapter 10.

I mean the word of faith.

Our mouth ought to be moving and we ought to be speaking and confessing the word.

We ought to be sending the word to our circumstances.

When we have problems, we ought to go to the word and find out what does the word say about this situation, and then we ought to be speaking that we ought to be asking God and have a come apart every time we get a bad report.

No, we have the word.

That's already been spoken and we can send that word as well as I.

I just preached a message on sending the word the other night.

Isaiah 55.

All right, so the utterance gifts, and then 1 Corinthians 14,.

Let's read those verses one through five follow after charity.

The charity is a real unfortunate interpretation or translation of the Greek word agape.

That's the God kind of love.

It's not charity.

I don't know why they put charity in there, but the King James is just playing the guy.

They were wrong.

That shouldn't be charity.

It's not charity, it's agape, it's love, it's a God kind of love.

Filayo is the human kind of love.

You scratch my back, I'll scratch yours, the human love.

But agape is the God kind of love.

It's unconditional, it's not dependent on someone and how they treat you.

You love them.

It's not a feeling, it's not an emotion, it is a fruit of the recreated human spirit.

So he says follow after agape.

Why did he say that?

Because chapter 13 is the chapter on love.

It's all about the love.

So you know, the proper motivation for flowing in the spirit and especially the utterance gifts or any gift, is the love of God toward the church and the love of God.

You love God enough to be his vessel and you wanna be used of him.

And you're not even that, you're not that concerned about you being used.

You just want someone to be used in the gifts, whether it's you or somebody else.

You wanna see the gifts manifest.

Because why?

Because the whole church is profited when that happens.

That's the proper motivation Not to be seen, not to build your ministry.

Look at me.

No, it's love.

Follow after love, notice.

It says follow after love and desire spiritual gifts.

I've heard the opposite preached and practiced.

I've been in churches that they wouldn't touch a spiritual gift with a 10 foot pole.

They don't want anybody saying anything except the preacher period.

If you've got a word we wanna hear from you, not right this minute, but at the right time, because God doesn't interrupt himself.

All right, so you'll learn.

You'll learn about it.

So desire spiritual gifts are in the again.

The word gifts is italicized.

So desire the wind, desire spirituals, desire the wind to blow, to move, whether through you or through anyone, but you wanna see the church functioning in the supernatural power of God.

Is this making sense now?

But rather that you may prophesy.

Here it is in black and white, right here.

I mean, if you want all these gifts, you want the gifts of healings, you want the gift of working miracles, jesus manifested all the gifts.

You know we just preached not long ago in Matthew 14, where Jesus sent the crowd away.

He said, while I'm sending the crowd away, y'all get on the boat and get on the other side.

I'll see you over there.

They didn't ask him how he was gonna get over there, but he went up on the mountain to pray and then, about three or four o'clock in the morning, he comes walking on the water.

He comes walking on the water and they go ah, it's a spirit, it's I being out of frame.

He's walking out there on the water.

I mean, what's he trying to prove?

Well, he's manifesting two gifts of the spirit the gift of faith and the gift of working of miracles right in front of them.

This is kind of an example.

I mean, you might not ever walk on the water, but if you ever had that fall on you from heaven, you could.

I'm doing it right now.

Paul, only one of them was curious about it.

He says, lord, if it be that, bid me come to thee on the water.

He said come.

He didn't say Paul come, he said come.

So all 12 of them heard him.

They could have.

All 12 went over the side and it would have been on.

Their faith in his word Wouldn't have been a gift of the spirit, it would have been their faith in his word.

Are y'all with me now?

Y'all looking at me kind of crooked, but see how close it works together the word of faith which we preach, and then these supernatural gifts.

They're a little bit different in rules and how they're distributed, but faith works all the time.

But gifts are given.

God had to give Jesus that gift.

He couldn't.

Just he didn't possess in him the ability to do that.

Why?

Because he laid aside his deity, he stripped himself of his divine power and he functioned as a man anointed of God.

So if Jesus could walk on the water, then really we could too.

If we ever had the gift of faith come on us and we had a need to do it, we could.

I haven't known anybody that did, but maybe somewhere somehow.

I mean, I've known of preachers that decided.

You know they had.

I can't remember what country they were in, seems like it was an Eastern Asian country.

This pastor had three churches that he was pastoring and they were miles and miles and miles apart.

And he didn't have a bicycle.

You know, a bicycle would have been really helpful, and even more helpful would have been a motorbike.

A motorbike, but you know, when you don't have gasoline to put in the motorbike, a mountain bike would probably be better.

In his case there's no gasoline.

So what did he have to do on Sunday?

Well, he had to walk.

He got up early on Sunday morning and he had service in his own village and then he just pointed his way to the next church, which was miles away.

It was more than a day's journey to each of the churches and he would start walking and he would wind up at the other church in time to have the second service and he'd do the same thing to the third church and he'd have an afternoon service at the third church and then he'd point himself back home that night.

And every Sunday he was translated.

Every Sunday he was translated to his churches so he could pastor those churches.

And that's how important it was to God for him to get the word to those people that he's pastoring.

And I'm telling you, you know the gift of pastor.

I mean, that's a rare gift.

You know you have a treasure when you have a pastor.

Those people knew that and God knew that.

Are you all with me now?

Oh, the gifts of the spirit.

But the doorway into all of it is the utterance gifts.

I'm gonna make the case in a minute.

You know we preached recently on Hezekiah.

He had these armies of Assyrians coming, 185,000, come against him in Jerusalem.

They were gonna destroy him and all the Jews in the city.

And he had spearheaded revival.

He had cleansed the temple, he had got the priests back in their ministry, he had celebrated Passover for the first time since Solomon's day, and I mean they had.

They had revival, personal revival and corporate revival.

And then the devil came after them.

After revival it hit.

He was doing everything he could to move them off of their commitment to God and he and Isaiah went to the Lord when they found out about this massive army coming toward them and God said you're not, you're not gonna have to fight in this battle.

There's more with you than there is with them.

And so they stood up.

He stood up and encouraged the people of Jerusalem and preached to them.

The king did.

I found it interesting, the king did the preaching.

Not Isaiah, but the king did the preaching.

See, the priests, the prophet and the king, the only ones that had the Holy Ghost in the Old Testament.

They had the Holy Ghost upon them to perform their duties, their office.

So he stood up and the bibles said that they rested on the words of Hezekiah.

They and the message it says they put.

It put steel in their spines.

We need some steel in our spines right now.

We just come through a horrible election cycle where none of our expectations were met, or very few of them.

Very some were, but very few.

I mean some of the ones that we really needed to replace.

We couldn't get them replaced, like the county judge real disappointed and Jack Cagle didn't.

So now they can raise taxes and Harris County.

They can do all kind of bad stuff now.

But a good byproduct of this is that it's got some people motivated in Austin and they're gonna change some laws and we're gonna get some things corrected.

Now We've got another tough four years ahead of us folks, but you know what we serve God.

There's more with us than there is with them.

What do we need?

We don't need another candidate, we don't need a man.

We need a revival in the church.

That's what's needed.

We need personal revival that will translate over into the world and we need, you know, an awakening.

I believe Jesus is coming soon.

I believe there's yet another great awakening coming, but there has to be a revival in the church.

So I'm preaching this because I wanna impact you.

This church is a cutting edge.

This church is out in front on a lot of issues.

A lot of churches hadn't caught up with us.

I don't take credit for that.

I'm just doing what God told me to do 22 years ago Wake up the church.

I used to think wake up the church meant wake up the pastor.

So I spent a lot of time early on trying to talk to pastors.

I never could get one to even go to lunch with me.

I couldn't get one pastor to sit down with me and hear anything I had to say, because I wasn't a mega pastor and I wasn't playing golf at River Oaks Country Club.

So they didn't pay any attention and I thought, well, I got Royal Roberts, now he's backed me up, I'm gonna write a book, have him put his name in the forward.

Nobody cared.

They yawned Nobody.

I couldn't get anybody awakened.

You know, when people started waking up, when I started doing what God told me, he said wake up the church.

He didn't say wake up the pastor, he said wake up the church.

I found out there's a lot of believers out there that are frustrated.

They're not hearing what they want to hear in church.

They're not here, they don't see the leadership in their church.

So I'm starting with the ones that are hungry.

I'm starting with the ones that are ready to get on down the road.

It's working pretty good.

It's gonna work better and better.

Why am I, a pastor, going through all this?

Look, we need to get the gifts of the spirit and operation, not only in the church service, which that's the context of 1 Corinthians, 12, 13, 14, is the church service.

You've gotta have a service where we all get together, where the Holy Ghost is just dripping off the walls.

This is where you get encouraged, this is where you get strengthened, this is where the Holy Ghost can say things to you that you can take out there, talk to you about your children that are wayward, that have been baptized in the spirit of this age.

I had a lady leave the church because her kids had more influence over her than I did.

She's gone.

Well, bye-bye, don't let the door hit you on the way out, because I can't help you if you're gonna listen to your doofus kids that went to college and got all this wokeism on them.

We're not woke here.

That's the spirit of this age.

That's the anti-crush spirit.

It's good to know that LeBron is woke.

Lebron is woke.

Well, you know, if I had a poster of him in my room, I'd tear that thing down, burn it, fool Woke, he'll find out what woke is All right.

So we keep saying the utterance gifts of the doorway into the revelatory and power gifts.

Why do you say that, pastor.

Well, let's look at one verse in verse 39.

First Corinthians, 14, 39.

Wrapping up that chapter, and it goes all the way through speaking in tongues.

And when he talked about tongues, he's talking about trying to give a message in tongues in the church assembly without someone there to interpret.

So if you got a message that God is giving you toward the church, see, when we speak in tongues we often speak in tongues, not often, but we do speak in tongues corporately here, especially on power hour night, that's when we have a prayer meeting we're praying in other tongues and what's the direction of the prayer?

The prayer is from us to God.

So on Sunday morning, occasionally I might just lapse over into tongues.

I mean it's just a habit.

I mean I love to speak in tongues.

I speak in tongues a lot and occasionally I'll say everybody, let's all pray in other tongues.

And it helps me identify the flow of the service, it tells me, it helps me find out which way the wind is blowing.

And you're participating in that when you pray in other tongues.

Well, I don't see the good in that.

Well, I'm just told you what the good is.

And if we got other preachers that want to come in here and criticize pray.

Well, you can't.

It says not to do it.

Well, it says forbid not to speak with tongues.

Why don't you read the end of the chapter before you get yourself all wound up into a position that the Bible doesn't make?

Corinthian church was well-versed in spiritual things.

They came out of the occult.

They know about spirits.

He's got to correct a lot of things that are wrong in there because they were popping up.

Women were popping up, and women and the men were not sitting together like we do.

There's places at India I go do a pastor's conference in India that women are over here, the men are over here.

I kind of make fun of them.

See, I don't like each other.

What's wrong?

What happened?

Y'all have a fight on the way to church.

I mean I do Listen.

That's a silly tradition that leaked into the church a long time ago and it needs to be gotten out of.

And when they walk from one place to the other, the wife walks.

If you're Indian, I mean I'm not knocking you, but I mean that's what I see.

The man leads the woman and she's 20, 30 foot behind her, behind the husband, and so when Brother Osteen would go over there, he would make them get together and hold hands.

That was all the bike-travity, the roller, the way that you Zigzag would do it is for the people off hand.

The whole motor was down there.

Yes, the conductor.

The rest of the employees waited and stayed back when they were traveling.

Then the man is looking to the ground and the woman starts selling his�� for it into his bag.

The seat is the guy.

Thatuchi knows the man first to pull out of his bag.

Its shoulder, his teen, embarrassed to even say anything about a woman.

Oh, this is holy.

I can't think about a woman.

I said it's good to have a woman when you're on mission field.

Two's better than one.

So finally, weekly, one would raise his hand, boy, and I mean I laid it on thick.

He turned redder and redder.

It was so funny.

So we get the direction and the intensity of the wind together sometimes.

But it says here in 1 Corinthians 14, verse 39, wherefore brethren covet to prophesy.

1 Corinthians 14:39

There it is a second time.

The word covet means to earnestly desire to prophesy.

Why?

Because the church is edified, exhorted and comforted.

You love the church.

You want to see it built up, you want to see it strengthened.

That's the purpose of a church service.

We can get together, we're stronger because of it, we're informed of things that we might not have known, we're taught the Word of God, we serve together and we become accountable to each other.

More about that in a moment.

Wherefore brethren covet to prophesy, there is the green light, there's the invitation.

He doesn't say covet to work miracles, he said covet to prophesy.

What do you do?

What do you use when you prophesy?

Your mouth Covet, a desire earnestly to prophesy, and forbid not to speak with tongues.

Let all things be done decently, in an order.

So that's the bottom line of the whole chapter.

They had disorder in their churches.

People were popping up and giving messages in tongues where there was no interpreter.

Otherwise, some people were giving prophecies and they were not being judged.

A prophecy should always be judged.

Who's the judge?

Me, I'm the one in charge.

So if you prophesy, if it's off base, I have to say so.

It's awkward, it's awkward for you, it's awkward for me, it's awkward for everybody listening.

But we're a body, we're a family, so we have to start having a level of trust.

I would never fuss at you, I'd never condemn you.

But if you come up and you say something, then you mix a bunch of stuff up.

One example I have of that one time one lady stood up and started prophesying and she prophesied this way.

She said you know, the Lord is showing me, the Lord shows me, the Lord shows me, the Lord shows me.

And get and out of your vocabulary when you prophesy, because and is a conjunction that links two thoughts.

You're already in violation because you're making multiple thoughts and trying to put God behind it.

Look, it's one thought.

It is you know, it's one thought from heaven.

It's all that anybody needs to give.

You don't need to go on and on and on.

Are they finished yet?

Yes, they're finished, but they keep going.

I've had it happen.

So this lady.

So she prophesied and I said okay.

I said now let's shorten it up, let's stop with the first and don't do any more.

And just the first thought that you came up with, instead of third person, instead of saying God shows me or God told me, stand up and say thus says the Lord and speak for God in the first person.

It wasn't a lick of anointing on that prophecy, by the way, just didn't see a prophet, a prophetic word, if it's really real, and the Holy ghost authored it and anointed the person to deliver it.

It's going to lift the service to a higher level.

Who's judging that?

Me?

And if I don't sense a higher level, if I don't, if I see the crowd is kind of settled back down instead of up, I'm going to be looking for ways to fix it.

So, anyway, I had her.

I said, go back and do it again.

And I mean, as God is my witness, the anointing came back in the service.

She was a little embarrassed, but she shouldn't have been.

What am I doing?

I'm helping her, I'm discipling her, I'm training her in the ways of the spirit.

I'm giving her some knowledge that I'm going to take me a lot of years to learn the things that I've learned about it.

Are y'all with me now, y'all?

I'm never going to stand up.

Well, yes, you are.

If the Holy ghost anoint you, you will stand up, because you already said last week you asked God to use you last week and I still remember what you said.

I'm going to hold you to it.

I'm telling you when, when the gift, when the utterance, gifts start to flow, there's a level in the service goes higher and higher and it opens up the door for other things to happen.

It releases my, my gifting to begin to do other things like the words of wisdom, words of knowledge, gifts of healings, working of miracles, that that falls under my office.

All you need to do is just do the utterance gift.

And what is the utterance gift?

It's a part of God's knowledge about a person, place or thing.

You know.

It's a excuse me.

It's an inspired utterance from God through a believer to the church, an inspired utterance that does three things it exhorts, edifies and comforts.

All right, so this ought to be a language of the spirit that we become conversant in.

Everybody say conversant.

See, I took two years of Spanish in high school, but I am not conversant in Spanish.

I know fajitas, enchiladas, frijoles, refritos that's refried beans for you, gringos.

No, no, no, no, no, no, no, no.

Mostly food, you know, mostly it's a food that limited the food Andale.

No, that's what you call it.

Tell a donkey, you don't tell a postman.

Vamanos is the other, all right, so Now, I'm not conversant in it, I didn't practice it enough, and so we need to become more conversant in the language of heaven, amen.

Now, how do you do that?

Well, you read your Bible every day.

You read Psalms every day.

Psalms is the language of worship and praise.

It's language when you think about the word.

When you think on the word you're thinking about.

See, perhaps some of you at your profession you were sent for further education, I think it, especially the technical field.

You know a lot of you.

You're in the technical field, like computers or whatever.

You're working at a certain company and they'll send you off for a class and sometimes you leave town, have to go over an intensive on job training.

You know and they, you go over this and you get certified.

All of these classes have a language that they're familiar with.

That you've got to get conversant in.

You've got to be conversant in the language of what you learned.

Are y'all?

Is this making any sense?

I'm trying to give you the connect, the dots here so that you understand that we need to do something ourselves.

We can't ask God to do all this stuff.

We have to dedicate ourselves to not be ignorant.

Failure to have any knowledge or understanding of the spirit realm, partial knowledge or partial understanding of the spirit realm, which is, most people, partial, what's still ignorant.

Don't stay there.

Get conversant.

And then, of course, there's ignorance, which means you ignore or you don't pay attention A lot of times the spirit of God is moving on us and we don't identify it because we're so distracted.

Multitasking will do that to you, and we're demanded to have multitasking almost everywhere we work.

Now People are inundated with all this multitasking business and I think it's.

I think, I don't think it's.

I think our productivity goes down, not up.

I don't think our minds are able to do that very much.

We get so divided.

We're paying attention over here, and then suddenly we move over here and then something over here, I'm a, I'm a, I'm a, I'm a, I'm a.

I tell you it's dangerous.

Let's get conversant in the language of heaven.

And so look, look at Luke 418.

I want to make this point why are the utterance gifts the gateway?

Why is it so important for me to prophesy?

Well, first of all, I read you the Bible.

There's two witnesses in one chapter told you to cover it to prophesy.

If you ignore that, you've just thrown the word out.

I guess he was talking to somebody else when I read it.

He's talking to me.

I read it 40 years ago and you know what I?

I'll obeyed it.

I somehow summoned the courage to stand up in front of several thousand people and prophesy on Sunday night.

Was it something I aspired to?

Was it something that I really wanted to do?

No, but I did it because he said desire earnestly to prophesy.

I'll tell you how that happened in a minute, all right.

Luke 418.

Jesus is speaking in his own hometown.

He said verse 18, the spirit of the Lord is upon me because he has anointed me to preach.

What do you use when you preach?

Your mouth, your voice?

He anointed me to preach the good news to the poor.

What would the good news to the poor be?

You don't have to be poor, no, more Not.

Oh, you're glorifying God.

Just keep on being poor.

I wasn't the good news.

Jesus was a prosperity preacher.

When people accused me of being a prosperity preacher, I plead.

I plead, yes, guilty.

I'm a prosperity preacher.

I believe in prosperity.

What do you believe in?

Poverty?

You a poverty preacher?

There's lots of places that have that.

He's anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor.

He has sent me to heal the brokenhearted.

Jesus was a sent one.

He's the apostle and high priest of our profession.

Sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach.

There it is again.

Delivers to the captives.

And conjunction understood, verb preach.

It's not there, but it is understood, preach deliverance to the captives and preach recovering of sight to the blind.

So so far he's talking about what he's anointed to do and mostly it's preaching.

Keep on reading To set it liberty, then to the bruise.

Okay, that's not preaching, that's setting.

Then here it is again to preach the acceptable year of the Lord.

He says preach four times.

So it must be pretty important what you say about anything, because the anointing was on Jesus, primarily on his words, primarily on what he was saying.

Doesn't that match up with the word of faith which we preach?

I mean, we say this all the time.

You can have what you say.

There's an anointing on your words.

Why?

Because you're made in the God class of being.

We don't have to pray about everything.

A lot of times we can just say things, we can declare things, we can appropriate with our words.

If we believe in our heart, we can speak it with our mouth and things begin to happen.

Why?

Because we have creative ability with our words.

This is why our country's down the tubes.

We haven't said anything, we haven't spoken against the evil, we haven't magnified the good, we haven't stood up in front of people and said I'm gonna preach a little bit to you.

We don't have to say it that way, but you can preach.

This means to proclaim.

It doesn't mean to debate.

There's a place for debate, but I'm not big on debate, I just like to preach and we can preach.

Amen, are you with me?

There's, the anointing is on that.

So what is the primary evidence that you're filled with a Holy Ghost?

We teach you that in Faith Foundation's Bible study.

It's speaking in other tongues.

They were all in one place, in one accord, on the day of Pentecost and there came a sound from heaven as a rushing, mighty wind.

It filled all the place where they were seated and cloven tongues, like as a fire came and sat upon each of them and they were all filled with a Holy Ghost and they began to speak with other tongues as the Spirit gave them utterance.

So that's the first evidence of the baptism of the Holy Ghost is that you speak in a language you don't understand.

Somebody said well, I'm filled with a Holy Ghost as much as you, I just don't speak in tongues.

Well, no, you don't.

You know.

No, you're not, because I go with the word and everywhere the word talks about the baptism, it talks about people speaking in tongues.

There's three or four of these in the Bible.

It's not my purpose, but I want to tell you okay.

So what is speaking in tongues?

Your spirit prays to God.

It's a supernatural prayer language to God.

Jesus said I'm anointed to preach to you.

So is it really weird, then, that God would talk back to us in a way through our own tongue, our supernatural language, that our brain doesn't quite understand?

But all of a sudden, when we're praying much in other tongues we're praying and all of a sudden a tongue comes out that it's not normal, our normal prayer language.

Has anybody ever had that happen to them?

Well, that's God talking back to you and you can pray to interpret that.

Or what happened to me was I just would pray in tongues every day and I'd be out there.

I mean, I might go an hour praying in other tongues.

Now you can start out.

You probably can't start out with more than five minutes because your mind wanders and your mind finds reasons not to do it.

Your flesh starts giving you trouble.

You have this cough and this and that, and the phone rings, the email goes off, text goes off and I better answer that and you interrupt.

But look, if you're disciplining yourself.

And this is what you have to do.

To have personal revival, you're gonna have to give some time to Him.

You're gonna have to schedule Him in and schedule everybody else out and everything else out.

You schedule Him in and everything else out.

You draw a circle around yourself and say nothing comes.

In that side of this circle you might not be able to have a private place.

I, like Brother Osteen, you know, had six kids running around the house.

He said I'd sit in the middle of my living room and I just draw a circle around my chair.

And everybody knew that when I was sitting in that chair not the mess with me, he didn't have a prayer closet, he just prayed right there in the middle of the living room, praying in tongues, talking to God and everybody running, getting ready for school, doing here, doing there, mama and all this kind of stuff, doty, cooking breakfast, getting the kids off to school he's in there praying.

You can do it if you will.

I can't do it for you, you can do it, I did it, I do it.

Schedule God in and so you begin, just simply.

I mean I was praying in tongues, I guess for an hour or something, and I stopped, took a breath and I felt something that I just I kept getting this thought son, son, I kept hearing the word son.

So I just said, son, you do well to draw near to me, because you draw near to me, I draw near to you, and if I draw near to you, my ability and my strength and my anointing comes upon you to make a difference in your day.

So keep drawing near to me, son, and I will be with you in all the affairs of life.

You'll have success.

Well, thank you very much.

What was that?

That was a prophetic word that did what Exhorted, edified, in comfort.

What was the exhortation?

Draw near because you're not close enough yet.

Is this helping anybody?

I'm giving you some things that it took me years to understand and to know and to flow in.

And people teaching oh, you can't prophesy, it's flaky.

You prophesy over yourself, that's flaky.

Well, it's not flaky.

You're a member of the body of Christ.

You need edification and comfort.

If bread and tongues edifies you, prophecy does the same thing, and you can't edify others if you're not edified.

And so I mean I just started prophesying to myself, I'd walk up and down to my, and so let's look at the Bible here.

Let's not just do it because Pastor said Colossians well, first Ephesians one, I'm sorry, ephesians five, verse 18,.

Be not drunk with wine where's an excess, but be filled with the spirit.

Be being filled, be continually and habitually filled with the spirit, didn't say occasionally, be continually and habitually filled with the spirit.

We live in a society that's making demands on our ministries.

We are giving out even when we're not really thinking about it, and we need to be replenished.

We need to be replenished on a constant basis.

I mean, if you ever tried to drive on empty, I mean your car just doesn't work very well and these modern cars have fuel injection.

You run that thing dry, you're in a heap of trouble.

It may not start again without a big repair bill.

You get air in that fuel injection and all that kind of stuff.

You get all kind of trouble.

And so don't run out of gas, don't run out of the Holy Ghost.

Keep filled, keep being filled, speaking to yourselves and songs and hymns and spiritual songs.

See, I speak to myself.

Sometimes it's a prophetic word, sometimes it's just confessing the word myself.

It's not necessarily from heaven, it's not God talking back to me like son, I'm telling you to do this.

But sometimes it's just me confessing the word.

I'm confessing the word and all of a sudden I'll get a prophetic word, and then I'll know that it's God speaking to me son, this, that or the other.

First of all, it sounds really good for him to call me son.

Just the sound of him telling me that in my voice gives me a confidence, gives me a boldness that can't be obtained any other way.

Think about what happens when a church service, when you've got words of encouragement and edification and comfort coming forth, and you have two, maybe three of those in a service and the service level rises and rises, is anybody getting anything out of it?

Well, I've taken a lot longer than I intended.

It's an investment.

We're going to have fun tonight.

We're going to have a party, we're going to have campfire Christmas tonight, but this one we'll have a short service tonight.

Six, by the way, six o'clock, nine, six, thirty, six o'clock.

Everybody say six o'clock.

Well, pastor, I don't usually come on Sunday night.

Well, make an exception, come tonight, six o'clock, all right.

So, speaking to yourselves in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord, this is how you're filled with the whole, to go Speaking to yourself.

Then, number two giving thanks.

Always, he that prays in an unknown tongue verily, give a thanks.

Well, sometimes you just run out of English or whatever your native tongue is.

You run out of words to praise him and you just get over into tongues.

You can praise him in other tongues.

What are you doing?

You're getting filled with the Holy Ghost.

And then there's a third one, giving thanks.

Number three submitting yourselves to another in the fear or in the reverence of God.

You reverence God in the body.

How does that happen?

Where you got to get close enough people To submit yourself to them.

What does it mean to submit?

It means cooperate, cooperate Around.

Here.

You ought to get involved, helping us do the things that we do.

You ought to be an usher.

Well, we have gatekeepers, but we always need help in every area, every area of the church that you see people working.

We need help in that Hospitality.

We need help in every area.

Children's church oh, what a great place.

Children's church oh, what an opportunity for you to be a blessing.

You don't have to teach the children, all you have to do is have a little sliver of your time in part of the service, not every week, not every service Get involved and then you're submitting yourself to one another in the reverence Forgot.

Lord, I reverence you and I believe in Gloria's Way Church.

I'm going to give some of my time.

I'm going to be over there, I'm going to show up.

I'm not going to always make a demand and want something.

I'm going to give something.

I'm going to give my time, I'm going to give my heart, I'm going to give my energy.

I'm going to take time and get full of the Holy Ghost and just explode on those people when I greet them at the door, in the welcome ministry.

They're going to know that they came to church.

They're going to feel the presence of God because I'm there Submitting.

I mean, it's pretty hard to get full of the Holy Ghost and be snooty with your husband or your wife.

You know you've got to be sweet.

I had a preacher say used to, her favorite saying was shut up and be sweet.

Are you getting anything out of this?

So there's no substitute for being filled with the Holy Ghost.

Turn over to Colossians real quick.

Verse 16,.

Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly and all wisdom teaching and admonishing one another.

The word admonish is pretty strong.

Admonish is worn, admonish is a little bit.

You kind of got to win people over before you started admonishing them.

I mean, I wouldn't suggest starting off with admonishment.

But but you know, as trust and love and relationships grow in a church like this, where people are working for a common goal, they're involved.

You know, look at the, look at the similarity between Ephesians five and Colossians three.

Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly.

See why.

How did that happen?

Well, you meditate on it, you read it, you speak it to yourself.

Songs and hymns and spiritual songs singing, making melody in your heart to Lord.

You're full of the Holy Ghost, you're full of the Word.

So let the word of Christ dwell in you richly and all wisdom teaching it, admonishing one another in songs and hymns and spiritual songs singing, and spiritual songs singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord.

That was exciting to get a spiritual song to sing in front of everybody.

I said, lord, they've got a worship team up there.

I'm not part of it.

In fact I didn't qualify.

I flunked out.

I went out for the worship team one year.

Y'all didn't know that, but I I didn't.

I wasn't good enough to be on the worship team at Lakewood because I couldn't read music.

I still can't read music.

We're training our little kids to read music now.

And so I just kind of laughed.

I said, well, god, if you want me on the worship team, you'll have to bring me in on another way.

And he did, and I had a song.

It was a prophetic word, but it was a song and all I could do.

I got up there and I thought how can I do this?

And he just, I just heard myself tell the worship team play something jazzy.

And so Ruth got up there and she played the piano and I said, oh hell, the word.

And then I started singing big papa up in heaven looks down on us tonight.

He sees our praise and worship.

I didn't even know the words ahead of time.

All I heard was big papa.

Big papa up in heaven looks down on us tonight.

He sees our praise and worship.

We are precious in his side.

He is the one that made us the heaven, the season sky.

Pretty soon he's going to send Jesus to heaven.

We're going to fly.

And it went on and on and on like that.

You talk about a service that went up.

I thought brother Osteen was going to swallow his tongue.

I didn't dare look at him.

But it went on and on.

I mean, I just kept singing, the words kept flowing and they were man, I mean the band.

They loved it because they were playing in the spirit with me.

It sounded like we had rehearsed for six months, but the Holy Ghost orchestrated the whole thing.

You talk about a place where the level of the spirit starts to see this.

I'm talking about revival.

Now we need revival.

We need revival.

We need revival.

It's going to be starting with us as we covet, to flow as vessels in the utterance gifts.

Come on, lift your hands and receive.

Praise God, did you get anything out of this?

I know I kept you a long time, but you know it's an investment.

I know the word will multiply in you.
