We'll just stretch out your hands this way.
-
Let's pray.
-
Father, we just thank you for your word.
-
The entrance of your word brings light and, lord, we just thank you that we're all.
-
You're illuminating your light within us tonight, father, you're giving us supernatural utterance to speak your word.
-
Holy Spirit, have your way in this place, have your way in our words.
-
Lord, it's Lee and I are your mouthpiece to say we believe in supernatural hearing and so we're able to move in the gifts and we're able to speak your truth in love that penetrates the darkness and illuminates a clear path for each one of us to walk in and believe in and stand strong in.
-
And thank you, lord, that we're standing strong on you.
-
You are our firm foundation.
-
We can hear your voice and another we will not follow.
-
And, lord, we just thank you that we're being filled tonight by your Spirit, by your Holy Spirit, and it's really we live out of our Spirit and not our flesh, not our mind, our will and emotions and not our flesh, but we live out of our Spirit and our Spirit man, the inner man, is being strengthened tonight in you, in Jesus' name, amen.
-
Amen.
-
So we're glad that you've joined us and you've come tonight, if you'll open up your Bible to Ephesians, chapter five.
-
I'm going to read it out of the Passion Translation to get us started.
-
And it says in verse 18, something we've read over and over and over again Ephesians 5, 18 and 19,.
-
Passion Translation says and don't get drunk with wine, which is rebellion or reckless living.
-
It means in the Greek, but instead be filled continually, be being filled, in other words, with the Holy Spirit, or that means to be inebriated in the Spirit's fullness.
-
And so, real quick, let's just break that out and just talk about the right now we have a lot of people watching a football game that they've made their God and they've put that ahead of a lot of things in their life, and they're drinking lots of alcohol and some, or maybe even most, are becoming drunk and they've given themselves over to alcohol.
-
And so an alcoholic can't go one day and really and really like one moment without a drink.
-
And all the apostle Paul here is saying that we should be equally addicted to the Holy Spirit, to give ourselves over to being filled with his Spirit.
-
And then it continues in verse 19, and then our hearts will overflow with a joyful song of the Lord.
-
And then he encourages us to keep speaking and keep singing words of Scripture, singing the Psalms, with praises and spontaneous songs given by the Spirit.
-
So we give ourselves over to being filled with his Spirit and filled with his light, and we speak to one another and Psalms and hymns and spiritual songs.
-
It just comes out of us, but it all becomes out of being filled with the Spirit.
-
And so, whatever you came here, whatever you came here facing tonight, I just want you to know that the law of lift, just like it lifts an airplane, when you begin, when you fill yourself up with the Spirit, you're lifted, your spirit is lifted and therefore everything about you, your mind, your will, your intellect, you can no longer be depressed, you can no longer be sad and you are lifted right out of the mess that you came here facing, all because of being illuminated by your Spirit and being filled with the Spirit.
-
So our title tonight is being motivated by feelings and not feelings.
-
Right, people are motivated everywhere by their feelings, but we're motivated by our feelings.
-
And so real quick, real quick inspiration feelings like, not not like, spirit filled.
-
So the difference between motivation and inspiration.
-
Inspiration comes from the Holy Spirit.
-
You hear about, you know I was inspired, I watched this, you know YouTube video or some guy's talking and I was inspired to do ABC or D.
-
No, your inspiration really should come from the Holy Spirit, and the Holy Spirit only.
-
But your motivation comes from your spirit.
-
So you don't motivate yourself in your mind.
-
You're never going to get their thinking thoughts of oh, I got to lose weight, let me know.
-
No, you're motivated by your spirit.
-
So, again, you're inspired by the Holy Spirit.
-
And then you're motivated by your spirit.
-
And so we're talking about being motivated by the fillings and you say well, jay, that's contradicting each other.
-
But no, we're filled by the spirit.
-
So we're inspired by that feeling, but we're motivated by our own spirit, because it's spirit to spirit.
-
Then our spirit, man is, is strengthened, and and so on and so forth.
-
So to remain motivated by the fillings and not our feelings, we number one is we must be filled.
-
Excuse me.
-
Oh Ben, can you hand me yeah?
-
thank you, gosh, I appreciate that.
-
And so you know, in Jude one 20, I'll just, you know, quote it.
-
It says beloved, build yourselves up on your most holy faith, praying in the Holy Spirit.
-
We've all, we all know that scripture, we're familiar with it, but it's build yourself up on your most holy faith.
-
Your faith is personal, you've made it personal, so I'm just going to include the youth here.
-
You're, you know, grandma's praying for you.
-
It means a lot, and your parents' faith can take you a long way, but but your faith you're building yourself up.
-
You being filled with the Holy Spirit is the only way that you're going to be kept from the devil, who's constantly walking around seeking whom he may devour.
-
That keeps you from being devoured, amen.
-
And it says.
-
It goes on in the next verse, jude one 21, to guard and to keep ourselves in the love of God, which brings us into eternal life.
-
Our theme in youth is John 10, 10,.
-
The enemy comes to steal, kill and to destroy, but Jesus came that we may have a rich and a satisfying life.
-
Another translation says an abundant life.
-
You know talking about filling.
-
So you know whatever like yes, we made Jesus once upon a time our savior and we got filled with the Holy Spirit.
-
But you know, sometimes in life we get squeezed and so what?
-
Eventually you can get squeezed and like what's going to come out?
-
The Holy Spirit, the word of God, faith or your feelings or offense is going to come out, yeah, emotion.
-
So I got, I brought this little like Anna and Zaria, come here, anna, sorry.
-
Yeah, they gave me this little.
-
What is it?
-
Lip gloss, stand up, stand up come up here.
-
So what's in it?
-
What's in it.
-
You might see some of that on the Super Bowl halftime show tonight, but I'm not putting food coloring.
-
Vaseline with glitter.
-
You made it yourself, they made it.
-
Awesome.
-
Thank you.
-
I can go sit back down.
-
So they homemade this.
-
They gave it to me right before.
-
So I'm going to put this on my lips.
-
So you know my lips are always chat, but you know I'm going to squeeze that and that's going to come out.
-
So, just like in life, you know, what are we filled with?
-
Are we filled?
-
We are filled with the Holy Spirit, but we have to allow Him to come out.
-
I have to allow Him to.
-
You know we have to.
-
We should be spirit led, not flesh led.
-
Amen, amen, amen.
-
So number two?
-
So number one is to be filled with the Spirit.
-
Again, we're talking about being motivated by feelings and not our feelings.
-
And number two is your spirit takes and has dominion over your flesh, in other words, your spirit.
-
You've got to talk out of your spirit to your mind, to your flesh.
-
In David, in Psalm David is full of my soul, my soul.
-
He's always talking to himself and I just thought, instead of reading it, let's just, let's just paraphrase Mark 14 for a second.
-
You've got Jesus in the Garden of Gethsemane.
-
He's taken his top three disciples, peter, james and John, right?
-
We all know the story, we've all read it many, many, many times.
-
But in verse 33, he says he began.
-
The Bible says that Jesus began to be troubled and deeply distressed.
-
Where was this distress coming into?
-
It was coming into his mind.
-
It was coming into his flesh and he began to sweat great drops of blood.
-
That was through his flesh, right.
-
And he says Jesus says in verse 34, my soul is exceeding my soul, not my spirit.
-
He says my soul because at this point Jesus is the Son of man and he's walking in the flesh just like you and me, daily.
-
He has the Holy Spirit helping him.
-
But listen, he admits.
-
He said my soul is exceedingly sorrowful, even to death.
-
And he asks his disciples three times hey, stay and watch, I'm going to pray.
-
But you stay right here and you watch.
-
And what did they do?
-
Three different times they fell asleep, right, and we're always tempted to fall asleep and to be out of the fight and to be out of the watch.
-
And I'm telling you, while Jesus was praying, he's strengthening his soul, his mind, his will, his emotions and his flesh to be able to go to the cross, to face a certain death and to face being in front of Pontius Pilate and having the right words to say.
-
You say, well, it was Jesus.
-
No, jesus had flesh, just like you, just like me today, and he had to talk to his body.
-
He had to talk to his mind, his will and emotions.
-
And so you're not exempt.
-
I'm not exempt.
-
I'm going to tell you a story here about something that we've been facing here lately.
-
But we're not exempt.
-
We have to talk to our soul and our mind the same way.
-
And so Jesus was talking to his flesh, but Peter and James and John, they were sleeping.
-
And so what happened to Peter?
-
Right after this, peter went through a really tough time and he ended up denying Jesus, he ended up trying to quit the ministry.
-
Oh, I go a fish in.
-
He just left everything behind.
-
And he why?
-
He had an opportunity right here to get strengthened and encouraged and to encourage himself and the Lord, and he chose not to.
-
And so, uh, and Jesus said uh, in verse 41, I'm sorry, uh, uh, 38, sorry, watch and pray lest you enter into temptation that word temptation, uh.
-
You know tests and trials as well.
-
Uh, and the spirit, indeed, is willing, but the flesh is weak, your flesh is weak.
-
You know, dad preached this morning a great message, uh, on having a way of escape in and I'm not at all correcting the way he preached it, he preached it right out of the King James version, a way of escape.
-
But in the new King James and in the amplified, it says the way of escape and it is the way.
-
God doesn't have just any multiple ways of you getting out of the mess, the temptation, the test or your trials.
-
He has the exact way, just like we have that, uh, a sign in the lobby that says Jesus is the way, the truth and the life.
-
There is the way of escape, and so I'm facing something in my body tonight, even tonight, that I'm believing God for the way of escape, and so, um, you know, uh, I don't know if I want to jump to that or not, but I will.
-
So several months ago, I developed a growth in my mouth and so it looked pretty nasty, despite the fact that I'm not a smoker, I don't dip and I brush my teeth.
-
I actually floss.
-
I'm one of those rare people that flosses, I carry mouthwash and I have toothbrushes everywhere, and anyways, that was not my problem.
-
But somehow, some way, I developed something in my mouth that looked really nasty and Selena said hey, why don't you go see?
-
You know, I missed the dentist.
-
For some reason, I didn't mention it to the dentist.
-
It really wasn't that scary looking.
-
When I was at my last dental appointment and I decided to go after it got worse, decided to go to the doctor instead, she was like hey, why don't you go see my oral surgeon?
-
I was like, no, I'll just go see the doctor.
-
That was mistake number one, not listening to my wife and so went to the doctor and wow, jay, I've never seen anything like this.
-
This looks, you know, and he sends me to an expert.
-
But that expert took, you know, two or three weeks to get in to see him.
-
So go.
-
He's an ENT, so go see him.
-
Oh man, I've never seen anything like this.
-
Let's biopsy it, let's send it off.
-
So, you know, never had anything biopsy.
-
Thinking about cancer, thinking about, like brother Tom over there, whose face cancer, like multiple times and defeated it.
-
But me, man, I got about two days into this, I think on day one or two I got to preach Brother Winston's funeral, and so I was up all night the night before that.
-
But it turned into night after night after night of no sleep, like zero sleep, and in that nighttime, when all the lights were off, when Selena was asleep, I just I allowed myself first of all in the natural to Google what this thing was that looked like cancer and tasted like cancer, and it was the nastiest thing.
-
And I thought, man, then the devil, you know, started working on me.
-
Man, you're going to lose your half your tongue, you're going to not be able to swallow, you're not going to be able to taste, and it's spread into your throat and I'm getting all these other symptoms.
-
And then just exactly what you, what you think about, symptoms, just like my brain, fake right Spoiler alert at one cancer.
-
So but I put so much pressure, thinking thoughts I know my dad just preached about that, about.
-
There is now no condemnation, but I'm again.
-
I'm not exempt.
-
But somewhere around around day five, day six, I lost the ability to stay asleep.
-
I could go to sleep but I couldn't stay asleep and so I got the good report it wasn't cancer.
-
I go home, I lay down.
-
I think we had praise and worship practice that night.
-
So I'm pushing, pushing, pushing.
-
You know, go lay down to go to sleep.
-
Nothing would not.
-
I couldn't stay asleep, I would go to sleep, I would bounce off a wall, as the only way to describe it.
-
I can sleep for about 10 minutes, you know I.
-
So I got really desperate.
-
But in on day like 20, got really desperate.
-
Like sleep deprivation affects every area of your body and in every so.
-
It's like your digestive system really slows down.
-
Like one meal a day, Like it's just that's it, you know, like every single.
-
So then, panic attacks.
-
Never had a panic attack.
-
Prayed for lots of people that had panic, panic attacks.
-
If you've ever had one, like okay, you just pray in tongues, you don't have the mental capacity to pray, to read your Bible.
-
You better have it in you because you can't function.
-
So Selena would just begin to pray over me and I lost the ability to sleep in my own bed.
-
I don't know, I can't describe that too in the natural.
-
It was just, and and I started having lots of irrational things started happening at about day 25 of less than two hours a night, and I'm telling you, it was miserable.
-
And so I would go outside Justin bought me a fire pit for Christmas Thank you, justin and I would stoke that thing with wood and lay next to it and I would listen to Mark Hankins and Nancy Dufresne and all the people, and I would begin.
-
I would fall asleep and I would dream for 10 minutes at a time about whatever I was listening to.
-
But one of those miserable times, selena, just I see her come outside.
-
She's all wrapped up in a blanket and she's like you know, if you're going through something, mom, I'm going through something.
-
We're married, we're one and we're going to fight this together.
-
She just began to combat every negative thought that I had and pray it.
-
And I'm telling you these two books, if you don't have these either, one of these books.
-
This is Trina Hankins, god's Healing Word.
-
But she would preach like she.
-
She had to do it because I couldn't read my vision, I couldn't focus, I only had like a couple hours a day of of sanity and I, I would have to spend that two hours of sanity.
-
I would read, I would, I couldn't just waste time, you know, watching a motorcycle video on YouTube or whatever, like I had to just soak in the word because I was fighting.
-
And so finally God sent me some relief.
-
But I'm still believing God for the answer, the way of escape.
-
God has the way.
-
That's perfect.
-
So so let's see, just having faith.
-
So again, I'm not exempt, I have to.
-
So so what should I have done?
-
See, then it didn't, it didn't matter.
-
Hearing everybody.
-
I began to hear everybody's terrible story.
-
I called Avery Jackson.
-
He's a brain surgeon that preached to you last year I don't know.
-
You all remember that in March he began to encourage me spiritually and telling me some of the things that were happening on the brain side.
-
So your brain is like an organ in your flesh and your mind is part of your will, your intellect, but your brain is like spraying your ankle and then expecting to walk on it again the next day.
-
But I'm telling you, god is, we're in the middle of a miracle and your pastor, my dad, has gotten up here and preached with AFib and Aflutter and mumps and everything and preached through all kind of stuff.
-
And I just thought when he was preaching this morning I kind of felt released to tell this story because you might be facing something similar.
-
And I'm telling you, you cannot quit, you cannot just give in to every negative thought that you have.
-
There's a price to pay for a certain amount of worry, like you may worry about something small and that's not necessarily sin, but there gets to be an area where you're disobeying the word of God so much that it's stopping you from receiving God's will.
-
And that's what I did.
-
I crossed the line Now again, like dad preached this morning.
-
There is therefore now no condemnation, so I don't have any condemnation about it.
-
I'm just using myself as an example and if it was easy for me to fall into, then it might be easy for you to fall into, and I think of people who really it was funny because I finally did go see the oral surgeon and I didn't say anything about that, I hadn't slept and all that stuff.
-
But he just recognized it right off the bat and he undid man, I'm an expert in this area.
-
I see oral cancer maybe twice a year.
-
It is so rare in America for you to have any kind of.
-
Do you smoke no.
-
Do you dip no.
-
Do you drink alcohol no.
-
So like I had like a.
-
But at the same time he still didn't know what it was Right.
-
And so on his way out, like he thought and thought and thought, but by then it's almost gone away and by then, in Jesus' name, I am healed, I've received my healing.
-
But I'm just saying in the natural, on the way out the door, he opens the door and he turns around and he's like you either received a miracle or it's cinnamon.
-
And I was like what cinnamon?
-
And he's like do you eat cinnamon?
-
It's like, yeah, every day I pour like an insane amount into my coffee.
-
He's like stop it.
-
He's like everything that I can't describe medically has to do with cinnamon.
-
So there you go, like I don't know, maybe you are one of those people who puts half a teaspoon of cinnamon on a spoon, and you know, I have done that for like 10 years.
-
Why would it all of a sudden flare up.
-
But maybe that's what it is, maybe not, but either way I'm healed.
-
That doesn't really matter what it is right, amen.
-
So just, I'm in the middle of a miracle, so we're not exempt.
-
So number three, way two, being motivated by your feelings and not feelings filling of the Holy Spirit is to refuse to be anxious.
-
Refuse to be anxious.
-
And so you know, no matter how loud the voice of your mind and your soul and your emotions get, your spirit man cries out deep under deep.
-
And you, man, your spirit is so strong when you've worked him out and you've allowed him to be filled with the Holy Spirit.
-
And so again, the Lord's trying to minister to us, spirit to spirit.
-
So Selina is going to take the Philippians for scripture, but I just wanted to, real quick before that, I wanted to compare two different ways of thinking.
-
You've got Peter talking about in 1 Peter 5, 7, to cast all your cares upon him, for he cares for you.
-
Great scripture, I believe it, you believe it, we believe it.
-
Then, when we take on something, when we take on a care onto ourselves that we shouldn't, god is there, he cares, and all we have to do is cast it onto Him and he takes it away.
-
It's all up to Him and it's up to us to not take the care of that back on over and over and over again, but to really cast it.
-
But then you have.
-
And I wrote this down cares or continued thoughts of what you can't control.
-
There, you go, you just think about it.
-
Think about it and cares, keep you in the natural mind when you care, when you keep thinking about that thing that you can't control, hey, god, you, you're the one in control, I can't.
-
I'm not gonna change that At this situation.
-
I'm gonna pray, I'm gonna, you know, get digging into your word, but I'm not gonna take that care because I'm just gonna be in my natural mind if I do, and we're a spirit being, the real, you is the spirit, you know, and so sometimes the real you has to talk to the fake, you, your soul, right and like get a grip.
-
And so we just have to allow the real, us, the spirit being, to come out and say, no, that care, that's not on me, I'm not taking that.
-
Amen, jesus, you know it says that he knocks at the door of our spirit, of our heart.
-
But the devil rings the doorbell of our mind and if you, you say, well, jay, don't make that bad confession, that's not mean, but that's just like Dad said in the Bible.
-
You know that's in the Bible.
-
This morning I'm not making a bad confession, that's in the Bible.
-
We have to be ready to combat him.
-
You have to have the full armor of God on.
-
In Ephesians six, you know we.
-
But here's two different ideas.
-
You got Paul saying be anxious for nothing, for literally nothing, don't even take it on.
-
And then you have Peter.
-
Hey, if you get far enough where you've taken it on, here's what to do with it, cast.
-
But you know, I'd rather be the person who doesn't ever take it on right.
-
Amen, you know, to never own it, to never, to never accept it as truth to you know.
-
And so with that, I think I'll just talk about anxiety.
-
Take, talk about Philippians four.
-
Read it first if you don't mind.
-
Yeah, yeah, I'm gonna.
-
So.
-
Philippians four.
-
I'm gonna go to Philippians three.
-
I'm gonna read that first In verse.
-
Let's see, let's start with verse.
-
I'm in the New King James.
-
Yeah, philippians three, 18.
-
I'll read 18 and 19.
-
So many walk, for many walk, of whom I have told you often, and now tell you, even weeping, that they are the enemies of the cross of Christ, whose end is destruction, whose God is their belly and whose glory is in their shame.
-
Who set their mind on earthly things, and I underline that, who set their mind on earthly things.
-
And that is the starting point of all destruction and all deception.
-
When you set your mind on earthly things, right, this world, this earth, it's fickle.
-
We ain't gonna be here for, we're just passing through.
-
And so here to be an, it says I didn't say it, the word says it to be an enemy of the cross is to have your mind set on earthly things.
-
So who in here wants to be an enemy of the cross?
-
I don't.
-
And so why do we set our mind on earthly things?
-
So we have to make sure our mind doesn't get there, right.
-
Amen, it's up to us.
-
God gave.
-
We're not robots.
-
God gave.
-
We have dominion, we have power, we're overcomers.
-
It's up to you.
-
You can choose.
-
Choose this day, life or death, blessing or curse.
-
So God gave us the power, and so we can choose it.
-
We can either be an enemy of the cross or not, and I choose not to, and so that stood out to me.
-
So, philippians four.
-
Let's start with verse.
-
Well, actually I'll read it in the amplified verse six Philippians four, six.
-
It's written like a command.
-
Yeah, do not fret or have any anxiety about anything.
-
And anxious, I put it, just means to be troubled or to take thought.
-
So do not fret or have anxiety about anything, but in every circumstance and in everything, by prayer and petition, definite requests, with Thanksgiving, continue to make your wants known to God and God's peace.
-
So if you do that, if you don't fret right or have anxiety about anything in life, no matter what may come, no matter what storms may come, then God's peace shall be yours.
-
Everybody say it shall be mine.
-
It shall be mine.
-
Amen.
-
That tranquil state of a soul, assured of its salvation through Christ and so fearing nothing from God and being content with its earthly lot, of whatever sort that is, that peace, which transcends all understanding, shall garrison and mount a guard over your hearts and minds.
-
In Christ Jesus.
-
That was one of the scriptures that would read, you know, to Jay, during the night.
-
No, the peace that passes all understanding, not this peace at the world, because that's not true peace.
-
It's the peace that comes from God.
-
It will guard your heart and your mind, even at night.
-
At night especially, you know, when we're going through things.
-
The peace of God shall guard his heart and his mind.
-
Real quick before you read verse eight, can I just say that you know worry asks questions that shouldn't be asked.
-
That's really what worry is.
-
When you're worrying over and over, you've picked up a thought and you're turning it around and around and around like a record player and it's playing over and it's really just questions that should never be asked and fear.
-
Every time that happens, fear is gonna answer those thoughts and that fear really quickly can turn into anxiety.
-
Before you know it You're off in another world.
-
You really are, and I think Pastor Mark preaches a whole message on.
-
You've got 90 seconds.
-
You've got like chemically in your brain.
-
You've got 90 seconds to decide to change that thought or you're just gonna keep going and keep going.
-
So it doesn't take long for your brain to pick up an idea and start spinning it out of control.
-
And you can't just empty your mind.
-
You have to replace those thoughts.
-
It's kind of like a weed in the garden.
-
You ever have weeds.
-
I hate weeds, right?
-
They're just always constantly coming up and it's like if you don't plant something, that weed's gonna come back up.
-
So it's the same with the thought.
-
You can't just like I'm not gonna think about that.
-
No, you have to replace it with something with the word of God, because that's what's gonna produce.
-
Amen.
-
And I wrote down here, which goes with what Jay's saying you don't meditate on what you don't understand.
-
And really what he's talking about is the reasoning realm, your reasoning.
-
I, like the wise, forget about the wise and just move forward, right?
-
Oh, why didn't they say sorry?
-
Forget about the.
-
You didn't get a sorry, or you didn't get a whatever, move forward, right?
-
You ain't ever gonna get it doesn't matter, you keep on going forward, it doesn't?
-
You're not defined by what people say or what people don't say, or what they do or they don't do.
-
Your God has a plan for your life, and so you just.
-
We stick with that.
-
Amen.
-
We don't go by our feelings.
-
We go by our feelings.
-
The Holy Spirit in us.
-
Holy Spirit, the feelings, yeah.
-
So verse eight, the apostle Paul tells, gives you bookends of exactly what your mind should think about.
-
Right, and we've read it over and over and over again.
-
But here it is again.
-
Verse eight and then they amplify.
-
For the rest, brethren, whatever is true, whatever is worthy of reverence and is honorable and seemly, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely and lovable, whatever is kind, winsome and gracious, if there is any virtue and excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, god is worthy of our praise amen, it's a good place to start right there.
-
If there is anything worthy of praise.
-
Thank on, weigh on and take account of these things, fix your minds on them, amen, amen.
-
And so that's so good.
-
So, all of these things like, hey, what do I think?
-
No, whatever is true is what is your thought?
-
Is it true?
-
Is it lovely?
-
Is it pure?
-
You know so?
-
God's given us here a prescription of what to do when thoughts come our way.
-
Here's a checklist, right, kind of like, we have a checklist throughout the day.
-
It's got to do this.
-
This is well.
-
Here's your checklist.
-
This is a must.
-
This is a foundation of your life, your thought, because the battle, the battleground, is in the mind, right, and so you have to make sure, daily, that that is what we are focusing and thinking about, no matter what may come our way.
-
Amen, that's what's gonna keep us.
-
And you're, it's so.
-
It's so important to have purity of thought because God does use your mind.
-
He gave us a brain.
-
You know our mind and our will and our emotions and our intellect on purpose.
-
You know part of what Avery Jackson was talking to me about because he kind of knows my personality.
-
He was encouraging me how the engineering side of my brain and how God uses that to, when I am asleep, to engineer problems, like God's helping me, and he basically nailed the head, you know, hit the nail on the head, like he's like, do you wake up?
-
And I, just, immediately, when I wake up, I'll have answers, I will, you know, or I'll get in the shower and God will begin to reveal things.
-
And just, you know, you're Derek, you're shaking your head because you, you think the same way.
-
I mean God gave you a brain on purpose that he's always revealing things, but for me it's not at midnight, you know, like Selena's the one that can stay up all night with the kids on youth trips and you know, but I get to a certain time and that is where that is not me but man.
-
I'm an early bird, I'm, you know, and God reveals things.
-
So we want, you do want purity of thought.
-
You want your thoughts to be pure.
-
You want your mind to be on the heavenly things, on the will of God and the plan of God.
-
You know you can be heavenly minded and so, and not be so heavenly minded that you're not any earthly good, like there is a balance, but our hearts and mind are full of peace and it's through the power of God.
-
Right, and so you know what?
-
What scripture has my dad been saying about?
-
I am not ashamed of the power of the gospel.
-
Yeah, Romans one.
-
Yeah, and so this is 2023, the year of power, and I'm telling you, god's power is evident in our lives.
-
It needs to be in every area of our life, and so, if Paul was saying it that way, I'm not ashamed of the gospel.
-
There might be some things, that some levels of power that you're tempted to be ashamed of.
-
You know what I mean.
-
Like it just it might get a little wild and crazy around here, and I'm telling you, selena and I are hooked up.
-
You know, james and Claire as well, and our entire staff were behind our pastor, were behind this vision and were behind the move of the spirit, and I'm telling you, we refuse to worry, we refuse to doubt and allow our brains to ask questions that are filled with worry and filled with doubt, and that I'm telling you, a worried mind is a broken mind, and we don't want a broken mind.
-
God needs your mind to be full of His word.
-
That's how we recall things.
-
I mean your spirit is full of His word too, but you know what I mean Like it comes through your mind to come out of your mouth, right?
-
That's good.
-
So I wrote down here peace is the result of meditating on God and His way of doing things, and so sometimes we get our way.
-
You know we want our way of doing things.
-
No, peace is the result of cause.
-
You can be busy, busy, busy and then have no pee Like, oh, I'm doing some good things, no, but do you have peace?
-
God wants us to have peace, but it's only doing it His way and that's true peace.
-
Amen, amen.
-
When we're filled up with the Holy spirit and we're praying much in other tongues, you know, and digging into the word, that's where true peace comes from.
-
Amen, amen.
-
Thank you.
