  1. I want to begin by asking you a question as we enter into this

  2. book, Leviticus perhaps, you've asked this question and maybe

  3. one day as we walk out in this life and Jesus called us to make

  4. disciples of all Nations and to baptize them in the name of the

  5. father, Son and the Holy Spirit, not just baptize people, but to

  6. teach them everything, I've taught you.

  7. That's what Jesus said. He didn't say that to pastors,

  8. he didn't say that. Evangelist.

  9. He said that to every person that is a disciple of his that

  10. they were called to baptize people.

  11. And they were called to teach those that they have led to

  12. Christ or those that I know that are new in Christ, teach them

  13. everything that you've been taught and perhaps one day

  14. perhaps you know somebody or one day you will who will come to

  15. Christ or who is new in Christ. And as you've been taught that,

  16. if you want to grow, you are as real as you are concerning your

  17. quiet time with God, and meeting with him in prayer, meeting with

  18. him, in the word of God, you tell that to that person and

  19. they start in This then they come to Exodus, perhaps.

  20. They should have started in the New Testament, but they come to

  21. this book called Leviticus and they read through Leviticus and

  22. you get a phone call. And this person says to you

  23. brother, so-and-so sister. So and so I'm in this book

  24. called Leviticus and I've read through it.

  25. And I have a question for you. What should i as a Christian

  26. take out of this book? Because I see a lot of

  27. sacrifices and from what I understand up to this point

  28. we're not called to make any sacrifices and I see a lot of

  29. rituals and cleansing rules and I know that we're not called to

  30. do that either. And I see these Feast but I

  31. don't think from what I know that we're supposed to

  32. necessarily keep these Feast, but I believe the Bible is the

  33. word of God and I believe God put this Book in this big book,

  34. this Library called the Bible, what do I do with the Book of

  35. Leviticus and you're on the other end of that line?

  36. How do you answer? How do you answer?

  37. What do you tell that person how they can benefit from The Book

  38. of Leviticus? And one way you can answer is

  39. how you've benefited from The Book of Leviticus.

  40. Sacrifice of Jesus. And so, remember the cross and

  41. our lord Jesus, who died. Well, this is sort of showing us

  42. what the Jews because God used to do.

  43. They had to kill animals sacrificing and all this bloody

  44. process, which is looking forward to when our savior would

  45. die bloody death. So look at it as sort of a

  46. picture or a rat. Yeah, picture of what what does

  47. matter most to us. So I'm hearing you brother Tim

  48. on the phone. Oh, that makes sense.

  49. Okay, I never saw The Vedic is that way.

  50. Yes, sacrifice must be Bloodshed God uses that.

  51. Okay, so the idea of Bloodshed, the idea of atonement, the theme

  52. of atonement in The Book of Leviticus, okay?

  53. I didn't see that theme but now I see it.

  54. Thank you, brother, Isaac. Anybody else?

  55. The Holiness of God, if you're going to understand the Holiness

  56. of God in any book, it's going to be Leviticus.

  57. It's going to be Leviticus. Is there anything else I can

  58. benefit from Leviticus? The seriousness of sin in light

  59. of the Holiness of God, absolutely.

  60. Yes, so we're going to, we're going to know something about

  61. the character, the attributes of God.

  62. If there's one question you can ask yourself concerning any book

  63. that you tackle, in your personal time, ask yourself

  64. this. What is this reveal about God?

  65. What am I going to learn about God through this book?

  66. Even through all the laws and throw all the, what is it saying

  67. about who God is sure. Absolutely.

  68. Anything else from Leviticus? Why ask yourself how have you

  69. benefit from Leviticus? So we see the idea of

  70. unintentional sin, and there's a sacrifice for that.

  71. And so there's specific their specifics about which kind of

  72. sins are dealt with, in a certain way, in which are not.

  73. Yes, we're going to discover that.

  74. Book of Leviticus. Anything else from Leviticus?

  75. Well, we just concluded Exodus and from Exodus major part of

  76. this book. The second part rather is that

  77. God had given instructions to the people of God of where, they

  78. were to worship where they were to worship.

  79. He had given them the blueprint for the Tabernacle.

  80. And this was the localized place in which they would meet with

  81. God, where they were to worship. But the Book of Leviticus deals

  82. with not where they are to worship, but how they are to

  83. worship. And even if you remember from

  84. Exodus chapter 40, in the last scene that we see the last

    Exodus 40 chapter mention

  85. snapshot we get of that book is what from, from memory, what did

  86. we see last? Exodus before it closed.

  87. The glory of God filled the Tabernacle.

  88. The glory of God had descended and manifested in such power

  89. that Moses could not even enter into the tent.

  90. And it was a manifestation, a symbolic representation of God's

  91. approval and response to The Obedience of the people

  92. according to his rules and what Leviticus deals with is this one

  93. purpose? Do you want it to stay that way?

  94. Do you want the glory of God to remain in your life?

  95. Do you want my leading to be so real?

  96. Do you want my fellowship to be so tangible?

  97. And knowing human nature. What Leviticus deals with is?

  98. God already knows that. They're going to send God

  99. already knows that they're going to fall.

  100. And so he institute's these prescriptions to the people of

  101. God in order for them to know how to maintain fellowship with

  102. the Lord. That is what Leviticus is

  103. dealing with number one, how the people of God can relate to

  104. their God, that makes sense. All these laws, all these

  105. prescriptions relate to how the people can come to a place where

  106. they And walk with him day by day, step by step.

  107. And if there's a verse that can confirm that, it's Leviticus 11.

  108. The Lord Called Moses and spoke to him from the tent of meeting.

  109. So, it ended with the glory of God.

  110. Manifesting and from that place, God speaks and he says, this is

  111. how this thing is going to work out if you want my glory and you

  112. want close proximity with me. Let's lay out some ground rules

  113. and that's how you get the Book of Leviticus and it all has to

  114. do with every sacrifice. Every ritual cleansing, every

  115. role for the Priest deals with one purpose, brothers and

  116. sisters. What the people of God were to

  117. do to not drive him from the sanctuary.

  118. So Leviticus deals with one how the people were to relate to

  119. their God, but not just how to relate, but how the people of

  120. God were to represent. Their God.

  121. Not just relate, but how they were to represent their God.

  122. And so there is a Holiness code that is granted in The Book of

  123. Leviticus. And this is what we see more in

  124. the latter part of this book. That God gives these detailed

  125. instructions of how they, the people of Israel were to fulfill

  126. their call. What was their call?

  127. Was the call for the people of Israel as a nation to the world

  128. is anybody know? To be a kingdom of priests and a

  129. holy nation. Exodus 19:6 sounds familiar

    Exodus 19:6

  130. people of God. We just get a little bit more,

  131. were a royal priesthood, not just a priesthood. and so, in

  132. order for them to fulfill that call to be what A holy nation.

  133. And a kingdom of priests. They had to walk according to

  134. this rule. Why?

  135. Because they're still in the wilderness and God is preparing

  136. them. What is God preparing them for

  137. it to go into the land of Canaan?

  138. And what was going to happen, when they come into the land of

  139. Canaan, they're going to have some neighbors and they're not

  140. the best neighbors. They're gonna have Pagan

  141. neighbors, they're going to have neighbors that worship different

  142. gods and have different practices and approach, God in a

  143. different way. In a way in God, did not

  144. describe and prescribed. And so the people needed to

  145. maintain a way of seeking God and representing God in the

  146. midst of all the darkness, that would be around the Not only

  147. that, but the people of Israel were delivered from growing up

  148. in a system called Egypt for hundreds of years and so they

  149. themselves have seen throughout their lives, the way that the

  150. Egyptians worship their gods and how they live their lives and

  151. you know what God was trying to Do Not only was God purposely

  152. taking them out of Egypt and he did, God was trying to get Egypt

  153. out of them. It's not just about taking them

  154. out of the world's, getting the world out of them, getting Egypt

  155. and draining it out. And so, he gives these laws and

  156. he gives these detailed instructions.

  157. So that when people were to see them, they would say, surely

  158. this is a kingdom of priests. Surely they represent the true

  159. God, why? Because I can see it, you're

  160. different. On the phone, this cycle of

  161. worshipping, false gods. And it gets crazy, you know how

  162. the book works and the Old Testament and this can be

  163. confirmed in Leviticus 11 44, ye shall be what Holy, as I am.

  164. Holy So, let me take his deals with two things right off the

  165. bat. Number one, it deals with how

  166. the people of God were to relate to God.

  167. But not just how to relate to God but how to represent, God.

  168. So already as New Covenant, Believers.

  169. We have to deal with the same thing.

  170. We are called to relate to God in a certain way, and we are

  171. called to represent God in a certain way, but notice how The

  172. Book of Leviticus is structured. Leviticus was not given before

  173. Exodus. It was given after Exodus, why

  174. is that important? Because behavioral modification

  175. is not something God gives you and me before, he takes us out

  176. of Egypt. He deals with us after we come

  177. out of Egypt. So he doesn't give these do's

  178. and don'ts in these lists of how you should live in order for you

  179. to cross the Red Sea. You crossed the Red Sea by my

  180. grace now living this way sleep, in a structure of the book, and

  181. the cannon itself. Describes how we should position

  182. this understanding of how we live in response to his Mercy.

  183. So let's look at the structure, take Leviticus.

  184. Now, take those pages. Something that you can do with a

  185. phone. Take those pages And look at the

  186. structure of the book, the first seven chapters, the first seven

  187. chapters deal with the offerings, that the people and

  188. the priest. Where to be faithful to the

  189. first. Seven chapters deal with the

  190. offerings required of both the laity and the leaders.

  191. Chapter 8, in chapter 10 deal with the ordination of the

  192. priesthood. So Aaron and his sons are

  193. ordained in chapter 18, chapter 10.

  194. We look at chapter 11 to 16 and there are various prescriptions

  195. for various types of uncleanness.

  196. And so, you look at 12, 16 and includes the day of atonement of

  197. what the people were to do. If they fall in any state of

  198. being unclean and from 17 to 27, we are offered here, a code of

  199. Holiness for daily living. So 127 deals with the sacrifices

  200. for the laity and the priesthood eight to ten deals with the

  201. ordination of the priesthood. And something happens there in

  202. chapter 10. 11 to 16 deals with the different prescriptions to

  203. deal with sickness and discharge mint of bodily, fluids and all

  204. these different things, I will get into together.

  205. And in, from 17, to 27, we deal with a Holiness code for daily

  206. living. So then some of you guys have

  207. already mentioned this, but we now have to understand the

  208. themes of this book. If you haven't noticed, we're

  209. talking overview right now. Overview of The Book of

  210. Leviticus, the themes of this book, and some of you already

  211. said these things, but one of the themes that we cannot denies

  212. the Holiness of God, and the call to Holiness of, man.

  213. So holiness, Leviticus deals with Holiness and what way?

  214. Number one, the Holiness of God, God is not a man, like, you and

  215. me. Meaning what we cannot approach?

  216. God, the way you and I approach one, another so freely.

  217. If there is a specific way that you are to approach, a judge and

  218. a local sense. If there is a specific protocol

  219. that you have to follow if you want to meet with a government

  220. official. And if you need to receive an

  221. invitation to meet with the president, how much more, The

  222. God Who made everything with his word.

  223. You can't approach God, the way you want.

  224. I can approach God, that we won. That's what Leviticus deals

  225. with. You can't just Waltz into my

  226. presence and two priests actually thought that they could

  227. do that. So, casually and God says, I

  228. don't care whose son you are, and I don't care.

  229. What kind of office you. By Holiness of God.

  230. The Holiness of God and not just that the call of Holiness to man

  231. that God is concerned in Leviticus.

  232. And this is a Timeless truth through the sermon in this book.

  233. That we, as the people of God, are called to reflect the very

  234. one we worship. And this is what the people of

  235. Israel had to understand. That they were to represent him

  236. and they were not to determine their way of worshiping, God or

  237. representing God, the way they knew and their presuppositions

  238. in the past in Egypt. No, no.

  239. Doesn't matter how you grew up and what you're comfortable with

  240. or what your idea of God Is by nor were they to change the way

  241. they see God or change the way they relate to God in the future

  242. around the cultures, that would be developing and changing.

  243. No, no, I've given you the instructions for all time.

  244. So the way we worship God, that's the second understanding.

  245. We're going to figure out something about worship.

  246. Listen to Leviticus 18, just for a second.

  247. Just listen, Leviticus 18, 3. You shall not do as they do in

  248. the land of Egypt, where you lived past tense, and you shall

  249. not do as they do in the land of Canaan to, which I am bringing

  250. you future sense. So, no matter what you grew up

  251. with, no matter what you're comfortable with, no matter

  252. what, maybe even a spiritual leader told you if it's not

  253. according to the word of God. You dismiss it doesn't matter

  254. what the culture says it doesn't matter what the majority are

  255. doing in the concerning, their worship service and how they

  256. relate to God and what they do for with the word of God.

  257. We stick with what he is given us worship.

  258. So there's a prescription for worship, there's an

  259. understanding of his Holiness and listen.

  260. The Book of Leviticus is not a way for God to flex his

  261. Transcendence and say look how awesome I his nature demands

  262. these things. So God is not giving out these

  263. laws and these things just because he wants to show our

  264. holy is and just say this is how awesome I am.

  265. And this is what you have to jump through all these hoops.

  266. Just because I decide know his nature demands it.

  267. The very Holiness of God the man's the very things that we

  268. will read about. And so when you read those

  269. things and sometimes your mind goes off to different places.

  270. Realize this, this is how sacred he is.

  271. That even if a fluid from my body is discharged from me.

  272. I got to step outside of the camp for several days just to be

  273. in the very courts of God. We've lost here me very

  274. carefully. We have lost in the church

  275. today, and I say this with fear and Chumlee, more than anything.

  276. If there's any doctrine that we've dismissed and pushed in

  277. the background, is the Holiness of God.

  278. And part of that reason to is because many of us have divided

  279. this understanding that God just has these moods and he's in a

  280. bad mood in the Old Testament and New Testament.

  281. He's in a really good mood and he's staying in that mood

  282. forever. It's the same God.

  283. The same God and guess what? He's the same.

  284. God that requires the very same Holiness and what's the

  285. difference? Well, in the Old Testament, he

  286. had a different code and the New Testament.

  287. Same Holiness, same demand, different code.

  288. Different code. So he's not flexing his

  289. Transcendence. He's not saying look how asked

  290. know his nature demands it because that's glorious as his

  291. Holiness has, it's also dangerous especially when it

  292. comes to the contact with corruption.

  293. With the Book of Leviticus, take our breath away and not put us

  294. to sleep. That we would realize his

  295. majesty and Splendor themes. The Holiness of God to worship

  296. worship. This book deals with how the

  297. people were to worship and how we to some degree need to

  298. worship. God 3, somebody had said it more

  299. than once, there's a theme of atonement.

  300. The theme of atonement. We cannot look at Leviticus as

  301. just a singular book. We must understand this book in

  302. the larger scale of The Narrative of the scriptures and

  303. what Leviticus does to the history of the people of God

  304. concerning us as well up to this point, concerning his Remnant.

  305. They are going to quickly come to an awareness of their need of

  306. a substitute Because of their lack of ability to be able to

  307. maintain God's law and their own strength.

  308. So every time a sacrifice has instituted.

  309. What God had desired to do is make them realize their need for

  310. a substitute. Holiness worship.

  311. Atonement. So I get the themes.

  312. Here's the final part of our overview.

  313. What does have to do with me? As a New Covenant, believer?

  314. I get those themes and that can cause me to worship but what can

  315. I take out of Leviticus and sense of application?

  316. I need three people to give me three verses.

  317. I need one person to open up to Luke 24:44.

    Luke 24:44

  318. Luke 24:44 one person to Luke 24:44 another person to go to

    Luke 24:44 Luke 24:44

  319. First Peter 114, First Peter 1, 14 to 16 and a third person to

  320. go to Roman's 12:1. First person, Luke 24:44 Second

    Luke 24:44

  321. person, First Peter 1, 14 to 16, third person to go to Roman's

  322. 12:1. Whoever is that Luke 24:44 could

    Luke 24:44

  323. you read it out loud, please. Who will win the race?

  324. Then he being Jesus said concerning him, that all

  325. that was written about me. Where what was the first thing?

  326. The law of Moses. So this is what you and I can

  327. anticipate as we go through The Vedic has, I am going to learn

  328. something about Number one, as I go through the video Kiss, I'm

  329. going to learn something because Jesus, himself said that out of

  330. the law, if it gets any more law.

  331. It's this this is how this is like Pinnacle of law right here

  332. in the middle kiss. I'm going to see Christ

  333. somewhere in this book more than once, because he says it points

  334. to me, it points to me who's at First Peter 1, 14. 1st Peter 1,

  335. 14 to 16. So, PD and children without you

  336. can form the Pasta Bolognese but as he who called you is Holy and

  337. also be holding all your condom. It is written, you shall be holy

  338. for. I am Holy.

  339. So, Peter found some use in Leviticus He's speaking to New

  340. Covenant Believers and he says listen as obedient children.

  341. I want you to live. Holy as he is Holy and guess

  342. where he's pulling that verse out of Leviticus 11.

  343. So Peter could find some use inspired by the Holy Spirit.

  344. Shirley and this is what you'll learn from The Book of

  345. Leviticus. We will learn together you and I

  346. will learn principles of Holiness notice.

  347. I didn't say practices for Holiness principles for Holiness

  348. is a big difference because if you're going to go into

  349. laviticus and say okay if this is what it means to be holy I'm

  350. going to live. Holy you're going to change your

  351. closet. You're going to change the way

  352. you farm. You're going to change the way

  353. you come to church big time and you're not in that Covenant.

  354. We're not in that Covenant. But the principles remain the

  355. same. That's what Peter is getting at.

  356. And there are even spiritual principles within even those

  357. physical commands of outward Holiness, Romans 12:1, This is a

    Romans 12:1

  358. people are cheating with this. We need to do something about

  359. that. Romans 12:1, the reason why I

    Romans 12:1

  360. always asked to look and we want to look in the Bible together so

  361. that you can map it out in the scriptures, Romans 12:1, Romans

    Romans 12:1 Romans 12:1

  362. 12:1. You guys can do it in the same

  363. time. If you want, go ahead and can go

  364. ahead. I feel to you therefore Brothers

  365. by the mercies of God, to present your bodies as a Living

  366. Sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God, which is your spiritual

  367. Paul is using Old Testament language too.

  368. Admonish New Covenant. Believers concerning.

  369. What true worship is and he says I want your bodies and look what

  370. he does. Use his Old Testament language

  371. as a Living Sacrifice. So we're going to learn

  372. something about spiritual worship.

  373. In Leviticus. So we come to Leviticus chapter

  374. one. Leviticus one, as we spoke of

  375. Leviticus, 23, 45 even 26. And spilling over, even 27.

  376. Deal with these types of sacrifices and offerings, does

  377. anybody know some of them at the top of their head?

  378. the offerings that the people were to give Grain offering.

  379. Yes. What else?

  380. Burn offering. Yes.

  381. You have one. Yeah, yeah.

  382. So within those offerings are different types of animals.

  383. They can give. Yes, peace, offerings.

  384. Guilt offering sin offerings. There are mainly five offerings

  385. that were we're going to deal with in the beginning here.

  386. And these offerings. Have a specific purpose though,

  387. they are. So alike.

  388. There is a unique fulfillment, that they, they have concerning

  389. how they worship God, and how they relate to God, and what it

  390. satisfies concerning God's standard for righteousness.

  391. And Holiness. And there's a prophetic element

  392. to each of these offerings concerning who the person that

  393. we just sang to tonight, concerning Jesus, and not just

  394. Jesus. And what he has fulfilled

  395. because all these sacrifices again, deal with a certain

  396. detail about how they were to be cleanse, or how they were to

  397. give themselves over to God and Christ sacrifice.

  398. His one sacrifice deals with everything.

  399. Only one sacrifice, not multiple sacrifices but these things

  400. Christ has fulfilled. He's covered at all and is Own

  401. sacrifice. And not only that each of these

  402. offerings that we're going to discover are going to show us

  403. something about what worship looks like to God, and what he

  404. desires not in copy paste, we don't have an altar.

  405. We don't have to throw grain. We don't have to roast animals.

  406. No. But there are principles there

  407. and let it the New Covenant, as a Living Sacrifice.

  408. And so, the first one, we're going to deal with chapter one,

  409. burnt offering. So look at chapter 1 quickly.

  410. I'm just going to read these verses and see what comes to

  411. mind. Verse 3.

  412. If his offering is a burnt offering from the herd, he shall

  413. offer a male without blemish. Go to verse 10.

  414. If his gift for a burnt offering is from the flock from the sheep

  415. or goats, he shall bring a male without blemish.

  416. Go to verse 14. If his offering to the Lord is a

  417. burnt offering of birds, then he shall bring his offering of

  418. turtledoves or pigeons. One offering.

  419. Different ways of giving it. What is God showing about

  420. himself and doing this? Now, look at verse 4.

  421. What is the purpose of this offering?

  422. Look at verse 4. He shall lay on his hand on her

  423. head of the burnt offering and he shall be accepted from to

  424. make atonement for him. So this sacrifice has to deal

  425. with atoning for sin, but there are various ways of doing it

  426. within the heading of burnt offering.

  427. And the question is, what is God revealing even in saying, if you

  428. can't do it this way, you can do it this way.

  429. If you can't do it this way, you can do it this way.

  430. He's getting you off yet. So he is giving options.

  431. Absolutely, but with what in mind, why is he giving options?

  432. That's exactly right because the people, some people could not

  433. afford to bring a bull or to bring a sheep or to bring a go.

  434. And so, you know what he has in mind though?

  435. God wants all people to be able to receive atonement.

  436. He doesn't want to hold a tone from anyone.

  437. And so with God's heart, he goes.

  438. Listen, if you can't afford this, look at his heart here and

  439. Leviticus. If you can't afford a bull, you

  440. can bring your ship. If you can't even bring a sheep,

  441. you can bring something as small as a bird.

  442. And that bird is so tiny. They can't even you can't even

  443. cut it up and do it the way you could with a sheep or a goat,

  444. but this is God's heart behind this very offering.

  445. I long to Grant atonement to all people.

  446. I am not selectively. Look at the prophetic imagery.

  447. Here, I am. Not selective in my salvation.

  448. I'm not looking to a certain group or status in society and

  449. saying here, I'm going to give this to you.

  450. I'm going to make these holes easier for you to hoop through.

  451. No, no, I'm gonna give this to all people.

  452. I'm going to make salvation reachable for all people in the

  453. scene, playing field. I'm not restricting.

  454. This, I'm not making this difficult for whether you're

  455. poor, you can be a bum or brilliant billionaire.

  456. Atonement is available to you. And look at how important it is

  457. to understand some of these details, and Leviticus.

  458. And the old Covenant turn your Bibles to Luke to 24, when Mary

  459. wants to come and bring baby Jesus.

  460. For a ceremonial offering concerning her son.

  461. And look what it reveals here. And Luke 224, and to offer a

  462. sacrifice. According to what is said, in

  463. the law of the Lord, this is Mary and her husband going now,

  464. a pair of turtledoves or two young pigeons You know what that

  465. shows about Mary and Joseph as parents, what they weren't Rich,

  466. they didn't have the money to give a bowler to give a gold or

  467. to give a sheep. And this is who the god of the

  468. universe chose to be born under. He didn't give himself over to

  469. Herod and to be born in a palace.

  470. He didn't give himself to some Pharisee.

  471. No, he came under a young lady and her husband who could not

  472. even afford The maximum ability to worship and I love this image

  473. that they're going with these birds and at the same time

  474. they're bringing the child. Who's going to actually being

  475. sacrificed for all men for all the time.

  476. God desires to have all people reach atonement.

  477. God is Not restricting it to a certain brand of people to a

  478. certain group of people know. God wants all people to come to

  479. the foot of the cross. I love the scripture.

  480. When Paul preaches in Acts 17 bear, with me acts 17:24 228,

    Acts 17:24

  481. acts 17 24 to 28. The God Who made the world.

  482. And everything in it. Being Lord of Heaven and Earth.

  483. Does not live in temples made by man.

  484. Nor is he served by human hands as though he needed anything for

  485. he himself? Gives to all mankind, life,

  486. breath and everything. And he made from one man every

  487. nation of all mankind to live in all of the face of the Earth.

  488. Having determined a lot of periods.

  489. And the boundaries of their dwelling place for what reason,

  490. why did God allow people to live on the places of the world in

  491. different countries and different boundaries at

  492. different times? Y, what reason verse 27, that

  493. they should seek God, that they should seek God and perhaps feel

  494. their way toward him and find him.

  495. It is actually not far from each one of us.

  496. I love that first. It is actually not far from each

  497. one of us. Why?

  498. For in him we live and move and have our being The omnipresence

  499. of God makes it accessible for whether you live in the jungles

  500. and Africa. Are you live in a high-rise in

  501. New York? That every person has the same

  502. ability to call out to God and reach out to him.

  503. He made himself reachable. He's not far from each one of

  504. us. If you don't know Christ today,

  505. you can get shaved in this living.

  506. You don't have to go through some religious Hoops, you don't

  507. have to wait for a certain time. You don't have to be in the

  508. right sacred place. So, how does a person for for

  509. wherever they live or whatever time there?

  510. And how does a person reached? Didn't come to God.

  511. Well, acts 17:30 the times of ignorance God, overlooked.

    Acts 17:30

  512. But now he commands all people everywhere, all people

  513. everywhere to do. What?

  514. Repent. Repent.

  515. Free is fixing a day in which he will judge the world in

  516. righteousness, by men, whom he has appointed.

  517. He has given a sure enough this to all men by raising him from

  518. the dead. Don't Preach repentance.

  519. All the apostles did. He commands all people

  520. everywhere to repent. That's how you come to the

  521. knowledge of God repented faith in him.

  522. And so we see from the sacrifices that God's heart is

  523. that all people would be able to reach atonement.

  524. What else do we see from these sacrifices?

  525. There's a common theme amongst though.

  526. They were bowls and though they were goats and though they were

  527. turtle doves. They had one thing in common

  528. though, they're kind was not the same.

  529. Perfect, without blemish. Without blemish.

  530. Now, focus on the first part focus on the heard the male bull

  531. here that they were to be without blemish and not only

  532. without blemish. You look here in verse 9.

  533. The see here that the priest shall burn.

  534. All of it on the altar. So we see that, even before

  535. that, not rule number one without blemish without spot

  536. without fault. God wants the best, right?

  537. But then they were to take this bull if the animal was big

  538. enough to cut it up into pieces and as they cut it up into

  539. pieces, it says there in verse 9 that they were to take all of it

  540. and put it on the altar. And Christ is the ultimate

  541. sacrifice and we know that he was without fault without

  542. blemish but not just in a general sense.

  543. Think of it because he took on flesh, that in every part

  544. concerning who he was in his Humanity in every part, it

  545. proved to be acceptable to God on Calvary.

  546. Do you know what I mean? By that?

  547. I mean, they cut up that sacrifice into pieces and every

  548. piece had to be without spot or blemish, and have to be

  549. acceptable before God in such a way.

  550. But in Christ, the ultimate sacrifice.

  551. He proved to be the same. It says in First Peter 2:22,

    1 Peter 2:22

  552. what that in him was no sin and in him, there is no deceit,

  553. where his mouth. There is no deceit in his mouth.

  554. Peter used that to encourage the Believers not to retaliate with

  555. their lips and said Jesus was without sin and Jesus in his

  556. mouth, there was found no deceit.

  557. And I love that. That every part of Christ.

  558. Proved to be acceptable before God on Calvary.

  559. The same way that every part of that bull needed to be spotless

  560. and perfect to be acceptable before God.

  561. Which means something for you and me.

  562. That because of Christ on Calvary and every part of who he

  563. was even in his physical suffering.

  564. Prove to be acceptable before God.

  565. That means that every part of my life has proven to be made,

  566. perfect. And righteous before God as

  567. well. Think about his physical

  568. suffering. Think about every part of his

  569. physical suffering and how it deals with every part that you

  570. and I every instrument of our body that we've used to rebel

  571. against God. And so as one missionary said

  572. our minds, they were hostile towards God.

  573. They love to meditate on the things that God hates.

  574. And so what is Christ? Do they put a thorny crown on

  575. his brow? His lips.

  576. His lips were dry parched thirsty.

  577. Your lips and mine spoke things that we should never have said,

  578. blaspheme God beyond measure and his lips on that cross suffered

  579. for your lips. And these hands, these hands

  580. have touched things, that they shouldn't have touched and taken

  581. things that they shouldn't have taken.

  582. But those hands We nailed on the cross.

  583. And your back and my back have continually turned against God

  584. and walked in her own Direction. Defiantly showing him that we

  585. will not walk, according to his ways.

  586. And so, he offers his back lashed beyond recognition. so in

  587. these feet, how they have wandered to places that they

  588. should not have gone, And how they have drifted away from the

  589. place in which they were supposed to be concerning the

  590. righteousness of God, and obedience to his word, but they

  591. did not. And so they were nailed.

  592. Nailed on the cross. Every part of that bull needed

  593. to be spotless on that altar. Every part of Christ was proven

  594. to be blameless on that cross dealing with every part of your

  595. members that were used to rebel against him.

  596. Which tells you and me something.

  597. Concerning our sacrifice, its complete.

  598. His sacrifice was made complete. Not for some of you, but for all

  599. of you All of you in all of me. Why do I say that?

  600. Because there are some things that we are convinced that Jesus

  601. can forgive us of, but there are some things, we are not

  602. convinced that he could have forgiven us from Oh yeah, I

  603. understand. I've lied with this live but you

  604. don't know what I've done with these hands man and I can't

  605. imagine crying no no. Every piece has been covered.

  606. All you don't know where my feet have gone.

  607. Yeah. I understand.

  608. He can forgive me for what I've allowed in here and you can,

  609. what I've allowed in here. But these feet.

  610. No, no, no. Every piece has been translated

  611. to you. Not some of you do you want to

  612. know what happened to your sins and mind Colossians 2 13 and 14

  613. and you who were dead in your trespasses and the

  614. uncircumcision of your flesh? God has made alive together with

  615. him. Having forgiven us not from some

  616. having forgiven us of all our transgressions.

  617. Doing what taking that record of debt.

  618. And laying it aside, right? With all its legal demands.

  619. What did he do with it? At the end of that verse?

  620. He laid it aside and he nailed it to the cross.

  621. That record of sin every single thing, all the transgression has

  622. been written and has been nailed on the cross.

  623. And, you know, what many Believers are doing, they're

  624. trying to pull it back down. Leave it there.

  625. He nailed it on the cross. Why are you trying to unhinge

  626. it? And if the devil would ever try

  627. to point any sin to you, make sure that you remind him where

  628. it's nailed. All you can point the records,

  629. me all you want Satan, but look at where it is, nailed on the

  630. cross, and I have no plans of taking it down, because it's

  631. dealt with stuff. Every piece was on the altar,

  632. every pre piece of Christ, proved to be acceptable and

  633. every part of who you are as made blameless because of what

  634. he's done. So we understand Christ.

  635. But there's something about worship.

  636. And the burnt offering, there's something about worship and this

  637. is where we're ending. If you can turn to Romans 12:1,

    Romans 12:1

  638. if you're familiar with the book of Romans, it's a powerful

  639. scripture. And Paul deals with so much from

  640. Romans 12, Romans 12. He deals with justification by

  641. faith. He deals with the glory of God.

  642. He deals with the inheritance of the Holy Spirit.

  643. He deals with how we can live in victory, over sin.

  644. He deals with God's plan for Israel and God's plan for the

  645. Gentiles. He deals with so much.

  646. All these weighty matters, all these theological truths and he

  647. comes to Roman's 12:1. And sometimes this is where

  648. divisions, in chapters can do us a disservice because it's one

  649. continuous thought he comes to Roman's 12:1.

  650. And he says, I appeal to you, therefore Brothers, by the

  651. mercies of God, to present your bodies as a Living Sacrifice,

  652. holy acceptable to God, which is your spiritual worship.

  653. It's as though to say, listen up to this point to what you have,

  654. read up to this point, to what, Heard concerning your salvation

  655. concerning your inheritance in Christ, concerning the future

  656. glories to come concerning God's sovereignty, over all Affairs in

  657. the world. After you have heard and read

  658. all these things. He climaxes here as he

  659. transitions his thoughts. And the Book of Romans to

  660. practical Christian Living. He says, I appeal I adjure, I

  661. beg you. In light of all that, you've

  662. heard present your bodies as a Living Sacrifice.

  663. All of those things next time you, and I read the book of

  664. Romans read it all up and let it build up to Roman's 12:1.

  665. Then when he comes up to this point, it's all there to say.

  666. Now do something with this. Let it cause you to live a life

  667. of Daley of Daley sacrifice. And this is what we have to

  668. understand concerning the Old Testament in this.

  669. Like the burnt offering, not just a part of you. but all of

  670. you could you imagine how ridiculous it would be if a

  671. person had come to bring a bull, cut it up into pieces and as

  672. he's contemplating a putting that entire sacrifice on the

  673. altar, he goes, you know, I'm going to keep the thigh Yeah,

  674. I'm I might use the feet so I'm going to keep the feet.

  675. And they could have done that, but you know what, it wouldn't

  676. have been acceptable before God. It wouldn't have been true

  677. worship. And so in the same way, he's not

  678. saying part of your body, pause, not saying some of your life,

  679. Paul's not saying a fraction of your existence.

  680. He's saying your whole body as a Living Sacrifice.

  681. As a Living Sacrifice. Seeing the Old Testament was

  682. about bringing a sacrifice in killing in a New Covenant, about

  683. you living it and you living as a sacrifice, not you killing

  684. something in the old Covenant, you would bring a sacrifice, you

  685. would lay your hands on it. Would it would be symbolic of

  686. your sins being transmitted onto that sacrifice and you killing

  687. it. You taking the life of another

  688. thing as a substitute of worship to God.

  689. You know what? God says, I don't want you to

  690. give a life of another. I want to get, I want you to

  691. give me your life. You could bring to me 5,000

  692. bulls and cut them up and bring them before an altar in the New

  693. Covenant and guess what, it wouldn't mean lick for God. he

  694. wants you and I to live as a sacrifice unto him daily and

  695. this is what we have to understand here.

  696. When you understand that burnt offering.

  697. And to give it completely and light of our worship, it's

  698. really easy to say, right? Perhaps, even now we could say

  699. who here has given everything to God.

  700. Sometimes we hear that and we go.

  701. Yeah, I'm pretty sure I've given everything to God as an act of

  702. worship to him. But it's a whole different

  703. thing. When you cut up your life piece

  704. by piece and examine it and say, have I really given this part to

  705. God, have I given this part to God?

  706. What about this aspect of my life?

  707. Is a surrender to God when you really analyze your life piece

  708. by piece and not just flippantly saying all I gave everything to

  709. God. Yes.

  710. And you really reflect It would be amazing to see how your heart

  711. feels that pull. When you realize, I don't know

  712. if this is fully surrendered yet.

  713. I don't know if this part of my life is really given to God cut

  714. your life into pieces tonight and ask yourself, is this part

  715. given to God, Is my sexuality given to God.

  716. Is my finances given to God is what I let into this mind given

  717. to God is white. I let out of this mouth given to

  718. God what are all any of these things restricted to myself to

  719. my own purposes to my own Glory? Have I convinced myself that

  720. I've put 3/4 of myself on that altar, but I've kept the peace

  721. to myself. The same way that the Old

  722. Testament required, all of it is the same way Christ requires all

  723. of us and until then it's not true worship.

  724. The same way, part of that sacrifice being reserved for

  725. self, would disqualify that burnt offering from being a

  726. pleasing Aroma to God. I wonder today in all humility

  727. and the fear of the Lord. Do I ask this question, how many

  728. Believers today are walking around thinking that their lives

  729. are really a sacrifice? When really it's not, because

  730. they themselves know within their hearts that they have not

  731. given every part what is it mean to give your life as a Living

  732. Sacrifice? Well, in the same book Romans

  733. 12, turn back to Roman's 6. Look at Romans 6:13 with me.

    Romans 6:13

  734. Romans 6:13. Do not present your members to

    Romans 6:13

  735. sin as instruments for unrighteousness, but present

  736. yourselves to God, as those who have been brought from Death to

  737. life and your members to God as instruments for righteousness.

  738. So this is what it means to dedicate my life piece by piece

  739. of the Lord. Simply ask this sobering

  740. question, is this element in instrument for righteousness, or

  741. for sin? Is this, is this member of my

  742. body given to the glory of God, or for the satisfaction of self

  743. if you and I can scan through our entire lives and say this

  744. part of my life, this member of my body is given to the glory of

  745. God and you can check it off. You know that your entire

  746. offering is legitimate. I remember hearing of a group of

  747. young men freshly saved that were pursuing God as a group of

  748. friends as a group of friends. If you have friends that love

  749. God, hold onto them very tight. They're hard to find in this

  750. day. Not the ones that call

  751. themselves Christians and talk about other trivial things in

  752. this life in. Don't care about the things of

  753. God and growing in Grace, once I really love God.

  754. This group of friends came to a place in which they were

  755. convicted they've surrendered to Christ.

  756. They've given their lives to Christ, but there is something

  757. in one person's heart and it was a confirmation for another

  758. brother's heart that he had realized that he had not

  759. surrendered, his trust in God for his future concerning his

  760. finances. And as there is sitting there

  761. together before service, he had openly confessed, I feel like

  762. the Lord has convicted me about about how I handle my money

  763. because before I came to Christ, I was always anxious and I love

  764. money and I was cheap and I cheated people.

  765. But now I'm in Christ and I feel like I still have a residue of

  766. that in me and I got his convicted me about it.

  767. I want to do something as a symbolic act.

  768. I don't know if you guys want to join me but let's do it if you

  769. want. And what they did is they got

  770. around in a circle and they all pulled out their wallets and

  771. they threw their wallets in the middle of that Circle.

  772. They locked arms together and they Rated saying Lord, we

  773. dedicate our wallets to you. We dedicate our future finances

  774. to you that whether you give us much or little, we will use

  775. these things as instruments for righteousness.

  776. That's what we're talking about. Examining the parts of your life

  777. that have not been given over to the lordship of Jesus Christ and

  778. all how freeing it is when you can really just sit down and do

  779. some inventory on your heart and you even if you tonight after

  780. this Bible study ask, God lord. Is there a part of me that's not

  781. on that altar? He will gladly show it to you

  782. not in condemnation. But in conviction if you ever

  783. feel convicted it's not about being condemned, always relate

  784. these. Two things whenever you feel

  785. that piercing of the holy spirit in your heart, always always

  786. remember this That whenever you sense conviction, it's God's

  787. invitation into something. Greater God doesn't convicted

  788. you so he can make you feel bad and let you for a couple of days

  789. feel. So dirty about yourself.

  790. God can fix you so that he can invite you into something

  791. greater So if you ask him, you'd be amazed how he said, you know,

  792. you've kind of left that part off the altar.

  793. So, what happens, look at verse 13 here, do not present your

  794. members to unrighteousness, but dedicate into instruments of

  795. righteousness. Now, come to verse 19 of Romans

  796. 6. I'm speaking in human terms

  797. because of your natural limitations for just as you were

  798. once presented your members as slaves to impurity and to

  799. lawlessness, leading to more lawlessness.

  800. So now present your members as slaves to righteousness, leading

  801. to sanctification. So, again, it's the same

  802. question, is there any part of my life?

  803. That's, that's a slave to impurities or any part of my

  804. life that is under the lordship of sin and self?

  805. If so God in Christ has given you the power to set that thing

  806. free to be dedicated to him and his purpose is leading to life

  807. in sanctification. And I love how Paul by the holy

  808. spirit is continuing in this train of thought because he

  809. comes to 13. He comes to 19, then he just

  810. gets real. Then he just gets in your face.

  811. Then he just says, you know, I'm just going to just be, let's

  812. just get real talk. Your look at verse 21.

  813. As though to convince them to put everything on the altar, he

  814. says. But what fruit were you getting

  815. at the time? From the things of which you are

  816. now ashamed? He said if you're not convinced

  817. if you're really not convinced to put it all on the altar, if

  818. you're really not committed dedicated every part of who you

  819. are to the glory of God and his righteousness, let me ask you

  820. this question. Whatever you're holding on to

  821. really ask yourself what fruit is a producing in your life.

  822. He's just. Hey guys I just want you to

  823. know. I really think about it, your

  824. sinful life, your life that is contrary to the glory of God and

  825. his standards. What is it actually producing?

  826. Ask yourself that. Have you ever asked yourself

  827. that before you were saved? Have you ever asked yourself

  828. that before you came to Christ? What am I doing?

  829. What is then goal of this? Where am I going?

  830. Why am I doing this every weekend?

  831. Why am I doing this with this person?

  832. What is it? And here's probably some

  833. possible answers. Well, it feels good.

  834. Well, it probably does feel good, but it doesn't last too

  835. long, even if it does feel good, Hebrews 11 tells us it's

  836. fleeting pleasure, sin offers pleasure.

  837. It does. We would all lat or else we

  838. wouldn't do it. We wouldn't be doing it.

  839. If it didn't feel good, but remember, it's fleeting.

  840. It's okay, feels good now. Ask yourself, what are the

  841. feelings that come after? When that high is gone.

  842. Shane guilt regret. Okay, so now you see the fruit

  843. of it, Paul says here in motivating, the people to lay it

  844. all on the altar, what fruit where you getting out of it and

  845. he answers it, at the end of 21, for the end of those things is

  846. death. There's no life.

  847. So how are we to give ourselves to this Living Sacrifice as a

  848. Living Sacrifice? We conclude legitimately when

  849. you go back to Leviticus, And you come not to chapter one, but

  850. you come to chapter 6, which gives further instructions for

  851. the burnt offering. Look what it says in Leviticus

  852. 69. Verse 8 will begin the Lord

  853. spoke to Moses saying, command Aaron.

  854. And his sons saying, this is the law of the burnt offering.

  855. The burnt offering shall be on the Hearth of the altar all

  856. night until morning and the fire of the altar, shall be kept

  857. burning on it. The burnt offering when it comes

  858. to the sacrifice on the altar, that fire is not going out and

  859. that sacrifice cannot come off until it is completely consumed

  860. by that fire. Because afterwards, they would

  861. take it down as Ash and remove it into the outside part of the

  862. camp. So, you know what that tells me

  863. about you and I concerning living sacrifices that God wants

  864. to consume us completely completely.

  865. Partly completely, totally consumed.

  866. You and me. And that fire does not go out.

  867. It's always burning. That's the standard.

  868. That's the aroma that Christ wants.

  869. So when you and I wake up, we go to bed tonight and you wake up

  870. in the morning, he wants you to wake up with the full knowledge,

  871. that you're a Living Sacrifice throughout the day, you and I

  872. are living sacrifices. When we go back to bed, we're

  873. still a Living. Sacrifice throughout the night.

  874. You're still a Living Sacrifice the next day, when you wake up

  875. again for church or a Living Sacrifice.

  876. When you go to school on Monday, you're still a living soccer.

  877. When you go to work, Living Sacrifice and you and I are

  878. walking throughout our day, as a pleasing Aroma to him.

  879. And it never goes on pause. It never goes on, pause that.

  880. Burnt offering was unending, and to obviously Christ comes into

  881. the scene, but that's the picture of worship for you.

  882. And me, which tells me something in light of Romans 12, what

  883. worship really is true spiritual worship.

  884. To God means nothing in song. If our lives are not yet laid on

  885. the altar, it's a legitimate, it doesn't qualify to God.

  886. Oh, but when a life is completely consumed in him like

  887. that burnt offering in Leviticus, there's an aroma to

  888. him. There's a sweet-smelling,

  889. sacrifice a savoring, and that's what God smells today in light

  890. of the New Covenant concerning. A person that does not shed

  891. their own blood for their God, like many other religions do God

  892. is not interested for you, spilling your own blood,

  893. spilling your own entrails, giving yourself over and you

  894. know what God is looking for a life that can say no to

  895. temptation. A life that can say yes to

  896. righteousness. Oh, this is the best part, A

  897. Life, a life that still Walks. With God.

  898. When everybody else wants to give three quarters of their

  899. sacrifice. Oh, that he would see a

  900. fragrance coming up in North America.

  901. When everybody else wants to just give pieces to God and keep

  902. some for yourself, that he would see a Remnant.

  903. He would see a group in which there is that sweet, smelling

  904. perfume that comes up to heaven. This is what God is looking for.

  905. That's true worship. That's true worship.

  906. So, we look at some people and we say, oh, that person worship.

  907. So powerfully that person worship.

  908. So passionately, and yes, there is an element of singing that is

  909. a sacrifice of praise, but it is disqualified.

  910. If it comes from a vessel that has not been completely reserved

  911. for the purposes in the glory of God.

  912. So what we look at it the with with our determination of what

  913. true spirituality looks like. God says that person when nobody

  914. sees him and is saying, no to temptation is living for Christ

  915. has always thinking in light of, how can God be glorified in my

  916. decisions? God says, that's worship.

  917. That's a song to my ear that no person can pitch.

  918. No person. Can sing behind a microphone.

  919. Oh, that's a sight to see greater than all these piles of

  920. bulls and goats that are shed. Oh yes.

  921. That's what God is looking for today.

  922. Christ is your burnt offering in mind, and every part of him,

  923. covers every part of you and me, and another light of our

  924. worship. He wants every part of us as a

  925. response to the grace of God. And if you're in sin tonight to

  926. any degree, if you are contemplating Holiness and this

  927. part giving of God, can I ask you one question in light of

  928. Paul's question to the Romans. What fruit are you getting out

  929. of it? What fruit is coming out of

  930. that, kind of life. Because if you're truly a

  931. Believer, even if you're living in compromise, you know it full

  932. well you're miserable, aren't you?

  933. You're miserable. You're miserable.

  934. And that true freedom and that true life comes when you know

  935. that every part has been stamped reserved for the glory of God.

  936. Some new people here tonight. Welcome.

  937. Do you know Jesus Christ? We didn't read something.

  938. We're closing here to worship at a moment.

  939. There was something about that burnt offering.

  940. See, this is something that happened in the Old Testament.

  941. It's a picture of what's supposed to happen in the New

  942. Testament, through Jesus Christ and his ministry.

  943. But there's a part in the Old Testament right there.

  944. In that very chapter that we read without person would bring

  945. a bull. And you know what he would do,

  946. he would lay his hands on that bowl as a symbol that everything

  947. about who he was would be transmitted all this sin, all

  948. the iniquity, all the faults, all the guilt would be

  949. transmitted to that animal as his substitute.

  950. It would be slaughtered on his behalf and it would cover

  951. temporarily for his sin. You know, Jesus Christ is a

  952. picture of that sacrifice, but guess what?

  953. We now have to lay hands on anything, the transaction for

  954. all your record of sin. All the things that you've done

  955. against God is not through the laying hen.

  956. Have hands on an animal, not giving yourself over to a gold

  957. and saying this is my Senate's going over that.

  958. No, no that transaction of all that you've done against God

  959. that brings you to a place of standing and condemnation is

  960. transmitted over to Christ by faith.

  961. By faith. So faith.

  962. Given over to Christ takes all of those things.

  963. A stand. You condemned before God and

  964. comes over to him. And he pays the price for you.

  965. Have you done that? Have you done?

  966. That is there a moment that you can remember where you said I

  967. recognize my sin I recognize that I need a sacrifice.

  968. I need a substitute and like in the Old Testament they have to

  969. lay hands on that animal and say whatever they have to say

  970. Yahweh, this is my substitute, these are my sins now.

  971. Approve of Me. No New Covenant is God.

  972. I know that I've sinned, and I see Christ on that cross and I

  973. believe that he made the payment, Me.

  974. Justified before God by faith. If you have never made that

  975. conscious decision, make it tonight and guess what?

  976. As we just heard in Acts 17, 24 to 28, he is not far from each

  977. one of us for in him. We live and move and have our

  978. being. He's right here.

  979. Call out to him right here and everything can change for you in

  980. this Bible study tonight. What we're studying week after

  981. week is not just some information for a religious

  982. group that has nothing better to do on a Friday.

  983. We believe the very words of God are given through this text and

  984. they give life and life eternal. I hope that our hearts are

  985. stirred. That Christ is the thread

  986. through all these texts. And now, what these people in

  987. the old Covenant were looking forward to is what you and I can

  988. experience today. I conclude with this again. when

  989. you think of Abraham and Isaac in Genesis 22, Who is Christ

  990. symbolized by in that story? Isaac.

  991. And look what it says about Isaac.

  992. Verse 5 of Genesis 22, then Abraham said to his young men

  993. stay here with the donkey I and the boy will go over there to

  994. worship and come again to you and Abraham took the wood of the

  995. burnt offering. And laid it on Isaac, his son.

  996. That even in Genesis 22. Isaac was supposed to become a

  997. burnt offering and God said no I'll send my son to become that

  998. all-consuming. All satisfying sacrifice for all

  999. Humanity for all time. Hebrews 2:9 says he tasted death

    Hebrews 2:9

1000. for every man. O people of God that we would

1001. worship Him. Worship Him and light of the

1002. fact that he is the satisfying sacrifice for you and me, and

1003. this is our worship as Romans. 12 says, not repeating songs off

1004. a screen though. That is an element of it.

1005. But saying, Lord, hears every piece on the altar.

1006. Every piece, every member of who I am dedicated, not to

1007. unrighteousness, but the righteousness and Lord let it be

  1008. a sweet-smelling sacrifice unto you.
