#8 Jesus Christ: Son of God, Son of Man - Pastor Daniel Batarseh

Before we jump into the subject tonight, why don't?

We just open our Bibles to Psalms. 119, Psalms 119, I was

meditating on this chapter late last night and just going

through this. If you ever had the opportunity

to I encourage you strongly read Psalms 119 in one sitting, just

keep reading it. Just keep reading it.

And if you ever want to be challenged, About your devotion

and your love for the word of God.

Compare it to the psalmist words in this chapter.

And look at how the Holy Spirit uses this man to give Insight

concerning the power of the word of God.

And the reason why we reading this is in light of the Bible

study, look at verse 25. My soul clings to the dust give

me life according to your word. Now, you can look at that.

Physically, you can look at that, spiritually, physically in

the sense that he knows that there are those around him that

are persecuting him and are planning an attack on him.

But spiritually, my soul clings to the dust, I'm as good as

dead. I'm so dry.

I need life. And how does that life come

according to the word? The word, read the word heard.

The word received by Faith. Life is imparted.

Look at verse 28. Do you feel like verse 28

tonight, though? You came in with a smile verse

28, my soul. Melts away for sorrow.

I literally feel like I'm disintegrating in the inside.

I feel like I can't go on another moment.

I don't know how I can stay faithful, because I'm barely

faithful even today. And look what happens strengthen

me according to your word. The Holy Spirit showing us hear

something. No matter what, the malady of

your soul is tonight. There's strength as you sit, and

you hear the word of God, the word of God.

Now, you know what the psalmist is meditating on, you know what

the psalmist is Proclaim? You know what?

The psalmist is finding all this delight in, not the Epistles.

The law. Of all things, the law.

Yes. The law can be another word to

summarize the word of God, but the law, we're talking about the

sacrificial law. We're talking about the dietary

law, we're talking about the dress codes.

We're talking about all the instructions of what to do.

If somebody has a spot on his skin or if there's something in

a house that's concerning concerning disease and he goes,

I love your law. I love those instructions.

I love every detail that you give in The Book of Leviticus.

Why? Because it reveals the character

of God. It reveals the nature of God.

And how much more we? How much more should we be

infatuated? And Intoxicated by this word,

when we have the full counsel of God, I say that this a trust

that as you and I sit here tonight that strength will be

imparted into your soul and as you leave and you go back home

after a long week of work, you will know that you ate from his

table. And that you can go on another

week because of his word. Let's pray.

Father, we pray tonight that we would no matter where Soul sits

tonight you would strengthen us according to your word Lord, we

pray that this Bible study would be delivered in a Clarity of

speech freedom from confusion, Lord, Freedom From Any Spirit of

debate, in an unhealthy way. And we ask Lord that we would

simply see Christ elevated and we would love and adore him.

All the more. So we pray that the Holy Spirit,

your Holy Spirit would grant us the spirit of wisdom and

Revelation law. We That we would know what we

believe in even more, and it would cause us to love you even

more. And it would cause us to go out

with a greater boldness and confidence in who you are and

what you have to offer to all men.

We ask these things in the precious name of Jesus Christ.

All of God's people say, amen. there are many titles in the

Bible that describe Jesus Christ.

There are many descriptions that are designated towards the

second person of the Trinity. And I'm sure right now, if we

spend the next five minutes, we can list several common titles

that Christ holds concerning himself and how the rest of

scripture testifies about him. Two of those titles.

Are the son of God. And what's the second one?

The son of man, Son of God, Son of Man, the scriptures describe

Jesus way Jesus defines himself in both ways.

Now when you hear Son of God what's the immediate Association

that comes concerning the nature of Jesus?

When Jesus says I am the Son of God, what comes to mind

concerning his nature? Is Divinity that he is equal in

essence. That he is equal with God, he is

of the same nature. Now when you hear son of man,

what comes to mind concerning his nature, his humanity, and so

the common understanding of Jesus being the Son of God,

Jesus being the son of man, is that him being the Son of God,

deals with his deity, and him being the son of man deals with

his Humanity, right? That's kind of the easy answer,

but the scripture is Go deeper than that.

Because many people who attacked the person of Christ.

Mainly, his deity will often point to the truth that

throughout the scriptures. The title Son of God, or sons of

God, or just simply sun, and reference to relationship with.

God is not just given to Jesus, but given to other persons, And

when you think about the son of man, Jesus had a way deeper

understanding of what he meant. When he said he was the son of

man. And so, what's funny is, when we

think of Son of God, we think immediately deity.

When in fact, the Bible uses Son of God for humans and other

spiritual creatures. And when we think of son of man,

we think Humanity, when in fact, son of man is actually used to

describe deity that funny. And so, back to the point that

often times, people will use these two titles to attack the

person of Christ. And to lower him on the same

level as other created beings to try to discourage us and to

confuse us into thinking that he's not really God In the

Flesh. And so I need several volunteers

All right, so let's go from the beginning Job, chapter 1 and

Chapter 16 and in job, 2116. Now, there was a day when the

sons of God came to present themselves before the Lord.

And Satan also came among. Them.

You go to verse 1 as well. Yeah.

So you heard that right? The sons of God came before The

Throne of God. Who knows what the sons of God

are in that context Angelic beings, right?

To one will say the same thing. Again, there was a day when the

sons of God came to present themselves before the Lord.

And Satan also came among them, to present himself before the

Lord. Again, we see this Angelic

beings who identified collectively as the sons of God,

who are approaching the Throne of God, okay?

Who has Hosea? Tim, please.

What Israel, as a child. I loved him and out of Egypt.

I called my son. Okay?

So Israel is identified as who son, son, of, who Son of God.

Okay, so we have Angel like beings collectively referred to

as sons of God we have the nation of Israel as a whole

referred to as a Son of God who has a next one.

Who has first Chronicles 22? Yes, First Chronicles 10:22

behold. The son shall be born to you.

Who shall be a man of rest? I will give him rest from all

the surrounding enemies. For his name shall be Solomon,

and I will give you peace and quiet and quiet to Israel and

his days, he shall build a house for my name.

He shall be my son and I will be his father and I will establish

his Royal throne and is interesting.

So David is speaking to his son. Lemon and is explaining to him

how though he desired in his own heart to build a house for the

Lord. There was too much blood on his

hands. And so God says, you're not

going to build a house, your son Solomon is going to build the

house, he's going to be a man of rest.

He's not going to be a man of war and the Lord refers to and

relates to Solomon as his son and him being his father in

relationship to what that through the delivery davidic

lineage, those who would sit on an Earthly Throne, as a

representative of God would in some sense, relate to him as Son

to a father. So even on a royal sense, we see

this language of son and father that God has given to me or man

who has the next reference in, Luke 3:38, the son of Seth, the

Luke 3:38

son of Adam, the Son of God, so Luke 3 is a genealogy of Jesus

and at the end of that genealogy we come down to Adam and how is

Adam titled? Can you read it again?

This is the Son of God. The Son of God, Adam created

being you see where we're going with this.

How this title? The Son of God is given to other

created. Beings acts 17:28, acts 17:28,

Tamara for him. Okay, so we see there, that Paul

is evangelizing, and as he's evangelizing, he's describing

how Humanity because they are God's created beings are in a

sense, his offspring, not in the sense of you.

And I, when we're born again into his family, but generally

in humanity, we are brothers and sisters.

And so the idea of us being God's Offspring is their

children of God, Sons and Daughters of God so to speak.

Okay? We have Romans 8:14 15 for all

who are led by the spirit of the God are sons of God for you.

Did not receive the spirit of Slavery to fall back into fear

but you have received the spirit of adoption as Sons by whom we

cry Abba Father. Okay, so we're because we come

into Union with Christ we're not just merely God's Offspring.

Like Acts 17:28 says but because we received the Holy Spirit

indwelling in a ceiling us, we now are called sons of God and

we can relate to him as such in a familial sense.

And the loving intimate way, we have been given access to be

called Sons and Daughters of God because of the finished work of

Jesus Christ. But sons of God.

What's the difference between me being called the Son of God and

Jesus being called the son of God?

Lastly Matthew 5:9 will sit on the peacemakers for they shall

be called sons of God. Blessed are the peacemakers for

they shall be called sons of God.

In other words, those who would reflect and Obey God's will.

In a sense are imitating him and are walking out his nature.

And so they are therefore referred to as sons of God.

So you read through your Bible, you see, all these references.

You see, all these things given two different mere creatures.

And so the argument goes, that Jesus Christ is not really

Divine. In light of all those

references, he is simply perhaps, at best God's most

exalted creature that has walked out in obedience and good works.

Pure in heart. Glorifying God, Etc.

You see how the argument can go. What's so special about the

title Son of God? If it's been granted to so many

others. And the argument is again,

because those titles are given to specific types of people were

obviously walking in righteousness faithfulness,

obedience. So his Christ, but that doesn't

make him divine. And to prove how this is not the

case. We're actually going to go to

one of the verses that is the go-to versus two further attack.

The deity of Christ. Can you think of what that verse

is? It uses a specific word that a

lot of modern translations are not using as much starts with

the letter B begotten. We're going to need you in John

John 3:16

When you get there, can you read John 3:16 to us, please?

For God. So loved the world that he gave

his only begotten son that whosoever believeth in him

should not perish but have everlasting life.

Did you hear it? We know this verse everybody

knows this verse but it's that word begotten, that may cause a

lot of trouble and that would be cotton is unfortunately used as

ammunition to attack the deity of Christ.

What does it mean to be get someone?

Or someone to be gotten to Father?

Someone sure. There's more specific

definition. To deliver to deliver said he

got. He got he got in.

Okay, this is what does it mean in the natural sense?

It's for someone to come into existence by the process of

reproduction. It's for someone to come into

existence through the process of reproduction.

Now, why is that a problem in light of this verse as defines

Jesus Christ, in terms of our theology, Because he's a turtle.

So, so how can the word begotten be used to describe Jesus

Christ. In fact, there are those who

would blasphemously say, mockingly, That Jesus Christ.

You Christians believe is the result of God, the Father

sexually unifying himself with Mary to be get Jesus Christ.

Muslims would accuse Christians of this thought.

And again I really really don't like to go to the original

languages often just because it's important to go there but

we don't have all that resources for us as we can get those

resources but we're not all Greek Scholars here.

But again sometimes we have to and we're going to see how just

a little bit of research into the original.

Can go a long way when you look at the word only begotten, this

is in the King James, but if you see it in the ESV, you won't see

only be gone. What will you see in the ESV?

Only use going to get only, you're not going to get beat

begotten, you can only going to get only new King James nasb.

Will say only begotten a lot of the newer translations will only

say only now only pay attention only and only begotten, even

though it's two words, their deriving it from the same, Greek

word, okay, monogenes, pretty much.

And that word in its right context, actually means

something such as one of a kind or unique in the right context.

It doesn't necessarily mean to come into existence like a child

does through reproduction. It actually means one of a kind

or unique in its right context. And how we can take that word

and prove that just by going to the scriptures and not having to

be a Greek scholar is to see how the word only is used in a

different context to describe a different person that backs up

what we're saying concerning Jesus Christ.

So we need to go to this verse. This is you want to go to John

3:16, you want to write something your Bible.

If you write something in your Bible, right?

Hebrews 11:17, Hebrews, 11:17 shows us how begotten?

Or only or only begotten? Is far more significant than the

meaning of coming into existence by reproduction, Hebrews 11:17.

Can you read it again in the King James Paul, please Hebrews

11:17. Yeah.

By faith Abraham when he was tried offered up Isaac and he

that had received the promises offered up, his only begotten

son. Did you hear it?

In that beautiful chapter, the Hall of Faith, goes on to gum to

Abraham and described how he in faith gave up his son, Isaac and

it defines him as his only begotten son, again ESV will say

only son. Now, why is that interesting in

light of understanding the story of Isaac and Abraham?

He had another son smile yet another son Ishmael, here's

another here's another question. Just this is a side question.

How many sons and total that Abraham have?

93. 45 total including Isaac and Ishmael.

How many sons of Abraham have Genesis 25?

Can you pull up Genesis 25 1 and 2?

How many sons that how many kids that Abraham have total?

Find out. This is after Sarah passed away.

Abraham took another wife, whose name was what Keturah.

And she bore him Zimmern Josh. N me Dan.

Midian is back and schewe. And then they just goes on to

the genealogist, how many we are there. 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8, 8 total

a total. Now even if you don't include

Genesis 25, we know that Ishmael was born before Isaac.

So how can the scriptures Define Isaac as only begotten, when

Ishmael was already a teenager that point Yes, unless of course

according to the original language that word begotten or

only are only begotten does not mean to come into existence, but

means being unique or one of a kind in relationship to another.

And so when we take that truth in Hebrews, 11:17, and how was

Isaac unique? He was born to Sarah, Ishmael

was born to Hagar and he was the son of the Covenant.

He had a unique Ich relationship with his father and likewise the

Holy Spirit uses that same imagery and even uses that same

story to be a prophetic picture of Jesus Christ.

Yes, as the Son of God, yes, even that title being used

amongst other people and other creatures, but having a

one-of-a-kind unique relationship with the father.

Do we see? Do see how powerful that is.

So in John 3:16 that is not averse to use to.

Say that Jesus came into existence by reproduction or any

other. Any other way.

Know what John is saying by the holy spirit.

Is that Jesus Christ? Yes, as the Son of God holds a

unique one-of-a-kind, special relationship with the father.

How so by having an eternal intimate fellowship with him,

even before everything else was created.

How is Jesus Christ unique? Amongst all the other so-called

sons of God, this is how he's unique, he was eternally in the

bosom of the father. That's how he's unique.

So if anything that word only solidifies the reality that he

is, in fact, Eternal, because he's unique because he's not

unlike others, that's what it's trying to say.

Do we see that this is so crucial to understand especially

with a verse like that? That so often used to try to

intimidate Christians, shall we have further proof of this John

20:17, we already went through this verse but let's hear it

again. John 20:17.

It's good to go over some familiar verses.

Jesus said to her, this is after his resurrection.

Do not cling to me for I have not yet ascended to the father,

but go to my brothers and say to them, I am ascending to my

father and your father to my God, and your God.

Now we already settled mainly what he meant by saying my God

and your God, just for the sake of her memory.

Why did he say my God? How can Jesus have a god?

Because he's the God of All Flesh.

According to Jeremiah 32 27. Jesus Christ took on flesh.

And as he took on flesh, he assumed to be in subjection to

God as his God. All Flesh including the

Incarnate son. But let's look at, I am

ascending to my father, and your father.

Now, why didn't Jesus say our father?

He could have I'm sending to our father.

He didn't very specific with his language.

I am ascending to my father and your father.

We can call god father, by what by Grace.

How through adoption, through the finished, work of Jesus

Christ, the firstborn among many Brethren.

We've been given access into the family of God, to be able to

say, Abba Father, but only Jesus Christ has a unique place in

that understanding of him being father in that, he was not

adopted. He was not brought in at one

point in history, he was eternally the son of God.

So he can say my father and your father that's a wonderful Truth

for us. It makes a distinction because

he alone had an eternal fellowship with him.

In an intimate way, read John 1:18.

It says that he was always in the bosom of the father so close

is so intimate. Depending on your translation

might say he was always at the father's side but it's speaking

about close proximity speaking. About this knowledge of one.

Another that is unique this isn't this is A side verse.

This is powerful. Don't turn there if you can.

Please put up Matthew 11:27 Matthew 11:27 just to hear and

Matthew 11:27 Matthew 11:27

understand that, this son of God, is unique, all things have

been handed over to me by my father and no one knows the son,

except the father. The sun is e comprehendible and

no one can fully comprehend the sun, except one the father.

Who can say that, what creature can say?

No one can fully grasp me. No one can fully comprehend me.

Except God Alone. And no one knows the father

except the son and anyone to whom the son chooses to review.

Do you see the exclusivity there?

You see that tight-knit relationship there?

Do you see that the Son and the father knowing one another and

whoever has been given access to no father as Father the Son

chooses to reveal to him? So we can't put Jesus though

that title, Son of God are sons of God or son and reference to

God is shared. We can't put Jesus on the same

level as man. Here's another one.

Just don't turn there. You can just pay attention to

the screen and Mark 12. Jesus shares a parable.

Thank you. And he began to speak to them in

Parables a man planted a Vineyard and put a fence around

it. And dug a pit for the winepress

and built the Tower and leased it to tenants and went into

another country. So remember tenants, he leased

it to tenants and he left to another country.

When the season came, he sent a servant to the tenants to get

from them, some of the fruit of the vineyard.

Now, if you're familiar with this Parable, who the tenants

represent the Pharisees, the religious authorities of Israel

are the tenants that have been given responsibility to We

manage and cultivate the vineyard and to bear fruit as

the people of God. And in order to gather fruit,

what is the Lord say, says that the owner of the vineyard sends

his servant and now, what did they do to this sermon?

They took him and beat him and sent him away empty-handed.

You can go to the next verse Again, he sent them another

servant and they struck him on the head and treated him

shamefully, and he sent another and him.

They killed. And so with many others, someday

beat, and someday killed now, who did the servants represent

the prophets? God, sending one messenger after

the other to come and to continually remind, the people

of who they are in their identity in relationship to God,

and how they ought to walk Faithfully to God, and how they

respond killing destroying beating shaming, and we go on.

He had still one other. A beloved Son.

Finally, he sent him to them saying they will respect my son.

But those tenants said to one another, this is the heir come.

Let us kill him, and The Inheritance will be ours.

And it took him and killed him and threw him out of the

vineyard. I'm either side.

So we have another category. Now, what's the third category?

Only one only one person fits that category, beloved Son, the

Beloved son, who is the heir of all things, concerning the owner

of the vineyard now. Why do we bring this Parable up?

Because we see that Christ in this?

Parable, distinguishes himself, even from the most Faithful

Servants of God throughout the ages.

These prophets that went forth to represent God.

God and to speak forth, his word Christ, elevates himself above

those Messengers who say that he is preeminent and transcended

because he alone was eternally and fellowship in intimacy with

God and he alone is the air possessor.

All things I got almost. So even in a parable like this,

we see that Christ is Sanctified amongst even the greatest of

men. This is a powerful understanding

concerning the nature of God. I want to design a question,

just for the sake of dialogue, and this is important to

understand you maybe it never fought this, but this is

actually welcome to the Christian World.

Geology, this is the baited subject.

This specific question. Jesus Christ, being the Son of

God, it's clear. It's a reality we see here, but

some even amongst Evangelical Christians that are not Heretics

per se. There are two sides to this

understanding of Jesus, being the Son of God, and this is

important to understand. The one side is that the Son of

God, the title Son of God does not necessarily speak about his

nature as much as he speaks about his submissive role that

he took upon himself. And so Jesus Christ, in other

words was not always the Son of God, but he became the Son of

God, not in the game. God not that, he's any less than

God, but he took on the role of Son of God at a specific time in

history. What point do you think that is

his birth? His Incarnation.

So you have some genuine Believers.

I don't deny the deity of Christ that don't deny that.

Jesus Christ is fully. God, they don't deny it.

That they don't, they don't say that he was created.

But what they do say is that when he was born, even through

the miraculous conception, that was the moment where he became

the son of God. Do you notice how this is?

No. Jesus Christ always was the son

of God. I did it didn't happen.

It didn't come into existence that time it was a roll.

It's his nature to years even from the beginning where you

said we weren't stoned you. Don't worry.

Do you? Do you understand this idea of

some, God has more of a role or more of his nature from eternity

past and see why this is important.

This night is not just, let's just argue for kicks.

There's a reason. And what we have been saying?

What position we hold to. Yes he personally I'd say he was

always the Son of God to say that he just took on that role

when he was born as denouncing, the triangle God saying he

wasn't trying being until Jesus got born on.

You could say make the same argument for the Holy Spirit and

the Holy Spirit didn't come into play, until he came down at a

Pentecost. Well, I would say this the those

who hold to that, you don't say that Jesus Christ did not

eternally exist or was not a part of the Trinity is that he

assumed the role of a servant by becoming the Son of God in a

subordinate way. That's what we're trying to say

here. So those who say this are

genuine Believers, and they're not saying that Jesus Christ

didn't exist until he became a person.

They're saying that the title, the role of Son of God was

brought about at the Incarnation.

Yeah I believe in some got is some eternal Ali son.

But there is a verse that always know.

I have a question about it when he said you are my son today, I

have begotten you, so if he's eternally and that verse talk

about eternally is starting today.

I've been recording you like such as there is a certain day

or there is a beginning, so how you reconcile that?

Yeah, we'll get to that. That's a Hebrews 15 speaks about

how the father's is today. I have begotten, you, that's an

important verse. Yes, Because I mean, I'm done.

I'm not denying that like I believe that he's internal, but

that's like within the Trinity, the Trinity was always there

because God is eternal, but I believe that when he came into

the world as a baby you know his birth was him breaking out into

three parts in one. And him taking on that role as

the Son of God I'm coming into the world is when we kind of got

those three. I don't know.

I understand but we understand where you're coming from and

before we move on just to put up, Luke 1:35 to see where

Luke 1:35

people are coming from to back up that view that Jesus Took on

that role. As a Son of God, his birth Luke

1:35 and the angel answered. The holy spirit will come upon

you and the power of the most high will overshadow you.

Therefore the child To be born will be called.

Holy the son of God. Jackie had your hand up

so would it be? Would it be?

So you're saying that he was always the Son of God.

But two thousand years ago he became the son of man because

that kind of gives more of a human connotation to it.

It's an interesting view. Okay we're going to see.

We're going to find out in a moment that the son of man has

more Divine element to it than we think.

Yes. I don't want to point out that

and say, okay, no, this is a specific period of time in which

God had begotten cries. I don't hold to that by the way,

when I'm just adding 3 4 5 right.

Right? Right.

It's okay. We like fire.

Fires. Good.

As long as it's safe and it stays within the boundaries

fires good. Luke 1:35, right?

He shall be called. Holy the son of God.

Phoebe. Yeah.

Can you stop being the same guy who didn't have anything to do

with this package, like forgot to offer of his only son?

Seems to me more of a sacrificial things.

Mmm, did you guys hear that perspective?

If Jesus was not the son before his Incarnation, then does that

dilute the sacrificial? Love that God displays in

sending his son into the world. That's a good point.

Yes. This is good fires, good.

Anybody want to add some more fuel to the fire?

Maybe going back to John, 3:16 God.

So loved the world. Sure he gave his son.

How can that language be used for the second person of the

Trinity when he wasn't born yet. My son is mentioned in the Old

Testament, psalms and Proverbs, and Psalms to, and Father's Day,

right? Son of God.

Or son of man. Just some kiss, the son, lest he

be angry and you perish. Okay, so so in the Old

Testament, we see that there is reference to the sun before the

Incarnation. That's the point.

That's a beautiful Point. Yes.

Paul. The people would say that that's

a reference to Future event. That's so it's prophetic, it's

not a present reality. Why are you sure?

Yes. Cautions 1:16 says, at the end

it says everything was created through him and for him.

So meaning like it's God. And then for him at the same

time, sure. Yes.

It's a beautiful verse of defendant deity of Christ and

nobody would deny again, that Christ was divine before his

Incarnation but the Argument is he wasn't always known and

referred to and related to within the internal relationship

There's a big difference between being called and becoming to say

that Jesus Christ was called the Son of God does not indicate

that. And this moment he assumed the

role of sun in relation to the godhead, what it does do though

is affirm the miraculous conception and birth of the Son

of God declares that he Is the Son of God, it does not make him

the Son of God. So many of those who would say

that it was at this moment that Jesus became the Son of God.

events, the main events of Jesus life death burial, Resurrection

Ascension, have to explain why he's referred to and identified

as a Son of God in those moments as well.

That says that he was declared to be the Son of God and Power

by his resurrection. Unless of course the scriptures

are not saying we can go to different events especially his

Ascension unless of course these verses are not saying that in

those moments in those Supernatural events.

That was the moment that he was begotten.

That was the moment, he was referred to as the Sun but that

his miraculous birth his, conquering victory over death.

Shout it to the world. This is the Son of God.

Do we see? It's not saying he became the

Son of God. Those events are only.

Identifying him as Son of God. It's just affirming that he is

truly God In the Flesh. He is truly God over death, he

is truly God's son in which God has ascended him and approved of

his death and his sacrificial work on behalf of humanity.

Does that make sense? It's identifying, it's not

saying that he became that thing or became that role.

role, as much as it is an identity and Christ him in

nature, being the Son of God. And so we see that in enriches,

the relationship within the godhead.

And not only that, it provides a greater depth and understanding

the love of God for all Humanity when he sent forth his son, his

child not for a world? That's Going to be saved

understand that there is this richness and realizing the

Eternal sonship of Christ and relationship to the father and

in relationship to us being Redeemed by The godhead in

with this salvific plan to save us.

So this is important for us to realize, let's not undermine the

love of God by failing to realize that he was eternally

the son. Now, we stablished that right,

I believe what you're saying. And Hebrews 1.

Yeah that's mean if you look at it that's mainly speaking about

his Ascension. So again we see we see we see

the Incarnation, we see Resurrection, we see Ascension

Hebrews 1, read the verses proceeding that and you realize

that he's speaking about his Ascension.

And so remember all these Supernatural events are just

saying, this is the Son of God. This is the Son of God.

This is the Son of God. It's just shouting.

The fact that he is in fact God That's the simple explanation.

makes sense. We stablished that Jesus Christ

is God's only begotten son, meaning that he holds a unique

one-of-a-kind relationship with the father since he eternally

existed and had fellowship with the father, unlike any other,

but does the Son of God mean, more than that.

Does the term Son of God, especially in the gospels mean

more than the fact that Jesus amongst all the other sons of

God had a unique relationship with the father.

Yes, it does. When Jesus referred to himself

as the son of God. Remember that title was used for

rulers that title was used for Adam that title was used for

So how do we explain that title being given to Mere creatures

and the offense? That came from that title as it

Let's go to John 5. John 5 is rich in understanding

the sonship of Christ, and let's just go there so that we can

chew on this for a moment verse 17 of John chapter 5, But Jesus

This is this was why the Jews were seeking all the more to

kill him because not only was he breaking the Sabbath, but he was

even calling God his own father making himself equal with God.

Now it begs the question again what is the big deal if that

to say, son of God and them to be so offended by it.

Now let's go to the same book but chapter 19 and see how this

is enhanced even more John chapter, 19, 6 and 7. so, when

it comes to Jesus trial, Verse 6 says, when the chief priests and

the officers saw him, they cried out, crucify him, crucify, him

pilate said to them take him yourselves and crucify him for.

I find no guilt in him, the Jews answered him, we have a law.

And according to that law, he ought to die because he has made

himself the son of God. I challenge us tonight to find a

law in the Old Testament. It says you should be put to

death for referring to yourself as a son of God.

It was a normal term. It spoke of those who

represented God who are in authority and had to make

judicial decisions. He's calling himself, Son of God

and we have a law that says that he needs to be put to death

because of that. There is no such law in the Old

Testament. unless of course, when Jesus was declaring himself

to be the son of God, their minds realize that he was making

himself equal with God being of the same essence of God.

And so, the only law that they can go to that with demand him

to be. Put to death is Leviticus 24:16.

Leviticus 24:16 says, something about blasphemy against the name

makes sense and the association that they're making between

Jesus declaration. And their reaction.

Whoever blasphemes the name of the Lord shall surely be put to

Every time you remember those moments in John, where he says

that he is God, I and the father are one with the they do as a

reaction. And want to Stone him.

In light of this, he's calling himself equal with God, he's

elevating himself to godhood. He's claiming to be divine,

let's kill him. And after failing and failing

and failing. They eventually partnered with

the Romans to get him crucified instead and they appeal to this,

And now this is important because we have John commenting

that they were reacting to this because Jesus was calling

himself, God we have the Pharisees assuming and accusing

that Jesus Christ was claiming to be God.

This is Jesus himself. Understand himself to be God,

that he declared that from his own lips.

There's anybody knows scripture verse before we go to, before we

go there. Before we go there, let's

establish this. Let's establish this.

Okay, that the New Testament audience the Jewish people.

Mainly we can all agree on this. I hope understood That Jesus

Christ, referring himself or being identified as the Son of

God, meant that he was equal with God, in essence in nature

and Divinity, do we all agree with that?

agree that the people understood rightfully so that this idea of

Son of God meant that Jesus was in essence?

during the bathroom scene, you can see, you know, like he like

before when the saying in 32 said, I saw the Spirit

descending from heaven like a dove, any remained, upon them.

And then 34 saying and I've seen and testified that this is the

Son of God, this is John the Baptist testifying right, okay.

So we have John the Baptist, the Forerunner testify and we have

John commenting and giving commentary we have the Pharisees

accusing. Where's Jesus.

How about affirmation we take that from God?

The Father. Oh God, the Father Who?

Well, Peter saying that, he's the son of God.

because Jesus adds another layer to his nature.

But I tell you, from now on, you will see, not the son of God.

Son of Man. He could have got going with the

idea of being a Son of God but now he throws in this title that

we've been discussing or mentioned in the beginning.

Rather, son of man seated at the right hand of power and coming

on the Clouds Of Heaven. now if this was in a big deal, if this

was him identify himself like any other sons of God or son of

man, meant that he was just a mere human, which it does have

that idea, especially in the Book of Ezekiel Why would this

high priest do this? Then the high priest tore, his

robes and said, he had uttered blasphemy?

What further witness do we need? And I would say the same thing

to anybody that would attack the deity of Christ.

What further witness do, you need?

We have a written plane. Jesus said you have said, so

what else do you need? You have now heard his blasphemy

now. Son of man for Jesus to say, son

of man, that title that phrase that description can refer to

someone who is of human origin. If you've ever read the book of

Ezekiel, you see that God continually refers to the

prophet, as son of man. Son of man, son of man, son of

man. And I'm sure many people know

here, word, Jesus was going with this statement.

What Jesus had in mind and what the Pharisees had in mind.

When he says I am The son of men.

Yes, why would the Bible tell? Tell the people to Stone

someone, if they claim to be equal to God, if we know that

Jesus will be, proclaiming that he is equal to God.

Well, they didn't believe he was God, so he was saying that, and

they didn't want to believe it, so they wanted to kill him

instead, because they thought he was obviously not who he claimed

to be at the Bible doesn't actually, it doesn't actually

say kill those that. Say that they are God.

Right? Right.

I hear what you're saying but what they were trying to do was

they were saying that this was Blasphemous for a mere human to

equate himself. To God is blasphemy.

And so they Associated this claim of him, being the Son of

God or God being his father on the same level as blaspheming,

the name of the Lord, for many reasons to bring the name of the

Lord down to whatever reason is involved with that statement,

but they equated it to blasphemy and they wanted to kill him for

it. So they appeal to Leviticus

24:16 and they denied, the obvious claim that Christ was

trying To make yes. Now believe he was referring to

the Book of Daniel. That's it.

Daniel chapter 7 when he said the son of, man, this is a key.

Like a son of man one like of human origin.

I'm seeing a man but we're Going to find out that this son of

man, one like a son of man is beyond just a man.

And he came to the Ancient of Days now who's the Ancient of

Days? The father.

So right here we have two distinct persons.

Now go to verse 9 and let's realize that this son of man and

this Ancient of Days are more equal than we think.

As I looked how many Thrones replaced Thrones were placed,

not one thrown plural, Thrones were placed and the Ancient of

Days took his seat, his clothing was white as snow and the hair.

Of his head like pure wool. Does that sound familiar?

I think I've read that somewhere Revelations chapter one like

father, like son, his throne was fiery flames, it's Wheels, were

burning flyer. The point that we have to make

here is that there are Thrones and there's already one being

who took his seat and in verse 13, in comes one like a son of

man. And what he's about to do, take

his seat on his throne. I saw in the night visions and

behold with the Clouds Of Heaven that came one like a son of man

and he came to the Ancient of Days and was presented.

Rented before him. Now we're going to realize that

this person is more than just a man.

Because look what subscribe to him.

Look what's granted to him and to him was given dominion and

glory and a kingdom now, okay? That was given to David and some

sense that was given to Kings that represented God and through

the nation of Israel. But I'll go Stephen that that

all peoples Nations and languages should serve him.

That word serve is very significant.

It's more than just obeying his commands.

And in fact, the notes worship His Dominion is an everlasting

Dominion. That's important.

It's Snot, a temporary Kingdom. Its Everlasting.

We shall not pass away and his kingdom one, that shall not be

destroyed. Now we can go to Daniel chapter

Heaven, that's an important phrase.

theological significance of clouds of Heaven.

Why is clouds of Heaven important can anybody guess why?

Clouds of Heaven is important? Because looking Muslim has a

time, I just came up to met God on the mountain.

That's when that's when he's able to interact with him.

and I think there's you're very close to understanding how this

relates to God, how this relates to God.

Is this is that one Clouds Of Heaven speaks of heavenly origin

but to this idea of clouds of heaven and activity associated,

with it is an element that is solely and uniquely described

Trinity again, so, clouds of heaven with the Clouds Of Heaven

Old Testament, very carefully, solely granted to the Lord

writing the Lord Yahweh? The deny Divine name of God.

The Lord is riding on a swift. Cloud and comes to Egypt, and

the idols of Egypt will tremble at his presence and the Heart of

the Egyptians will melt within them.

So, this idea of God, coming in swiftly, on a cloud in Act of

judgment in an act of judgment, he's coming on.

A cloud is ascribed to Yahweh. We see the same thing in Psalms

104 1, 2 3, Psalms 104 1 2 3. So we see that Yahweh is riding

on a swift. Cloud and comes to Egypt, bless

the Lord, O My Soul, O Lord my God, you are very great.

You are clothed with Splendor and Majesty, covering yourself

with light as with a garment stretching out the heavens like

a tenth verse 3. He lays the beams of his

Chambers on the waters. He makes the clouds his

chariots, his cheery, he rides on the wings of the Wind.

We go to Nahum. We'd have to turn in their him,

says how the clouds are like the dust of his feet.

And so, we have these verses that show how these clouds and

God being associated with them. Mainly in the looks like as an

act of judgment coming to rule coming to intervene in a

specific moment is granted solely to Yahweh but not just

Yahweh. Because when you go to Daniel 7,

it's given to the son of man. Not just to this one.

Like a son of man by Jesus. I'm coming down with a Clouds Of

Heaven. Here's our final verse.

meant his mind's racing, all the way to Daniel chapter 7 ripped,

So we established and conclusion that this idea of God, being the

Son of God means that he is uniquely related to God as the

Eternal son and also claiming to be equal with God in essence and

nature based on the reactions of those who heard him say such a

thing, the son of man does not only speak about his human

nature, though, it can describe that, but more significantly, it

describes Daniel chapter 7. The deification.

The OT, the Divinity of this man like figure, that was really God

who became flesh who is flesh, who is coming back on the clouds

and every eye will see him even those who pierced him.

I think about this and this isn't part of the Bible said but

just this versus come to mind. Right before the Bible study

about the love that the father has for the son.

How it's a unique love how to special love because it was

eternal was before all creation. We become the objects of his

love through adoption as we respond to the gospel.

But do you ever wonder what the intensity of that?

loved me before the foundation of the world, i in them and you

in me that they may become perfectly one so that the world

may know that you sent me and love them.

Even as you love me. Let's read that very slowly, I

and them. And you and me that they may

become perfectly one. So that the world may know that

you sent me and in sending me, what are you making a statement

of God? What statement is god?

Making by sending his son and loved them even as you love me.

Having a bad day. I get that theologically but I

need to feel it in my heart. What?

I get the theological but I need that to be the source of my

strength. Lord, I need to realize that So

when I don't feel loved, I have the love of the Father.

The same way he loves the Sun. Wow, he was eternally the son.

I'm adopted by grace. but the intensity of his love for the

Eternal son is the same intensity of love for me an

because you will find no other, I guarantee you that Making your

prayer to say. Lord, let me really feel that.

Let me really know that. And you know why you're going to

go to heaven, and I'm going to go to heaven, many reasons, but

verse 24, we went there ahead, but let's just read it again.

This is Christ. Did I have for you and me?

I desire. That they also whom you have,

given me may be with me where I am now listen to this.

What did Jesus say? Or what's the commentary when

Jesus appointed the 12 apostles? Mark chapter 3, says that he

hear the final faith of those who reject the gospel, and those

who embrace the gospel, and to Grant relief to you, who are

afflicted as well to us. When the Lord Jesus is revealed

from heaven with his mighty angels, we talked about that in

flaming fire, so he's not coming down an acute cloud.

Inflicting Vengeance on those who do not know God.

And on those who do not obey the gospel of our Lord Jesus, they

will suffer the punishment of Eternal destruction away from

the presence of the Lord. And from the glory of his mind,

that is the final fate of those who have said no to, Jesus

Christ who have rejected God who don't want to know, God who

don't want to embrace his grace. That's the final fate, but

what's the fate of you? And I who have embraced him and

loved him and surrender to him the next verse when he comes on

that day to be glorified in, Saints.

Look at this and to be marveled at among all who have believed

you want to know what's going to happen when we go with him.

We're just going to Marvel at him.

We're just going to look at him. We're going to be stunned by

what we're going to see how long are we going to be stunned for a

thousand years? Oh yeah and then another

thousand years oh yeah another 10,000 years oh yeah add a

million years to that and we haven't even reached we having

to scratch the surface of how much we're going to Marvel at

him who have believed. So Christ in that prayer says

those who have given me mord. Father, I want them to Marvel at

me. I wanted to be with me so that

they can behold my glory. And that's why you can say what

the psalmist said in Psalm 73 25.

Whom have I in heaven, but you, Jesus, if you're not in heaven,

I don't want to go to heaven. There are a lot of people that

want having with Jesus in there. But I want to go to heaven

because I want to Marvel at him. I want to Behold Him.

I just want to look at him and my prayer.

I pray as yours as well. Lord, I feel the veil.

I feel the limitation of My Flesh.

I feel the limitation of my mind.

I feel the limitation of even understand this.

I need your Holy Spirit to illuminate.

God, give me as much of your glory.

As I can on this side of Heaven. Before I see the fullness of it.

I don't want to waste my life, just waiting for that day.

I Want Your Glory. Now as much as I can handle.

Fill my cup to the brim. Lord speak to my heart.

As much as you can reveal yourself and Lord when your

glory shines, that all the lights of the world them out.

So you can receive my devotion to adoration until my final

breath. Let's pray.

Lori just come into your presence.

And we bask in the Revelation that he your son Jesus is, in

fact, the son of God. is in fact the son of man, Lord, your word

is still true. We feel the weight of its

conviction. We sense the supernatural in it.

We realize that this is not an ordinary text. but from cover to

cover, It confirms the reality of Who You Are.

And it confirms what you have done.

And it promises, what will come. and Lord despite this

technologically advanced age and despite all of our knowledge and

creasing and all of the busyness and all of the things that

seduce us We realize in this moment that one day, you're

going to come on the clouds. And you're going to have

dominion and Reign Over all these things forever and ever.

And Lord we don't want anybody in this room to be on that side

where you will flick Vengeance on those who do not know God and

have not obeyed, the gospel of the Lord, Jesus Christ.

Well, we pray that every person by your grace and by your spirit

even now is he's here. To convict any heart.

That is not made that decision so that they can be on the side

in which they can await the moment where they will Marvel at

your glory forever and ever and ever.

And Lord we pray now, even as we sing to you a you would just

give us a glimpse of your glory. that Lord, we would Worship you

in light of the glory that is revealed in the Bible.

But oh God, for the sake of our own hearts.

Remove the veil. Lord thin it out.

We want to see you. We want to behold you.

And let the light of the gospel of Christ.

Let the light that shines forth from the face of Jesus.

Blind us from everything else. Captivate our hearts again.

Bring us in again, Lord. Help us realize that the father

loves us. as much as he loves his son, I can't comprehend it.

I don't deserve it. It doesn't make sense.

But it's true. And that's our motivation at the

sin against you. That's our motivation.

Not to live our lives for ourselves.

That's our motivation to say. Oh God. if you can love me with

such intensity, Help me love you with greater intensity.
