  1. Let's wave our Bibles around, make Jesus glad.

  2. The devil May I say this together say Heavenly Father, I'm glad to be here tonight.

  3. My heart is open to receive revelation, knowledge that will build my faith, that will close the gap between what I know and what I actually do.

  4. I want to be a doer of the Word, not just a hero only, and I thank you, father, for this revelation tonight.

  5. In Jesus' name, amen, let's turn in our Bibles, please, to Matthew, chapter 11.

    Matthew 11 chapter mention

  6. And we'll start reading the verse one.

  7. And it came to pass when Jesus had made an end to commanding his 12 disciples, he departed thence to teach and to preach in their cities.

  8. Now, when John had heard in the prison the works of Christ, he sent to of his disciples and said unto him art thou he that should come or look we for another?

  9. Jesus answered and said unto them, go and show John again those things which you do.

  10. See it here and see the blind receive their sight and the lame walk.

  11. The lippers are cleansed and the deaf here.

  12. The dead are raised up and the poor have the gospel preached unto them, and blessed is he whosoever shall not be offended in me.

  13. And as they departed, jesus began to say under the multitudes.

  14. Concerning John, what went you out into the wilderness?

  15. To see A reed shaken by the wind.

  16. But what went you out for?

  17. To see a man clothed in soft raiment?

  18. Behold, they that wear soft clothing are in King's houses.

  19. But what went you out for?

  20. To see a prophet?

  21. Yes, I say unto you, and more than a prophet, for this is he of whom it is written.

  22. Behold, I send my messenger before my face, which shall prepare thy way before thee.

  23. Verily, I say unto you, among them that are born of women, there hath not risen a greater than John the Baptist.

  24. Not withstanding, he that is least in the kingdom of heaven is greater than he.

  25. And so tonight I wanted to share a message entitled the marks of greatness, or the characteristics the marks of greatness.

  26. Jesus honored John the Baptist when he was at his weakest moment.

  27. We see a mighty prophet.

  28. In fact, jesus said there was no one born of a woman greater than him.

  29. Think about what kind of territory that is.

  30. I don't know how many people had been born up to that date, but he was greater than Adam, and he's greater than well.

  31. Adam wasn't born of a woman, never mind, but anyway, everybody else I mean.

  32. Just think about it.

  33. And I asked the Lord.

  34. I said, lord, what was so great about him?

  35. I mean I'd like to know.

  36. Do you ever ask the Lord questions?

  37. I mean I ask questions.

  38. I wanna know what do you think what's so great about him?

  39. You know, he just denied you.

  40. He's sitting in prison.

  41. He got so down.

  42. He denied you and you didn't fire him.

  43. You bragged on him, you talked about it, you praised him.

  44. Oh, there's not another, nobody greater that's been born of a woman.

  45. That means women and men, nobody greater than John the Baptist.

  46. So I said, okay, god, what's so great?

  47. You know?

  48. I mean he's actually got his two disciples that go ask Jesus, are you the one that should come, or look we for another?

  49. And he's the one.

  50. I mean you need to read about what he said.

  51. But hold the Lamb of God who take the way, the sins of the world?

  52. I mean he marked him and yet now he's doubting, say I don't let the devil beat you up just because you've had a bad spot, you know, bad, maybe a bad few days, or even a bad few months.

  53. I mean, we all go through things.

  54. This message is not about discouragement particularly, but it could be.

  55. But and Jesus said something curious he said yet the least of us in the kingdom of heaven is greater than he.

  56. What does that mean?

  57. Well, he's talking about church, and it gets back to what I was preaching the last two weeks about walking in the news.

  58. 2 Corinthians 517.

  59. If any man or person be in Christ, that person is a new creature.

  60. Old things are passed away and, behold, all things have become new, a new species of being that never before existed.

  61. All things are become new, and that is continual fulfillment.

  62. In other words, it doesn't just stop when you got saved and you became new.

  63. Then you become new on a continual basis.

  64. I mean, I'm new since I walked up on the platform.

  65. I'm new since I opened my Bible.

  66. I'm new all the time.

  67. I'm new, I'm refreshed, I'm regenerated and so.

  68. So he's.

  69. Jesus knew that, and so he's.

  70. He's reserving the greatness for the greatness of the new covenant that he cut for us His blood.

  71. See, he's.

  72. This is, this is the value of what we have.

  73. It's so powerful.

  74. When you look at one of these giants like John the Baptist, and he that is least in the kingdom of heaven is greater than he.

  75. Why?

  76. Not because we are, but because we're in Christ because of the new birth.

  77. You see that.

  78. So he didn't say that to puff, puff us up and give us some kind of false honor, but rather to honor our redemption.

  79. So it brings me back to the, to the question why is John the Baptist great and God's sight, or the marks of greatness?

  80. So I've got four things here that I found, and most of them over in John chapter one.

  81. So if you don't mind, let's just look over there in John chapter one and look at what the Bible says about him and find out how God evaluates, how God evaluates John.

  82. Chapter one, verse 19.

  83. And this is the record of John when the Jews sent priests and Levites from Jerusalem to ask him who are you See?

  84. They wanted to know.

  85. I mean, he's out there baptizing people in the wilderness.

  86. He's talking about you, generation of vipers, who sent you to flee the wrath to come.

  87. He was a mean looking cat man.

  88. He was all business.

  89. He was not a jovial sort, he didn't.

  90. He wasn't the kind that said hey brother, come over here and give me a hug.

  91. You know, you didn't hear that from me.

  92. Of course you didn't hear that from Jesus either, but anyway, all right.

  93. So and so, verse 19.

  94. And he confessed and denied not, but confessed I am not the Christ, the first thing you know you're coming out here to check out.

  95. I will tell you right now I'm not the Christ, I'm not the Messiah.

  96. And they asked him well, what then?

  97. Are you Elijah?

  98. And he said I'm not.

  99. Are you that prophet?

  100. And he answered no.

  101. And they say unto him who are you?

  102. That we may give an answer to them?

  103. That sent us?

  104. Who sent them?

  105. Well, the religious crowd, the high-muckity mugs, the same ones that doubted Jesus, you know.

  106. And we wanna be able to tell them who you are.

  107. And he said I am the boy you know.

  108. They said who are you?

  109. That we may give an answer to them?

  110. That sent us?

  111. What saith thou of thyself?

  112. What do you say about yourself?

  113. And he said I am the voice of one crying in the wilderness.

  114. Make straight the way of the Lord, as said the prophet Isaiah.

  115. Make straight the way of the Lord, as said the prophet Isaiah.

  116. So great men say what the Word says about them.

  117. They say it's not.

  118. It's not being proud, it's not being, it's not being solicitous like I'm somebody great, it's just.

  119. I am what the Word says.

  120. I am In fact, jesus said the same thing about him.

  121. So Jesus knew who he was.

  122. Jesus knew who he was.

  123. We already read that.

  124. Matthew, chapter 11.

    Matthew 11 chapter mention

  125. I'm the voice of one crying in the wilderness.

  126. I'm the voice of one crying in the wilderness.

  127. Make straight the way of the Lord, said the prophet Isaiah.

  128. Isaiah 40, verse three.

  129. So he found in Isaiah.

  130. Let's go back to Isaiah for a second.

  131. Remember when Jesus stood in his hometown and he said the Spirit of the Lord is upon me because he's an on me.

  132. He preached the gospel to the poor.

  133. He preached deliverance to the captives, recovering of sight to the blind, sent me to heal the broken heart and all of those things.

  134. That was in Isaiah.

  135. So he found the place where it was written about himself.

  136. Was it bragging?

  137. No, it's always.

  138. Greatness always confesses what the Word says about us.

  139. So let's look at Isaiah, chapter 40.

    Isaiah 40 chapter mention

  140. Well, how did he know this?

  141. Well, at some point in time he had a revelation of who he was.

  142. God will tell you who you are.

  143. In fact, god already told you who you are.

  144. You've got to do is get over here in the epistles, get over in the book of Romans.

  145. 1 Corinthians, 2 Corinthians, ephesians, colossians, amen, 1 and 2 Thessalonians.

  146. Everywhere it says in Christ, in whom?

  147. Through whom?

  148. With whom?

  149. That's you.

  150. It's never proud to say what the Bible says about you.

  151. You are who the Bible says you are.

  152. You have what the Bible says you have.

  153. You can do what the Bible says you can do.

  154. It's never bragging, it's never proud, amen.

  155. So he found in Isaiah 40, verse three, the voice of him that cryeth in the wilderness prepare you the way of the Lord, make straight into the desert a highway for our God.

  156. I mean, he literally went out in the desert.

  157. He was out in the desert.

  158. He didn't, he wouldn't hang around Jerusalem where there was plenty of running, you know plenty of wells and plenty of food and plenty of.

  159. I mean he ate locusts and wild honey.

  160. I mean he's out there in the desert, baptized.

  161. And when you wanted to go out there and be baptized, you know the Jewish people.

  162. When they were baptized it was for repentance.

  163. They, you know baptism we talk about water baptism but they had baptism.

  164. It was a tenant of the Jewish religion and when they were baptized it was usually to take that mitzvah bath.

  165. It was to cleanse them of sin when they recognized that they were not walking according to the law, you know, then that would be an extra thing that they would do.

  166. So they went out there and masses of people were, were baptized in the desert.

  167. And so he said verse four every valley shall be exalted, every mountain and hill shall be made low and the crooked shall be made straight and the rough places plain, and the glory of the Lord shall be revealed and all flesh shall see it together, for the mouth of the Lord has spoken it.

  168. So he had his marching orders and so great the marks of greatness.

  169. Great men say what the word says about them.

  170. Never have to apologize.

  171. When you say what the word says, you're not bragging.

  172. And so I just look.

  173. I like to say I'm a new creature in Christ Jesus.

  174. I say it almost every day.

  175. I'm a new creation, I'm a new species of being.

  176. I brand new.

  177. I've been made new right now.

  178. I said I'm being made new right now In my spirit.

  179. See, I am a spirit.

  180. I'm talking about my spirit.

  181. Now.

  182. You know also, my mind is being renewed.

  183. I've been transformed by the renewing of my mind.

  184. So I think the thoughts of God.

  185. I know how God thinks, cause I read my Bible.

  186. Now I know what he thinks about greatness Cause, years ago I asked him well, what makes John the Baptist great?

  187. Why did Jesus brag on him when he's you know, most people would have fired him.

  188. I mean, you know, I'm sorry, brother, but we're going to have to disfellowship you.

  189. You've, you've gone off the rails here.

  190. No, he said, yeah, just go tell him again.

  191. He knows this.

  192. But go tell him again about the miracles.

  193. Go tell him that dead people are being raised, deaf people are hearing, blind people are getting their sight Lippers are being cleansed.

  194. Just go tell him again.

  195. Go tell him again, and, and just you know you might encourage him, blessed as he who has not offended in me.

  196. And why was John the Baptist kind of offended?

  197. Well, because I think he didn't expect to lose his head over telling Herod that he couldn't have his brother's wife.

  198. There was sin at the top of Israel's government.

  199. Is there any sin at the top of our government?

  200. Holy mackerel, the Biden crime family man.

  201. I mean, he had a, he had a pride gathering at the White House, the People's House.

  202. That's the People's House.

  203. He presumes to treat it like it's his and and said that that all of the people that would protect their children from trans children are.

  204. Just what?

  205. Did he call us Mean or something?

  206. He used a word.

  207. No, you're the, you're the nut job, biden.

  208. You're, you're, you're.

  209. You've got your wires all crossed.

  210. And the pitiful thing is he doesn't believe any of it anyway.

  211. He just says it because it's popular.

  212. I guarantee you his best friend is not a transvestite, I can guarantee it.

  213. All right.

  214. So great men say what the word says about them.

  215. I like Colossians 2-10.

  216. I am complete in him, who is the head of all principality and power.

  217. Oh honey, you, you make me complete.

  218. No, jesus makes me complete.

  219. I mean, you know, I love my wife, but she doesn't complete me.

  220. God's the one.

  221. Jesus is the one.

  222. I'm completing him.

  223. I'm complete.

  224. Ephesians 2, 6,.

  225. I'm seated together with him in heavenly places in Christ.

  226. I say that every day I take my place of authority at his right hand and I speak some things to the devil, demon powers.

  227. Glory to God.

  228. So you know when you've been made the righteousness of God.

  229. Righteousness is a gift.

  230. You couldn't earn it.

  231. Jesus is your righteousness and he gave it to you.

  232. A lot of people.

  233. You know, if I ask for a show of hands, how many of you are growing in righteousness?

  234. There'll be a few people that'll raise their hand.

  235. No, you're not.

  236. You can't grow in that, because you got it to begin with.

  237. It's not a fruit, it's a gift.

  238. I said it's not a fruit, it's a gift.

  239. What are some of the gifts?

  240. Well, love, joy, peace.

  241. I mean, excuse me, what are some of the fruits of the Spirit?

  242. Love, joy, peace, patience, gentleness, goodness, you know, self-control all those you can grow in those Fruit is grown.

  243. So you increase in love, you increase in joy, you increase in all of those things.

  244. But in righteousness you can't increase in that, because righteousness is a state, it is a place where you are, where you have no fear or shame before God.

  245. You can spend time in His presence and not be ashamed, not have any guilt.

  246. That's a gift and so you ought to confess it.

  247. You're the righteousness of God in Christ.

  248. So that honors your redemption.

  249. It's not about bragging, amen, all right.

  250. The second thing I find just keep reading here in John chapter one turn back there.

  251. We went over to Isaiah.

  252. Now I lost my place.

  253. All right, john chapter one.

  254. So he told these messengers you know, I'm the voice of one crying in the wilderness, isaiah, chapter 40, verse three and verse 24, and they which were sent were sent of the Pharisees, see, I told you.

    Isaiah 40 chapter mention

  255. And they asked him and said unto him, why baptizes thou then if thou be not that Christ, nor Elijah, neither that prophet.

  256. And John answered them, saying I baptize with water, but there standeth one among you whom you know not.

  257. He it is, who, coming after me, is preferred before me, whose shoes latch it.

  258. I am not worthy to unloose.

  259. These things were done in Baraba, batharaba, bathabara.

  260. There you go, bathabara, beyond Jordan, where John was baptizing.

  261. And so then, the next day, john sees Jesus coming unto him and he says behold the Lamb of God which taketh away the sin of the world.

  262. This is he of whom I said after me cometh a man which is preferred before me, for he was before me.

  263. So the second point of a great greatness, the reason why Jesus said he was great, is great men walk in humility.

  264. Great men walk in humility.

  265. In other words, the whole world doesn't revolve around you.

  266. He said in another place.

  267. You know, john said after Jesus was in the ministry a while.

  268. He said he must increase, I must decrease.

  269. He was gracious enough to step aside.

  270. He had done his job.

  271. There's no competition.

  272. He's not trying to compete.

  273. He's not trying to have any more sin.

  274. He's not trying to have any more sin.

  275. See, I've got a whole lot more disciples than you do, jesus.

  276. I've got 20,000 on my Facebook page.

  277. You've only got 10,000.

  278. No competition, and the whole world just doesn't revolve around you.

  279. Let's look at John, john, chapter three.

  280. There arose verse 25, john 3, 25.

  281. Then there arose a question between some of John's disciples and the Jews about purifying.

  282. And they came under John and said unto him Rabbi, he that was with thee beyond Jordan, to whom you bear witness, behold, the same baptizes, say Jesus is baptizing.

  283. Now, what do you say about that?

  284. He's baptizing.

  285. What are you gonna say about that, jesus?

  286. And John answered and said a man can receive nothing except to be given him from heaven.

  287. You yourselves bear me witness that I said I'm not the Christ, but I am sent before him.

  288. He that hath the bride, hath the bridegroom, is the bridegroom, but the friend of the bridegroom, which standeth and heareth him, rejoices greatly because of the bridegroom's voice.

  289. This, my joy, therefore, is fulfilled.

  290. He must increase and I must be created.

  291. So there's that humility.

  292. He knew his place.

  293. The whole world doesn't revolve around him.

  294. You know, really a lot of ministry is like a relay race.

  295. You know, the baton is past, it's just time sometimes.

  296. And I remember, you know, I got past a baton when Brother Osteen went to heaven.

  297. I'm not saying I got his ministry, I got my inheritance, I got a dispensation of what it was that I had sown to all the years that I was there.

  298. It's not about pride, but I would be remiss if I didn't admit that I had it.

  299. Why?

  300. Because it came from God.

  301. Amen.

  302. That's not pride, that's really humility.

  303. So humility is not thinking less of yourself, it's thinking of yourself less.

  304. In other words, you're just not the center of the universe.

  305. You know, I knew a person.

  306. I'll just say a person.

  307. I won't say it was a man or a woman, but it was a woman and, and you know, she developed in ministry and wound up being a pastor.

  308. Her husband and we were invited to come and minister at the church and at one point and she was just bragging on her women that would come and whenever she would travel, she would call them and they would come to her house and they'd pack her bags for her and iron her clothes.

  309. And then she started talking about them coming over and cleaning her house and I just thought, you know that's really unseemly.

  310. I didn't say a word but I said you know, gladys, I just don't want to be like that.

  311. I don't want to take advantage of people.

  312. That that you know.

  313. It's one thing for somebody to feel like they want to do something for you.

  314. I know how to receive.

  315. I mean, you know, my name is Jimmy, I'll take all you give me.

  316. I mean, you know, I know how to receive, but on the expectation of being waited on and being served just because I'm in the ministry, see, that's dangerous, that's your.

  317. You're on the edge of pride, you're on the edge of taking advantage of people, I mean, she's just going on vacation, she's not going Now.

  318. See, I've had, I've had Jay traveled with me, I've had Claire travel, I've had my family travel with, I've had people travel with me going to India, going to the mission field, going somewhere to preach.

  319. Well, you know, it's really handy to have a traveling partner, because you do need somebody to watch out after the passports, the luggage and anticipate what's going to happen.

  320. And you know next and all of that.

  321. It really helps a lot.

  322. That's what I did with brother Osteen.

  323. When I traveled with brother Osteen, I was a helper, I care.

  324. I made sure if he had a bag I'd carry it.

  325. I'd made sure I'd, you know, stood in line and got the bags together.

  326. We'd have a.

  327. We had too many bags for me to carry, so we'd have a sky cap and we'd haul it out to the vehicle that we're traveling.

  328. So I would handle those kinds of things.

  329. That's different, that's just being a servant of God.

  330. But I mean, I'm going to go on a vacation.

  331. I'm going to call you to come pack my bags for me and haul them out to my car so I can go to Cabo San Lucas.

  332. I mean, god, that's kind of just too much sugar for a dime.

  333. Oh well, anyway, praise God, let's walk in humility.

  334. All right, mark of greatness.

  335. Let's go back to John, chapter one.

  336. We're going to pick up in verse 31.

  337. Now, well, go back to verse 30.

  338. This is he of whom I said after me cometh a man which is preferred before me, for he was before me and I knew him not.

  339. I knew him not.

  340. Hold on to that thought, but that he should be made manifest to Israel.

  341. Therefore, am I come baptizing with water, and John bear records saying I saw the spirit descending from heaven like a dove and a boat upon him, and I knew him not second time.

  342. I knew him not, but he that sent me to baptize with water, the same said unto me who was that?

  343. The Holy Ghost?

  344. The same said unto me, upon whom you shall see the spirit descending and remaining on him, the same is he which baptizes with the Holy Ghost.

  345. And I saw and bear record that this is the Son of God.

  346. So notice, john the Baptist said I knew him not twice.

  347. What's he saying?

  348. He didn't relate to him as his cousin.

  349. You know, yeah, my mother and your.

  350. You know, your mother was my mother's favorite cousin and my, my, my, my, my, yeah, we grew up together.

  351. We're just six months apart.

  352. Yeah and the and the.

  353. No, he didn't know him after the flesh.

  354. He knew no man after the flesh.

  355. Paul said you know from, in fact, john, john and second Corinthians, five 16,.

  356. You know, we talked about five 17 for a couple of weeks.

  357. Five 16 says henceforth no, I know man.

  358. After the flesh, we know each other.

  359. After the spirit, we know each other.

  360. It's not that we can't be friends, but we relate spirit to spirit and especially in ministry.

  361. Like myself, I had.

  362. You know, when I got these revelations I was God was opening the door for me to travel with brother Osteen, be around him on a personal basis Well, that's pretty rare, rarefied territory.

  363. I mean, here's a man that's known all over the world.

  364. He's got a worldwide ministry and I'm next to him and he's talking to me and being friendly with me and we're having a regular conversation.

  365. If I'm not careful, I can know him after the flesh and I can relate to him.

  366. As a man.

  367. I can relate to him.

  368. Or I can put him on a pedestal and I can say things to him that will feed his ego.

  369. Everybody's got one, and I mean everybody.

  370. I can say things that are just, you know, not the spirit, just something to kind of build him up, be a yes, man.

  371. Are y'all following what I'm talking about?

  372. That's not what this is talking about.

  373. This is John the Baptist did not relate to Jesus as a man.

  374. He related to him spirit to spirit, and that way he could fulfill his ministry.

  375. So you know, thank God, God started showing me some of these things many years ago.

  376. When God opened that door and I was very careful to relate to Brother Osteen as my pastor, there was a line I wouldn't cross because I saw his flesh, I saw his whatever.

  377. I saw him just live a normal life.

  378. When you're around somebody that they're not on the platform and they're not under the anointing and they're not ministering, they're just normal, you've got to watch out because if you relate to that person and start noticing all the things that everybody's got, which is faults, idiosyncrasies, weaknesses, little things I remember the very first time we went out to eat with Pastor Doty, I mean we didn't know whether to laugh or not.

  379. I mean we were just sitting there looking at each other, I don't know.

  380. I mean they're kind of fussing at each other.

  381. I wasn't sure if they were joking or they were serious, and so we'd smile.

  382. You know, oh, you old goat.

  383. And it was hilarious.

  384. I wanted to bust out laughing.

  385. Here's Doty, and they would carry on like that.

  386. In church she would turn the lights out.

  387. Anybody remember?

  388. She used to have a light switch in the first building and that she would turn the light If he said something she didn't like.

  389. He'd turn the lights out, all the lights that go out in the whole church.

  390. He did not have a light switch in the new building.

  391. They didn't have one.

  392. She did not get one, but they were real people.

  393. They didn't try to put on airs.

  394. And I've got to be careful and not buy into that and start looking at them through narrowed eye slits.

  395. You know, I've got to relate to them as my pastor.

  396. I've got to respect the office.

  397. That's where I'm trying to go to Respect the office they stand in.

  398. Are you with me now?

  399. So great men, honor the office, not the personality or the pedigree.

  400. Hallelujah, you getting anything out of this.

  401. You know another way to say it familiarity kills the anointing.

  402. Familiarity kills the anointing.

  403. What do I mean by that?

  404. Being too conscious of a friendship or the flesh or the natural when it comes time for the spirit of God to minister to you, sometimes it can interrupt that, and so I just don't go out of my way to be everybody's best friend.

  405. I don't go to eat at people's houses, I don't go to lunch, even with my staff.

  406. I sell to meet with my staff.

  407. I come by for a staff meeting, I come by and check on things, and then I you know why, pastor, that sounds kind of real.

  408. I just want to make sure that we always have an anointing available so I can minister to them when I need to.

  409. I can even minister to my own son.

  410. I can minister like I did tonight, because there's even though he's my son and we're close and we love each other there's always that deep respect.

  411. He's always carried that for me.

  412. He's always not just for dad but for pastor.

  413. Oh, it's valuable when you can hold the office and not the rest of it.

  414. The rest of it is not near as important as the office.

  415. I hope I'm not coming across as arrogant or anything.

  416. I'm trying to be honest.

  417. I'm not arrogant or anything.

  418. I'm trying to communicate a truth to you.

  419. And these are the things that God marks great, great.

  420. You check in the great box when you can walk that.

  421. Walk in that All right.

  422. And then the last one.

  423. Let's look back to Matthew 11, where we started, and marks of greatness.

  424. So we'll read a verse 11 again, one of those astounding verses Among barely, I say unto you, among them that are born of women.

  425. There had not risen a greater than John the Baptist.

  426. Not withstanding, he that is least in the kingdom of heaven is greater than he.

  427. And from the days of John the Baptist until now, the kingdom of heaven suffered violence, and the violence take it by force.

  428. Now the King James is a little bit cloudy, it's a little bit unclear.

  429. It's exactly what is he saying.

  430. So let me read it to you in the amplified and from the days of John the Baptist until now, the kingdom of heaven has endured violent assault, and violent men seize it by force as a precious prize.

  431. A share in the heavenly kingdom is sought for with most ardent zeal and intense exertion.

  432. Isn't that good and so violent faith.

  433. How violent is your faith?

  434. A lot of times we go wanting because we don't have enough intensity, we don't exert enough energy.

  435. We don't seize by force what belongs to us.

  436. Look at the language.

  437. This is Jesus talking here.

  438. This isn't me.

  439. This is Jesus talking and he's saying you need to turn up the knob a little hotter.

  440. You need to get a little more violent when it comes to the things of the kingdom.

  441. You're not gonna get them just cause you're wishing and hoping.

  442. You're gonna have to seize it by force.

  443. It's sought for with most ardent zeal and intense exertion.

  444. That's what it took to get this church going.

  445. It took that.

  446. It took every bit of that.

  447. I mean it's not just gonna fall out of the sky on top of you and really the world we live in is such a world of entitlement.

  448. People are so entitled.

  449. It's a plague that has attacked the church and we need to get back to what Jesus said.

  450. Jesus said you want it, it's been provided.

  451. But you're gonna have to want it bad.

  452. You're gonna have to come, seize it by force.

  453. Glory to God.

  454. And so let's look at something.

  455. Here's Jesus doing it.

  456. Here's Jesus doing it.

  457. Here's Jesus doing it.

  458. Here's Jesus doing it.

  459. Here's Jesus doing it.

  460. Here's Jesus doing it.

  461. Here's Jesus doing it.

  462. Here's Jesus giving us an example.

  463. John, chapter two.

  464. We're flipping around the Bible tonight, john chapter two, verse 13,.

  465. The Jews, passover was at hand and Jesus went up to Jerusalem and found in the temple those that sold oxen and sheep and doves and the changers of money sitting.

  466. Now, what does that mean?

  467. He says well, you know, these are businessmen, and at Passover you had people journey from all over Israel to come to Jerusalem.

  468. They had to come.

  469. They couldn't do it at home, they had to come to the temple in Jerusalem.

  470. And when they did, they couldn't bring the animals for the sacrifice that they had to have.

  471. You know, they had peace offerings, trespass offerings, you know, sin offerings.

  472. All these offerings.

  473. They're all animals.

  474. So what you had to do is you had you could bring your own animals.

  475. You had to come and buy the animals.

  476. So here they are, set up in the temple selling these animals that are, and they're making a profit, they're making a killing, they're making merchandise out of the temple.

  477. See well, they, you know they're not doing it because they want to help people fulfill the law.

  478. They're doing it to make money themselves, getting rich.

  479. It made him mad and so he made a scourge of small cords.

  480. Think about it.

  481. He got angry and he stayed angry long enough to make a whip.

  482. He made a whip out of leather, out of small cords.

  483. He's sitting there braiding this thing together.

  484. No, no, no, no, no.

  485. Five minutes, 10 minutes, 20 minutes, 30 minutes.

  486. He's still mad, he's mad, he's still mad, he's mad.

  487. He keeps being mad.

  488. He didn't just get over it.

  489. He didn't just have a mad and get over it.

  490. He was mad the whole time he was making this whip and he made a scourge of small cords and he drove them all out of the temple, and the sheep and the oxen, and poured out the changers money and over through the table.

  491. Man, wouldn't you like to see a video of that.

  492. He was mad and said unto them that so the doves, take these things out of here, make not my father's house a house of merchandise.

  493. And his disciples remembered that it was written the zeal of thine house hath eaten me up.

  494. That's found in Psalm 69.

  495. Verse nine.

  496. Psalm 69 happens to be a Messianic Psalm.

  497. It's all about Jesus.

  498. And so his own disciples saw how zealous he was.

  499. See, this is.

  500. He's violent.

  501. His faith is violent.

  502. He is going.

  503. He is going to drive out religion.

  504. He's going to drive out this, this idea of taking advantage of his people.

  505. Are y'all with me now?

  506. Praise God.

  507. So great men, point number four in the last one.

  508. Great men treasure the kingdom.

  509. They treasure the kingdom, and I've always wanted to treasure God's kingdom and God's church, god's people.

  510. You are a treasure.

  511. You're a treasure to me and my family and we're glad we're honored beyond words to be able to do what we do.

  512. It's just an amazing thing that God called me to do and there's nothing like it.

  513. I love it.

  514. I love being with y'all.

  515. So I hope you know that I can check that box one day, that I will fulfill that part of what God showed me all these years ago.

  516. So let's contend for the faith, and the faith operates in the kingdom.

  517. Amen, marks of greatness.

  518. I hope you got something out of it.

  519. Amen.

  520. Well, come on, let's rejoice, lift our hands and thank God for the word.

  521. Amen, amen, amen.
